  • Daily Devotion — August 23 | Acts 20:16 (NKJV)

    Living with Purpose

Paul carefully planned his journey because he desired to reach Jerusalem by the Day of Pentecost. Although he deeply loved the believers in Ephesus, he recognized that God's calling required him to stay focused on the mission before him. His decisions reflected wisdom, discipline, and a commitment to making the best use of the time God had given him.

This verse reminds us that living for Christ requires intentional choices. Paul understood that not every good opportunity could be pursued if it distracted him from God's greater purpose. He remained focused on the mission the Lord had entrusted to him.

For believers today, this passage encourages us to use our time wisely and keep Christ at the center of our priorities. As we seek God's direction, He helps us make decisions that honor Him and advance His kingdom. A life lived with purpose is a life that continually seeks to fulfill God's will.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Are my daily priorities aligned with God's purpose for my life?

    2. What distractions keep me from focusing on what matters most?

    3. How can I better use my time to serve the Lord?

    Prayer

Lord God, thank You for giving me each day as a gift. Help me to use my time wisely and to keep my focus on the purpose You have for my life. Guide my decisions so that everything I do brings honor and glory to You. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    ● Begin each day by committing your schedule to the Lord.

    ● Focus on activities that strengthen your relationship with Christ.

    ● Make time to serve others and share God's love.

    Takeaway Thought

A life focused on God's purpose is a life that leaves an eternal impact.

  • Nine people viewed my post questioning the lack of fellowship here on this platform. Not one comment resulted. A few more days of nothing and I will consider this platform worthless. Scripture encourages us to fellowship and commune with others. That's not happening here. i had higher hopes.

  • Isaiah 53 is the last of four messianic prophecies in the book of Isaiah known as the “Servant Songs” (chs. 42, 49, 50, 53) because they speak of the ministry, suffering, and exaltation of God’s Servant, the Messiah. Chapter 53 describes the rejection of Jesus (vv. 1-3), His suffering and death in our place (vv. 4-6), His sacrificial death and burial (vv. 7-9), and His resurrection (vv. 10-12).

The New Testament unequivocally applies Isaiah 53 to Christ (see John 12:38; Romans 10:16 [Isaiah 53:1]; Matthew 8:17 [Isaiah 53:4]; 1 Peter 2:22-25 [Isaiah 53:4-9]; Acts 8:32-33 [Isaiah 53:7-8]; Luke 22:37 [Isaiah 53:12]). Peter quoted Isaiah 53:4-9 (1 Peter 2:22-25) to encourage believers in Jesus who were suffering because of their faith (1:6) that Christ also endured unjust suffering. When we put our faith in Jesus—the authentic Son of God—He’ll help us reflect Him in our lives and “follow in his steps” (v. 21).
