• Need to know.
Daniel 7:25 says the little horn would “think to change times and law.”

The little horn is not left unidentified. Daniel 7 shows it rising out of divided Rome, among the ten horns, uprooting three, speaking against God, persecuting the saints, and ruling for “a time, times, and half a time.” This identifies the Roman Papacy.

The “law” side of the prophecy is seen in the Papacy’s treatment of the Ten Commandments, especially in changing the Sabbath commandment to honour Sunday.

But Daniel says the little horn would also think to change the “times.”

That matters because Daniel has already told us who controls the times. Daniel 2:21 says God “changes the times and the seasons” and “removes kings and raises up kings.” In context, Daniel is speaking about God’s rule over history. He reveals the rise and fall of kingdoms before they happen: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, divided Rome, the Antichrist power, and then the kingdom of God.

So the “times” are not incidental. They are part of the prophetic timeline God revealed.

The Papacy could not change God’s actual timetable. But it could attempt to change how that timetable is understood.

That is exactly what happened through Preterism and Futurism. During the Counter-Reformation, Jesuit priests systematised alternative prophetic views that moved the Antichrist away from the Papacy. Luis de Alcázar developed the preterist approach, pushing Antichrist prophecy into the distant past. Francisco Ribera developed the futurist approach, pushing Antichrist prophecy into the distant future.

Though they move in opposite directions, both achieve the same result: the Papacy is removed from the prophetic timeline Daniel gives.

That is why the “times” element matters. The same power that claimed authority to alter God’s law also promoted systems that obscure God’s prophetic timeline.

If the Papacy is no longer seen as the little horn, then Daniel’s warning is neutralised. The Antichrist is either buried in the past or postponed into the future, while the very system prophecy exposes continues with renewed power to deceive.

  • LET'S TALK ABOUT IT.
For centuries, the dominant Protestant understanding of prophecy was Historicism.

This was the prophetic lens used by the Reformers — men like Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, William Tyndale, and many others.

Historicism teaches that Daniel and Revelation unfold progressively across the course of Christian history. The kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome are not isolated symbols — they form a continuous prophetic timeline that stretches into the Christian era.

Through this framework, the Reformers identified the Papal system as the prophetic “little horn” of Daniel 7 and the sea beast of Revelation 13 — the Antichrist power operating within history.

This was not a marginal opinion. It was the mainstream Protestant position.

And it was precisely this identification that placed the Papacy under intense prophetic scrutiny during the Reformation.

In response, alternative interpretive models emerged during the Counter-Reformation — pushing the Antichrist either into the distant future (Futurism) or entirely into the distant past (Preterism).

Both approaches remove the Papacy from the prophetic spotlight.

    Historicism does not.

It presents prophecy as God’s unfolding warning through history — identifying powers clearly and preparing believers for what lies ahead.

    The question is simple:

Will we interpret prophecy through the lens of the Reformers — or through systems developed after they had already identified Rome as the Antichrist?

THE GREAT PROPHETIC DIVERSION: How the "Times" Were Changed.

For centuries, the world recognized the "Little Horn" of Daniel 7 as the Roman Catholic Papacy. To stop this realization, a strategic "re-writing" of prophecy occurred. This is the fulfillment of Daniel 7:25—the "changing of times."

    The Jesuit Counter-Reformation
When the Reformers pointed to the Papacy, the Church needed a way to shift the blame. They commissioned Jesuit scholars to create two opposing "times" for prophecy:

    1. Preterism (The Past)

The Architect: Luis de Alcazar (1554–1613).

The Move: He pushed the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation into the distant past, claiming they were fulfilled by Nero or Antiochus Epiphanes.

The Result: If it already happened in 70 AD, the Papacy can’t be the Antichrist today.

    2. Futurism (The Future)

    The Architect: Francisco Ribera (1537–1591).

The Move: He pushed the "Little Horn" into the distant future, claiming the Antichrist would only appear for 3.5 literal years at the very end of time.

The Result: If he hasn't arrived yet, the Papacy is off the hook.

    Changing the "Times"
By moving the fulfillment to the far past or the far future, they successfully removed the attention off the Papal system’s 1,260-year reign in the middle of history.

Today, most of the world (including many Protestant churches) has accepted these Jesuit-led interpretations without realizing they were designed to hide the true identity of the Little Horn.

The Bible warns that he would "think to change times." This isn't just about calendars—it’s about the timeline of God's truth.

WHY HISTORY'S "LITTLE HORN" ISN'T WHO YOU THINK

Many point to Nero or Antiochus Epiphanes as the fulfillment of Daniel 7:25, but do they actually fit the prophetic "ID card"? When we look at the four identifying marks, only one power remains standing.

    1. "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High"
The Fail: Antiochus suppressed Jewish rites, and Nero persecuted Christians, but their influence was localized and temporary.

The Match: The Papacy claimed divine titles and the authority of God on earth for centuries, speaking "pompous words" in a global, ecclesiastical sense.

    2. "Shall persecute the saints of the Most High"
The Fail: Nero’s persecution lasted roughly 3-4 years. Antiochus’s lasted about 3.

The Match: During the Dark Ages, the Papal system’s crusades and inquisitions lasted for over a millennium, resulting in the deaths of millions of "saints" who held to the Bible over tradition.

    3. "Shall intend to change times and law"
The Match: This is the smoking gun.

The Law: The Papacy explicitly claims the authority to have moved the solemnity of the Sabbath (the 4th Commandment—the only "law" dealing with Time) from the seventh day to Sunday.

The Times: To hide its identity, the Papacy introduced Futurism (via Ribera) and Preterism (via Alcazar). These Jesuit-led interpretations "changed the times" of prophecy, pushing the Little Horn into the distant future or the distant past—specifically to remove the attention off the Roman Catholic Papacy as the fulfillment.

    4. "They shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time"
The Fail: This 1,260-day/year period simply does not fit the reigns of Nero or Antiochus.

The Match: Papal supremacy lasted exactly 1,260 years—from the decree of Justinian in 538 AD to the capture of the Pope in 1798 AD.

Conclusion: History is a lock, and only one key fits. While others were types of "antichrists," the Roman Catholic Papacy is the only entity that meets every single identifying feature of Daniel 7.

  • AMAZING FACTS
    Daily Devotionals

    Far and Wide.

    January 8th, 2026

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun morning newspaper has the highest daily circulation in the world: 8 million copies. Moreover, it’s estimated that each copy is read by an average of 2.5 readers, resulting in a total readership of approximately 20 million.

A far bigger message needs to be circulated throughout the world in these last days. An angel told John, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book.” This is the opposite of what the angel told Daniel (Daniel 12:4). But in John’s day, “the time is at hand.” When the angel said, “Do not seal the words,” it was saying, “Circulate this book as far and wide as possible!”

Though we now live at the time of the end, the last days began during John’s lifetime. Prophecies from Daniel were opening up to God’s diligent students. The countdown to Christ’s return took on a new intensity as the New Testament church was launched to prepare people for the end of our world. How much more seriously, then, should we take this command today?

Satan does not want these prophecies circulated or studied. One of his deceptions is that all these prophecies took place in the past, during the time of John. This method of interpretation is called “preterism” and teaches that Revelation’s prophecies have no real significance to us today.

Another deception in studying Revelation is the teaching that all prophecies after chapter 4 will be fulfilled after God’s people are taken to heaven. Called “futurism,” it suggests that it is useless for the saved to read about the beast, seals, and trumpets since these will come after “the rapture” and apply only to those who are still here during the so-called “tribulation.”

But the angel said, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.” Revelation has been unfolding ever since it was given, and we are rapidly approaching its closing pages.

Lord, thank you for revealing Your plans to John, that we might be prepared for Your coming!

For Further Study: Isaiah 29:10–14; Daniel 8:26; Revelation 1:3

  • Futurism and Preterism will always clash because neither can ever get prophecy correct. The ones who are censored (the Historicists) , now what does that tell you?

  • SEVEN DECEPTIONS OF THE JESUITS.
The Great Liar, And His Instruments Of Deception
    Throughout Christian history.

Satan’s most successful strategy has been to corrupt pure faith with subtle falsehoods clothed in religious garments. His most enduring and dangerous deceptions have come through the Jesuit Order, which was established to undermine the work of the Reformation and to restore papal supremacy.
Below are seven deceptions introduced or popularized through Jesuit influence that have been widely adopted among Christians today.
    1. THE COUNTER-REFORMATION PROPHECIES
Liar: The Jesuit theologians Francisco Ribera and Luis de Alcázar
Deception: Reinterpretation of Bible prophecy to hide the identity of the Antichrist.
Ribera (1590) developed Futurism, teaching that the Antichrist is an individual who will arise only at the end of time, rebuilding the Jewish temple and ruling for three and a half literal years.
Alcázar developed Preterism, teaching that all prophecies of Antichrist were fulfilled in the past, by Nero or pagan Rome.
Both systems removed the papacy from the prophetic spotlight. Most evangelical Christians now teach either a future Antichrist (Futurism) or a past Antichrist (Preterism), both of which contradict the continuous, historical fulfillment seen in Scripture (Daniel 7:25; Revelation 13:1–10).
    2. THE SECRET RAPTURE
Liar: Jesuit Emmanuel Lacunza, writing under the Jewish pseudonym “Rabbi Ben-Ezra” (1790s)
Deception: Christ returns secretly to take the church before the tribulation.
This doctrine was unknown to the early church and Reformers. It was popularized in Protestant circles through Edward Irving and John Nelson Darby in the 1800s, and later the Scofield Bible.
Biblical truth: Christ’s coming is visible, audible, and final (Matthew 24:27, 30–31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17). There is no “second phase” or secret removal of the righteous before tribulation.
    3. ECUMENICAL UNITY ABOVE TRUTH
Liar: Jesuit strategy through the Council of Trent and modern interfaith movements.
Deception: All Christian divisions should be healed by love and cooperation, not by returning to biblical doctrine.
This sentiment sounds holy but removes the authority of Scripture as the final test of truth. Many churches now unite on social causes while silencing doctrinal differences.
Biblical truth: True unity is based on truth, not compromise (John 17:17; Amos 3:3).
    4. DOMINION THEOLOGY AND POLITICAL CHRISTIANITY
Liar: Jesuit political theology, especially through their theory of “probable opinion” and papal supremacy.
Deception: The church must rule the state, and religion should shape civil law.
This led to the persecution of dissenters and is re-emerging as Christians call for enforcing “Christian laws” by government power.
Biblical truth: Christ’s kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). God never forces conscience.
    5. MYSTICAL SPIRITUALISM (Contemplative Prayer, Ignatian Exercises)
    Liar: Ignatius of Loyola
Deception: Using imagination and mental exercises to experience “union with God” through visualization or inner voices.
This blends Christian language with mystical spiritualism, preparing minds to accept false spiritual manifestations.
Biblical truth: We walk by faith, not by inner sensations (2 Corinthians 5:7; Isaiah 8:19–20).
    6. MARY AS CO-MEDIATOR AND QUEEN OF HEAVEN
    Liar: Jesuit Mariology
Deception: Presenting Mary as the compassionate intercessor beside Christ, co-redeemer with Him.
This sentimentality replaces direct faith in Christ with human mediation.
Biblical truth: “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
    7. MORAL RELATIVISM
Liar: Jesuit “Casuistry,” a method of reasoning that excuses sin under certain circumstances.
Deception: Situational ethics, where truth becomes flexible according to intention or context.
This spirit has deeply entered modern Christianity, replacing absolute obedience with justification by circumstance.
Biblical truth: “Let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay” (Matthew 5:37); “Thy word is truth” (John 17:17).
Through all these falsehoods, the adversary is preparing the world to receive his final deception, a counterfeit form of Christianity that honors human authority over divine law and miracles above truth.
    Scripture warns:
“All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life” (Revelation 13:8).
The safeguard against deception remains the same: “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20.

This led to the persecution of dissenters and is re-emerging as Christians call for enforcing “Christian laws” by government power. Biblical truth: Christ’s kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). God never forces conscience. 5. MYSTICAL SPIRITUALISM (Contemplative Prayer, Ignatian Exercises) Liar: Ignatius of Loyola Deception: Using imagination and mental exercises to experience “union with God” through visualization or inner voices. This blends Christian language with mystical spiritualism, preparing minds to accept false spiritual manifestations. Biblical truth: We walk by faith, not by inner sensations (2 Corinthians 5:7; Isaiah 8:19–20). 6. MARY AS CO-MEDIATOR AND QUEEN OF HEAVEN Liar: Jesuit Mariology Deception: Presenting Mary as the compassionate intercessor beside Christ, co-redeemer with Him. This sentimentality replaces direct faith in Christ with human mediation. Biblical truth: “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). 7. MORAL RELATIVISM Liar: Jesuit “Casuistry,” a method of reasoning that excuses sin under certain circumstances. Scripture warns: “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life” (Revelation 13:8). The safeguard against deception remains the same: “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20.
