Conflict and Courage. Isaiah 6:1-10 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15. In the vision that came to Isaiah in the temple court, he was given a clear view of the character of the God of Israel. “The high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy,” had appeared before him in great majesty; yet the prophet was made to understand the compassionate nature of his Lord.... In beholding his God, the prophet ... had not only been given a view of his own unworthiness; there had come to his humbled heart the assurance of forgiveness, full and free; and he had arisen a changed man. He had seen his Lord. He had caught a glimpse of the loveliness of the divine character. He could testify of the transformation wrought through beholding Infinite Love. Henceforth he was inspired with longing desire to see erring Israel set free from the burden and penalty of sin. “Why should ye be stricken any more?” the prophet inquired. “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” ... The God whom they had been claiming to serve, but whose character they had misunderstood, was set before them as the great Healer of spiritual disease.... The heart of Infinite Love yearns after those who feel powerless to free themselves from the snares of Satan; and He graciously offers to strengthen them to live for Him. “Fear thou not,” He bids them; “for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.” ... Have you, reader, chosen your own way? Have you wandered far from God? Have you sought to feast upon the fruits of transgression, only to find them turn to ashes upon your lips? ... Return to your Father's house. He invites you, saying, “Return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.” “Come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live.” 25Prophets and Kings, 314-320.

𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 ✍️ “𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦— 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦.” Someone says, “𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺.” Society urges us to climb higher, gain more followers, and build our fame. But as Christians, true greatness is measured by service. Whether tempted to rise or called to kneel, the real question isn’t about power—it’s whether we will faithfully carry our great responsibility. Jesus declared in 🕮 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝟏𝟎:𝟒𝟓, “𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺.” The disciples had been arguing over who would be the greatest, but Christ redefined greatness. The King of kings did not come demanding a throne—He came carrying a towel, serving others, and ultimately giving His life as the ransom for sinners. A fruitful tree does not exist for itself. Its branches bend under the weight of fruit so that others may be nourished. In the same way, spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we receive but by how willingly we serve. The closer we walk with Christ, the more our lives become a blessing to those around us. Scripture calls us to Christlike service. We are to “𝘣𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳” (𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟓:𝟏𝟑), and to be “𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯” (𝐄𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟓:𝟏). “𝘞𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳” (𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝟏𝟎:𝟒𝟑). Ministry is not about being noticed—it is about making Christ known. The servant's heart is revealed long before the spotlight arrives. “𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘰𝘳 𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺” (𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟑). Don't seek to elevate your platform, chase lost people for God to transform. We are not called to impress people with our importance but to bless them with Christ's humility. Before Christ called us to serve, He first served us selflessly. He left the glory of heaven, humbled Himself, became obedient unto death—even the death of the cross (𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟓–𝟖). Through His sacrifice and victorious resurrection (𝟏 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟓:𝟑–𝟒), He paid the ransom our sins deserved. We do not serve to earn His love—we serve because His love has already transformed our hearts. Are you seeking recognition more than opportunities to serve? Whose burden will you bear? Whose souls will you lead to the Lord? You don't need Christ merely to give you a ministry—you need Him because He is the perfect Servant who teaches your imperfect hearts to serve. Don't chase a crown while refusing a towel. The path to true greatness still begins at the feet of Jesus. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, who came not to be served but to serve. Forgive us for seeking recognition instead of devotion. Give us the heart of Christ, willing hands to serve, and joyful obedience in every opportunity You place before us. May our lives reflect the Greatest Servant. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Everybody gets knocked down, but how fast you get up again is what counts. Verla Gillmor says: ‘Failure teaches us things we can’t learn any other way…Treat it as a visitor allowed to deliver unpleasant news, but don’t let it take up residence. Remember, all failures aren’t equal. For example, when a beautiful, talented young woman is the first-runner-up in a beauty contest, some say she failed. Yet some people would give their right arm to be named the second most attractive female in a competition. It’s a matter of perspective… [examine] your failures and weigh them according to their importance in the overall scheme of things…I once received a ‘D’ at college…it’s ridiculous, but that sticks in my mind like a pebble in my shoe. Why do I fixate on that and not the fact that it happened during the term I carried nineteen credit hours, worked part-time, got engaged, and spent six weeks in the college health centre with mononucleosis? When I put the experience in context, it loses its power to undermine my confidence. Failure teaches us what’s important. I have a friend who was made redundant…It caught her by surprise because she was good at her work. “I tended to be full of pride,” she says. “I got away with it because I was so successful. Losing my job…humbled me. With pride you have no permission to fail. It’s a heavy yoke…and I don’t wear it any more. [12/08, 8:10 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* THURSDAY, 13TH AUGUST, 2026. *A MORE DESCRIPTION OF HEAVEN* *TEXT:* REVELATION 21:1-8. 1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. *Timeless Truth:*_"For he (Abraham) looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God"_ (Hebrews 11:10). *INTRODUCTION* When Garden Eden was created, it was the most beautiful place Adam could ever conceive of, with all the beautiful birds, animals, plants and cool weather. However, nobody needed to tell Adam that there must be a better place because the God that used to commune with him in *"the cool of the day"* was not living in Eden. He must be dwelling in a better place. This faith was carried on from generations to generations until the time of Abraham, who in spite of all the wealth promised him, his affection was focused on the better city. *"For he (Abraham) looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God"*. Nobody was given a better revelation of heaven than Apostle John. Enoch and Elijah were said to be translated to heaven. How heaven looked like was left to human imaginations. Jesus Christ also mentioned heaven as the abode of the Triune God. He only told us it has many mansions. At the mount of transfiguration was revealed the glory of heaven and how the inhabitants will look like. Nothing more was revealed. Stephen saw heaven at the point of death but just faintly (Acts 7:55-56). Paul the apostle was taken to heaven which he called the third heaven, but he said he was not permitted to reveal what he saw to any except that he exposed that it has many foundations (Acts 11:10, 2 Corinthians 12:2-4). The text shows us the climax of God's revelation about heaven. Yet the Bible writers were short of words to describe heaven except that it is the place where God dwells from eternity, with all His created angels and saints. *"How beautiful heaven must be"*. *1. Prepared Heaven* a. Those who doubt the testimony of Apostle John must be ready to doubt his gospel and epistles that have transformed lives and brought supernatural comforts and revelation of Jesus Christ to mankind for centuries. *"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth"*. He was not told or heard from a third party. He saw it himself. It was not a remodelled new heaven and earth, but a totally new heaven and a new earth. *"And there was no more sea"*. There are three types of heaven mentioned in the Bible. There is the atmospheric heaven where the rain comes from (Deuteronomy 11:11). There is the second heaven called heavenlies where we have the galaxies including the primary domain of demonic forces and angelic conflicts (Ephesians 6:12). Then we have the third heaven or paradise where God dwells (2 Corinthians 12:2). *"For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away"*. The first two heavens were passed away except the third heaven. 2 Peter 3:12, 13 reveals how this will happen. *"….. wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. "*. The earth and the heavens will be destroyed through fervent heat. Jesus Himself confirmed that heaven and earth with all their structures, beauties, learnings and philosophies shall all pass away except the Word of God (Matthew 5:18, 24:35). In fact, all the human bodies will give way to eternal and indestructible bodies. Thus, what Apostle John saw was the giving away of all things that are visible and temporary for things that are eternal. b. *"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven"*. The earthly Jerusalem was referred to as the city of the Great King (Psalm 48:2, Matthew 5:35). This is referring to the Millennium holy Jerusalem from where Jesus will rule the whole world physically. John the apostle said that Jerusalem ceased to exist, but gave way to a completely New Jerusalem. This New Jerusalem was seen coming *"out of heaven"*. Obviously, it is seen coming from the third heaven which is the eternal throne of God. He used the imagery of the beauty of a bride coming to meet the husband to describe the beauty of heaven. This is the best description human language can give. *Prepared as a bride adorned for her husband"*. He then heard the voice of God announcing the plan of God right from eternity. What was that plan? That God will physically, live among men as King over loving subjects; as Father over His children in a happy family set up and as God over His redeemed and people. *"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God"*. This is the beginning of heaven, happy and holy eternity. *Question* Are you getting prepared for heaven in the practical sense of it? If Not, then you don't actually, believe in heaven. *2. Pacification with Happiness* a. The Apostle further gave a glimpse of how we will feel in heaven. *"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes"*. Tears of sorrow, anguish, lost loved ones, physical and psychological pains, etc.will all be forgotten. This is difficult to imagine for man. It is like imagining how God promised that *"your sins and iniquities will I remember no more"*. We don't have a problem with God forgiving our sins, but God forgetting our sins will be difficult to imagine. We will all forget the painful past as we will be overwhelmed with the glory of God for eternity. *"There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away"*. The pains and the tears, called *"light afflictions"* will be for a moment. They will not survive the joy of eternity. b. For those who have difficulty with believing, *"he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful"*. Heaven is prepared already. When Jesus Christ was about going to heaven, He assured the disciples of going to build mansions for them. About 60 years later, when John saw the revelation, he was told by the Lord that it was done. It means it is a settled and concluded matter. *"And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end"*. In heaven there will not be any heat or tension, but total refreshments and happiness. *"I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely"*. Everything God has will be totally ours. All the gifts of God, physical or spiritual, will belong to us as possessions. Nothing needed or useful will be denied. We suffer different lacks while on earth. Heaven will be the opposite. *"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son"*. Are you an overcomer over sin, Satan and all his temptations? *Question* What are the things you are suffering on earth? Do you see them as temporary? *3. Punishment of Hell* What are the things that will disqualify any from entering heaven? What would be the abode of those who will miss heaven? The answer is fearful. *"But the fearful, and unbelieving"*. Every evil action stems from fear and unbelief. Unbelief of what God has spoken and the consequences of disobedience, fear of man and what man can do are terrible paralysing feelings that draw men to perdition. *"And the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars"*. Notice that all those sins are now also found inside the Church among professing saints. So there will be eternal surprises when those who profess that heaven is their home find themselves in a totally different place called hell. They *"shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone*. *Question* Are you transparently free from all sins? *Prayer Points* 1.Give praises to God that you are in that number saved by grace 🙏. 2.Ask God to search your life, expose, purge and cleanse you from all disqualifying habits 🙏. 3.Pray that the vision of heaven will get brighter and brighter to you and your mind and affections will be focused on heavenly things 🙏. 4.Pray that all believers will be delivered from all forms of self deception and will take entering heaven more seriously 🙏. *HYMN:* How Beautiful Heaven Must Be. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 16-18. His last words, as testified by survivors, were "I have seen heaven, and it is beautiful" and "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved." Despite his death, Harper used his final moments to preach the gospel, expressing his deep assurance that beyond death lay a place of eternal peace. A rescued survivor testified that Harper, clinging to the wreckage, asked if he was saved and urged him to believe in Jesus Christ. The survivor later accepted Christ and called himself "the last convert of John Harper."* *Today's passage paints a breath-taking vision of the new heaven and new earth. John sees the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, descending from God, adorned like a bride. A powerful voice declares that God will dwell among His people, wiping away every tear. Death, mourning, crying, and pain will be gone forever. The former things will pass away, and everything will be made new. God, the Alpha and Omega, promises the water of life to those who thirst. But He also warns that those who reject Him (those living in sin, fear, unbelief) will face eternal separation in the lake of fire.* *In this world, we experience suffering in many forms such as loss, illness, disappointment, pain and injustice. But for those who belong to Christ, these trials are temporary. Christ assures us that a glorious future awaits us, one where God Himself will comfort us, and all suffering will cease. This hope should encourage believers to endure hardships with faith, knowing that one day, we will step into a place where joy is endless and pain is no more. It also calls us to live righteously, rejecting sin and embracing the promise of eternity with God.* *No matter what trials you face today, hold unto the hope of heaven. Let this promise strengthen your faith, drive you to share the gospel, and encourage you to live in readiness for Christ's return. A day is coming when all suffering will cease and there will be no more tears, pain or death. GOD'S MERCY TO NINEVEH JONAH 1:2 NKJ2 "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me." Remembering what happened with Nineveh will give you a clearer picture of God's mercy. God told Jonah that Nineveh would be destroyed. But when the people of Nineveh changed and repented before God, things changed .JONAH 3:3-10 NKJ 3 So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three-day journey in extent.4 And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!" 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.6 Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes.7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.9 Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? 10 Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. The people of Nineveh were very wicked, but when they heard God's Word of judgment they humbled themselves and turned toward God. Because of their response, God changed His judgment and their lives were spared. When people repent and turn toward God -- no matter how evil they have been -- God shows mercy. God is still the same. He delights in mercy. MICAH 7:18 NKJ18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? Need to know. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: GOD'S STANDARD OF JUDGMENT FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION. "And God spake all these words, saying..." (Exodus 20:1, KJV) Many people claim that God's law has been abolished. Yet from Genesis to Revelation, God judges sin according to the very principles found in the Ten Commandments. Before Sinai, people were already held accountable because God's moral law reflected His holy character (Romans 2:14–15). The Bible is clear: «"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." — Ecclesiastes 8:11 (KJV)» God's judgment may not always come immediately, but no sin goes unnoticed, and no sin will ultimately go unpunished unless it is repented of and forgiven through Christ (Acts 17:30–31; Romans 6:23). 1. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3) God has always judged idolatry. Israel worshiped the golden calf (Exodus 32:1–35). About 3,000 people died, and the Lord sent a plague upon the people. King Solomon turned to other gods (1 Kings 11:1–13). God declared that the kingdom would be torn from his son. Nebuchadnezzar exalted himself and set up a golden image for worship (Daniel 3). God humbled his kingdom, and later, because of his pride, he lived like a beast until he acknowledged the Most High (Daniel 4:28–37). Lesson: God alone deserves worship. 2. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image." (Exodus 20:4–6) God condemns image worship. The golden calf brought immediate judgment (Exodus 32). Jeroboam's golden calves led Israel into sin, bringing God's judgment upon his house (1 Kings 12:26–33; 1 Kings 13:33–34; 1 Kings 14:7–16). Lesson: Worship belongs to the Creator, not created things. 3. "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain." (Exodus 20:7) God holds His name sacred. A man blasphemed God's name and was put to death by God's command (Leviticus 24:10–16, 23). Hophni and Phinehas, the sons of Eli, treated God's worship with contempt and dishonored His name through their wickedness. God judged them, and both died on the same day (1 Samuel 2:12–17, 22–25, 34; 1 Samuel 4:11). Lesson: God's name must never be treated lightly. 4. "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy." (Exodus 20:8–11) God blesses obedience and judges deliberate rebellion. A man gathering sticks on the Sabbath was judged according to God's command and stoned (Numbers 15:32–36). God warned Israel that Sabbath-breaking would bring national judgment (Jeremiah 17:21–27). The Babylonian captivity came in part because Israel neglected God's Sabbaths (2 Chronicles 36:20–21). Lesson: The Sabbath is holy because God made it holy. 5. "Honour thy father and thy mother." (Exodus 20:12) God blesses honor and judges rebellion. Absalom rebelled against his father David and died tragically (2 Samuel 15–18). Children mocked Elisha, saying, "Go up, thou bald head." Two she-bears came out of the woods, and forty-two youths were mauled (2 Kings 2:23–24). Lesson: God expects respect for parents and those He has appointed. 6. "Thou shalt not kill." (Exodus 20:13) God judges murder. Cain murdered Abel, and God cursed him and drove him from the ground (Genesis 4:8–12). David arranged Uriah's death. Though forgiven, he suffered severe consequences in his household (2 Samuel 11–12). Lesson: Human life is sacred because it bears God's image. 7. "Thou shalt not commit adultery." (Exodus 20:14) God judges sexual immorality. David committed adultery with Bathsheba, and the child died. The sword never departed from David's house (2 Samuel 11–12). Judah and Tamar (Genesis 38). Judah acknowledged, "She hath been more righteous than I." His sin was exposed publicly. Scripture records the shame of his actions, though it does not say he was judged for "ten generations." Lesson: Sin may be forgiven, but it often carries painful consequences. 8. "Thou shalt not steal." (Exodus 20:15) God judges theft. Achan stole what God had devoted to destruction. Israel was defeated at Ai, and Achan and his household were judged (Joshua 7:1–26). Gehazi deceitfully took gifts from Naaman and was struck with leprosy (2 Kings 5:20–27). Lesson: Nothing can be hidden from God. 9. "Thou shalt not bear false witness." (Exodus 20:16) God judges lying. Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and died immediately (Acts 5:1–11). Jezebel arranged false witnesses against Naboth, bringing God's judgment upon her and Ahab's house (1 Kings 21). Lesson: God is a God of truth. 10. "Thou shalt not covet." (Exodus 20:17) Coveting leads to destruction. Ahab coveted Naboth's vineyard, resulting in murder and God's judgment (1 Kings 21). Judas Iscariot's love of money led him to betray Christ and perish (Matthew 26:14–16; Acts 1:18–20). Lesson: Coveting begins in the heart but produces deadly fruit. The Ten Commandments in the Final Judgment The Bible ends where it began: God's law remains His standard of righteousness. Romans 2:12–16 — God will judge the secrets of men. James 2:10–12 — We shall be judged by the "law of liberty." Ecclesiastes 12:13–14 — "Fear God, and keep his commandments... For God shall bring every work into judgment." Revelation 20:12–13 — The dead are judged according to their works. Revelation 22:14 (KJV) — "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life..." Conclusion From Genesis to Revelation, God has never treated sin lightly. Every violation of His holy law brings guilt, and every act is recorded in heaven. Some judgments come immediately, while others are reserved for the final judgment. Yet God's mercy is available to all who repent and believe in Jesus Christ. The cross did not abolish God's law—it revealed how holy it is. Christ died because the penalty of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Through Him we receive forgiveness, and through His grace He writes His law in our hearts (Hebrews 8:10). "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." — Ecclesiastes 8:11 Do not mistake God's patience for approval. His mercy invites repentance, but His judgment is certain. Therefore, let us fear God, trust in Christ, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13–14). Good mo God Blessed Are the Gentle — Matthew 5:5 The Sermon on the Mount is one of the greatest teachings of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. In it, Jesus reveals the principles and values of the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew’s Gospel especially emphasizes the Kingdom of Heaven and shows how Jesus fulfills the prophetic promises concerning the coming Messiah. Jesus came at God’s appointed time in history, according to His perfect plan and purpose. As we meditate on the Beatitudes, we have already considered, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” “Blessed are those who mourn,” and “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” Now we come to another beautiful kingdom principle: “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.” — Matthew 5:5 In other words, those who are humble, gentle, and surrendered to God are truly blessed. Humility begins when we recognize who God is and acknowledge our complete dependence upon His grace. A humble heart clings to God, submits to His will, and surrenders everything to Christ. Jesus Himself is our greatest example. Though He existed in the form of God, He humbled Himself, taking the form of a servant and becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross. Therefore, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name above every name (Philippians 2:6–9). The Apostle Peter also teaches, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time” (1 Peter 5:6). Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, humbled Himself for us, bore our sins, and gave His life for our salvation. Therefore, let us follow His example. Let us walk in humility, love God, love people, and allow Jesus Christ to be glorified through our lives.

Matthew 17:24-27 Now that the transfiguration is over and Peter is sufficiently humbled by speaking where silence would do nicely Jesus and his apostles reach Capernaum. And of course, the Jewish leaders there are looking for any reason to trap Jesus they could find so they lean on the temple tax. Understand this, through God's law and precepts the temple was cared for. The priests had an income, the instruments were created hundreds of years earlier. This was an annual tax, it was called an offering, but it is spelled out in Exodus 30. Exodus 30:12-16 [12] “When you take a census of the sons of Israel to count them, then each one of them shall give a ransom for himself to the Lord, when you count them, so that there will be no plague among them when you count them. [13] This is what everyone who is counted shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as a contribution to the Lord. [14] Everyone who is counted, from twenty years old and over, shall give the contribution to the Lord. [15] The rich shall not pay more, and the poor shall not pay less, than the half shekel, when you give the contribution to the Lord to make atonement for yourselves. [16] And you shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting, so that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves.” The leaders continually fail in challenging Jesus’ teaching so they are left with nitpicking on matters of the law. And Moses was given detailed instructions on matters of law. Here it is 2 drachma, in Exodus it was half a shekel, in truth, it was an offering equivalent of two days of wages once annually for every male over the age of 20. It is an offering and is also called a ‘ransom’ for the people. So before anyone tells you that God does not care about what we give Him regularly think back on this. God specified a set amount (2 days wages annually) in addition to tithes and offerings in Leviticus. (10% of revenue of everything else.) If you believe that God cared this much in the Old Testament about how much and how often His people gave money and all of a sudden in the New Testament He's changed His mind, there may be a flaw in your thinking. Despite the excuses we make, God expects regular giving from Christians. A tithe of 10% is bare minimum, and does not cover our offerings over and above that. But offerings are still expected. And this ‘tax’ was actually an offering that was taken from what was earned. Jesus illustrates this by telling Peter to go fish. You see, by now, Jesus and the apostles were sustaining themselves solely with the offerings the early believers gave. And since Jesus told Peter to pay for himself and Jesus with what he pulls from the water. The reason that Jesus didn't tell Peter that he should wait until he has enough to pay for all 13 men, is likely because the apostles, with the exception of Peter, could have all been under the age of 20. Note the Jewish leaders were not questioning the apostles giving the temple tax, just Jesus. So they ask Peter, so does your rabbi pay the temple tax? Peter's immediate answer is, “YES HE DOES!” Then Peter comes to Jesus kinda like the confident 5 year old checking on the accuracy of statements he’s already made. And Peter doesn't even get the question out because as soon as Peter enters, Jesus knows what he was going to ask. And Jesus gives Peter the lesson going back to Jesus’ identity as divine. Jesus clearly asserts that he is not obligated to pay because he's the Son, not a stranger. However, He doesn't want to offend someone with such a trivial matter. So He arranges to pay. It's at this point that my ADD/ADHD brain starts annoying me. And I have to ask myself a question, the answer to which doesn't make a bit of difference to the story at all. And that question is this, did Jesus know somehow that there was currently a fish swimming around with the exact amount required to pay for Him and Peter? Or did He cause the coin to miraculously appear in the fish the moment Peter caught it? Is God intimately aware of all things all animals have swallowed ever at any time or is this a specific miracle to this fish and this fisherman? How it got there doesn't matter. But I'd still like to know. Wouldn't you? [24] Now when they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?” [25] He *said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?” [26] When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt. [27] However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a stater. Take that and give it to them for you and Me.”

Job 42:6 “Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”  Today’s verse takes us into the book of Job where we see him having a complete turn around, change of heart after having encountered God on a personal level. Up to this point, Job had only spoken of God from secondhand knowledge, while his friends sat judging him and saying his losses and suffering were due to his pride and sin. He had lost everything - his children, his wealth, his health, all but his wife who also criticized him and told him to just die already. Yet, through it all he pleaded his innocence. What prompted this total change in demeanor from Job that caused him to say he despised himself and repented in dust and ashes?  He had experienced an intense and personal encounter with God. God spoke to him directly out of a whirlwind (Job 38-41), posing questions to Job that truly transformed his life. He demonstrated His absolute power and the limits of human wisdom with His response. And Job surrendered his demands for answers and humbled himself completely before God. He realized that his beliefs and judgements about God and His justice were inconsequential and insignificant. He said, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” And it shook him to his core. Sometimes we find ourselves in the same mindset as Job, questioning the justice in what we are experiencing. We become critical and judgemental instead of accepting God’s hand at work in our lives. We respond with our limited, worldly views. And it is not the right response to have. We should trust Him instead of complaining, trusting that He has our best interest in mind and a plan for our lives. Yet, we sit and whine and complain about how unfair the circumstances are.  Do we really need a Job-like experience to change our hearts? Do we need to experience God in a personal encounter and hear Him speak to us from the storm?  Or can we trust that He is in control and at work in our lives? Learn from Job. He sat in ashes and dust, in physical grief and despair. He met God in a personal, extraordinary way and he was changed as a result. He retracted all of his defiant arguments. He realized he was nothing before such an amazing, all powerful Creator. THE TRUE BREAD OF HEAVEN TEACHING SERIES THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Part 10) ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: 1 John 2:6 (NKJV) “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” Additional Scripture Reading: Zechariah 4:6; John 5:19; John 13:15; Matthew 5:43–48; Matthew 9:35–36; Galatians 5:22–23; Ephesians 5:1–2 We continue with our series on the Ministry of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our perfect pattern and example of how a child of God ought to live on the earth. He was forgiving, compassionate, kindhearted, humble, wise, loving, and full of mercy. Therefore, as His ambassadors, we are called to reflect His nature and walk as He walked. Jesus forgave those who offended Him, and He taught us to forgive others so that we may also receive forgiveness. He was moved with compassion when He saw people in need and was touched by their infirmities. His compassion moved Him to heal the sick, provide for the needy, comfort the brokenhearted, and meet the needs of those who came to Him. He demonstrated the power of God by raising the dead, healing the sick, opening the eyes of the blind, causing the deaf to hear and the mute to speak. Yet, His ministry was not only characterized by supernatural manifestations. His life was also marked by love, humility, wisdom, purity, mercy, and obedience to the Father. Jesus commanded us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbours as ourselves. He even went further by commanding us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. This is the nature of the Kingdom of God. He also walked in profound humility. Although He was God, He humbled Himself and took the form of a servant. Likewise, we are warned not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think. When the woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus, He corrected her with both truth and gentleness. This teaches us that those who are spiritual must also restore and correct others with gentleness. However, none of these things can be consistently accomplished through human strength. Jesus Himself testified that He did nothing independently of the Father but only what He saw the Father doing and said what He heard the Father saying. His life was lived in complete dependence upon the Father. In the same way, we need the Holy Spirit to help us live like Jesus. The character of Christ, the love of Christ, the compassion of Christ, the humility of Christ, the wisdom of Christ, and the power of Christ cannot be produced by human ability alone. This is why the Lord declared to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” — Zechariah 4:6 Child of God, if we desire to walk as Jesus walked, we must yield ourselves completely to the Holy Spirit. He is the One who produces Christ's character in us and empowers us to live the life that God has called us to live. Our calling is not merely to preach Jesus but to reveal Jesus through our lives. A Person After God's Own Heart: Integrity When No One Is Watching! Key Scripture... "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart."- Psalm 15:1–2 Thought Of The Day... In a world that often celebrates appearances over authenticity, God is not searching for people who merely look righteous in public—He is seeking men and women whose hearts remain faithful when no one else is watching. Integrity is not measured by the applause of people but by the approval of God. It is who you are in private that reveals who you truly are. David was called "a man after God's own heart" (Acts 13:22), not because he was perfect, but because he genuinely desired to please God. When David sinned, he repented. When he failed, he humbled himself. His greatest desire was never to protect his reputation but to restore his relationship with God. Psalm 15 begins with a profound question: "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?" In other words, "Who can live in close fellowship with You?" God's answer is not based on wealth, popularity, education, or religious activity. Instead, He points to character. 1. Walk Uprightly Walking uprightly means living consistently according to God's Word. It means your character remains the same whether you're standing in church, sitting in the office, or alone behind closed doors. Integrity means: • Keeping your promises even when they cost you. • Refusing dishonest gain. • Remaining faithful to your spouse. • Working honestly when your supervisor isn't watching. • Honoring God even when compromise would be easier. True integrity is doing the right thing because it honors God—not because someone might find out. Proverbs 10:9 (KJV) "He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known." God blesses the life that chooses righteousness over convenience. 2. Work Righteousness Integrity is not passive—it produces righteous actions. Our faith should be visible in the way we: • Treat people. • Speak to our families. • Conduct business. • Handle money. • Respond to temptation. • Serve others with humility. James reminds us that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). A heart devoted to God naturally produces a life that reflects Him. The world needs believers whose actions match their profession of faith. 3. Speak the Truth in the Heart Notice that Psalm 15 doesn't merely say to speak truth with your mouth—it says to speak truth "in thy heart." God is concerned with what happens inside before words ever leave our lips. A truthful heart is: • Free from deception. • Honest before God. • Willing to confess sin. • Humble enough to admit mistakes. • Sincere in worship. • Genuine in love. People may fool others with outward appearances, but no one deceives God. 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV) "...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." Integrity Is Proven in Private Joseph demonstrated integrity when tempted by Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39). No one else was in the room. He could have sinned without immediate consequences, but Joseph understood something greater: "How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" (Genesis 39:9) His concern wasn't getting caught. His concern was grieving God. Likewise, Daniel remained faithful in Babylon even when obedience placed his life in danger. His private prayer life sustained his public testimony. God is still looking for people whose private lives match their public witness. The Reward of Integrity Integrity may not always bring immediate recognition, but it always earns God's favor. Those who walk uprightly experience: • A clear conscience. • Peace that the world cannot give. • Confidence before God. • A trustworthy reputation. • Spiritual authority. • Lasting influence on future generations. Most importantly, they enjoy close fellowship with the Lord. Psalm 84:11 declares: "For the Lord God is a sun and shield... no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." God honors those who honor Him. Something to Think About... Ask yourself: • Am I the same person in private that people see in public? • Would God be pleased with my thoughts when no one else knows them? • Is my integrity dependent on who is watching? • Do my words, actions, and motives reflect Christ? • Am I pursuing God's approval more than man's applause? Remember, character is built one obedient decision at a time. Every unseen act of faithfulness is noticed by the God who sees all things. Prayer... Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding me that You are more concerned with my heart than my outward appearance. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Help me to walk uprightly, practice righteousness, and speak truth from the depths of my heart. Lord, make me a person of integrity—even when no one is watching. Guard me from compromise, hypocrisy, and hidden sin. Give me the courage to choose obedience over convenience, holiness over popularity, and faithfulness over personal gain. May my private life bring You as much glory as my public testimony. Let my words, thoughts, motives, and actions reflect the character of Jesus Christ. Help me to be trustworthy in every area of my life, knowing that You see every decision and reward every act of faithful obedience. Like David, give me a heart that longs after You. Like Joseph, help me flee temptation. Like Daniel, strengthen me to stand firm regardless of the cost. May my life be a living testimony that honors Your holy name. I surrender every hidden place of my heart to You. Search me, cleanse me, and shape me into the person You have called me to be.
