• 1 John 2:16
@16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

This verse, 1 John 2:16, is a sharp reminder of the spiritual battle between what belongs to God and what belongs to the world. John identifies three powerful temptations that often pull people away from the Father:
    • Lust of the flesh — the cravings of our physical nature, whether for pleasure, indulgence, or comfort, that can dominate our choices if unchecked.
    • Lust of the eyes — the desire stirred by what we see, often leading to covetousness, envy, or material obsession.
    • Pride of life — the arrogance of self-sufficiency, boasting in achievements, possessions, or status rather than humbly depending on God.
John makes it clear: these things are not of the Father, but of the world. They are distractions that keep us from walking in the Spirit and reflecting Christ’s humility and obedience. This verse echoes the temptations Jesus faced in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–11): the devil tempted Him with bread (lust of the flesh), the kingdoms of the world (lust of the eyes), and testing God’s protection (pride of life). Unlike Adam and Eve, Jesus resisted, showing us how to overcome through Scripture and reliance in God.

  • OUR PRESENT ON EARTH IS TEMPORARY

Life on earth is not permanent. Every human being is only passing through this world.

No matter how rich, powerful, famous, or influential a person may become, one day everything on earth will be left behind. The houses, cars, money, titles, and possessions cannot follow us into eternity.

The Bible reminds us that our real home is not here on earth. We are strangers and pilgrims preparing for eternity.

Many people live as if this world is all there is, but believers must remember that heaven is our final destination.

    1. Earthly Life Is Short

“For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” — James 4:14

    Life is like:

    A vapour

    Morning dew

    Flowing water

    Grass that fades away

Today a person is young and strong; tomorrow old age comes. One day every person will stand before God.

Many people waste their lives chasing temporary pleasures while ignoring eternity.

    2. Nothing Earthly Lasts Forever

“For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” — Hebrews 13:14

Everything on earth has an expiry date:

    Wealth fades

    Beauty changes

    Fame disappears

    Human strength fails

Even kingdoms and empires have disappeared from history. This teaches us not to put our hearts completely on worldly things.

Jesus warned that treasures on earth can be destroyed by moth, rust, and thieves. But heavenly treasures remain forever.

    3. Our Citizenship Is in Heaven

“For our conversation is in heaven…” — Philippians 3:20

Believers are heavenly citizens living temporarily on earth. We must live differently from the world:

    Walking in holiness

    Living by faith

    Showing love

    Obeying God

    Preparing for Christ’s return

A traveler does not permanently settle in a hotel because he knows he will soon leave. In the same way, Christians should not become too attached to worldly pleasures.

    4. We Must Prepare for Eternity

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen…” — 2 Corinthians 4:18

The unseen eternal things are more important than temporary earthly things.

    Questions every person should ask:

Am I ready to meet God?

Is my name in the Book of Life?

Am I living for heaven or only for this world?

What legacy am I leaving behind?

    One day:

    Earthly activities will end

    Judgment will come

    Eternity will begin

Wise people prepare before that day comes.

    5. Number Your Days Wisely

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12

    To number our days means:

    Living with wisdom

    Avoiding sin

    Using time well

    Serving God faithfully

    Making peace with people

    Winning souls for Christ

Every day is a gift from God and should be used meaningfully.

    Life on earth is temporary.

    Material things cannot save us.

    Heaven and eternity are real.

    We must live prepared lives.

Holiness and obedience to God matter greatly.

Time should not be wasted on sin and worldly distractions.

    Conclusion

This world is not our permanent home. We came with nothing, and we shall leave with nothing. The most important thing is to know God and be prepared for eternity.

Do not live only for temporary things. Live for God. Serve faithfully. Walk in righteousness. Keep your faith alive. One day believers will leave this temporary world and enter eternal glory with Christ.

“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.” — 1 John 2:17

    Prayer Points

Father, help me to remember that this world is temporary.

Lord, help me to live a life that pleases You.

Father, remove every worldly distraction from my life.

Help me to prepare daily for eternity.

Lord, let my name remain in the Book of Life.

Give me grace to finish my Christian journey well.

  • DEMAS

DON’T TRADE YOUR CALLING FOR THE WORLD

2 Timothy 4:10 — “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world…”

    Demas started strong.
    He was close to Paul.
    He was in ministry.
He was counted among the faithful.

    But something shifted…
    Not because of pressure—
    But because of attraction.

    Demas didn’t fall—he drifted.
    He didn’t crash—he walked away.

The danger is not always persecution…
Sometimes it’s the pull of the present world.
    • Comfort over calling
    • Pleasure over purpose
    • Convenience over commitment

You can be close to the anointing…
    and still lose your focus.

    Demas reminds us:
It’s not how you start—it’s how you finish
What you love will determine what you leave
You must guard your heart from subtle drift

    2 Timothy 4:7 — “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course…”

    DECLARE THIS:
I will not be a Demas!
I will not trade my destiny for temporary things!
I stay focused, faithful, and committed to my assignment!
    I will finish strong!

Stay locked in. Stay on fire. Stay faithful.

    Jesus made it clear:

No man knows the day or the hour.

    Speculation distracts.

    Obedience prepares.

Live every day like He could come.

  • Be Careful: You May Have Earthly Documents and Lack Heavenly Documents.

In today’s world, people pursue earthly documents—certificates, passports, land titles, licenses, contracts, and accolades.

These documents grant access, identity, and privilege on earth. Yet Scripture warns that there are heavenly documents—records kept by God—that ultimately determine eternal destiny.

A person may be fully documented on earth and still be undocumented in heaven.

This sermon calls us to examine not what we carry in our files, but what is written in God’s books.

    1. Earthly Documents Are Temporary

Earthly documents have value—but only within time.

    Degrees expire in relevance.

    Passports lose validity.

    Properties change ownership.

    Positions end.

Jesus illustrated this with the rich fool who had barns full but a soul empty (Luke 12:16–21). When death came, his earthly records could not negotiate with eternity.

Lesson: Earthly documents expire at death; heavenly documents speak beyond death.

    2. Heaven Keeps Records

The Bible clearly teaches that heaven has books.

Book of Life (Revelation 20:12; Philippians 4:3)

    Book of Works/Remembrance (Malachi 3:16)

Your name, faith, obedience, motives, and stewardship are recorded. Salvation is not assumed; it is recorded. Service is not forgotten; it is documented.

Lesson: Heaven is not casual; it is organized and exact.

    3. Religious Activity Is Not the Same as Heavenly Approval

Jesus warned that many will present impressive earthly spiritual credentials:

    “We prophesied…”

    “We cast out demons…”

    “We did many wonders…”

Yet He will reply, “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:21–23).

Lesson: Ministry activity without relationship does not register as heavenly documentation.

    4. Citizenship Determines Access

Paul declares, “Our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20).
Just as a visa or passport determines border access, citizenship in Christ determines entry into God’s kingdom.

    Earthly citizenship gives national access.

    Heavenly citizenship gives eternal access.

Lesson: You can be legally recognized by a nation and still be unknown in heaven.

    5. How to Secure Heavenly Documents

Heavenly documentation is not earned by works alone but is authenticated by faith that produces obedience.

    a. Salvation through Christ

John 14:6 – Jesus is the only way.

Acts 4:12 – No other name by which we must be saved.

    b. A Life of Obedience and Holiness

Hebrews 12:14 – Without holiness no one will see the Lord.

    c. Faithful Stewardship and Service

Matthew 25:21 – “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

    d. Endurance to the End

Revelation 3:5 – Names can be blotted out or retained.

Lesson: Heavenly documents are secured by salvation, sustained by obedience, and confirmed by perseverance.

    6. The Final Audit

Every life will face a final audit before God.

    Earthly files will be closed.

    Heavenly books will be opened.

No lawyer, title, or certificate will speak for you—only what is written in heaven.

2 Corinthians 5:10 reminds us that everyone will appear before Christ’s judgment seat.

    Conclusion

Be careful. Do not invest your entire life in documents that end at the grave while neglecting records that speak in eternity.

Ensure that while your name appears in earthly registries, it is also written in the Book of Life.

    Final Question:
If heaven were to open its records today, would your name be found?

    Prayer
“Lord, search my life. Remove every false confidence. Write my name in the Book of Life, align my works with Your will, and help me live with eternity in view, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    “The Danger of Spiritual Laziness”

Spiritual laziness slowly weakens your hunger for God, dulls your discernment, and opens doors to compromise. A believer who stops feeding their spirit begins to drift, often without realizing it.
God calls us to be watchful, fervent, and growing, not passive.
Don’t sleep on your walk with God. Stay awake, stay rooted.

  • Living on Earth with a Heavenly Minded

Many believers confess Christ with their lips but live with their hearts rooted deeply in this world.

Heaven is their destination, yet earth is their obsession. God never intended us to be earthly-minded Christians with a heavenly confession.

He calls us to live physically on earth but spiritually anchored in heaven.

    Colossians 3:1–2, Philippians 3:20, Matthew 6:19–21, Romans 12:2

To be heavenly-minded does not mean to be useless on earth; rather, it means to live with eternal perspective, divine priorities, and kingdom values while fulfilling our earthly responsibilities.

The challenge of our generation is this: Can we walk the streets of earth while our hearts remain fixed on heaven?

    1. SET YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
    — Colossians 3:1–2

Heavenly-minded believers consciously redirect their desires from temporary pleasures to eternal realities.

Your mind determines your direction. What occupies your thoughts eventually controls your life.

When your heart is fixed on heaven:

    * Sin loses its attraction

    * Worldly pride loses its power

    * Eternal purpose gains priority

    2. UNDERSTAND YOUR TRUE CITIZENSHIP

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
    — Philippians 3:20

You may live in a physical country, but your spiritual passport is from heaven.

You are an ambassador of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). Ambassadors represent their homeland even while living in foreign territory.

    A heavenly-minded believer:

    * Speaks the language of holiness

    * Walks in kingdom character

    * Reflects the culture of heaven

    3. DO NOT STORE TREASURES ONLY ON EARTH

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth... But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…”
    — Matthew 6:19–20

Earthly wealth fades. Fame expires. Material gain perishes. But heavenly treasures are eternal.

Where your treasure is, your heart follows.

Living with a heavenly mindset means:

    * Investing in souls

    * Prioritizing eternal impact

    * Choosing obedience over popularity

    4. RENEWING THE MIND DAILY

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
    — Romans 12:2

The world pressures believers to conform, but God calls us to transform. You cannot think like the world and live for heaven.

    A renewed mind:

    * Discerns God’s will

    * Rejects sinful patterns

    * Embraces Christ-like values

    5. WALKING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
    — Psalm 90:12

Heavenly-minded living means understanding that life is brief and eternity is real. Every decision, choice, and action should echo into eternity.

    Ask yourself:

    Will this glorify God?

    Will this matter in eternity?

Will this draw me closer to Christ?

    CONCLUSION

To live on earth with a heavenly mind is to walk daily with eternity in perspective. It is to obey God even when the world disagrees. It is to choose purpose over pleasure, holiness over hype, and eternity over entertainment.

We are not of this world. We are passing through. Heaven is our home, Christ is our Lord, and eternity is our destination.

“Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”
    — Hebrews 13:14

    ALTAR CALL / CHALLENGE

Beloved, is your heart tied to the earth or fixed on heaven?

Today, choose to lift your eyes above the distractions of this life and reset your focus on eternity.

    PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from earthly distractions.

Realign my heart with heaven’s purpose.

Help me to live every day with eternity in view.

Let my thoughts, actions, and desires glorify You.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Living with a heavenly mindset means: * Investing in souls * Prioritizing eternal impact * Choosing obedience over popularity 4. RENEWING THE MIND DAILY “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2 The world pressures believers to conform, but God calls us to transform. You cannot think like the world and live for heaven. A renewed mind: * Discerns God’s will * Rejects sinful patterns * Embraces Christ-like values 5. WALKING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 Heavenly-minded living means understanding that life is brief and eternity is real. Every decision, choice, and action should echo into eternity. Ask yourself: Will this glorify God? Will this matter in eternity? Will this draw me closer to Christ? CONCLUSION To live on earth with a heavenly mind is to walk daily with eternity in perspective. It is to obey God even when the world disagrees. It is to choose purpose over pleasure, holiness over hype, and eternity over entertainment. We are not of this world. We are passing through. Heaven is our home, Christ is our Lord, and eternity is our destination. “Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” — Hebrews 13:14 ALTAR CALL / CHALLENGE Beloved, is your heart tied to the earth or fixed on heaven? Today, choose to lift your eyes above the distractions of this life and reset your focus on eternity. PRAYER Lord, deliver me from earthly distractions. Realign my heart with heaven’s purpose. Help me to live every day with eternity in view. Let my thoughts, actions, and desires glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. • The Believer’s Guide – 22/NOV/2025
    “What Are My Kingdom Goals?”

Are my goals driven by the world or inspired by eternity? As a believer, is my ambition aligned with God’s will? Am I chasing applause or aiming to hear “Well done, faithful servant”?

When I prioritize His Kingdom, everything else falls into place.
    [Ref: Matthew 6:33, 2 Timothy 4:7-8, Colossians 3:2]

  • This Is the Gen Z Era — They’re Not Waiting for Permission, They’re Changing the Game!

    They called Gen Z rebellious.
They said we’re distracted, lost, and unteachable.

    But I see something different.
I see a generation on fire for Jesus!
A generation that can’t be stopped — unstoppable in passion, in purpose, and in pursuit of God.

They don’t just want to hear about Jesus — they want to see Him move.
They crave real encounters, real power, and real transformation.
    Just like Apostle Paul said:

    > “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4)

They carry the fire of revival — from the east, west, north, and south!
A generation rising with boldness, purity, and purpose.
Not the rebellious generation, but the revival generation.

I see them marching for Jesus.
I see them healing the broken.
    I see them changing culture.

Gen Z is not the problem — Gen Z is God’s answer!

Viva Gen Z in Christ — for Jesus Christ!
