  • Return to God and be Uplifted!
Repentance brings a change of attitude concerning God. The sinner naturally vilifies God. Even when he speaks of His love, he has no conception of God’s justice and wrath. True repentance brings a sense of the Holy God who cannot look upon sin. It impacts a change of mind concerning sin itself upon a person.
The unrepentant delight in sin. A child of God may be tempted to sin and even fall into sin, but his bosom aches when he does so. A true child of God who has repented cannot enjoy sin and continuously longs for deliverance. Before every child of God, there is a vision both of what he is and what he ought to be. He cries with the poet; “O that a man might arise in me that I might ease to be.”
Repentance gives the sinners a change of mind concerning him. Before our salvation, we all had a good opinion of ourselves. Like the Pharisees, we often thanked God that, “we were not as other men, extortionist, unjust, adulterers, or even as the publican" (Luke 18:11). But, every one that exalts himself shall be abased, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted (Verse 14). Where there is true repentance, though, men often despair of themselves, and like the publication, their cry is, “God be merciful to me a sinner”. They echo Paul’s exasperated plea: “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death" (Romans 7:24). For Christ came not to call the righteousness, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).
Repentance affects the motions and will, and also creates a change of feeling. We must beware here lest we are deceived. The old time evangelist who specialized in death-bed stories often created mere human emotion filling the mourners' bench with weeping people. These mourners often had a remorse for their evil doings, deeply regretting they had not been better men and women when they were told about meeting their “mother” in heaven. But remorse in not repentance, though I must say remorse is a very common experience for those who commit sin. Someone has called remorse the “echo of lost virtue”.
Remorse is the attitude of mind and heart for some evil done. Repentance, however, goes deeper. Repentance creates a sorrow for what we are rather that remorse for what we have done. Therefore says the Hebrews writer, “Leaving the principles of the doctrines of Christ (Messiah), let us go into perfection by not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works” (Hebrews 6:1).
Christian repentance is not merely the pangs of an injured conscience. Christian repentance follows the Holy Spirit’s convicting work deep within our soul (John 16:7 and 8). It lays strong hold upon the human will and brings the sinners into conformity with the will of God. It is heeding God’s call from a life of destruction (Mark 1:15). Repentance does not mean merely shedding tears over our wrong doings. It ends in faith in Christ, the Saviour. The Church must preach and teach until these conditions are obtained in the ministries. Then our revival shall have come. For this is the will of God for all mankind (Acts 17:30).
Today what the Church and the continents at large need is repentance. The call of the pulpit to the pew must be repentance. And that of the crusades to the nations must similarly be repentance, and this must eventuate in confession of sins. The scripture, therefore, tells us: “Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the Lord your God” (Jeremiah3:13).That will move our God to come down and heal our many wounds. We are reminded that, “The Lord’s hands is not shortened, that it cannot save neither is His ear heavy that it cannot hear, but your iniquity have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” (Isaiah59:1 and 2). He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confess and forsake them shall have mercy (Proverbs 28:13). “For as many as the Lord loves, He rebukes and chastens; be zealous therefore and repent!” (Revelation 3:19).
The repentance must not only be among the lowly citizens but must spring from the governors trickling to the governed. “Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man which built his house upon a rock. And everyone that hears these sayings of mine and does them not shall be likened to a foolish man which built his house upon the sand,” declares the Lord Jesus Christ (Mathew 7:24 and 26).
Almighty God is calling to the people today as He did to former Israel that, “Therefore also now, says the Lord, Turn even to me with all your heart and with fasting and with weeping and with mourning. And rend your heart and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repent Him of the evil. Who knows if He will return and leave a blessing behind Him, even a meat offering and drink offering unto the Lord your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bride-groom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord weep between the porch and the altar and let them say: Spare your people O Lord and give not your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them; wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? Then the Lord will be so jealous for His land and pity His people. Yes the Lord will answer and say unto His people, Behold I will send you corn, and wine and oil, and you shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen but I will remove far off from you northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face towards the east sea and his hinder part towards the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up and his savor shall come up because he has done great things. Fear not O land; be glad and rejoice; for the Lord will do great things. And I will restore to you the years that locusts has eaten, the cankerworm and the caterpillar and the palmerworm my great army which I sent among you. And you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that has dealt wondrously with you, and my people shall never be ashamed" (Joel 2:12-21: 25 and 26).
The Lord’s northern army is the destruction God brings upon a people as a result of their wickedness. Indeed righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 13:34). For the Lord God of Israel, the Creator of the heavens and the earth loves righteousness and judgement (Psalm 33:5). He stresses that judgement is his strange work (Isaiah 28:21). The reason being that when his judgements are on the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness (Isaiah 26:9). When a nation leaves wickedness and turns to the Lord, such a people receive pardon and sure favour from the Lord God Almighty. The psalmist thus wrote: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance” (Psalms 33:12).
The Lord delights in the humility of a people. This makes Him hear our plea and smile back at us with a pardon. And this humility must start in His sanctuary. He says: “If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Therefore every Christian by and far, let us rally in repentance for the healing of our lands. For repentance turns away God’s wrath.
Nineveh found itself in a similar situation many African nations are in today. Plagued with wickedness in diverse places and faced with imminent judgment, the Almighty God used Jonah to deliver a message of judgment to the people of Nineveh: “Surely the Lord God will do nothing but He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). Unlike most of our folks who hear and turn the head the other way, the Ninevehs believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest-including the king-to the least of them. And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way, and God repented them of the evil that he had said He would bring upon them, and He did it not (Jonah 3).
Repentance touches the core of God’s heart. Humble yourself and return to the Lord your Creator. Repentance automatically brings healing. The Lord says, “Wash you, and make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes, cease to do evil. Learn to do well, seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, and judge the fatherless plead for the widow. Come now and let us reason together; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow: though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:16-19).
The Living God is the healer of nations. The psalmist has declared of Him: “God be merciful to us, and cause His face to shine upon us. That your way may be known upon the earth, your saving health among all nations” (Psalm 67:1 and 2). Perhaps this ought to be the prayer on everyone’s lips now.
Stay awake O Christian in the truth!
The good LORD has always extended this gracious invitation to man over the millennia. And, therefore, if it is your desire to know Him as He truly is - the Lord of lords and King of kings, the Savior, and Redeemer of mankind, then pray this prayer of repentance unto salvation: “Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you with all the sins I have committed and I beg you to forgive me. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. Please cleanse my body, soul, and spirit with your precious blood. I need your help Lord, and I ask you to come and live in my heart. I want to serve you, obey your commands and do what is right. I want to live for you every day, please lead and guide me by your Spirit into righteousness. Thank you, O Lord for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen!”
Welcome now to this grand and mighty army of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on earth. Read the Bible often, and join a congregation near you where Christ Jesus is preached and the Almighty Godhead: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, is worshiped in Spirit and in Truth for your own spiritual growth and strength.
The Almighty God make you the apple of His eyes as I solemnly declare of Him: “After He has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you - for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye - I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them” (Zachariah 2:8). The peace and love of Christ Jesus the Lord be with you now and forever.

Amen!” Welcome now to this grand and mighty army of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on earth.

  • Jesus Christ the only Savior!

“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews the same came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, Rabbi we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no man can do these miracles that you do except God be with him. Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily I say to you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wildness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life. Therefore God sent His Son into the world not to condemn it but that and the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3: 1 – 17). “Uncircumcision of your heart has He quickened together with Him having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the hand writing of ordinances that were against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross”(Colossians 2:13 and 14). Christ invites you with these words: “Come to me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give your rest” (Mathew 11:28). It ought to be great comfort to you and me to hear of any pardon at all: but to hear Jesus Christ himself inviting us, to see God holding out His hand to us - the Savior and Redeemer of mankind seeking the sinner before the sinners seeks the Savior; this is a great encouragement and a strong consolation indeed.

Know that Christ is good and ready to forgive (Psalms 86:5). He delights in mercy (Micah 7:18). Justice and righteousness are the foundation of his throne (Psalm 89:14). He is not willing that any man perish (2 Peter 3:9). He would fain have all men saved and come to the knowledge of truth (Timothy 2:4). He wept over unbelieving Jerusalem. “As I live,” He says, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Turn, turn you from your evil ways; why will you die?” (Ezekiel 33:11). God has loved us with everlasting love. He has done his part in great compassion, and it is for man to take initiative. Know that if you are to die and be condemned for all eternity, it is simply because you loved not the truth an so be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

  • LA GRÂCE DE DIEU EST GRATUITE, MAIS LE TEMPS EST COMPTÉ
    Texte principal : Tite 2:11-12
« Car la grâce de Dieu, source de salut pour tous les hommes, a été manifestée. Elle nous enseigne à renoncer à l’impiété et aux convoitises mondaines, et à vivre dans le siècle présent selon la sagesse, la justice et la piété. »
    Introduction
    Conclusion

    Conclusion
• Good morning, brethren.
    Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    TUESDAY AUGUST 4, 2O26.
    " PATRIA POTESTAS"

'...you received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing son-ship]...’ Romans 8:15 NKJV

PAUL’S AUDIENCE would have understood his use of Roman adoption in teaching the benefits we receive as redeemed members of God’s family. A Roman father held absolute right and control, legally entitled ‘patria potestas’, over his children at any age. Roman adoption was a two-step process that transferred children from one patria potestas to another. 1) Emancipation. This step included a symbolic sale where the natural father twice ‘sold’ and ‘bought back’ his child, and a third where he didn’t buy them back, ending his paternal rights. 2) Vindication. Here the adoptive father presented his case for adoption to a Roman magistrate, who legally transferred the child to his patria potestas. Likewise, we have been transferred from satan’s grip to our heavenly Father’s blessed patria potestas! The benefits of Roman adoption were Paul’s chief focus in Romans chapter eight: a) The adopted person lost all rights in their old family and gained a new father, plus all rights of a legitimate member of their new family. b) They became heir to their new father’s estate. When there were other siblings, they became joint-heirs together. c) All their debts were completely cancelled, legal records of their history were expunged; the past had no effect on their new life. d) Seven citizens witnessed all legal adoptions. If the adoptee’s legitimacy was ever challenged, each witness could testify to their legitimate standing. Thank God, ‘The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children’ (Romans 8:16 NIV). No less than the Holy Spirit Himself validates your membership in God’s family!

*GRACE FOR THE FALLEN ONES* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:2 CORINTHIANS 2:6-11```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 CORINTHIANS 2:11).*_

*In His book, _Uncommon Friends,_ James D. Newton (1905 - 1999) related the story of Thomas A. Edison, who was working on a light bulb, which took a team of men 24 hours to complete. When he finished, he gave it to a young boy to carry upstairs. The boy held it nervously and mistakenly dropped it at the top of the stairs. The entire team took 24 more hours to make another bulb. Finally, tired and ready for a break, Edison was prepared to have his bulb carried up the stairs. He handed it to the same young boy who had dropped the first one. That was a demonstration of true forgiveness.*

*Apostle Paul, in today's text, showed similar forgiveness to an errant member of the Corinthian church. The young man was involved in the egregious sin of sleeping with his father's wife. News of this incest and the associated scandal so grieved the apostle that he cancelled his planned trip to them and wrote a stern rebuke, instructing them to excommunicate the offender. With time, when the discipline had had the expected effect of godly sorrow and repentance on both the incestuous fellow and the church, the apostle recommended that the man be restored fully to fellowship. The penitent offender needed the forgiveness and acceptance of the church to assuage his agony and recover his spiritual confidence.*

*This narrative highlights a balanced blend of chastisement and charity. Apostle Paul reasoned that abandoning the excommunicated offender, even after his repentance, would cause him further torture and give Satan a chance to hijack the affair; "...for we are not ignorant of his devices", he said. Many believers seem to be ignorant of Satan's devices in this regard. Very often, a fallen Christian is left to rot on the island of banishment. Many such forgotten ones would have traced their way back home to Calvary and church, but for the hostile attitude of the believers around them.*

*If God, Apostle Paul, and the Corinthian church could forgive the repentant incestuous backslider, who are we to keep such fallen brethren away from the means of grace? Let us give Satan no advantage over the church.*

*A young student of a university had a prompting of the Holy Spirit to minister to his roommate friend but was ashamed of being identified as a church boy. Incidentally, as he kept resisting the voice of the Spirit to minister to his friend, the sudden news of the friend's death during a long holiday came to him.*

*It was heartbreaking as he felt the guilt of not saving a soul when the opportunity was there for him to do so. He learnt his lessons, but it was too late. Dear youth, are you a child of God? If your answer is yes, then you have a duty to preach the gospel to sinners around you before it is too late. Be not ashamed of the gospel of our Lord.*

    ```MATTHEW 5:14-16```
    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid" (Matthew 5:14).*_

Light is very important because it helps us see and find our way. When it is dark, we can feel lost or scared, but light makes everything clearer and safer.

Just like a small light can brighten a whole room, God's light help us find hope and peace even in tough times. For believers, this light shows the way to follow God's love and truth, guiding us through any challenge we may face.

Light has an amazing power to reveal what is hidden and guide people safely through the dark. Jesus calls us to be that light in the world. Just like a light helps us see in the dark, believers are like lights showing kindness and love to everyone around them.

*When we help others, share love, and talk about God's goodness, we are being the light in the dark world. God wants us to shine bright and make others feel happy and loved, just like a light makes the environment brighter.*

*Being a light does not require doing something extraordinary. It means living out the love of Jesus in your daily life; being kind, being honest, being helpful, and sharing His message of love. Every act of kindness you show is like a little spark that points others to the light of Christ.*

    *PRECEPTS ON CHURCH DISCIPLINE*

    *TEXT:* 2 CORINTHIANS 2:6-11.

6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
    10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

*Timeless Truth:*_"But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons"_ (Hebrews 12:8).

    *INTRODUCTION*

Church discipline is a biblical expression of love, holiness, and restoration. A church without discipline for erring members is not a church of Christ, but a mere association of religious people. God disciplines those that err and He expects us to follow suit.
*"But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons"* (Hebrews 12:8).
It is not designed to destroy offenders, but to correct, restore and preserve the purity of Christ's church. In this passage, Apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian believers on how to handle a repentant offender. He emphasized that discipline must be fair. Repentance and forgiveness must be genuine and believers must be vigilant against Satan's schemes. Every church should maintain a proper balance between firmness against sin and compassion toward the repentant. The attitude of those on discipline should also reflect humility and teachability according to the Word of God.

    *1. Proportionateness in Discipline*

    a. The offender committed immorality with his step mother. That was a heinous sin with no sign of remorse from the culprit and no discipline from the church leadership, until Apostle Paul rebuked them of the gravity of the sin. The man was eventually, excommunicated from the church (1 Corinthians 5). The most serious sin next to physical murder attracted the most serious discipline of excommunication. The discipline must be commensurate with the evil or wrongs that need to be judged or corrected. Paul the apostle declared that the punishment already administered by the majority was sufficient. This teaches that discipline must always be proportionate to the offence and should never become an instrument of revenge or bitterness. There are disciplines that only demand rebuke while there are some that will have more severe punishment. The punishment is to show God's displeasure with sin and to wake up the backslider or sinner from spiritual slumber.
    b. The first is to determine the gravity of the sin and what we want the punishment to achieve, which is majorly restoration. Once the purpose of correction has been achieved, prolonged discipline only produces unnecessary pain. God expects church leaders to administer discipline with wisdom, fairness and love, remembering that the ultimate goal is restoration rather than condemnation. This person was restored to membership and fellowship when the purpose of the excommunication was fulfilled. In fact, the church was not willing to shorten the punishment until Apostle Paul passionately, intervened. True and right attitude of repentance and restitution should command total and timely forgiveness and restoration, especially when the tendency to revert to such things have been crucified and destroyed.

    *Question*

Do I administer correction with love and fairness or do I prolong discipline beyond what is necessary?

    *2. Pardon for Deserving*

    a. After genuine repentance comes genuine forgiveness. The man had the right attitude towards discipline. Some church members are averse to church discipline. Instead of enduring the pain, they decide to go to other churches where their sins would be overlooked. Such are not heaven bound. This man had originally separated himself from the Gentile sinners and identified with believers in Corinth. But the discipline put him in isolation from the only set of people he was closed with, i.e. the believers. Obviously, it is expected that there would be loneliness, isolation and sorrow. Since he refused to go back to the world, but endured the punishment, that was a commendable and expected attitude.
    b. Paul the apostle urged the church to forgive, comfort, and reaffirm their love for the disciplined brother so that he would not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. True Christian discipline always opens the door for restoration. Refusing to forgive a repentant believer contradicts the grace that God has freely extended to us in Christ. Forgiveness heals wounds, restores fellowship and reflects the heart of the gospel. The same thing happens when we are offended by fellow believers. We should be magnanimous in grace and forgiveness when there is genuine repentance.

    *Question*

Am I willing to forgive and restore those who sincerely repent, just as Christ has forgiven me?

    *3. Projects of the Devils*

    a. Satan is never idle or passive. He has his own mapped out agenda, plans, projects for the saints and he always looks out for loopholes and times of carelessness through which he strikes at the least prepared time against the saints. Apostle Paul warned that unnecessarily prolonging the discipline and failure to forgive could give Satan an advantage over the church. The devil exploits bitterness, division, resentment and unforgiveness to weaken Christian fellowship.
    b. While discipline protects the church from sin, unforgiveness opens the door to Satan's destructive work. Believers must therefore, remain spiritually discerning, resisting every scheme of the enemy by walking in love, humility and reconciliation.

    *Question*

Is there any unforgiveness or bitterness in my heart that could give the devil an opportunity in my life or church?

    *Prayer Points*

1.Lord, grant me the wisdom to uphold biblical discipline with justice, love and compassion .
2.Father, give me a forgiving heart that willingly restores every genuinely repentant believer .
3.Give me the right attitude of humility, patience and teachability when I am rebuked or put under discipline .
4.Lord, deliver Your church from bitterness, division and every scheme of Satan .

    *TOPIC:*
SET YOUR HEART ON ETERNAL THINGS.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
The youth of the 21st century is preoccupied with worldly affairs. Today's text urges the believers to shift their focus from worldly pursuits to eternal values. It warns that loving the world and its fleeting pleasures hinders one from experiencing God's love and grace. Loving the world and mundane things is an indication that the love of the Father is absent. Earthly things are temporary, while eternal things last forever. To truly walk with God and be used by Him, young people must let go of materialism and worldly entanglements, setting their hearts on things above. You can achieve this through constant study of the word, a life of prayer, and fellowship with the brethren. On what have you set your heart? Evaluate!

    *REFLECTION:*
The world and it's desires are temporary.

    *PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, help me to pursue eternal things. Amen.

    JEREMIAH 7-10.

    ED.ii. TRULY BORN AGAIN

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17

There are a few essential points when it concerns being born again.

    1) There must be a confession of sins. In other words: you must regret your sins. You have to acknowledge that you have sinned against God. An example is King David's prayer which shows his remorse: 'Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love… Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin… Against You, You only, have I sinned' (Psalm 51:1-4).

    2) You have to know what Jesus Christ did at Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus Christ is the only One who can take sin away. 'The blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin' (1 John 1:7).

    3) There must be a real change in your heart when you are born again. This change is so great that you can say like 2 Corinthians 5:17 that you are created again by God. A whole new life has begun.

    A radical change

These are the essential points to be truly born again. It is not only by believing that you come to heaven; nor do you get to heaven because you go to church. The evil one also believes that Jesus is the Son of God. There are so many things people say which make them think they are born again. My question is: 'what happened when you gave your life to Jesus'? To truly be born again this radical change has to take place in your life. This change makes you turn your back on your old self. If this is not yet the case for you, pray the sinner's prayer with all your heart to God.

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. ⏤ Psalm 3:5

Prayer is aligning ourselves with the purposes of God. ⏤ E. Stanley Jones

To whom, Lord, shall we go but to You? You have the words of eternal life! You alone know our needs—and You alone can meet them. You alone can give us guidance, wisdom, help, comfort in sorrow, forgiveness for sin, and eternal life. We bow at Your feet tonight, knowing that there is no need we have that You cannot meet. You can provide for our bodily needs. You can supply everything we need for our mental and spiritual lives.

This has been a profitable day for us because You have blessed us. We have received new mercies from Your hand. We have had food and clothing, and many of life’s good things. For these common mercies, we thank You. We thank You for all the good that has come to us through our human friends—their sympathy and kindness. We thank You for the love and trust in our home, for all that our home means to us. It is a shelter from life’s storms. We can turn away from the world’s insincerity, self-interest, envy, and bitterness, and always find within our own door—love that is true, deep, unselfish, enriching, and comforting. Here we are sure of each other’s love. We do not need to be on guard as we do when we are outside. So we thank You for the blessing of our home, for its companionship, its joy, its comfort, and the healing of its love.

Help us to make our home holier, more loving, truer and purer, more full of inspiration—the best place in the world to grow. Now while we kneel together as a family around the family altar in our evening prayer, we ask for Your blessing. Abide with us. Be our guest tonight. Bless us in our sleep. Prepare us for a new day, and give us new blessings when it dawns. We ask all in the name of our Redeemer. Amen.

" PATRIA POTESTAS" '...you received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing son-ship]...’ Romans 8:15 NKJV PAUL’S AUDIENCE would have understood his use of Roman adoption in teaching the benefits we receive as redeemed members of God’s family. That was a demonstration of true forgiveness.* *Apostle Paul, in today's text, showed similar forgiveness to an errant member of the Corinthian church. The penitent offender needed the forgiveness and acceptance of the church to assuage his agony and recover his spiritual confidence.* *This narrative highlights a balanced blend of chastisement and charity. Many such forgotten ones would have traced their way back home to Calvary and church, but for the hostile attitude of the believers around them.* *If God, Apostle Paul, and the Corinthian church could forgive the repentant incestuous backslider, who are we to keep such fallen brethren away from the means of grace? For believers, this light shows the way to follow God's love and truth, guiding us through any challenge we may face. Light has an amazing power to reveal what is hidden and guide people safely through the dark. Jesus calls us to be that light in the world. Just like a light helps us see in the dark, believers are like lights showing kindness and love to everyone around them. *When we help others, share love, and talk about God's goodness, we are being the light in the dark world. God wants us to shine bright and make others feel happy and loved, just like a light makes the environment brighter.* *Being a light does not require doing something extraordinary. *1. Proportionateness in Discipline* a. *Question* Do I administer correction with love and fairness or do I prolong discipline beyond what is necessary? *2. Pardon for Deserving* a. *Question* Am I willing to forgive and restore those who sincerely repent, just as Christ has forgiven me? *3. Projects of the Devils* a. *Question* Is there any unforgiveness or bitterness in my heart that could give the devil an opportunity in my life or church? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, grant me the wisdom to uphold biblical discipline with justice, love and compassion 🙏. 2.Father, give me a forgiving heart that willingly restores every genuinely repentant believer 🙏. 3.Give me the right attitude of humility, patience and teachability when I am rebuked or put under discipline 🙏. 4.Lord, deliver Your church from bitterness, division and every scheme of Satan 🙏. *HYMN:* Lower and lower *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 8-9. ED.ii. TRULY BORN AGAIN "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17 There are a few essential points when it concerns being born again. A radical change These are the essential points to be truly born again. If this is not yet the case for you, pray the sinner's prayer with all your heart to God. https://www.theblessingdevotional.com 2. Evening Prayer for today. EP.i. Evening Prayer I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. ⏤ Psalm 3:5 Prayer is aligning ourselves with the purposes of God. ⏤ E. Stanley Jones To whom, Lord, shall we go but to You? Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/29/evening #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

    Can You Trust Your Conscience?

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

When a psychotherapist talks about guilt, he is usually talking about something which the Bible describes as conscience. He’s talking about the emotion which either condemns or exonerates you of your actions. But when the Bible talks about guilt, using the same term which psychotherapy uses, it is in relationship to your standing before God—not your feelings, which may reflect your culture and your understanding of right and wrong.

Shortly before his death, Pol Pot, the Cambodian butcher of several million people, admitted that he had made some “mistakes.” However, he said, “My conscience is clear.” Scores of other criminals from gangster Alger Hiss to Hitler himself justified what they were doing by alleging to have a clear conscience, one void of any offense.

Why does the Bible make such a clear distinction between feelings of guilt or conscience and actual guilt before God? Simply put, your conscience cannot always be trusted. For those who have a clear knowledge of right or wrong, it’s a good measure of your conduct, but for those who have grown up without a clear understanding of right or wrong, of what God expects, your conscience should not be trusted. It tells you that you’re OK when you’re actually in real trouble. This means that a person may stand guilty before God when his own conscience does not condemn him at all. And that’s a dangerous situation to find yourself in. It’s like having an instrument panel that tells you the tank is full, or, when in reality, it’s almost empty, or that you’re flying at a given altitude when in reality you’re about to crash into a mountain.

It’s the attitude in our society—that there is no real right or wrong, nothing that is really moral or immoral apart from what you think—which has contributed to the death of conscience. How? Because the views of society today—what it deems moral or immoral—is at juxtaposition with what God says and expects. If, however, there were no God and no ultimate accountability, your personal conscience would be an acceptable barometer or guide for behavior. On the other hand, if God hasn’t changed his mind about what is moral and immoral, right or wrong, then whether you like it or not, you are responsible for your actions, and someday you will be accountable for them because your conduct as well as your choices come down on the side of guilt.

Now, there’s a redeeming balance, though, to our guilt, and that is the grace of God—his undeserved and unmerited favor that erases your guilt and lets you stand before God forgiven and cleansed. That’s good news! And why doesn’t modern psychotherapy acknowledge that guilt can be balanced by grace? This, of course, means that it would have to acknowledge that God does exist and that our actions which they label as poor choices or mistakes are really sin.

Would that admission be altogether bad? Ask any condemned prisoner if accepting a pardon is bad. Ask anyone who has been granted a reprieve from the ravages of cancer if it’s bad to get a new grip on life.

No, grace is good news. It is the antidote to what’s wrong with the world today. It is the best news that was ever announced to people who know they have fallen short of God’s expectations but don’t know what to do about it. Thank God grace is greater than all our sin.

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    THURSDAY JULY 30, 2O26.
"DEAL WITH THE STUMBLING BLOCKS (2)"

'Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block…in your brother’s way.’
    Romans 14:13 NIV

HERE ARE two more stumbling blocks you need to remove in order to win someone to Christ: 1) boredom. Jesus isn’t boring, but sometimes religion is. The story is told of a lady who fell asleep during the sermon. Pointing at the man sitting next to her, the pastor said, ‘Please wake that woman up!’ The man replied, ‘You put her to sleep, Reverend, you wake her up!’ Jesus is called ‘the Good Shepherd’ (John 10:11), and the Greek word for ‘good’ is ‘kalos’, which means ‘captivating’; that’s the Christ we need to present to those seeking spiritual direction. 2) money. It’s been said the most sensitive nerve in a person’s body is the one that runs to their wallet. Have there been financial scandals in the church? Yes. They even had them in the New Testament church (Acts 5). But don’t throw the baby out with the bath water! It takes money to build churches, feed and clothe the needy and send out missionaries. When money is in the right hands, it’s a solution, not a problem. Furthermore, if God can trust you to finance His plans, He will show you how to make more money. He said, ‘…I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit…’ (Isaiah 48:17 AMP). 3) discomfort. People say, ‘I just don’t feel comfortable in church.’ The truth can do that to you! The gospel is designed to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. When Paul preached, some people trembled, but when trembling leads to trusting in Christ, it’s a good thing.

    THURSDAY 30TH JULY, 2026```

    *GLORIOUS RESTORATION* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽🏽

    ```TEXT:JEREMIAH 50:17-24```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead" (JEREMIAH 50:19).*_

*The story of Jeff, as published on the website of _Changed Lives Archives,_ narrates the amazing account of redemption and restoration of a wandering child come home. He grew up in the church and drifted away from the faith after the sudden death of his father. He pursued a career in rock music, which led him into broken relationships and addiction. However, through the persistent prayers and support of his aunt, Jeff experienced a spiritual revival. He surrendered his life to Christ. The good news and God's intervention must have accelerated his mother's miraculous healing and recovery from cancer.*

*Stepping back into history, the children of Israel had been warned by God to ensure faithful obedience to His laws and complete separation from the contamination of the Gentile nations around them, as they were preparing to inherit the Promised Land. Unfortunately, they kept on disobeying God, and falling into rebellion and idolatry. Eventually, God expressed His divine displeasure after they had exhausted His long rope of love and overdrawn their cheque of mercy. Prophet Jeremiah warned them of the consequences of their disobedience to God and stiff-necked refusal to change their ways and return to the path of righteousness.*

*The pronouncement of judgment eventually took its proper cause, and they went into captivity and suffered terribly in Babylon. The passage today, however, comes with a message of hope and comfort to the people of God. After the expiration of the period of their punishment, Jeremiah returned with a message of glorious restoration, refreshment and satisfaction in their land. Israel would have a second chance, after spending 70 years in exile.*

*This teaches us that no matter how far anyone has wandered away from God, the loving arms of the Lord are wide open to receive such if only the individual will retrace their steps like the prodigal son and return to God, the Father of mercy. Besetting sin is that bad thing you do constantly which makes God unhappy. It could be bad habits, telling lies, living a life of pretense, using abusive words, even after you confess to be born again.

Isaac in our Bible passage never knew that his father (Abraham) told the same lies at the same place, and this continued in their family lineage unconsciously. Jacob, with the support of his mother, also told a lie to his father. Your sin will always follow after you, if you do not repent of it. Yours might be anger or hatred towards others.

Jesus wants to remove such sins from your life and family lineage. *"And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live"* (Deuteronomy 30:6). *Tell Jesus to root out the adamic nature of besetting sin, and make you pure within and without. *BACKSLIDING, JUDGMENT, MERCY AND RESTORATION*

    *TEXT:* JEREMIAH 50:17-24.

17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
18 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
20 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
23 How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

*Timeless Truth:*_"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you"_ (Joel 2:25).

    *INTRODUCTION*

The Book of Judges gives a summary of the events happening to the children of Israel as *"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes."* . First there is obedience to the Word of God which leads to abundance of blessings and victory over the adversaries. Due to their abundance, they went back into idolatry and sinned after which there came oppression and defeat by the adversary nations for many years. In their afflictions, they cried to God and God showed His mercy and restored them. After restoration to blessings, then backsliding set in and the cycle continued to repeat itself. Such is the life of a believer who is not stable in the Lord. The history of Israel reveals both the severity and the goodness of God. When God's people departed from Him, they suffered oppression because of their disobedience. Yet, God never abandoned His covenant people forever. He promised to judge the cruel nations that afflicted them and to restore the repentant remnant. The text teaches that backsliding attracts divine discipline, wicked oppressors will not escape God's judgment, and sincere repentance always opens the door to God's mercy and restoration.

    *1. The Retribution for Backsliding*

    a. Israel is compared to a scattered sheep driven away by fierce lions. Israel, under the shepherd of the Lion of the tribe of Judah, was supposed to be an unconquerable ruler over every nation on earth since they were promised to be the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). They only enjoyed this blessing for a few moments under some of their good kings like David, Solomon, Hezekiah and Josiah. Why was the enjoyment of their promised blessings always short lived? Sin of different forms or different shades. What were the consequences) of their sins? Defeat and oppression from the adversaries.
    b. The Assyrian and Babylonian empires became instruments of God's chastisement because of Israel's persistent rebellion. Sin always weakens believers, exposes them to the enemy and robs them of the peace and blessings of God. Backsliding never leaves anyone better than before. A backslider deprives himself of the best of God. Though God disciplines His children, His purpose is to bring them to repentance and renewed fellowship with Him.

    *Question*

Have you allowed any form of backsliding to expose your life to unnecessary suffering and spiritual defeat?
*2. The Retribution for the Brutal*

    a. Although God used Babylon as an instrument of judgment, He also held Babylon accountable for its cruelty, pride and violence. *"Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria"*. The Lord declared that He would bring desolation upon the land, and trap the nation because it arrogantly opposed Him. No oppressor, persecutor or wicked person escapes God's righteous judgment. Those who exploit others, fight against God's people or exalt themselves against the Lord will ultimately face His justice. There are those who set up snares for God's people and those who are responsible for the fall of God's people. Such people will definitely be judged by God.
    b. *"Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!"* (Matthew 18:3). Those who cause others to offend God or fall into sin will definitely be recompensed by God.

    *Question*

Are you involved directly or indirectly ensnare, beloved of God, to fall by your life, compartments etc.?

    *3. Restoration from Backsliding*

The marvels of God's mercy is God's grace and willingness to totally restore those who are backsliders and are sincerely repentant. Nobody is doomed for destruction except those who willingly reject the mercy of God. The final condemnation of sinners in hell is so severe that God is willing to forgive no matter the gravity of the offence and backsliding. The final word to His people was not destruction, but restoration. He promised to bring Israel back to their own pasture where they would enjoy abundance and satisfaction. Even more wonderful, He declared that their sins would be sought, but not found because He would pardon the remnant whom He preserved. This points to God's abundant mercy toward all who genuinely repent. Through His forgiveness, the repentant sinner is restored to fellowship, usefulness and spiritual fruitfulness.

    *Question*

Have you genuinely returned to God so that you can experience His complete forgiveness and restoration?

    *Prayer Points*

1.Father, deliver me from every form of backsliding and keep my heart steadfast in my walk with You .
2.Lord, forgive all my sins, restore my spiritual strength, and renew my fellowship with You .
3.Help me to be watchful so that I will never be a source of the fall of anybody .
4.Heavenly Father, let Your mercy restore every blessing, opportunity, and spiritual inheritance each of Your children have lost through disobedience, in Jesus' name .

*HYMN:* I have decided to follow Jesus

*BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EPHESIANS 4-6.l.

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ⏤ 2 Corinthians 12:9

Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected. ⏤ Jonathan Edwards

O God, our Father, we, Your children, come to You for a blessing. Just as the earth needs the sun and rain from Heaven—so do our lives need Your grace, love, and life. We cannot live without You. Without blessings from You—our souls would die. Pour upon us Your grace and love as we bow at Your feet.

We have duties to fulfill today, and we need wisdom to do them well. Please bestow upon us the grace that will prepare us for whatever You have planned for us. Help us to live together as a family in a way that honors You. Deepen our love for each other, and help us to be patient and kind in all our interactions. Help us to love like You do. Fill our hearts with Your love—then we will love truly. Destroy all selfishness in us and give us the mind of Christ Jesus. Help us to bear one another's burdens and to be patient with one another. Make our home more and more like Heaven. May we do Your will here as it is done in Heaven. May our love be like Heaven's love in its purity, tenderness, sincerity, and fellowship.

Give us the grace to help each other grow spiritually, to make each other holier, and to encourage each other to love and good works. May we be a means of grace to one another. This morning, we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, that we may receive a new baptism of love as we go out for the day. Keep us from falling along the difficult way. Let no harm come to us. Shield us from temptation—or strengthen us to resist it. Bring us all home safely at nightfall when the day is done. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Good morning, brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. MD.i. 😀🌺🌹🎁🎀💝 MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY THURSDAY JULY 30, 2O26. "DEAL WITH THE STUMBLING BLOCKS (2)" 'Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block…in your brother’s way.’ Romans 14:13 NIV HERE ARE two more stumbling blocks you need to remove in order to win someone to Christ: 1) boredom. He grew up in the church and drifted away from the faith after the sudden death of his father. He pursued a career in rock music, which led him into broken relationships and addiction. However, through the persistent prayers and support of his aunt, Jeff experienced a spiritual revival. He surrendered his life to Christ. The good news and God's intervention must have accelerated his mother's miraculous healing and recovery from cancer.* *Stepping back into history, the children of Israel had been warned by God to ensure faithful obedience to His laws and complete separation from the contamination of the Gentile nations around them, as they were preparing to inherit the Promised Land. Unfortunately, they kept on disobeying God, and falling into rebellion and idolatry. Eventually, God expressed His divine displeasure after they had exhausted His long rope of love and overdrawn their cheque of mercy. Prophet Jeremiah warned them of the consequences of their disobedience to God and stiff-necked refusal to change their ways and return to the path of righteousness.* *The pronouncement of judgment eventually took its proper cause, and they went into captivity and suffered terribly in Babylon. The passage today, however, comes with a message of hope and comfort to the people of God. After the expiration of the period of their punishment, Jeremiah returned with a message of glorious restoration, refreshment and satisfaction in their land. Israel would have a second chance, after spending 70 years in exile.* *This teaches us that no matter how far anyone has wandered away from God, the loving arms of the Lord are wide open to receive such if only the individual will retrace their steps like the prodigal son and return to God, the Father of mercy. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/25/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY JULY 26, 2O26.
    "NEVER STOP LEARNING"

'…You need someone to teach you…’  Hebrews 5:12 NIV

MARLENE LEFEVER quipped, ‘Becoming an effective teacher is simple. You just prepare and prepare until drops of blood appear on your forehead.’ In the 1920s Charlie Chaplin was the most famous person in the world. Born into poverty, he worked on the stage to support himself and by the age of 17 he was a veteran performer. Then at the age of 29 he did something unheard of: he signed the entertainment industry’s first million-dollar contract. But he wasn’t successful simply because he had talent and drive. He was also teachable. He kept learning and perfecting his gift. Even at the height of his career, the highest paid performer in the world didn’t rest on his laurels. He said: ‘When I watch one of my pictures, I pay attention to what the audience doesn’t laugh at. If several audiences don’t laugh at a stunt, I tear it apart and try to discover what’s wrong. On the other hand, if I hear laughter I hadn’t expected, I ask myself why that particular thing rang the bell with the audience.’ The truth is, if Charlie Chaplin had replaced teachability with complacency and arrogance, we probably wouldn’t even remember his name today. But he didn’t. He never forgot the basics and he committed himself to learning. Eventually he co-founded United Artists, a mega-movie company that’s still in business today. There’s an important principle in this story. The Bible says, ‘Though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s Word all over again.’ If you want God to use you, stay teachable and never stop learning.

    ```TEXT:JONAH 2:1-10```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly" (JONAH 2:1).*_

*Sometimes, people wait until they are buffeted by severe suffering, when it appears as if all hope is lost, when their human efforts have failed, before seeking God. They miss the crucial turning point, unlike David who cried out to God: "early will I seek thee... my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee." How wise it is for people to turn to the Lord early, for then they are able to prevent the experiences that leave them bruised all through life, as happened to Jonah.*

*Jonah's suffering was avoidable. He was sent by God to take the message of salvation to Nineveh, but instead of obeying, he consciously rebelled against God. He bought a ticket and boarded a ship heading in the wrong direction. He thought he could outwit God. But there is no hiding place from God. He trailed Jonah in his escape ship with a tempest, and when he was about to be thrown into the sea, God prepared a whale to swallow him. This is in itself an act of mercy, for it is physically impossible to be in the belly of the whale for three days without dying. It means that God allowed Jonah to sink to the depth of hopelessness in the valley of the shadow of death, and yet granted him the grace to consciously bow at last, to His demands.*

*Deep in the belly of the fish, Jonah at last, cried out for mercy from God. He was mortified at the prospect of drowning at sea, and being eternally separated from God. He remembered God, and began to plead passionately to Him for another chance at life. He admitted that he had forsaken his only source of mercy. Now repentant, Jonah pledged his loyalty to God, and promised to redeem his vows, which presumably, included going anywhere the Lord sent him. Expectedly, God graciously extended His salvation to him, and commanded the whale to vomit out Jonah.*

*You must avoid being the architect of your misfortune, and flee from the temptation to reject God's word. You do not need to go through near-death experiences before retracing your steps from rebellion and disobedience. Where you have strayed from God's leading and guidance, and have erected your own devices, or excused your moral failures and weakness in character, you must seek God's mercy, asking for grace to follow Him faithfully, serve Him diligently and obey Him completely. Once He sees your sincerity of purpose, He will pardon and bring you back to His perfect will.*

*For centuries, the great expectation of saints all over the world is the return of Jesus Christ to take away His sons and daughters from this wicked world. The doctrine of the rapture is not misplaced. Peter and the other apostles heard Christ when He told them He would prepare a place for them in His Father's house and return to take them to Himself to live with Him forever.*

*Yet, believers must be aware that Christ also said some might be careless and miss going with Him when He returns. Such careless believers would be left behind. Our passage for today gives hope to all saints of God. It reassures us that Christ would come back for His children, both the living and the dead - those who might die before His return.*

*FROM THE DEPTHS TO DELIVERANCE: LESSONS FROM JONAH'S PRAYER*

    *TEXT:* JONAH 2:1–10

    1. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
    2. and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, And he heard me; Out of the belly of hell cried I, And thou heardest my voice.
    3. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; And the floods compassed me about: All thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
    4. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
    5. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: The depth closed me round about, The weeds were wrapped about my head.
    6. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with her bars was about me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
    7. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: And my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
    8. They that observe lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.
    9. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
    10. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

    *Timeless Truth:*
_‭The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, And delivereth them out of all their troubles._ (Psalm 34:17)

    *INTRODUCTION*

On October 13, 2010, the world watched with amazement as 33 Chilean miners were rescued after spending 69 days trapped nearly 2,300 feet underground following a mine collapse. For weeks, they lived in darkness with limited supplies, uncertain whether they would ever see daylight again. Yet they prayed together, encouraged one another, and held on to hope until the day rescue finally came. Their deliverance became an international testimony of perseverance and hope in seemingly impossible circumstances.
Jonah's experience was even more extraordinary. Because of his disobedience, he found himself in the depths of the sea and inside a great fish. What seemed like the end of his life became the place where he rediscovered the mercy of God. In the darkest moment of his life, Jonah prayed and God answered. Often, God allows us to reach the depths of helplessness so that we may discover the heights of His grace. *“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify Me.”* ( Psalm 50:15)

The book of Jonah chapter 2 teaches us that sincere repentance, steadfast faith and grateful obedience open the door to God's restoring mercy. Jonah discovered that God's mercy is greater than human failure and that no circumstance is beyond His power to redeem.
The question for each of us today is: When God graciously delivers and restores us, will we return to our old ways, or will we rise in grateful obedience and faithfully fulfill His calling?

Jonah's prayer reminds us that no place is too deep for God's grace. The depths of the sea could not separate Jonah from the presence of the Lord. What appeared to be a prison became a place of prayer, repentance and renewal. Many believers experience seasons when they feel overwhelmed by failure, guilt, disappointment or suffering. Jonah's testimony assures us that God hears the cry of the repentant heart.

*1. The Cry of Genuine Repentance*

    a. From inside the great fish, Jonah turned to God in humble prayer, which is the recognition of his distress. Jonah acknowledged that he was in great trouble and could not save himself.
‭*The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.* (Psalm 51:17) God hears the humble cry of those who sincerely turn back to Him. Faith clings to God's mercy, rejects false hopes and worships Him even in adversity.
    b. Jonah recognized that God was still in control, even in the midst of his suffering. Though feeling cast away, Jonah looked again toward God's holy temple in faith. God welcomes sincere repentance. No matter how far we have wandered, His mercy remains available to those who return to Him.

    *Questions*

    i. When I fail, do I run from God or return to Him in repentance?
ii. Am I willing to acknowledge God's sovereignty even during painful experiences?

*2. The Confidence of Growing Faith*

    a. Although Jonah remained inside the fish, his prayer shifted from despair to confident trust.
Jonah remembered the Lord even when hope seemed to disappear. Jonah declared that those who cling to worthless idols forsake God's mercy.
*“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.”* (1 John 5:21)
    b. Jonah promised to offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and fulfill his vows. True faith remembers God's mercy, rejects false securities, and responds with worship and renewed commitment.

    *Questions*

i What "idols" or misplaced confidences might be competing with my trust in God?
ii. Do I thank God only after deliverance or do I worship Him while I am still waiting?

*3. The Celebration of God's Great Deliverance*

    a. God answered Jonah's prayer and commanded the fish to release him onto dry land. God delivers His people according to His perfect timing and restores them for His purposes.
The same God who prepared the fish also commanded it to release Jonah. God delivered Jonah at exactly the right moment.*“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
    b. God restored Jonah, not merely for his comfort, but so he could fulfill the mission to Nineveh.
God's deliverance is never an end in itself. He restores us so that we may return to faithful service.

    *Questions*

    i. After experiencing God's deliverance, am I faithfully fulfilling His purpose for my life?
ii. Do I trust God's timing, even when His answer seems delayed?

    *Prayer Points*

    1. “Lord, give me a humble heart that quickly turns back to You whenever I stray.”
    2. “Father, strengthen my faith to trust You even when I cannot see the way forward.”
    3. “Lord, restore every area of my life that has been damaged by sin, failure or discouragement.”
    4. Heavenly Father, help me obey Your calling faithfully and fulfill the purpose for which You have saved me.

    *Hymn:* Amazing Grace

*THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 33-36.

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⏤ 1 Peter 1:3

The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God's presence. ⏤ John Piper

Our hearts are glad this morning, our Father, as we welcome this new Sunday. Everything within us rejoices and praises You. May our lives rise from the shadows of death into beauty and blessedness.

We thank You for all that the resurrection of Jesus means to us: that death could not hold Him, that He lives now to intercede for us in Heaven, and also to be our Friend and Companion in this world. May the gifts of His grace be poured out upon us. May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts and enrich our lives.

Prepare us for the work and worship of this day. Bless the words we have read from Your holy word. May they become in us divine inspirations, kindling holy thoughts, pure desires, aspirations after holiness, and a love that will make our lives like altars of incense before You.

Bless our home life on this day of rest. Draw us closer together as a family. May our love become deeper, more tender, and more unselfish as we join in worship. May Your blessing rest upon those who preach Your word and upon all who gather for worship. We pray especially for those who carry Your word to those in need. May they have Your power, and may their ministries be blessed.

We give ourselves to You for this day. We desire to make it a day unstained by sinful thoughts or words, a day for receiving new measures of the Holy Spirit, a day for coming very close to Jesus, a day for giving out blessings to others. Forgive us all our sins. Cleanse and purify our lives. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*Timeless Truth:* _‭The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, And delivereth them out of all their troubles._ (Psalm 34:17) *INTRODUCTION* On October 13, 2010, the world watched with amazement as 33 Chilean miners were rescued after spending 69 days trapped nearly 2,300 feet underground following a mine collapse. *“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify Me.”* ( Psalm 50:15) The book of Jonah chapter 2 teaches us that sincere repentance, steadfast faith and grateful obedience open the door to God's restoring mercy. *1. The Cry of Genuine Repentance* a. *Questions* i. When I fail, do I run from God or return to Him in repentance? ii. Am I willing to acknowledge God's sovereignty even during painful experiences? *2. The Confidence of Growing Faith* a. Although Jonah remained inside the fish, his prayer shifted from despair to confident trust. Jonah remembered the Lord even when hope seemed to disappear. Jonah declared that those who cling to worthless idols forsake God's mercy. *“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.”* (1 John 5:21) b. Jonah promised to offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and fulfill his vows. True faith remembers God's mercy, rejects false securities, and responds with worship and renewed commitment. *Questions* i What "idols" or misplaced confidences might be competing with my trust in God? ii. Do I thank God only after deliverance or do I worship Him while I am still waiting? *3. The Celebration of God's Great Deliverance* a. God answered Jonah's prayer and commanded the fish to release him onto dry land. God delivers His people according to His perfect timing and restores them for His purposes. The same God who prepared the fish also commanded it to release Jonah. God delivered Jonah at exactly the right moment.*“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:11) b. God restored Jonah, not merely for his comfort, but so he could fulfill the mission to Nineveh. God's deliverance is never an end in itself. He restores us so that we may return to faithful service. *Questions* i. After experiencing God's deliverance, am I faithfully fulfilling His purpose for my life? ii. Do I trust God's timing, even when His answer seems delayed? *Prayer Points* 1. “Lord, give me a humble heart that quickly turns back to You whenever I stray.”🙏 2. “Father, strengthen my faith to trust You even when I cannot see the way forward.”🙏 3. “Lord, restore every area of my life that has been damaged by sin, failure or discouragement.”🙏 4. Heavenly Father, help me obey Your calling faithfully and fulfill the purpose for which You have saved me.🙏 *Hymn:* Amazing Grace *THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 33-36. 2. Morning Prayer for today. MP.i. Morning Prayer Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⏤ 1 Peter 1:3 The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God's presence. ⏤ John Piper Our hearts are glad this morning, our Father, as we welcome this new Sunday. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/21/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.
