  • Jesus Christ: Son of God and God
Is Christ Jesus the Son of God, or is He God?
What is specific to Christianity, and not shared by any other religion, is that when we hear the word "God," we immediately understand that Christianity specifically does not present "God," but "God the Father."
Because in correct Christian doctrine, we do not have any discourse about "God," but rather we have a specific discourse about the "Fatherhood of God," "God the Father." And the rest of the doctrine is: "God the Father is the Father of our Lord and our God and our Savior and our King, Jesus Christ."
Therefore, "God" is "the Father," and any talk about God without defining God as Father is quasi-Christian, but not necessarily Christian.
Thus, the answer to the question of whether the Son can be both "Son" and "God" is not complicated. As long as the word "God" is the name of the Father, then the question in its correct form becomes:
Is the Son of the Father like the Father?
If the Father is God, is the Son also God?
    The answer: Yes, absolutely.
But why insist on this faith?
First: Because humanity is called to a greater grace, which is adoption — the greatest thing the Father offers.
Second: Because this grace is from God, and not from the cosmic order, nor from biological procreation, but it is the participation of humanity in the special relationship between the Father and the Son.
Third: Because this grace is the eternal destiny of every human, which is the greatest that can be said about the eternal destiny of humanity: that he is a son of the Father.
Accordingly, the answer to the question becomes easy, as long as the name "God" means the Father, and "God" does not mean without Fatherhood.

    A Confession Born at Calvary

Mark 15 brings us to the climactic moment of Jesus' crucifixion. As Jesus hung on the cross, many mocked Him, rejected Him, and failed to recognize who He truly was. Yet among those present was a Roman centurion, a hardened military officer who had likely witnessed many executions. Standing near the cross, he observed the final moments of Jesus' life and came to a remarkable conclusion: "Truly this Man was the Son of God!"

This confession is significant because it came from an unexpected person. The centurion was not one of Jesus' disciples, nor was he part of the Jewish religious community. Yet as he witnessed the dignity, strength, and manner in which Jesus endured suffering and death, he recognized something extraordinary. The very event that appeared to be a defeat became a testimony to Christ's divine identity.
The cross reveals the heart of God. What seemed like weakness was actually the display of God's power to save. Jesus willingly laid down His life to bear the penalty for sin and make a way for humanity to be reconciled to God. The centurion saw enough to acknowledge the truth, and his declaration continues to point people toward Christ today.

Believers can learn from this moment that God often reveals His glory in ways the world does not expect. The cross reminds us that God's wisdom and purposes are greater than human understanding. Through Christ's sacrifice, we find forgiveness, redemption, and eternal hope.

For believers today, this verse challenges us to consider our own response to Jesus. The centurion openly confessed what he believed about Christ. We, too, are called to recognize Jesus for who He truly is and to live in a way that reflects our faith in Him. Following the devotional pattern reflected in the provided example, we are reminded that the cross not only reveals God's love but also calls us to a personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ.

    Reflection Questions

    1. What does the cross reveal to me about the character and love of God?

    2. Have I fully embraced Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of my life?

    3. How can I boldly reflect my faith in Christ to those around me?

    Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross for my sins. Help me to see more clearly who You are and to trust You with my whole life. Strengthen my faith and give me courage to openly confess You as Lord and Savior. May my life reflect gratitude for the love You demonstrated at Calvary. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Practical Application

    - Spend time reflecting on the significance of Christ's sacrifice for your salvation.

    - Share with someone what Jesus means to you and how He has changed your life.

    - Thank God daily for His grace, mercy, and the hope found through the cross.

    Takeaway Thought

The cross reveals that Jesus is truly the Son of God and worthy of our complete trust and devotion.

  • Daily Devotion — April 13 | Mark 3:11 (NKJV)

    Every Spirit Recognizes His Authority

Mark chapter 3 continues to reveal the authority of Jesus during His early ministry. As He heals and teaches among the people, the spiritual realm also responds to His presence. Whenever unclean spirits encounter Jesus, they fall down before Him and declare that He is the Son of God.

This moment reveals a profound truth about the identity of Christ. Even the forces of darkness recognize who He is. Demons cannot deny His authority or resist His power. Their reaction demonstrates that Jesus is not merely a teacher or prophet. He is the Son of God with authority over every spiritual power.

While the religious leaders often questioned Jesus’ identity, the spiritual realm knew exactly who stood before them. The contrast is striking. Those who were expected to recognize the Messiah struggled to believe, while the unclean spirits immediately acknowledged His authority.

For believers today this verse reminds us that Jesus holds absolute authority over every spiritual force. No power of darkness is equal to Him. When we place our trust in Christ, we stand under the authority of the One whom every spirit must obey.

Our response should not merely be recognition but worship, obedience, and trust in the Son of God who reigns over all.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Do I fully recognize the authority of Jesus in my life

    2. How does knowing Christ’s authority strengthen my faith during spiritual struggles

    3. Am I responding to Jesus with obedience and worship

    Prayer

Lord Jesus You are the Son of God and the authority over all creation. Strengthen my faith to trust Your power in every situation. Help me to walk confidently under Your authority and live in obedience to Your Word. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    ● Remember Christ’s authority when facing fear or spiritual challenges

    ● Submit daily decisions to the leadership of Jesus

    ● Worship Christ for who He truly is the Son of God

    Takeaway Thought

Every power in heaven and earth recognizes the authority of Jesus. Trust the Son of God and walk confidently under His rule.
