    THE CROSS OF CALVARY 🏽

    MONDAY, 17TH AUGUST, 2026

    TEXT: JOHN 7:37–39

    KEY VERSE:

    «“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” — John 7:37 (KJV)»

    THE LIVING WATER THAT FLOWS FROM CHRIST

    The Cross of Calvary reveals the depth of God's love, but the message of Christ does not end at the Cross. Jesus calls every thirsty soul to come to Him and receive the living water that only He can give.

    There is a thirst in every human heart that money cannot satisfy, success cannot quench, relationships cannot completely fill, and worldly pleasures cannot permanently silence.

    Jesus stands as the answer to that deepest thirst.

    He does not merely offer us something to drink—He offers us Himself.

    THREE TRUTHS FROM JOHN 7

    JESUS INVITES THE THIRSTY.

    «“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” — John 7:37»

    Notice the words: “If any man.”

    The invitation is open to everyone.

    It does not matter how broken your past has been. It does not matter how far you have wandered. It does not matter how empty your heart feels.

    Jesus says:

    COME.

    Come with your weakness.
    Come with your questions.
    Come with your failures.
    Come with your burdens.
    Come with your thirst.

    The answer is found in Christ.

    CHRIST IS THE SOURCE OF TRUE SATISFACTION.

    The world constantly offers temporary solutions to spiritual hunger and thirst.

    It tells us to pursue possessions, pleasure, recognition and human approval.

    But everything the world offers eventually leaves us wanting more.

    Jesus offers something different.

    He gives living water—the life, presence and work of the Holy Spirit within the believer.

    When Christ becomes the centre of your life, you no longer have to depend on the world to define your worth or satisfy your soul.

    Jesus is enough. 🏽

    THE HOLY SPIRIT FLOWS THROUGH THE BELIEVER.

    «“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” — John 7:38»

    Jesus does not intend for us to keep His life within ourselves.

    The living water is meant to flow.

    What God pours into you should become a blessing to others.

    Your testimony can encourage someone.
    Your prayers can strengthen someone.
    Your kindness can restore someone.
    Your witness can lead someone to Christ.

    A believer should not be a spiritual reservoir that only receives.

    We are called to become channels through which God's grace flows.

    TODAY'S REFLECTION

    What are you truly thirsty for?

    Are you thirsty for God—or are you constantly trying to satisfy your heart with the things of this world?

    Jesus is still calling:

    “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.”

    Do not run to the world when your soul is thirsty.

    Run to Jesus.

    When you are empty—come to Jesus.

    When you are discouraged—come to Jesus.

    When you are spiritually dry—come to Jesus.

    When you need direction—come to Jesus.

    When you need peace—come to Jesus.

    The world may offer temporary refreshment, but Christ gives living water.

    And when you have received His living water, allow it to flow through your life and touch others.

    🏽 PRAYER

    Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for giving us Jesus Christ, the source of living water. Thank You that through Him we can receive true spiritual life and satisfaction.

    Lord Jesus, I come to You today with every thirst, every burden and every emptiness in my heart.

    Fill me with Your presence.

    Let the Holy Spirit refresh my soul and strengthen my faith. Remove every desire that has taken Your place in my heart.

    Teach me to seek You above everything else.

    Let the living water within me flow into my family, my relationships, my church, my workplace and everyone I encounter.

    Make my life a vessel through which Your love, grace and truth can reach others.

    May I never try to satisfy my soul with what can only leave me empty.

    Jesus, You are enough for me.

    In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. 🏽

    CALVARY BLESSING

    May the Lord satisfy every spiritual thirst within you.

    May the Holy Spirit refresh your soul.

    May God's presence strengthen you when you are weak.

    May His Word guide you when you are confused.

    May rivers of living water flow through your life and become a blessing to others.

    May your heart always hunger for God and your spirit continually thirst for His presence.

    Come to Christ.
    Drink deeply from His presence.
    Walk in the Spirit.
    Let His life flow through you.

  • Today's Readings are from the Book of 2 Kings 3–4 | 2 Corinthians 10

    Overviews Are Below (PLEASE READ YOUR BIBLE: Overviews Do Not Replace Daily Reading)

    2 Kings 3

    Victory Through Dependence on God

    2 Kings 3 records an alliance between the kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom as they set out to suppress the rebellion of Moab. Although their military strategy appears sound, they soon find themselves in serious trouble. After days of travel, they run out of water, leaving both the armies and their animals in danger. Their greatest problem is not the enemy before them but their inability to continue without God's provision.

    The crisis exposes the difference between the kings. Jehoram reacts with discouragement and assumes disaster is inevitable. Jehoshaphat, however, immediately asks whether there is a prophet of the Lord through whom they can seek God's direction. The chapter reminds us that believers should seek God's wisdom before relying on human solutions, not only after those solutions fail.

    Elisha is brought before the kings. Although he has no respect for Jehoram's idolatry, he ministers because of Jehoshaphat's faithfulness. God graciously chooses to intervene, not because the alliance deserves His help, but because He remains faithful to His own purposes.

    The Lord instructs them to dig ditches throughout the valley, promising that He will provide water without wind or rain. The command requires faith. The people must prepare for God's blessing before they can see it. As they obey, God miraculously fills the valley with water, providing life for His people while simultaneously confusing the Moabites and giving Israel victory.

    The chapter demonstrates that God's provision often arrives in unexpected ways. The Lord is not limited by natural circumstances. He supplies what His people need according to His wisdom and timing. At the same time, the tragic conclusion involving the king of Moab reminds us of the devastating consequences of pagan worship and rebellion against God.

    Theologically, 2 Kings 3 reveals God's sovereignty over both nature and nations. It teaches that victory depends upon seeking the Lord rather than trusting human wisdom alone. The chapter also emphasizes that obedience often precedes visible blessing. God's people are called to trust His Word before they fully understand His methods.

    This chapter points to Christ, who provides living water for all who come to Him. Just as God supplied water in a dry wilderness, Jesus satisfies the deepest spiritual thirst of humanity. Through Him, believers receive life, strength, and victory that cannot be found through human effort alone.

    For believers today, 2 Kings 3 reminds us to seek God's guidance before relying on our own plans. When resources are exhausted and circumstances appear impossible, the Lord remains fully able to provide. In Christ, we are called to obey God's Word faithfully, trusting that He will supply every need according to His perfect wisdom and abundant grace.

    2 Kings 4

    The Compassionate Power of God

    2 Kings 4 presents a series of miracles through Elisha that reveal God's compassion for ordinary people facing extraordinary needs. Rather than focusing on kings and nations, the chapter highlights widows, families, children, and communities. It demonstrates that God's power is not reserved only for dramatic national events but is also active in the personal struggles of His people.

    The chapter begins with a widow burdened by debt and the threat of losing her sons. Through Elisha, God miraculously multiplies her small supply of oil until every available container is filled. The miracle teaches that God often begins with what His people already possess, multiplying humble resources to meet overwhelming needs. His provision is abundant, yet it also requires obedience and faith.

    The narrative then turns to the Shunammite woman, whose generous hospitality toward God's servant is met with an unexpected blessing. God grants her a son, yet years later the child suddenly dies. Instead of surrendering to despair, she seeks the Lord through Elisha with determined faith. God restores the child's life, demonstrating His authority over death and His faithfulness to those who trust Him.

    The remaining miracles continue revealing God's compassionate care. Poisonous food is made safe, and a small amount of bread is multiplied to feed many people. Each miracle points beyond Elisha himself to the Lord, who delights in meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

    Throughout the chapter, a consistent pattern emerges. God responds to faith, honors generosity, and provides for those who depend upon Him. His miracles are not displays of power for their own sake but expressions of His loving care for His covenant people.

    Theologically, 2 Kings 4 reveals God's compassionate character. He is concerned with the needs of widows, grieving parents, hungry communities, and faithful servants. The chapter also demonstrates that God's resources are never limited. He is able to provide, restore, heal, and sustain according to His perfect will.

    This chapter points beautifully to Christ. Jesus likewise multiplied food for the hungry, raised the dead, cared for widows, and ministered with compassion to those in need. Every miracle performed through Elisha foreshadows the greater ministry of Christ, who not only meets physical needs but offers eternal life through His death and resurrection.

    For believers today, 2 Kings 4 reminds us that no need is too small for God's attention. He cares deeply about the struggles of everyday life and invites us to trust Him with every concern. In Christ, we serve a Savior whose compassion never fails and whose resources are limitless. As we bring our needs to Him in faith and obedience, we discover again that our God is both able and willing to provide according to His perfect love.

    2 Corinthians 10 — Spiritual Warfare and the Authority of the Christ

    2 Corinthians chapter 10 marks a transition in the letter as Paul begins to defend the integrity of his ministry against those who questioned his authority. Rather than responding with pride or personal ambition, he continually points the believers back to the Christ, the Son of God. The chapter reveals that the redemptive plan advances not through human strength or worldly influence, but through spiritual power that comes from God. Christian living is therefore a spiritual battle, requiring believers to rely completely upon the authority of the Christ.

    The chapter begins with Paul's appeal in the gentleness and meekness of the Christ. His approach reflects the character of the Son of God, who combined humility with unwavering truth. Christian leadership is not exercised through intimidation or self-promotion but through faithful obedience to the Christ. The redemptive plan is carried forward by servants who imitate the humility and compassion of their Savior.

    Paul then addresses accusations that he operated according to worldly methods. He acknowledges that believers live in a physical world, but he makes it clear that the battle they fight is spiritual. The weapons God provides are entirely different from those valued by the world. Human wisdom, influence, and power cannot accomplish what only the Christ can do. The redemptive plan advances through the truth of God's Word, the power of the Holy Spirit, prayer, and faithful obedience.

    A central emphasis of the chapter is the battle for the mind. Strongholds are described as patterns of thinking, arguments, and beliefs that oppose the knowledge of God. The Christ calls believers to bring every thought into submission to His lordship. Christian living is not merely about controlling outward behavior but allowing the truth of the Son of God to reshape the way we think. Transformation begins in the mind as believers submit every area of life to His authority.

    Paul also reminds the Corinthians that spiritual authority is given for building people up rather than tearing them down. The purpose of ministry is always restoration, encouragement, and growth in the Christ. The redemptive plan produces servants who seek the spiritual health of God's people rather than their own recognition or influence.

    The chapter addresses the danger of comparing ourselves with others. Those opposing Paul measured success by outward appearance, personal reputation, and human achievement. Paul rejects this entirely. Christian living is not about competing with other believers but faithfully fulfilling the calling God has given. The Son of God measures faithfulness rather than popularity, obedience rather than public recognition.

    There is also a strong emphasis on staying within the sphere of ministry God has assigned. Rather than seeking personal advancement, Paul desires only to faithfully accomplish the work entrusted to him. This demonstrates humility and contentment in the redemptive plan. The Christ appoints different responsibilities to different believers, and each is called to serve faithfully where God has placed them.
    The chapter concludes with a warning against self-commendation. Human approval is temporary and unreliable, but God's approval is eternal. The only praise that ultimately matters is the commendation that comes from the Christ. Christian living therefore seeks to please the Son of God above all else, recognizing that He alone judges with perfect wisdom and righteousness.

    Throughout this chapter, the Christ is presented as the source of true authority, true strength, and true victory. His power tears down spiritual strongholds, transforms minds, equips His servants, and advances His redemptive plan throughout the world. Every victory belongs to Him alone.

    For believers today, this chapter reminds us that our greatest battles are spiritual rather than merely physical. Christian living requires us to depend daily upon the power of the Christ rather than our own abilities. We are called to guard our minds with His truth, reject worldly standards of success, and faithfully serve within the calling He has given us. As we submit every thought, every ambition, and every area of life to the Son of God, we become effective servants in His redemptive plan, living for His glory rather than our own.

As we submit every thought, every ambition, and every area of life to the Son of God, we become effective servants in His redemptive plan, living for His glory rather than our own. #DailyBibleReading #OpenYourBible #StudyTheWord #ScriptureForToday #FaithJourney #GodsWord #BibleTime #WalkWithGod

  • DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 222
    DATE: 10TH AUGUST 2026
    TOPIC: ARISE AND TAKE YOUR PLACE
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 3:8 (NLT)
    “So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them up from Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land.”
    Devotional message:

    When the Israelites cried out because of the oppression they were experiencing under the Egyptians and Pharaoh, heaven responded by raising a deliverer. Moses was born, prepared, and eventually sent by God to lead Israel out of Egypt.

    This reveals a powerful truth: God often responds to the cries of a generation by raising people who will become part of the answer.

    Moses was not born by accident. His arrival was connected to a divine assignment. There was a cry in Egypt, and God had already prepared a deliverer. In the same way, your birth, location, family, community, and generation are not accidents. God has positioned you somewhere for a purpose.

    There may be a cry in your community for transformation, and God may have raised you to become part of the answer. There may be a cry for good governance, integrity, justice, and righteous leadership, and God may be preparing you to bring change. There may be a cry within your family for someone to arise and break cycles of poverty, oppression, ignorance, or darkness, and God may have positioned you to become that person.

    Sometimes we complain about the very things God has given us an assignment to address. We lament about corruption but do not pursue integrity. We complain about poverty but do not develop solutions. We complain about the condition of our families but do not take responsibility for becoming agents of change. We complain about the state of our communities, churches, workplaces, and nations while waiting for someone else to arise.

    Child of God, perhaps the cry you hear is the reason God positioned you there.

    Moses could have remained in Midian and continued with his own life, but God called him back to Egypt because there was a people who needed deliverance. Your assignment may require you to leave your comfort zone and step into the place where your generation needs you.

    Therefore, arise from sleep, slumber, fear, excuses, and procrastination. Discover what God has entrusted to you and begin to take faithful steps toward fulfilling it.

    That business you desire to establish, that ministry God has placed in your heart, that family you desire to transform, that community you desire to influence, or that change you desire to see may not happen through complaints and murmuring. Someone must arise and take the first step.

    Do not wait for perfect conditions before you begin. Moses had limitations, questions, and fears, yet God still called him. What matters is not that you have everything figured out, but that you are willing to surrender yourself to God and allow Him to work through you.

    The cry of a generation may be God's invitation to you.Arise. Take your place. Become the answer.

    God can raise a person to become an answer to the cry of a generation. Stop merely complaining about what is wrong around you and ask God how He wants to use you to bring the change you desire to see.

    Prayer:

    Heavenly Father,Thank You for creating me intentionally and positioning me for a purpose. Open my eyes to understand why You have placed me in my family, community, workplace, church, nation, and generation.In Jesus' name, Amen.

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26.
    "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’"

    ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT

    WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’

    *TRUSTING GOD'S WISDOM THROUGH JUDGMENT AND GRACE*

    *TEXT:* ISAIAH 28:18–29

    18. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
    19. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
    20. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
    21. For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
    22. Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
    23. Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.
    24. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?
    25. When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and rie in their place?
    26. For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.
    27. For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
    28. Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
    29. This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

    *Timeless Truth:*

    _Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._
    ( Proverbs 3:5–6)

    *INTRODUCTION*

    During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (1933–1937), many workers initially feared working hundreds of feet above the water. After several fatal accidents, engineers installed a massive safety net beneath the bridge. Although the net cost a significant amount of money, it saved many lives and gave workers greater confidence to continue their work. What seemed restrictive actually became a means of preservation.
    Similarly, God's discipline and correction may appear unpleasant or restrictive, but they are expressions of His wisdom and love. Isaiah 28 addresses Judah's misplaced confidence in political alliances rather than in God. Through the prophet, the Lord warned that every false refuge would fail, yet He also revealed that His judgments are purposeful, measured and redemptive.
    The illustration of the farmer (vv. 23–29) teaches that just as a skilled farmer knows the proper method and timing for cultivating each crop, God perfectly knows how to deal with His people.

    *For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6)

    God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness. Our heavenly Father knows every detail of our lives. He knows when to comfort, when to correct, when to wait and when to act. What may seem confusing or painful to us is never without purpose in His hands.
    Sometimes God allows difficult seasons to break the hard soil of pride. At other times He plants seeds of truth, waters them with His grace and patiently waits for spiritual fruit. Even His discipline is measured by perfect wisdom and infinite love. Therefore, let us not resist His work, but submit to it. Let us abandon every false refuge and place our complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ—the sure foundation that will never fail.
    As we trust Him, we will discover that His wisdom is flawless, His discipline is loving and His purposes are always for our good and His glory.

    *1. The Collapse of False Confidence*

    a. Judah trusted in deceptive alliances instead of depending on God.
    Their "covenant with death" would be annulled because no human refuge can replace God's protection.
    The Bible says: *Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.*(Psalm 20:7)
    Isaiah describes a bed too short and a covering too narrow, illustrating the insufficiency of human solutions.
    b. God's judgment is described as His "unusual work," showing that while He is just, He takes no delight in punishing His people. When we build our lives on wealth, influence, intellect or human security instead of Christ, disappointment is inevitable.

    *Questions*

    (i) What am I trusting most for my security—God or human resources?
    (ii) Have I built my life upon Christ, the only sure foundation?

    *2. The Counsel of Perfect Wisdom*

    a. Isaiah invites the people to observe the wisdom of a farmer who works with understanding.
    The farmer knows when to plow, sow and cultivate because God teaches him. The farmer does not plow endlessly; each season has its purpose. *“To everything there is a season.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
    b. Every action is intended to produce a fruitful harvest.
    *“No chastening seems to be joyful... nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”* (Hebrews 12:11). God knows exactly what we need and when we need it. His timing and methods are always perfect.

    *Questions*

    (i) Am I patiently submitting to God's process even when I do not fully understand it?
    (ii) Do I seek God's wisdom before making important decisions?

    *3. The Compassion of God's Discipline*

    a. Our text concludes with the illustration that different crops require different methods of threshing, demonstrating God's wisdom and moderation. The farmer adjusts his methods according to the crop. Likewise, God disciplines each believer wisely and appropriately. God never disciplines beyond what is necessary to accomplish His purpose.
    b. Isaiah concludes by praising God's wonderful counsel and excellent wisdom. Even when God's dealings are difficult to understand, we can trust that they are always governed by love, wisdom and grace.

    *Questions*

    (i) Do I view God's discipline as punishment or as a loving correction designed for my growth?
    (ii) Am I willing to let God shape my character through His refining work?

    *Prayer Points*

    1. Lord, help me to place my confidence entirely in You and not in human strength or worldly security.
    2. Father, grant me wisdom to understand Your ways and to make decisions that honour You.
    3. Lord, give me a teachable heart that receives Your correction with humility and obedience.
    4. Heavenly Father, cultivate my life so that I may bear lasting fruit for Your glory.

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it" (ISAIAH 28:18).*_
    *Prophet Isaiah was a balanced prophet. He was not the type of prophet with a sugarcoated tongue who only prophesied peace without condemning the iniquities of the people. This prophet was so bold as to let the Jewish people know that whatever they trusted for justification or protection, or for happiness or healing and deliverance, except for the righteousness of God and the influence and power of the Holy Ghost, would ultimately prove abortive and vain.*
    *According to the text, the Jews believed in their works of righteousness, which God told them would not suffice. The text describes the bed as too short, and the covering too narrow. This tells us that trusting and resting on our own will and self-management will result in regret and gross disappointment. Religion is not enough; true righteousness from Christ must be carefully sought and wisely husbanded.*
    *Prophet Isaiah compares God's work among the nations to those of a farmer on his soil. The husbandman (farmer) does his work with pains and prudence and handles the plants according to their nature. The Almighty God who gives men this great wisdom is wonderful in counsel and excellent in His working.*
    *Afflictions are God's threshing instruments to loosen us from the world, to part between us and our chaff, and to prepare us for use. As the occasion requires, the Lord warns, corrects, spares, shows mercy or executes vengeance. How we need to heed God's warning today and not to trust in anything outside Christ. It takes trust and diligence to please God. It takes confidence and faith in His promises to appropriate His blessings, with a firm and unflagging resolve to abide in His will.*
    ``` MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Abstain from all appearance of evil" (1 THESSALONIANS 5:22).*_

    *Saint Ambrose rightly observed that "a good youth ought to have a fear of God, to be subject to his parents, to give honour to his elders, to preserve his purity; he ought not to despise humility, but should love forbearance and modesty. All these are an ornament to youthful years."*

    *The youthful stage is characterised by a system of breaking God's rules of purity. The systemic impurity that is typical of many youths has ruined the lives of many of them. The strong Samson fell on Delilah's laps, as he yielded himself to impurity.*

    *Sin is the route to the downfall of youths and their damnation in hell fire if they fail to repent and abstain from all evils now. Abstinence implies staying away from whatsoever appears to be evil.*

    *In clear language, to abstain from appearance of evil is to abstain from fornication, pornography, lesbianism, homosexuality, lust, covetousness, lying, stealing, and the likes. If you must keep your relationship with God, you must be ready to abstain from whatsoever negates purity and godly atmosphere around you.*

    ```JOHN 8:34-36```
    ```Key Verse:``` _*"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).*_

    Many nations of the world celebrate their independence every year. It is like a ritual that is observed in commemoration of their independence from colonial or oppressive masters. Each country has her special day of the year to celebrate its independence.

    The children of Israel were once slaves in Egypt. God then led them out of slavery through Moses their leader. Independence means freedom to exercise your human rights. This is the physical meaning. In the spiritual, it is different.

    Independence means total deliverance from sin and all its influence. No one can become free without knowing and accepting the Truth. This Truth is God's word, which Jesus represents. Jesus is the word of God that was from the beginning, and is forever.

    *To be free therefore, a sinner must take these steps: Acknowledge his sinfulness. Repent and confess his sins to God. Pray for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Ask Jesus into your heart to be your personal Saviour and Lord.*

    *Continue with the Truth that sets free by praying every day, reading, meditating on and obeying God's word. Remember that it is only those that know the Truth, believe the Truth, and obey the Truth that shall be free indeed.*

    ```rayer:``` _*Lord Jesus, the Son of God, please wash me in your blood and make me free indeed.*_ 🏽
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ⏤ Psalm 67:1
    Wherever God rules over the human heart as King, there is the kingdom of God established. ⏤ Paul Washer
    O God, our Father, as we begin this Sunday, we look to You for a blessing. Just as the earth opens its eyes to the sun, whose beams pour down in brightness upon fields and forests, so do we open our eyes to You this morning. May the gracious beams of Your love shine upon us. Then our hearts will rejoice, for if we have Your favor, we truly live.
    Fill us with Your Spirit, and may all our thoughts, feelings, and desires be sweetened by Your presence. Sanctify to us all the privileges we will enjoy today. May our rest be undisturbed by anything worldly that might disrupt its peace. As we wait upon You, may our strength be renewed. May Your word, which we will hear today, be richly blessed to us. May its teachings be clear, and may we receive them into good and honest hearts, where they can bring forth fruit.
    Let Your blessing be upon all who will minister in the churches today, leading worship and preaching to Your people. May they be in the Spirit, and may their words be filled with the Spirit. Make them holy, with clean hands and pure hearts. Give them the right motives as they minister in Your name.
    Let Your blessing be upon all the congregations that will gather for worship today. May all hearts be open to the influence of the Holy Spirit. Enter every open heart, and by Your loving persuasion, win over those whose hearts have been closed to You. So may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We ask for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26.
    "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’"
    ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT
    WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’
    25. When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and rie in their place?
    26. For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.
    27. For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
    28. Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
    29. This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
    *Timeless Truth:*
    _Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._
    ( Proverbs 3:5–6)
    *INTRODUCTION*
    During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (1933–1937), many workers initially feared working hundreds of feet above the water. After several fatal accidents, engineers installed a massive safety net beneath the bridge. Although the net cost a significant amount of money, it saved many lives and gave workers greater confidence to continue their work. What seemed restrictive actually became a means of preservation.
    Similarly, God's discipline and correction may appear unpleasant or restrictive, but they are expressions of His wisdom and love. Isaiah 28 addresses Judah's misplaced confidence in political alliances rather than in God. Through the prophet, the Lord warned that every false refuge would fail, yet He also revealed that His judgments are purposeful, measured and redemptive.
    The illustration of the farmer (vv. 23–29) teaches that just as a skilled farmer knows the proper method and timing for cultivating each crop, God perfectly knows how to deal with His people.
    *For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6)
    God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness. Our heavenly Father knows every detail of our lives. He knows when to comfort, when to correct, when to wait and when to act. What may seem confusing or painful to us is never without purpose in His hands.
    Sometimes God allows difficult seasons to break the hard soil of pride. At other times He plants seeds of truth, waters them with His grace and patiently waits for spiritual fruit. Even His discipline is measured by perfect wisdom and infinite love. Therefore, let us not resist His work, but submit to it. Let us abandon every false refuge and place our complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ—the sure foundation that will never fail.
    As we trust Him, we will discover that His wisdom is flawless, His discipline is loving and His purposes are always for our good and His glory.
    *1. The Collapse of False Confidence*
    a. Judah trusted in deceptive alliances instead of depending on God.
    Their "covenant with death" would be annulled because no human refuge can replace God's protection.
    The Bible says: *Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.*(Psalm 20:7)
    Isaiah describes a bed too short and a covering too narrow, illustrating the insufficiency of human solutions.
    b. God's judgment is described as His "unusual work," showing that while He is just, He takes no delight in punishing His people. When we build our lives on wealth, influence, intellect or human security instead of Christ, disappointment is inevitable.
    *Questions*
    (i) What am I trusting most for my security—God or human resources?
    (ii) Have I built my life upon Christ, the only sure foundation?
    *2. The Counsel of Perfect Wisdom*
    a. Isaiah invites the people to observe the wisdom of a farmer who works with understanding.
    The farmer knows when to plow, sow and cultivate because God teaches him. The farmer does not plow endlessly; each season has its purpose. *“To everything there is a season.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
    b. Every action is intended to produce a fruitful harvest.
    *“No chastening seems to be joyful... nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”* (Hebrews 12:11). God knows exactly what we need and when we need it. His timing and methods are always perfect.
    *Questions*
    (i) Am I patiently submitting to God's process even when I do not fully understand it?
    (ii) Do I seek God's wisdom before making important decisions?
    *3. The Compassion of God's Discipline*
    a. Our text concludes with the illustration that different crops require different methods of threshing, demonstrating God's wisdom and moderation. The farmer adjusts his methods according to the crop. Likewise, God disciplines each believer wisely and appropriately. God never disciplines beyond what is necessary to accomplish His purpose.
    b. Isaiah concludes by praising God's wonderful counsel and excellent wisdom. Even when God's dealings are difficult to understand, we can trust that they are always governed by love, wisdom and grace.
    *Questions*
    (i) Do I view God's discipline as punishment or as a loving correction designed for my growth?
    (ii) Am I willing to let God shape my character through His refining work?
    *Prayer Points*
    1. Lord, help me to place my confidence entirely in You and not in human strength or worldly security.
    2. Father, grant me wisdom to understand Your ways and to make decisions that honour You.
    3. Lord, give me a teachable heart that receives Your correction with humility and obedience.
    4. Heavenly Father, cultivate my life so that I may bear lasting fruit for Your glory.
    *Prophet Isaiah was a balanced prophet. He was not the type of prophet with a sugarcoated tongue who only prophesied peace without condemning the iniquities of the people. This prophet was so bold as to let the Jewish people know that whatever they trusted for justification or protection, or for happiness or healing and deliverance, except for the righteousness of God and the influence and power of the Holy Ghost, would ultimately prove abortive and vain.*
    *According to the text, the Jews believed in their works of righteousness, which God told them would not suffice. The text describes the bed as too short, and the covering too narrow. This tells us that trusting and resting on our own will and self-management will result in regret and gross disappointment. Religion is not enough; true righteousness from Christ must be carefully sought and wisely husbanded.*
    *Prophet Isaiah compares God's work among the nations to those of a farmer on his soil. The husbandman (farmer) does his work with pains and prudence and handles the plants according to their nature. The Almighty God who gives men this great wisdom is wonderful in counsel and excellent in His working.*
    *Afflictions are God's threshing instruments to loosen us from the world, to part between us and our chaff, and to prepare us for use. As the occasion requires, the Lord warns, corrects, spares, shows mercy or executes vengeance. How we need to heed God's warning today and not to trust in anything outside Christ.     Many nations of the world celebrate their independence every year. It is like a ritual that is observed in commemoration of their independence from colonial or oppressive masters. Each country has her special day of the year to celebrate its independence.
    The children of Israel were once slaves in Egypt. God then led them out of slavery through Moses their leader. Independence means freedom to exercise your human rights. This is the physical meaning. In the spiritual, it is different.
    Independence means total deliverance from sin and all its influence. No one can become free without knowing and accepting the Truth. This Truth is God's word, which Jesus represents. Jesus is the word of God that was from the beginning, and is forever.
    *To be free therefore, a sinner must take these steps: Acknowledge his sinfulness. Repent and confess his sins to God. Pray for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Ask Jesus into your heart to be your personal Saviour and Lord.*
    *Continue with the Truth that sets free by praying every day, reading, meditating on and obeying God's word. Remember that it is only those that know the Truth, believe the Truth, and obey the Truth that shall be free indeed.*
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ⏤ Psalm 67:1
    Wherever God rules over the human heart as King, there is the kingdom of God established. ⏤ Paul Washer
    O God, our Father, as we begin this Sunday, we look to You for a blessing. Just as the earth opens its eyes to the sun, whose beams pour down in brightness upon fields and forests, so do we open our eyes to You this morning. May the gracious beams of Your love shine upon us. Then our hearts will rejoice, for if we have Your favor, we truly live.
    Fill us with Your Spirit, and may all our thoughts, feelings, and desires be sweetened by Your presence. Sanctify to us all the privileges we will enjoy today. May our rest be undisturbed by anything worldly that might disrupt its peace. As we wait upon You, may our strength be renewed. May Your word, which we will hear today, be richly blessed to us. May its teachings be clear, and may we receive them into good and honest hearts, where they can bring forth fruit.
    Let Your blessing be upon all who will minister in the churches today, leading worship and preaching to Your people. May they be in the Spirit, and may their words be filled with the Spirit. Make them holy, with clean hands and pure hearts. Give them the right motives as they minister in Your name.
    Let Your blessing be upon all the congregations that will gather for worship today. May all hearts be open to the influence of the Holy Spirit. Enter every open heart, and by Your loving persuasion, win over those whose hearts have been closed to You. So may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We ask for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
    Good morning, brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. MD.i. 😀🎀💝🎁🌺🌹MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26. "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’" ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Bible In A Year: Judg. 1-3; Matt 15: 29-39; Ps 119:49-56; Pr 17:18-21. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ⏤ Psalm 67:1 Wherever God rules over the human heart as King, there is the kingdom of God established. ⏤ Paul Washer O God, our Father, as we begin this Sunday, we look to You for a blessing. Just as the earth opens its eyes to the sun, whose beams pour down in brightness upon fields and forests, so do we open our eyes to You this morning. May the gracious beams of Your love shine upon us. Then our hearts will rejoice, for if we have Your favor, we truly live. Fill us with Your Spirit, and may all our thoughts, feelings, and desires be sweetened by Your presence. Sanctify to us all the privileges we will enjoy today. May our rest be undisturbed by anything worldly that might disrupt its peace. As we wait upon You, may our strength be renewed. May Your word, which we will hear today, be richly blessed to us. May its teachings be clear, and may we receive them into good and honest hearts, where they can bring forth fruit. Let Your blessing be upon all who will minister in the churches today, leading worship and preaching to Your people. May they be in the Spirit, and may their words be filled with the Spirit. Make them holy, with clean hands and pure hearts. Give them the right motives as they minister in Your name. Let Your blessing be upon all the congregations that will gather for worship today. MD.i. 😀🎀💝🎁🌺🌹MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26. "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’" ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Bible In A Year: Judg. 1-3; Matt 15: 29-39; Ps 119:49-56; Pr 17:18-21. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._ ( Proverbs 3:5–6) *INTRODUCTION* During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (1933–1937), many workers initially feared working hundreds of feet above the water. After several fatal accidents, engineers installed a massive safety net beneath the bridge. Although the net cost a significant amount of money, it saved many lives and gave workers greater confidence to continue their work. What seemed restrictive actually became a means of preservation. Similarly, God's discipline and correction may appear unpleasant or restrictive, but they are expressions of His wisdom and love. Isaiah 28 addresses Judah's misplaced confidence in political alliances rather than in God. Through the prophet, the Lord warned that every false refuge would fail, yet He also revealed that His judgments are purposeful, measured and redemptive. The illustration of the farmer (vv. 23–29) teaches that just as a skilled farmer knows the proper method and timing for cultivating each crop, God perfectly knows how to deal with His people. *For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6) God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness. Our heavenly Father knows every detail of our lives. He knows when to comfort, when to correct, when to wait and when to act. What may seem confusing or painful to us is never without purpose in His hands. Sometimes God allows difficult seasons to break the hard soil of pride. At other times He plants seeds of truth, waters them with His grace and patiently waits for spiritual fruit. Even His discipline is measured by perfect wisdom and infinite love. Therefore, let us not resist His work, but submit to it. Let us abandon every false refuge and place our complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ—the sure foundation that will never fail. As we trust Him, we will discover that His wisdom is flawless, His discipline is loving and His purposes are always for our good and His glory. *1. The Collapse of False Confidence* a. Judah trusted in deceptive alliances instead of depending on God. Their "covenant with death" would be annulled because no human refuge can replace God's protection. The Bible says: *Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.*(Psalm 20:7) Isaiah describes a bed too short and a covering too narrow, illustrating the insufficiency of human solutions. b. God's judgment is described as His "unusual work," showing that while He is just, He takes no delight in punishing His people. When we build our lives on wealth, influence, intellect or human security instead of Christ, disappointment is inevitable. *Questions* (i) What am I trusting most for my security—God or human resources? (ii) Have I built my life upon Christ, the only sure foundation? *2. The Counsel of Perfect Wisdom* a. Isaiah invites the people to observe the wisdom of a farmer who works with understanding. The farmer knows when to plow, sow and cultivate because God teaches him. The farmer does not plow endlessly; each season has its purpose. *“To everything there is a season.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:1) b. Every action is intended to produce a fruitful harvest. *“No chastening seems to be joyful... nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”* (Hebrews 12:11). God knows exactly what we need and when we need it. His timing and methods are always perfect. *Questions* (i) Am I patiently submitting to God's process even when I do not fully understand it? (ii) Do I seek God's wisdom before making important decisions? *3. The Compassion of God's Discipline* a. Our text concludes with the illustration that different crops require different methods of threshing, demonstrating God's wisdom and moderation. The farmer adjusts his methods according to the crop. Likewise, God disciplines each believer wisely and appropriately. God never disciplines beyond what is necessary to accomplish His purpose. b. Isaiah concludes by praising God's wonderful counsel and excellent wisdom. Even when God's dealings are difficult to understand, we can trust that they are always governed by love, wisdom and grace. *Questions* (i) Do I view God's discipline as punishment or as a loving correction designed for my growth? (ii) Am I willing to let God shape my character through His refining work? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord, help me to place my confidence entirely in You and not in human strength or worldly security.🙏 2. Father, grant me wisdom to understand Your ways and to make decisions that honour You.🙏 3. Lord, give me a teachable heart that receives Your correction with humility and obedience.🙏 4.     THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26.
    "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’"
    ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT
    WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’
    Many nations of the world celebrate their independence every year. It is like a ritual that is observed in commemoration of their independence from colonial or oppressive masters. Each country has her special day of the year to celebrate its independence.
    The children of Israel were once slaves in Egypt. God then led them out of slavery through Moses their leader. Independence means freedom to exercise your human rights. This is the physical meaning. In the spiritual, it is different.
    Independence means total deliverance from sin and all its influence. No one can become free without knowing and accepting the Truth. This Truth is God's word, which Jesus represents. Jesus is the word of God that was from the beginning, and is forever.
    *To be free therefore, a sinner must take these steps: Acknowledge his sinfulness. Repent and confess his sins to God. Pray for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Ask Jesus into your heart to be your personal Saviour and Lord.*
    *Continue with the Truth that sets free by praying every day, reading, meditating on and obeying God's word. Remember that it is only those that know the Truth, believe the Truth, and obey the Truth that shall be free indeed.*
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ⏤ Psalm 67:1
    Wherever God rules over the human heart as King, there is the kingdom of God established. ⏤ Paul Washer
    O God, our Father, as we begin this Sunday, we look to You for a blessing. Just as the earth opens its eyes to the sun, whose beams pour down in brightness upon fields and forests, so do we open our eyes to You this morning. May the gracious beams of Your love shine upon us. Then our hearts will rejoice, for if we have Your favor, we truly live.
    Fill us with Your Spirit, and may all our thoughts, feelings, and desires be sweetened by Your presence. Sanctify to us all the privileges we will enjoy today. May our rest be undisturbed by anything worldly that might disrupt its peace. As we wait upon You, may our strength be renewed. May Your word, which we will hear today, be richly blessed to us. May its teachings be clear, and may we receive them into good and honest hearts, where they can bring forth fruit.
    Let Your blessing be upon all who will minister in the churches today, leading worship and preaching to Your people. May they be in the Spirit, and may their words be filled with the Spirit. Make them holy, with clean hands and pure hearts. Give them the right motives as they minister in Your name.
    Let Your blessing be upon all the congregations that will gather for worship today. May all hearts be open to the influence of the Holy Spirit. Enter every open heart, and by Your loving persuasion, win over those whose hearts have been closed to You. So may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We ask for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
    1. Morning devotion for today.
    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26.
    "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’"
    ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT
    WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. You wonder why you lived so long with it weighing you down. It’s the same with mental and emotional clutter. Jon Gordon says, ‘We fill our minds with thoughts that hold us back, habits that limit us, distractions that derail us, negative people who drain us, fear that paralyses us, time-sappers that sabotage our productivity. We spend so much time and energy on things that don’t matter—we fail to focus on what does matter. We fill up with so many things that generate negative energy, there’s no room for positive energy in our lives.’ Paul writes, ‘…throw off your…former way of life…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes’ (vv. 22-23 NLT). The clutter you need to lose includes: believing that you’re alone, trying to please everybody, feeling insecure, putting yourself down, needing everybody to like you, jumping to negative conclusions before you know the facts, thinking you’re always right, recalling all the times you messed up, wanting to know how it all turns out, needing to have all the answers, worrying that if you let go of the memorabilia you’ll lose the memories, agonising that you’re not rich enough, good enough or clever enough, surrounding yourself with people who remember the bad times and not the good, making energy-sucking comparisons, viewing life like a movie instead of participating, believing that your best days are over, waiting at all times for the right moment, fearing you will look foolish, focusing on negative type-casting…and anything else you don’t want to pass on to your children. How can you get rid of the clutter? ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’
    *TRUSTING GOD'S WISDOM THROUGH JUDGMENT AND GRACE*
    *TEXT:* ISAIAH 28:18–29
    18. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
    19. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
    20. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
    21. For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
    22. Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
    23. Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.
    24. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?
    25. When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and rie in their place?
    26. For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.
    27. For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
    28. Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
    29. This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
    *Timeless Truth:*
    _Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._
    ( Proverbs 3:5–6)
    *INTRODUCTION*
    During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (1933–1937), many workers initially feared working hundreds of feet above the water. After several fatal accidents, engineers installed a massive safety net beneath the bridge. Although the net cost a significant amount of money, it saved many lives and gave workers greater confidence to continue their work. What seemed restrictive actually became a means of preservation.
    Similarly, God's discipline and correction may appear unpleasant or restrictive, but they are expressions of His wisdom and love. Isaiah 28 addresses Judah's misplaced confidence in political alliances rather than in God. Through the prophet, the Lord warned that every false refuge would fail, yet He also revealed that His judgments are purposeful, measured and redemptive.
    The illustration of the farmer (vv. 23–29) teaches that just as a skilled farmer knows the proper method and timing for cultivating each crop, God perfectly knows how to deal with His people.
    *For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6)
    God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness. Our heavenly Father knows every detail of our lives. He knows when to comfort, when to correct, when to wait and when to act. What may seem confusing or painful to us is never without purpose in His hands.
    Sometimes God allows difficult seasons to break the hard soil of pride. At other times He plants seeds of truth, waters them with His grace and patiently waits for spiritual fruit. Even His discipline is measured by perfect wisdom and infinite love. Therefore, let us not resist His work, but submit to it. Let us abandon every false refuge and place our complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ—the sure foundation that will never fail.
    As we trust Him, we will discover that His wisdom is flawless, His discipline is loving and His purposes are always for our good and His glory.
    *1. The Collapse of False Confidence*
    a. Judah trusted in deceptive alliances instead of depending on God.
    Their "covenant with death" would be annulled because no human refuge can replace God's protection.
    The Bible says: *Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.*(Psalm 20:7)
    Isaiah describes a bed too short and a covering too narrow, illustrating the insufficiency of human solutions.
    b. God's judgment is described as His "unusual work," showing that while He is just, He takes no delight in punishing His people. When we build our lives on wealth, influence, intellect or human security instead of Christ, disappointment is inevitable.
    *Questions*
    (i) What am I trusting most for my security—God or human resources?
    (ii) Have I built my life upon Christ, the only sure foundation?
    *2. The Counsel of Perfect Wisdom*
    a. Isaiah invites the people to observe the wisdom of a farmer who works with understanding.
    The farmer knows when to plow, sow and cultivate because God teaches him. The farmer does not plow endlessly; each season has its purpose. *“To everything there is a season.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
    b. Every action is intended to produce a fruitful harvest.
    *“No chastening seems to be joyful... nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”* (Hebrews 12:11). God knows exactly what we need and when we need it. His timing and methods are always perfect.
    *Questions*
    (i) Am I patiently submitting to God's process even when I do not fully understand it?
    (ii) Do I seek God's wisdom before making important decisions?
    *3. The Compassion of God's Discipline*
    a. Our text concludes with the illustration that different crops require different methods of threshing, demonstrating God's wisdom and moderation. The farmer adjusts his methods according to the crop. Likewise, God disciplines each believer wisely and appropriately. God never disciplines beyond what is necessary to accomplish His purpose.
    b. Isaiah concludes by praising God's wonderful counsel and excellent wisdom. Even when God's dealings are difficult to understand, we can trust that they are always governed by love, wisdom and grace.
    *Questions*
    (i) Do I view God's discipline as punishment or as a loving correction designed for my growth?
    (ii) Am I willing to let God shape my character through His refining work?
    *Prayer Points*
    1. Lord, help me to place my confidence entirely in You and not in human strength or worldly security.
    2. Father, grant me wisdom to understand Your ways and to make decisions that honour You.
    3. Lord, give me a teachable heart that receives Your correction with humility and obedience.
    4. Heavenly Father, cultivate my life so that I may bear lasting fruit for Your glory.
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it" (ISAIAH 28:18).*_

    *Prophet Isaiah was a balanced prophet. He was not the type of prophet with a sugarcoated tongue who only prophesied peace without condemning the iniquities of the people. This prophet was so bold as to let the Jewish people know that whatever they trusted for justification or protection, or for happiness or healing and deliverance, except for the righteousness of God and the influence and power of the Holy Ghost, would ultimately prove abortive and vain.*

    *According to the text, the Jews believed in their works of righteousness, which God told them would not suffice. The text describes the bed as too short, and the covering too narrow. This tells us that trusting and resting on our own will and self-management will result in regret and gross disappointment. Religion is not enough; true righteousness from Christ must be carefully sought and wisely husbanded.*

    *Prophet Isaiah compares God's work among the nations to those of a farmer on his soil. The husbandman (farmer) does his work with pains and prudence and handles the plants according to their nature. The Almighty God who gives men this great wisdom is wonderful in counsel and excellent in His working.*

    *Afflictions are God's threshing instruments to loosen us from the world, to part between us and our chaff, and to prepare us for use. As the occasion requires, the Lord warns, corrects, spares, shows mercy or executes vengeance. How we need to heed God's warning today and not to trust in anything outside Christ. It takes trust and diligence to please God. It takes confidence and faith in His promises to appropriate His blessings, with a firm and unflagging resolve to abide in His will.*

*For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6) God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness. *1. The Collapse of False Confidence* a. Judah trusted in deceptive alliances instead of depending on God. Their "covenant with death" would be annulled because no human refuge can replace God's protection. The Bible says: *Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.*(Psalm 20:7) Isaiah describes a bed too short and a covering too narrow, illustrating the insufficiency of human solutions. b. God's judgment is described as His "unusual work," showing that while He is just, He takes no delight in punishing His people. When we build our lives on wealth, influence, intellect or human security instead of Christ, disappointment is inevitable. *Questions* (i) What am I trusting most for my security—God or human resources? (ii) Have I built my life upon Christ, the only sure foundation? *2. The Counsel of Perfect Wisdom* a. Isaiah invites the people to observe the wisdom of a farmer who works with understanding. The farmer knows when to plow, sow and cultivate because God teaches him. The farmer does not plow endlessly; each season has its purpose. *“To everything there is a season.”* (Ecclesiastes 3:1) b. *Questions* (i) Am I patiently submitting to God's process even when I do not fully understand it? (ii) Do I seek God's wisdom before making important decisions? *3. The Compassion of God's Discipline* a. *Questions* (i) Do I view God's discipline as punishment or as a loving correction designed for my growth? (ii) Am I willing to let God shape my character through His refining work? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord, help me to place my confidence entirely in You and not in human strength or worldly security.🙏 2. Father, grant me wisdom to understand Your ways and to make decisions that honour You.🙏 3. Lord, give me a teachable heart that receives Your correction with humility and obedience.🙏 4. MD.i. 😀🎀💝🎁🌺🌹MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2O26. "GET RID OF THE ‘CLUTTER ’" ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Ephesians 4:23 NLT WHEN YOU sell a house, it feels great to get rid of stuff you’ve accumulated. ‘…let the Spirit renew your…attitudes.’ Bible In A Year: Judg. 1-3; Matt 15: 29-39; Ps 119:49-56; Pr 17:18-21. *Timeless Truth:* _Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._ ( Proverbs 3:5–6) *INTRODUCTION* During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (1933–1937), many workers initially feared working hundreds of feet above the water. *For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.* (Hebrews 12:6) God's discipline is never arbitrary; it is guided by infinite wisdom and aimed at producing righteousness.
