Some people are imprisoned by bitterness, resentment, hatred, and unforgiveness. They smile in public but carry deep wounds in their hearts. Satan delights when people refuse to forgive because unforgiveness becomes fertile ground for his destructive work. Many people have been deeply wounded by betrayal, abuse, abandonment, false accusations, family conflicts, or broken relationships. God does not ignore such pain. He understands it. However, He warns us not to allow our wounds to become weapons that Satan uses against us. The devil knows that an unforgiving heart gradually hardens. Prayer becomes difficult, love grows cold, peace disappears, and joy is replaced by anger. Broken relationships often multiply, and many people remain emotionally and spiritually bound for years because they refuse to release those who have offended them. In many African families, and globally, long-standing disputes over inheritance, marriage, land, or tribal differences have divided generations. Some families have refused to speak to one another for decades. Such bitterness destroys homes, churches, friendships, and communities. While people often blame witches or curses, they sometimes overlook the destructive power of hatred and unforgiveness. The Bible says, "Neither give place to the devil." One of the ways believers give him a foothold is by refusing to forgive. Forgiveness does not mean pretending that evil never happened, nor does it always remove earthly consequences. It means releasing the offender into God's hands instead of allowing bitterness to rule your heart. Jesus Christ is our perfect example. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD..."* *DAILY READING* Acts 19:17–20; Acts 8:9–24; Isaiah 47:9–15 *🔥 SEEKING SPIRITUAL POWER OUTSIDE GOD'S WILL IS DANGEROUS*. Many people are introduced to the occult through curiosity. Others are driven by fear, poverty, the desire for protection, influence, wealth, healing, or supernatural power. What often begins as an experiment or a search for answers can become a spiritual prison. The occult includes practices such as divination, spiritism, magic, sorcery, fortune-telling, consulting mediums, ritual sacrifices, occult covenants, and seeking supernatural knowledge or power apart from God. The Bible consistently warns against these practices because they lead people away from trusting the living God. In many parts of Africa and around the world, people may join secret societies or submit to rituals believing they will gain success, protection, or promotion. While experiences differ from person to person, Scripture warns that seeking spiritual power outside God's will is dangerous. It opens the heart to deception and replaces dependence on God with dependence on counterfeit spiritual sources. The consequences can be severe. People may become controlled by fear, guilt, secrecy, and spiritual confusion. Relationships are damaged, prayer loses its passion, the conscience becomes hardened, and many live under a burden they cannot explain. Some discover that the peace, freedom, and prosperity they sought never truly arrived. Yet no one is beyond the reach of God's mercy. In Acts 19, many who had practiced occult arts publicly turned to Christ and destroyed the objects connected with their former lives. They found forgiveness instead of condemnation and freedom instead of bondage. If you have ever been involved in any occult practice, whether willingly or through family tradition, do not lose hope. Many people have grown up hearing stories of mysterious attacks, unexplained deaths, repeated failures, strange dreams, spiritual manipulation, and families living under constant fear of witches and wizards. While some stories may be exaggerated or based on superstition, the Bible leaves no doubt that occult practices and witchcraft are real and are contrary to the will of God. In Scripture, witchcraft is any attempt to gain supernatural power, knowledge, or influence apart from the living God. Those who practiced sorcery often relied on occult spirits rather than the Holy Spirit. God strongly forbade His people from participating in such practices because they lead people away from Him and into spiritual bondage. Yet the Bible presents Satan as a real spiritual being who is actively working against God's purposes and against humanity. In many African, Asian, European communities, people attribute every problem to witches and wizards. While witchcraft is real, believers must understand that Satan is the chief enemy behind every kingdom of darkness. He is the mastermind of rebellion against God and the leader of demonic forces. The name Satan means "adversary" or "opponent." His mission is to oppose God and everything that reflects God's glory. From the Garden of Eden, Satan has sought to deceive mankind, corrupt destinies, destroy families, attack ministries, and keep people away from salvation. The devil operates through deception. He convinces people that sin is harmless, that repentance can be postponed, and that they can live without God. He promotes pride, rebellion, immorality, hatred, occultism, and unbelief. Many people become vulnerable to satanic influence through persistent sin, occult involvement, ungodly associations, and rejection of God's Word. Satan cannot force a believer to sin, but he constantly seeks opportunities to tempt, deceive, and weaken spiritual lives. The good news is that Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. Through His death and resurrection, Christ defeated Satan and gave believers authority over all the powers of darkness. The Christian's responsibility is not to fear Satan but to resist him through faith, obedience, prayer, and the Word of God. Some have experienced attacks in dreams, repeated misfortunes, mysterious sicknesses, strange family patterns, occult manipulations, and spiritual oppression. The Bible clearly teaches that there is an invisible kingdom of darkness operating in the world. Satan and his demons seek to oppose God's purposes and destroy human lives. However, Christians must understand that not every problem is caused by demons. At the same time, it is dangerous to ignore the existence of evil spirits because the Bible repeatedly warns believers about them. Demons are fallen spirits that rebelled with Satan against God. Their mission is to steal, kill, and destroy. - John 10:10. They promote sin, deception, bondage, fear, immorality, idolatry, and rebellion against God. Throughout the globe, many people unknowingly give access to demonic powers through idol worship, occult practices, witchcraft consultations, charms, ancestral covenants, secret societies, and ungodly lifestyles. A believer must understand that the victory over all demonic powers has already been secured through Jesus Christ. Satan is powerful, but he is not all-powerful. Demons are real, but Jesus Christ is Lord over all principalities and powers. There is a difference between: Begging in uncertainty and speaking from identity in Christ. Understanding Command-Level Prayer: Command-level prayer is not arrogance.
