  • Two Words for Time That Changed How I Read the Gospels
English has one word for time. Greek has two, and the difference quietly transforms how we read the New Testament.
Chronos (χρόνος) is clock time. Measurable. Sequential. How long, how many days. It's where we get "chronology" and "chronicle."
Kairos (καιρός) is something harder to pin down — the appointed moment, the right time, time loaded with meaning rather than just duration. Ancient Greeks used it in archery: the precise instant to release the arrow. Miss it, and the shot is lost.
The Gospel writers knew exactly which word to reach for.
When Mark opens Jesus' ministry, he doesn't write "after a long time had passed." He writes: "The kairos is fulfilled" (Mark 1:15). Not a clock announcement — a cosmic one. The entire arc of Israel's story had been moving toward this moment. The bow is fully drawn. The arrow released.
Paul says something similar in Galatians 4:4 — "when the fullness of time (χρόνος) came, God sent forth His Son." Sequential time had been running its course until it tipped over (“filled to the brim”) into the appointed moment.
Even after the resurrection, this holds. Jesus appears in locked rooms, on unrecognised roads, at a dawn shoreline — no chronos-logic, no schedule. Every appearance is a kairos: wounds touched, doubts met, a commission at shore. Nothing accidental. Jesus operates in kairos — in divinely appointed, irreversible moments of significance.
And at Pentecost, Peter quotes Joel — "In the last days..." The kairos hasn't closed. It has opened wider. We live, as it were, in the tension between kairos fulfilled and kairos approaching.
Most of us live almost entirely in chronos — anxious about time running out, frustrated by delays, measuring life in deadlines. But maybe the more important question isn't how much time I have?
Maybe it's — is this the moment?
Has there been a kairos in your own life — a moment that felt charged, significant, like something was being decided?
    I'd love to hear.

The message this morning is not only teaching on the covenants with Abraham & Israel as a nation, but also how this applies to our calling & faith. Besides that it is also a spiritual declaration, pushing back against Antisemitism in the Media, Government & false Denominational Church "Doctrines", which are the seed for "Christian" Antisemitism.

  • Dear Friends in Christ
I have been involved in prison ministry since 2002, I started as a volunteer prison Chaplain in Adelaide South Australia and in 2009, I go involved with a prison ministry called KAIROS. This prison ministry is a three and half day course held in a prison. I have been involved with KAIROS prison ministry since 2009. I have been involved with 16 KAIROS course. They are held twice a year at Mobilong Prison near the town of Murray Bridge South Australia. Last week I had the privilege to serve on KAIROS Mobilong 38, this course ran from Tuesday 16th June till Friday 19th June. On this short course 16 men heard the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There were two men wo were Christian and because of this course began to follow Jesus again. On this KAIROS the men are offered a Bible and a leather Cross. All 16 men took the Bible and a leather Cross. KAIROS began in South Australia in 2002 and I know that since the very first KAIROS course till KAIROS course 38 around 880 men have heard the Gospel. I know of at least 30 men openly give their hearts to Jesus Christ and many seeds planted into men's lives. In the last 12 months at Mobilong prison 6 prisoners have been baptised. On the outside I know of 6 KAIROS graduates who got baptised at a local Church. I praise God for the privilege to serve KAIROS prison ministry. I have seen men's lives changed and set free.

  • Psalm 75:2 You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.

This psalm was written to be sung by Asaph’s choir and was used in times of threat or as celebration for deliverance. It begins with a declaration of praise and then follows today’s verse.

In this verse, we have God speaking to us directly. We see Him stating that He chooses the time. But what is He referring to when He says “the appointed time?” In this instance, we turn to the context to help guide our interpretation and determine what is being said. The sentence continues after the semicolon - it is He Who judges. So we see that it is God Who determines the appropriate time for judgement.

The appointed time that God speaks of is not to be interpreted literally as per our calendars (the Hebrew word chronos is used to refer to our earthly, measurable calendars). Instead, He speaks of a divine timing (the word kairos, something we cannot measure because only He knows that time). We must remember that justice from the Lord will most likely not come when we want it to but it will come in His divine timing. We see the Hebrew word shaphat used, which means to govern, vindicate, punish, or decide a case. It is the root word for “I will judge.” He says “I WILL,” a promise that He will step in and do something. He WILL do it. He WILL judge. He WILL serve justice where needed.

We can rest in the assurance that we have a Father Who loves us and wants to provide for us, which includes justice. No matter what is going on in the world, no matter how many struggles we face in our life, and no matter how arrogant and self-centered we may be at the time, God will step in and execute a fair and righteous judgement in His timing. This is guaranteed and something we shouldn’t worry about.

Until that time, we should be living a life that is righteous. Confess your sins, repent of them and change your ways. And trust that He will step in and render justice where due, in HIS timing, not our own.

  • I'm Rhicel Behic Kho, a Christian Educator, Missionary, and a Church Admin. Graduated in Calvary Bible Institute Philippines last 2016 with the majority of Systematic Theology and Kairos Mission. From Calvary Chapel Dumaguete, Philippines!

Before I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ, my life was empty like an empty shell, no life & nor direction. My family was a devoted Roman Catholic from my father and mother's parents, from our great grandparents! I was active in the activity in that association, yet don't know the purpose of my life.

Why do I exist? Why am I here? What's the purpose of my existence? Is God real? Who created God in the first place? Who can be a mediator of human beings and the existence of their purposes in life?

Those questions keep bothering me until I get a chance to know who God is!

But before knowing God, I was in a traumatic experience of being physically and verbally abused. With that I learned how to defend myself. Every time I left the house for school, back in the elementary until high school, I always brought a double blade nail cutter and a clean smooth stone with me just in case something happens. I also used a sharp pencil to stab my classmates who tend to bully me, young or adults, I learned to fight them back physically & verbally, and my parents wouldn't believe me every time I told them about what was going on. In short no one believes, they think that I was just making stories, or make fun of, but showing to them the bruises in my tiny body, in my tiny arms, wouldn't convince them at all.

And so, with that, I started to question God! Are you even real? Do you even care? Are you aware that I was facing this kind of difficulty?

And one time, my mom brought me and even encouraged me to go to the priest to ask for confession. When I was there in a small hole inside the room in the confession room, I heard a man's voice, saying, "go on, tell me what you did / do wrong", and I just responded, "who are you, anyway?" And he said, "I'm the priest", and I asked him, "hello, father! Why would I confess to you when you are just like me - a human being?" And he said, "because I am the one can access to God and bring your sins to him, I am the mediator between god and the people, that's why I'm here, and I responded him with confusion, "why is it that you seems so sure that only you can access or have an access to God, yet you are only a human being, is there any level of keys that only a priest can access to it, and since you're a mediator. Did God Himself tell you that you only can have access to Him, and that He tells you to become a mediator, when you are still in your sinful nature?" And he said, "why are you doubting? You are like the doubting Thomas, one of jesus disciples" you are here to confess not to debate me". And I responded to him with a lower voice, "father, I'm sorry, I don't need to confess my sin to you, because you also make mistakes like me, I believe that there's someone greater than you who can mediate God to man, I just don't know where to find that! I cannot push myself to confess to a priest who also fails in the sight of God because of our nature." Then he cut me of my reasoning, then he said, "no one can have access to God only the priest, now you may go out, because you are wasting my time here," and I told him these, "father, in that sense, you are already sinning, because you don't know how to cater your flocks." Then I walked away slowly, wandering around the church, while looking at the statue that was displayed on. And my mind, keep saying "they weren't true, they don't get tired of standing and posing the same posture in that same position all day and every day! They're dead and never alive. And so am I!

Past forward in 2008, I came to know God. There was a couple who never stopped reaching me out and leading me to who God is, they were the couple who answered those questions that kept popping up in my head, and I became an Evangelical Christian all through out of their eagerness and example as Christ likeness. The first songs that I was hearing that day were "Amazing Grace" and Ptr. Nathan Lee was the one preaching on that Sunday, I found myself crying and standing in front of the crowds raising up my hands 🏽. I felt something pouring in my whole body, and I felt like I was renewed, from dead to life. Yes, I was dead because my spirit is empty and I'm dead to sin, but after receiving and believing in God (Romans 10:9 - 10) I was saved. It was only by God's grace! He knows what's best for me! He even used people around me to help me grow in faith and in the knowledge of Him.

In 2010 of September 26. I got baptized, and I knew and understood what it meant to be for. For God revealed it to me step by step, until I knew that He called me to go (Matthew 28:18 -20) and be part of His Kingdom.

2013 My late Pastor Jimmy Sycip allowed me to go to the Bible College, which was the name before was Calvary Chapel Bible College and now replaced it with "Calvary Bible Institute" in the Philippines!

That's why, I am here to continue my passion and advocacy to spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for He alone is the solution that every one needed in life! Leading everyone to Christ (the Messiah)!

Thank you for reading my testimony! I have been serving God since 2014, in some churches and one of them is the Church that helps me discover more of Him in the PBCC or Parañaque Bible Christian church! I am leading a children's ministries both in Outreaches and Sunday School and helping some church office related stuff as well, conducting training to other churches who needed the most.

God never delayed His promises and purpose! Just believe! And He will do it for you!
All glory belongs to HIM and HIM alone! 🏽🏽🏽

Thank you again! And God bless you everyone!

  • TODAY'S MESSAGE

SERMON TITLE: TODAY IS A GIFT – USE IT WISELY

    Beloved, hear this truth:
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is not promised. Today is all you truly have.

Many people are waiting for a “better time” to pray, to change, to forgive, to start again… but that time never comes.
Every wasted day is a destiny delayed.
Every ignored moment is a missed divine opportunity.
    Today is not ordinary.
Today is a gift from God — and how you use it determines your future.

    KEY BIBLE VERSES
    1. Psalm 118:24
"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Every day is handcrafted by God. It carries purpose, opportunities, and divine encounters. If you don’t rejoice and engage it, you may miss what God packaged inside it.
    2. Ephesians 5:15–16
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity..."
Time is not just passing — it is being spent. Wise people invest their day; foolish people waste it.
    3. Proverbs 27:1
"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring."
Tomorrow is uncertain. The only guaranteed moment to act, repent, grow, and obey God is today.
    4. Hebrews 3:15
"Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."
God speaks in the present. Delayed obedience is often disobedience.

    STRUCTURED POINTS

    1. TODAY IS A DIVINE OPPORTUNITY
    Every day carries heaven’s agenda.
    A prayer you must pray
    A person you must help
A decision that will shape your destiny
If you ignore today, you may delay your breakthrough.

    2. TODAY IS A TEST OF DISCIPLINE

What you do daily determines who you become permanently.
Small habits today = Big results tomorrow
    Neglect today = Regret tomorrow

God watches how you use your ordinary days before giving you extraordinary ones.
    3. TODAY CAN CHANGE YOUR STORY

    One day can shift everything.
    One prayer can open heaven
One decision can redirect your life
One encounter can transform your destiny
Never underestimate the power of a single day.
    4. TODAY IS A BATTLE AGAINST PROCRASTINATION

Procrastination is a silent destiny killer.
    “I will pray later”
    “I will start tomorrow”
    “I will change someday”
That “someday” is the graveyard of many great destinies.

    BIBLICAL CASE STUDY

The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:39–43)

This man had wasted his life in crime. But in his final day, he made a decision.
    He said: “Jesus, remember me…”
    And Jesus replied:
“Today you will be with me in paradise.”

He didn’t have years. He had one moment — and he used it wisely.

    Lesson:
It is never too late… but it must be today.

    PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS

    1. Start your day with God
Even 10–15 minutes of prayer and Word can shape your entire day.
    2. Set 3 meaningful goals daily
Not just activities — purpose-driven actions.
    3. Avoid time-wasters
Reduce distractions that steal your focus and destiny.
    4. Do one act of kindness daily
    Be intentional about impacting someone.
    5. End your day with reflection
Ask: Did I use today well?
    DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS

Time is not just physical — it is spiritual currency
God measures life not by years, but by usefulness and obedience
Delayed obedience can lead to missed divine timing
Kairos moments (God’s timing) come disguised as ordinary days.
If you waste the day, you may miss the moment.

    QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

    1. Am I using my days wisely or just passing time?
    2. What have I been postponing that I must start today?
    3. If today were my last day, would I be satisfied with how I lived it?
    4. What is God asking me to do today that I’ve been ignoring?

    POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS

    1. Father, open my eyes to the value of today in Jesus’ name.
    2. Lord, deliver me from procrastination and laziness.
    3. Help me to use my time wisely and purposefully.
    4. Every opportunity assigned to today, I will not miss it!
    5. Grace to act, obey, and grow — release it upon me now!

    STRONG CLOSING CALL TO ACTION

    Beloved, hear this clearly:
You don’t need a new year. You need a new use of today.
    Stop waiting.
    Stop delaying.
    Stop wasting time.

    Start praying today.
    Start changing today.
    Start obeying today.
    Because the truth is this:
The future you are praying for is hidden inside what you do today.

Rise up. Take action. Use today wisely. Please share this message.

If you have not given your life to Jesus kindly do so by joining a Bible believing Church.

TODAY'S MESSAGE SERMON TITLE: TODAY IS A GIFT – USE IT WISELY Beloved, hear this truth: Yesterday is gone. 📖 KEY BIBLE VERSES 1. Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." ➡️ Every day is handcrafted by God. It carries purpose, opportunities, and divine encounters. If you don’t rejoice and engage it, you may miss what God packaged inside it. 2. Ephesians 5:15–16 "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity..." ➡️ Time is not just passing — it is being spent. Wise people invest their day; foolish people waste it. 3. Proverbs 27:1 "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring." ➡️ Tomorrow is uncertain. The only guaranteed moment to act, repent, grow, and obey God is today. 4. Hebrews 3:15 "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." ➡️ God speaks in the present. Delayed obedience is often disobedience. 🧭 STRUCTURED POINTS 1. TODAY IS A DIVINE OPPORTUNITY Every day carries heaven’s agenda. A prayer you must pray A person you must help A decision that will shape your destiny If you ignore today, you may delay your breakthrough. 2. TODAY IS A TEST OF DISCIPLINE What you do daily determines who you become permanently. Small habits today = Big results tomorrow Neglect today = Regret tomorrow God watches how you use your ordinary days before giving you extraordinary ones. 3. TODAY CAN CHANGE YOUR STORY One day can shift everything. One prayer can open heaven One decision can redirect your life One encounter can transform your destiny Never underestimate the power of a single day. 4. TODAY IS A BATTLE AGAINST PROCRASTINATION Procrastination is a silent destiny killer. “I will pray later” “I will start tomorrow” “I will change someday” That “someday” is the graveyard of many great destinies. 📖 BIBLICAL CASE STUDY The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:39–43) This man had wasted his life in crime. But in his final day, he made a decision. He said: “Jesus, remember me…” And Jesus replied: “Today you will be with me in paradise.” ➡️ He didn’t have years. He had one moment — and he used it wisely. Lesson: It is never too late… but it must be today. 🛠️ PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS 1. Start your day with God Even 10–15 minutes of prayer and Word can shape your entire day. 2. Set 3 meaningful goals daily Not just activities — purpose-driven actions. 3. Avoid time-wasters Reduce distractions that steal your focus and destiny. 4. Do one act of kindness daily Be intentional about impacting someone. 5. End your day with reflection Ask: Did I use today well? 🌊 DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS Time is not just physical — it is spiritual currency God measures life not by years, but by usefulness and obedience Delayed obedience can lead to missed divine timing Kairos moments (God’s timing) come disguised as ordinary days. If you waste the day, you may miss the moment. 🤔 QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION 1. Am I using my days wisely or just passing time? 2. What have I been postponing that I must start today? 3. If today were my last day, would I be satisfied with how I lived it? 4. What is God asking me to do today that I’ve been ignoring? 🙏 POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS 1. 🚨 STRONG CLOSING CALL TO ACTION Beloved, hear this clearly: You don’t need a new year. You need a new use of today. Stop waiting. Stop delaying. Stop wasting time. Start praying today. Start changing today. Start obeying today. Because the truth is this: 👉 The future you are praying for is hidden inside what you do today. Rise up. Take action. Use today wisely. Please share this message. If you have not given your life to Jesus kindly do so by joining a Bible believing Church. • Lately I’ve been overwhelmed — in a good way — thinking about how God has allowed me to serve as the pastor of West Bay Advent Christian Church. It’s a heavy responsibility, and some days it sits on my shoulders with real weight… but it’s a beautiful weight. It’s the kind of burden that reminds me I’m right where God wants me. Shepherding this church family has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

As my wife and I come up on six years here, I can look back and see how many ministries God has opened for us. Foster care has been one of the hardest things we’ve ever stepped into. It’s demanding. It’s emotional. It stretches you in places you didn’t know you could stretch. But even in the hardest moments, we’ve felt God’s comfort and His presence in ways we never would have known otherwise. He’s met us there.

I’m also grateful for the doors God has opened in the Florida Conference. Serving as President of the Western District and Vice President of the state conference is something I never imagined for myself. Yet God keeps placing me in rooms and roles that remind me this calling is bigger than me. Being part of the LEAD Team with other pastors and leaders has been a blessing I didn’t even know I needed. Those relationships, those conversations — they’ve shaped me.

This year I’m stepping into Kairos Prison Ministry, starting training in February. I don’t know exactly what God will do with it, but I feel Him pulling me there. And I’m thankful for the Gospel Grit podcast. The idea that God might use a simple episode to bring someone to Christ or to wake up a sleeping heart… that humbles me deeply.

The truth is, I do all these things because I love and respect the calling God put on my life. I’m not perfect. I feel like Jonah sometimes — running, wrestling, arguing with God in my own heart. But even in those moments, I know this: I have a real heart for lost people. That’s why I keep saying “yes.” That’s why I keep stepping into places that stretch me. I do it for them.

And this spring, I’m returning to something that’s been on my heart for a long time — street evangelizing with my old bullhorn. Not to condemn. Not to shout people down. But to lift up the name of Jesus and tell anyone who will listen about the redeeming love that saved me and can save them too.

I’m grateful. I’m humbled. And I’m amazed that God still chooses to use someone like me. To Him be all the glory.
