What God Needs From You! Many people ask, “What does God really want from me?” Is it money? Is it church attendance? Is it long prayers or religious rituals? The truth is, God does not need material things—He needs your heart, your obedience, your love, and your surrender. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” — Micah 6:8 (NKJV) God is the Owner of heaven and earth (Psalm 24:1), yet He still desires something from you: a genuine relationship and a life that reflects His will. 1. GOD NEEDS YOUR HEART “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” — Proverbs 23:26 God is not interested in performance without devotion. He does not want your Sunday face and weekday sins. He wants your heart completely. A heart that loves Him (Deuteronomy 6:5) A heart that trusts Him (Proverbs 3:5) A heart that is loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9) God does not want part of you — He wants ALL of you. 2. GOD NEEDS YOUR OBEDIENCE “To obey is better than sacrifice…” — 1 Samuel 15:22 Many people try to please God with activities while ignoring His instructions. Obedience means: Forgiving when it is painful Letting go when He says “leave it” Moving when He says “go” Waiting when He says “stay” Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15 True love for God is proven by obedience to God. 3. GOD NEEDS YOUR FAITH “But without faith it is impossible to please Him…” — Hebrews 11:6 Faith is God’s currency. When you believe Him, you honor Him. When you doubt Him, you dishonor Him. God needs you to trust Him when: You don’t understand the process You can’t see the outcome The doors look closed The delay is long Your faith speaks louder than your words. 4. GOD NEEDS YOUR HOLINESS “Be holy, for I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16 Holiness is not perfection; it is separation from sin and dedication to God. God needs: Clean hands A pure heart A life that avoids compromise You cannot walk with God and walk in sin at the same time. Darkness and light do not mix (2 Corinthians 6:14). 5. GOD NEEDS YOUR LOVE FOR OTHERS “Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Mark 12:31 You cannot claim to love God and hate people. Love is forgiving Love is patient Love is not jealous or proud (1 Corinthians 13) God needs you to become His love in action. When you bless others, forgive others, and serve others, you reveal God to the world. 6. GOD NEEDS YOUR AVAILABILITY “Here am I. Send me!” — Isaiah 6:8 God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. He is not looking for ability, He is looking for availability. Can He send you? Can He use you? Can He trust you? The willing vessel attracts divine assignment. 7. GOD NEEDS YOUR PRAISE AND WORSHIP “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.” — Psalm 150:6 Praise is not for God’s ego; it is for your spiritual alignment. Praise: Invites His presence (Psalm 22:3) Breaks chains (Acts 16:25–26) Silences the enemy (Psalm 8:2) God needs your sincere worship, not entertainment worship. CONCLUSION What God needs from you is not religion, but relationship. He needs: ✅ Your heart ✅ Your obedience ✅ Your faith ✅ Your holiness ✅ Your love ✅ Your availability ✅ Your worship When you give God these things, He gives you: Direction Peace Power Purpose Eternal life You don’t give God because He is lacking. The Danger of Half-Baked Christians Revelation 3:15–16 — “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” A half-baked Christian is one who begins well but fails to continue steadfastly in faith, holiness, and commitment to God. Such a person appears religious outwardly but lacks depth and maturity in their spiritual life. Just as half-cooked food is unfit for consumption, a half-baked Christian is unfit for the Master’s use. The church today is filled with many who profess Christ but do not live for Him completely. They love the blessings of salvation but reject the sacrifices it requires. God is not pleased with lukewarm believers — He desires total obedience, full surrender, and consistent spiritual growth. - WHO IS A HALF-BAKED CHRISTIAN? Hosea 7:8 — “Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.” Ephraim was called a half-baked cake because he mixed with the world and lost his distinctiveness. A half-baked Christian: * Wants to please God and the world at the same time. * Is inconsistent — praying today and sinning tomorrow. * Loves church activities but avoids personal holiness. * Talks about faith but lacks the fruit of the Spirit. * Is satisfied with surface-level Christianity without growth. - CHARACTERISTICS OF HALF-BAKED CHRISTIANS 2 Timothy 3:5 — “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” * They confess Christ but deny Him by their actions. * They serve God for benefits and not out of love. * They avoid correction and dislike spiritual discipline. * They compare themselves with others instead of Christ. * They lack spiritual fire and are easily influenced by the world. - DANGERS OF BEING A HALF-BAKED CHRISTIAN Matthew 7:21-23 — “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven…” * Loss of fellowship with God: God rejects lukewarmness (Revelation 3:16). * Spiritual blindness: They cannot discern right from wrong (Revelation 3:17). * Vulnerability to sin and deception: They easily fall into false doctrines (Ephesians 4:14). * No eternal reward: Half-hearted believers will miss heaven (Luke 9:62). God’s disapproval: Just as food that is not properly cooked is thrown away, God will reject half-baked believers (Hebrews 10:38). - HOW TO AVOID BEING A HALF-BAKED CHRISTIAN Colossians 2:6–7 — “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him…” * Commit to spiritual growth — through the Word, prayer, and fellowship. * Live a separated life — avoid mixing with worldly practices (Romans 12:2). * Obey God completely — partial obedience is disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22–23). * Stay filled with the Holy Spirit — He gives strength to stand firm (Ephesians 5:18). * Be consistent in your walk with God, both in private and public life. - God is calling every half-hearted believer to repentance. He is merciful and ready to restore those who humble themselves before Him. James 4:8 — “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” If you have been lukewarm, today is the day to recommit your life to Christ. Let your heart burn again for Jesus. Let your life reflect total surrender. * Half-baked Christianity is dangerous because it deceives one into thinking they are safe while they are far from God. A true Christian is one who is fully yielded to Christ, burning with zeal, and living in obedience to His Word. Don’t be a lukewarm believer — be on fire for God. Half Obedience 1 Samuel 15:22–23 “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...” Obedience is one of the greatest virtues in the life of every believer. It is the key that unlocks divine favor, blessings, and fellowship with God. However, many Christians today are guilty of half obedience—they obey God partially, selectively, or conveniently. Yet, in God’s eyes, half obedience is total disobedience. 1. WHAT IS HALF OBEDIENCE? - Half obedience means doing part of what God commands but leaving out the rest. It is obeying God where it is comfortable, but compromising where it is costly. - Saul was commanded to utterly destroy the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:3), but he spared King Agag and the best of the sheep and oxen. He obeyed partly — and lost his throne. - Half obedience often disguises itself as good intention, but it is rebellion wrapped in religion. 2. WHY GOD REJECTS HALF OBEDIENCE - It questions His authority: When you obey partially, you tell God He is not fully wise. - It opens the door for pride: Saul claimed he had obeyed God (1 Samuel 15:13), yet he had twisted God’s word to suit himself. - It hinders divine blessings: God cannot trust a man who chooses what part of His command to follow. James 2:10 – “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” 3. EXAMPLES OF HALF OBEDIENCE IN THE BIBLE - Lot’s wife (Genesis 19:17,26): She left Sodom but looked back — a partial obedience that cost her life. - Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1–10): They gave part of what they promised, pretending it was all — God judged them immediately. - Moses (Numbers 20:7–12): He struck the rock instead of speaking to it — one act of disobedience barred him from entering Canaan. 4. THE DANGER OF HALF OBEDIENCE - It leads to rejection by God (1 Samuel 15:26). - It destroys destinies that started well. - It deceives you into thinking you are still right with God when you are not. - It gives room for the devil to accuse and deceive. Luke 6:46 – “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” 5. TRUE OBEDIENCE IS COMPLETE OBEDIENCE - True obedience is immediate, total, and joyful submission to God’s Word — no excuses, no delay, no compromise. - Abraham obeyed completely when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac (Genesis 22:1–18). - Noah obeyed every detail of God’s instruction concerning the ark (Genesis 6:22). - Jesus Christ obeyed even unto death (Philippians 2:8). These examples show that complete obedience is the pathway to divine promotion. 6. AREAS WHERE BELIEVERS STRUGGLE WITH HALF OBEDIENCE - Forgiveness (Matthew 6:14–15) - Tithing and giving (Malachi 3:10) - Evangelism (Matthew 28:19–20) - Purity and holiness (1 Peter 1:15–16) - Submission to authority (Hebrews 13:17) We must examine our hearts: Do we obey only when it suits us, or do we obey even when it costs us everything? 7. HOW TO WALK IN COMPLETE OBEDIENCE - Know God’s Word – You can’t obey what you don’t know (Joshua 1:8). - Trust God’s wisdom – Obedience flows from faith in His plan. - Submit your will – Say like Jesus, “Not my will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). - Be filled with the Holy Spirit – He gives grace to obey fully (Ezekiel 36:27). Fear God more than man – Choose God’s approval over human praise. * Half obedience may seem small in the eyes of men, but it is rebellion before God. Every time we obey partially, we limit God’s move in our lives. The throne that Saul lost because of half obedience was given to David — a man after God’s own heart who obeyed completely. Beloved, God is calling us today to a higher level of obedience — not halfway, not occasionally, but completely and consistently. PRAY THIS PRAYER * Lord, forgive me for every area of partial obedience in my life. * Lord, give me a heart that delights in full obedience. * Deliver me from self-will and pride that resist Your instruction. * Holy Spirit, empower me to obey instantly and completely. * Let my obedience bring glory to Your name and blessings to my destiny.
