As many people believed in Jesus Christ, they turned away from idol worship. This change threatened those whose livelihood depended on making idols, leading to strong opposition against Paul and the message he preached. Paul faithfully declared that man-made idols could never replace the living God. His message called people to abandon false objects of worship and place their faith in the Creator rather than created things. The gospel challenged not only beliefs but also the priorities and lifestyles of those who heard it. For believers today, idols may not always be carved images, but anything that takes God's rightful place in our hearts can become an idol. Success, possessions, relationships, or personal ambitions can easily compete for our devotion. God alone deserves our highest worship, trust, and obedience. Reflection Questions 1. Through the prophet Isaiah, God announces that he will use Cyrus, a pagan king, to accomplish his purposes. By this act, he reveals to all nations that he is the only sovereign God who directs history. For in reality, God is not a god among others: he is the only God, Lord, Creator, and Master of all things. His authority knows no boundaries or rivals. When everything seems uncertain, this truth remains unshakeable: God always reigns. Those who acknowledge his sovereignty find a peace that circumstances cannot take away. Because of this, place all your trust in God alone. Refuse to make your resources, your abilities, or other people your ultimate security. The God who governs the universe is also the one who faithfully guides your life. Hallelujah 🙌🏼 O Lord, you are the only true God.
