• LOCKED MIND

A locked mind is a mind that is closed to God's truth, correction, wisdom, and direction.

It is a mind imprisoned by unbelief, pride, fear, sin, tradition, bitterness, or spiritual blindness.

Many people are physically free but mentally imprisoned. God desires not only to save our souls but also to transform our minds.

The condition of your mind determines the direction of your life. A locked mind limits spiritual growth, blocks divine revelation, and hinders God's purpose.

    Proverbs 23:7
"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..."

    1. WHAT IS A LOCKED MIND?

A locked mind is a mind that resists God's truth and refuses transformation.

    Characteristics of a Locked Mind
    Refuses correction.

    Rejects godly counsel.

    Operates in unbelief.

    Holds tightly to sinful habits.

Is controlled by fear and negativity.

Resists the leading of the Holy Spirit.

    Biblical Example: Pharaoh

    Exodus 8:15
"But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart..."

Pharaoh repeatedly rejected God's warnings. His locked mind eventually led to destruction.

    2. CAUSES OF A LOCKED MIND

    A. Pride
Pride prevents people from accepting God's truth.

    Proverbs 16:18
"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

Many people remain spiritually stagnant because they think they already know everything.

    B. Unbelief
Unbelief shuts the door to God's miracles and promises.

    Hebrews 3:12
"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief..."

The Israelites saw miracles yet doubted God repeatedly.

    C. Sin
    Sin clouds spiritual understanding.

    Isaiah 59:2
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God..."

    Persistent sin creates spiritual blindness.

    D. Fear
    Fear locks people in bondage.

    2 Timothy 1:7
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear..."

Fear keeps many from obeying God's calling.

    E. Wrong Associations
Negative influences can shape a person's thinking.

    1 Corinthians 15:33
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."

    3. DANGERS OF A LOCKED MIND

    A. It Prevents Spiritual Growth
    Hebrews 5:12-14

Spiritual maturity becomes impossible when the mind refuses God's truth.

    B. It Blocks Divine Revelation
    Mark 6:52
"For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened."

A hardened mind misses God's revelation.

    C. It Leads to Destruction
    Hosea 4:6
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."

A locked mind rejects the knowledge that could bring deliverance.

    D. It Hinders Faith
    James 1:6-8

A doubtful mind struggles to receive from God.

    4. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF LOCKED MINDS

    A. The Pharisees
Despite witnessing miracles, they rejected Jesus.

    John 12:37

"But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him."

    Their traditions became mental prisons.

    B. The Israelites in the Wilderness
    Numbers 14:1-4

Although God delivered them from Egypt, their minds remained in bondage.

    C. Saul Before His Conversion
    Acts 9:1-6

Saul's mind was locked by religious zeal and ignorance until Christ encountered him.

    5. HOW GOD UNLOCKS THE MIND

    A. Through His Word
    Psalm 119:130
"The entrance of thy words giveth light..."

God's Word breaks ignorance and brings understanding.

    B. Through the Holy Spirit
    John 14:26

The Holy Spirit teaches and reveals truth.

    C. Through Repentance
    Acts 3:19

Repentance removes barriers between us and God.

    D. Through Prayer
    Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer opens the heart to divine wisdom and revelation.

    E. Through Humility
    James 4:6

God gives grace to the humble.

    6. SIGNS OF AN UNLOCKED MIND

    A Renewed Mind

    Romans 12:2
You begin to think according to God's Word.

    A Teachable Spirit

    Proverbs 9:9
    Wise people welcome instruction.

    Spiritual Discernment

    1 Corinthians 2:14-16
You begin to understand spiritual matters.

    Bold Faith

    Mark 9:23
You believe God can do the impossible.

    Obedience

    John 14:15
An unlocked mind responds to God's instructions.

    7. PRAYER POINTS FOR DELIVERANCE FROM A LOCKED MIND

Father, every spiritual blindness affecting my mind, remove it in Jesus' name.

Lord, renew my mind through Your Word and Spirit.

Every stronghold of unbelief, be broken in Jesus' name.

Every spirit of fear locking my destiny, depart from my life.

Father, give me a teachable and humble heart.

Let every mental prison keeping me from my purpose be destroyed.

Open my eyes to understand Your will for my life.

Fill my mind with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

    Conclusion

God cannot fully use a person whose mind remains locked. Before God changes your circumstances, He often changes your thinking. A transformed life begins with a transformed mind.

    Ephesians 4:23
"And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;"

Today, ask God to unlock every area of your mind that has been closed by fear, pride, unbelief, sin, or tradition. When God unlocks your mind, He unlocks your destiny.

    Isaiah 26:3
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

  • THE CALLING OF ISAIAH — WHEN GOD PURIFIES BEFORE HE SENDS

Isaiah 6:6–7 — “Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal… and he touched my mouth with it, and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.’”

In Isaiah 6, we are drawn into one of the most overwhelming encounters in Scripture — a moment where heaven invades earth, and a man comes face to face with the holiness of God. Isaiah sees the Lord high and lifted up, His glory filling the temple, and immediately he becomes aware of something deep and undeniable: his own unworthiness.

He cries out, “Woe is me, for I am undone!” This is the response of anyone who truly encounters God — not pride, not self-confidence, but humility and conviction. In the presence of perfect holiness, every hidden flaw is exposed. Isaiah doesn’t compare himself to others; he sees himself in the light of God’s glory.

But here is the turning point — God does not leave him in that state.

A seraphim takes a burning coal from the altar and brings it to Isaiah’s lips. This is not an act of destruction, but of purification. The fire represents God’s holiness — a fire that does not consume him, but cleanses him. His sin is not ignored; it is dealt with. His guilt is not covered up; it is removed.

This moment reveals a powerful truth: before God uses a person, He purifies them.

Many want to be called, to be seen, to be used greatly — but few are willing to go through the fire of cleansing. God is not looking for perfection; He is looking for surrender. The same lips that confessed unworthiness are the ones God touches and makes clean.

And immediately after this cleansing, the voice of the Lord is heard: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”

Now Isaiah can respond — not from guilt, not from fear, but from a place of transformation: “Here am I! Send me.”

This is the pattern of God: revelation, conviction, purification, then calling.

You cannot skip the process. The fire you fear may be the very thing that prepares you. The conviction you feel is not rejection — it is an invitation. God does not expose to shame you; He reveals to restore you.

Today, God is still calling people. Not the perfect, not the flawless — but the willing. Those who will allow Him to cleanse their hearts, refine their character, and set them apart.

The question is not whether God is calling — He is.
The question is: Will you allow Him to purify you so you can answer?

  • TO BE LIKE JESUS - PART 3A

WHY GOD WANTS US TO BE LIKE JESUS - (THE RESTORATION OF OUR IMAGE)

(Google Docs link provided at the end and in the comment for clickable Bible citations to open your Bible App for a fluid study experience)

Because of the scope of this subject, this section is in two parts (A & B). You may download the free book attached to this series for deeper explanations. In this concluding part, we’ll explore WHY God wants us to be like Jesus (Rom 8:29).
In simple terms, being conformed to Christ is the only way God fulfills His purpose for creation in Genesis 1. God created all things for His pleasure, and His purpose must stand (Rev 4:11 KJV, Eph 1:5,9,11, Psa 135:6, Isaiah 46:10). Of all mankind, Jesus alone fully pleased Him (Matt 3:17, 17:5, Isaiah 42:1, John 5:30, 8:29), therefore God desires us to be like Him.

Below is the Genesis mandate—the definition and purpose of mankind:

    Gen 1:26-28 NIV
26 Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in OUR IMAGE, in OUR LIKENESS, so that they may RULE … over all the creatures …”
27 So God created mankind in His own Image… 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be FRUITFUL and INCREASE IN NUMBER; fill the earth and subdue it. RULE … over every living creature …”

Thus mankind was made in God’s Image, to be fruitful, multiply, and rule.
But man sinned by obeying the devil (Gen 2:16-17, 3:1-7). Since one’s a servant of the one they obey (Rom 6:16-18), mankind effectively joined the devil’s rebellion submitting to his will ([Rom 3:23, 6:20, John 8:34, Eph 2:1-3, Titus 3:3], 2 Tim 2:26); thus adopting the sin nature that originated with Satan (John 8:42-44, 1 John 3:8-10).
Adam and Eve passed this corrupted image to humanity (Gen 5:1-3, Rom 5:12, 18-19). Hence, humanity no longer reflected God’s PERFECT Image (Rom 3:23). This is the first point of deviation from the Genesis mandate.
The sin nature makes perfection impossible (Rom 7:22-25). Therefore God sent His Son, Who took on the SAME weak flesh (Rom 8:3, Heb 2:14-15, 17, Phil 2:5-8); but by the Spirit’s enablement, and a surrendered will, He lived PERFECTLY without sin ([John 3:34, Heb 9:14], Heb 4:15), thus proving that Man can once again reflect God's PERFECT nature (Matt 5:48, Heb 10:14, 2 Cor 3:18, [1 John 2:6, 2 Tim 2:19]).
We have no excuse, Jesus Christ was FULLY like us, and God was with Him as He is with us (John 8:29, Heb 13:5, John 14:16-18 NKJV). God's help does not totally eliminate pain, hardships, or temptation ([John 16:33, 1 Cor 15:10, 2 Cor 12:9-10], 1 Cor 10:12-13); neither does it override our will (Psa 19:13, Heb 10:26-27).

Similarly, Jesus Christ had freewill (John 10:18), He faced EVERY hardship we do, and despite that chose to OBEY God. Hunger didn’t make Him sell His Birthright (Heb 12:16; Matt 4:2-4); neither did ego (1 Sam 15:22-30; Phil 2:5-11); nor shame and betrayal make Him turn against us (Rom 11:2-4, Jer 12:3-6, 18:18-23; Luke 22:31-34, 23:34, Heb 12:24). He fully experienced our pains, so we have no excuse (1 John 3:3). And if we fall short, we must simply repent and not make excuses to remain in sin (1 John 2:1-2).

Jesus was fully Man (Heb 2:17), and fully Divine, but on incarnation He laid aside His Divinity (John 17:5, Phil 2:6-8). While on earth, He became fully Divine due to the Holy Spirit (Matt 3:16, John 3:34, Col 1:19). He had to be fully Human, otherwise He couldn't be tempted as we are, because God cannot be tempted (Heb 4:15, James 1:13). He overcame temptation by the Spirit, and by surrendering His will to fulfill ALL that the Holy Spirit caused the prophets to write concerning Him (Matt 26:39, 5:17, 2 Peter 1:20-21). In other words, He kept in step with the Spirit (Gal 5:24-25).

Jesus took our image so that we may take His through the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:9-10, 2 Peter 1:3-4). He identified with us as “the Son of Man” (Luke 5:20-24, Heb 2:11, 14-17); and now calls us to take His Image (1 Cor 15:45-50), through a surrendered life to the Holy Spirit. And because of that we can become "Children of God" (John 1:12, Rom 8:16, 1 John 3:1).

Bearing His Image restores the Genesis mandate, for Jesus is God’s express Image (Col 1:15, John 14:9), and through Him we put on God’s likeness (*Eph 4:12-15, 22-24*). Only through Christ do we become children of God and gain access to dwell with Him (John 1:12, 14:1-6).

Understand that God can hear and speak with anyone or any spirit, good or bad (Num 22:9-12, Judges 7:13-15, Job 1:6-7); but only His Children have access to dwell in His Home eternally (John 14:1-3). The devil and everyone else who holds to the image of the sin nature have alternative accommodation in the eternal lake of fire (Rev 20:10, 14-15).

God has chosen you to dwell with Him (John 3:16-18, 1 Tim 2:1-6); now the choice is yours (Deut 30:19-20, Josh 24:15). Accepting this invitation requires coming through Christ and allowing the Spirit to purge the sin nature; otherwise, one risks being cast out (Matt 22:9-14). God can easily graft you in, but if you refuse FRUITFULNESS, He can just as easily remove you (John 15:1-6, Rom 11:17-24, Heb 10:26-31).

We’ll explore fruitfulness and the rest of the Genesis mandate in Part 3B.

Thanks for the privilege of your time. God bless and Shalom!

• The Essence of Prayer
According to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, prayer is a constant transformation of human nature and a continuous assimilation to the Heavenly Father. He taught us to seek perfection, as our Heavenly Father is perfect (Matt. 5:48).
The ultimate goal of prayer is union with God. As Christ prayed, "That they may be one in Us." This sacred goal is accomplished not by our own power, but by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, transforming us into God's image. Through the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, humanity was recreated. By taking flesh from the Virgin Mary, He transferred us from nothingness to the gift of eternal life through the Holy Spirit.
Through prayer, we transition from the old, fallen Adamic nature to the new humanity established by Christ, the Second Adam. He is the head of the new creation, having united divinity with the humanity He received from the Virgin, thus moving our origin from the abyss of non-existence to the firm foundation of His life-giving hypostasis.
As the New Adam was formed by the Holy Spirit, we too are formed in Christ by the same Spirit. He transfers us from the nothingness of the first Adam to Christ, the origin of the new creation. We are made pure through faith and transformation into His image by the Spirit, who takes from Christ and gives us His new, holy life.
Thus, the purpose of prayer is to be transferred by the Holy Spirit's power from the first Adam to the last Adam. Through prayer and the knowledge of faith, we move from the corrupt old life of sin to the new life proclaimed in the Gospel: "Repent and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:15).
The goal of faith is to become like Christ, and the essence of faith is prayer. This is why Christ taught us to begin with "Our Father." By the grace of this son-ship, we pass from the state of the first Adam to that of the second. This is a gift of God, received through faith (Eph. 2:8).
By faith, we transition mentally from existence according to the fallen nature to the new life in Christ, entering into fellowship with the Father through His Son. We say "mentally" because, while in the flesh, we still struggle with the old nature subjected to futility (Rom. 8:18). Yet, through contemplation and the words of faith, this divine vision enters our hearts.
Through prayer, we are transformed by the Holy Spirit, journeying from the shadow of the old Adam into the glorious light and new life of Christ, the Second Adam, restoring our true communion with God.
