Before acting, he knelt and prayed. Peter understood that true power comes from God. His first response was dependence upon the Lord rather than confidence in himself. Believers often face situations that seem overwhelming. The temptation is to rely on our own wisdom, experience, or abilities. Yet God's Word consistently points us toward prayer as our first response. When we seek God first, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and invite His guidance into every circumstance.
