A WARNING TO REPENT BEFORE JUDGEMENT
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 16] Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
This verse is a solemn warning to the church that have allowed false teachers and doctrines among them , Christ therefore calls them to repentance before judgement comes.
*Repent: Christ is not merely asking them to feel sorry for what they have done but to turn away from their sins and return in obedience to God
2*or else I will come unto thee quickly.
God patience with the sinner should not be mistaken for approval of their evil, if his call to repentance is persistently refused his judgement will certainly fall on the unrepentant.
3"1 will fight against them : when any church or a so called Christian persist in falsehood , compromise and sin they place themselves in opposition to Christ and risk his wrath .
4*with the sword of my mouth: Christ judges with his word just as he saves us by faith in his word, those who refuse to obey his loving plea to repent will be judged and condemned by his word at last.
*Key truths:
1*False doctrines leads to sin and compromise and attracts divine judgement .
2, The only escape from God's judgement is repentance from all known sin.
3*There is mercy and forgiveness from God for every one who repents

The things the Lord have against us.
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 14] But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
These verse reveals to us that though the Lord is always glad of some good things we have done there may some areas in our life which he is not happy with, we should not be content in the areas we are doing well but should strive to be sound in all areas of our spiritual life.
"What are the areas that Christ is not happy with the pergamos church?
1,torerance of false prophets and teachers.
2, permission of false doctrines .
3, accepting practices that became stumbbling blocks among them
4, eating things sacrificed to idols
5, prevailing acts of fornication.
From all these we understand that when any church or individual begins to allow false prophets and teachers and their teachings the results will be backsliding and sins
there is a strong connection between false doctrines and a lifestyle of sin.
*Any doctrine that downplays sin, make sin less serious than it is, excuses sin, make people to fear not God's judgement against sin, teaches that grace covers our sinful lifestyle is a false doctrine.
False teachers being religious secret sinners can only lead the people that hears them to error, sin and damnation.
Application:
We should not hear , believes or follow those that teaches any doctrine that contradicts the biblical truths .

What is salvation
Ephesians 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Salvation is God loving act of
rescuing mankind from sin and it's consequences . Man is separated from God because of sin and can not save himself but in his great mercy God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins and rise again offering forgiveness and a new life to all who believes.
Salvation is not earned by good works , religious efforts or moral behavior, it is a gift of God's grace received through faith in Jesus Christ , when a person acknowledge and repents of his sins , confess them to God puting his faith in Jesus Christ and receive him into his heart , he is forgiven , justified and brought into relationship with God,
Salvation delivers us from the penalty of sin , gives us victory over its power and assures us of eternal life with God.
True salvation also brings transformation of life , those who are saved walks in obedience, holiness and love.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of salvation through your son Jesus Christ , I acknowledge my sin and I can not save myself, I trust fully in your grace , save me now, change my life and make my your child from today, in Jesus name I pray Amen

Commendation for holding on to Christ name and faith in a hostile environment:
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 13] I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
Pergamos is a major center of pagan worship and imperial authority ,. Christ describes it as "seat of Satan" because of intense concentration of idolatry and opposition to Christianity there , it is a place were Satan's influence and opposition to God's people were particularly strong , yet the believers there hold fast the name of Christ and did not deny his name .
They remain royal to Christ and openly identified with him and refuse to abandon their faith in him despite persecutions and martyrdom .
Lessons:
We should hold on to our faith in Christ in a in hostile environment and in the face of opposition to our Christian conviction.

How to have the peace of God
Jude 1 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Sin brings fear of God's judgement, but when repent of our sins and revieve Jesus into our hearts we receive pardon for our sins through the mercy of God and are assured in our hearts that we are his children, his peace fills our hearts, the peace refers in this verse is the inner calmness in our soul that comes as a result of our reconciliation with God . there is the presence of God and a settled assurance in our hearts that drives away fear of his judgement when we truly become his children. When we do his will we have confidence with him because our lives pleases him and his anger is turned away from us, it is the assurance that we belongs to God that brings peace to our hearts . Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5:1

THE DOUBLE EDGED SWORD:
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 12] And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
Christ introduced himself to this church as the one who hath two edge sword.
Throughout scripture the word of God is described as a sword, it is sharp, living and a two edge sword piercing and penetrating the heart with convinction and exposing what is hidden within us
*Two edge sword.
This description of the sword having two edges speaks of penetrating and decisive power, the word of God brings salvation to those that believes and obeys it but it also judges and condemn those who reject it.we are either saved or condemned by the word,,it is the word of God that will judge us on the last day if we fail to believe and practice it today,as a two edge sword it can cut us in or cut us off.
*One of the disrciptive names of Jesus is "The word of God" he is the word personified, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God and the word becomes flesh, John 1:1-2 this narrative was referring to Christ, the word of God,Revelation 19:13
Christ therefore does not merely speaks the word,he himself is the living word of God.
Key truths;
What you do with the word of God will determines what God will do to you.

Christ promise to overcomers
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 11] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
The Bible is the word of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit to his church and to all believers in every generations. in this verse Christ made a solem and glorious promise to everyone who shall overcome to the end-they shall not be hurt of the second death.
We have all been overcomed bySatan, sin and the world in our past, but the journey into an overcoming life begins with repentance from all sin and faith in Jesus Christ,we come to him for mercy , forgiveness and salvation, with sincere willingness to turn away from our sinful ways . from that moment we receive power to become children of God and begin to live in victory.
*The definition of second death:
The scripture present death not simply as a ceasesion of existence but separation.
*Physical death is the separation of the body from the soul
*Spiritual death is the separation from God because of sin.
*Second death is the everlasting separation from God in the lake of fire for all eternity.
Key truths:
1,To be saved from the second death which is the lake of fire, one must live and die as an overcomer over sin .
2,A life deliberately lived in sin is a prove of absent of salvation.
3,We can not be living in defeat and expect to receive the promise given to overcomers:
Let us therefore examine our lives and seek for grace to live the overcoming life.

Christ perfect knowledge about us
Revelation 2 Kullie Mawolo
[vs: 9] I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
The words of Christ to the church in smyma reveals his divinity,as God he knows everything we do for his name sake, he knows every persecution we have faced and endured , sacrifices we have made and even the material losses we may suffer because we refuse to bow to the demands of the world. The fact that Christ knows everything we endured for his sake should be an encouragement unto us when we pass through trails because of our faith in him and should make us to persevere in the Lord when following him becomes difficult .
Our Lord knows what we are going through and he will not forget those who remain steadfast , let us therefore persevere in the Lord trusting in his grace, strength and faithfulness at all time.

BE INTORANT OF FALSE TEACHERS
Revelation 2 [RSV]
[vs: 2] “..... and how you cannot bear evil men but have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not, and found them to be lairs;
This part of the verse highlights the ephesians commitment to holiness and doctrinal discernment . They were not the church that accepted every person or every teaching without examining them with the scripture.
Like the ephesians any believer who will not be decieved and led astray by false doctrines and teachers must have the commitment to not accept any teaching that doesn't align with the holy scripture no matter the religious claim or title of the person preaching it.
"And how thou canst not bear them which are evil " .The phrase canst not bear means they would not toralate or approve of those whose life and teachings were evil , the word evil dose not only refers to immoral conducts but also to those who sought to corrupt the church through ungodly teachings or practices , Christ here called false apostles evil.the Ephesians believers understand that the church is called to be holy and did not compromise God's standards for anything or anyone because false teachings will ultimately leads to wrong lifestyles , unrighteousness and devietions from the narrow way that leads to heaven.
Application:
Can Christ commends you for not accepting, hearing or following teachers who are preaching perverted gospel.

HEAVEN IS FOR OVERCOMERS
Revelation 2 [NIV]
[vs: 7] He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
Adam and Eve was denied the right to eat of the three of life in the garden of Eden because they were overcomed by the devil when he decieved them to eat the fruit of the knowledge of evil and good in disobedience to GOD'S commmandment.
They were driving out from Paradise that they may not eat of the tree of life and lives in sin without dying
