• BIBLE STUDY — February 17 | Leviticus Chapter 16

    INTRODUCTION

Atonement, the single day each year when the high priest could enter the Most Holy Place to make atonement for the sins of the entire nation. This chapter reveals God’s holiness, the seriousness of sin, and His merciful provision for forgiveness. It also clearly points forward to Jesus Christ, our ultimate High Priest and final sacrifice.

    Peace Through Trust

    (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV)

Peace is not circumstantial—it is relational. Isaiah reveals that peace is sustained when the mind remains fixed on God. Trust directs focus, and focus preserves peace.

An unsettled mind often reflects divided trust. Walking with God means training our thoughts to rest on His faithfulness rather than rehearsing fear. God guards peace where trust is steady.

Peace grows when the heart remains anchored in God’s truth.

    Reflection Questions:

    1. What occupies my thoughts most often?

    2. How does trust influence my peace?

    3. What would it look like to fix my mind on God today?

    Prayer:

Lord, quiet my mind and steady my heart. Help me to trust You fully and fix my thoughts on Your truth. In
    Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Practical Application:

    ● Replace anxious thoughts with Scripture.

    ● Pause to pray when peace feels disrupted.

    ● Focus intentionally on God’s faithfulness today.

    Takeaway Thought:

Lasting peace flows from trusting God and fixing our minds on Him.

  • BIBLE STUDY — February 17 | Leviticus Chapter 17

    INTRODUCTION

Leviticus chapter 17 centers on the sanctity of blood and God’s authority over worship, life, and atonement. This chapter marks a transition in Leviticus from laws focused mainly on priestly duties to laws governing the daily spiritual life of all Israel. God makes it clear that worship must be centralized, sin must be handled His way, and blood—because it represents life—must be treated as sacred. These instructions prepared Israel to understand the seriousness of sin and pointed forward to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

    CONTEXT SUMMARY

At this point in Israel’s journey, God had established the tabernacle as the place where He dwelled among His people. Many Israelites were still influenced by pagan practices, including offering sacrifices outside God’s appointed system. Leviticus 17 corrects this by emphasizing that all sacrifices must be brought to the LORD, not offered privately or mixed with idolatry. God also explains why blood is sacred: it represents life and is the means God chose for atonement. This chapter reinforces obedience, reverence, and the holiness of God.

    VERSE-BY-VERSE TEACHING (NKJV)

    Leviticus 17:1

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Teaching: God initiates instruction; these laws originate from Him, not human tradition.

Application: God’s standards for holiness come from His authority, not our preferences.

    Leviticus 17:2

“Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘This is the thing which the
    LORD has commanded, saying:

Teaching: God addresses priests and people alike.

Application: God’s commands apply to everyone, not just spiritual leaders.

    Leviticus 17:3

“Whatever man of the house of Israel who kills an ox or lamb or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp,

Teaching: Even common acts involving animals were spiritually regulated.

Application: God cares about how everyday actions are handled in His presence.

    Leviticus 17:4

“and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting to offer an offering to the LORD… that man shall be cut off from among his people,

Teaching: Unauthorized sacrifice was considered bloodshed.

Application: Worship must be done God’s way, not casually or independently.

    Leviticus 17:5

“to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices… and offer them as peace offerings to the LORD.

Teaching: God centralized worship to protect purity and unity.

Application: God desires worship that brings peace, order, and obedience.

    Leviticus 17:6

“And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the LORD… and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to the LORD.

Teaching: Blood and sacrifice were essential to acceptable worship.

Application: True worship involves surrender and reverence toward God.

    Leviticus 17:7

“They shall no more offer their sacrifices to demons… This shall be a statute forever…”

    Teaching: Idolatry was spiritual unfaithfulness.

Application: God demands exclusive devotion, not divided worship.

    Leviticus 17:8

“Also you shall say to them: ‘Whatever man… who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

Teaching: God includes both Israelites and foreigners under His law.

Application: God’s holiness applies to all who dwell among His people.

    Leviticus 17:9

‘and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle… that man shall be cut off…

    Teaching: Obedience determines acceptance.

Application: God values submission over personal religious expression.

    Leviticus 17:10

‘And whatever man… who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person…

Teaching: Eating blood violated God’s sacred design.

Application: Disrespecting what God declares holy brings consequences.

    Leviticus 17:11

‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’

Teaching: Blood represents life and is God’s chosen means of atonement.

Application: Forgiveness requires life given on behalf of sin.

    Leviticus 17:12

“Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘No one among you shall eat blood…’

Teaching: God clearly restates His command for emphasis.

Application: Repeated instruction highlights importance, not uncertainty.

    Leviticus 17:13

    “Whatever man… who hunts and catches any animal… he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust;

Teaching: Blood must be returned to God, the giver of life.

Application: Life is sacred and must be treated with respect.

    Leviticus 17:14

“for it is the life of all flesh… Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

Teaching: Life belongs to God alone.

Application: God determines how life is honored and preserved.

    Leviticus 17:15

“And every person who eats what died naturally… shall wash his clothes… and be unclean until evening.

Teaching: Even accidental impurity required cleansing.

Application: God provides restoration when impurity is acknowledged.

    Leviticus 17:16

“But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then he shall bear his guilt.”

Teaching: Refusal to obey results in guilt.

Application: God offers cleansing, but obedience is required.

    CONCLUSION

Leviticus chapter 17 teaches that life is sacred, worship must be obedient, and atonement belongs to God alone. By emphasizing the sanctity of blood, God prepared His people to understand that forgiveness is costly and holy. These laws ultimately point forward to Jesus Christ, whose blood was poured out once and for all to make eternal atonement. Today, believers honor this truth by living lives of obedience, reverence, and gratitude for the life given on our behalf.

Leviticus 17:11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ Teaching: Blood represents life and is God’s chosen means of atonement. Leviticus 17:12 “Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘No one among you shall eat blood…’ Teaching: God clearly restates His command for emphasis. Application: Repeated instruction highlights importance, not uncertainty. Leviticus 17:13 “Whatever man… who hunts and catches any animal… he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust; Teaching: Blood must be returned to God, the giver of life. Leviticus 17:16 “But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then he shall bear his guilt.” Teaching: Refusal to obey results in guilt. Application: God offers cleansing, but obedience is required. CONCLUSION Leviticus chapter 17 teaches that life is sacred, worship must be obedient, and atonement belongs to God alone. #LordsbookDailys #ThroughTheBible #Leviticus17 #BibleStudy #Holiness #Atonement #LifeInTheBlood #GetInTheWord #FaithOnline #ChristianCommunity
