Give God Control (Proverbs 3:5–6) One of the hardest things to do is let go. We want to control our future. Our plans. Our relationships. Our careers. Our finances. Our reputation. Even the things we pray about. We often tell God what we want and then quietly expect Him to follow our plan. But trusting God means something deeper. It means being willing to say: “Lord, I trust You—even when Your plan is different from mine.” The Bible says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Notice the instruction: Trust. Not partially. Not only when everything makes sense. With all your heart. Sometimes we struggle to trust God because we want to know exactly what will happen next. But faith doesn't require knowing the entire future. Faith means trusting the One who already knows it. Think about Peter when Jesus called him to step out of the boat. The water was still there. The storm was still around him. But Peter had to decide whether he would trust Jesus enough to take the step. Sometimes God is asking you to take a step before you have all the answers. Maybe you need to start something. Maybe you need to stop something. Maybe you need to forgive. Maybe you need to wait. Maybe you need to surrender a dream. Maybe you need to give God control of a relationship, career decision, or future you have been trying desperately to manage yourself. Surrender doesn't mean giving up on life. It means giving up the illusion that you have to control everything. There are things you can control: Your choices. Your attitude. Your obedience. Your words. Your effort. Your response. But there are also things you cannot control: Other people's decisions. Tomorrow. The economy. Every outcome. Every opportunity. Every circumstance. Trying to control what belongs outside your control will eventually leave you exhausted. So give those things to God. Pray about them. Do your part faithfully. Then trust Him with the results. And remember: Surrender is not weakness. It is an expression of faith. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate example of surrender in the garden of Gethsemane. Facing the cross, He prayed to the Father and submitted to God's will. That obedience brought salvation to humanity. The cross reminds us that God's plan can accomplish something far greater than what we can see in the moment. Maybe you don't understand your current season. Maybe you're asking: “Why is this happening?” Instead of only asking God to change the situation, try asking: “Lord, what are You teaching me through this?” Sometimes God changes the circumstances. Sometimes He changes us. And sometimes He does both. Whatever you're facing today, don't carry it as though everything depends on you. Give God your fears. Give Him your plans. Give Him your mistakes. Give Him your future. Give Him your unanswered questions. And then trust Him one day at a time. You may not know what tomorrow holds. But you know who holds tomorrow. Release what you cannot control and trust the God who can. Today, take a quiet moment and pray: “Lord, I surrender my plans, my fears, and my future to You. Help me trust Your wisdom more than my own understanding. Lead me where You want me to go, and give me the courage to follow. TUESDAY MORNING PRAYER FOR OUR FAMILY! “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15 (KJV) Heavenly Father, in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on this Tuesday morning with grateful hearts. Thank You for waking us up and giving us another day that we did not earn but received because of Your grace and mercy. Your Word declares, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24. Father, before we ask You for anything, we thank You for everything. Thank You for life. Thank You for strength. Thank You for our families. Thank You for keeping us through dangers seen and unseen. Thank You for the doors You opened, the doors You closed, and even the things You protected us from that we never knew were coming. Lord, as our families begin this Tuesday, go before us. Order our steps, direct our decisions, guard our hearts, protect our homes, and keep Your hand upon every member of our family. Your Word says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6. HEAL OUR FAMILY, LORD Father, this morning we bring before You every family member who is battling sickness—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. You know every diagnosis. You know every symptom. You know every pain. You know every sleepless night. You know every private struggle. You know every burden that has become too difficult to explain to others. Father, touch them right now. Your Word declares, “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved.” — Jeremiah 17:14. Lord, stretch forth Your healing hand. Where there is sickness, bring healing. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is weakness, bring strength. Where there is fear, bring faith. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Where there is discouragement, restore hope. Where there are troubled minds, release Your supernatural peace. You promised in Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Father, guard the minds of our family members. Give peace to those overwhelmed by life's pressures. Strengthen those carrying emotional burdens in silence. Remind them that they are seen by You, loved by You, and never beyond the reach of Your hand. Your Word says, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3. So, Lord, heal, deliver, restore, and set free! We stand upon Psalm 107:20:“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Send Your Word into every hospital room, rehabilitation center, doctor's office, nursing facility, and every home where healing is needed. Give physicians wisdom. Give nurses compassion. Give caregivers strength. Give families patience. And give those who are sick the courage to keep believing You one day at a time. SAVE OUR FAMILY, LORD Father, our greatest prayer is not simply that our family will be healthy, prosperous, or successful. Our greatest prayer is that our family will know Jesus Christ. We lift before You every family member who has not surrendered their life to Christ. Draw them by Your Spirit. Let somebody who has been running from You begin running toward You. Let somebody who has questioned You begin seeking You. Let somebody who has never prayed begin calling upon Your name. Let somebody ask the same question asked in Acts 16:30: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And let the answer ring clearly: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” — Acts 16:31. Father, let salvation come into our households! Your Word declares, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13. And Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6. Lord, let our children know Jesus. Let our grandchildren know Jesus. Let husbands and wives know Jesus. Let our brothers and sisters know Jesus. Let our extended families know Jesus. Break destructive generational patterns and establish a new spiritual legacy—a legacy of faith, prayer, worship, obedience, integrity, forgiveness, and love. May generations after us be able to say, “Our family served the Lord!” PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILY, LORD Father, we lift every family member who is looking for employment. You know every application submitted, every résumé sent, every interview completed, and every person waiting for someone to call them back. Open the right doors. Give them favor with hiring managers and decision-makers. Lead them to positions where their gifts, abilities, and experience will be appreciated. For those already employed who need promotion, advancement, better opportunities, increased wages, raises, improved benefits, or greater financial stability, we ask You to make a way. Your Word declares, “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge.” — Psalm 75:6–7. Bless the work of our hands, Lord. Let integrity speak for us. Let excellence distinguish us. Let favor surround us. And when You elevate us, keep us humble enough to remember Who opened the door. PROVIDE FOR THOSE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY Father, we especially pray for family members facing financial pressure. Some are trying to stretch a paycheck. Some are worried about rent or mortgage payments. Some are facing medical bills. Some are dealing with debt. Some need groceries. Some are facing unexpected expenses. Some are working but still struggling to make ends meet. But today we stand upon Philippians 4:19: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Father, You are our Source. Provide what our families need. Give us wisdom to manage what You provide. Teach us to be disciplined, generous, responsible, and faithful stewards. Give our families creative ideas, opportunities, strategies, and open doors. Where there has been lack, provide. Where there has been financial confusion, give wisdom. Where there has been debt, give us a plan and discipline. Where there has been financial fear, replace it with faith and responsible action. Lord, supply every need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. PROTECT OUR FAMILY THIS TUESDAY Father, as our family members leave their homes today, cover them. Protect those driving to work. Protect those traveling. Protect our children and grandchildren. Protect those working long hours. Protect those caring for loved ones. Protect those going to medical appointments. Protect our homes while we are away. Your Word declares, “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” — Psalm 91:11. Lord, keep us from accidents, danger, violence, and circumstances we cannot see coming. Bring everyone safely home. STRENGTHEN THE LOVE IN OUR FAMILY Father, help us to remember that before careers, money, possessions, accomplishments, titles, and recognition, our greatest responsibility is to love You and love one another. Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” — Matthew 22:37. Lord, You come first. Before our plans—You. Before our ambitions—You. Before our possessions—You. Before everything else—You. And because we love You, teach us how to love one another. Your Word declares, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” — 1 John 4:11. Heal broken relationships within our family. Remove bitterness. Destroy unforgiveness. Break down walls caused by pride. Help us apologize when we are wrong. Help us forgive when we have been hurt. Help us communicate with grace. Help us stop allowing small disagreements to create permanent separation. Let husbands and wives love one another. Let parents and children understand one another. Let brothers and sisters support one another. Let generations respect and learn from one another. Lord, make our families stronger, closer, healthier, and more Christ-centered. OUR TUESDAY FAMILY DECLARATION... This Tuesday morning, we declare: Our family belongs to God! We declare healing over our sick. We declare peace over troubled minds. We declare deliverance for those who are bound. We declare salvation for those who do not yet know Jesus. We declare employment for those seeking jobs. We declare favor and increase for those needing advancement. We declare provision for those struggling financially. We declare restoration over broken relationships. We declare protection over our homes and families. We declare love where there has been division. And above everything else, we declare: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15. JAMES DOBSON ON PARENTING (3)" ‘…Bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.’ Ephesians 6:4 NIV WHEN ASKED, ‘How do you suggest parents handle their children’s activities on web sites like Facebook and Twitter?’ Dr. Dobson gave this advice: ‘Parents have to know what technology their kids are using. Sexting is a terrible thing. (‘Sexting’ is the new term for children exposing themselves to one another online, thinking they are safe because they are in the sanctuary of their own home.) Pornography is pervasive, and parents need to keep up with changes in technology and protect their kids. That’s a tough assignment, because kids are ahead of them. Parents often have extremely demanding careers and when they come home they have nothing left to give, so the culture will often take your kids to hell.’ One night a father and his daughter were out on a lake when their small boat was caught in a storm. [17/08, 9:11 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* TUESDAY, 18TH AUGUST, 2026. *THIRSTING AFTER GOD* *TEXT:* PSALM 42:1-5. 1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. *Timeless Truth:*_"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;"_ Psalm 63:1). *INTRODUCTION* When a man ceases to experience thirst, he is as good as dead. The same is true in the spiritual. In fact, one of the first experiences of a converted man is thirst for God and spiritual things. Spiritual thirst is a deep longing for God and His presence. Just as the body cannot survive without water, the soul cannot flourish without God. The psalmist expresses an intense desire for the living God despite the pain, tears, discouragement and difficult circumstances surrounding him. His experience teaches us that genuine faith does not mean the absence of trouble; rather, it means learning to seek God even in the midst of trouble. When everything else fails, God remains the only lasting satisfaction for the thirsty soul. *1. Thirsting After God Like a Hart* a. The psalmist declares, *“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”* A thirsty hart desperately seeks water because its survival depends upon it. Many are thirsty for wealth, pleasure, popularity, power and pride of life among others. The thirst makes them pay a heavy price to get what they are looking for. At times they pay the ultimate price. True thirst will always be demonstrated by desperate seeking for how to satisfy and quench the thirst. In the same vein, many commonly seek God's blessings without seeking for the God of the blessings. The psalmist case was different. *"So panteth my soul after thee"*. Who and what you are passionately and desperately seeking for is a reflection of the state of your heart. In the same manner, the believer should have an earnest and persistent longing for God. The psalmist does not merely desire God's gifts; he desires God Himself. b. His greatest hunger is to *“appear before God.”* He was thirsty to become closer to God. Jesus also echoed this when He said, *"seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness"*. Our ultimate purpose for seeking God was to see His glory, be conformed to His image and be always ready for the kingdom of God. Jesus further assured that *"all other things shall be added unto you"*. The psalmist demonstrated his thirst for God when he decided, *"early will I seek thee...to see thy power and thy glory as I have seen thee in the sanctuary"* (Psalm 63:1,2). Our spiritual lives become weak when our desire for God is replaced by the pursuit of worldly pleasures, possessions, recognition or human approval. Genuine revival begins when the soul cries out for God's presence, His Word, His holiness and fellowship with Him. *Question* Is my desire for God as deep and urgent as the thirst of a hart for water? *2. Tearful Afflictions Giving Loss of Hope* a. Incidentally, the psalmist did not prioritize seeking for heavenly blessings above seeking for God just because everything was going well with him. In fact, the psalmist's circumstances have become so painful that his tears have been his food day and night. He was not finding it rosy in life at that time. One would have expected him, as many worshippers do today, to concentrate on seeking God for release from pains and troubles as priority. Worse still, people around him mockingly asked, directly and indirectly, *“Where is thy God?”.* His memories of former worship and joyful fellowship with God's people intensify his present sorrow. Yet that did not distract his affections towards God. b. At times, affliction can attack not only our circumstances, but also our emotions and confidence. Yet the psalmist's tears reveal that God's children may experience seasons of deep discouragement without being abandoned by God. His pain was real, but it did not have the final word. Even when circumstances seem to contradict God's promises, faith must continue to look toward Him. Seeking God and His righteousness, above all else, should not be diminished as a result of our pains, problems, persecutions and poverty among others. Whatever be our situations, the promises of God that *"all other blessings shall be added"* still stand as long as we keep seeking the face and the glory of God to be reflected in our lives above all else. We must have grace to be tougher than our tough challenges. It is our attitude and the content of our prayers in the time of distress and difficulties that reflect the genuineness of our love for God. Jesus Christ, while on the cross and under intense pains, was still consecrated to soulwinning and intercessory prayers for the sinners and the lost. The will of God and the glory of God was His priority. He has given us examples to follow. *Question* Am I consecrated to seek God and His glory as priority when affliction and tears surround me? *3. Trust in Abiding Grace with a Life of Holiness* When passing through tough times, we must maintain trust in God's abundant grace and continue to live the life that God approves. There is no challenge we pass through that God has not allowed and if God allowed it, then He will see us through as children. The act of faith is in mocking those challenges and still continues seeking the glory of God and heavenly readiness. We must learn how to feed our frustrations and fruitlessness with the word of hope and promises given by God. The psalmist speaks directly to his troubled soul: *“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God.”* He refuses to surrender permanently to despair. Instead, he deliberately redirects his heart toward God. Trusting God's abiding grace means choosing hope when feelings say there is no hope. It also means continuing to live faithfully, before God while waiting for His intervention. A thirsty soul must not only seek God's presence, but also remain committed to a holy life. God's grace sustains us, restores our joy and enables us to praise Him even before our circumstances change. For a child of God, no bad situation is permanent, but temporary and for a moment. *"weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning"*. *Question* Am I deliberately trusting God's abiding grace and maintaining a holy life even when my circumstances are discouraging? *Prayer Points* 1.Father, create within me an unquenchable thirst for Your presence and Your Word 🙏. 2.Lord, strengthen me when tears, afflictions and discouragement threaten my faith 🙏. 3.Father, make me tougher than my challenges and keep me on being engaged in Your service 🙏. 4.Lord, visit and help those brethren who are carrying heavy loads and sustain them by Your grace 🙏. *HYMN:* More of Jesus would I know *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 35-38. In moments of discouragement, Christians serve as a testimony to those who have never met God or heard His voice.* *David exemplifies this in our devotional text as he expresses acute hunger and "thirst for God, the living God". In his hopelessness, he recalled the exhilarating moments he had in God's house and presence. Reminiscences of the voice of joy and praise filled his soul. Awakened by the testimonies of God's faithfulness and the certainty of blessedness that flows from trust in God, he gladly addresses his soul and jerks back from the abyss of despondency.* *Are you troubled about any ugly situation or setback? Cheer up and look up! Here are gems and clues for you as a Christian pilgrim, who could, at times, be discouraged and cast down. Don't stay down. David didn't. He queried and counselled his soul. First is to know that neither discouragement nor despondency is a sign of weakness. Elijah is one biblical character who fits this description. After defeating the prophets of Baal, he received a death threat from Jezebel. His hope was shattered, and despondency set in. He wanted to die! The Lord did not rebuke him for his feelings but sent an angel to provide for his physical needs. In our times of discouragement, suicide is no option; it only leads to a more serious, endless and interminable suffering in hell. The present challenge or problem has not diminished God's love for us. He desires to lead us to a place of a renewed vision of His power!* *The time to exit the discouragement mode is now! Take the verifiable steps that effectively log you out, which include a deep, interminable longing for God. This is what Isaiah calls "waiting upon the Lord". Second, you will do well to consciously recall and delight in God's past acts of mercy, divine interventions, and faithfulness. Finally, you must deliberately seek the remedy of praise to uplift your downcast, crestfallen, and discouraged heart. Beloved, don't give in to despair! Here is a personal, heartfelt prayer for the children in your life, structured around 15 foundational themes and backed by Scripture references to pray over them. A Prayer for the Children in Our Lives Heavenly Father, I come before You today lifting up the precious children You have entrusted to my life and care. You know them by name, You knit them together, and Your love for them far exceeds my own. I lay their lives, their futures, and their hearts at Your feet, standing on the promises of Your Word. 1. Salvation and Faith Lord, above all else, I pray for their hearts. Open their eyes to Your truth at a young age. May they come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, trusting in Him for their salvation. For you Word states: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) 2. Spiritual Growth and Wisdom Father, Grant them wisdom beyond their years. Help them grow daily in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, loving Your Word and seeking Your guidance in every decision. You says:"Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18) 3. Protection from Harm and Evil I pray for Your divine hedge of protection around them Lord—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Guard them from accident, illness, temptation, and the schemes of the enemy. For you said in your Word: "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore." (Psalm 121:7–8) 4. Godly and Wise Friendships Surround them with friends who encourage them, sharpen them, and walk in righteousness Lord. Protect them from unhealthy influences, and give them the courage to be a light to those around them. Again, you said in your Word Lord: "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed." (Proverbs 13:20) 5. Purity and Integrity Father God, Keep their hearts, minds, and bodies pure. Give them the strength to stand against peer pressure and societal expectations, choosing integrity even when no one is watching. Your Word states: "How can a young man keep his way pure? By taking heed according to Your word." (Psalm 119:9) 6. Emotional Health and Peace of Mind Guard their minds against anxiety, fear, depression, and confusion. Lord, Fill them with the peace that surpasses understanding, and let them rest securely in their identity in Christ. I stand on your Word: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6–7) 7. Purpose and Calling Unveil Your purpose for their lives. Show them the unique spiritual gifts, talents, and passions You have placed inside them, and give them the desire to use those gifts to serve You and others. I believe what you say in your Word: "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10) 8. Respect and Obedience toward Authority Father, I ask you to Teach them by your Holy Spirit to honor their parents, teachers, leaders, and mentors. Give them a teachable spirit that receives instruction, discipline, and counsel with grace and humility. Your Word plainly states: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with promise." (Ephesians 6:1–2) 9. A Spirit of Kindness and Compassion And Lord God, Fill their hearts with genuine love for others. Give them eyes to see those who are hurting or lonely, and grant them a generous, compassionate spirit that reflects Your mercy. Again I believe what your Word says: "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32) 10. Resilience and Perseverance When trials, failures, or disappointments come, Father give them the grit and faith to bounce back. Help them understand that challenges refine their character and strengthen their hope. I stand on what is written in your Word: "We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3–4) 11. Courage and Boldness Make them strong and courageous in a world that often opposes Your truth. Give them the boldness to share their faith and stand up for what is right, without fear or shame. Lord God, As you Word states: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9) 12. Self-Discipline and Diligence Father, I am trusting you to Instill in them a strong work ethic, whether in their schooling, chores, or responsibilities. Help them steward their time, resources, and bodies with discipline and self-control. Again, I stand on your Word: "Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." (Colossians 3:23) 13. A Heart of Gratitude and Joy Lord, I pray that you Keep their hearts free from discontentment, envy, and entitlement. Plant a deep sense of joy in their souls and a habit of giving thanks to You in all circumstances. As your Word states: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18) 14. Divine Guidance for Their Future And Lord, I pray for their future—their education, careers, relationships, and ultimate life choices. Lead them step-by-step along the path You have ordained for them, keeping them from wrong turns. I stand on what your Word says: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5–6) 15. Godly Future Spouses and Households Looking ahead to the years to come, Father God I ask that You prepare the hearts of their future spouses, if it be Your will. May they build families rooted in Christ, passing down a legacy of faith for generations to come. Again I agree with what your say in your Word Lord: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15) And in closing Father, I place these children securely in Your hands.(Name them). Work in them and through them, and grant me the grace, wisdom, and patience to love, guide, and support them as well in your sight. I trust and ask your Holy Spirit to guide me in this great and all important endeavor and I thank you and praise you for these precious young lives you have blessed me with and I give them over to your watchful eyes, love and care this day. Thank-you for hearing my prayer for them today. In Jesus' precious and powerful name, Amen.

I don't think everyone needs to know what they're doing with their life at 25, 30, 35, or whatever age society has decided you're supposed to have everything figured out. Some people find their thing early. Some people change careers. Some people start businesses. Some people start over. Some people spend years figuring out what they actually want. And honestly, I think that's okay. I'd rather build a life that actually feels like mine than rush into one that looks impressive from the outside. There's something peaceful about realizing you don't have to compete with someone else's timeline.
