Prayer Works:

12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:

“Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies.

Joshua 10:12-13

17 Elijah was just as human as we are, and for three and a half years his prayers kept the rain from falling. 18 But when he did pray for rain, it fell from the skies and made the crops grow.

James 5:17-18 (1 Kings 17:1, 1 Kings 18:42-45)

I was 7 years old when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was playing the drums one night at or church service, I wasn’t too good on the drums but I didn’t mind I still enjoyed it.

Church was outside because it was a time of meeting with another church our church in Frisco on 1st St. at a park.

I was playing the drums and I was listening to this other pastor preach on about how you should ask Jesus in your heart and how we needed to repent. He said just pray so out of nowhere I just stated praying while playing the drums and when I accepted Christ I felt something lifted off of me, I felt different unexplainable. I told my dad that night that the Lord touched me and in the morning he told my uncle that the Lord touched my heart and I told him that he did. I did not only pray but I confessed that the Lord saved me, but little did I know that I was saved but I knew I was saved because of what the pastor said about repentance, so I did just that.

1st When I was 6 years old my cousin stayed with us overnight. We had a Nintendo and I would play it. Then the following morning I couldn’t find the game. I was looking all over for it left and right and still couldn’t find it cause my cousin hid it from me. I then went to my grandma (R.I.P she’s with the Lord) and asked her if she had seen it because I couldn’t find it. She said that she didn’t know where it was so then she told me to pray and the Lord will reveal it to you where it’s at. I then run to my parent’s bedroom and kneeled near the bed and asked God in prayer if He could show me where the Nintendo game was, “That was my first prayer”. As soon as after I finished praying the Lord suddenly showed me where the game was. He pinpointed where it was exactly and where I needed to go to find it. I then got up and walked out of the bedroom and walked toward the right where the glass cabinet was, and the game was inside exactly where He showed me behind a glass kettle.

I then run to my grandma and told her what had happened, and she told me to go back and give thanks, which I did. So, I was excited and had the game I wanted to play which my cousin had hidden, but he wasn’t too happy cause I had been playing it late the night before he must’ve been annoyed of it because I wasn’t good at it but I just kept trying and we only had one television.

The purpose of this is that prayer does work, you ask, and you shall receive. I asked in prayer and the Lord directed me toward it.

2nd I was in the 4th grade which was the year that I would preach to my friend about God. Every time we had a group project my friend would ask me to join him and while we were doing our work, I would preach to him about God. I didn’t know much but I was able to teach him enough of what was needed to be known.

Anyways it came time to take the exam weeks later. I didn’t know anything about the exam for that week so as soon as I read the first question, I remembered what my grandma told me, that I should pray so I did. Well… I failed the exam but then suddenly I don’t know what happened that time flew by that year not knowing how it happened that it was already summer, and I had passed the full year to the 5th grade.

I didn’t pass the exam, but God helped me pass the Year the bigger problem.

3rd My little brother and I were at the backyard playing baseball, when we lived in Frisco. My brother was young, he could barely take hold of the bat. So, there he was complaining and hurt because he could never hit the ball over the fence like my other brother Isai and me. So, I told him and showed him what he needed to do. I showed him how to hold the bat up right and swing at the ball when it gets to some certain point and to hit it with the midpoint of the bat. So, I got the ball and asked him if he was ready, he said he was. I got the ball I closed my eyes and prayed asking God to let my brother hit the ball of the fence, amen. I pitched the ball, underhanded, he swung and hit the ball, the ball goes flying over the furthest part of the fence near the corner. I never saw him so excited in my life, and I just said Thank You Jesus. My prayers were answered. I was 12, he was around 7 or 8.

4th There was a storm, bad winds one night. My brothers and I got scared when we looked outside the window at night. The wind was blowing furiously, raining and lightning. We were living in Frisco. We told our mother and she replied that we were scared cause we needed to pray. Well, we all got together, it was a church night, but we didn’t go to church cause my dad was still at work that night on a Wednesday. We knelt on the side of the bed in their room, parents’ room, and we started praying. As soon as we finished praying the storm calmed down and suddenly, we weren’t afraid anymore, all fear left us.

Prayer is Key. No matter what problem or situation you are in, pray and the Lord will answer and/or rescue you. I started praying at a young age because of my mom and grandma, of course there were times I had strayed away from the Lord, but the Lord still brought me back to him and I would come back when he called, sometimes it took longer than others, but I would come back, I was drawn to Him, for some reason I could never actually be without Him. I’ve regretted the times I stayed away and rebelled against Him, but now I’m glad I’m back with Him. There are still times I do go off course, cause I’m not perfect. At times I sin but I come back cause the Holy Spirit convicts me and reminds me that I need to repent, so I do. I repent. But I would always come back because of my parents’ prayers.

If you have fallen away from the Lord, you can reconcile with Him. He’ll forgive you through Jesus Christ. That’s why Jesus died for our sins so that through His blood our sins are covered, no matter how many times we fall, He will lift us up. You are never too far away from Him, and you will never be alone even when you feel that you are.

Pray.
