THE STORY BEHIND "I'II PRAISE MY MAKER WHILE I'VE BREATH “I’ll Praise My Maker While I’ve Breath” is a beloved hymn by the English hymn writer and theologian Isaac Watts (1674–1748). The hymn is based on Psalm 146, transforming the biblical psalm into a personal declaration of lifelong trust, praise and devotion to God. Watts published the hymn in his influential collection “The Psalms of David, Imitated in the Language of the New Testament” in 1719. Rather than translating the Psalm word-for-word, he expressed its message in a form that worshippers could sing as their own testimony of faith. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.33-“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.” Devotional message Yesterday, we saw the importance of embracing the uniqueness God has placed in each of us. Today, we discover that when we embrace our uniqueness and honour the contribution of others, we create room for divine order in the house of God. The Apostle Paul gives us a beautiful picture of how the body of Christ should function. One may lead in praise and worship, while others support with sincerity and purity of heart. Another may teach while others listen, learn, and take notes. Another may bring a prophetic revelation, while others listen carefully and examine it according to the Word of God. Others may serve through playing instruments, administration, hospitality, prayer, or other gifts. None of these functions should compete with another because every gift has a place in God's purpose. Competition creates confusion because people begin trying to occupy positions God never assigned to them. However, when we recognize that our different gifts complement one another, we begin to experience the beauty of God's design. The worshipper should not compete with the preacher. The preacher should not compete with the instrumentalist. The prophet should not compete with the teacher. The person serving behind the scenes should not feel inferior to the person standing before the congregation. Every genuine contribution matters when it is offered to God. Paul says, “But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.” This means our gifts are not primarily given for personal recognition; they are given for the edification of the body of Christ. When we honour one another's uniqueness, peace replaces competition, order replaces confusion, and cooperation replaces division. This creates an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can work freely and the Church can fulfil her assignment effectively. God is not the author of confusion but of peace. Therefore, wherever there is constant competition, jealousy, disorder, and the desire to outshine others, we must examine our hearts and return to God's pattern. Child of God, you do not have to become another person to become valuable. Be faithful with what God has entrusted to you. Honour the grace upon others while developing the grace upon your own life. The body of Christ becomes stronger when every member functions according to the grace God has given them. Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the unique grace, gifts, talents, and abilities You have placed within each of us.Teach us to honour the gifts of others and faithfully steward what You have entrusted to us. TOPIC: WHEN YOUR SACRIFICE SPEAKS, GOD FIGHTS YOUR BATTLES BIBLICAL TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 20:21-22 KJV “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” There are battles that human strength cannot win. There are situations where your intelligence, connections, money, and influence may fail. But when you place your sacrifice, praise, worship, and trust before God, He can step into the battle and fight on your behalf. Jehoshaphat faced a powerful enemy, but instead of depending on military strength alone, Judah went before the Lord with worship and praise. Their praise became a spiritual weapon, and God Himself fought the battle. 1. THE POWER OF PRAISE AND SACRIFICE BEFORE THE BATTLE Praise is not only something we offer after victory. Praise can also be a sacrifice offered before victory appears. “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:15 KJV) Judah praised God before they saw the enemy defeated. Their worship was an expression of faith. They were declaring that God was greater than the battle before them. There are times when you must praise God while the battle is still raging, worship Him while the answer is still pending, and continue trusting Him when you cannot see the way forward. Your sacrifice of praise says, “Lord, I may not understand what I am facing, but I know You are faithful.” 2. HOW WORSHIP CAN BECOME A WEAPON AGAINST THE ENEMY When Judah began to sing and praise, God moved against their enemies. “And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir.” (2 Chronicles 20:22 KJV) Their worship did not merely change their atmosphere. God used their praise as the trigger for divine intervention. Paul and Silas also experienced the power of worship in a difficult situation. “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” (Acts 16:25 KJV) Their worship was followed by a supernatural earthquake that opened the prison doors. Sometimes, when you cannot fight with your hands, fight with your praise. When you cannot explain yourself to everyone, worship God. When enemies are gathering, lift your voice to the One who is greater than your enemies. A worshipper who knows how to praise God in the storm is difficult for the enemy to defeat. 3. WHEN GOD STEPS INTO A BATTLE, VICTORY IS CERTAIN Jehoshaphat received a powerful word from the Lord: “The battle is not yours, but God's.” (2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV) When God takes over your battle, you do not have to struggle in your own strength. He knows how to fight battles you cannot fight and win wars you cannot win. “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14 KJV) This does not mean that believers should never take wise action. It means that we must recognize that our ultimate victory comes from God. When God steps into your marriage, He can restore what is broken. When God steps into your business, He can open doors no man can shut. When God steps into your ministry, He can silence opposition. When God steps into your family, He can break longstanding cycles. When God steps into your battle, the enemy cannot prevail. REAL LIFE LESSON There are moments when people have done everything they know to do and still found themselves surrounded by impossible circumstances. Some have prayed, fasted, sought counsel, and remained faithful, yet the battle seemed to continue. One of the greatest lessons from such seasons is learning to trust God even before the answer comes. Many believers have testified that when they stopped allowing fear to control them and began to worship God in the midst of their trials, they received unusual peace, divine direction, unexpected favour, and breakthroughs they could not have produced by their own strength. Your praise may not change God, because God is already faithful. But your praise can change your position from fear to faith and help you recognize the God who is fighting for you. PRAYER POINTS 1. O Lord, let my sacrifice of praise speak for me in every battle of my life, in the name of Jesus Christ. 2. Father, arise and fight every battle that is too great for me to handle, in Jesus' name. (2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV) 3. Every power gathered against my life, let the Lord set confusion in your midst, in the name of Jesus Christ. (2 Chronicles 20:22 KJV) 4. O God, turn every battle against me into a testimony of Your faithfulness, in Jesus' name. 5. As I praise and worship You, let every prison door holding my destiny be opened, in the name of Jesus Christ. (Acts 16:25-26 KJV) 6. Father, let every enemy of my peace, progress, family, and destiny be defeated by Your mighty hand, in Jesus' name. 7. O Lord, step into every impossible situation in my life and give me complete victory, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. 8. I declare that every battle I cannot fight, the Lord shall fight for me, in the name of Jesus Christ. (Exodus 14:14 KJV) 9. Father, let my testimony become a weapon that will glorify Your name and silence the voice of the enemy, in Jesus' name. 10. O Lord, as I continue to praise You, let my victory manifest and let every enemy of my destiny bow, in the name of Jesus Christ. PROPHETIC DECLARATION I declare over your life: The God who fought for Jehoshaphat shall fight for you. Every battle that has overwhelmed you shall become a testimony. As you lift your voice in genuine praise and worship, may the Lord arise against every enemy of your destiny. May He turn your battles into victories, your tears into testimonies, and your struggles into songs of praise. You will not fight alone. The Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. Your sacrifice shall speak, your worship shall rise before God, and your victory shall be undeniable, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Matthew 15:21-31 Was Jesus being mean? When one first sees this passage, one seems to conclude that in this passage Jesus is being mean. He's going through a very spiritually dark area. Tyre and Sidon was an area where human sacrifice was part of their religion which was entirely pagan worship. So when this woman comes demanding help for her demon possessed daughter, Jesus doesn't immediately respond in a positive way. It seems a little rude. The disciples knew this woman was more than likely a worshipper of Baphomet. And they were imploring Jesus to send her away, which He did not do. He doesn't even address their concern, He tells the woman that He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. She understands His reluctance to help, knows Jesus is a holy man who won't excuse her people's sin. But she cries out again and Jesus says something unique. It is not good to take the children's bread to give to dogs. I didn't understand that for quite some time. So I've spent time on it. The gift the woman asked for, of a healing for her daughter, was one meant only for Israel. Now we've just spent the better part of 4 months learning about the Gospel message being for the world, not just Israel. So why did Jesus act aloof? Again, we have to return to the point that this woman was from a race of people for whom demonic service is second nature. And someone under the spell of Baphomet will not surrender to God. Was she a former pagan? Regretful of serving Baphomet? Possibly. What is known is that she had faith Jesus could do this and she was willing to take whatever blessing God would give. So when her reply came back, Jesus praised her faith. This plea to save her daughter came and because of her nationality she would be considered a traitor to demons this plea for her daughter could easily earn this woman a swift sacrificial death. She would gladly accept the role of dog eating scraps if it meant her daughter being healed. Her daughter was healed and she went on her way. The chapter concludes with multitudes being healed in the open view of Jews and the people of Tyre and Sidon. I often think of these unnamed heroes of scripture and what it will be like to finally meet some of them. What happened after this? We will all find out. No Jesus was not mean, not bigoted, He was giving her an opportunity to demonstrate the reality of her faith. And she did. [21] Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon. [22] And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely demon-possessed.” [23] But He did not answer her with even a word. And His disciples came up and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us!” [24] But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” [25] But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” [26] Yet He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” [27] And she said, “Yes, Lord; but please help, for even the dogs feed on the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” [28] Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed at once. [29] Departing from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee, and after going up on the mountain, He was sitting there. [30] And large crowds came to Him bringing with them those who were limping, had impaired limbs, were blind, or were unable to speak, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and He healed them. [31] So the crowd was astonished as they saw those who were unable to speak talking, those with impaired limbs restored, those who were limping walking around, and those who were blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

*🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 200* *DATE: 19TH JULY 2026* DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION *TOPIC: THE MESSAGE OF THE LORD* *ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: JONAH 3:4 (NKJV)* *And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, 'Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!'"* *Devotional message:* When God sent Jonah to Nineveh, the prophet initially resisted the assignment and attempted to flee from the presence of the Lord. Yet God's purpose could not be frustrated. After the Lord redirected him, Jonah faithfully proclaimed the message God had entrusted to him. The result was extraordinary. From the greatest to the least, the people of Nineveh believed God, humbled themselves with fasting, put on sackcloth, confessed their sins, and turned from their wicked ways. Even the king proclaimed a nationwide fast that extended to the animals. Seeing their genuine repentance, God showed them mercy and withheld the judgment He had intended to bring upon the city. This reveals the heart of God. His desire is not merely to pronounce judgment but to bring people to repentance and reconciliation with Himself. Throughout Scripture, God's message has always been a call for men and women to turn from sin and return to Him. The same pattern is seen in the ministry of John the Baptist. Emerging from the wilderness, his message was, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Many responded by confessing their sins and being baptized in preparation for the coming Messiah. Likewise, when Jesus began His public ministry, His central message was the proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the call to repentance. The message of heaven transformed hearts because it carried the authority and purpose of God. After Christ's resurrection, He entrusted this same mission to His apostles. As they faithfully proclaimed the Gospel, God confirmed His Word with signs and wonders, and entire cities were transformed. Their effectiveness did not come from persuasive speech or popular ideas but from faithfully delivering the message the Lord had placed in their hearts. This teaches us an important principle: every believer has been entrusted with a divine assignment and a message that God desires to communicate through his or her life. The power to transform lives does not lie in preaching what is popular, entertaining, or intellectually impressive, but in faithfully proclaiming what God has spoken. Therefore, every preacher, teacher, worshipper, evangelist, and intercessor must cultivate intimacy with God. It is in His presence that we receive His heart and His message. Worship leaders must release the sound that heaven births within them rather than simply following what is trending. Intercessors must labor over the burdens that weigh upon God's heart rather than merely presenting personal desires. Ministers of the Word must proclaim God's truth rather than seeking the approval of people. Child of God, spend quality time in God's presence. Let His Word shape your heart and His Spirit reveal His will. When you carry the message of the Lord instead of your own message, He will confirm it with His power, and lives will be transformed for His glory. Lasting transformation comes when we faithfully proclaim the message God has entrusted to us rather than our own ideas or popular opinions. *Prayer:* Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me with the privilege of representing You. Draw me into deeper intimacy with You so that I may know Your heart and faithfully proclaim Your message. Deliver me from the desire to please people, and help me to speak only what You have placed within my spirit. Solomon was wise, but lust buried his wisdom in strange women’s laps. Samson was anointed, yet he died blind and bound, because he couldn’t say no to Delilah. Don’t think your gifts exempt you. They make you a bigger target. You are not too strong to fall, but you are strong enough to flee. The Bible didn’t say “negotiate with lust.” It says, FLEE youthful lusts (2 Timothy 2:22). Discipline Your Body Fast often. Let your flesh know it’s not in charge. Stay away from situations that ignite PASSION, close rooms, late-night calls, secret chats. 5.
