• TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS:

    SERMON TOPIC:

    IS YOUR LIFE A STAGE OR AN ALTAR?

    Main Text: Romans 12:1

    «“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”»

    WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING WITH YOUR LIFE?

    Every day, we stand before an audience.
    People watch what we do.
    People listen to what we say.
    People observe our success, relationships, appearance, ministry and lifestyle.
    But there is an audience greater than humanity: God.
    The question is not simply, “What do people think about me?”
    The deeper question is:
    “What does God see when He looks at my life?”
    A stage is where people perform to be seen.
    An altar is where a person surrenders to God.
    On a stage, the question is:
    «“How do I look?”»
    At an altar, the question is:
    «“Lord, what do You want from me?”»
    Many people are living on a stage while believing they are standing at an altar.
    They pray publicly but disobey privately.
    They appear spiritual before people but live differently when nobody is watching.
    They want the applause of men but have lost the approval of God.

    Today, God is calling us from performance to surrender, from appearance to authenticity, and from the stage to the altar.
    1. THE STAGE SEEKS APPLAUSE; THE ALTAR SEEKS GOD'S APPROVAL
    Jesus warned about religious performance.
    Matthew 6:1
    «“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them.”»
    Jesus was not condemning good works. He was exposing the wrong motive.
    You can do the right thing for the wrong reason.
    You can preach because you want recognition.
    You can sing because you want applause.
    You can give because you want people to celebrate you.
    You can post Scripture because you want people to praise your spirituality.
    But God looks beyond the action and examines the heart.
    1 Samuel 16:7
    «“Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”»
    The stage asks: “Who is watching?”
    The altar asks: “Is God pleased?”
    A person living at the altar does not need human applause to remain faithful.
    Spiritual insight:
    If your Christianity only works when people are watching, you may be performing rather than worshipping.
    2. THE STAGE DISPLAYS TALENT; THE ALTAR REVEALS CHARACTER
    Talent can put you on a platform.
    Character determines whether you can remain there without destroying yourself.
    David had musical ability.
    David had courage.
    David had leadership ability.
    But before David stood before kings, he learned to stand before God in the wilderness.
    The altar develops what the stage cannot produce.
    The stage can reveal your gift.
    The altar reveals your heart.
    A person can be gifted and still lack character.
    A person can preach powerfully and live carelessly.
    A person can sing beautifully and still have an uncontrolled heart.
    A person can be celebrated publicly and be broken privately.
    That is why God is more interested in who you are becoming than merely what you are doing.
    Galatians 5:22–23
    The fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
    Notice that Scripture calls these fruit, not performance.
    Fruit grows from a life connected to God.
    Ask yourself:
    What happens to my character when nobody is watching?
    That question can reveal whether your life is a stage or an altar.
    3. THE STAGE WANTS TO RECEIVE; THE ALTAR IS WILLING TO SURRENDER
    An altar is a place of sacrifice.
    Romans 12:1 says:
    «“Present your bodies a living sacrifice…”»
    God does not merely want your Sunday.
    He wants your Monday.
    He does not only want your voice in church.
    He wants your conversations at home.
    He does not only want your offering.
    He wants your heart.
    He does not only want your public ministry.
    He wants your private obedience.
    The stage says:
    “God, bless what I want to do.”
    The altar says:
    “God, I surrender what I want to do to Your will.”
    That is the difference.
    Jesus demonstrated this in Gethsemane.
    Luke 22:42
    «“Not my will, but thine, be done.”»
    That is altar language.
    Sometimes the greatest worship you can give God is not a song.
    It is surrender.
    4. THE STAGE CAN BE MAINTAINED BY APPEARANCE; THE ALTAR REQUIRES TRUTH
    A stage can be decorated.
    An altar cannot hide the condition of the sacrifice.
    God is calling His people back to authenticity.
    Psalm 51:6
    «“Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts…”»
    God wants truth in the hidden places.
    Who are you when the phone is off?
    Who are you when nobody is applauding?
    Who are you when you are angry?
    Who are you when you have money?
    Who are you when you have power?
    Who are you when temptation comes?
    Who are you when nobody can reward you?
    That is where character is tested.
    Christianity is not merely about looking holy.
    It is about becoming holy.
    5. GOD DOES NOT WANT A PERFORMANCE; HE WANTS A LIVING SACRIFICE
    Romans 12:1 gives us the picture clearly:
    «“Present your bodies a living sacrifice…”»
    Notice the word living.
    The Christian life is not a one-time emotional experience.
    It is daily surrender.
    Every morning, we should be able to say:
    “Lord, my life belongs to You.”
    My plans belong to You.
    My career belongs to You.
    My relationships belong to You.
    My finances belong to You.
    My gifts belong to You.
    My body belongs to You.
    My future belongs to You.
    That is life on the altar.

    BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: SAUL AND DAVID

    Two men were anointed by God.
    Two men were given opportunities.
    But their responses to God were different.
    Saul became increasingly concerned about how he appeared before people.
    1 Samuel 15:24
    Saul admitted that he feared the people and obeyed their voice.
    David, despite his failures, repeatedly returned to God with a repentant heart.
    Psalm 51:10
    «“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”»
    Saul was concerned about his image.
    David was concerned about his heart.
    One was more concerned about the stage.
    The other understood the altar.
    This does not mean David was perfect. He was not.
    It means that when confronted by God, David learned to return to Him.

    STAGE VS ALTAR

    THE STAGE| THE ALTAR
    Seeks applause| Seeks God's approval
    Focuses on appearance| Focuses on character
    Wants recognition| Wants obedience
    Performs before people| Surrenders before God
    Protects image| Pursues holiness
    Says “Look at me”| Says “Lord, use me”
    Lives for public approval| Lives for divine purpose

    PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS

    1. Examine your motives
    Ask:
    “Why am I doing what I am doing?”
    2. Build a private life with God
    Do not allow your public ministry to become larger than your private relationship with God.
    3. Stop living for human applause
    People can praise you today and criticize you tomorrow.
    God's approval must become your anchor.
    4. Repent where necessary
    If there are hidden areas of compromise, bring them before God.
    Do not protect what God is asking you to surrender.
    5. Practice obedience when nobody is watching
    The secret place is where genuine Christianity is developed.
    6. Make your whole life worship
    Your workplace can become worship.
    Your family life can become worship.
    Your business can become worship.
    Your ministry can become worship.
    Your private decisions can become worship.

    DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS

    1. God is more interested in your heart than your platform.
    A bigger platform without a deeper heart can become dangerous.
    2. Public success cannot compensate for private failure.
    You can impress thousands and still grieve God.
    3. The altar comes before the platform.
    Before God uses a person publicly, He often works on that person privately.
    4. Your greatest audience is God.
    People see moments.
    God sees the entire life.
    5. The altar is where ambition dies and purpose is born.
    Sometimes God must remove our desire to be seen before He can trust us to be used.

    QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION

    1. Am I living to please God or to impress people?
    2. Who am I when nobody is watching?
    3. Is my private life consistent with my public confession?
    4. Am I more interested in being celebrated or being transformed?
    5. What have I refused to surrender to God?
    6. Have I allowed social media to become my stage?
    7. Is my ministry flowing from intimacy with God or the desire for recognition?
    8. If God removed the applause, would I still serve Him?
    9. What area of my life needs to return to the altar?
    10. Can God trust me with a greater platform?

    POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS

    1. Prayer for a pure heart
    Father, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Let my private life please You.
    2. Prayer against hypocrisy
    Lord, deliver me from every form of hypocrisy and spiritual performance. Let my public life agree with my private life.
    3. Prayer for genuine surrender
    Father, I surrender my plans, ambitions, gifts, relationships and future to You. Have Your way in my life.
    4. Prayer against the desire for human applause
    Lord, free me from the bondage of seeking human approval. Teach me to live for Your approval alone.
    5. Prayer for character
    Holy Spirit, develop Christlike character in me. Let my character be greater than my platform.
    6. Prayer for usefulness
    Lord, make my life an instrument in Your hands. Let everything You have placed in me bring glory to Your name.

    COME DOWN FROM THE STAGE.

    Perhaps the greatest question today is not:
    “How many people know me?”
    It is:
    “Does God know me?”
    Not:
    “How impressive is my life?”
    But:
    “How surrendered is my life?”
    The world says:
    “Build your platform.”
    God says:
    “Build your altar.”
    The world says:
    “Make people notice you.”
    God says:
    “Let your light shine so that people may glorify your Father.”
    The stage is temporary.
    The applause is temporary.
    Popularity is temporary.
    Titles are temporary.
    But what you do for God and who you become in Christ have eternal significance.
    So today, come down from the stage.
    Lay down the need to impress.
    Lay down the need to be celebrated.
    Lay down the hidden compromise.
    Lay down the pride.
    Lay down the fear of people's opinions.
    Lay down your plans.
    And say:
    «“Lord, here I am. My life is Yours.”»

    FINAL DECLARATION

    My life will not be a stage for human applause.
    My life will be an altar for God's glory.
    My gifts will serve His purpose.
    My character will reflect Christ.
    My private life will honor Him.
    My public life will glorify Him.
    And everything I am and everything I have will belong to Jesus.
    Amen.

  • Good evening, brethren.
    1. Evening devotion for today.

    ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    WEDNESDAY 12TH AUGUST, 2026

    *SUB-THEME:*
    YOUTHS: VESSELS OF GOD'S GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    YIELDING TO GOD'S MOULDING PROCESS.

    *TEXT:*
    JEREMIAH 18:1-6
    [1] The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
    [2] “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear My words.”
    [3] So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel.
    [4] And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
    [5] Then the word of the Lord came to me:
    [6] “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

    *TOPIC:*
    YIELDING TO GOD'S MOULDING PROCESS.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
    In a world that encourages unchecked freedom and haste, it is challenging to submit to God's purpose patiently. Jeremiah uses the image of a potter and clay to illustrate God's sovereign authority to shape our lives as He wills. Though the moulding process may be uncomfortable and impact our character, desires, and attitudes, it is ultimately for our good. Yielding to this divine process transforms us into vessels of honor, shaped by grace. The key question is whether we are resisting or willingly submitting to God's refining work in our lives. Some delays in life, such as marriage, admission, employment, travel or even promotion, may be a moulding process orchestrated by God for our later glory. Do not allow these moulding processes to discourage you. Depend on God's plans for your life.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Yield to God's moulding process.

    *PRAYER:*
    Lord, here am I; mould me. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    2 TIMOTHY 2:21.
    "If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be instruments for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master, and prepared to do any good work.

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
    JEREMIAH 40-45.

    ED.ii. TERRIFIED

    "And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground." - Luke 22:44

    After the meal, Jesus took three of His disciples to the garden of Gethsemane. It was in this garden where He became terrified. Jesus, a man of sorrows, was confronted here with a pain He never experienced before in His life as the Son of man. Jesus was always joyful and at rest, but in this garden, everything became different. His peace was gone, His rest turned into a deadly fear. He even prayed: 'Abba, Father, everything is possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.' (Mark 14:36).

    Jesus' battle

    Jesus was waging a heavy battle. His sweat even became like drops of blood. He walked to His disciples and wanted to share His terrible fear with them. But they had fallen asleep. I always thought that Jesus was terrified because He was fighting the evil one in this garden. But then I realized that this is impossible, because Jesus already won that battle during the temptation in the desert. I understood that Jesus is talking about a cup here and He is asking His Father to take that cup away from Him if possible.

    This cup did not come from the Pharisees, nor from the evil one, nor from His sleeping disciples, nor from His traitor or other people, but from His own Father. That cup was filled with our sins, diseases and guilt. All the evil was in that cup. And now He had to drink that cup. That terrified Him, because with this cup God, His Father, would burden Him with all our sins!

    He was without fault, He was clean and holy. He could not sin. By drinking that cup, He stood in the place of sinners. The curse and the punishment had to come on Him. He was abandoned by God because of that guilt. Today we are able to come into God's presence 24 hours daily because Jesus drank that cup for us. Happy are those who believe this.

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    WP.i. Evening Prayer

    I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ⏤ Psalm 4:8

    A quiet heart is content with what God gives. ⏤ Elisabeth Elliot

    Our waiting eyes are on You, O Lord, this evening. The close of each day adds to our debt of gratitude for Your mercies and favors. We are not worthy of even the least of all Your goodness and loving-kindness, for we have sinned against You. Yet we hope in Your mercy and cast ourselves on Your grace.

    We thank You for the protection You have given us this day. We have gone out and come in, and You have kept us safe. You have blessed our home life, keeping us from harm, providing for our needs, and giving us strength for duty. You have blessed us in our work, giving us some measure of success and enabling us to continue in our place and do our tasks.

    We thank You for the grace You have given us to resist temptation, to bear our daily crosses, and to witness for You among others.

    Great Shepherd of all Your redeemed people, we ask You to take each member of our family into Your special care tonight. We cannot protect ourselves from the dangers of the darkness, so we entrust our lives to Your gracious keeping. May Your holy angels watch over our home. You who never slumber, keep watch over us.

    We pray for all our friends and neighbors. They have different needs, and we cannot know what each one requires, but You know. Grant each one what will be the truest blessing. Lead them in right paths. Let none of them be eternally lost. Remember Your church and give it spiritual enrichment. And to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be glory forever. Amen.

*REFLECTION:* Yield to God's moulding process. *PRAYER:* Lord, here am I; mould me. Amen. *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:* 2 TIMOTHY 2:21. "If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be instruments for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master, and prepared to do any good work. *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:* JEREMIAH 40-45. ED.ii. TERRIFIED "And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground." - Luke 22:44 After the meal, Jesus took three of His disciples to the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus' battle Jesus was waging a heavy battle. Happy are those who believe this. https://www.theblessingdevotional.com 2. Evening Prayer for today. WP.i. Evening Prayer I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ⏤ Psalm 4:8 A quiet heart is content with what God gives. ⏤ Elisabeth Elliot Our waiting eyes are on You, O Lord, this evening. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/38/evening #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

    THEME: OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS III

    MEMORISE: And it came to pass in those days, that he went out in to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

    Luke 6:12

    READ: Matthew 26:37-41

    37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

    38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

    39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

    40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

    41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

    MESSAGE

    This statement 'A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian' is not a direct quote from the Bible, but I have found it to be very accurate. If you don't make prayer your lifestyle, you will be too weak to overcome the devil's temptations when they come. In Matthew 26:41, Jesus told His disciples:

    Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

    Some people claim that they want to live above temptations, but they always find themselves failing. If you check carefully, many individuals who face this challenge often have a weak prayer life. Even though they desire to live a holy life, they are too weak to withstand the devil's temptations because they are not prayerful. For example, Peter failed to pray sufficiently at the Garden of Gethsemane, so it was not surprising that he denied Jesus three times after he had claimed that he was willing to die with Him. If Jesus had not prayed for Peter, the devil would have succeeded in sifting him away (Luke 22:31-32, 39-46).

    As a Christian, you must gather strength in the place of prayer to remain standing when temptation arises. Proverbs 24:10 says that if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. People who sleep when they ought to pray will faint in the day of adversity because they didn't build strength in the day of peace. Every human being will face a day of adversity. Jesus faced His at Golgotha, but He was well prepared for it. Before His crucifixion, He prayed intensely to the point that His sweat was as great drops of blood (Luke 22:44). Therefore, when Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and the other disciples deserted Him, He responded with love and kindness. Even when He was crucified, He asked God to forgive those who crucified Him (Luke 22:34). Only someone who has developed spiritual strength and stamina in the days of peace can respond like Jesus did in the day of adversity.

    Beloved, do you know why Apostle Paul urged you to pray without ceasing in 1 Thessalonians 5:17? It is because you have a relentless foe, the devil, who will tempt you without ceasing. However, being a prayerful Christian will give you a constant edge over him and ensure that you are not caught unawares in any way. Like the apostles in Acts 6:4, give yourself continually to prayer. May the Almighty God continue to strengthen you, in Jesus' name.

    ACTION POINT

    Take time to assess your current prayer life and commit to making the necessary adjustments where needed.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 64-66

    AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE

    HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

    1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!

    that calls me from a world of care,

    and bids me at my Father's throne

    make all my wants and wishes known.

    In seasons of distress and grief,

    my soul has often found relief,

    and oft escaped the tempter's snare

    by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

    2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!

    the joys I feel, the bliss I share

    of those whose anxious spirits burn

    with strong desires for thy return!

    With such I hasten to the place

    where God my Savior shows his face,

    and gladly take my station there,

    and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

    3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!

    thy wings shall my petition bear

    to him whose truth and faithfulness

    engage the waiting soul to bless.

    And since he bids me seek his face,

    believe his word, and trust his grace,

    I'll cast on him my every care,

    and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

    OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND 2026 THEME: OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS III MEMORISE: And it came to pass in those days, that he went out in to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 READ: Matthew 26:37-41 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. MESSAGE This statement 'A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian' is not a direct quote from the Bible, but I have found it to be very accurate. If you don't make prayer your lifestyle, you will be too weak to overcome the devil's temptations when they come. In Matthew 26:41, Jesus told His disciples: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ACTION POINT Take time to assess your current prayer life and commit to making the necessary adjustments where needed. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 64-66 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER 1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! that calls me from a world of care, and bids me at my Father's throne make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief, and oft escaped the tempter's snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer! 2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! the joys I feel, the bliss I share of those whose anxious spirits burn with strong desires for thy return! With such I hasten to the place where God my Savior shows his face, and gladly take my station there, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer! 3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! thy wings shall my petition bear to him whose truth and faithfulness engage the waiting soul to bless. And since he bids me seek his face, believe his word, and trust his grace, I'll cast on him my every care, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer! THE BIOGRAPHY OF JESUS CHRIST — THE LORD WHO SAVES.

    “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6.

    Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity—the Saviour who came into the world to reveal God's love, teach truth, and redeem humanity through His death and resurrection.

    1. PERSONAL INFORMATION
    Name: Jesus Christ
    Hebrew: Yeshua
    Greek: Iēsous
    Meaning: “The Lord Saves”
    Birth: Traditionally dated to around 4–6 B.C., in Bethlehem of Judea.
    Family:
    Mother: Mary, a young Jewish woman.
    Legal Father: Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth and descendant of David.
    Siblings: The Gospels mention brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas—and also unnamed sisters (Mark 6:3).
    Origin: Jesus was Jewish and was associated with the tribe of Judah and the royal lineage of David. He was raised in Nazareth of Galilee.

    2. EARLY LIFE
    Birth in Bethlehem: Jesus was laid in a manger because there was no room in the inn (Luke 2:7).
    Visitors: Shepherds came to see Him, and later wise men from the East visited Him.
    Flight to Egypt: Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Egypt to escape Herod's attempt to kill Him (Matthew 2:13–15).
    Return to Nazareth: After Herod's death, the family returned and settled in Nazareth.
    At Age 12: Jesus astonished the teachers in the temple with His understanding and answers (Luke 2:46–47).

    3. EDUCATION & TEACHING
    Jesus was not known to have attended a formal rabbinical school. Some people were amazed at His knowledge and asked, “How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?” (John 7:15).
    His teaching was marked by:
    Deep knowledge of Scripture
    Divine wisdom
    Dependence upon His Father
    Unparalleled spiritual authority
    Jesus was called Rabbi, meaning Teacher, by many who recognized His authority (John 3:2).
    His authority did not come from human credentials—it came from the truth He taught and the divine mission He fulfilled.

    4. CAREER & PUBLIC MINISTRY
    Occupation: Jesus was known as a carpenter or craftsman (Mark 6:3). He worked before beginning His public ministry.
    Public Ministry: He preached the Kingdom of God and:

    Spent time in quiet places
    His greatest passion was fulfilling the will of His Father and saving humanity.

    Sacrifice for us.
    Jesus Suffered, Died and Rose again for all of us.

    “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    BE Ready! Abide and Watch.

    “Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭34‬-‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    *Truly - Amen, “so let it be”. “May it be so”
    *Jesus knew. Jesus was setting His Plan into place.
    *throughout The Book of Matthew, hear all the times Jesus says “Truly”.
    What He says, happened, or He Promised to Happen. Truly.

    *Peter would deny, be broken, and BE Restored!

    “Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.” And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again. Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭36‬-‭46‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    *Jesus prepared for The Sacrifice.
    *Every step of the way. Prophecy being revealed.

    “When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    *This was where Jesus gathered with The Disciples.
    *Gethsemane - Oil Press. Jesus came to BE Pressed!
    *Jesus is Beyond Sorrowful. So strong. Preparing. Starting to die.
    *What Jesus is going through. In His Humanity, He is Understanding what is going to happen. The point of separation in humanity’s sin. Completely alone.

    “And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV
    *all of this was meant to be. Preparation for Sacrifice. Completely!
    *Jesus Fully God, Jesus Fully man. He agrees Completely to this full burden of all the rebellion and sin of humanity. For all Time!

    *““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.””
    ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    *In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed 3 times… Pressing In.
    “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭
    *as oil is pressed. Jesus was pressed. Preparing for Sacrifice.

    *See in Jesus. He calls us to “Abide and Watch” , the Disciples fell asleep.

    Jesus was alone. Denied. Rejected. Alone.
    *In the garden. Jesus took upon Himself. Sin for all of humanity. Sacrifice for all our sin. The wrath of God.

    *Completely Submitted to God on our behalf.
    *Prepared for Sacrifice.

    “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬-‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    *Peter’s Words!….

    “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    *Pauls
    Paul’s Words.

    Now Communion, remember everything Jesus did for all of us
    here’s my Sunday morning notes. This was a really Good one, although the studying is always Good. We’ve been in The Book of Matthew for over 3 years Sunday morning Fellowship. Bless us IN Your Word. Continuing The Book of Matthew chapter 26 Gethsemane - Oil Pressed - Crushed! Agony. Suffering Sacrifice for us. Jesus Suffered, Died and Rose again for all of us. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ BE Ready! Abide and Watch. “Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭34‬-‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *Truly - Amen, “so let it be”. “May it be so” *Jesus knew. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭36‬-‭46‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *Jesus prepared for The Sacrifice. *Every step of the way. Prophecy being revealed. “When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.” ‭‭John‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *This was where Jesus gathered with The Disciples. “And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV *all of this was meant to be. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed 3 times… Pressing In. “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭ *as oil is pressed. And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬-‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *Peter’s Words!…. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬ *Pauls Paul’s Words. • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    MONDAY JULY 27, 2O26.
    "FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, CONTROL YOURSELF!"

    'A person without self-control…’  Proverbs 25:28 NLT

    THE BOY said, ‘He made me do it, Dad. He was nasty to me.’ Attempting to teach his son responsibility, his father replied, ‘Son, you’ve got to learn that you are the guard at the door of your own life. You’re in charge. Nothing gets in or out without your permission.’ That’s a picture of how things work in your spiritual life! ‘A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls’—a defenceless city, because its guard failed to protect it. But what if the enemy is too powerful for you? For God’s people, all warfare is spiritual. Whether you’re tested on the social, financial, emotional or sexual front, the battle must be won spiritually. And the rule in spiritual warfare is: ‘…Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world’ (1 John 4:4). When your personal territory is under assault, you’re never abandoned to your own devices—unless you choose to be. However inadequate you feel, however intimidating the situation looks, no matter how many battles you’ve already lost, the power of the Holy Spirit within you is always adequate to guarantee your victory. What’s the key to releasing that power? 1) ‘…Clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires’ (Romans 13:14 NLT). Invite the Lord to take the wheel and redirect your thoughts. 2) ‘…The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives…self-control…’ (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT). God’s Spirit won’t forcibly control you. But He will enable you to control yourself, resist temptation, master your vulnerability and win the victory.

    MONDAY 27TH JULY, 2026```

    *IT IS THEIR TIME* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:LUKE 22:52-54```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness" (LUKE 22:53).*_

    *The story was told of a university town, where a feared cult leader ran a gang. The gang terrorised students, extorting, bullying, and even injuring others. He was regarded as "untouchable," and his group gained influence - notoriety. He lived large, dressed in designer clothes, and drove expensive cars. However, following a violent incident on campus that involved his group, a major investigation was launched by the authorities. The cult leader was arrested and expelled. His supporters disbanded and fled. Years later, while the students he terrorised built careers, he remained jobless, shunned, and miserable.*

    *The cult leader had his time. So did the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders who came to arrest and humiliate Jesus Christ. He told them, "...this is your hour, and the power of darkness." As these malicious zealots exuded the euphoria of their "exploit" of capturing Jesus, as if He were a robber, He queried them, "Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?" Their rude attitude was unnecessary and a mismatch with Christ's peaceful disposition. They lacked the authority and courage to accost Christ all the time He ministered in the temple and everywhere; but why now? Christ could only rationalise their behaviour and reconcile Himself to it, considering it was their time. It was a time when the power of darkness was permitted to do its worst, which would eventually redound to God's purpose - and to humanity's redemption.*

    *We often witness the "triumphing of the wicked," where dubious individuals exploit the political space, misuse power, and afflict the righteous. We find people "prospering" in business by cutting corners and through corruption. People gain fame and fortune by adopting perverted lifestyles and performances. We live in a time when evil is called good, and good evil - all to the frustration of the righteous. There is even a rise in the active persecution of Christians around the world. But we should be comforted by the submission of our Lord: it is their time. Consider also that "the triumphing of the wicked is short..." (Job 20:5).*

    *If you are a true follower of Christ, keep walking with Him. Do not be dismayed by the attitudes and actions of the worldly. The temporary humiliation of Christ resulted in eternal honour and our redemption. Our present frustrations will soon result in permanent favour.*

    *In the mid-1800s, Kgosi Sechele I, a tribal chief of the Bakwena people in today's Botswana, held great power as a rainmaker. The people trusted him for their crops, herds, and survival. But everything changed when Sechele met Scottish missionary Dr. David Livingstone.*

    *Livingstone introduced him to the message of the God, not made by human hands, not found in charms or rituals, but a God who created the heavens and the earth, just like Paul preached in Athens. But after months of learning, praying, and soul-searching, Sechele decided to follow Jesus Christ. In 1848, he was baptized.*

    *It is not surprising that we find youths today, out of fear, engaging in superstitious and occult practices which put them in bondage to Satan despite available freedom in Christ. Such youths will incur God's wrath if they don't repent, renounce the occult practices and surrender to Christ.*

    *True children of God must put their trust in God alone. In Christ, we are complete, and all our needs are provided if we pray with faith and believe in Him.*

    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Deuteronomy 31:6).*_
    *Sometimes, we may feel afraid or alone, but we can always trust that God is with us. No matter where we are or how we feel, He never leaves our side and is always ready to comfort and protect us.*
    One night, James was scared of sleeping in his new room because it was so dark and quiet. His mom reminded him that God is always with Him, even when he feels alone. He prayed and asked God to help him feel safe. As he laid down, he remembered that God would never leave him no matter what. James fell asleep peacefully knowing that God was watching over him.
    *God is always with us, and we can trust Him to never leave us, even when we are afraid or lonely. When we trust God, He will see us through the troubles and challenges of life. No matter what we face, we can rely on His presence to comfort us, give us strength, and guide us. God's love and care are constant, and He is always there to help us overcome our fears and difficulties.*
    *GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY OVER TIMING*
    *TEXT:* LUKE 22: 52-54.
    52.Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
    53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
    54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
    *Timeless Truth:*_"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it"_ (1 Corinthians 10:13).
    *INTRODUCTION*
    Do you know that God has His own time table for every event in your life? *"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"* (Ecclesiastics 3:1). Is it possible to miss God's timing for some events in your life? Israel refused to cooperate with God and they got themselves king Saul through pressure and desire to be like other nations. Had they waited for God's timing for them before they started having kings, the tragedies they faced, as a nation, due to the reign of King Saul would have been avoided. Saul himself would not have been king. God has His own timing for the coming of the Messiah. He came. But Israel, through unbelief, missed the divine timing and were blinded from recognizing their Messiah. They will remain in that state of blindness till the Second Coming of Christ. Missing God's timing is very costly in every respect. God is never late, neither is He ever early. He works according to His perfect timetable. The arrest of Jesus Christ, though pathetic, was not a triumph of evil over good, but the fulfilment of God's eternal purpose and timing. Though wicked men thought they had taken control of events, they were only carrying out what God had already permitted within His sovereign plan. Believers must therefore, trust God's timing even when circumstances appear confusing or unfavourable, knowing that nothing happens outside His knowledge and authority.
    *1. The Arrest of the Omnipotent by the Destroyers*
    a. Jesus questioned the chief priests, captains of the temple and elders, asking why they came against Him with swords and clubs as though He were a dangerous criminal. Ironically, they attempted to arrest the One who has all powers -the Omnipotent God. How could mortals use swords and staves to arrest the One who is Omnipotent and Omniscience except God Himself permitted it? Their conspiracy and arrest did not come to Jesus by surprise. Jesus knew it would happen and that the timing was then, but they were ignorant of this fact. Their hatred blinded them to His identity, yet they could not lay hands on Him until the appointed hour arrived. This reminds us that no enemy can frustrate God's purpose or act beyond His permission. Human opposition may seem powerful, but God's sovereign plan always prevails.
    b. Believers do face difficult times like trials, temptations, tempests and tough times. It is not because the enemy is so powerful, but rather God allowed it and has a reason for it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 shows that God moderates all those tough times to be within the limits of the power and grace of God deposited and available for the specific believers.
    Like the popular song writer wrote: "He knows the bitter, weary way, The endless striving day by day, The souls that weep, the souls that pray; My Father knows, my Father knows".
    *Question*
    Do I recognize that God is fully aware of the tough times I am passing through and it is by His permission?
    *2. The Allowed Operation by the Divine*
    b. Jesus declared, *"This is your hour, and the power of darkness."* Satan and his agents were permitted to operate, but only for a limited time. God did not lose control; He simply allowed their actions to accomplish His redemptive purpose through the cross. Every trial, persecution or apparent victory of evil has a divine limit. God's permission is never His abandonment and His sovereign purpose will ultimately bring glory to His name and victory to His children.
    b. Both the problems and the promises of believers have God's own timing of fulfilment or manifestation. Jesus moved freely in the temple and in the Jewish streets for about three years and nobody could touch Him because it was not yet God's time for Him to be arrested. Ability to recognize God's plan and His timing is the surest path of peaceful and joyful living at all times. *"For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come"* (Habakkuk 2:3). The same is true with the vision of the Rapture, the Second Coming of Christ etc. God is moderating all events to fit into His timing. Don't run ahead of God, ask for a revelation of His time and patiently wait for His time. *"For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry"* (Hebrews 10:37).
    *Question*
    Can I patiently trust God's sovereignty when He allows temporary trials or the seeming success of evil?
    *3. The Afar-Off Disciple*
    Peter's fall and denial of Jesus did not happen overnight. It started with self confidence when he did not take the warnings of Jesus about His betrayal very seriously. This self confidence affected him that he did not draw from the river of grace when Jesus asked him to join Him in prayers at the Garden of Gethsemane. He slept off throughout. He later resorted to carnality by cutting off the ear of someone in defence of Jesus. The next phase of his backsliding was when he started following Jesus "afar off". After Jesus was arrested, Peter followed "afar off." Fear and uncertainty caused him to keep a safe distance from the Lord. Times of testing often reveal the depth of our commitment. When God's timing differs from our expectations, we may be tempted to withdraw from close fellowship with Christ. However, believers are called to remain faithful and confident that God's timing is always perfect, even when we do not fully understand His ways. When you follow Jesus afar off, your Quiet Time will be mechanical, your love for fellowship will just turn into an unpleasant routine. The end result is that you prefer moving closer with unbelievers than true, genuine and fervent believers. That was the case of Peter and eventually, he fell.
    *Question*
    Am I following Christ closely in difficult times, or have fear and disappointment caused me to keep my distance from Him? Are you an "afar off" disciple?
    *Prayer Points*
    1.Father, help me to trust Your perfect timing and sovereign control over every situation in my life .
    2.Lord, strengthen my faith to remain steadfast when You permit trials for Your greater purpose .
    3.Father, deliver me from fear and help me to follow Christ closely in every season of life .
    4.Lord, visit all those members following you "afar off" and bring them to the deeper love of Jesus.
    Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. ⏤ Matthew 6:10
    In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. ⏤ John Bunyan
    Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. May Your kingdom come. May Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. This is our prayer this morning. We want Your kingdom to come fully into our hearts so that everything in us submits to Your rule. We want You to be the King of our lives, seated on the throne of our hearts, ruling over our affections, feelings, and desires. So we pray that Your kingdom may come in our lives. May everything in us that opposes You be brought into submission. May our ways that are not right be changed to align with Your holy ways.
    Sometimes we get frustrated and upset when things don't go our way, when our work is hard, or when our plans don't succeed as we hoped. Father, forgive us for our discontent and rebellion. We know You are training us and that we are in Your school all the time. We know that when we complain and get upset about our circumstances, we not only grieve You but also hinder Your work in us. Help us to humbly submit to all Your ways and learn well the lesson of submission and trust in Your sovereign plan for us. We want to be truly able to say, "May Your will be done." Give us the grace to say it every day and every hour. Help us to look up to You . . .
    when the path is rough,
    when the tasks are hard,
    when it hurts us to go on—
    and to say with love, "Not my will, but Yours be done."
    We commit ourselves to You for the day. It may not bring us all sunshine, gladness, and ease. It may have clouds, pain, and hardship. But, Father, we want to make it a sweet, beautiful day—whether it is bright or dark. Give us much of Your Spirit, and may we live close to You all day. We ask all this in Jesus' precious name. Amen.
As these malicious zealots exuded the euphoria of their "exploit" of capturing Jesus, as if He were a robber, He queried them, "Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?" Their rude attitude was unnecessary and a mismatch with Christ's peaceful disposition. They lacked the authority and courage to accost Christ all the time He ministered in the temple and everywhere; but why now? Christ could only rationalise their behaviour and reconcile Himself to it, considering it was their time. It was a time when the power of darkness was permitted to do its worst, which would eventually redound to God's purpose - and to humanity's redemption.* *We often witness the "triumphing of the wicked," where dubious individuals exploit the political space, misuse power, and afflict the righteous. We find people "prospering" in business by cutting corners and through corruption. People gain fame and fortune by adopting perverted lifestyles and performances. We live in a time when evil is called good, and good evil - all to the frustration of the righteous. There is even a rise in the active persecution of Christians around the world. But we should be comforted by the submission of our Lord: it is their time. Consider also that "the triumphing of the wicked is short..." (Job 20:5).* *If you are a true follower of Christ, keep walking with Him. Do not be dismayed by the attitudes and actions of the worldly. The temporary humiliation of Christ resulted in eternal honour and our redemption. Our present frustrations will soon result in permanent favour.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Believer, benchmark not with unbelievers - they're in a different race.*_ 📜📜```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *EXODUS 37-38*📜📜 It Is Their Time https://dailymanna.app// *RECOMMENDED GOSPEL HYMNS AND SONGS - GHS 77: I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS; GHS 79: THE WAY OF THE CROSS LEADS HOME; AND GHS 89: O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED* *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#DailyManna27thJuly2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS] [26/07, 10:30 pm] Pastor Attah: ```DEEPER CHRISTIAN LIFE MINISTRY``` _*HIGHER EVERYD🅰️Y: (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR YOUTHS)*_ ✍🏽👩🏻‍💼🌻 🍇🙏🏽🛰🚀🔬📚 ```MONDAY 27TH JULY, 2026``` *OVERCOMING SUPERSTITION* 🎚️📓📖🫵🏽🙋🏽‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️🧜🏽‍♂️🧞⚠️‼️🛑❌🧎🏽🧎🏽‍♀️🙏🏽 📜📜```TEXT:ACTS 17:22-31```📜📜 📖``` MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious" (ACTS 17:22).*_ *In the mid-1800s, Kgosi Sechele I, a tribal chief of the Bakwena people in today's Botswana, held great power as a rainmaker. And Peter followed afar off. *Timeless Truth:*_"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it"_ (1 Corinthians 10:13). *INTRODUCTION* Do you know that God has His own time table for every event in your life? *"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"* (Ecclesiastics 3:1). Is it possible to miss God's timing for some events in your life? Israel refused to cooperate with God and they got themselves king Saul through pressure and desire to be like other nations. Had they waited for God's timing for them before they started having kings, the tragedies they faced, as a nation, due to the reign of King Saul would have been avoided. Saul himself would not have been king. God has His own timing for the coming of the Messiah. He came. But Israel, through unbelief, missed the divine timing and were blinded from recognizing their Messiah. They will remain in that state of blindness till the Second Coming of Christ. Missing God's timing is very costly in every respect. God is never late, neither is He ever early. He works according to His perfect timetable. The arrest of Jesus Christ, though pathetic, was not a triumph of evil over good, but the fulfilment of God's eternal purpose and timing. Though wicked men thought they had taken control of events, they were only carrying out what God had already permitted within His sovereign plan. Believers must therefore, trust God's timing even when circumstances appear confusing or unfavourable, knowing that nothing happens outside His knowledge and authority. *1. The Arrest of the Omnipotent by the Destroyers* a. Jesus questioned the chief priests, captains of the temple and elders, asking why they came against Him with swords and clubs as though He were a dangerous criminal. Ironically, they attempted to arrest the One who has all powers -the Omnipotent God. How could mortals use swords and staves to arrest the One who is Omnipotent and Omniscience except God Himself permitted it? Their conspiracy and arrest did not come to Jesus by surprise. Jesus knew it would happen and that the timing was then, but they were ignorant of this fact. Their hatred blinded them to His identity, yet they could not lay hands on Him until the appointed hour arrived. This reminds us that no enemy can frustrate God's purpose or act beyond His permission. Human opposition may seem powerful, but God's sovereign plan always prevails. b. Believers do face difficult times like trials, temptations, tempests and tough times. It is not because the enemy is so powerful, but rather God allowed it and has a reason for it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 shows that God moderates all those tough times to be within the limits of the power and grace of God deposited and available for the specific believers. Like the popular song writer wrote: "He knows the bitter, weary way, The endless striving day by day, The souls that weep, the souls that pray; My Father knows, my Father knows". *Question* Do I recognize that God is fully aware of the tough times I am passing through and it is by His permission? *2. The Allowed Operation by the Divine* b. Jesus declared, *"This is your hour, and the power of darkness."* Satan and his agents were permitted to operate, but only for a limited time. God did not lose control; He simply allowed their actions to accomplish His redemptive purpose through the cross. Every trial, persecution or apparent victory of evil has a divine limit. God's permission is never His abandonment and His sovereign purpose will ultimately bring glory to His name and victory to His children. b. Both the problems and the promises of believers have God's own timing of fulfilment or manifestation. Jesus moved freely in the temple and in the Jewish streets for about three years and nobody could touch Him because it was not yet God's time for Him to be arrested. Ability to recognize God's plan and His timing is the surest path of peaceful and joyful living at all times. *"For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come"* (Habakkuk 2:3). The same is true with the vision of the Rapture, the Second Coming of Christ etc. God is moderating all events to fit into His timing. Don't run ahead of God, ask for a revelation of His time and patiently wait for His time. *"For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry"* (Hebrews 10:37). *Question* Can I patiently trust God's sovereignty when He allows temporary trials or the seeming success of evil? *3. The Afar-Off Disciple* Peter's fall and denial of Jesus did not happen overnight. It started with self confidence when he did not take the warnings of Jesus about His betrayal very seriously. This self confidence affected him that he did not draw from the river of grace when Jesus asked him to join Him in prayers at the Garden of Gethsemane. He slept off throughout. He later resorted to carnality by cutting off the ear of someone in defence of Jesus. The next phase of his backsliding was when he started following Jesus "afar off". After Jesus was arrested, Peter followed "afar off." Fear and uncertainty caused him to keep a safe distance from the Lord. Times of testing often reveal the depth of our commitment. When God's timing differs from our expectations, we may be tempted to withdraw from close fellowship with Christ. However, believers are called to remain faithful and confident that God's timing is always perfect, even when we do not fully understand His ways. When you follow Jesus afar off, your Quiet Time will be mechanical, your love for fellowship will just turn into an unpleasant routine. The end result is that you prefer moving closer with unbelievers than true, genuine and fervent believers. That was the case of Peter and eventually, he fell. *Question* Am I following Christ closely in difficult times, or have fear and disappointment caused me to keep my distance from Him? Are you an "afar off" disciple? *Prayer Points* 1.Father, help me to trust Your perfect timing and sovereign control over every situation in my life 🙏. 2.Lord, strengthen my faith to remain steadfast when You permit trials for Your greater purpose 🙏. 3.Father, deliver me from fear and help me to follow Christ closely in every season of life 🙏. 4.Lord, visit all those members following you "afar off" and bring them to the deeper love of Jesus🙏. *HYMN:* My Father Knows. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 37-38. Morning Prayer for today. MP.i. Morning Prayer Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. ⏤ Matthew 6:10 In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. ⏤ John Bunyan Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. May Your kingdom come. May Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. This is our prayer this morning. We want Your kingdom to come fully into our hearts so that everything in us submits to Your rule. We want You to be the King of our lives, seated on the throne of our hearts, ruling over our affections, feelings, and desires. So we pray that Your kingdom may come in our lives. May everything in us that opposes You be brought into submission. May our ways that are not right be changed to align with Your holy ways. Sometimes we get frustrated and upset when things don't go our way, when our work is hard, or when our plans don't succeed as we hoped. Father, forgive us for our discontent and rebellion. We know You are training us and that we are in Your school all the time. We know that when we complain and get upset about our circumstances, we not only grieve You but also hinder Your work in us. Help us to humbly submit to all Your ways and learn well the lesson of submission and trust in Your sovereign plan for us. We want to be truly able to say, "May Your will be done." Give us the grace to say it every day and every hour. Help us to look up to You . . . when the path is rough, when the tasks are hard, when it hurts us to go on— and to say with love, "Not my will, but Yours be done." We commit ourselves to You for the day. It may not bring us all sunshine, gladness, and ease. It may have clouds, pain, and hardship. But, Father, we want to make it a sweet, beautiful day—whether it is bright or dark. Give us much of Your Spirit, and may we live close to You all day. We ask all this in Jesus' precious name. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/22/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.
    A Prayer For Glory
    Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
    John 17:1b-2
    We have reached the climax of the Upper Room Discourse as we look at the prayer with which our Lord concludes. It is one of the most profound passages in the New Testament. It has been called the holy of holies of Scripture, and volumes have been written about this one chapter alone. Our Lord and His disciples had left the upper room and were making their way into the shadows of Gethsemane's garden. It was here that our Lord began His prayer. He prayed aloud in order that the disciples might hear what He had to say to the Father.
    Jesus' first request is that He might be glorified. If we prayed that we would be exalted or magnified or glorified in order that the world might see how important we were, it would be a selfish request. But our Lord immediately adds, that your Son may glorify you. So the ultimate end of His request for glory is that the Father may be glorified.
    This is always the ultimate purpose for all existence: that it might glorify God. Glorifying means to manifest or display a person's hidden virtue or wisdom or power or beauty, to bring out that which is hidden away in him or her. And here our Lord is asking that He be glorified, that things hidden in Him might now be made manifest in order that He in turn might manifest the beauty and the glory and the wisdom of the Father.
    Our Lord now tells us why He needs this additional glory. The Father had already glorified Him and would glorify Him again in His death. But the Lord is looking on beyond the cross. And He needs additional glory for the reason he gives in verse 2: For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. He needs it in order to fulfill the additional work that was given to Him--that of giving eternal life to all whom God had called.
    Our Lord is pointing out that in His resurrection and ascension, He will have power over all flesh. As He Himself said just before He ascended to the Father, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me (Matthew 28:18b). The writer of Hebrews says that the Son upholds the universe by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). So here it is evident that Jesus is aware He is Lord over the entire universe.
    Jesus is Lord, whether people know it or not. He controls all the events of history and all the ordinary events of our circumstances. This is what our Lord means when He says here that He has power over all flesh, over all the nations. All the events of history and those reported in our newspapers have been allowed by the Lord as He regulates and runs the affairs of earth, in order to give eternal life to all those whom God has given Him.
    I bow before you, Lord Jesus, as the One who has been given all authority in heaven and earth.
    The Gospel From Calvary
    MONDAY 20TH JULY, 2026
    THE NIGHT HE WAS BETRAYED
    ```TEXT: MATTHEW 26:36-46```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt" (MATTHEW 26:39).
    Matthew 26 takes us from the upper room to Gethsemane. The same chapter where bread was broken and the cup was shared is the same night He was betrayed with a kiss. Judas sold Him for thirty pieces of silver. Peter swore he would never deny Him. But Jesus pressed into the garden alone. He fell on His face, sweat like blood, and prayed the prayer that saved the world: “Not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Calvary was won first in Gethsemane.
    Three truths from that night: One, the cup He drank was our cup. “Let this cup pass from me.” What cup? Not just whips and nails, but the cup of God’s wrath against sin. At Calvary, He drank the hell we deserved so we could drink the grace we never deserved. Two, surrender precedes victory. “Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” The battle of the Cross was won by surrender. Adam said “My will” in a garden and lost us. Christ said “Thy will” in a garden and saved us. Three, He watches when we sleep. “What, could ye not watch with me one hour?” The disciples slept, but Jesus prayed. Even now, when your flesh is weak, your Intercessor is awake. He prayed through that night so He could pay for you the next day.
    Have you ever felt betrayed, abandoned, or alone in prayer? Jesus has been there. The garden reminds you He knows your night. Will you also say today, “Not my will, but Thine”? The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you — Gethsemane proves it leads to Calvary, and Calvary leads to resurrection.
    ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` Victory at Calvary started with surrender in Gethsemane.
