Daily Devotion: Romans 8:26
“In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express.” GNB
Have you ever been so low in life that you felt unable to pray? I’m sure you have. It is very hard to pray when you are filled with sorrow, pain or desperation. Keeping this in mind, the above scripture should be very comforting, for it tells us that the Holy Spirit will lay our burdens before God on our behalf, even if we do lack the words.
One should also remember that God knows our every need, so even before you ask for something, He already knows what you are going to say.
Matthew 6:8: “Your Father already knows what you need before you ask him.” GNB
Having said that, it is not impossible to pray, even if you do not feel able to. You must know that it does not matter how long, how loud or how many times you pray, what matters is that you DO PRAY. You focus your mind away from your problems and cares and look to God for assistance; THAT is the important thing. God listens to all our prayers and He will answer us. He sees your longing, feels your pain and has empathy with your sorrow. God doesn’t answer prayers because the words are perfect, no, He answers prayers because He wants to reach out to those who need Him most in an hour they feel desperately alone and helpless.
Psalms 102:19-20: “The LORD looked down from his holy place on high, he looked down from heaven to earth. He heard the groans of prisoners and set free those who were condemned to die.” GNB
Whisper your needs to God today and have faith that He will lift you up.
Luke 11:9: “Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”
