  • When Matthew records the moment Jesus died he lists three immediate supernatural responses. The earth shook. The rocks split. The tombs broke open.
And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
Most people picture a curtain. Something like a heavy theatre drape or a decorative room divider. Something that — while significant — a person could physically tear if they grabbed it with enough force and desperation.
That picture is completely wrong. And understanding what the veil actually was changes everything about what happened when it tore.
The temple veil — the parochet — was the barrier that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. The outer courts of the temple were accessible to any Jewish person. The inner courts were accessible to priests. The Holy Place was accessible only to specific priests performing specific functions. But the Holy of Holies — the innermost chamber, the room where the presence of God dwelt above the Ark of the Covenant — was accessible to exactly one person on exactly one day of the year.
The High Priest. On Yom Kippur.
That was it. One man. One day. Everyone else — every ordinary Israelite, every common priest, every scribe and Pharisee and teacher of the law — was permanently and absolutely excluded from the presence of God by that veil.
And the veil itself was built to communicate that exclusion powerfully and unmistakeably.
Jewish historical sources — including the writings of Josephus — describe the temple veil in detail. It was not a curtain. It was approximately 60 feet tall. As tall as a six-storey building. It was woven from blue, purple and scarlet yarn — colours that in the ancient world represented heaven, royalty and blood. It was four inches thick. Not four inches of loose fabric — four inches of densely woven material so strong that the Talmud records it required 300 priests to handle it during temple operations.
This was a wall. A woven wall between humanity and the presence of God.
And when Jesus died — at 3pm on Good Friday — it tore.
Not from the bottom up — which would suggest a human being grabbed the lower edge and pulled. From the top down. Starting at a point 60 feet above the ground that no human hand could reach. Tearing downward completely. In two pieces.
The direction of the tear is the testimony.
God tore it. From His side. From the top. Downward. Opening the way that had been closed since Eden. Removing the barrier that had stood between humanity and His presence since the day sin entered the world.
The High Priest went into the Holy of Holies once a year with blood that could never truly remove sin. Jesus entered heaven itself with His own blood — once — and the veil that kept everyone else out was destroyed at the moment of His death.
You are not kept at a distance from God anymore. The 60-foot woven wall is gone. The barrier is down. The way is open. The presence that was accessible to one man one day a year is now accessible to every person, every moment, every day, through the name of Jesus.
The veil didn't just tear. It was demolished. By God. From the top down. The moment the price was paid.
Share this with your church family this Good Friday. This is what His death actually opened.

  • NO ONE LOVES LIKE JESUS

The world teaches us to love those who love us.

Jesus taught us to love even when it is difficult.

    The world says, "Take revenge."

    Jesus says, "Forgive."

The world says, "Think of yourself first."

    Jesus says, "Serve others."

The world measures greatness by power, wealth, and status.

Jesus measured greatness by love, humility, and sacrifice.

When people rejected Him, He still loved them.
When people mocked Him, He still prayed for them.
When people nailed Him to the cross, He still chose mercy.

What kind of love is this?

A love that never gives up.
    A love that never fails.
A love that reaches the broken, the lost, and the forgotten.

    You may feel unworthy today.
You may feel burdened by your mistakes.

But Jesus looks beyond your past and sees your value.

His love is not based on your perfection.
His love is based on His grace.

When you are weak, He is your strength.
When you are lost, He is your guide.
When you are hurting, He is your comfort.
When you are hopeless, He is your hope.

The cross is God's message to the world:

"You are loved more than you can imagine."

"Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future... will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 8:38-39

    Jesus doesn't just change lives.

    He transforms hearts.

  • JESUS DIED AS IF HE SINNED... SO I CAN LIVE.

Let that sink in for a moment.

The One who was completely innocent took the punishment that belonged to me. He carried my shame, my failures, my sins, and my brokenness to the cross.

Because of Jesus, I am forgiven.
Because of Jesus, I am free.
Because of Jesus, I have hope.
Because of Jesus, I have LIFE.

No matter what you've done or where you've been, His grace is greater. His love is deeper. His mercy is still available today.

    THANK YOU, JESUS!

  • HE TOOK THE NAILS.

    He took the thorns.
    He took the pain.
    He took the cross.

And He did it all for YOU.

    Not because we deserved it...
    Not because we earned it...

But because He loved us that much.

The greatest love story ever told wasn't written with ink...

    It was written with nails.
    It was written with scars.
It was written with the blood of Jesus.

When He could have walked away...
    He stayed.

When He could have called angels...
    He endured.

    When He was rejected...
    He still chose love.

    That's not religion.
    That's relationship.
    That's Jesus.

    Today, remember this:

    You are loved.
    You are forgiven.
    You are worth dying for.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son..." — John 3:16

  • GOD FIRST. ALWAYS.

Before the opinions. Before the fear. Before the struggle. Before the battle. Before EVERYTHING…

    GOD FIRST. ALWAYS.

When God is first: Peace hits different. Purpose becomes clearer. Strength rises in weakness. Darkness loses its power.

The world may shake… People may fail you… Storms may come…

    BUT GOD REMAINS FAITHFUL.

“Seek first the Kingdom of God…” — Matthew 6:33

Put God first in: your heart your mind your home your battles your decisions

And watch how your life begins to change.

No matter what comes against me… No matter what I face… I know WHO stands beside me.

GOD FIRST when life is good. GOD FIRST when life is hard. GOD FIRST in every season.

If God comes FIRST in your life, comment: “GOD FIRST ALWAYS!”
