THE PILGRIMS GUIDE WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26, 2026 STRENGTHENED THROUGH HIS SPIRIT A WORD FROM THE WORD: "That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man." Ephesians 3:16 NKJV. There is an aspect of weakness that rest, in its physiological curativeness cannot cure and encouragement cannot fix. It is the weariness that resonates within the inner being of a being when the heart feels tired, the mind feels heavy, and the spirit feels drained. That is why Paul the apostle, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit from the context of our foundational Scripture (Ephesians 3:1-21) desires inner strength for God's children, not just outward relief. When God strengthens your inner being, fear loses control, discouragement fades, and endurance rises. You may still face pressure, but you will not collapse under it. You may still walk through challenges, but they will not break you. This same inner strength is what sustained David in the wilderness, Jeremiah in persecution, and Paul in affliction. It is the strength availed by the Holy Spirit, it is quiet, steady, and powerful. As you align yourself to God’s will for your life, He renews your inner being through His Spirit, and causes you to rise with fresh strength for your assignments. Matthew 22:11-14 NIV “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless. “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” God morning and praise God. I hope you are blessed and having a great morning. Long ago in the East, a host of a banquet would provide special garments to his invited guests. These were to his own honor and pride. He would therefore expect all his invited guests to be in that specific attire. Do you think he would allow them who refused to be in his probably expensive, clean and beautiful attire to remain in the banquet? Won't that be a great dishonor to him having spent alot only for someone to participate wearing his or her own garment of choice? Jesus Christ uses this to illustrate how it will be for those who accepted Him but wants to do it under their own terms. Those who want to remain in sin but also in Christ. Those who accepted the Gospel but have willingly refused to be transformed by it. They want to be luke warm, not cold not hot. They want to love Jesus by their own lips whilst their actions shows otherwise. Those who have refused to bear fruit of Spirit but instead are bearing fruits of flesh. In another place the Bible describes them this way Romans 1:21 NIV "For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. " Gospel is tranformartive but to those who genuinely accept it and from henceforth take-up their cross and follow Jesus. You cannot tell us you belong to Jesus but also to your old sinful nature. You cannot belong to light and darkness at the same time. Gospel is nothing about mingling with crowd but rather a deep personal relationship with God. It is about true repentance, faith and submission to the ways of God. It is nothing about following your church traditions and what not but rather a deep relationship of submission and obedience to God. The end of those that are lukewarm is clear. They will be cast out of God's presence at the judgement day. Matthew 7:23 NIV Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Brethren, be among the chosen not just those who accepted invitation. It'll be very painful if you wasted all your time lying on salvation. Great Blessings Hidden in Small Acts of Obedience “Obedience in the small things leads to great success.” God often tests our obedience in small places that no one notices before He lifts us up. Because before a success that is visible on the platform, God looks for character that is formed in the secret place. Noah built the ark exactly as God commanded, even when there was no visible sign of rain. His long-term obedience became the reason for the salvation of his family. (Genesis 6:22) When Naaman was told to wash himself seven times in the Jordan, it seemed like a very simple instruction. But when he obeyed, he was cleansed. (2 Kings 5:10–14) Obedience to a small instruction can bring a great transformation. Obeying even when we do not understand is an expression of faith. Obedience is never wasted, even when the answer is delayed. God sees the obedience we offer in places where no one else is watching. Today’s small act of obedience can become tomorrow’s great testimony. God is less concerned with asking, How great was the thing you did? and more concerned with, How faithful were you to do what I told you? Never consider a small act insignificant. Going to church does not automatically make you spiritually mature. Yes, you heard me. You can attend church every Sunday and still be far from God. You can sit in the front row, carry your Bible, sing every worship song, shout “Amen!” to every prayer, and still have a heart that has not truly surrendered to God. Church attendance is good. But church attendance alone is not spiritual maturity. Imagine someone who goes to the gym every single day. They wear gym clothes. They take pictures in the gym. They know the names of all the machines. They even tell people, “I am always at the gym.” But they never exercise. Will their body change? No. They were physically present, but they were not participating. That is how some people are spiritually. They are always in church… But they don’t pray. They hear the Word… But they don’t obey it. They sing about forgiveness… But they refuse to forgive. They preach about love… But they hate people. They shout about holiness… But secretly live a completely different life. They know Bible verses… But they don’t know the God behind the verses. And this is where we need to be brutally honest with ourselves. You can be a church member and still be spiritually immature. You can know the language of Christianity without carrying the character of Christ. You can know when to say “Praise the Lord” while your heart is full of pride, bitterness, lust, jealousy, unforgiveness and selfishness. And sometimes, the most dangerous person is not the person who knows nothing about God… It is the person who knows the Word, hears the Word, teaches the Word, but refuses to live the Word. Because knowledge without obedience can become self-deception. Spiritual maturity is not measured by how many years you have been going to church. It is seen in how you behave when nobody is watching. Can you control yourself when temptation comes? Can you forgive when you have been deeply hurt? Can you walk away from sin even when nobody would ever know? Can you say “no” to something you desperately want because you know God is saying no? Can you love people who cannot do anything for you? Can you admit when you are wrong? Can you humble yourself? Can you obey God even when obedience is painful? That is where spiritual maturity begins. Because Christianity is not just about being found in church. It is about allowing Christ to be found in you. And maybe this is the question we need to stop asking: “Did I go to church today?” And start asking: “Did I become more like Christ today?” Because one day, God will not be impressed by the number of Sundays you occupied a church seat. He will look at the life you lived after you left that seat. So please… Don’t just be a regular churchgoer. Be a growing Christian. Don’t just hear the Word. Live it. Don’t just carry the Bible. Let the Bible change you. Because the greatest evidence that you have been with God is not how loudly you worship in public… It is how differently you live when nobody is watching. Brenda Walsh Ministries Taking Directions. Why is it that so many people have a problem with taking directions? At some time in our lives, most of us have probably used the phrase, “Don’t tell me what to do!” because no one really enjoys being “bossed around.” But learning to take directions starts as a toddler, and the older we become, the more complicated or challenging those directions can be. Children know that if they don’t obey, there will be a consequence. Students soon learn that if they want to pass on to the next grade, they must listen to their teacher and follow her instructions. Adults understand fully that if they don’t do what their boss is asking, then they’ll lose their jobs. And patients can’t expect to get well or have their health improve if they won’t take the advice of their doctor. So it is with our spiritual life. God’s given us His Holy Word as an instruction manual to help us on our journey here on earth. When we follow what He tells us to do, we not only avoid the pain, heartache, and pitfalls along the way, but we also draw closer to our Lord and Savior! Learning to take directions is absolutely essential if we want to have a joy-filled life and extremely crucial if we want a rich spiritual life and enjoy a close relationship with our best Friend, Jesus.
