  • THE PILGRIMS GUIDE

    TUESDAY JUNE 9, 2026

THE POWER OF PRAYER AND GODLY INTERCESSION

    A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Take your lord’s servants with you and have Solomon my son mount my own mule and take him down to Gihon. There have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’" 1Kings 1:33-34 NKJV.

David as an old man, was no longer active as he used to be. Adonijah his son seized the occasion to take over the throne and he got followers behind him. Adonijah probably felt that since the heir apparent to the throne - Amnon had died and the next in line too - Absalom was dead, the privilege of being the next king naturally fell on him according to tradition, and since the king was out of shape, he couldn't continue to wait endlessly. This also follows that, it could be a possible reason that Joab, and some other faithful men of David aligned with him.

Having been alerted by Nathan, the seer, about the ongoing strategic royal succession intrigues in the palace, Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon agreed with the seer to go see King David and remind him of his earlier promise to have Solomon succeed him as king; but that Bathsheba would go in first, followed by Nathan, the seer. This intervention, got David to instruct the harnessing of his mule, and had Solomon rode on it around Gihon and installed him as king in his stead and thus frustrated the travesty of Adonijah.

The lesson here is that you should never be afraid to take your matters to God in prayers even when it seems you have lost the battle. You cannot decide that it is over unless you have heard from God.
You are God's special child that should ride on His mule to showcase your kingship and priesthood.
If Bathsheba had kept quiet, Solomon would have lost out on his inheritance.
Thank goodness for the gift of men like Nathan who encouraged her not to give up on having King David fulfil his promise to make Solomon king in his place.

Adonijah conceded to his loss that day and he didn't make a fuss about it. He knew he had no right or power to challenge the King's decision and doing such at that time would amount to foolishness and possible death.

    PRAYER BULLETS:

ABBA Father, thank You for Your loving kindness to me. May I never, out of fear or discouragement cease to come to You with my needs.

May I find Your favour of riding on Your mule to showcase my kingship and priesthood.

    FURTHER READING:

    James 5:16; Esther 4:14-16; Psalm 2:6-7; Proverbs 21:1; 1 Peter 2:9-10.

  • A WORD FOR YOU.

And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. 1Kings 18:41 KJV.

THERE IS A SOUND OF ABUNDANCE OF RAIN. Elijah made this prophetic word after his encounter with the prophet's of Baal. First there was a sound (sign) of abundance but guess what: only Elijah heard it. Second, Elijah gave a directive to Ahab, but only Elijah went to pray. This is noteworthy.

    1. MAY YOU SEE WHAT GOD IS DOING. So many believers are blind and deaf to what God is doing or about to do, hence, they miss out. They loose their position and miss their portion because they can't see or hear God's action. What you see, affects what you do. Your vision always affect your direction. Your emotions are tied to your vision. You relocate, resign or decline a proposal because you can't see the next phase. Your greatest undoing in life is to walk in blindness. This is because, God cannot take you to where you can't see. God told Jeremiah:.. you have well seen: now, I will perform it hastily. Jer.1:12. May you see well. Now PRAY, LORD OPEN MY EYES TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Stay refreshed!

  • Good evening, brethren.

    1. Evening devotion for today.

    i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    SATURDAY 4TH APRIL, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    THE CROSS: CULMINATION OF GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE.

    *TEXT:*
    JOHN 19:38-42.
    38. Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.
    39. He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.
    40. Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.
    41. At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.
    42. Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

    *TOPIC:*
    AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
Jesus' disciples disserted Him when He was arrested and prosecuted. After the crucifixion, two of His disciples boldly expressed their love for Jesus. Joseph secured permission from Pilate to take Jesus' body for burial. Nicodemus brought a large number of burial spices, signifying reverence and honour. The lavished burial, typically reserved for the wealthy or honoured, fulfils Isaiah 53:9 and underscores Jesus' kingship even in death. This also shows that even in death, Jesus draws unexpected people into bold acts of faith. Joseph and Nicodemus reciprocated the grace they received from Jesus. Believers ought to express their love, devotion, and generosity to God. It is not a day of drunkeness, orgies, and all manner of indulgences. Watch out!

    *REFLECTION:*
    His grace calls for service.

    *PRAYER:*
Lord, thank You for the grace in service for Your kingdom. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    COLOSSIANS 2:15.
"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
    1 KINGS 12-14.

Jesus said…. lo I am with you always – even to the consummation of the age.
    Matthew 28:20

    Difficult Saying

What a truth to hide in your heart. What a promise to rest your weary soul upon. This assurance was given to the confused disciples at the ascension of their Lord. The understanding of this difficult saying was later given to the apostle Paul: lo I am with you always.. even to the consummation of the age.

    Vital Reality

This puzzling point is the central feature found in Colossians: ‘the mystery, hid from the ages..’ Colossians 1:26. This was the vital truth of ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory.’ Colossians 1:27 What an important thing to know. What a vital reality to understand, that Christ never intended to be out of the world again during the coming ‘age’. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost? – the Spirit of Christ dwells in you. 1 Corinthians 6:19

    Christ’s Heritage

Jesus came to His own heritage but His own people received Him not….’ John 1:11 Jesus came to redeem His rightful inheritance, bequeathed to Him by the Father. He came to reclaim His judicial right – His right to the sovereignty of the world. He came to initiate, to continue, and to complete the restoration of His own domain. He came 2000 years ago to do it. He came to His own heritage but His own people received Him not, ‘but as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name’ John 1:12

    Ever Present Promise

And He did redeem this mortal coil with His blood, shed on a wooden cross.. and He proclaimed He never intended to be away from the world during this age. ‘Lo I am with you always – even into the consummation of the age.’

    Christ in You

How – how could Jesus make such astonishing claims, and then go away into heaven? How – how could He say such comforting things, and then leave them so alone? How – how could He make such a glorious promise, only to slap them down again? Because it was the truth….. ‘Thy word is truth’. John 17:17 And Jesus said:- ‘Lo I am with you always, even to the consummation of the age.’ And Jesus said:- ‘I in them, and Thou in Me – that they may be made perfect in one.’ John 17:23

    God’s Word

Never doubt the pledge of His word. Never doubt the pages of scripture. Never doubt the promises of the Bible, ‘For the word of the LORD in the mouth is true.’ 1Kings 17:24 The word of the LORD in the mouth of the Author of Scripture is true. We are His blood-bought children whose assurance in Him is secure, for His promises are true – they are ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ in Christ. To you is the promise, ‘Lo I am with you always, even to the consummation of this dispensation.’

    Spiritual Life

The personal, physical presence of Christ in the world was first revealed at His birth. His nature, method, means, and law were manifested through His lovely life. His purpose, power, and abiding presence was demonstrated, here on earth. His unique personage, for 33 years, was displayed in the days of His physical flesh. He, Who was from God (proceeded from God or be sent by God) shows the necessity and nature of spiritual birth: that which is born of the flesh is flesh.. and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6 And from the commencement of Christ’s ministry, all He did was in and through the Spirit.. and from the start of His ministry, all He did was under the shadow of the Cross.

    The Cross Life

If God’s will is to be done on earth as it is in heaven it can be done one way only. It can only be done via the cross. From the very start, all Jesus did was in the power of the Holy Spirit. From the very beginning, all Jesus did was in the light of the cross. He puts the cross in the figure of baptism ‘baptised into His death.’ … Romans 6:3. If the life of Christ is to be lived out in this plane, it is only through the cross.

    Hope of Glory

The teachings of Christ cannot be copied unless the cross is the basis. The teachings of Christ cannot be effectual unless the cross is the basis. To strive to replicate and reproduce the Christ-life without the cross is doomed to fail. To try to copy or continue the work of Christ without the cross is to labour in vain. It is to do works of the flesh without acceptance by the Father – and herein lies the miracle of Christ in you the hope of glory 2Corinthians 13:5

    Self on the Cross

You see this is what He meant when He said:- ‘Lo I am with you always. Even into the consummation of the age’. Christ in you – and your old self on the cross. ‘Christ in you – the hope of glory’.

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    i. Evening Prayer

Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: ⏤ Ephesians 1:3

Our hearts overflow when we remember the family we have in Him. ⏤ Charles Spurgeon

O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, we come to You with love and faith this evening. Please graciously forgive all our sins, which are many, and give us Your peace. We belong to You as Your children, and we owe You the best honor, obedience, and service that we can give. Help us to fulfill our obligations and meet our responsibilities.

We thank You for Your goodness to us throughout this past week. You have showered us with blessings from Your bountiful hand. You have given us many favors, some of which have come in the form of trials, burdens, disappointments, and losses. But we know that these are also gifts from You, meant to bring good and blessing into our lives. Give us the grace to accept whatever You send, knowing that Your love can only give us what is ultimately good for us. Even if the cup is bitter, help us to accept it with faith.

We long for deeper and richer blessings for our home. We want to become more like our Savior. May our home life be filled with sanctifying influences. May our human love for each other deepen our love for You. Help us to live together with patience, thoughtfulness, and unselfishness, always seeking to do good to one another.

Come and be our guest, O Lord, just as You were a guest in the home at Bethany, bringing comfort, love, and blessing. Come and bless our home in the same way. Bless each of us with Your presence, both now and for eternity. We ask this in Your precious name. Amen.

Hope of Glory The teachings of Christ cannot be copied unless the cross is the basis. The teachings of Christ cannot be effectual unless the cross is the basis. To strive to replicate and reproduce the Christ-life without the cross is doomed to fail. To try to copy or continue the work of Christ without the cross is to labour in vain. It is to do works of the flesh without acceptance by the Father – and herein lies the miracle of Christ in you the hope of glory 2Corinthians 13:5 Self on the Cross You see this is what He meant when He said:- ‘Lo I am with you always. Even into the consummation of the age’. Christ in you – and your old self on the cross. ‘Christ in you – the hope of glory’. Evening Prayer Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: ⏤ Ephesians 1:3 Our hearts overflow when we remember the family we have in Him. ⏤ Charles Spurgeon O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, we come to You with love and faith this evening. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/90/evening #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

    SATURDAY APRIL 4, 2026

  • Good evening, brethren.

    1. Evening devotion for today.

    i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    WEDNESDAY 18TH MARCH, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
THE GRACE OF GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES.

    *TOPIC:*
    WIDOWHOOD AND LOSS OF SUPPORT.

    *TEXT:*
    1 TIMOTHY 5:3-16.
    3. Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.
    4. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
    5. The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.
    6. But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.
    7. Give the people these instructions, so that no one may be open to blame.
    8. Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
    9. No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband,
    10. and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
    11. As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry.
    12. Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge.
    13. Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to.
    14. So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.
    15. Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.
    16. If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.

    *TOPIC:*
    WIDOWHOOD AND LOSS OF SUPPORT.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
Widowhood is the state of a woman whose husband is dead. It is often saddled with significant challenges, including emotional distress, social isolation, and financial hardship. Loss of support from the church and community can exacerbate these difficulties. In today's text, the apostle Paul provides words of encouragement for the widows. After assuring them of God's care and provision, the church is enjoined to honour, respect, and support them, while the widows should be devoted to and trust in God alone, "their husband' (Isa. 54:5). They should not allow men to take advantage of them. Widows should not be idle; they should find something worth doing to maintain their honour and dignity. Draw strength from God's grace; do not allow stigma to ruin you.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Widows are God's special concern.

    *PRAYER:*
Dear Lord, help me to help the widows. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    ROMANS 8:28.
And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
    1 SAMUEL 9-12.

    Simple Reflection

I was reflecting on the many earthquakes that have recently been rocking the world. Quakes and distresses have been striking the globe with increased intensity and frequency, and earthquakes are just one pointer to the soon return of the Lord in power and great glory.

    Still Small Voice

But my thoughts transferred to a different earthquake – one the prophet Elijah saw. My mind sped to his shattering experience with his violent earthquake. He stood in the presence of the Lord and experienced a devastating wind – a fierce and mighty wind. And after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice… 1Kings 19:12. And through the gentle whisper of God’s voice, Elijah knew his God in a new and powerful way.

    Mind the Checks

I want to share a special reflection from, ‘Way of Faith,‘. – about that quiet, gentle stillness. A soul who made rapid progress in her understanding of the Lord was asked once the secret of her easy advancement. She briefly replied, “Mind the checks! Mind the checks!”

    Warning Whispers

Perhaps the reason that many of us do not know and better understand Him.. is that we do not give heed to His gentle ‘checks’ – His warning whispers – His balanced counsel. His quiet restraints and gentle constraints are often passed unheeded, in the clamour of life.

    Gentle Pressure

The Lord still whispers in His small and gentle voice… a still voice can hardly be heard; a still voice must be almost felt; a still voice is like a steady, gentle pressure upon the heart and mind – a still voice is like the touch of a morning zephyr on your face. A still voice is a small voice, quietly, almost timidly spoken in your heart. A voice that if heeded, will grow noiselessly clearer to your inner ear.

    Ear of Love

His voice is spoken into the ear of love, for love is intent on hearing even the faintest whispers from the Beloved. But there does come a time, also, when love ceases to be heard.. if love is not responded to – if love is not believed in.

    Take Heed

He is Love, and if you would know Him and His hear His voice.. take heed and give constant ear to His gentle touches and His hushed breath. Take heed in conversation, when about to utter some word. Give heed to that gentle voice, “mind the checks,” – and refrain from speech.

    Wait on God

Take heed when you are about to pursue some course in life, that seems clear and right.. until there comes a Heart to heart suggestion that almost has in it the force of conviction – give heed and “mind the checks!”. Learn to be still and wait on God, to be hushed in His presence and listen. Learn to wait upon Him for the unfolding of His will, for He knows the way you should take. Job 23:10

    Perfect Direction

Let God form your plans about everything in your mind and your heart, and then let Him execute those plans through you – but in His way. Do not possess any wisdom of your own, but rely on His perfect direction. Many times His execution will seem contradictory to the plans He seemed to give. If it appears that He works against Him or counter to your thoughts.. listen and “mind the checks.” Simply listen, obey and trust the Lord, even when it seems high folly to do so.

    Losing Game

He will in the end cause “all things work together,” Romans 8:28, though many times initially the outworking of His plan appears contradictory. In His wider knowledge He is content to play a ‘losing’ game!!

    Quiet Obedience

So if you want to know His voice, never consider results or possible effects. Obey the quiet voice, even when He asks you to move in the dark or the opposite way. He Himself will be glorious light in you, as He leads you down the path you are to take.

    Secure in Him

You will discover an acquaintance and a fellowship with God holding you.. holding you and Him together, even in the severest testings – holding Him and you together.. even under the most terrible pressure.

    Anchored to Christ

In this time of earthquakes and many other terrors that are coming on the world, men’s hearts will fail unless their heart is anchored to His voice of love. Listen for that still small voice of the Lord that whispers deep within the heart – and mind the checks !

Job 23:10 Perfect Direction Let God form your plans about everything in your mind and your heart, and then let Him execute those plans through you – but in His way. Losing Game He will in the end cause “all things work together,” Romans 8:28, though many times initially the outworking of His plan appears contradictory. In His wider knowledge He is content to play a ‘losing’ game!! Quiet Obedience So if you want to know His voice, never consider results or possible effects. Obey the quiet voice, even when He asks you to move in the dark or the opposite way. He Himself will be glorious light in you, as He leads you down the path you are to take. Secure in Him You will discover an acquaintance and a fellowship with God holding you.. holding you and Him together, even in the severest testings – holding Him and you together.. even under the most terrible pressure. Anchored to Christ In this time of earthquakes and many other terrors that are coming on the world, men’s hearts will fail unless their heart is anchored to His voice of love. Listen for that still small voice of the Lord that whispers deep within the heart – and mind the checks ! Post navigation Previous Post Previous His Soon Return Proudly powered by WordPress.

  • GLORIOUS SUNDAY SERMON OF
    25 JANUARY 2026

    LESSON: 1 KING 19:5-8

    TOPIC:
    STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY,
    NOT JUST THE START:

    TEXT:
And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”
    1Kings 19:7 (NKJV).

    INTRODUCTION:
Many of us begin our walk with God full of fire, full of songs, full of bold declarations. But somewhere between the promise and the fulfillment, the road stretches longer than we imagined. Life tests our stamina, not just our sincerity. God, in His wisdom, does not only give strength to start well. He gives strength to endure, to continue, and to finish faithfully. Be strengthen by the word in Jesus name.

    EXPOSITION:
[1]. STRENGTH THAT IS RENEWED, NOT STORED:
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord “shall renew their strength.” This tells us something simple but deep. Spiritual strength is not a one-time deposit. It is a daily exchange. We come tired, God supplies fresh grace. We come empty, He fills again. The journey demands constant connection, not past encounters.

[2]. STRENGTH THAT MEETS US IN OUR WEAKEST MOMENTS:
In 1 Kings 19:7, Elijah is found exhausted, ready to give up. Yet God sends an angel, not with rebuke, but with bread and rest, saying, “The journey is too great for you.” God acknowledges our limits. He does not shame our weariness. He strengthens us right where we collapse.

[3]. STRENGTH THAT HELPS US FINISH WELL:
Hebrews 12:1 calls us to “run with endurance the race set before us.” Starting is easy. Finishing requires discipline, focus, and grace. God’s strength trains our hearts to let go of distractions and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

    CONCLUSION:
    COMMITTED TO CARRY YOU THROUGH!
God is not only interested in how you begin. He is deeply invested in how you endure and how you finish. The same God who called you is committed to carrying you through.

    PRAYER:
Lord, renew my strength for every step of this journey. When I grow tired, lift me. When I grow weak, carry me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    PROPHETIC AFFIRMATION:
I declare that my strength is renewed daily. I will not faint. I will finish my race with joy and faithfulness.

    GOODWILL MESSAGE:
May this week meet you with fresh grace, quiet strength, and gentle reminders that God is walking every step of your journey with you.

    HAPPY FANTASTIC SUNDAY
    HAVE A REWARDING WEEK.

THIS WEEK, YOU ARE A WINNER!
    SHALOM.

    JESUS LOVES YOU; AND,
    HE TRULY CARES FOR YOU.

    STRENGTH OR NO STRENGTH!
    JESUS IS COMING BACK AGAIN!!
REPENT AND BE READY FOR HIM!!!
