🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 225 DATE: 13TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..." Devotional message: As agents of change and deliverers of our generation, opposition will not be the only challenge we encounter. Along the journey, we will also meet people who will discourage us, question our credibility, doubt our abilities, or convince us that the assignment before us is impossible.When this happens, we must learn to keep our eyes on Jesus. Peter began to sink when he shifted his attention from Jesus to the strength of the wind and the waves. His perception of the situation became greater than their perception of God, and fear eventually overcame their faith. Child of God, what you continually gaze upon will influence what you believe. If you constantly listen to the negative voices of people, opposition, past failures, and the magnitude of the assignment, you may eventually lose courage. But when your eyes remain fixed on Jesus, your faith is strengthened because you remember that the One who called you is greater than whatever stands before you. The fact that someone else failed does not mean that you will fail. The fact that someone could not accomplish something does not mean that God cannot accomplish it through you. Their limitations are not God's limitations. Paul confidently declared, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Our confidence is therefore not in our ability but in the One who works through us. Never allow the opinions of men to become louder than the Word of God in your heart. Never allow opposition to make you abandon an assignment God has entrusted to you. Keep looking unto Jesus, because He is both the Author and Finisher of your faith. And remember this: you alone may fail, but you and Jesus cannot fail when you remain surrendered to His will and dependent upon His strength. What God begins, He is able to bring to completion (Philippians 1:6). Therefore, arise and continue. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep His Word in your heart. Keep walking in obedience. The size of the opposition does not determine the outcome; the God who stands with you does. Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 1 August 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar. Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear … (1 Peter 3:15) Always ready When the faithful astrophysicist whom we read about yesterday lay in the hospital with severe heart problems, he had an opportunity to confess the Lord Jesus. Five pastors visited him. Four of them doubted the credibility of the Word of God. After investigation, he discovered that their disbelief was based on science.  So, he asked, “Have you ever talked to a believing scientist about this?” – “No,” was the answer, “there is no such person!” – “But you are talking to a scientist who is a believer in Christ,” replied the astrophysicist.  God has entrusted the testimony about the Saviour to human beings and not to the angels. As those who have experienced salvation ourselves, we should bear witness to the Saviour Jesus Christ. Sometimes He expects a confession from us when we least expect it. That’s why Peter urges us in today’s verse to always be ready to give an account of our relationship with Christ. Occasionally, in everyday life, an opportunity arises to testify in a friendly and respectful way about our faith in the Lord Jesus.  Peter knew that because of this we may be despised or even laughed at. He encourages us to remain steadfast witnesses despite these sufferings:  “If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you …” (1 Peter 4:14). EXPERIENCE BEYOND THE SCARS Text: Epistle to the Romans 8:28; Second Epistle to the Corinthians 4:8–10; Book of Genesis 50:20 Introduction Scars tell stories. Every scar is evidence that there was once a wound. Some scars are physical, while others are emotional, spiritual, relational, or financial. Although scars remind us of painful experiences, they do not have to define our future. God specializes in taking wounded people and giving them experiences that transcend their scars. He does not merely heal; He transforms pain into purpose, setbacks into testimonies, and brokenness into ministry. Your scars may explain where you have been, but they do not determine where God is taking you. 1. Scars Are Evidence of Survival, Not Defeat Every scar declares, "I survived." Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Those experiences left emotional scars, yet God elevated him to become the governor of Egypt. Lesson: Your survival is proof that God has preserved you for a greater assignment. Key Scripture: Genesis 50:20 "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good..." 2. God Gives Experiences That Outshine the Pain God does not erase every memory, but He gives new experiences that overshadow old wounds. Examples: • Joseph's palace outweighed his prison. • Hannah's Samuel outweighed her years of barrenness. • Job's restoration outweighed his suffering. • Peter's Pentecost outweighed his denial. When God moves, your testimony becomes greater than your tragedy. 3. Scars Become Credentials for Ministry People trust those who have walked through what they are facing. Paul's suffering gave credibility to his ministry. Your greatest ministry may emerge from your deepest wound. What once embarrassed you may become the platform through which God blesses others. 4. God Changes the Meaning of Your Scars A scar no longer bleeds; it represents healing. Jesus still bore the scars of His crucifixion after His resurrection. Those scars were no longer signs of defeat but proofs of victory and redemption. Likewise, God can transform your scars into reminders of His grace and faithfulness. 5. Experience Beyond the Scars Requires Faith Moving beyond scars means refusing to remain trapped in yesterday's pain. Faith enables you to: • Trust God despite disappointment. • Love after betrayal. • Hope after failure. • Dream again after loss. • Serve after rejection. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to move from surviving to thriving. Biblical Examples • Joseph — Betrayal to leadership. • David — Rejection to kingship. • Ruth — Loss to legacy. • Peter — Failure to fearless preaching. • Paul — Persecution to powerful ministry. • Jesus — Crucifixion to resurrection glory. Keys to Experiencing Life Beyond the Scars 1. Forgive those who wounded you. 2. Release the past into God's hands. 3. Allow God to heal your heart. 4. Embrace the new season God is bringing. 5. Use your testimony to strengthen others. Conclusion God never intended your scars to become your identity. They are chapters in your story, not the title of your life. The same God who brought Joseph from the pit to the palace, Peter from failure to Pentecost, and Jesus from the cross to the empty tomb is able to give you experiences that far exceed your scars. Talent may open a door, but discipline keeps it open. Opportunity may start a journey, but discipline determines how far you go. Discipline is a multiplier because it takes what you already have and increases its effectiveness. A little knowledge with discipline becomes expertise. A small gift with discipline becomes excellence. A modest income with discipline becomes wealth. A basic prayer life with discipline becomes spiritual authority. Practical Ways to Build Discipline • Start with small commitments. • Create daily routines. • Remove distractions. • Track your progress. • Be accountable to someone. • Keep going even when motivation is low. Remember: Motivation gets you started; discipline keeps you moving. A Powerful Truth Imagine two people with the same talent. • One practices occasionally. • The other practices every day. After one year, the difference is noticeable. After five years, the difference is dramatic. After ten years, they appear to be in different categories. The multiplier was not talent; it was discipline. Conclusion Discipline is not punishment; it is the pathway to multiplication. DAY'S REFLECTION God desires His children to be people of noble character whose lives are marked by generosity, integrity, and good works. Isaiah declares that a noble person plans noble things and remains steadfast because of those honourable decisions. Our actions are often the result of the values we have cultivated in our hearts. When our motives are pure, our lives become a blessing to others. Paul instructed Titus to set an example in every area of life. Sound teaching must be accompanied by a lifestyle of sincerity, dignity, and integrity. People are more likely to believe the message of the gospel when they see it reflected in the lives of those who proclaim it. Our daily conduct either strengthens or weakens our witness for Christ. Imagine a respected community leader who is known for fairness, honesty, and generosity. When disagreements arise, people naturally seek that person's counsel because years of consistent character have earned their trust. Likewise, believers who consistently practise kindness, truthfulness, and humility become trusted witnesses whose lives point others to Christ. Every day presents opportunities to choose what is noble rather than what is convenient. Whether at home, at work, in school, or in ministry, let your words, attitudes, and actions reflect the character of Jesus. A life of good works may not always receive immediate recognition, but it will always bring glory to God and leave an enduring influence on others. Sometimes Ministry Requires Sacrifice Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 9:18 that at times he preached without receiving payment so that no one could accuse him of using the Gospel for personal gain. There are seasons when God may ask His servant to minister freely. The servant of God should never allow financial reward to determine whether he obeys God's assignment. Provision comes from God, not manipulation. 6. Never Commercialize the Gospel The Gospel is God's free gift to humanity. Jesus freely gave His life. Salvation cannot be bought. Forgiveness cannot be sold. Deliverance is not merchandise. Miracles are acts of God's mercy, not products for sale. The Kingdom of God must never become a marketplace. 7. Live Before You Preach Paul said he commended himself to every man's conscience. People do not only hear sermons; they observe lives. Our character should confirm our message. Integrity gives power to preaching. Holiness gives authority to ministry. Prophetic Declarations Lift your hands and receive these declarations by faith: My heart shall remain pure before God. I shall never preach for selfish gain. My ministry shall glorify Jesus Christ alone. Every spirit of greed is broken over my life. I receive grace to preach with boldness and sincerity. The Holy Spirit shall preserve my integrity until the end. I shall never compromise the truth for financial reward. God shall provide for me according to His riches in glory. My life shall be a testimony of holiness and faithfulness. I shall finish my ministry with honor and hear the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Conclusion The ministry belongs to Christ. We are only stewards of what He has entrusted to us. Let every servant of God continually examine his heart and ask: Why am I preaching? Who am I serving? Whose glory am I seeking? May our answer always be: "For Christ alone. For His glory alone. For the salvation of souls alone." Let us preach the Gospel with sincerity, humility, compassion, and unwavering faithfulness until the Lord Jesus Christ returns. Amen.

In today's text, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and the Scribes for prioritising human traditions over God's commandments, highlighting their hypocrisy and lip service, which is spiritual emptiness. Jesus emphasised that true worship comes from a heart that reveres God and not just outward observance of the law. One may be committed to regular giving of tithes, supporting church missions and projects, and even participating in evangelism. However, if a person's heart is not inclined with God's will or living in obedience to His word, they are spiritually empty. Therefore, do not give God your material things and deny Him your heart. On Christmas Eve, they broadcast a live message to millions around the world, reading the opening verses of Genesis. Their message was not secondhand information; they spoke as eyewitnesses of a breathtaking experience that changed their perspective of the earth and the Creator. Their testimony carried weight because they had personally experienced what they proclaimed. Likewise, Apostle John did not write about Jesus as a philosopher discussing theories or as a historian reporting distant events. He wrote as an eyewitness who had seen, heard, touched, and lived with the Son of God. His message was based on personal experience and he desired that others would enjoy the same fellowship and joy in Christ. Christianity is not merely learning about Christ—it is knowing Him personally and making Him known faithfully. Walking with Christ brings joyful fellowship with God and His people. John's opening words remind us that Christianity is built upon a real Person—Jesus Christ. The apostles did not invent a message; they testified to the One they had personally known. This passage challenges every believer to examine three vital questions: Do I truly know Christ personally?Am I faithfully making Him known to others? Am I enjoying the fullness of fellowship and joy that He offers? Many people know facts about Jesus Christ without knowing Him intimately. Others profess faith, but seldom share Him. Still others serve faithfully, but have lost the joy of fellowship. John writes to correct all three deficiencies. When we continually, behold Christ, we naturally, proclaim Christ. When we proclaim Christ, others are brought into fellowship. And when fellowship with God deepens, joy becomes complete. May our lives become living testimonies of the One who is the Word of Life. *For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.* (Philippians 1:21) *1. The Reality of the Living Word* a. John emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the eternal Word of Life, fully revealed to humanity. The description of the eternity of Christ dates back to the pre-creation of the earth. Jesus existed from the beginning. He is the eternal God, not merely a great teacher. *“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”* (John 1:1). b. John repeatedly emphasizes that he heard, saw, observed, and touched Jesus Christ. The gospel rests on historical reality. *“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you.”* (Acts 4:20) c. Jesus was manifested so that humanity could know the invisible God. Our faith rests upon the historical, living and eternal Christ—not myths, emotions or human traditions. *Questions* (i) Is my faith rooted in the living Christ or merely in religious activities? (ii) Do I continually seek a deeper knowledge of Jesus through His Word? *2. The Responsibility of the Faithful Witness* a. John declares that what he experienced personally, he now proclaims publicly. This is an impetus to declaring the Gospel boldly. John the apostle understood that genuine faith naturally, leads to faithful witness. *“Go into all the world and preach the gospel.”* (Mark 16:15) b. It is the duty of every Christian to draw others into Fellowship with God and with fellow believers. The goal of evangelism is not merely conversion, but fellowship with God and His people. This is clearly spelt out in the Scripture *“Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”* — (1 John 1:3). c. The credibility of our message is strengthened by a life that reflects Christ. Every believer is called to proclaim Christ through both faithful words and consistent living. *"Let your light so shine before men...”* (Matthew 5:16) *Questions* (i). Am I intentionally sharing Christ with those around me? (ii) Does my daily life strengthen or weaken my Christian testimony? *3. The Reward of Lasting Fellowship* a. John writes so that believers may experience complete joy through fellowship with God. This signals the blessings of communion with God. True joy grows out of intimate fellowship with God. b. The beauty of the Christian Community can only be best experienced with your active participation and not as a spectator. Believers are called to encourage and strengthen one another. *“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.”* (Hebrews 10:25) c. Joy is the natural result of walking closely with Christ. *“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full .”*(John 15:11) God desires His children to experience not only salvation, but also joyful fellowship with Him and with one another. *Questions* (i) Is my relationship with Christ growing deeper each day? (ii) Am I contributing to unity and fellowship within God's family? *Prayer Points* 1.
