• People want the law. It's natural for us. It just seems, to our reasoning, that we need it. We think it might be good for us. We think it's a good medicine. Legalism seems like a pill we should take, but the law is a big pill. In fact, it's too big for us to swallow. "Oh well," our logic comes up with the solution, "I know. I'll cut it up into smaller pieces. Pieces that will still be good for me, but pieces I'm able to take."

So, religious people sliced and diced the law up in their pill cutter-like brains and came up with sections that they labeled "civil law," "ceremonial law" and "moral law." God gave the law. All 613 commandments. It was people who cut it up.

Even the most legalistic people though think that they don't have to take the ceremonial lump. To them, all they need is the moral part. It only has ten commandments, after all.

Oh, maybe they sort through the bigger pieces they sliced off and pick out some other small bits they can take off of one of the big chunks. Some think that they should still abide by the dietary laws, and they decide that they shouldn't eat "unclean foods." Some think they should still honor feast days. Some cut off a little of the regulations for daily living as something they can swallow.

The pill of the law brings with it some negative side effects. It causes bitterness and divisiveness and pride. People on the pill of the law can be angry and out of their mouths comes vitriol and disgust, especially to those that disagree with their doctrine. Iโ€™m left wondering โ€ฆ where is the fruit of the Spirit demonstrated here? Where at least is Christian love and compassion?

Praise God we believers are free and no longer burdened like those under the law.

The weight of their own guilt and condemnation causes them to be disgruntled, angry, hostile, and unable to show the love that believers ought to demonstrate. You see? If you're going to take the pill, you need the entire dose... not smaller, more palitable, easier to take sections. If you even miss one crumb of it, you are completely in the wrong and will experience the negative side effects.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12.
What quality is this love? ... A love for the soul that would part with selfish gratifications and practice stern self-denial in order to elevate, ennoble, and sanctify those with whom we associate....God enjoins upon all His followers to bear a living testimony in unmistakable language by their conduct, their dress and conversation, in all the pursuits of life, that the power of true godliness is profitable to all in this life and in the life to come....A cheap Christian character works more harm in the world than the character of a worldling, for professed Christians mislead others by professing to represent Him whose name they assume.....God is love. Whoso dwelleth in God, dwelleth in love. All who have indeed become acquainted ... with the love and tender compassion of our heavenly Father will impart light and joy wherever they may be. Their presence and influence will be to their associates as the fragrance of sweet flowers, because they are linked to God and heaven, and the purity and exalted loveliness of heaven are communicated through them to all that are brought within their influence...You can surround your souls with an atmosphere that will be like zephyrs from the heavenly Eden..[ FLB 235.]

  • TUESDAY MORNING PRAYER FOR OUR FAMILY!

โ€œBut as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.โ€ โ€” Joshua 24:15 (KJV)

Heavenly Father, in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on this Tuesday morning with grateful hearts. Thank You for waking us up and giving us another day that we did not earn but received because of Your grace and mercy.
Your Word declares, โ€œThis is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.โ€ โ€” Psalm 118:24.
Father, before we ask You for anything, we thank You for everything. Thank You for life. Thank You for strength. Thank You for our families. Thank You for keeping us through dangers seen and unseen. Thank You for the doors You opened, the doors You closed, and even the things You protected us from that we never knew were coming.
Lord, as our families begin this Tuesday, go before us. Order our steps, direct our decisions, guard our hearts, protect our homes, and keep Your hand upon every member of our family.
Your Word says, โ€œTrust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.โ€ โ€” Proverbs 3:5โ€“6.
    HEAL OUR FAMILY, LORD
Father, this morning we bring before You every family member who is battling sicknessโ€”physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
    You know every diagnosis.
    You know every symptom.
    You know every pain.
    You know every sleepless night.
    You know every private struggle.
You know every burden that has become too difficult to explain to others.
    Father, touch them right now.
Your Word declares, โ€œHeal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved.โ€ โ€” Jeremiah 17:14.
Lord, stretch forth Your healing hand.
Where there is sickness, bring healing.
Where there is pain, bring relief.
Where there is weakness, bring strength.
Where there is fear, bring faith.
Where there is confusion, bring clarity.
Where there is discouragement, restore hope.
Where there are troubled minds, release Your supernatural peace.
You promised in Isaiah 26:3, โ€œThou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.โ€
Father, guard the minds of our family members. Give peace to those overwhelmed by life's pressures. Strengthen those carrying emotional burdens in silence. Remind them that they are seen by You, loved by You, and never beyond the reach of Your hand.
Your Word says, โ€œHe healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.โ€ โ€” Psalm 147:3.
So, Lord, heal, deliver, restore, and set free!
We stand upon Psalm 107:20:โ€œHe sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.โ€
Send Your Word into every hospital room, rehabilitation center, doctor's office, nursing facility, and every home where healing is needed.
Give physicians wisdom. Give nurses compassion. Give caregivers strength. Give families patience. And give those who are sick the courage to keep believing You one day at a time.
    SAVE OUR FAMILY, LORD
Father, our greatest prayer is not simply that our family will be healthy, prosperous, or successful. Our greatest prayer is that our family will know Jesus Christ.
We lift before You every family member who has not surrendered their life to Christ.
    Draw them by Your Spirit.
Let somebody who has been running from You begin running toward You.
Let somebody who has questioned You begin seeking You.
Let somebody who has never prayed begin calling upon Your name.
Let somebody ask the same question asked in Acts 16:30:
โ€œSirs, what must I do to be saved?โ€
And let the answer ring clearly:
โ€œBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.โ€ โ€” Acts 16:31.
Father, let salvation come into our households!
Your Word declares, โ€œFor whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.โ€ โ€” Romans 10:13.
And Jesus declared, โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.โ€ โ€” John 14:6.
Lord, let our children know Jesus.
    Let our grandchildren know Jesus.
Let husbands and wives know Jesus.
Let our brothers and sisters know Jesus.
Let our extended families know Jesus.
Break destructive generational patterns and establish a new spiritual legacyโ€”a legacy of faith, prayer, worship, obedience, integrity, forgiveness, and love.
May generations after us be able to say, โ€œOur family served the Lord!โ€
    PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILY, LORD
Father, we lift every family member who is looking for employment.
You know every application submitted, every rรฉsumรฉ sent, every interview completed, and every person waiting for someone to call them back.
    Open the right doors.
Give them favor with hiring managers and decision-makers. Lead them to positions where their gifts, abilities, and experience will be appreciated.
For those already employed who need promotion, advancement, better opportunities, increased wages, raises, improved benefits, or greater financial stability, we ask You to make a way.
Your Word declares, โ€œFor promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge.โ€ โ€” Psalm 75:6โ€“7.
Bless the work of our hands, Lord.
    Let integrity speak for us.
    Let excellence distinguish us.
    Let favor surround us.
And when You elevate us, keep us humble enough to remember Who opened the door.
    PROVIDE FOR THOSE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY
Father, we especially pray for family members facing financial pressure.
Some are trying to stretch a paycheck.
Some are worried about rent or mortgage payments.
    Some are facing medical bills.
    Some are dealing with debt.
    Some need groceries.
    Some are facing unexpected expenses.
Some are working but still struggling to make ends meet.
But today we stand upon Philippians 4:19:
โ€œBut my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.โ€
    Father, You are our Source.
    Provide what our families need.
Give us wisdom to manage what You provide. Teach us to be disciplined, generous, responsible, and faithful stewards.
Give our families creative ideas, opportunities, strategies, and open doors.
Where there has been lack, provide.
Where there has been financial confusion, give wisdom.
Where there has been debt, give us a plan and discipline.
Where there has been financial fear, replace it with faith and responsible action.
Lord, supply every need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
    PROTECT OUR FAMILY THIS TUESDAY
Father, as our family members leave their homes today, cover them.
    Protect those driving to work.
    Protect those traveling.
    Protect our children and grandchildren.
    Protect those working long hours.
Protect those caring for loved ones.
Protect those going to medical appointments.
Protect our homes while we are away.
Your Word declares, โ€œFor he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.โ€ โ€” Psalm 91:11.
Lord, keep us from accidents, danger, violence, and circumstances we cannot see coming.
    Bring everyone safely home.
STRENGTHEN THE LOVE IN OUR FAMILY
Father, help us to remember that before careers, money, possessions, accomplishments, titles, and recognition, our greatest responsibility is to love You and love one another.
Jesus said, โ€œThou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.โ€ โ€” Matthew 22:37.
    Lord, You come first.
    Before our plansโ€”You.
    Before our ambitionsโ€”You.
    Before our possessionsโ€”You.
    Before everything elseโ€”You.
And because we love You, teach us how to love one another.
Your Word declares, โ€œBeloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.โ€ โ€” 1 John 4:11.
Heal broken relationships within our family.
    Remove bitterness.
    Destroy unforgiveness.
Break down walls caused by pride.
Help us apologize when we are wrong.
Help us forgive when we have been hurt.
    Help us communicate with grace.
Help us stop allowing small disagreements to create permanent separation.
Let husbands and wives love one another.
Let parents and children understand one another.
Let brothers and sisters support one another.
Let generations respect and learn from one another.
Lord, make our families stronger, closer, healthier, and more Christ-centered.

  • THE LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN IN A CHALLENGING WORLD

    By Pastor Jonathan O. Ubah

    Introduction

We are living in a world that is changing rapidly. Values are shifting, truth is being questioned, morality is being redefined, and many people are under pressure to compromise their convictions just to fit into society.

Yet, the Christian is called to live differently.

Jesus never promised His followers a life without challenges. In fact, He said, โ€œIn the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the worldโ€ (John 16:33, NKJV).

The Christian life is not a promise of the absence of trouble; it is a promise of God's presence in the midst of trouble. We may walk through difficult seasons, but we do not walk through them alone.

A challenging world requires Christians who know their God, understand their identity, stand firmly on God's Word, and refuse to allow the darkness around them to extinguish the light within them.

    1. THE CHRISTIAN MUST KNOW WHO HE IS

One of the greatest dangers in a challenging world is losing your identity.

The world constantly tells us who we should become, what we should value, what success should look like, and what standards we should follow. But the believer must derive his identity from God, not from society.

    1 Peter 2:9 says:

ยซโ€œBut you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.โ€ยป

You are not merely a product of your environment. You are God's possession.

When you know who you are in Christ, you will not need the approval of everyone around you to feel valuable.

Your identity is not determined by your failures, your past, your social status, your possessions, or people's opinions about you.

    You belong to Christ.

    2. THE CHRISTIAN MUST STAND ON GOD'S WORD

A changing world needs an unchanging standard.

Psalm 119:105 declares, โ€œYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.โ€

God's Word gives us direction when culture becomes confusing. It gives us conviction when compromise becomes attractive. It gives us hope when circumstances become discouraging.

The Christian who neglects Scripture will eventually become vulnerable to the philosophies of the world.

We must therefore become students of the Word.

Do not build your life solely on what people say. Build it on what God has said.

People can change. Circumstances can change. Governments can change. Economies can change. Relationships can change.

But the Word of our God stands forever.

    3. THE CHRISTIAN MUST REFUSE TO CONFORM

    Romans 12:2 says:

ยซโ€œAnd do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.โ€ยป

There is a difference between living in the world and becoming like the world.

Jesus prayed for His disciples in John 17:15-16. He did not ask the Father to remove them from the world but to preserve them while they remained in it.

This means Christianity is not an escape from society. It is a divine assignment within society.

We are called to influence the world without allowing the world to influence our convictions.

You can work in a corrupt environment without becoming corrupt.

You can live among people who compromise without compromising.

You can be surrounded by darkness and still carry light.

    4. THE CHRISTIAN MUST DEVELOP SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

A challenging world requires spiritual strength.

Ephesians 6:10 says, โ€œFinally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.โ€

Our strength does not come merely from personality, education, wealth, connections, or experience.

There are battles that human strength cannot win.

Therefore, we must strengthen our relationship with God through prayer, worship, fasting, the study of Scripture, fellowship, and obedience.

A weak spiritual life makes a believer vulnerable to temptation, fear, discouragement, bitterness, and compromise.

Prayer is not simply an emergency telephone call to God. Prayer is fellowship with our Father.

We must learn to seek God not only when we need something from Him but because we desire Him.

    5. THE CHRISTIAN MUST LEARN TO FACE TRIALS WITH FAITH

Challenges are part of the journey.

James 1:2-4 teaches believers to count it joy when they face various trials because testing produces patience and spiritual maturity.

This does not mean that pain is pleasant. It means that God can use difficult seasons to produce something valuable in us.

    Sometimes God changes the situation.

Sometimes He gives us grace to endure it.

Sometimes He uses the situation to change us.

Whatever the case may be, we must refuse to allow adversity to destroy our faith.

Your trial is not the end of your story.

The fact that you are going through something does not mean that God has abandoned you.

David passed through valleys and still testified of God's presence.

Daniel faced the lions and discovered that God was with him.

The three Hebrew young men entered the fiery furnace, but they were not alone.

God remains faithful in the fire.

    6. THE CHRISTIAN MUST GUARD HIS HEART

    Proverbs 4:23 says:

ยซโ€œKeep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.โ€ยป

The world constantly feeds our hearts with fear, hatred, lust, greed, envy, anger, and materialism.

If we are not careful, what surrounds us will eventually influence what is within us.

That is why believers must guard what they watch, what they listen to, what they celebrate, what they meditate upon, and the relationships they cultivate.

Not everything that is popular is profitable.

Not everything that is trending is godly.

Not every opportunity is an assignment from God.

A Christian must learn to say NO when necessary.

    7. THE CHRISTIAN MUST BE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD

    Jesus said in Matthew 5:14:

โ€œYou are the light of the world.โ€

Notice that Jesus did not say, โ€œYou will become light someday.โ€

He said, โ€œYou are the light.โ€

Light has no argument with darkness. It simply shines.

The world does not necessarily need Christians who shout the loudest; it needs Christians whose lives demonstrate the reality of Christ.

Your workplace should experience your integrity.

Your family should experience your love.

Your community should experience your kindness.

Your generation should see Christ through your character.

We preach with our mouths, but we also preach through our lives.

    8. THE CHRISTIAN MUST LOVE PEOPLE IN A HURTING WORLD

A challenging world is also a hurting world.

People are carrying wounds that we cannot see. Some are fighting silent battles. Some have lost hope. Some have been disappointed by life, relationships, institutions, and even religion.

The Christian must therefore become an instrument of God's love.

    Jesus said in John 13:35:

โ€œBy this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.โ€

Our Christianity must not become merely a collection of religious activities.

    We must love.

    We must forgive.

    We must encourage.

    We must help.

    We must show compassion.

Sometimes the greatest sermon you will preach is the kindness you show to someone who is hurting.

    9. THE CHRISTIAN MUST KEEP HIS EYES ON ETERNITY

One of the reasons believers compromise is that they become too attached to temporary things.

Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:18 to focus not merely on the things that are seen, but on the things that are eternal.

This world is not our final destination.

    Our possessions are temporary.

    Our positions are temporary.

    Our earthly achievements are temporary.

    But eternity is forever.

Therefore, we must live with eternity in view.

Do not gain the whole world and lose your soul.

Do not sacrifice your relationship with God for temporary pleasure.

Do not exchange eternal treasures for temporary applause.

    10. THE CHRISTIAN MUST NEVER GIVE UP

Perhaps the greatest testimony in a challenging world is simply refusing to quit.

    Galatians 6:9 says:

ยซโ€œAnd let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.โ€ยป

There may be moments when you feel tired.

There may be moments when your prayers seem unanswered.

There may be moments when you wonder whether your faith is worth the struggle.

    But keep going.

    Keep praying.

    Keep believing.

    Keep serving.

    Keep loving.

    Keep trusting God.

Your present struggle does not cancel God's purpose for your life.

    CONCLUSION

The life of a Christian in a challenging world is not always easy, but it is possible by the grace of God.

We are called to live differentlyโ€”not because we are better than others, but because Christ has called us to represent Him.

We are called to stand when others fall.

To shine when others walk in darkness.

To speak truth when falsehood becomes popular.

To demonstrate love when hatred increases.

To maintain faith when circumstances become difficult.

And to remain faithful until the end.

Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:16:

โ€œLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.โ€

Beloved, the world may be challenging, but God is still faithful.

The culture may be changing, but God's Word has not changed.

The pressure may be increasing, but God's grace is sufficient.

The darkness may be growing, but your light can still shine.

    Therefore, stand firm.

    Stay prayerful.

    Stay in the Word.

    Stay holy.

    Stay humble.

    Stay faithful.

And above all, keep your eyes on Jesus.

    PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus, give me the grace to live faithfully in this challenging world. Strengthen my heart when I am weak, guide me when I am confused, preserve me when I am tempted, and help me to remain a light wherever You have planted me. Let my life bring glory to Your name. May I never compromise my faith, abandon my calling, or lose sight of eternity. In Jesus' name, amen.

THE LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN IN A CHALLENGING WORLD By Pastor Jonathan O. Ubah Introduction We are living in a world that is changing rapidly. 1. THE CHRISTIAN MUST KNOW WHO HE IS One of the greatest dangers in a challenging world is losing your identity. The world constantly tells us who we should become, what we should value, what success should look like, and what standards we should follow. But the believer must derive his identity from God, not from society. 1 Peter 2:9 says: ยซโ€œBut you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.โ€ยป You are not merely a product of your environment. You are God's possession. When you know who you are in Christ, you will not need the approval of everyone around you to feel valuable. Your identity is not determined by your failures, your past, your social status, your possessions, or people's opinions about you. You belong to Christ. 2. THE CHRISTIAN MUST STAND ON GOD'S WORD A changing world needs an unchanging standard. Psalm 119:105 declares, โ€œYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.โ€ God's Word gives us direction when culture becomes confusing. The ladies were like angels, hearthfully devoted to the success of these children. This is the very first time I saw people devoted to do good without expecting nothing in return. • BEHIND JESUS

    TEXT: Acts 18:28

    SUPPORTING TEXTS: John 1:1โ€“14; John 4:8, 24; Philippians 3:3

    OBJECTIVES

At the end of this teaching, participants should be able to:

    1. Understand that God is Spirit and that He has revealed Himself to humanity through Jesus Christ.

    2. Recognize the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ, and understand why God manifested Himself in the flesh.

    3. Explain why Jesus is the only way to salvation and why human religion, morality, or religious tradition cannot save man.

    4. Defend the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God manifested in the flesh, using Scripture.

    INTRODUCTION

    Acts 18:28 (KJV):

โ€œFor he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.โ€

The subject of Jesus Christ goes beyond what can be seen physically. To understand Jesus, we must look behind Jesusโ€”behind His humanity, His earthly appearance, His birth, His ministry, His death and resurrectionโ€”to discover who He truly is.

The Bible teaches that God is Spirit:

    John 4:24 (KJV):

โ€œGod is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.โ€

    God is also love:

    1 John 4:8:

โ€œHe that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.โ€

Love cannot be seen with the physical eyes, and the Spirit cannot be seen with the physical eyes. Yet both are real.

    QUESTION

Have you ever physically seen love? Have you ever physically seen a spirit?

Although you cannot see love itself, you can see the manifestation of love through actions. Likewise, God, who is Spirit, made Himself known to humanity through Jesus Christ.

    John 1:14 (KJV):

โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usโ€ฆโ€

Jesus is therefore the visible manifestation of the invisible God.

    Colossians 1:15:

โ€œWho is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.โ€

    1. GOD MANIFESTED HIMSELF THROUGH MAN

God revealed Himself through the human life of Jesus Christ so that humanity could know, believe, and receive Him.

    John 1:14:

โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usโ€ฆโ€

Jesus did not merely come to teach people about God. He came as God manifested in the flesh.

    1 Timothy 3:16:

โ€œGod was manifest in the fleshโ€ฆโ€

Jesus showed mankind what God is like through His character, words, works, compassion, holiness, power and love.

    2. THE BREATH OF MAN IS LIMITED

Man's physical life is temporary. The breath of man is dependent upon God.

    Isaiah 2:22:

โ€œCease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?โ€

    James 4:14:

โ€œFor what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.โ€

Man's life is limited, but God's life is eternal.

    3. THE LIFE OF GOD IS ETERNAL

God does not depend upon another source for His existence. He is the eternal God.

    John 1:4:

โ€œIn him was life; and the life was the light of men.โ€

    John 11:25:

โ€œJesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the lifeโ€ฆโ€

    1 John 5:11:

โ€œAnd this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.โ€

The eternal life of God is revealed to humanity through Jesus Christ.

    4. THE CHARACTER OF MAN IS CORRUPTED BY SIN

Humanity, because of sin, cannot become its own saviour.

    Jeremiah 17:9:

โ€œThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wickedโ€ฆโ€

    Romans 3:23:

โ€œFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.โ€

Man therefore needs salvation from outside himself.

    5. THE CHARACTER OF GOD IS GOOD

God is holy, righteous, loving and good.

    Psalm 100:5:

โ€œFor the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.โ€

    Psalm 145:9:

โ€œThe LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.โ€

Jesus demonstrated the goodness and character of God among humanity.

    Acts 10:38:

โ€œโ€ฆwho went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.โ€

    6. MAN CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF โ€” JESUS SAVES

Religion cannot save man. Human wisdom cannot save man. Good works, by themselves, cannot save man.

    Ephesians 2:8โ€“9:

โ€œFor by grace are ye saved through faithโ€ฆ Not of worksโ€ฆโ€

Salvation is found in Jesus Christ.

    Acts 4:12:

โ€œNeither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.โ€

The God whom humanity could not physically see came near to humanity in Jesus Christโ€”and Jesus saves.

THE REASON GOD MANIFESTED HIMSELF IN THE FLESH

    1. SO THAT WE COULD SEE HIM

God became visible through Jesus Christ.

    John 14:9:

โ€œHe that hath seen me hath seen the Fatherโ€ฆโ€

Jesus is the revelation of the invisible God.

    Colossians 2:9:

โ€œFor in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.โ€

    2. SO THAT WE COULD TOUCH HIM AND KNOW HIM

John testified that Jesus was physically real.

    1 John 1:1:

โ€œThat which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyesโ€ฆ and our hands have handledโ€ฆโ€

The apostles did not proclaim an imaginary person. They witnessed, heard and physically encountered Jesus Christ.

    3. SO THAT WE COULD FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM

Jesus did not merely appear to humanity from a distance. He lived among people.

    1 John 1:3:

โ€œโ€ฆthat which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with usโ€ฆโ€ยปl

Jesus also fellowshiped with His disciples.

    Matthew 26:30:

โ€œAnd when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.โ€

He ate with them, walked with them, taught them and fellowshipped with them.

    4. TO REVEAL THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH THE FLESH

Jesus demonstrated God's power through miracles, healing, deliverance and authority.

    John 2:11:

โ€œThis beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his gloryโ€ฆโ€

    Acts 2:22:

โ€œJesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signsโ€ฆโ€

His works revealed what was behind the humanityโ€”the divine nature and power of God.

    5. TO EXPERIENCE HUMANITY AND IDENTIFY WITH US

Jesus experienced hunger, thirst, weariness, sorrow, rejection and temptation, yet without sin.

    Hebrews 4:15:

โ€œFor we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmitiesโ€ฆโ€

    Hebrews 2:17:

โ€œWherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethrenโ€ฆโ€

    He understands what humanity experiences.

    6. TO SHED HIS BLOOD FOR OUR SALVATION

The ultimate reason for His manifestation was redemption.

    Matthew 26:28:

โ€œFor this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.โ€

    1 Peter 1:18โ€“19:

โ€œโ€ฆye were not redeemed with corruptible thingsโ€ฆ But with the precious blood of Christโ€ฆโ€

Jesus came to die for the sins of humanity and rise again.

    1 Corinthians 15:3โ€“4:

โ€œChrist died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third dayโ€ฆโ€

    YOU CANNOT GET GOD CHEAPLY

Gold does not usually lie openly on the surface. It must be sought, discovered and refined.

In the same way, we must look beyond the outward appearance of Jesus to understand who He truly is.

    Jeremiah 29:13:

โ€œAnd ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.โ€

Behind the soil, there may be gold.

Behind the humanity of Jesus, there is the revelation of God.

Jesus appeared as a man, but He was more than merely a man.

    John 10:30:

โ€œI and my Father are one.โ€

    John 20:28:

โ€œAnd Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.โ€

The Messiah was hidden behind the humanity of Jesus until He was revealed to those who believed.

ANY SPIRIT THAT DENIES JESUS CAME IN THE FLESH

The Bible gives a serious warning concerning any teaching that denies the incarnation.

    1 John 4:2โ€“3:

โ€œEvery spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of Godโ€ฆโ€

Jesus truly came in the flesh.

He was not merely a spiritual appearance. He was genuinely human while being divine.

    WHY ACTS 18:28 IS IMPORTANT

    Acts 18:28:

โ€œFor he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.โ€

Apollos and the early Christian preachers had to convince the Jews from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah.

Many Jews expected the Messiah to establish an earthly political kingdom and deliver them from their enemies. They struggled to understand the manner in which the Messiah would first come.

Jesus did not come first as an earthly political ruler. He came as the suffering Servant who would deal with the deeper problem of humanity sin.

    Isaiah 53:5:

โ€œBut he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquitiesโ€ฆโ€

His kingdom is ultimately spiritual and eternal.

    John 18:36:

โ€œMy kingdom is not of this worldโ€ฆโ€

    Luke 1:32โ€“33:

โ€œโ€ฆthe Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for everโ€ฆโ€

Therefore, Jesus did not fit the people's expectation of what the Messiah should look like, but the Scriptures testified concerning Him.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE: WHY PEOPLE STILL REJECT JESUS

Even today, many people reject Jesus because they do not understand what is behind the Gospel.

Some see religious hypocrisy, fanaticism, scandals, poor leadership or people who claim Christianity but do not demonstrate Christ-like character.

But the failure of people does not invalidate Jesus.

We must distinguish between Jesus Christ and the imperfections of people who claim to represent Him.

    Hebrews 12:2:

โ€œLooking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faithโ€ฆโ€

Our faith must ultimately be placed in Christ, not in imperfect human beings.

Some people look to God for survival, prosperity, longevity or protection but do not truly know Him.

They may place their hope in religious traditions, human philosophies or personal beliefs while rejecting God's saving grace.

But the Gospel points us back to Jesus.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO GOD

    Jesus made this clear:

    John 14:6:

โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.โ€

    Peter also declared:

    Acts 4:12:

โ€œNeither is there salvation in any otherโ€ฆโ€

Jesus did not merely claim to know the way. He declared Himself to be the Way.

His resurrection became one of the greatest proofs of His identity.

    Romans 1:4:

โ€œAnd declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.โ€

The Christian faith is therefore not founded merely on human philosophy but on the person, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

    CONCLUSION: WHO IS BEHIND JESUS?

Behind the humanity of Jesus is the divine revelation of God.

Jesus is the Word who became flesh.

    John 1:1โ€“3:

โ€œIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by himโ€ฆโ€

    And then:

    John 1:14:

โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usโ€ฆโ€

Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

    Colossians 1:15:

โ€œWho is the image of the invisible Godโ€ฆโ€

The fullness of God dwells in Him.

    Colossians 2:9:

โ€œFor in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.โ€

    He existed before Abraham.

    John 8:58:

    โ€œBefore Abraham was, I am.โ€

He is one with the Father.

    John 10:30:

โ€œI and my Father are one.โ€

    Thomas called Him God.

    John 20:28:

    โ€œMy Lord and my God.โ€

And the Father Himself speaks concerning the Son:

    Hebrews 1:8:

โ€œBut unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and everโ€ฆโ€

Therefore, when we look at Jesus, we must look beyond the physical appearance of the man and understand the divine truth revealed through Him.

Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh.
Jesus Christ is the revelation of God.
    Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
    Jesus Christ is the Saviour.
Jesus Christ is the Way to the Father.
And in Him is eternal life.

    FINAL CHALLENGE

Do not stop at what you see on the surface.

    Look behind Jesus.

Look beyond His humanity and discover His divine identity through the Scriptures.

    John 20:31:

โ€œBut these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.โ€

The goal is not merely to know about Jesus. The goal is to know Jesus, believe in Him, and receive the salvation and eternal life that are found in Him.
BEHIND JESUS TEXT: Acts 18:28 SUPPORTING TEXTS: John 1:1โ€“14; John 4:8, 24; Philippians 3:3 OBJECTIVES At the end of this teaching, participants should be able to: 1. INTRODUCTION Acts 18:28 (KJV): โ€œFor he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.โ€ The subject of Jesus Christ goes beyond what can be seen physically. To understand Jesus, we must look behind Jesusโ€”behind His humanity, His earthly appearance, His birth, His ministry, His death and resurrectionโ€”to discover who He truly is. The Bible teaches that God is Spirit: John 4:24 (KJV): โ€œGod is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.โ€ God is also love: 1 John 4:8: โ€œHe that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.โ€ Love cannot be seen with the physical eyes, and the Spirit cannot be seen with the physical eyes. Yet both are real. QUESTION Have you ever physically seen love? Have you ever physically seen a spirit? Although you cannot see love itself, you can see the manifestation of love through actions. Likewise, God, who is Spirit, made Himself known to humanity through Jesus Christ. John 1:14 (KJV): โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usโ€ฆโ€ Jesus is therefore the visible manifestation of the invisible God. Colossians 1:15: โ€œWho is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.โ€ 1. GOD MANIFESTED HIMSELF THROUGH MAN God revealed Himself through the human life of Jesus Christ so that humanity could know, believe, and receive Him. John 1:14: โ€œAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among usโ€ฆโ€ Jesus did not merely come to teach people about God. He came as God manifested in the flesh. 1 Timothy 3:16: โ€œGod was manifest in the fleshโ€ฆโ€ Jesus showed mankind what God is like through His character, words, works, compassion, holiness, power and love. 2. THE BREATH OF MAN IS LIMITED Man's physical life is temporary. The breath of man is dependent upon God. Isaiah 2:22: โ€œCease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?โ€ James 4:14: โ€œFor what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.โ€ Man's life is limited, but God's life is eternal. 3. THE LIFE OF GOD IS ETERNAL God does not depend upon another source for His existence. He is the eternal God. John 1:4: โ€œIn him was life; and the life was the light of men.โ€ John 11:25: โ€œJesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the lifeโ€ฆโ€ 1 John 5:11: โ€œAnd this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.โ€ The eternal life of God is revealed to humanity through Jesus Christ. 4. THE CHARACTER OF MAN IS CORRUPTED BY SIN Humanity, because of sin, cannot become its own saviour. Jeremiah 17:9: โ€œThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wickedโ€ฆโ€ Romans 3:23: โ€œFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.โ€ Man therefore needs salvation from outside himself. 5. THE CHARACTER OF GOD IS GOOD God is holy, righteous, loving and good. Psalm 100:5: โ€œFor the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.โ€ Psalm 145:9: โ€œThe LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.โ€ Jesus demonstrated the goodness and character of God among humanity. Acts 10:38: โ€œโ€ฆwho went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.โ€ 6. MAN CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF โ€” JESUS SAVES Religion cannot save man. Human wisdom cannot save man. Good works, by themselves, cannot save man. Ephesians 2:8โ€“9: โ€œFor by grace are ye saved through faithโ€ฆ Not of worksโ€ฆโ€ Salvation is found in Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12: โ€œNeither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.โ€ The God whom humanity could not physically see came near to humanity in Jesus Christโ€”and Jesus saves. THE REASON GOD MANIFESTED HIMSELF IN THE FLESH 1. SO THAT WE COULD SEE HIM God became visible through Jesus Christ. John 14:9: โ€œHe that hath seen me hath seen the Fatherโ€ฆโ€ Jesus is the revelation of the invisible God. Colossians 2:9: โ€œFor in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.โ€ 2. SO THAT WE COULD TOUCH HIM AND KNOW HIM John testified that Jesus was physically real. 1 John 1:1: โ€œThat which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyesโ€ฆ and our hands have handledโ€ฆโ€ The apostles did not proclaim an imaginary person. They witnessed, heard and physically encountered Jesus Christ. 3. SO THAT WE COULD FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM Jesus did not merely appear to humanity from a distance. He lived among people. 1 John 1:3: โ€œโ€ฆthat which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with usโ€ฆโ€ยปl Jesus also fellowshiped with His disciples. Matthew 26:30: โ€œAnd when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.โ€ He ate with them, walked with them, taught them and fellowshipped with them. 4. TO REVEAL THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH THE FLESH Jesus demonstrated God's power through miracles, healing, deliverance and authority. John 2:11: โ€œThis beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his gloryโ€ฆโ€ Acts 2:22: โ€œJesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signsโ€ฆโ€ His works revealed what was behind the humanityโ€”the divine nature and power of God. 5. TO EXPERIENCE HUMANITY AND IDENTIFY WITH US Jesus experienced hunger, thirst, weariness, sorrow, rejection and temptation, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15: โ€œFor we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmitiesโ€ฆโ€ Hebrews 2:17: โ€œWherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethrenโ€ฆโ€ He understands what humanity experiences. 6. TO SHED HIS BLOOD FOR OUR SALVATION The ultimate reason for His manifestation was redemption. Matthew 26:28: โ€œFor this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.โ€ 1 Peter 1:18โ€“19: โ€œโ€ฆye were not redeemed with corruptible thingsโ€ฆ But with the precious blood of Christโ€ฆโ€ Jesus came to die for the sins of humanity and rise again. 1 Corinthians 15:3โ€“4: โ€œChrist died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third dayโ€ฆโ€ YOU CANNOT GET GOD CHEAPLY Gold does not usually lie openly on the surface. It must be sought, discovered and refined. In the same way, we must look beyond the outward appearance of Jesus to understand who He truly is. Jeremiah 29:13: โ€œAnd ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.โ€ Behind the soil, there may be gold. Behind the humanity of Jesus, there is the revelation of God. Jesus appeared as a man, but He was more than merely a man. John 10:30: โ€œI and my Father are one.โ€ John 20:28: โ€œAnd Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.โ€ The Messiah was hidden behind the humanity of Jesus until He was revealed to those who believed. ANY SPIRIT THAT DENIES JESUS CAME IN THE FLESH The Bible gives a serious warning concerning any teaching that denies the incarnation. 1 John 4:2โ€“3: โ€œEvery spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of Godโ€ฆโ€ Jesus truly came in the flesh. He was not merely a spiritual appearance. He was genuinely human while being divine. WHY ACTS 18:28 IS IMPORTANT Acts 18:28: โ€œFor he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.โ€ Apollos and the early Christian preachers had to convince the Jews from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah. Isaiah 53:5: โ€œBut he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquitiesโ€ฆโ€ His kingdom is ultimately spiritual and eternal. John 18:36: โ€œMy kingdom is not of this worldโ€ฆโ€ Luke 1:32โ€“33: โ€œโ€ฆthe Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for everโ€ฆโ€ Therefore, Jesus did not fit the people's expectation of what the Messiah should look like, but the Scriptures testified concerning Him. CONTEND FOR THE FAITH!

    TEXT: JUDE 1:1โ€“25

    KEY VERSE:

ยซโ€œBeloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.โ€ โ€” Jude 1:3 (KJV)ยป

The Christian faith is precious, powerful, and worth defending. In his short but powerful letter, Jude warned believers about false teachers and ungodly influences that had entered among God's people.

Jude's message is simple but urgent:

DO NOT GIVE UP THE FAITH!

We live in a world where truth is often questioned, biblical values are increasingly challenged, and many voices compete for our attention.

But the believer is called to remain rooted in God's Word and to earnestly contend for the faith.

    THREE LESSONS FROM JUDE

    CONTEND FOR THE FAITH.

    Jude 1:3 says:

ยซโ€œ...earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.โ€ยป

To contend for the faith does not mean fighting people. It means standing firmly for the truth of God's Word.

Don't abandon biblical truth because it is unpopular.

Don't compromise your convictions because of pressure.

Don't change God's standards simply because society has changed.

Stand for Christ. Stand for truth. Stand for the Gospel.

    BEWARE OF UNGODLY INFLUENCES.

Jude warned that certain ungodly people had secretly entered among the believers.

Their presence was dangerous because they could influence others away from the truth.

This teaches us that not every teaching, philosophy, lifestyle, or spiritual message should be accepted without examination.

Test what you hear against Scripture.
    ๐Ÿฝ Ask God for discernment.
    Watch the influences around you.
    Protect your relationship with Christ.

Be careful what you allow to shape your thinking.

    BUILD YOURSELF UP SPIRITUALLY.

Jude 1:20โ€“21 gives believers a powerful instruction:

ยซโ€œBut ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God...โ€ยป

    Notice the progression:

    Build yourself on the faith.
๐Ÿฝ Pray in the Holy Ghost.
    Keep yourself in God's love.
Look for the mercy of Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

A strong Christian life does not happen accidentally.

You must intentionally develop your relationship with God.

    Pray.

    Study the Word.

    Worship.

    Obey God.

    Stay connected to Christ.

    DON'T COMPROMISE YOUR FAITH

The pressure to compromise can come from many directions.

    Friends may pressure you.

    Society may pressure you.

    Relationships may pressure you.

    Entertainment may pressure you.

Even people who claim to know God may pressure you.

    But remember:

Your faith is more valuable than acceptance from people.

Never exchange eternal truth for temporary popularity.

    Never exchange holiness for pleasure.

Never exchange your relationship with Christ for worldly approval.

HAVE MERCY ON THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING

Jude does not only tell believers to defend the faith; he also teaches us how to respond to people who are struggling.

    Jude 1:22 says:

ยซโ€œAnd of some have compassion, making a difference.โ€ยป

There are people who need correction, but they also need compassion.

There are people who have wandered, but they can still be restored.

There are people who are confused, but God can use you to lead them back to truth.

Therefore, stand firmly for truth while showing the love of Christ.

KEEP YOURSELF IN THE LOVE OF GOD

    Jude 1:21 says:

ยซโ€œKeep yourselves in the love of God...โ€ยป

This does not mean that God's love is weak or that we must earn His love.

It is a call to remain in fellowship and obedience to Him.

Don't allow sin to become your lifestyle.

Don't allow bitterness to occupy your heart.

Don't allow worldly desires to take the place of Christ.

    Stay close to Jesus.

GOD IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU

The letter of Jude ends with one of the most beautiful declarations of God's power:

ยซโ€œNow unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy...โ€ โ€” Jude 1:24ยป

    What a powerful assurance!

    We are called to contend.

    We are called to watch.

    We are called to pray.

We are called to remain faithful.

But ultimately, God is the One who keeps us. ๐Ÿฝ

When you feel weak, He can strengthen you.

When you are tempted, He can help you.

When you are discouraged, He can restore you.

When you are struggling, He can keep you from falling.

    โœ๐Ÿฝ THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

A believer who knows the value of the Gospel will stand firmly for the truth, walk faithfully with Christ, and never trade eternal truth for temporary approval.

    ๐Ÿฝ PRAYER

    Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the precious gift of salvation and for the faith You have entrusted to us.

Give me grace to earnestly contend for the faith. Help me to recognize false teachings and ungodly influences. Give me spiritual discernment to know what is true and courage to stand for Your Word.

Build me up in my most holy faith. Teach me to pray consistently and keep me in Your love.

Help me to show compassion to those who are struggling and to point them back to Jesus.

Lord, keep me from falling. Preserve my faith, strengthen my walk, and help me remain faithful until the end.

To You be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, both now and forever. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. ๐Ÿฝ

    SPIRITUAL GIFTS AND MINISTRIES

God bestows upon all members of His church in every age spiritual gifts that each member is to employ in loving ministry for the common good of the church and of humanity. Given by the agency of the Holy Spirit, who apportions to each member as He wills, the gifts provide all abilities and ministries needed by the church to fulfill its divinely ordained functons. According to the Scriptures, these gifts include such ministries as faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, and self-sacrificing service and charity for the help and encouragement of people. Some members are called of God and endowed by the Spirit for functions recognized by the church in pastoral, evangelistic, and teaching ministries particularly needed to equip the members for service, to build up the church to spiritual maturity, and to foster unity of the faith and knowledge of God. When members employ these spiritual gifts as faithful stewards of Godโ€™s varied grace, the church is protected from the destructive influence of false doctrine, grows with a growth that is from God, and is built up in faith and love.

  • The Kitchen Newsletter

    Good day,
Welcome to The Kitchen, where we explore, prepare and serve the contents in the Body of the Word as the delicacies of God—to create the form of the Father on the earth, to make the earth in His likeness, and to take charge of the economic destinies of nations for God.

Relax, and let's journey through the scriptures to see the Body of the Word.

What if the descriptions of the body of Jesus Christ in Scripture are not merely descriptions of what John or Ezekiel saw—but windows into the invisible God?

John was on Patmos when he heard a voice behind him. He turned, and what he saw was extraordinary: a figure like the Son of Man, standing among seven golden lampstands. His hair was white like wool, His eyes were like blazing fire, His feet like bronze glowing in a furnace, His voice like rushing waters, and His face like the sun in all its brilliance.

John did not encounter an idea.

    He encountered a Person.

He encountered Jesus Christ, the living Word of God, in the appearance of a man and with a body (Revelation 1:1–2, 12–17; Ezekiel 1:26).

This gives us a remarkable way of reading Scripture: the Body of the Word is a revelation of the invisible God.

Hebrews 1:3 calls Christ “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being.” Paul similarly speaks of “the light of the knowledge of God’s glory” in the face of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Therefore, when Scripture describes the eyes, face, feet, voice, garments, or other details of the Word, these descriptions are not empty imagery. They invite us to inquire into the Person they reveal.

    Consider the eyes.

    John says:

“His eyes were like blazing fire.”
    — Revelation 1:14

    Why blazing fire?

Hebrews 12:29 tells us, “Our God is a consuming fire.”

The image therefore takes us beyond the physical description of eyes. It begins to tell us something about the nature, passion, desire and activity of God.

The Body of the Word becomes a language through which the invisible God makes Himself known.

And this is where the subject becomes particularly provocative.

    The Father has a hunger.

We often speak about our hunger for God. But what if Scripture also teaches us to consider the hunger of God?

Isaiah speaks of the tongue of the Lord as a consuming fire (Isaiah 30:27). Jesus declares:

“I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
    — John 6:33

    And:

“I am the bread of life.”
    — John 6:35

Then He makes the statement even more striking:

    “This bread is my flesh.”
    — John 6:51

The bread placed continually before God in the tabernacle was called the bread of the Presence (Exodus 25:30).

So the Body of the Word is not merely something we study. In this revelation, the Body of the Word is the food of God—the object of the Father’s intense desire.

The dining table becomes a powerful picture.

Song of Solomon 7:2 speaks of a rounded goblet, blended wine and a mound of wheat. The imagery presents the Body as a place of nourishment and abundance.

What if our understanding of the Body of the Word is itself part of the Father’s desire?

What if the question is not merely, “How much do I know about God?”

    But:

“What does God desire to find in me?”

This takes us directly to the image of the blazing eyes.

The eye is described by Jesus as the lamp of the body (Matthew 6:22). The blazing eyes of the Word therefore present another dimension of the Body: the lamp of God.

    A lamp searches.

    A lamp illuminates.

A lamp reveals what is hidden.

Psalm 11:5 says that the Lord examines the righteous, while Psalm 14:2 says that He looks down from heaven to see whether there is anyone who understands and seeks Him.

    Notice the connection.

The blazing eyes are not merely looking at us.

They are looking for something in us.

    They are looking for understanding.

The Father is looking for the knowledge of the Body of the Word in the hearts and minds of His people.

That changes the way we think about revelation.

    Psalm 119:130 says:

“The unfolding of your words gives light and understanding to the simple.”

The Word contains depths that must be unfolded.

And when the details of the Body of the Word are unfolded, they bring light—the revelation knowledge of the Father (Psalm 119:130; 2 Corinthians 4:6).

This is also why Jesus said:

“These are the Scriptures that testify about me.”
    — John 5:39

The Scriptures are not merely information about religious subjects. They testify about a Person.

The descriptions of the Body of the Word therefore become places of investigation.

    The eyes speak.

    The face speaks.

    The feet speak.

    The garments speak.

    The voice speaks.

And through these descriptions, we begin to encounter dimensions of the Person of the Word—and consequently dimensions of the Father.

The emotions of God are also revealed.

Isaiah 59:17 describes God clothing Himself with zeal “as a cloak.”

A garment covers and expresses the person wearing it.

If the garments of God are described through Scripture, and Scripture testifies about the Word, then the imagery of God's garments becomes another doorway into understanding His Person.

The Body of the Word, therefore, becomes a profound vocabulary for understanding the emotions of God.

    His zeal.

    His longing.

    His desire.

    His hunger.

    His compassion.

    His grief.

    His expectation.

    His pleasure.

    His intensity.

These are not abstract theological categories. They are dimensions of the Person of God that Scripture progressively reveals.

And who searches these depths for us?

    The Holy Spirit.

Jesus says in John 16:13–15 that the Spirit of truth will take what belongs to Christ and make it known to us.

    Paul adds:

“The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”
    — 1 Corinthians 2:10

The Body of the Word is therefore not a closed mystery.

It is a treasury to be searched.

The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God and unfolds them so that we can know the Father more precisely.

This is why revelation is more than acquiring information.

Revelation is discovering what is already contained in the Person of the Word.

And perhaps this explains one of the great spiritual questions of our time:

Why does God seem to be searching the hearts of His people?

Because the Father is looking for a place where the Body of theWord can be understood.

He is looking for hearts that can become tables upon which His food is received.

He is looking for minds that can accommodate the revelation of His Son.

He is looking for people who will not merely quote Scripture, but will allow Scripture to reveal the Person of Christ.

The blazing eyes of the Word are still searching.

    And the question is:

What are they looking for in us?

Perhaps the answer is simpler—and more demanding—than we imagined:

    Understanding.

An understanding of the Body of the Word.

    An understanding of the Father.

An understanding deep enough to shape how we live, how we build, how we govern, how we work, and ultimately how we participate in the economic destinies of nations.

The Father wants His form reproduced on the earth through people who have seen, understood and received the revelation of the Body of the Word.

This is why we must return to Scripture—not merely to read it, but to unfold it.

Because somewhere within the details is light.

And somewhere within the light is the knowledge of the Father.

And somewhere within that knowledge is the revelation of the Person of the Word.
