    Prayer And Preparedness
But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

    Nehemiah 4:9
The enemy mobilizes its forces, escalating the attack, and begins to plan direct violence. When you begin to move with God to change things in your life for the better, you will find that you are met first with derision, and if you keep persisting, someone is going to get very upset with you and attack you in a vicious, perhaps physical, way.

But see how Nehemiah reacts, He still relies on prayer (Nehemiah 4:9). But he does more than pray. He posts a guard as well. Prayer and preparedness! This blending of the resources of the spiritual life with those of the material world is a marvelous picture of how believers ought to face threats, recognizing that we need action on both levels.

Still the enemy persists, and he launches a propaganda campaign. There was an enormous amount of debris and broken stones that had to be cleared away before they could get to the walls. It must have been very discouraging.

The enemy immediately takes advantage of that weakness and discouragement (Nehemiah 4:11). Have you ever faced something like that? Were you ever threatened at work when you tried to correct an immoral or illegal practice that was being carried on around you? Perhaps someone said to you, Keep that up, and you may lose your job here. You may have been threatened with demotion or with eviction from your apartment. You may even have been invited out in the parking lot to face a physical attack. These kinds of things are possible when we begin to right wrongs.

Nehemiah's response is very deliberate. First, he carefully looks over the situation and evaluates what is needed. This approach is necessary if we are going to improve our own lives. We must observe exactly where we are under attack. What are we addicted to? A wrong habit, a drug, an attitude of mind? Bitterness of spirit? When we have identified the source of attack, we must post a guard at that point.

Then, second, Nehemiah reviews the spiritual resources available to them. They had a power at work in their lives that their enemies knew nothing about. The great and awesome God who was with them would stand with them in their peril. When they remembered this, they became reassured and renewed in courage. The enemy saw that they could achieve nothing with their attacks.

One of my favorite passages of the New Testament is found in Paul's second letter to Timothy. Paul is a prisoner in Rome, and Timothy, a rather timid young man, is all alone and feeling discouraged in the great pagan city of Ephesus. The great apostle writes to him this word of advice: Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead (2 Timothy 2:8). Timothy was not alone. God was with him. Jesus is risen! He is awesome. He is strong. He is powerful. Reckon upon Him, and you will be able to stand against the most subtle temptation and the most dangerous threats that come against you.

Thank You, Father, for how practical and helpful the Scriptures are. Teach me to rely on You both in prayer and preparedness.

  • Chapter Two: The Noble Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing and Calling It Faith

‎"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." — Proverbs 14:12, and again in 16:25, because apparently we needed a divine echo.

‎Now, isn't that just the most perfectly ironic verse in all of Scripture? It appears twice, almost word for word, as if the Author of the book knew we'd need the reminder. He knew we'd read it once, nod sagely with that "Amen, preach it, Solomon" expression, and then immediately proceed to do exactly the thing it warns against. It's as though God is saying, "I told you once, and you forgot. So here it is again, in bold, with an exclamation mark you can hear from heaven to earth." It's the biblical equivalent of a parent saying, "I'm not going to tell you again," except God actually does tell us again, because He knows His children are thick-headed enough to need a second dose. The book of Proverbs: divinely inspired, and also the original "per my last email."

‎There is a way that seems right. Oh, indeed. It feels so wonderfully, deliciously right. It feels so comfortable. It feels like sliding into a warm bath after a long day of pretending to be holy. And comfort, my friends, is often the final confirmation that you are sitting in a trap. The most dangerous cage is the one that feels like a recliner. You don't realize you're imprisoned because you're too busy appreciating the lumbar support. The devil doesn't always build dungeons; sometimes he builds day spas. And we walk in, lay down our towel of discernment, and order a cucumber water of complacency.

‎In the grand pursuit of truth, in the earnest, sometimes breathless craving to end this wretched business of sin, man has failed to realize the most elementary fact: he has completely neglected his own role in the pursuit. He has outsourced his holiness like a tech company sending customer service to a distant call center. His eyes are wide open, but they are fixed entirely in the wrong direction—staring, unblinking, at what God has supposedly done to perfect him, as if he's waiting for a cosmic Amazon delivery of sanctification. He checks the tracking number daily. "Your package—'Complete Freedom from Envy'—is out for delivery. Estimated arrival: any moment now, just after the Second Coming." He sits there, arms folded, perched on the throne of his own expectations, arrogantly judging how far God has reached in the project of saving him, like a foreman watching a construction crew. "Hmm, not quite finished yet, Lord. Still got that temper problem. I specifically requested the 'gentleness' add-on. When's the next update? Also, the 'patience' feature seems to be glitching, especially in traffic." He hopes to wake up one fine morning and—BOOM!—be surprised and astonished, leaping out of bed shouting, "Wow! I'm holy! I no longer envy, I no longer hate, I no longer bra-bra-bra... whatever that is!" and then dance off into a sinless afternoon, probably tripping over his slippers because he hasn't actually practiced holy coordination. He expects a spiritual lightning bolt, but what he's really waiting for is a divine anesthesia: put him to sleep as a sinner, wake him up as a saint, no recovery time needed. The only thing missing is the hospital gown and the little paper bracelet.

‎Let me be very honest with you: it will sincerely be a wake-up, because you are, at present, sound asleep. You're not resting in faith; you're hibernating in delusion. But I would rather like to wake you up before the Bridegroom arrives and finds you snoring, before the surprise is not holiness but death. The five foolish virgins in Matthew 25 would like a word, except they can't—they're outside the door, frantically Googling "late-night oil vendors near me" and getting no results because the marketplace closed hours ago. Because here is the uncomfortable diamond of truth: though God's grace is indeed the foundation, the ground floor, the whole electrical grid, human effort is the essential, non-negotiable, roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-sweaty response. Grace is the river, but you still have to swim. And some of us are standing on the bank, reciting poetry about water, composing haikus about the beauty of H2O molecules, waiting to turn into fish. Spoiler alert: you won't. You'll just be a very poetic, very dry human, eventually eaten by a bear who appreciates irony.

‎There is a comfortable, popular, and terribly seductive idea that has lulled multitudes into a deep and dangerous sleep. It is a spiritual lullaby, a theological narcotic, the melatonin of the modern church. It whispers, ever so gently, "Freedom from sin is entirely God's work. Your only role is to believe that it is done. Any effort of your own is a sign of weak faith. Just relax. Just surrender. Just... do absolutely nothing, and if you feel bad about doing nothing, just remember that even feeling bad is you trying to work, so stop that too." It's the doctrine of sanctification by spiritual narcolepsy. Doesn't that sound lovely? It sounds like a gospel of rest. It sounds like the kind of thing you'd embroider on a cushion and then take a nap on—a very long nap, perhaps the longest, right through the wedding feast while the door is locked. But wait a moment. Weren't these the very same comforting words that the five foolish virgins must have whispered to one another while the wise ones were out, sweating and labouring to fill their flasks?

‎I can see them now, the five foolish ones, lounging outside the wedding venue, their tiny lamps flickering with the pathetic flame of bare-minimum preparedness. One of them turns to the others, adjusts her "Let Go and Let God" headband, and says, "Don't worry, girls. My faith is strong. I have deeply believed that this little splash of oil is more than enough. After all, the Bridegroom wouldn't want us to be striving, would He? That would be so... ungracious. So works-based. So Old Covenant. We're under grace now, which means we sit here and look pretty while the oil multiplies by divine fiat." And the others nod, their faces serene with the peace that passes all misunderstanding, the kind of peace you get from skipping the hard parts. One of them even closes her eyes and starts humming a worship song, completely off-key, but it's the heart that matters, right? Meanwhile, the wise five are out in the marketplace, negotiating prices, hauling heavy jars, probably breaking a sweat and ruining their wedding makeup, but securing the fuel. They're not there being spiritual; they're there being practical, which is apparently the true mark of wisdom. They didn't expect the oil to teleport into their lamps by faith; they expected to carry it. The foolish believed their faith was enough to magically make a thimble of oil burn through the entire night—an entire night! That's not faith; that's a rejection of basic physics dressed up as theology. The wise understood the gritty partnership: the oil was a gift, yes, but they had to go get it, carry it, and pour it. Grace doesn't fill your lamp while you nap; grace made the oil available, but your legs still need to walk to the store.

‎I must tell you plainly, because someone has to, and the people who usually do have been fired from the pulpit for being "too negative": that do-nothing view is not just incomplete. It is a masterpiece of deception, a beautifully baited trap with a sign on it that reads, "Welcome to Liberty Hall: Leave Your Responsibility at the Door. Complimentary Slippers Provided. No Heavy Lifting Required." It leaves men wrapped in chains while they dance about, celebrating an imaginary freedom, clanking with every step and calling the noise "a joyful sound unto the Lord." They've turned their prison into a praise party. They've decorated the cell with Bible verses about liberty while the door remains locked, and they've thrown away the key because "God will open the door if He wants to; I'm not going to force it, that would be striving." The Apostle Paul said, "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you" (Philippians 2:12-13). Notice he didn't say, "Take a nap in your own hammock, for it is God who will tuck you in." Work out what God works in. That's a partnership. That's a divine-human joint venture. But we'd rather dissolve the company and wait for a heavenly bailout

    WEDNESDAY JUNE 17, 2026

    NOT IN UNWORTHINESS

    A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"For I received from the LORD what I passed on to you: The LORD Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said 'This is my body, which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me: In the same way, after supper, he took the cup, saying,' This cup is the new testament in my blood, do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me' For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the LORD’s death until he comes. Therefore, whoever eats bread or drinks the cup of the LORD in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and the blood of the LORD." 1 Corinthians 11:23-27 NIV.

From the context of our foundational Scripture, Paul, the apostle, by the Holy Spirit's inspiration is laying emphasis on the importance of considering your personal conduct and relationship with God before you take part in the LORD's Supper. The need for a thorough self-examination and self-preparation that calls for an attitude of reverence, sincerity, humility and preparedness to receive the grace that is embedded in the ordained sacred act.

In the course of this self-examination in preparation of the LORD's Supper, there's every need for you to:

1). Know the reason for such - it is a remembrance of the LORD: bread - His body, cup - His blood. This is in itself a proclamation of the sacrificial and vicarious death of Christ Jesus.

2). No heaven-minded child of God can afford to partake on the LORD’s Supper in an unworthy manner because it presages mortal danger - sin against the LORD.
Unworthiness has everything to do with the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 4:4, 26). There should not be for you, a child of God, "more of me, and less of Jesus."

    PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, may I not be held responsible for Your death due to my actions and inactions. Help me to thoroughly examine myself before partaking in Your sacredly ordained act of remembrance.

    FURTHER READING:

    1 Samuel 7:2-4; Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 4:4, 26.

  • BIBLE TEXT: John 14:1–6
    TOPIC:
HEAVEN IS PREPARED FOR PREPARED PEOPLE

    THE INTRODUCTION:
In John 14:1–6, Jesus comforted His disciples before His departure by assuring them that He was going to prepare a place for them in His Father's house. This promise reveals that heaven is a real place prepared by Christ for those who are ready to meet Him. While heaven is prepared by Jesus, believers must also prepare their hearts and lives through faith, obedience, and holy living. Therefore, heaven is prepared for prepared people.

    1. HEAVEN IS A PREPARED PLACE.
Key Verse: John 14:2 – "I go to prepare a place for you."
Jesus personally promised to prepare an eternal home for His followers. Heaven is not imaginary; it is a real and glorious dwelling place designed by God.

Sub-point: Christ's Preparation Demonstrates His Love.

Jesus' preparation of heaven shows His deep love and concern for believers. He desires that His people spend eternity with Him.

    2. PREPARED PEOPLE KEEP THEIR FOCUS ON CHRIST.
Key Verse: John 14:1 – "Believe in God; believe also in me."
The journey to heaven begins with genuine faith in Jesus Christ. Trusting Him as Savior and Lord is the foundation of eternal life.

Sub-point: Faith Removes Fear and Uncertainty

Those who trust Christ can face life's challenges and even death with confidence because their future is secure in Him.

    3. PREPARED PEOPLE LIVE IN OBEDIENCE TO GOD.
Key Verse: John 14:6 – "I am the way, the truth, and the life."
Following Christ involves more than believing; it requires daily obedience to His teachings and submission to His will.

Sub-point: Holy Living Reflects Readiness for Heaven

A life characterized by righteousness, integrity, and devotion to God demonstrates spiritual preparedness for eternity.

    4. PREPARED PEOPLE FOLLOW the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.
Key Verse: John 14:6 – "No one comes to the Father except through me."
Jesus clearly declared Himself as the only way to the Father. Salvation cannot be found through human effort, religion, or good works alone.

    Sub-point: Accepting Christ Is Essential

Every person must personally receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to enter the heavenly home He has prepared.

    THE CONCLUSION.
Jesus has already prepared a place in heaven for His followers, but only those who are spiritually prepared will enter it. Preparation involves trusting Christ, obeying His Word, living a holy life, and following Him as the only way to the Father. The question is not whether heaven is prepared—it is. The real question is whether we are prepared for heaven.

    QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
    1. Am I fully trusting Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord?
    2. What evidence in my life shows that I am preparing for eternity?
    3. Are there areas of disobedience that I need to surrender to God?
    4. How does the promise of heaven influence my daily decisions?
    5. If Jesus returned today, would I be ready to meet Him?

Memory Verse: John 14:6 – "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (KJV)

  • Good evening, brethren.
    1. Evening devotion for today.

    ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    THURSDAY 4TH JUNE, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    EXAMPLES OF GOD'S AMAZING GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    THE PRODIGAL SON.

    *TEXT:*
    LUKE 15:11-32.
    11. Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons.
    12. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
    13. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.
    14. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.
    15. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.
    16. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
    17. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!
    18. I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
    19. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’
    20. So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
    21. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
    22. “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
    23. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.
    24. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
    25. “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing.
    26. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on.
    27. ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’
    28. “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.
    29. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.
    30. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
    31. ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.
    32. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

    *TOPIC:*
    THE PRODIGAL SON.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
The story of the prodigal son is a touching example of God's grace. The younger son asked for a share of his father's estate. Although it is culturally wrong, the father obliged. The son left home and squandered his inheritance. While in abject poverty, he decided to return home to be a servant. However, his father embraced and restored this arrogant, disrespectful, greedy, and wayward son. What a demonstration of grace! Many families are grappling with prodigality on different levels, such as truancy, addiction, stubbornness, sexual perversion, and so on. Parents, forgive and restore your wayward children. Child, are you self-seeking and rebellious? Do not hit rock bottom before you return home. Rise and run to the open arms of God, who is willing to welcome you.

    *REFLECTION:*
Do not lose sight of your heavenly home.

    *PRAYER:*
    Father, forgive my waywardness. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    JOHN 1:16.
"From the fulness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another."

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*

Now is the time and the hour to awake from our sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
    Romans 13:11

    Time is Short

Every day that passes is a day closer to the return of the Lord Jesus for His church. The Lord’s return is imminent and each day it gets a little closer than the day before. Time is short and we need to be awake, alert, ready and prepared to meet our Saviour.. but should we try to work out the day of His return to take us to be with Himself?

    Date-Setting

Should we search out a likely date of His coming on which to pin our expectations? Should we take note of the speculations, theories, dreams or visions of others? Are we to trawl biblical prophecy, extra-biblical writings or the news to discover a date? No! for lying prophets abound pretending to have additional revelation from God. We are not to try to date-set, but we are to recognise the season is fast approaching.

    Return of Christ

For 2000 years the return of Christ for His saints has been imminent, and it still is. Christ’s return is fast approaching. Each day it gets a little closer than the day before. His return is closer than it was last year, last month, last week or even yesterday, The return of Jesus is nearer than the day on which we first trusted Him as Saviour. As Paul told the Romans, “now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.”

    Preparation

But how should we prepare for the return of the Lord, what should we be doing? Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

    Be Ready

In this challenging verse, the writer uses the lovely word exhort, which is to encourage. We are to encourage others to be awake, alert, ready and prepared to meet our Lord – prepared all-day; any-day; every-day – for our salvation is drawing ever closer.

    Soon Return

Just as God’s Spirit comes alongside to exhort us, we are to do the same for others.. we are to exhort, to encourage, to urge and become united in hope, one with another. When two or three are met together in His name, we should talk of His soon return. We are to draw near and meet with other believers, exhorting and encouraging, for we are in the season of His return – a season that has lasted 2000 years – and the Lord’s return is closer than when we first believed.

    Faithful Servant

We are to be advocates one for the other – little comforters; trustworthy anchors. We are to draw alongside to support and steady, to balance and even to correct. We are exhorted to exhort other Christians when we meet together in fellowship – particularly in these evil days as the return of the Lord gets ever closer. What a privilege and honour – what a ministry and yet what a responsibility… we have been entrusted to be that good, faithful servant, toward other believers.

    Increasing Urgency

This should also be a time when we examine our own relationship with Jesus. We can scarcely exhort others to be spiritual ready if we are ill-prepared ourselves. We can hardly encourage others towards preparedness if we have become careless. We cannot draw alongside others aright, unless we are in fellowship with the Lord – and the urgency increases as we see the day of His return approaching.

    Distinctive Period

The imminency of Christ’s return for His saints has lasted 2000 years! This was an important fact for the early church; as it has been down the centuries, so why this emphasis on exhortation “..as ye see the day approaching?” Well, Scripture as always is its own best and unique interpreter.. We are instructed of the apostles, that the end is a distinctive period for the Body. The end is to be characterised by unusual pressures and strains for God’s children.

    Increasing Pressures

There is to be a huge increase in satanic activity in the heavenly realms. The enemy knows he has only a short time to achieve his nefarious deeds. The enemy as a roaring lion prowls the earth, seeking whom he may devour. Scripture indicates that the saints of God will become abnormally weary. The Word shows that many believers will be unable to face the increasing pressures. The Spirit warns that Satan’s deliberate act is to wear out the saints.

    Hold Fast

In our society, we recognise many of the attacks he uses to achieve this end. Education, politics, news – unrest, uncertainty disorder and chaos all combine.. and fear of the future and a loss of hope is the inevitable outcome – and lack of faith is the insidious bedfellow of hopelessness and despair… UNLESS… Unless we can hold fast that what is good – hold on to the promises of God. Unless we can trust His Word, which tells us this disorder is only for a season.

    Exhort and Encourage

Oh yes – divide and conquer is a very successful satanic warfare strategy… yet we are instructed how to foil his tactic.. we are to gather together to exhort each other and encourage one another, and so much more, as we see the day approach.

    Spirit and Prayer

Believers may be divided by thousands of miles – separated by land and sea… but we can gather together in love and encouragement – in spirit and in prayer, reminding each other that the time is short and we are to look up. Christ is returning soon and our redemption draws closer with each passing day.

    2. Evejing prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

Thou wilt keep Moses Ishaku in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. ⏤ Isaiah 26:3

Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed. ⏤ James Montgomery

Father, though it’s dark around us, it is always light with You. We come at nightfall to thank You for the day’s mercies and to confess our sins. Blot out every transgression. Wash us, and we shall be whiter than snow. Accept what we bring to You tonight, and let Your blessing be upon it all.

We ask You for Your special peace. We remember Your promise to keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You. We desire to keep our minds stayed on You. You are an everlasting rock. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You are the everlasting Father. Nothing ever disturbs Your security. We would lean . . .
    Our weakness on Your strength,
    Our ignorance on Your wisdom,
Our trembling insecurity on Your unchangeableness.

We would rest in You. Help us to rest in You as birds rest in their nests in the great rock, and not be afraid.

Save us from all fear. We are only little children in this world of danger, but we are safe in You. Help us, therefore, to trust and never be afraid. Cover us with Your sheltering wings. Hold us in the clasp of Your hand—in the embrace of Your everlasting arms. Preserve us from . . .
    The fascinations of the world,
    The assaults of the tempter,
The insidious wickedness of our own hearts.

May You bless our mutual influence as a home. We love each other; may our love grow more tender. Sometimes we fail to show our love, even appearing cold, indifferent, and ungracious. Help us to be kindly affectionate in manner as well as loving in heart.

We pray for our neighbors and friends. May Your grace be upon them.

    Comfort the sorrowful,
    Relieve the distressed,
    Have mercy upon the sinful.

We ask all in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Praise God for His faithfulness in watching over us and bringing us to the middle of the year. Our focus for June is "EXAMPLES OF GOD'S AMAZING GRACE". This month, we will explore how God intervened in the lives of specific individuals, meeting them at their points of need and blessing them beyond their wildest imagination. God reaches out to men and women in love, bringing life even when not warranted. God pours His Grace on people for them to experience a personal and intimate relationship with Him in order for them to avoid eternal damnation. May we open ourselves to receive God's Grace for daily living. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    JOHN 1:16.
"From the fulness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another."

    *DATE:*
    MONDAY 1ST JUNE, 2026

    *TEXT:*
    JOHN 8:1-11.
    1. but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
    2. At dawn He appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around Him, and He sat down to teach them.
    3. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group
    4. and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
    5. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do You say?”
    6. They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing Him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger.
    7. When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
    8. Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
    9. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
    10. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
    11. “No one, Sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

    *TOPIC:*
    THE ADULTEROUS WOMAN.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
According to the law, both parties to adultery should be stoned to death (Lev. 20:10; Deut. 22:22). In our text, the Jewish leaders brought a woman to Jesus whom they said was caught in the act of adultery, but with an ill motive to entrap Jesus.
Why did they not present the man with whom she was committing the act?
Jesus asked them that the one without sin should throw the first stone. They all left one after the other since none of them was sinless. Unlike her accusers, Jesus acted graciously. He did not condemn her; instead, He forgave her, set her free, and urged her to sin no more.
Are you stuck in any sin?
Jesus is always gracious, offering forgiveness and deliverance to those who repent. Repent and be set free today.

    *REFLECTION:*
Jesus took the violence for you and me.

    *PRAYER:*
Thank You Lord, for identifying with me. Amen.

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over His household, to give them meat in due season?”
    Matthew 24:45

    A Faithful Servant

What a lovely picture of the judicious and faithful servant of the Lord. How we all would hope to be like this wise, trustworthy, and dedicated steward. He is to provide spiritual food and nourishment to those entrusted into his care: “Feed my lambs…” John 21:15 He is to feed the little flock, given into His charge with the whole council of God. “Feed my sheep…” John 21:16. He is to give his fellow-servants their portion of food in due season. “Feed my sheep…” John 21:17

    A Blessed Servant

How blessed is this faithful, trustworthy, dedicated servant of the Lord. The Lord Himself tells us: “Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord, when he comes shall find so doing” Luke 12:43. How illuminating it is to reflect on the words of the apostle in Luke 12. Peter asks the Master if He is speaking to the disciples, or the unsaved: “Lord, are you speaking in this parable to us, or to everyone?” Luke 12:41

    Consequences of Worldliness

Only a few verses earlier Christ warned them of the consequences of worldliness – chiding them for their worldly outlook and prompting them to, “lay up treasure in heaven….” for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” Luke 21:34

    Christian Preparedness

Jesus then gives a clear outline of what wise Christian preparedness is. He is the faithful servant – the trustworthy servant that feeds the household of God. He’s the wise steward –who gently nurtures and tends for the little flock in his care. He is the one that feeds the Lord’s lambs and tends the Lord’s sheep. What an incredible privilege and what an awesome and formidable responsibility.

    Necessary Warnings

Taking care of the household of the Lord is vital in these last days. The family or God needs to be fed, cared for, encouraged, uplifted, edified, yet the family of God also needs to be warned.. Whatever the situation in your life and whatever the conditions in mine. We would do well to recognise the favour and duty laid on our shoulders.

    Little Flock

Each of us have a little flock, whom the Lord has entrusted into our care. It may be one tiny little lamb or perhaps a flock of wandering sheep! But each of us have been called upon to tend some part of the masters vineyard. And most have been entrusted into the care of an under-shepherd’ Christ being the Chief Shepherd as well as being our Good, Great Shepherd

    Burden of Responsibility

May we each carry out our burden of responsibility as wise and faithful servants. May we each recognise the strain of the task laid on the one who cares for us: “Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that He will make him ruler over all that he hath.” Matthew 24:46

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee]. ⏤ Psalm 139:11-12

You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed. ⏤ S.D. Gordon

Breathe upon us with Your breath of grace and love, our Father, and give us an evening blessing. Let our prayers rise before You as fragrant incense. Let Your peace be upon us. The shadows have deepened around us, but You are in the shadows, and we are safe. Darkness holds no danger when You are watching over us. Night is as day when . . .
Your eye keeps watch on us,
    Your hand protects us,
    And Your arm embraces us.

We go to our rest without fear or anxiety, for You are keeping us. Human arms, though their embrace is dear, are not strong. They cannot always hold us. Even the strongest of them must one day fall in the weakness of death. But Your arms are everlasting. Nothing can tear us from Your grasp. Nothing in the universe can separate us from Your love. No one can snatch us from the hand of our Savior. We bless You for Your love, for our security in it, and for the eternity of Your grace. Your promises are sure forever. We are as safe as if we were already in Heaven, for You are our God and Father, and we are Your redeemed children.

Whatever sins we have committed today, please forgive. If we have harmed one of Your little ones, show us how we have done it so that we may seek to make it right. If we have lost our temper and spoken unadvisedly, impatiently, unkindly, or uncharitably, either to or about someone else, we ask for forgiveness. Take not Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation. Grant us grace and teach us the better way, the more excellent way, the way of love. We want to show forth Your praise in all our lives. Bless us and enable us to manifest Jesus wherever we go. We ask all this in the name of Jesus our Redeemer. Amen.

    PRAISE.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
Praise is simply lifting God. It expresses admiration and thanks. Everyone who has received grace must learn to praise God daily. Today's text emphasises God's majesty, the believer's response, and the boundless nature of divine greatness. David commits himself to extol and bless God always. This expresses reverence and a lifelong devotion rooted in a relationship. God's greatness transcends human understanding, inviting perpetual awe and praise. Indeed, God is love, just, faithful, and full of mercy. Such testimonies encourage others to trust and praise God. How often do you express gratitude to God for His goodness in your life? Do not allow life challenges to deter you from giving God praise. Make praise an ethos of your life!

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
    Matthew 6:20

    Practical Preparation

What a lot of practical commands there are in the Bible concerning preparation. How often are we warned of the foolish consequences of ignoring them.. yet how many of us really heed such cautions? How many of us truly obey His Word? “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… we are warned where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:20

    Heavenly Home

This is not an airy-fairy tales of princesses and peas – or dungeons and dragons. This is no cute little bed-time fantasy to escape from the drudge of a hard life. This is the reality of God’s plans and purposes for each blood-bought child of His. Heaven and its wonders will still be rich and glorious in the future ages to come. Heaven will still be a fact when this world has slipped into a distant bygone age, And we are charged to store up treasure in the world to come – our heavenly home, and if we comply with this directive, we will be blessed both here and there.

    Man’s Mind

But what does it mean to store up treasure? Should we give everything away, like the rich young ruler was instructed? Should we eat husks; sleep under cardboard; retire to a cave? – I doubt i, But God does desire an undivided heart.. and He does know the evil intent of man’s mind.

    Divided Heart

God knows that your possessions; your home; your bank balance can become your god. He knows that in a divided heart, (mammon and God) cannot reign together, and mammon is so much more than money – much more than dollars or pounds. Mammon is the whole realm of riches, possessions, property and commerce.. and God knows if our eye is not single – for God knows the inner heart.

    His Light

But if our eyes are on Him, our vision is unimpaired and we walk in His Light: and if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:7

    Our Choice

Treasure is not to do with whether we have much or whether we have little. It is not to do with whether we have goods or money; houses, career or position. It is whether we have become so attached to them they we prefer them to Him. It is a choice between the two – for only one can rule your heart and life.

    Master or Friend

So what does it mean to make friends with mammon? Why in Luke 16, are we instructed to: “make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon” Luke 16:9 Does this not contradict scriptures, which warn us against the love of money? No, it does not contradict scripture, but is does have an important meaning. God has entrusted us with many things, one of which is our money – mammon. Mammon is not to be our master – but we are to master our goods and wealth.

    Wise Servant

The world is shrewd in the way it conducts itself – and we must be shrewd too, but they are shrewd in an ungodly way and make mammon their god. We too must be shrewd with all we have by dealing with it a godly way. We are to act wisely with all that has been entrusted to us. God translates faithfulness into a faithful and wise servant in His service. He is watching to see if we are faithful and wise in all that He has entrusted to us… waiting to see if we fall into the category of a divided heart – waiting to see if He is all in all.

    Warning Words

It is only when a crisis arrives in our lives that our true attachments surface. It’s only when we truly recognise our position in Him that we can remain undivided. This world is not our final resting place – we are sojourners, passing through, and these little warning words against a divided heart have a deeper meaning. They are unmistakably linked to the any-day return of our Lord Jesus for His own.

    Seek Him First

We are entreated in all things to have our hearts set upon Him. We are implored to, seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; for if we do: all the things we need shall be added unto us. But life from start to finish is made up of many choices. We can choose the good or we can choose the evil – but we cannot have both. We cannot serve God AND mammon – the choice is God OR mammon.

    A Single Heart

Do you remember Lot’s wife? – Do you remember what she did as she fled the wrath to come? She looked back – all she had built up over the years was back in Sodom, and she couldn’t bear to let it go. She compromised the grace that was afforded her – in the day of her crisis. Her actions and attitudes demonstrate the realities of a divided heart. She had not come to terms with true singleness of heart.

    Treasure in Heaven

How important singleness of vision and an undivided heart is in this day of crisis – whosoever shall gain His life shall lose it.. but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall gain it. “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, we are warned where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it. ⏤ Isaiah 55:11

It is possible to move men, through God, by prayer alone. ⏤ Hudson Taylor

We come back this evening, our Father, to continue our prayer for the coming of Your kingdom. The day is past, and the work of Your servants is done. Thousands of ministers have preached Your word, tens of thousands of teachers have taught the children, and in millions of Christian homes, supplications and prayers have been offered. Let not all this work be in vain. May Your Spirit gather up all that has been done for You today and give it Your divine blessing, without which nothing can come of it.

Revive Your work in this land and in the world through this Sunday's ministrations. May many of Your children carry new earnestness and zeal into their living and work tomorrow. May the seeds sown in the furrows today take root and grow. Let not the birds gather up and devour what has been sown. Let not the thorns spring up and choke it. Let not the heat of trials scorch the tender growths. May the good seed grow wherever it has been sown, and may abundant harvests wave on thousands of fields. Prosper Your work on the earth.

May Your peace rest upon our home tonight. May the gentle Dove descend and spread His white wings over us, sheltering us while we sleep. May holy influences rest upon us from this Sunday, and may its teachings and impressions stay with us throughout the week. Keep each of us from the world's ungodly power. Hold us all near Your heart, in the warmth of Your love, in the strong security of Your grace. May the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with us forever. Amen.

We too must be shrewd with all we have by dealing with it a godly way. We are to act wisely with all that has been entrusted to us. God translates faithfulness into a faithful and wise servant in His service. He is watching to see if we are faithful and wise in all that He has entrusted to us… waiting to see if we fall into the category of a divided heart – waiting to see if He is all in all. Warning Words It is only when a crisis arrives in our lives that our true attachments surface. It’s only when we truly recognise our position in Him that we can remain undivided. This world is not our final resting place – we are sojourners, passing through, and these little warning words against a divided heart have a deeper meaning. They are unmistakably linked to the any-day return of our Lord Jesus for His own. Seek Him First We are entreated in all things to have our hearts set upon Him. We are implored to, seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; for if we do: all the things we need shall be added unto us. But life from start to finish is made up of many choices. We can choose the good or we can choose the evil – but we cannot have both. We cannot serve God AND mammon – the choice is God OR mammon. A Single Heart Do you remember Lot’s wife? – Do you remember what she did as she fled the wrath to come? She looked back – all she had built up over the years was back in Sodom, and she couldn’t bear to let it go. She compromised the grace that was afforded her – in the day of her crisis. Her actions and attitudes demonstrate the realities of a divided heart. She had not come to terms with true singleness of heart. Treasure in Heaven How important singleness of vision and an undivided heart is in this day of crisis – whosoever shall gain His life shall lose it.. but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall gain it. “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, we are warned where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19 Post navigation Previous Post Previous Guard Your Heart Proudly powered by WordPress. 2. Evening Prayer for today. EP.i. Evening Prayer So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it. ⏤ Isaiah 55:11 It is possible to move men, through God, by prayer alone. ⏤ Hudson Taylor We come back this evening, our Father, to continue our prayer for the coming of Your kingdom. The day is past, and the work of Your servants is done. Thousands of ministers have preached Your word, tens of thousands of teachers have taught the children, and in millions of Christian homes, supplications and prayers have been offered. Let not all this work be in vain. May Your Spirit gather up all that has been done for You today and give it Your divine blessing, without which nothing can come of it. Revive Your work in this land and in the world through this Sunday's ministrations. May many of Your children carry new earnestness and zeal into their living and work tomorrow. May the seeds sown in the furrows today take root and grow. Let not the birds gather up and devour what has been sown. Let not the thorns spring up and choke it. Let not the heat of trials scorch the tender growths. May the good seed grow wherever it has been sown, and may abundant harvests wave on thousands of fields. Prosper Your work on the earth. May Your peace rest upon our home tonight. May the gentle Dove descend and spread His white wings over us, sheltering us while we sleep. May holy influences rest upon us from this Sunday, and may its teachings and impressions stay with us throughout the week. Keep each of us from the world's ungodly power. Hold us all near Your heart, in the warmth of Your love, in the strong security of Your grace. May the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with us forever.     @25The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

    Devotional Reflection on Proverbs 30:25

“The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.”

Ants remind us that wisdom is not measured by size or strength but by foresight and diligence. Though fragile, they thrive because they prepare in advance.

    Spiritual Lesson
    - Faithful preparation: Just as ants store food for the winter, we are called to store up spiritual strength through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship. Seasons of abundance should be used to prepare for seasons of trial.
    - God’s design in creation: Even the smallest creatures reflect divine wisdom. Observing them teaches us humility and attentiveness to God’s lessons in everyday life.

    🛠 Practical Life Lesson
    - Stewardship: Save and plan during times of plenty so you can endure lean seasons without fear.
    - Consistency in discipline: Success often comes not from bursts of strength but from steady, disciplined effort and co-operation.
    - Resilience through foresight: Preparing today prevents panic tomorrow.

    ---

This proverb is a gentle nudge: don’t wait until winter to think about food, or until hardship to think about faith. The wise prepare in advance, trusting God while also acting responsibly.

  • Good evening, brethren.
    1. Evening devotion for today.

    ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    RESPONSE TO GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    OBEYING GOD'S COMMANDS.

    *TEXT:*
    1 SAMUEL 15:22-23.
22 But Samuel declared: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.
    Pro 4:17 Hos 6:6 Mat 9:13 Mat 12:7 [Pro 21:3] [Mat 23:23] [Luk 11:42]
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance is like the wickedness of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has rejected you as king.”
    [Hos 13:11]

    *TOPIC:*
    OBEYING GOD'S COMMANDS.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
God commanded King Saul to destroy everything that belonged to the Amalekites, but he did not obey. His excuse for sparing Agag and some animals was not acceptable to God. Today's text makes it clear that religious ceremonies, rituals, or activities are empty unless they are performed with an attitude of love and reverence. Disobedience to God's commands is likened to witchcraft and idol worship. These are grave sins that attract the death penalty. Disobedience to God is rampant among Christians today. Religiosity has taken over spirituality and total submission to God's instructions. The good singer, instrumentalist, or preacher may be guilty of sexual immorality or idolatry, which God forbids. Remember, Saul disobeyed God; he was rejected, and his kingdom was taken away from him. Do not be like him.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Disobedience attracts God's punishment.

    *PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to always obey Your commands. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    TITUS 2:12.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*

Therefore, be ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
    Matthew 24:44

    Godly Instruction

It is through God’s word that the Creator of the universe communicates to us. It is through the Word of God that the Saviour of our soul speaks to His own. The need for readiness and preparedness is a Bible theme that frequently surfaces, and the many instructions to be ready and prepared are given to saved believers.

    Wise Preparation

Noah heeded the word of the Lord and made ready an ark of salvation for his family. Israel were ready to move camp in the wilderness, as soon as God’s pillars appeared. The prudence of wise preparation is a repeated warning in the book of Proverbs. Peter reminds of the necessity to be prepared to give an answer for what we believe. John encourages us to abide in Christ so we will be spiritually ready to meet Him, and Christ’s warning of the 10 virgins rings loud and clear- to His own followers: be ready, be prepared – your Lord comes at a time you think not.

    Armour of Light

Paul warns us to cast off the works of darkness put on the armour of light, for he knows the night is far gone and the day is at hand for the Lord’s return, The need to be ready and prepared is a theme that frequently surfaces in Scripture. The time for readiness and preparedness is not a future issue, but necessary now!

    Accepted Time

Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation 2Cor.6:2. Now is time to be ready – not in 20 years, 20 months; 20 days or 20 hours… So why is it important to be ready and prepared and watchful? What is the reason for this oft-repeated exhortation in the pages of scripture? Why is this warning to be ready given to believers in so many places?

    Spiritual Readiness

Being unprepared does NOT mean that a believer loses eternal life – that’s finished. The work on the cross was a ‘done deal’ forever, when you were washed in His blood. God would deny His very essence were He to change His mind on that aspect. No, the problem of unpreparedness in a believer – it is a lack of spiritual reserves.

    Danger of Unpreparedness

Lack of spiritual readiness can hit doctrinally sound saints and godliest of men alike. Lack of spiritual preparedness can creep up on the most ardent believer. Lives thrown into confusion by this or that – is a result 0f being unprepared, Ill-prepared believers can be torn apart by grief, loss; need or calamity.

    Careless Unpreparedness

But this is not the only sphere of life that can catch a Christian unaware. Lives that are comfortable, clean and plodding carelessly along may be unprepared. Lives that have left their first love or lost their focus on Christ will not be ready. Lives that enjoy a surfeit of worldliness are lives that fall foul of Satan’s ploys. Lives that give up on patient endurance have left the Spirit’s training program. Lives that treat other believers carelessly may be in danger of not being ready. Lives that have removed their eyes from the goal of their calling will not be ready.

    Lack of Reserves

These are believers that have no reserves and they are the ones that are ‘foolish’ These believers are born of God, saved by His blood – but just not ready. These are the ones in Whom the Holy Spirit resides – but are not prepared. These may be deeply involved in the interests of Christ’s work and yet be unprepared.

The need for readiness and preparedness is a Bible theme that frequently surfaces, and many instructions to be ready and prepared are given to saved believers.

    Being Ready

The warning to be ready should rejoice our hearts and be an encouragement, for God has outlined in His Word all we need to ensure we are ready and prepared – and loving Jesus and trusting His word is the most important step in being ready.

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content. ⏤ Philippians 4:11

Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude—an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God. ⏤ Arthur Pink

Almighty God, who has ordered our lives and appointed the place where we live—grant us the grace to accept cheerfully and to occupy contentedly the station in life that You, in Your providence, have assigned to us. Help us to see its sacredness because it is Your fatherly choice for us and Your gift to us.

Surely, the place You have prepared for us, and where You have set us, must be the best place for us—the place where we can best grow as Christians, where the atmosphere is most healthy for us, and where the experiences are best suited to develop our character. It must also be the place where we can do the best service for You. Help us to accept it with confidence and to live in it without discontent.

Sometimes we are tempted to complain. We think others are more favored, have easier lives, less care and toil, and more ease and comfort. We imagine that if we could trade places with others, we could live more sweetly and make more of our lives.

Forgive us for this sin of discontentment with our place in life. You know what is best for us. You know where we can be of the most use to You and others, where the work is that You have for us to do.

So, we earnestly pray, our Father, for the spirit of cheerful acceptance of Your plan and Your way for us. Help us to accept Your guidance and to do the things that come to us day by day from Your hand. Then, at the end, we can rejoice in the blessing of those who have done Your will and served our generation. We ask all this through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Help us to accept Your guidance and to do the things that come to us day by day from Your hand. Then, at the end, we can rejoice in the blessing of those who have done Your will and served our generation. We ask all this through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Good evening, brethren. 1. Evening devotion for today. ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST* (COCIN DEVOTIONAL) *DATE:* WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY, 2026. *SUB-THEME:* RESPONSE TO GRACE. *TOPIC:* OBEYING GOD'S COMMANDS. *TEXT:* 1 SAMUEL 15:22-23. 22 But Samuel declared: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams. Pro 4:17 Hos 6:6 Mat 9:13 Mat 12:7 [Pro 21:3] [Mat 23:23] [Luk 11:42] 23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance is like the wickedness of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has rejected you as king.” [Hos 13:11] *TOPIC:* OBEYING GOD'S COMMANDS. *THE MESSAGE:* God commanded King Saul to destroy everything that belonged to the Amalekites, but he did not obey. *REFLECTION:* Disobedience attracts God's punishment. *PRAYER:* Lord, help me to always obey Your commands. Amen. *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:* TITUS 2:12. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age. *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:* JOB 28-30. ED.ii. It is through the Word of God that the Saviour of our soul speaks to His own. The need for readiness and preparedness is a Bible theme that frequently surfaces, and the many instructions to be ready and prepared are given to saved believers. Wise Preparation Noah heeded the word of the Lord and made ready an ark of salvation for his family. Armour of Light Paul warns us to cast off the works of darkness put on the armour of light, for he knows the night is far gone and the day is at hand for the Lord’s return, The need to be ready and prepared is a theme that frequently surfaces in Scripture. The time for readiness and preparedness is not a future issue, but necessary now! Accepted Time Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation 2Cor.6:2. Now is time to be ready – not in 20 years, 20 months; 20 days or 20 hours… So why is it important to be ready and prepared and watchful? What is the reason for this oft-repeated exhortation in the pages of scripture? Why is this warning to be ready given to believers in so many places? Spiritual Readiness Being unprepared does NOT mean that a believer loses eternal life – that’s finished. The work on the cross was a ‘done deal’ forever, when you were washed in His blood. God would deny His very essence were He to change His mind on that aspect. No, the problem of unpreparedness in a believer – it is a lack of spiritual reserves. Danger of Unpreparedness Lack of spiritual readiness can hit doctrinally sound saints and godliest of men alike. Lack of spiritual preparedness can creep up on the most ardent believer. Lives thrown into confusion by this or that – is a result 0f being unprepared, Ill-prepared believers can be torn apart by grief, loss; need or calamity. Careless Unpreparedness But this is not the only sphere of life that can catch a Christian unaware. Lack of Reserves These are believers that have no reserves and they are the ones that are ‘foolish’ These believers are born of God, saved by His blood – but just not ready. These are the ones in Whom the Holy Spirit resides – but are not prepared. These may be deeply involved in the interests of Christ’s work and yet be unprepared. Bible Theme It is through God’s word that the Creator of the universe communicates to us. It is through the Word of God that the Saviour of our soul speaks to His own. The need for readiness and preparedness is a Bible theme that frequently surfaces, and many instructions to be ready and prepared are given to saved believers. Being Ready The warning to be ready should rejoice our hearts and be an encouragement, for God has outlined in His Word all we need to ensure we are ready and prepared – and loving Jesus and trusting His word is the most important step in being ready. Evening Prayer Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content. ⏤ Philippians 4:11 Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude—an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God. ⏤ Arthur Pink Almighty God, who has ordered our lives and appointed the place where we live—grant us the grace to accept cheerfully and to occupy contentedly the station in life that You, in Your providence, have assigned to us.
