  • THE PILGRIMS GUIDE

    THURSDAY JULY 23, 2026

    CREATED FOR HIS PLEASURE 1

    A WORD FROM THE WORD:

    “You are worthy, O LORD, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11NKJV.

    When the purpose of a thing is not known or discovered, abuse is inevitable. Some people are in the world without knowing why God created them. They feel that they exist for themselves, and they therefore personalise things and map out plans on their own without involving God.
    You hear them use words like 'My life, my house, my car, my money etc.' They also state 'I will travel to XYZ city for my next summer holidays, I will also visit my friend, go to the wedding from there and return the next day.' all these plans without adding 'by God's grace.'

    James, the beloved has this to say, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, 'Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit'; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, if the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.' (James 4:13-16)

    Furthermore, our anchor Scripture tells us the purpose of our being created. It says 'You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.' (KJV). Yes. God created us for His pleasure, this means that all we do ought to be pleasing to, and glorifying Him. These include the way we think, relate with Him, relate with others, and use our God given resources.

    PRAYER BULLETS:

    ABBA Father, I am grateful for how You made me; fearfully and wonderfully. Engrace me further to live out the purpose of my creation.

    FURTHER READING:

    Ephesians 2:1-10.

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SATURDAY JULY 18, 2026.
    "LOOKING GOOD, OR DOING GOOD?"

    '…Jesus…went about doing good…’  Acts 10:38 NKJV

    THE BIBLE says, ‘God anointed Jesus…with the Holy Spirit and with power, Who went about doing good…’ When you’re led by God’s Spirit, your focus won’t be on looking good, but on doing good. You say, ‘But I’m so busy!’ Nobody was busier than Jesus, yet He always responded to those in need. In Luke chapter 10 He tells of a Jewish traveller who was attacked by a gang and left to die by the road. First a Levite, then a priest passed by. But each had important appointments to keep, so they didn’t stop. Then a Samaritan came along. Now, he had every reason to look the other way, because the Jews and the Samaritans were long-standing enemies. Instead, ‘…He…came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion’ (Luke 10:33 NKJV). Compassion will make you stop and rearrange your priorities. This Samaritan realised that where he was at that moment was more important than his next appointment. What would you have done that day? Do you think you’d have acted like him? How about when God tries to interrupt your inflexible, tightly-organised, written-in-concrete schedule and asks you to make time for someone who’s hurting? Are you willing to forgo your plans and do what He wants? If you’re too busy to reach out to those who are hurting, you’re too busy! You say, ‘But I’m shy around people.’ Then start with the people you know in your local church. ‘Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith’ (Galatians 6:10 NKJV).

    *CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:ACTS 8:1-4```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles" (ACTS 8:1).*_

    *On its website, _Open Doors International,_ the Christian organisation, published its report on persecution of believers in 2024. The report showed that 4,476 Christians were murdered, 7,679 churches and Christian properties attacked and 4,744 Christians imprisoned across the globe. "In _Open Doors' World Watch List_ top 50 alone, 310 million Christians face very high or extreme levels of persecutions and discriminations for their faith", the report said. Christian persecution is real in our world today.*

    *The early Church also faced persecution as we read from today's Bible passage. The horrible death of Stephen by public stoning in Acts 7 triggered a wave of serious persecutions led by Saul. While the church was mourning over the death of the young preacher, Saul "...made havok of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison" (Acts 8:3). The believers had no choice but to scatter and flee Jerusalem to safety. The good news though is that the scattering helped them to take the gospel to new locations.*

    *Jesus warned the disciples to prepare for persecution in their journey of faith. He said, "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service" (John 16:1, 2). Persecution is normal in the Christian race, but the grace of God is also available to see us through to the end.*

    *Since we may not be able to avoid persecution, what can we do? We must, like the early Church, develop effective survival strategies. These include prayerfulness, endurance, maintaining a joyful disposition and readiness to spread the gospel anywhere life takes us. We must also raise sound and committed disciples who are ready to labour anywhere and everywhere for the Master.*

    *Strength renewal in our text is predicated on waiting upon the Lord. For health and healing, man applies, natural, medical or spiritual means. These are aimed at helping man to function well. In life, renewal is the way to go if one wants to function optimally. Some trees shed their leaves seasonally and grow new ones to function better.*

    *Farmers and wood cutters sharpen their blunting axes or machetes for ease of work. Students have siesta, mid-term breaks and holidays to renew the mind and body for excellent academic work. Also, machines are serviced regularly to prevent breakdown and for proper performance. Christians should follow godly principles for renewal of strength.*

    *Dear friend, God's word says, "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength." Jehovah gives power and strength. How do we obtain them from Him? By just waiting upon Him. Wait by being silent before Him. Wait by reading and meditating on His word. Wait by praying and worshipping Him. However, sleep, rest, proper eating and exercise are also godly means of strength renewal.*

    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (1 Thessalonians 4:17).*_
    The rapture is the catching away of believers to meet Jesus in the air when the trumpet sounds. It will be a signal of the end of time. Only true friends of Jesus will hear this sound and go to meet Him in the clouds. Those who were friends of Jesus before they died will also hear the sound and rise from their graves to meet Jesus in the clouds. The marriage supper of the Lamb will take place there.
    Sinners and backsliders will remain on earth to suffer under the reign of the antichrist for seven (7) years. The torment, torture and agony will be much, it would be unbearable. You must endeavour to escape that terrible time because there will be no time for delay, because it is dangerous to do so. *How will you prepare for the rapture?*
    *- Know yourself as a sinner.*
    *- Repent of your sins, confess them to God.*
    *- Ask for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus.*
    *- Invite Jesus into your life as Saviour and Lord.*
    *Begin to live for Christ by reading your Bible and praying every day. Tell others about Jesus. Live every day in holiness so that you will not miss the rapture.*
    *CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION: A BLESSING IN DISGUISE*
    *TEXT:* ACTS 8:1-4.
    1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the Church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
    2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
    3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
    4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
    *Timeless Truth:*_"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"_ (Acts 16:33).
    *INTRODUCTION*
    Have you ever experienced a serious persecution before? If no, then you are missing some divine blessings in your life. There is no genuine Christian, living the true Christian life that will not face some persecutions in some shape or form as a result of his faith or profession. Persecution has always been part of the Christian experience. Jesus warned His disciples that the world would hate them because it hated Him first (John 15:18–20). Yet God turns what the enemy intends for destruction into an instrument for purification, expansion and spiritual growth. The persecution that arose after Stephen's martyrdom scattered the believers, but it also spread the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Thus, persecution is never the end of God's work; it is often the beginning of a greater harvest.
    *1.Persecutions for Perfection*
    Persecution comes in different forms ranging from ridicule, deprivations, denials of rights, mockery, rejection and more violent despicable attacks from anybody for the sake of Christ. The Word of Christ on persecution is "when" and not "if", showing that every true believer will always experience it. The persecution He is referring to is as a result of living and standing for the truth. *"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"*. Those who never faced persecution or faced, but dodge it cannot claim to be righteous, but compromisers. They cannot claim to be Christlike, but betrayers of the cause of Christ. Such cannot enter heaven. Jesus further gave explanations on the nature of inescapable persecutions of christians and the blessings on them. *"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake"*. What should be our attitude towards persecutions? Our attitude will bring out or foreclose the blessings. *"Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you"* (Matthew 5:10-12). Persecutions make the believer to be more mature in the faith, help him to separate the wheat from the chaff in his Christian journey and produce Christ's virtue of Christlikeness and Christian perfections. Though it may not be pleasant and the persecutors are deceived to believe that they are achieving their evil objectives, yet God deliberately allowed it for the good of the Christian. Afterall, Jesus also was persecuted. Persecution is the badge of unfeigned and uncompromising faith in Christ.
    b. *"And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem..."*
    The early Church had enjoyed remarkable growth, fellowship and miracles. However, God allowed persecution to refine His people and moved them beyond their comfort zone. Spiritual maturity is often forged in the furnace of affliction. Trials expose genuine faith, produce perseverance and deepen dependence upon God (James 1:2–4; Romans 5:3–5). Instead of destroying the Church, persecution strengthened it and fulfilled Christ's command to take the gospel beyond Jerusalem (Acts 1:8). Believers should not interpret persecution as God's abandonment, but as an opportunity for spiritual perfection and greater usefulness in His kingdom.
    *Question*
    How have life's difficulties refined your faith and drawn you closer to Christ rather than away from Him?
    *2.Persecutors without Prudence*
    a. The persecutors lack wisdom. If satanic hosts and his human agents that they used to cause persecutions were wise, they would not have crucified Jesus and neither would they have persecuted the saints. *"Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory"*. If the Satanic host had known that the death of Stephen would open the door for the spread of the gospel, they would not have kill Stephen. Persecutions are heralds of revivals. *"As for Saul, he made havoc of the church..."* Saul zealously persecuted Christians, believing he was serving God. Religious passion without divine truth can become destructive.
    b. While godly men buried Stephen with honour, Saul violently entered homes, arrested believers and committed them to prison. His actions remind us that ignorance of God's will, even when clothed in sincerity, can lead to cruelty and injustice.
    Persecutors often fail to realize that they are resisting God's purposes. Yet God's grace is so abundant that even Saul, the chief persecutor, later became Paul, the great apostle of Christ. This demonstrates that no enemy is beyond God's transforming power. A persecutor is a potential convert when the persecuted learn to pray, praise and practice true Christianity in the midst of persecutions.
    *Question*
    Are your convictions producing Christlike compassion or do they encourage harshness and intolerance toward others?
    *3.Preaching during Persecutions*
    a. The disciples, including the Apostles, were satisfied with their comfort zone and did not see the need to take the gospel to unreached places. The Lord allowed the persecution to awaken them to His plan and purpose for them which is preaching the gospel. God at times allows persecutions to direct the believer to refocus on His divine purpose for them. *"Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word."* Who scattered them- God or Satan? The scattered believers did not retreat into silence or despair. At times the ignorance of believers makes them blaming Satan when it is God that is actually at work. They, instead, wherever they went, they proclaimed the gospel. Their circumstances changed, but their mission did not. Persecution became the vehicle through which Christianity spread into new territories.
    b. Faithful believers do not wait for favourable conditions before serving God. Whether in peace or adversity, they remain committed to proclaiming Christ. Difficult seasons often create the greatest opportunities for the gospel to shine.
    *Question*
    Do challenges discourage you from witnessing for Christ or do they motivate you to trust Him and proclaim His truth more boldly?
    *Prayer Points*
    1.Father, grant me the grace to remain faithful and steadfast whenever I face persecution for Christ's sake .
    2.Lord, use every trial in my life to perfect my faith, strengthen my character and increase my usefulness in Your kingdom .
    3.Lord, fill me with boldness to preach Your Word faithfully in every circumstance, regardless of hardship or persecution .
    5.Father, turn every opposition against the gospel into an opportunity for greater evangelism and revival
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ⏤ James 1:17
    In prayer, it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. ⏤ John Bunyan
    Our Father, breathe on us and give us a morning blessing. We thank You for keeping us through the night. We thank You for the blessings that came to us even while we slept. As a new day has dawned, may new divine light and peace pour into our lives. Fill our path with gladness. We ask You to provide our daily bread today. We don’t ask for luxury—just for what we need. May Your blessing be on everything we receive. We ask for the strength to do our work so we can earn the food we need. Open our eyes so we can see You as the Giver of all the good things we enjoy. Sometimes we forget that these blessings come from Your hand. We think we’ve gotten them by our own efforts. Show us that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and give us grateful hearts.
    We want to live cheerfully today. Sometimes we complain and grumble about the little trials that come our way. Forgive us for all our complaining and give us hearts that are always thankful. You’ve promised that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Help us believe this promise, and when we face trials and losses, help us still rejoice, knowing that Your hand will bring good out of every situation. Help us trust You in all things, laying our cares in Your hands and leaving them there without anxiety.
    You’ve promised to be with us always. Fulfill that promise for us today. We can’t go out into this new day without Your presence. We ask You to walk beside us, giving us Your protection, guidance, and help. We’ve never traveled this path before, and we can’t find the way on our own. We ask all this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
And at that time there was a great persecution against the Church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. 3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. 4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. *Timeless Truth:*_"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"_ (Acts 16:33). *INTRODUCTION* Have you ever experienced a serious persecution before? If no, then you are missing some divine blessings in your life. There is no genuine Christian, living the true Christian life that will not face some persecutions in some shape or form as a result of his faith or profession. Persecution has always been part of the Christian experience. Jesus warned His disciples that the world would hate them because it hated Him first (John 15:18–20). Yet God turns what the enemy intends for destruction into an instrument for purification, expansion and spiritual growth. The persecution that arose after Stephen's martyrdom scattered the believers, but it also spread the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Thus, persecution is never the end of God's work; it is often the beginning of a greater harvest. *1.Persecutions for Perfection* Persecution comes in different forms ranging from ridicule, deprivations, denials of rights, mockery, rejection and more violent despicable attacks from anybody for the sake of Christ. The Word of Christ on persecution is "when" and not "if", showing that every true believer will always experience it. The persecution He is referring to is as a result of living and standing for the truth. *"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"*. Those who never faced persecution or faced, but dodge it cannot claim to be righteous, but compromisers. They cannot claim to be Christlike, but betrayers of the cause of Christ. Such cannot enter heaven. Jesus further gave explanations on the nature of inescapable persecutions of christians and the blessings on them. *"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake"*. What should be our attitude towards persecutions? Our attitude will bring out or foreclose the blessings. *"Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you"* (Matthew 5:10-12). Persecutions make the believer to be more mature in the faith, help him to separate the wheat from the chaff in his Christian journey and produce Christ's virtue of Christlikeness and Christian perfections. Though it may not be pleasant and the persecutors are deceived to believe that they are achieving their evil objectives, yet God deliberately allowed it for the good of the Christian. Afterall, Jesus also was persecuted. Persecution is the badge of unfeigned and uncompromising faith in Christ. b. *"And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem..."* The early Church had enjoyed remarkable growth, fellowship and miracles. However, God allowed persecution to refine His people and moved them beyond their comfort zone. Spiritual maturity is often forged in the furnace of affliction. Trials expose genuine faith, produce perseverance and deepen dependence upon God (James 1:2–4; Romans 5:3–5). Instead of destroying the Church, persecution strengthened it and fulfilled Christ's command to take the gospel beyond Jerusalem (Acts 1:8). Believers should not interpret persecution as God's abandonment, but as an opportunity for spiritual perfection and greater usefulness in His kingdom. *Question* How have life's difficulties refined your faith and drawn you closer to Christ rather than away from Him? *2.Persecutors without Prudence* a. The persecutors lack wisdom. If satanic hosts and his human agents that they used to cause persecutions were wise, they would not have crucified Jesus and neither would they have persecuted the saints. *"Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory"*. If the Satanic host had known that the death of Stephen would open the door for the spread of the gospel, they would not have kill Stephen. Persecutions are heralds of revivals. *"As for Saul, he made havoc of the church..."* Saul zealously persecuted Christians, believing he was serving God. Religious passion without divine truth can become destructive. b. While godly men buried Stephen with honour, Saul violently entered homes, arrested believers and committed them to prison. His actions remind us that ignorance of God's will, even when clothed in sincerity, can lead to cruelty and injustice. Persecutors often fail to realize that they are resisting God's purposes. Yet God's grace is so abundant that even Saul, the chief persecutor, later became Paul, the great apostle of Christ. This demonstrates that no enemy is beyond God's transforming power. A persecutor is a potential convert when the persecuted learn to pray, praise and practice true Christianity in the midst of persecutions. *Question* Are your convictions producing Christlike compassion or do they encourage harshness and intolerance toward others? *3.Preaching during Persecutions* a. The disciples, including the Apostles, were satisfied with their comfort zone and did not see the need to take the gospel to unreached places. The Lord allowed the persecution to awaken them to His plan and purpose for them which is preaching the gospel. God at times allows persecutions to direct the believer to refocus on His divine purpose for them. *"Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word."* Who scattered them- God or Satan? The scattered believers did not retreat into silence or despair. At times the ignorance of believers makes them blaming Satan when it is God that is actually at work. They, instead, wherever they went, they proclaimed the gospel. Their circumstances changed, but their mission did not. Persecution became the vehicle through which Christianity spread into new territories. b. Faithful believers do not wait for favourable conditions before serving God. Whether in peace or adversity, they remain committed to proclaiming Christ. Difficult seasons often create the greatest opportunities for the gospel to shine. *Question* Do challenges discourage you from witnessing for Christ or do they motivate you to trust Him and proclaim His truth more boldly? *Prayer Points* 1.Father, grant me the grace to remain faithful and steadfast whenever I face persecution for Christ's sake 🙏. 2.Lord, use every trial in my life to perfect my faith, strengthen my character and increase my usefulness in Your kingdom 🙏. 3.Lord, fill me with boldness to preach Your Word faithfully in every circumstance, regardless of hardship or persecution 🙏. 5.Father, turn every opposition against the gospel into an opportunity for greater evangelism and revival🙏 *HYMN:* Hold the fort *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 5-7. 2. Morning Prayer for today. MP.i. Morning Prayer Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ⏤ James 1:17 In prayer, it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. ⏤ John Bunyan Our Father, breathe on us and give us a morning blessing. We thank You for keeping us through the night. We thank You for the blessings that came to us even while we slept. As a new day has dawned, may new divine light and peace pour into our lives. Fill our path with gladness. We ask You to provide our daily bread today. We don’t ask for luxury—just for what we need. May Your blessing be on everything we receive. We ask for the strength to do our work so we can earn the food we need. Open our eyes so we can see You as the Giver of all the good things we enjoy. Sometimes we forget that these blessings come from Your hand. We think we’ve gotten them by our own efforts. Show us that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and give us grateful hearts. We want to live cheerfully today. Sometimes we complain and grumble about the little trials that come our way. Forgive us for all our complaining and give us hearts that are always thankful. You’ve promised that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Help us believe this promise, and when we face trials and losses, help us still rejoice, knowing that Your hand will bring good out of every situation. Help us trust You in all things, laying our cares in Your hands and leaving them there without anxiety. You’ve promised to be with us always. Fulfill that promise for us today. We can’t go out into this new day without Your presence. We ask You to walk beside us, giving us Your protection, guidance, and help. We’ve never traveled this path before, and we can’t find the way on our own. We ask all this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/13/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.
  • The Spirit of Unnatural Mourning
    “When Grief Refuses to Leave.”
    There is a difference between mourning and living in perpetual mourning.
    God created mourning as a healthy process to help us heal after loss. However, when grief becomes your identity, steals your joy, isolates you from others, and keeps you from moving forward long after the loss, it may indicate spiritual oppression that needs to be addressed.
    The enemy cannot always stop what God has done, so he will often try to keep you emotionally imprisoned by what happened.
    Signs You May Be Dealing with Unnatural Mourning
    * You are unable to move forward years after a loss.
    * You relive painful memories every day without relief.
    * You feel guilty whenever you experience happiness.
    * You isolate yourself from family, church, and healthy relationships.
    * You constantly expect tragedy to happen again.
    * Your joy has disappeared, and sorrow has become your normal state.
    * You have lost hope for your future because of your past.
    Biblical Foundation
    * Isaiah teaches that the Messiah came to give “the garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness.” Many understand the “spirit of heaviness” as oppressive sorrow that weighs a person down.
    * Psalm declares, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Grief has a season, but God also promises restoration.
    * Ecclesiastes reminds us there is “a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Remaining permanently in mourning is not God’s desire.
    Modern Examples
    * Someone lost a loved one ten years ago but still cannot enter the room where they passed away and refuses to celebrate holidays or birthdays.
    * A person experienced a divorce years ago but still believes they are unworthy of love and rejects every healthy relationship.
    * A parent lost a child and becomes consumed by fear, unable to enjoy their remaining children because they expect another tragedy.
    * Someone experienced a major betrayal and continues mourning the relationship so deeply that they cannot trust anyone, even those who have proven faithful.
    Deliverance Focus
    You must discern whether you are experiencing healthy grief or spiritual oppression. God heals broken hearts, but He also breaks the power of anything that seeks to keep you imprisoned in sorrow.
    Jesus came not only to comfort those who mourn but to restore joy, hope, and purpose.
    Prayer:
    Father, in the name of Jesus, I renounce every spirit of heaviness and every form of unnatural mourning that has tried to keep me bound in sorrow. I receive Your comfort, healing, and restoration. I choose to release the past into Your hands and receive the oil of joy instead of mourning and the garment of praise instead of heaviness. Restore my hope, renew my strength, and let the joy of the Lord become my strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
  • Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
    Today’s verse is not one we typically focus on outside of the Christmas season, but the Bible is relevant any day of the year, whether in the middle of summer or around the holidays.
    The book of Isaiah was written around 700 BC and in it the prophet Isaiah gave a promise that was originally meant to give comfort to the people of Israel during a time of political instability and threat. The promise of a coming earthly king who would rescue the nation was a comfort to the people and something they eagerly awaited and looked forward to. But they did not realize just what this prophecy meant. This coming king would not be one who ruled over their nation. He would be so much more than that.
    One of the names He was given in this prophecy was Prince of Peace. This is directly translated from the Hebrew words Sar Shalom. Sar implies that He would be a leader or a ruler, while shalom was more than just the absence of conflict, which is what we typically think of when we use the English word peace - it was wholeness and completeness. The Prince of Peace or Sar Shalom would be the One who would reconcile people to God and who would establish an eternal kingdom.
    What are some ways we can be living a life of peace while we await the return of the Prince of Peace and His earthly rule?
    So much of what we do stems from what we think. It begins there, in the mind. If our mind is not focused on the right things, on the right Person and His ways, we will not be living in peace. We need to guard our minds and fill it with His Word, with praise and worship, and foster a sense of calm and peace in our lives.
    Embrace peace with those who you are at odds with. Where there is offense, set things straight. Seek reconciliation. Be the first to apologize. Offer forgiveness and restore broken relationships. Life is too short to let conflict interrupt fellowship.
    And live for Him. Live a life that is pleasing to God. Seek His ways, His will, His purpose for your life. Seek to be set apart and righteous. Let His peace fill your heart, your mind, your soul. Let His peace rule in your life, as one day He will rule this world.
    What other ways can you think of to bring peace into your life?
  • The Advent Truth
    This is a common claim, but it overlooks an important biblical distinction.
    The Bible itself differentiates between God’s eternal moral law and the ceremonial system that pointed forward to Christ.
    The Ten Commandments were written by God’s own finger on stone and placed inside the ark (Exodus 31:18; 40:20). They reveal God’s character, define sin, and remain the standard by which humanity is judged (Romans 7:7; James 2:10-12).
    The ceremonial laws—including sacrifices, priesthood regulations, feast days, and ritual ordinances—were written by Moses in a book and placed beside the ark (Deuteronomy 31:26). These were added because of sin and pointed forward to the coming Messiah (Galatians 3:19).
    The annual feasts were not random holidays. They were prophetic rehearsals of the plan of salvation.
    The sanctuary services were visual prophecies of the gospel.
    The question is this: once the reality arrives, do we still need the shadow?
    Paul answers:
    “Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” (Colossians 2:17)
    No Christian today believes we must still sacrifice lambs. Why? Because Christ is the Lamb of God.
    The same principle applies to the feast system. The feasts were never the substance; they pointed to the substance.
    Hebrews repeatedly teaches that the ceremonial system was a “figure,” a “pattern,” and a “shadow” of heavenly realities. Christ fulfilled what those ceremonies represented.
    Ironically, the sanctuary itself teaches this distinction.
    The courtyard points to what Christ did for us at the cross.
    The Holy Place points to what Christ does in us through His ministry.
    The Most Holy Place points to where Christ will ultimately take us.
    The symbols mattered because they pointed to Jesus. But once Jesus came, the focus shifted from the shadow to the Savior.
    This doesn’t mean God’s law was abolished. Far from it. The moral law still defines sin, and grace empowers obedience.
    But the ceremonial system served its purpose. It was the gospel in symbols until the Messiah arrived.
  • Happy Father's Day.
    And as with most holidays, I know today lands a little differently depending on who is reading this.
    For some of you, today is easy. You get to call your dad. Maybe you'll have a barbecue. Maybe you'll sit around telling stories that have somehow gotten slightly more dramatic every year they've been told. Maybe you'll laugh about old family memories and roll your eyes at the same dad jokes you've heard for decades. Those are gifts. Don't take them for granted.
    For some of you, though, today hurts.
    Maybe your dad is already Home. Maybe Father's Day means remembering a man whose voice you can still hear in your head even though it's been years since you've heard it with your ears. Maybe it means wishing you could ask one more question, hear one more story, get one more piece of advice, or just sit across the table from him one more time.
    And for some people, Father's Day is hard for a completely different reason. Not because your father is gone, but because the relationship was never what it should have been. Not everyone has memories filled with support, encouragement, and safety. Sometimes Father's Day can feel less like a celebration and more like a reminder of what should have been but wasn't.
    Then there are the men who desperately wanted children and never had them. The fathers who have buried a son or daughter. The grandfathers who miss the grandkids who moved away. The stepdads wondering if the children they helped raise really know how much they love them. The foster dads who opened their homes and hearts knowing goodbyes would eventually come. The men who became father figures simply because a kid needed somebody to show up.
    Many of the most important things fathers do aren't the big dramatic moments. They're the thousands of ordinary ones.
    It's getting up and going to work when you'd rather stay home. It's fixing things nobody notices unless they break. It's carrying burdens quietly. It's teaching a child how to work, how to keep their word, how to treat people, how to pray, how to keep going when life gets hard.
    It's being tired and showing up anyway.
    A lot of fathers don't get thanked nearly enough.
    The funny thing is that when we're kids, we assume our parents know everything. Then we become adults and realize they were figuring things out as they went, just like the rest of us. They made mistakes. They worried more than we knew. They carried responsibilities we never saw. And somehow, despite all that, many of them kept putting one foot in front of the other and doing the best they could.
    So today, if your dad is still here, give him a call.
    If he's already Home, spend a few minutes remembering him.
    If Father's Day is painful, know that you're not alone.
    And to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, foster dads, adoptive dads, and father figures out there: thank you.
    The world changes because ordinary men choose, day after day, to love, lead, provide, protect, teach, and show up.
    That may not always make headlines.
    But it matters more than most people realize.
Maybe your dad is already Home. Maybe Father's Day means remembering a man whose voice you can still hear in your head even though it's been years since you've heard it with your ears. Maybe it means wishing you could ask one more question, hear one more story, get one more piece of advice, or just sit across the table from him one more time. And for some people, Father's Day is hard for a completely different reason. Not because your father is gone, but because the relationship was never what it should have been. Not everyone has memories filled with support, encouragement, and safety. Sometimes Father's Day can feel less like a celebration and more like a reminder of what should have been but wasn't. Then there are the men who desperately wanted children and never had them. The fathers who have buried a son or daughter. The grandfathers who miss the grandkids who moved away. The stepdads wondering if the children they helped raise really know how much they love them. The foster dads who opened their homes and hearts knowing goodbyes would eventually come. The men who became father figures simply because a kid needed somebody to show up. Many of the most important things fathers do aren't the big dramatic moments. They're the thousands of ordinary ones. It's getting up and going to work when you'd rather stay home. It's fixing things nobody notices unless they break. It's carrying burdens quietly. It's teaching a child how to work, how to keep their word, how to treat people, how to pray, how to keep going when life gets hard. It's being tired and showing up anyway. A lot of fathers don't get thanked nearly enough. The funny thing is that when we're kids, we assume our parents know everything. Then we become adults and realize they were figuring things out as they went, just like the rest of us. They made mistakes. They worried more than we knew. They carried responsibilities we never saw. And somehow, despite all that, many of them kept putting one foot in front of the other and doing the best they could. So today, if your dad is still here, give him a call. If he's already Home, spend a few minutes remembering him. If Father's Day is painful, know that you're not alone. And to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, foster dads, adoptive dads, and father figures out there: thank you. The world changes because ordinary men choose, day after day, to love, lead, provide, protect, teach, and show up. That may not always make headlines. But it matters more than most people realize. written by Farmers Girl
  • The Sabbath Truth # 7
    Sabbath History.
    Sabbath Through the Centuries
    1st Century
    "But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Jesus, Matthew 24:20
    Institution Of The Sabbath
    "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Genesis 2:1-3
    Jesus
    "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read." Luke 4:16
    "And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matthew 19:16-17
    "But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Matthew 24:20.
    Jesus asked his disciples to pray that in the flight from the doomed city of Jerusalem they would not have to flee on the Sabbath day. This flight took place in 70 A.D. (40 years after the Cross).
    His Followers
    "And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment." Luke 23:56
    Paul
    "And Paul, as his manner was went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures" Acts 17:2
    Paul And Gentiles
    "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. And the next Sabbath came almost the whole city together to hear the Word of God." Acts 13:42, 44.
    Here we find Gentiles in a Gentile city gathering on the Sabbath. It was not a synagogue meeting in verse 44, for it says almost the whole city came together, verse 42 says they asked to hear the message the "next Sabbath."
    John
    "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." Rev. 1:10 (Mark 2:28, Isa.58:13, Ex.20:10, Clearly show the Sabbath to be the Lord's day).
    Josephus
    "There is not any city of the Grecians, nor any of the Barbarians, nor any nation whatsoever, whither our custom of resting on the seventh day hath not come!" M'Clatchie, "Notes and Queries on China and Japan" (edited by Dennys), Vol 4, Nos 7, 8, p.100.
    Philo
    Declares the seventh day to be a festival, not of this or of that city, but of the universe. M'Clatchie, "Notes and Queries," Vol. 4, 99
    2nd Century
    "It is certain that the ancient Sabbath did remain and was observed (together with the celebration of the Lord's day) by the Christians of the East Church, above three hundred years after our Saviour's death." - A Learned Treatise of the Sabbath, p. 77
    Early Christians
    "The primitive Christians had a great veneration for the Sabbath, and spent the day in devotion and sermons. And it is not to be doubted but they derived this practice from the Apostles themselves, as appears by several scriptures to the purpose." "Dialogues on the Lord's Day," p. 189. London: 1701, By Dr. T.H. Morer (A Church of England divine).
    "...The Sabbath was a strong tie which united them with the life of the whole people, and in keeping the Sabbath holy they followed not only the example but also the command of Jesus." "Geschichte des Sonntags," pp.13, 14 "The primitive Christians did keep the Sabbath of the Jews ;...therefore the Christians, for a long time together, did keep their conventions upon the Sabbath, in which some portions of the law were read: and this continued till the time of the Laodicean council." "The Whole Works" of Jeremy Taylor, Vol. IX,p. 416 (R. Heber's Edition, Vol XII, p. 416).
    Early Church
    "It is certain that the ancient Sabbath did remain and was observed (together with the celebration of the Lord's day) by the Christians of the East Church, above three hundred years after our Saviour's death." "A Learned Treatise of the Sabbath," p. 77
    Note: By the "Lord's day" here the writer means Sunday and not the true Sabbath," which the Bible says is the Sabbath. This quotation shows Sunday coming into use in the early centuries soon after the death of the Apostles. Paul the Apostle foretold a great "falling away" from the Truth that would take place soon after his death.
    2nd Century Christians
    "The Gentile Christians observed also the Sabbath," Gieseler's "Church History," Vol.1, ch. 2, par. 30, 93.
    2nd, 3rd, 4th Centuries
    "From the apostles' time until the council of Laodicea, which was about the year 364, the holy observance of the Jews' Sabbath continued, as may be proved out of many authors: yea, notwithstanding the decree of the council against it." "Sunday a Sabbath." John Ley, p.163. London: 1640.
    3rd Century
    "The seventh-day Sabbath was...solemnised by Christ, the Apostles, and primitive Christians, till the Laodicean Council did in manner quite abolish the observations of it." Dissertation on the Lord's Day, pp. 33, 34
    Egypt (Oxyrhynchus Papyrus) (200-250 A.D.)
    "Except ye make the sabbath a real sabbath (sabbatize the Sabbath," Greek), ye shall not see the Father." "The oxyrhynchus Papyri," pt,1, p.3, Logion 2, verso 4-11 (London Offices of the Egypt Exploration Fund, 1898).
    Early Christians-C 3rd
    "Thou shalt observe the Sabbath, on account of Him who ceased from His work of creation, but ceased not from His work of providence: it is a rest for meditation of the law, not for idleness of the hands." "The Anti-Nicene Fathers," Vol 7,p. 413. From "Constitutions of the Holy Apostles," a document of the 3rd and 4th Centuries.
    Africa (Alexandria) Origen
    "After the festival of the unceasing sacrifice (the crucifixion) is put the second festival of the Sabbath, and it is fitting for whoever is righteous among the saints to keep also the festival of the Sabbath. There remaineth therefore a sabbatismus, that is, a keeping of the Sabbath, to the people of God (Hebrews 4:9)." "Homily on Numbers 23," par.4, in Migne, "Patrologia Graeca," Vol. 12,cols. 749, 750.
    Palestine to India (Church of the East)
    As early as A.D. 225 there existed lallrge bishoprics or conferences of the Church of the East (Sabbath-keeping) stretching from Palestine to India. Mingana, "Early Spread of Christianity." Vol.10, p. 460.
    India (Buddhist Controversy, 220 A.D.)
    The Kushan Dynasty of North India called a famous council of Buddhist priests at Vaisalia to bring uniformity among the Buddhist monks on the observance of their weekly Sabbath. Some had been so impressed by the writings of the Old Testament that they had begun to keep holy the Sabbath. Lloyd, "The Creed of Half Japan," p. 23.
    Early Christians
    "The seventh-day Sabbath was...solemnised by Christ, the Apostles, and primitive Christians, till the Laodicean Council did in manner quite abolish the observations of it." "Dissertation on the Lord's Day," pp. 33, 34
    4th Century
    "When you are in Rome, do as Rome does." Ambrose, the celebrated bishop of Milan gave rise to this proverb by stating that when he was in Milan he observed Saturday, but when in Rome he observed Sunday. (See page 70 in this Online version of Truth Triumphant)
    Italy AND EAST-C 4th
    "It was the practice generally of the Easterne Churches; and some churches of the west...For in the Church of Millaine (Milan);...it seems the Saturday was held in a farre esteeme... Not that the Easterne Churches, or any of the rest which observed that day, were inclined to Iudaisme (Judaism); but that they came together on the Sabbath day, to worship Iesus (Jesus) Christ the Lord of the Sabbath." "History of the Sabbath" (original spelling retained), Part 2, par. 5, pp.73, 74. London: 1636. Dr. Heylyn.
    Italy - Milan
    "Ambrose, the celebrated bishop of Milan, said that when he was in Milan he observed Saturday, but when in Rome observed Sunday. This gave rise to the proverb, 'When you are in Rome, do as Rome does.'" Heylyn, "The History of the Sabbath" (1612)
    Orient And Most Of World
    "The ancient Christians were very careful in the observance of Saturday, or the seventh day...It is plain that all the Oriental churches, and the greatest part of the world, observed the Sabbath as a festival...Athanasius likewise tells us that they held religious assembles on the Sabbath, not because they were infected with Judaism, but to worship Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, Epiphanius says the same." "Antiquities of the Christian Church," Vol.II Book XX, chap. 3, sec.1, 66. 1137,1138.
    Abyssinia - Remnants of Philip's Evangelism
    "In the last half of that century St. Ambrose of Milan stated officially that the Abyssinian bishop, Museus, had 'traveled almost everywhere in the country of the Seres' (China). For more than seventeen centuries the Abyssinian Church continued to sanctify Saturday as the holy day of the fourth commandment." Ambrose, DeMoribus, Brachmanorium Opera Ominia, 1132, found in Migne, Patrologia Latima, Vol.17, pp.1131,1132.
    Arabia, Persia, India, China
    "Mingana proves that in 370 A.D. Abyssinian Christianity (a Sabbath keeping church) was so popular that its famous director, Musacus, travelled extensively in the East promoting the church in Arabia, Persia, India and China." "Truth Triumphant,"p.308 (Footnote 27). (Page numbers vary in this Online version of Truth Triumphant)
    Spain - Council Elvira (A.D.305)
    Canon 26 of the Council of Elvira reveals that the Church of Spainat that time kept Saturday, the seventh day. "As to fasting every Sabbath: Resolved, that the error be corrected of fasting every Sabbath." This resolution of the council is in direct opposition to the policy the church at Rome had inaugurated, that of commanding Sabbath as a fast day in order to humiliate it and make it repugnant to the people.
    Spain
    It is a point of further interest to note that in north-eastern Spainnear the city of Barcelona is a city called Sabadell, in a district originaly inhabited. By a people called both "Valldenses" and Sabbatati."
    Persia-A.D. 335-375
    (40 Years Persecution Under Shapur II)
    The popular complaint against the Christians-"They despise our sungod, they have divine services on Saturday, they desecrate the sacred the earth by burying their dead in it." (Truth Triumphant, Online Version p. 261)
    Persia-A.D. 335-375
    "They despise our sun-god. Did not Zorcaster, the sainted founder of our divine beliefs, institute Sunday one thousand years ago in honour of the sun and supplant the Sabbath of the Old Testament. Yet these Christians have divine services on Saturday." O'Leary, "The Syriac Church and Fathers," pp.83, 84.
    Council Laodicea - A.D.365
    "Canon 16-On Saturday the Gospels and other portions of the Scripture shall be read aloud." "Canon 29-Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, but shall work on that day; but the Lord's day they shall especially honor, and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day." Hefele's "Councils," Vol. 2, b. 6.
    5th Century
    "The people of Constantinople, and almost everywhere, assemble together on the Sabbath, as well as on the first day of the week, which custom is never observed at Rome or at Alexandria." Socrates, "Ecclesiastical History," Book 7, chap.19.
    The World
    "For although almost all churches throughout The World celebrated the sacred mysteries (the Lord's Supper) on the Sabbath of every week, yet the Christians of Allexandria and at Rome, on account of some ancient tradition, refuse to do this." The footnote which accompanies the foregoing quotation explains the use of the word "Sabbath." It says: "That is, upon the Saturday. It should be observed, that Sunday is never called "the Sabbath' by the ancient Fathers and historians." Socrates, "Ecclestical History," Book 5, chap. 22, p. 289.
    Constantinople
    "The people of Constantinople, and almost everywhere, assemble together on the Sabbath, as well as on the first day of the week, which custom is never observed at Rome or at Alexandria." Sozomen, "Ecclesiastical History," Book 7, chap. 19.
    The World - Augustine, Bishop Of Hippo (North Africa)
    Augustine shows here that the Sabbath was observed in his day "in the greater part of the Christian world," and his testimony in this respect is all the more valuable because he himself was an earnest and consistent Sunday-keeper. See "Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers," 1st Series, Vol.1, pp. 353, 354.
    Pope Innocent (402-417)
    Pope Sylvester (314-335) was the first to order the churches to fast on Saturday, and Pope Innocent (402-417) made it a binding law in the churches that obeyed him, (In order to bring the Sabbath into disfavour.) "Innocentius did ordain the Saturday or Sabbath to be always fasted." Dr. Peter Heylyn, "History of the Sabbath, Part 2, p. 44.
    5th Century Christians
    Down even to the fifth century the observance of the Jewish Sabbath was continued in the Christian church. "Ancient Christianity Exemplified," Lyman Coleman, ch. 26, sec. 2, p. 527.
    In Jerome's day (420 A.D.) the devoutest Christians did ordinary work on Sunday."Treatise of the Sabbath Day," by Dr. White, Lord Bishop of Ely, p. 219.
    Africa
    "Augustine deplored the fact that in two neighbouring churches in Africa one observes the seventh-day Sabbath, another fasted on it." Dr. Peter Heylyn, "The History of the Sabbath." p. 416.
    "Ambrose sanctified the seventh day as the Sabbath (as he himself says). Ambrose had great influence in Spain, which was also observing the Saturday Sabbath." Truth Triumphant, p. 68.
    Sidonius (Speaking Of King Theodoric Of The Goths, A.D. 454-526)
    "It is a fact that it was formerly the custom in the East to keep the Sabbath in the same manner as the Lord's day and to hold sacred assemblies: while on the other hand, the people of the West, contending for the Lord's day have neglected the celebration of the Sabbath." "Apollinaries Sidonli Epistolae," lib.1, 2; Migne, 57.
    Egypt
    "There are several cities and villages in Egypt where, contrary to the usage established elsewhere, the people meet together on Sabbath evenings, and, although they have dined previously, partake of the mysteries." Sozomen. "Ecclesiastical History" Book 7, ch. 19
    6th Century
    Scottish Church
    "In this latter instance they seemed to have followed a custom of which we find traces in the early monastic church of Ireland by which they held Saturday to be the Sabbath on which they rested from all their labours." W.T. Skene, "Adamnan Llife of St. Columbs" 1874, p.96.
    Scotland, Ireland
    "We seem to see here an allusion to the custom, observed in the early monastic Church of Ireland, of keeping the day of rest on Saturday, or the Sabbath." "History of the Catholic Church in Scotland," Vol.1, p. 86, by Catholic historian Bellesheim.
    Scotland - Columba
    "Having continued his labours in Scotland thirty-four years, he clearly and openly foretold his death, and on Saturday, the month of June, said to his disciple Diermit: "This day is called the Sabbath, that is the rest day, and such will it truly be to me; for it will put an end to my labours.'"     Columba (Re Dr. Butler's Description Of His Death)
    The editor of the best biography of Columbia says in a footnote: "Our Saturday. The custom to call The Lord's day Sabbath did not commence until a thousand years later." Adamnan's "Life of Columba" (Dublin, 1857), p. 230.
    Professor James C. Moffatt, D.D., Professor of Church History at Princeton, says: It seems to have been customary in the Celtic churches of early times, in Ireland as well as Scotland, to keep Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath , as a day of rest from labour. They obeyed the fourth commandment literally upon the seventh day of week ." "The Church in Scotland," p.140.
    Gregory I (A.D. 590-640) wrote against "Roman citizens (who) forbid any work being done on the Sabbath day." "Nicene and Post- Nicene Fathers," Second Series, Vol, XIII, p.13, epist. 1
    Rome (Pope Gregory I, A.D.590 TO 604)
    "Gregory, bishop by the grace of God to his well-beloved sons, the Roman citizens: It has come to me that certain men of perverse spirit have disseminated among you things depraved and opposed to the holy faith, so that they forbid anything to be done on the day of the Sabbath. What shall I call them except preachers of anti-Christ?" Epistles, b.13:1
    Rome (Pope Gregory I)
    Declared that when anti-Christ should come he would keep Saturday as the Sabbath. "Epistles of Gregory I, "b 13, epist.1. found in "Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers."
    "Moreover, this same Pope Gregory had issued an official pronouncement against a section of the city of Rome itself because the Christian believers there rested and worshipped on the Sabbath." Same reference.
    China - A.D.781
    In A.D. 781 the famous China Monument was inscribed in marble to tell of the growth of Christianity in China at that time. The inscription, consisting of 763 words, was unearthed in 1625 near the city of Changan and now stands in the "Forest of Tablets," Changan. The following extract from the stone shows that the Sabbath was observed: "On the seventh day we offer sacrifices, after having purified our hearts, and received absolution for our sins. This religion, so perfect and so excellent, is difficult to name, but it enlightens darkness by its brilliant precepts." Christianity in China, M. I'Abbe Huc, Vol. I, ch.2, pp. 48, 49
    Bulgaria
    "Bulgarian the early season of its evangelization had been taught that no work should be performed on the Sabbath."     (Pope Nicholas I, in answer to letter from Bogaris, ruling prince of Bulgaria.) "Ques. 6-Bathing is allowed on Sunday. Ques. 10-One is to cease from work on Sunday, but not also on the Sabbath." Hefele, 4,346-352, sec. 478
    The Bulgarians had been accustomed to rest on the Sabbath. Pope Nicholas writes against this practice.
    Constantinople
    (Photuus, Patriarch of Constantinople {in counter- synod that deposed Nicolas}, thus accused Papacy). Against the canons, they induced the Bulgarians to fast on the Sabbath." Photius, vonKard, Hergenrother, 1, 643
    Roman Catholic
    writers try to evade the apostolic origin of the Waldenses, so as to make it appear that the Roman is the only apostolic church, and that all others are later novelties. And for this reason they try to make out that the Waldenses originated with Peter Waldo of the twelfth century. Dr. Peter Allix says: "Some Protestants, on this occasion, have fallen into the snare that was set for them...It is absolutely false, that these churches were ever found by Peter Waldo...it is a pure forgery." Ancient Church of Piedmont, pp.192, Oxford: 1821
    "It is not true, that Waldo gave this name to the inhabitants of the valleys: they were called Waldenses, or Vaudes, before his time, from the valleys in which they dwelt." "Id., p. 182
    "It was another custom of theirs to neglect the reverence due to the Lord's day, by devoting themselves to every kind of worldly business upon it, just as they did upon other days. That this was contrary to the law, she (Queen Margaret) proved to them as well by reason as by authority. 'Let us venerate the Lord's day,' said she, 'because of the resurrection of our Lord, which happened upon that day, and let us no longer do servile works upon it; bearing in mind that upon this day we were redeemed from the slavery of the devil. The blessed Pope Gregory affirms the same.'" Life of Saint Margaret, Turgot, p. 49 (British Museum Library) (Historian Skene commenting upon the work of Queen Margaret) "Her next point was that they did not duly reverence the Lord's day, but in this latter instance they seemed to have followed a custom of which we find traces in the early Church of Ireland, by which they held Saturdayto be the Sabbath on which they rested from all their labours."     Scotland And Ireland
    "T. Ratcliffe Barnett, in his book on the fervent Catholic queen of Scotland who in 1060 was first to attempt the ruin of Columba's brethren, writes: 'In this matter the Scots had perhaps kept up the traditional usage of the ancient Irish Church which observed Saturday instead of Sunday as the day of rest.'"   • Shabbat Shalom and Happy Sabbath -Day.
    I was brought up to believe KJV was and still is The Only Allowed Translation. As I grew up God brought me into a deeper understanding of the Jewish people and our Jewish Messiah Yeshua aka Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I studied Jewish literature like Moses Malmonides "The guide to the perplexed" and "The Shofar" and any others I could get my hands on. To more fully understand why The Jews are The Apple of God's Eyes.
    Did you know that Jewish books are written completely backwards compared to English books you read them left to right instead of right to left like we are normally used to reading. I began to celebrate Sabbath because I believe The 10 commandments are still the standard we must uphold and God never gave us permission to stop resting on the Sabbath Day. Did you know that during Holy Days or Holidays the city of Jerusalem has torches lit down the roads in all four directions so at night pilgrims heading to the Holy City can simply follow the torches right up to the city and the torches are lit for miles in all four directions which makes it absolutely Phenomenal because just imagine looking down from the ISS and seeing the torch light all the way to Jerusalem....
