• *TODAY'S PROPHETIC DECLARATION - TUESDAY, 25TH AUGUST, 2026.*

    *ONLY BELIEVE!*

    Scripture:
    “And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.” — Mark 5:37 (KJV)

    *Reflection – Stay Close to Jesus When Faith Is Tested*

    Mark 5:37 comes in the middle of the story of Jairus, whose daughter was critically ill. Jairus had come to Jesus believing that Jesus could help. But as they journeyed, the situation became even worse.

    Jesus strategically chose only Peter, James, and John among the twelve disciples to accompany Him as He continued toward Jairus' house. You may what to ask why the three among the twelve? This Show us that even among the elected or selected there are favourites and disciples who are more closer to Jesus than the others. Are you among the inner circle of Jesus?

    Immediately after this, Jesus would challenge the atmosphere of fear and unbelief with the powerful command:

    “Be not afraid, only believe.” — Mark 5:36

    The lesson is powerful: when circumstances become more difficult, stay close to Jesus.

    There will be moments when circumstances appear to contradict what you have prayed for. There may be voices telling you that your situation is finished, your opportunity is gone, or your dream is impossible.

    But Jesus is still present.

    Today, choose carefully whose voice you listen to. Stay close to Christ. Let faith speak louder than fear, and let God's promises speak louder than discouraging reports.

    *Prophetic Declaration:*
    Today, I declare that I will remain close to Jesus Christ regardless of what happens around me. I shall not allow fear, bad reports, disappointment, or the opinions of people to separate me from my faith in God.

    I declare that when circumstances become difficult, my faith shall become stronger. When the situation appears impossible, I will remember that nothing is impossible with God.

    I reject every voice of hopelessness, fear, confusion, and discouragement that tells me to give up. I choose to listen to the voice of Jesus, who calls me to trust Him.

    Today, I declare faith over fear in every area of my life.

    I proclaim faith over my family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, finances, plans, and destiny. May God's power and wisdom guide me through every difficult circumstance.

    I declare that no negative report shall become the final report over my life. I will not make permanent conclusions based on temporary circumstances.

    Today, I receive grace to wait for God's intervention even when I cannot see how He will make a way. I shall not run ahead of God because of fear, and I shall not abandon my faith because of delay.

    I declare that every situation that appears beyond human possibility is placed in the hands of the God who has ultimate authority over life and every circumstance.

    I proclaim that the Lord shall give me discernment concerning the voices I allow into my heart. May He surround me with people who strengthen my faith, encourage my walk with Christ, and speak wisdom into my life.

    I declare that my faith shall not be based merely on what I see. I shall walk by faith and trust God's character even when I do not understand His process.

    Today, I refuse to surrender my hope. I refuse to call dead what God has not called dead. I refuse to give up on what God has instructed me to continue pursuing.

    I will not be afraid.
    I will believe.
    I will remain close to Jesus.
    I will trust God's timing.
    I will wait for His word to prevail.

    Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

    *Action Steps for today:*
    Begin with faith: Thank God before you present your requests, remembering that He is greater than every challenge.

    Read Mark 5:21–43: Pay particular attention to Jesus' words to Jairus in verse 36: “Be not afraid, only believe.”

    Declare: “I will not be afraid. I will believe. Jesus has the final word over my situation.”

    Guard your atmosphere: Be intentional about the voices, conversations, and content you allow to influence your faith.

    Surrender one impossible situation: Give it completely to Jesus and refuse to carry it through anxiety.

    Take one step of faith: Continue doing what God has placed in your hands, even if the final result is not yet visible.

    End with worship: Thank God for His presence and trust Him with the outcome.

    *Prayer:*
    Heavenly Father,
    Thank You because You are greater than every situation I may face.

    Lord Jesus, help me to remain close to You when my faith is tested. When I hear discouraging reports, remind me of Your promises. When fear rises, remind me of Your power.

    Deliver me from the fear of bad news, delay, disappointment, and uncertainty. Give me grace to believe You even when circumstances appear impossible.

    I surrender my family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, plans, and future into Your hands.

    Lord, give me wisdom to know which voices to listen to and which ones to reject. Surround me with people who strengthen my faith and help me remain focused on You.

    Where I am tempted to give up, give me strength to continue. Where I am tempted to fear, give me courage to believe.

    Help me not to judge Your ability by my circumstances. Teach me to trust Your wisdom, Your power, and Your timing.

    I choose faith over fear. I choose hope over despair. I choose to remain close to Jesus.

    Let Your perfect will be accomplished in my life.

    In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

    *Blessing for today:*
    May the Lord strengthen your faith today and silence every voice of fear and discouragement.

    May you remain close to Jesus through every season. When circumstances become difficult, may His presence give you courage; when the road becomes uncertain, may His Word give you direction.

    May the Lord protect your family, establish your ministry, bless your work and business, guide your studies, and order every step of your destiny according to His perfect will.

    May no temporary situation make you abandon your confidence in God.

    Fear not.
    Only believe.
    Stay close to Jesus.
    Trust His timing.
    Expect His faithfulness.

    “BE NOT AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE.” — MARK 5:36

    May your faith remain strong, your heart remain peaceful, and your eyes remain fixed on Jesus today.

    Good morning beloved and do have a blessed and victorious day Shalom!

  • Good morning brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY AUGUST 24, 2O26.
    "WELCOME THIS CHANGE"

    ‘…have your sandals on and your walking stick in your hand...’ Exodus 12:11 NCV.

    THE BOY Scout motto is ‘Be prepared,’ and it’s a good one. In Exodus, God told Israel, ‘…eat…fully dressed as if you were going on a trip…have your sandals on and your walking stick in your hand.’ In other words, ‘Be ready when I tell you to move!’ Maybe there’s an area in your life where God is telling you it’s time to move, but fear is making you hold back. Don’t! Change is just evidence of growth. What worked yesterday can be tomorrow’s recipe for failure. You can’t become who you are destined to be, if you insist on staying as you are. John Patterson said, ‘Only fools and dead men don’t change…Fools won’t, and dead men can’t.’ Change isn’t the enemy. Once you start seeing yourself as a lifelong learner looking for ways to grow and improve, change becomes your friend. Learn from the people you meet, pursue new ideas, strategies, and ways to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Jim Penner says: ‘Our bodies change no matter how hard we exercise…Our homes change as our needs ebb and flow. Our places of employment change as the winds of economic forces blow and new opportunities come…friendships change as family needs and employment pull us away…While many changes become enjoyable new seasons…sometimes they’re painful. But no matter what season of change you’re experiencing…you can find comfort in Malachi 3:6, ‘I am God…I haven’t changed…’ (TM). His mercies endure forever…and it’s an awesome feeling knowing He loves and directs you just like He directed all His people who came before you.’

    *EXPLOITS THROUGH CONQUERING FAITH*

    *TEXT:* JOSHUA 11:10-23.

    10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
    11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
    12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
    13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
    14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
    15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
    16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
    17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
    18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
    19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
    20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
    21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
    22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
    23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

    *Timeless Truth:*_"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions"_ (Hebrews 11:32-33).

    *INTRODUCTION*

    William C. Martin (1878) penned down this song relevant to the topic of discussion.
    "In the warfare that is raging
    For the truth and for the right,
    When the conflict, fierce, is raging
    With the powers of the night,
    God needs people brave and true:
    May He then depend on you?
    Refrain:
    May the Lord depend on you?
    Loyalty is but His due;
    Say, O spirit, brave and true,
    That He may depend on you".
    God's covenants to Israel were majorly earthly and therefore, their warfares to possess their promises were physical. For the New Testament, the covenant is mostly spiritual and heavenly and therefore the warfares of the New Testament saints are spiritual. *"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal..."* (2 Corinthians 10:4). Lessons on Old Testament physical warfares are meant to teach the New Testament saints some important features of spiritual warfare which is a major part of successful and victorious Christian living.
    Joshua and Israel faced formidable kings, fortified cities and numerous enemies, yet God gave them victory. Their exploits demonstrated that conquering faith rested on obedience to God's authority and instructions with perseverance until the battle was completely won. When faith is anchored in God, no enemy can ultimately withstand His purpose for His people.

    *1. Determined Destruction Accomplished*

    a. God had concluded from the time of Abraham that the Amorites would be obliterated when their iniquities reached the peak when God could no more tolerate them (Genesis 15:15,16; Exodus 34:11-13). The time now came to start possessing the land as promised, but they must fight for it, for it would not come on a platter of gold. All the promises of God have been paid for by the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. However, the adversary is always there to contest against those blessings and believers must be ready to contend and possess it as God has given us assurance of victory as legitimate owners of the blessings. Our Lord Himself said, *"the kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent taketh it by force"* (Matthew 11:12). The heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 were commended for their violence of faith, courage and determination as they fought spiritual warfares. The violence of believers is spiritual and had to do with violence and force of faith. Nobody will be able to possess his possessions here on earth and enter heaven eventually if he does not learn to be brave and violent in spiritual warfare against the flesh, fiends, faithlessness, fear and foolishness.
    b. Joshua did not leave unfinished what God had commanded him to accomplish. Hazor, the head of the northern kingdoms, was captured and destroyed and its king was put to death. The destruction was decisive because Joshua understood that partial obedience could jeopardize the victory God had promised. Conquering faith is determined faith—it does not retreat because the opposition is strong or the assignment is difficult. What God commands must be pursued with courage and perseverance. Joshua, with courageous faith, moved along the will and Word of God and destroyed those that God had condemned to destruction because they refused to repent.

    *Question*

    Are there areas of your life where God expects you to exercise determined faith and completely overcome persistent opposition?

    *2. Done According to the Divine Authority*

    a. The destruction of the Canaanites by Joshua in the text took about 7 years though it was recorded as if they all happened in rapidity. God had told them that they would conquer the land *"little by little"*. (Exodus 23:30, Deuteronomy 7:22). You don't expect those formidable enemies to be overcome without giving a strong fight and resistance. Spiritual wars, like the physical wars are at times protracted. In order to overcome the adversary, there is a need to maintain a persistent and untiring warfare disposition and attitude for Satan and his agents will not give up without a strong and persistent resistance. So, fight manfully onward and never give up but persist until you laugh last. God has destined and programmed you for total victory. The "little by little" approach also gave the Canaanites the opportunity to repent and seek for mercy like Rahab and her household and the Gibeonites did.
    Joshua acted according to the command of the LORD. Those who perished must have been adamant because it had been settled that Israel would destroy all of them just like Rahab confessed (Joshua 2:9-11). All those who perished perished because they chose to and not for lack of opportunity to repent. Rahab and her household, the Giebeonites and the Shechemites decided not to perish and they did not because they did the needful. Those people refused to repent, their hearts were hardened through rejection of mercy. This hardening of men’s hearts is when God gives man up to his sin after the person refused the mercy of God (Romans 1:24-28).
    b. How could Joshua have overcome? Israel was not trained in the art of warfare at the time. Second, Israel did not have horses and chariots to fight, whereas the Canaanites had in abundance. Yet, God told them that it was a battle of faith and therefore, they should not fear the better equipped and stronger adversaries. *"And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire"*. It was like the case of little David versus the giant Goliath. Spiritual battles, while doing the needful, do not look at the size and the arrogance of the adversaries. With faith in God, their horses and chariots will be defeated. *"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God"* (Psalm 20:7). Can you imagine a poorly trained and inexperienced army of Israel defeating better trained
    coalition of nations in their multitudes with their horses and chariots? Obeying God's Word and instruction is always a guarantee of victory regardless of the might and the arsenal of the adversaries. Joshua did not depend on personal wisdom or military strength; he carried out God's instructions. Verse 15 emphasizes that Joshua did everything the LORD commanded Moses, and Moses had commanded Joshua. True exploits are accomplished under divine authority. Faith becomes powerful when it is joined with obedience. The victory was not merely Joshua's achievement; it was God's purpose being fulfilled through a yielded servant. We too must learn to follow God's Word even when His instructions challenge our natural reasoning.

    *Question*

    Are your decisions and actions being governed by God's Word and divine authority?

    *3. The Defeat of the Dreaded Adversaries*

    The Anakims were the most dreaded adversaries of Israel while they were in the wilderness. In fact, the spies (10 of them) sent said they were like grasshoppers compared to the Anakims (Numbers 13:27-33). It was the fear of those people that made Israel to be punished in the wilderness with 40 years of wandering and deaths. God delayed this fight to be their last fight so that Israel would have, from experience, learnt the art of warfare. They did not know that God had His own strategy of training them to be fit for the warfare against those terrorizing adversaries. When God gives a promise, don't look at your weakness and be asking how possible. God has His own plan to make you fit enough to deal with the enemy before He Himself takes over. "The Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow" and victory is certain.
    b. The promise of Deuteronomy 9:1–3, which specifically predicts the defeat of the fearsome Anakites, is fulfilled(Joshua 11:21–23). Those who once appeared invincible were overcome by the power of God. Joshua's victory teaches us that yesterday's giants need not determine today's destiny. Through conquering faith, intimidating obstacles can become testimonies of God's faithfulness. Finally, the land had rest from war. When God's people trust Him, obey His commands and persevere in faith, victory and divine rest become possible.

    *Question*

    What “giant” or dreaded adversary are you allowing to intimidate you instead of confronting it through faith in God?

    *Prayer Points*

    1.Lord, give me conquering faith to overcome every persistent opposition standing against Your purpose for my life.
    2.Father, help me to walk in complete obedience to Your Word and submit every decision to Your divine authority .
    3.O Lord, bring down every giant and defeat every dreaded adversary confronting my progress, destiny and calling .
    4.Father, grant Your children lasting victory and divine rest after every battle and let their lives become testimonies of Your mighty exploits .

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle" (JOSHUA 11:19).*_
    *Mercy from God is that vital element that no one can earn, deserve or merit. It is an inalienable deed that underpins God's dealings with fallible humankind, saved or unsaved. When all else fails, God's mercies will never fail.*
    *The Canaanites and other nations in the Promised Land engaged in battle against Joshua and the Israelites without seeking a peace agreement, despite their unfavourable position. In this chapter, Joshua faced a coalition of Canaanite forces, defeating them before turning his attention to the northern region. The city of Hazor was captured and burned, with its spoils taken by the Israelites. Joshua then advanced towards the hills and southern territories, continuing the conflict until the entirety of the land was subdued and allocated to the tribes of Israel. The account raises challenging questions regarding the nature of a loving God permitting such violence, particularly the killing of women and children. This narrative has sparked criticism towards the Scripture, leading to inquiries about the justness of these holy wars and casting doubt on divine benevolence, consequently perplexing many readers.*
    *The text emphasises that the people in the land repeatedly heard about God's actions but chose to resist and did not seek mercy, with the Gibeonites being the only exception, although through deceit. Instead of pursuing peace, they relied on military might, having engaged in idol worship and iniquity for centuries, including horrific sacrifices. Ultimately, God's judgment deemed it necessary to cleanse the land of those viewed as rebels and enemies, as the people were prepared to oppose Him rather than embrace His ways.*
    *No one can fight against God and expect to win. It is an effort in futility when we roll out our battle gear instead of pleading and repenting. God delights in mercy. He's not interested in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn to Him in repentance and live. "As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live..."*
    *Dispute over paternity can be resolved through a DNA test and lay to rest such controversy. Likewise, holiness puts to silence every debate on who a child of God is. God is holy, and anyone who professes to be His child must possess this very nature of God - holiness. An unholy life has no resemblance to God and no usefulness to the world.*
    *"Be ye holy" is God's command. Heaven is a holy place. The God of heaven is a Holy Being. The angels are holy creatures. Everything in heaven is holiness. It is impossible to get to heaven if we die unholy. The Holy Bible clearly states that: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).*
    *Holiness is not optional; it is mandatory for all who desire to see God and live with Him in eternity. To be holy simply means to be purged from inward and outward sins. Consecration, strong thirst, and hunger for the experience in desperate prayer will allow God to accomplish it in your life.*
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. ⏤ Romans 12:1
    He who runs from God in the morning will scarcely find Him the rest of the day. ⏤ John Bunyan
    Almighty God, the Father of us all, in whom we live and move and have our being—we worship You and give thanks to Your great and holy name. Our hearts are full of memories of Sunday. May we be like those who have walked among fragrant flowers, carrying the scent on our very garments. May we be more joyful, more trusting, more holy, more loving, and more prayerful because of the holy influences that saturated our lives yesterday.
    You are the God of the evening and the morning. Every day reveals where You have walked in love. We thank You for this day that now shines upon us. We need Your presence with us through all its hours, for we don’t know what they hold for us:
    what duties,
    what problems that must be solved,
    what decisions that must be made,
    what responsibilities that must be met,
    what surprises of joy or sorrow,
    what temptations,
    what conflicts,
    what dangers.
    We don’t know—but You do, and we’re not afraid to leave it all in Your hands. Bless us with peace, wisdom, and strength for whatever lies ahead. Take our hands and guide us.
    We consecrate ourselves to You this day, O God, for life and service. We are Yours, and we present ourselves as a living sacrifice to You. We want to live only for You. Help us to renounce all claims on ourselves and truly be Yours. If we are called to any hard duty, task, or service—give us the grace to accept Your will cheerfully and to do what pleases You. Work deeply in us by Your Spirit, continuing the renewal of our nature, and building us up in holiness and righteousness, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
    Good morning brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. MD.i. 😀🌺🌹🎁🎀💝 MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY AUGUST 24, 2O26. "WELCOME THIS CHANGE" ‘…have your sandals on and your walking stick in your hand...’ Exodus 12:11 NCV. THE BOY Scout motto is ‘Be prepared,’ and it’s a good one. In Exodus, God told Israel, ‘…eat…fully dressed as if you were going on a trip…have your sandals on and your walking stick in your hand.’ In other words, ‘Be ready when I tell you to move!’ Maybe there’s an area in your life where God is telling you it’s time to move, but fear is making you hold back. Don’t! Change is just evidence of growth. What worked yesterday can be tomorrow’s recipe for failure. You can’t become who you are destined to be, if you insist on staying as you are. John Patterson said, ‘Only fools and dead men don’t change…Fools won’t, and dead men can’t.’ Change isn’t the enemy. Once you start seeing yourself as a lifelong learner looking for ways to grow and improve, change becomes your friend. Learn from the people you meet, pursue new ideas, strategies, and ways to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Jim Penner says: ‘Our bodies change no matter how hard we exercise…Our homes change as our needs ebb and flow. Our places of employment change as the winds of economic forces blow and new opportunities come…friendships change as family needs and employment pull us away…While many changes become enjoyable new seasons…sometimes they’re painful. But no matter what season of change you’re experiencing…you can find comfort in Malachi 3:6, ‘I am God…I haven’t changed…’ (TM). His mercies endure forever…and it’s an awesome feeling knowing He loves and directs you just like He directed all His people who came before you.’ Bible In A Year: Ezek 1-4, Matt 21:1-11, Ps 119:161-168, Pro 19:3-8. [23/08, 7:59 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* MONDAY, 24TH AUGUST, 2026. *EXPLOITS THROUGH CONQUERING FAITH* *TEXT:* JOSHUA 11:10-23. 10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. 12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded. 13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn. 14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe. 15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses. 16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same; 17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them. 18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. 20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses. 21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. 22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war. *Timeless Truth:*_"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions"_ (Hebrews 11:32-33). *INTRODUCTION* William C. Martin (1878) penned down this song relevant to the topic of discussion. "In the warfare that is raging For the truth and for the right, When the conflict, fierce, is raging With the powers of the night, God needs people brave and true: May He then depend on you? Refrain: May the Lord depend on you? Loyalty is but His due; Say, O spirit, brave and true, That He may depend on you". God's covenants to Israel were majorly earthly and therefore, their warfares to possess their promises were physical. For the New Testament, the covenant is mostly spiritual and heavenly and therefore the warfares of the New Testament saints are spiritual. *"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal..."* (2 Corinthians 10:4). Lessons on Old Testament physical warfares are meant to teach the New Testament saints some important features of spiritual warfare which is a major part of successful and victorious Christian living. Joshua and Israel faced formidable kings, fortified cities and numerous enemies, yet God gave them victory. Their exploits demonstrated that conquering faith rested on obedience to God's authority and instructions with perseverance until the battle was completely won. When faith is anchored in God, no enemy can ultimately withstand His purpose for His people. *1. Determined Destruction Accomplished* a. God had concluded from the time of Abraham that the Amorites would be obliterated when their iniquities reached the peak when God could no more tolerate them (Genesis 15:15,16; Exodus 34:11-13). The time now came to start possessing the land as promised, but they must fight for it, for it would not come on a platter of gold. All the promises of God have been paid for by the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. However, the adversary is always there to contest against those blessings and believers must be ready to contend and possess it as God has given us assurance of victory as legitimate owners of the blessings. Our Lord Himself said, *"the kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent taketh it by force"* (Matthew 11:12). The heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 were commended for their violence of faith, courage and determination as they fought spiritual warfares. The violence of believers is spiritual and had to do with violence and force of faith. Nobody will be able to possess his possessions here on earth and enter heaven eventually if he does not learn to be brave and violent in spiritual warfare against the flesh, fiends, faithlessness, fear and foolishness. b. Joshua did not leave unfinished what God had commanded him to accomplish. Hazor, the head of the northern kingdoms, was captured and destroyed and its king was put to death. The destruction was decisive because Joshua understood that partial obedience could jeopardize the victory God had promised. Conquering faith is determined faith—it does not retreat because the opposition is strong or the assignment is difficult. What God commands must be pursued with courage and perseverance. Joshua, with courageous faith, moved along the will and Word of God and destroyed those that God had condemned to destruction because they refused to repent. *Question* Are there areas of your life where God expects you to exercise determined faith and completely overcome persistent opposition? *2. Done According to the Divine Authority* a. The destruction of the Canaanites by Joshua in the text took about 7 years though it was recorded as if they all happened in rapidity. God had told them that they would conquer the land *"little by little"*. (Exodus 23:30, Deuteronomy 7:22). You don't expect those formidable enemies to be overcome without giving a strong fight and resistance. Spiritual wars, like the physical wars are at times protracted. In order to overcome the adversary, there is a need to maintain a persistent and untiring warfare disposition and attitude for Satan and his agents will not give up without a strong and persistent resistance. So, fight manfully onward and never give up but persist until you laugh last. God has destined and programmed you for total victory. The "little by little" approach also gave the Canaanites the opportunity to repent and seek for mercy like Rahab and her household and the Gibeonites did. Joshua acted according to the command of the LORD. Those who perished must have been adamant because it had been settled that Israel would destroy all of them just like Rahab confessed (Joshua 2:9-11). All those who perished perished because they chose to and not for lack of opportunity to repent. Rahab and her household, the Giebeonites and the Shechemites decided not to perish and they did not because they did the needful. Those people refused to repent, their hearts were hardened through rejection of mercy. This hardening of men’s hearts is when God gives man up to his sin after the person refused the mercy of God (Romans 1:24-28). b. How could Joshua have overcome? Israel was not trained in the art of warfare at the time. Second, Israel did not have horses and chariots to fight, whereas the Canaanites had in abundance. Yet, God told them that it was a battle of faith and therefore, they should not fear the better equipped and stronger adversaries. *"And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire"*. It was like the case of little David versus the giant Goliath. Spiritual battles, while doing the needful, do not look at the size and the arrogance of the adversaries. With faith in God, their horses and chariots will be defeated. *"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God"* (Psalm 20:7). Can you imagine a poorly trained and inexperienced army of Israel defeating better trained coalition of nations in their multitudes with their horses and chariots? Obeying God's Word and instruction is always a guarantee of victory regardless of the might and the arsenal of the adversaries. Joshua did not depend on personal wisdom or military strength; he carried out God's instructions. Verse 15 emphasizes that Joshua did everything the LORD commanded Moses, and Moses had commanded Joshua. True exploits are accomplished under divine authority. Faith becomes powerful when it is joined with obedience. The victory was not merely Joshua's achievement; it was God's purpose being fulfilled through a yielded servant. We too must learn to follow God's Word even when His instructions challenge our natural reasoning. *Question* Are your decisions and actions being governed by God's Word and divine authority? *3. The Defeat of the Dreaded Adversaries* The Anakims were the most dreaded adversaries of Israel while they were in the wilderness. In fact, the spies (10 of them) sent said they were like grasshoppers compared to the Anakims (Numbers 13:27-33). It was the fear of those people that made Israel to be punished in the wilderness with 40 years of wandering and deaths. God delayed this fight to be their last fight so that Israel would have, from experience, learnt the art of warfare. They did not know that God had His own strategy of training them to be fit for the warfare against those terrorizing adversaries. When God gives a promise, don't look at your weakness and be asking how possible. God has His own plan to make you fit enough to deal with the enemy before He Himself takes over. "The Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow" and victory is certain. b. The promise of Deuteronomy 9:1–3, which specifically predicts the defeat of the fearsome Anakites, is fulfilled(Joshua 11:21–23). Those who once appeared invincible were overcome by the power of God. Joshua's victory teaches us that yesterday's giants need not determine today's destiny. Through conquering faith, intimidating obstacles can become testimonies of God's faithfulness. Finally, the land had rest from war. When God's people trust Him, obey His commands and persevere in faith, victory and divine rest become possible. *Question* What “giant” or dreaded adversary are you allowing to intimidate you instead of confronting it through faith in God? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, give me conquering faith to overcome every persistent opposition standing against Your purpose for my life. 2.Father, help me to walk in complete obedience to Your Word and submit every decision to Your divine authority 🙏. 3.O Lord, bring down every giant and defeat every dreaded adversary confronting my progress, destiny and calling 🙏. 4.Father, grant Your children lasting victory and divine rest after every battle and let their lives become testimonies of Your mighty exploits 🙏. *HYMN:* May The Lord Depend On You. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* DANIEL 11-12. It is an inalienable deed that underpins God's dealings with fallible humankind, saved or unsaved. When all else fails, God's mercies will never fail.* *The Canaanites and other nations in the Promised Land engaged in battle against Joshua and the Israelites without seeking a peace agreement, despite their unfavourable position. In this chapter, Joshua faced a coalition of Canaanite forces, defeating them before turning his attention to the northern region. The city of Hazor was captured and burned, with its spoils taken by the Israelites. Joshua then advanced towards the hills and southern territories, continuing the conflict until the entirety of the land was subdued and allocated to the tribes of Israel. The account raises challenging questions regarding the nature of a loving God permitting such violence, particularly the killing of women and children. This narrative has sparked criticism towards the Scripture, leading to inquiries about the justness of these holy wars and casting doubt on divine benevolence, consequently perplexing many readers.* *The text emphasises that the people in the land repeatedly heard about God's actions but chose to resist and did not seek mercy, with the Gibeonites being the only exception, although through deceit. Instead of pursuing peace, they relied on military might, having engaged in idol worship and iniquity for centuries, including horrific sacrifices. Ultimately, God's judgment deemed it necessary to cleanse the land of those viewed as rebels and enemies, as the people were prepared to oppose Him rather than embrace His ways.* *No one can fight against God and expect to win. It is an effort in futility when we roll out our battle gear instead of pleading and repenting. God delights in mercy. He's not interested in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn to Him in repentance and live.   • Devotion: Jeremiah 23:29
    “My message is like a fire, and like a hammer that breaks rocks to pieces.” GNB
    When we look at the world today, we can see the destruction, the immorality, the evil that is consuming everyone and everything. People have lost their way. They have turned their backs on God and mock those who still follow the path of righteousness. We are, in fact being tormented by Lucifer himself. He roams earth and seeks whom he can destroy.
    Revelation 12:9 & 17: “The huge dragon was thrown out – that ancient serpent, called the Devil, or Satan, that deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to earth, and all his angels with him….. The dragon was furious with the woman and went off to fight against the rest of her descendants, all those who obey God’s commandments and are faithful to the truth revealed by Jesus.” GNB
    Thus the battle is on-going and, if not for the help of the holy Host and God Himself, believers would be far worse off than they are. We have been forewarned, though, and we have been given a means to fight this battle. You see, God’s Word can be wielded in battle against the evil that seeks to destroy us!
    Ephesians 6:12: “For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, the authorities, and the cosmic powers of this dark age.” GNB
    The Word of God is a double-edged sword which can cut through to your soul. It is powerful and holds truths which can lead you to salvation. You will be unable to ignore the message. The Word of God is also a true weapon, a sharp sword that can defend us against the darkness in the world. It is described as part of the armour of God in Ephesians.
    Ephesians 6:17: “And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you.” GNB
    The onslaught of the enemy is subtle. He will come dressed up and pretty, like an angel of light, but in the end he will try to bring you down (2 Corinthians 11:14). But you don’t have to fear this fight, for God Himself and His angels, the Holy Host, will fight with you. If you wield the Word as a sword, you will be victorious. Look again at the scripture for today. God says His Word is like fire and like a hammer; it will burn those against you and break them into pieces.
    Jeremiah 5:14: “…I will make my words like a fire in your mouth. The people will be like wood, and the fire will burn them up.” GNB
    And here, directly from scripture, from the Word of God, comes comfort and encouragement, for God will NOT ABANDON you in the midst of your strife. He WILL fight with you with a power that no-one can imagine.
    1 John 4:4: “But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.” GNB
He will come dressed up and pretty, like an angel of light, but in the end he will try to bring you down (2 Corinthians 11:14). But you don’t have to fear this fight, for God Himself and His angels, the Holy Host, will fight with you. If you wield the Word as a sword, you will be victorious. Look again at the scripture for today. God says His Word is like fire and like a hammer; it will burn those against you and break them into pieces. Jeremiah 5:14: “…I will make my words like a fire in your mouth. The people will be like wood, and the fire will burn them up.” GNB And here, directly from scripture, from the Word of God, comes comfort and encouragement, for God will NOT ABANDON you in the midst of your strife. He WILL fight with you with a power that no-one can imagine. 1 John 4:4: “But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.” GNB #Jeremiah29 #spiritualwarfare #armorofgod
  • You Were Born to Win
    Before you ever drew a breath — before you had a name, a face, or a single memory — you had already won.
    That's not a metaphor. It's biology, and it's the starting point for one of the most important truths.
    Your capacity for success didn't begin the day you set a goal or landed your first job. It began before you were even conceived.
    Consider what happened at your conception. The sperm carrying half of your genetic identity didn't simply arrive — it competed against millions of others in a race for a single prize: the egg that would complete you. Out of that vast field of competitors, one crossed the finish line. That one was you.
    Your winning formula and your capacity for success began before you were even conceived." Before you had any say in the matter, you were already proof that you were built to overcome odds, not just survive them.
    It's your foundation. If your very existence is the result of victory, then struggle and competition were never foreign to your design. They were the terms you arrived under.
    So why does this matter now, decades removed from that biological starting line?
    Because it reframes everything about your presence on earth.
    You are not here by accident, and you're not here merely to occupy space and time. You are here — "to overcome the challenges and crises on planet earth, and to come out victorious in your purpose and assignment in life."
    Every person carries an assignment. Every season carries a crisis to move through, not around.
    The question was never whether you'd face resistance — you were born out of it. The question is whether you'll recognize what you were built for and move toward it with the same determination that got you here in the first place.
    Perhaps the most freeing idea about success, one that has nothing to do with net worth, titles, or applause.
    "Success is doing everything you were designed to do in time, and moving on to the next life with the assurance that you have secured your afterlife with God the Creator."
    That's a radically different scoreboard than the one most of us are handed by culture.Success, isn't measured by comparison to someone else's life. It's measured by faithfulness to your own design — and by the eternal certainty that comes from a settled relationship with your Creator.
    This is where the book " To Live and Then Live" draws its title full circle.
    To live is to walk out your purpose here, in time, with intention.
    To then live is what follows — the assurance of life beyond this one, secured not by achievement but by relationship with God.
    Here this!
    You didn't arrive here by chance, and you weren't designed for a mediocre or accidental life. You were formed in victory, placed in time on purpose, and given an assignment only you can complete.
    Stop living as though survival is the goal. You were designed for more. You were designed to win.
  • DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 234
    DATE: 22ND AUGUST 2026
    TOPIC: RELY ON THE LORD_2
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:2 Chronicles 13:18 (NKJV)
    “Thus the children of Israel were subdued at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the LORD God of their fathers.”
    Devotional message:
    Yesterday, we saw the importance of relying completely upon God if we desire to live a victorious life. Today, we go deeper into what it means to depend upon Him: God desires our complete surrender, not divided dependence.
    One reason many believers do not experience the manifestation of God's power in their lives is that they call upon God while still holding tightly to other options. They present their situation to God, but in their hearts they have already established alternative sources of help.
    They say, “Lord, help me,” while simultaneously trusting in their own strength, connections, resources, strategies, or human solutions as their ultimate security.
    But God desires to be our first and ultimate source.
    This does not mean that we should abandon wisdom, planning, diligence, professional help, or the legitimate means God provides. Rather, it means that none of these things should take the place of God in our hearts. We may use resources, but our confidence must remain in the Lord who provides them.
    Consider Jehoshaphat. When Judah was surrounded by a great multitude, he confessed their helplessness before God:2 Chronicles 20:12 (NKJV)“We have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
    That is complete dependence.They did not merely acknowledge God as one of their options. They turned their eyes to Him.
    We see a similar confidence in Abijah when Judah faced Jeroboam's army. Although Judah was greatly outnumbered, Abijah declared that they had made the Lord their God and trusted Him.And God gave them victory.
    Child of God, there is a difference between asking God to help you and surrendering yourself completely to God.
    When God becomes your only source of confidence, you stop being controlled by fear because your security is no longer dependent upon circumstances.People can fail you.Money can run out.Connections can disappear.Systems can collapse.Human strength can become exhausted.But God cannot fail.
    The Psalmist declares:Psalm 20:7 (NKJV)
    “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
    Your “chariots and horses” may be your education, business, salary, influence, relationships, experience, or possessions. These things have their place, but none of them should occupy the throne that belongs to God.
    James warns that a person who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind and says that such a person is “a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:6–8).
    A divided heart produces an unstable life.Therefore, child of God, examine your heart today:Is God truly your source, or merely one of your options?
    Have you surrendered that situation completely to Him, or are you still holding onto your backup plan because you do not fully trust Him?
    Surrender your life, plans, future, family, ministry, business, finances, and every concern into His hands.
    PRAYER
    Heavenly Father,I choose to rely upon You completely, knowing that You will never fail.In Jesus' name, Amen.
  • *TODAY'S PROPHETIC DECLARATION - FRIDAY, 21ST AUGUST, 2026.*
    *PEACE, BE STILL!*
    Scripture:
    “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” — Mark 4:39 (KJV).
    *Reflection – Jesus Is Lord Over Every Storm*
    The disciples were in a boat when a great storm arose. Although Jesus was with them, they became afraid and wondered if they would survive. Jesus arose, rebuked the wind, and commanded the sea: “Peace, be still.”
    The storm obeyed Him.
    This reminds us that the presence of a storm does not mean the absence of God. Sometimes we may find ourselves in situations that seem beyond our control, but Jesus remains with us in the boat.
    There may be storms in our family, ministry, work, business, studies, finances, relationships, or future. Yet the same Christ who calmed the sea is still Lord over every circumstance.
    The greatest miracle is not only that Jesus can change the storm around us; He can also give us peace within us while we wait for the storm to pass.
    Today, refuse to allow fear to have the final word. Speak faith over your situation and trust the One who has authority over every storm.
    *Prophetic Declaration:*
    Today, I declare that Jesus Christ is Lord over every storm in my life. No situation is greater than His authority, and no problem is beyond His ability to handle.
    I declare “Peace, be still!” over every storm troubling my heart, family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, and destiny.
    Every storm of fear, anxiety, confusion, disappointment, delay, opposition, and uncertainty shall come under the authority of Jesus Christ.
    I declare that every troubling wind blowing against my peace shall cease according to God's perfect will. Every raging situation shall receive divine intervention, and every troubled circumstance shall give way to God's peace.
    Today, I receive supernatural peace in my heart. I will not be controlled by fear because Jesus is with me. I will not be overwhelmed by what I see because I know that God is greater than my circumstances.
    I declare that the Lord shall calm every situation that is beyond my human ability to control. Where I cannot change circumstances, He shall give me grace to trust Him and wisdom to respond correctly.
    I proclaim peace over my family and household. May every conflict, misunderstanding, tension, and anxiety give way to reconciliation, understanding, love, and divine peace.
    I proclaim peace over my ministry, work, business, and studies. May confusion become clarity, difficulty become opportunity, and pressure become a testimony of God's faithfulness.
    I declare that I shall not abandon my faith because of temporary storms. I will continue to pray, believe, work, and trust God until the calm comes.
    Today, I receive courage to remain in the boat with Jesus. I will not jump into dangerous waters because of fear. I will remain steadfast and trust the One who is with me.
    I declare that after every storm, there shall be a testimony. What was designed to frighten me shall become an opportunity for me to experience God's power more deeply.
    Jesus is in my boat.
    Jesus is greater than my storm.
    Jesus has authority over my circumstances.
    Jesus is my peace.
    Therefore, I will not fear.
    Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
    *Action Steps for today:*
    Begin with worship: Thank Jesus because He is Lord over every situation you may face today.
    Read Mark 4:35–41: Meditate on how Jesus responded to the storm and the fear of His disciples.
    Declare: “Jesus is with me in the boat. Therefore, I will not fear. Peace, be still!”
    Identify your storm: Write down one situation that is troubling you and surrender it completely to Jesus in prayer.
    Choose faith over fear: Whenever anxiety rises today, deliberately replace fearful thoughts with God's promises.
    Speak peace: Be careful not to add fuel to conflict through angry or negative words. Let your words promote peace.
    End the day with thanksgiving: Thank God for His presence with you, whether the storm has already ceased or you are still waiting for the calm.
    *Prayer:*
    Lord Jesus,
    Thank You because You are with me in every storm of life. Thank You because no situation is greater than Your authority.
    Today, I bring every storm in my life before You. Speak Your word of peace over my heart, my family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, and future.
    Where there is confusion, speak peace.
    Where there is fear, speak peace.
    Where there is conflict, speak peace.
    Where there is uncertainty, speak peace.
    Where there is discouragement, speak peace.
    Lord, calm every storm that is according to Your will to be calmed, and give me strength to remain faithful through every storm You permit me to face.
    Deliver me from anxiety and fear. Teach me to trust You even when I cannot understand what is happening around me.
    Help me remember that Your silence does not mean Your absence. You are with me, and You remain Lord over the storm.
    Give me faith like the disciples needed and help me grow into deeper confidence in Your power.
    Jesus, speak into every storm of my life today: “Peace, be still!”
    Let Your peace fill my heart and let my life become a testimony of Your faithfulness.
    In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
    *Blessing for today:*
    May the Lord Jesus arise on your behalf and speak peace into every storm surrounding your life.
    May every troubling situation receive divine intervention. May peace reign in your heart, your family, your ministry, your work, your business, your studies, and your relationships.
    May God give you grace to remain calm when circumstances are difficult, wisdom to know what to do, and faith to trust Him when you cannot see the way forward.
    May every storm become a testimony, every battle produce greater faith, and every difficult season reveal the mighty power of God.
    Jesus is greater than your storm.
    His peace shall guard your heart.
    His authority shall prevail.
    Your testimony shall emerge.
    “PEACE, BE STILL.” — MARK 4:39
    May the peace of Christ rule in your heart and household today.
    Good morning beloved and do have a blessed, peaceful, and victorious day
    Shalom!
  • The Bible’s Big Story
    The Bible is one unified book telling the story of God’s glory through creation, humanity’s rebellion, God’s covenant promises, and their complete fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Everything moves toward Christ’s preeminence. The Old Testament prepares the way; the New Testament reveals Him as the fulfillment. Together they form 66 inspired books—39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New.
    The Old Testament (39 Books): God’s Promises and Preparation
    The Old Testament shows God creating the world, choosing a people, giving them His law, and promising a coming King who would fix what sin broke. It repeatedly points forward to the Messiah.
    Law (Pentateuch – 5 books): Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
    These lay the foundation. Genesis shows creation, the fall, and God’s first promises. Exodus–Deuteronomy record God’s rescue of Israel from Egypt, the giving of the Torah at Sinai, and the covenant instructions for a holy people.
    Historical Books (12 books): Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1–2 Samuel, 1–2 Kings, 1–2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther.
    They trace Israel’s life in the Promised Land, their cycles of obedience and rebellion, the rise and fall of the monarchy, exile in Babylon, and return. They demonstrate that human kings fail, but God remains faithful to His promises.
    Wisdom and Poetry (5 books): Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon.
    These teach how to live wisely under God’s rule. They explore suffering, worship, daily righteousness, the emptiness of life without God, and the beauty of covenant love.
    Prophets (17 books):
    Major Prophets (5): Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel.
    Minor Prophets (12): Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk,
    Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.
    The prophets confront idolatry, call for repentance, warn of judgment, and repeatedly promise a coming Deliverer, a new covenant, and a kingdom that will never end.
    The entire Old Testament builds expectation: a seed of the woman, a descendant of Abraham, a prophet like Moses, a son of David, a suffering servant, and a King who will reign forever.
    The New Testament (27 Books): Christ’s Arrival and the New Creation
    The New Testament announces that Jesus is the promised King. He is the preeminent One in whom all God’s promises find their “Yes” (2 Corinthians 1:20). It shows His life, death, resurrection, the birth of the church, and the final renewal of all things.
    Gospels (4 books): Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.
    These present Jesus from four angles: as King (Matthew), servant (Mark), perfect man (Luke), and eternal God (John). They record His teaching, miracles, crucifixion for sins, and resurrection.
    History (1 book): Acts.
    Luke’s second volume shows the Holy Spirit empowering the early church to take the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. It records the rapid spread of the message that Jesus is Lord.
    Letters (21 books):
    Paul’s Letters (13): Romans, 1–2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1–2 Thessalonians, 1–2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon.
    These explain the gospel, the meaning of Christ’s work, how the church should live, and how believers stand secure in Him.
    General Letters (8): Hebrews, James, 1–2 Peter, 1–3 John, Jude.
    These encourage perseverance, warn against false teaching, and call for holy living.
    Prophecy (1 book): Revelation.
    This apocalyptic letter reveals Christ as the victorious Lamb and coming King. It comforts suffering believers and shows the final defeat of evil and the making of a new heaven and new earth.
    How the Two Testaments Fit Together
    The Old Testament is not obsolete. Jesus said He came to fulfill it, not abolish it (Matthew 5:17). The New Testament constantly quotes and explains the Old, showing that Christ is the true temple, the better Moses, the perfect high priest, the faithful Israel, and the eternal King.
    Everything in the Bible centers on the supremacy and preeminence of Christ that we have been studying in Colossians 1. He is the goal of the Old Testament promises and the living reality of the New Testament gospel. The whole book calls you to trust Him, repent of sin, and live under His rule until He returns.
    If you want to go deeper into any section—especially how Colossians fits into the larger biblical theology of Christ’s preeminence—let me know which part to unpack next.
    The Bible’s Big Story The Bible is one unified book telling the story of God’s glory through creation, humanity’s rebellion, God’s covenant promises, and their complete fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Everything moves toward Christ’s preeminence. The Old Testament prepares the way; the New Testament reveals Him as the fulfillment. Together they form 66 inspired books—39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New. The Old Testament (39 Books): God’s Promises and Preparation The Old Testament shows God creating the world, choosing a people, giving them His law, and promising a coming King who would fix what sin broke. It repeatedly points forward to the Messiah. Law (Pentateuch – 5 books): Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. These lay the foundation. Genesis shows creation, the fall, and God’s first promises. Exodus–Deuteronomy record God’s rescue of Israel from Egypt, the giving of the Torah at Sinai, and the covenant instructions for a holy people. Historical Books (12 books): Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1–2 Samuel, 1–2 Kings, 1–2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther. They trace Israel’s life in the Promised Land, their cycles of obedience and rebellion, the rise and fall of the monarchy, exile in Babylon, and return. They demonstrate that human kings fail, but God remains faithful to His promises. Wisdom and Poetry (5 books): Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon. These teach how to live wisely under God’s rule. They explore suffering, worship, daily righteousness, the emptiness of life without God, and the beauty of covenant love. Prophets (17 books): Major Prophets (5): Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel. Minor Prophets (12): Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi. The prophets confront idolatry, call for repentance, warn of judgment, and repeatedly promise a coming Deliverer, a new covenant, and a kingdom that will never end. The entire Old Testament builds expectation: a seed of the woman, a descendant of Abraham, a prophet like Moses, a son of David, a suffering servant, and a King who will reign forever. The New Testament (27 Books): Christ’s Arrival and the New Creation The New Testament announces that Jesus is the promised King. He is the preeminent One in whom all God’s promises find their “Yes” (2 Corinthians 1:20). It shows His life, death, resurrection, the birth of the church, and the final renewal of all things. Gospels (4 books): Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. These present Jesus from four angles: as King (Matthew), servant (Mark), perfect man (Luke), and eternal God (John). They record His teaching, miracles, crucifixion for sins, and resurrection. History (1 book): Acts. Luke’s second volume shows the Holy Spirit empowering the early church to take the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. It records the rapid spread of the message that Jesus is Lord. Letters (21 books): Paul’s Letters (13): Romans, 1–2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1–2 Thessalonians, 1–2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon. These explain the gospel, the meaning of Christ’s work, how the church should live, and how believers stand secure in Him. General Letters (8): Hebrews, James, 1–2 Peter, 1–3 John, Jude. These encourage perseverance, warn against false teaching, and call for holy living. Prophecy (1 book): Revelation. This apocalyptic letter reveals Christ as the victorious Lamb and coming King. It comforts suffering believers and shows the final defeat of evil and the making of a new heaven and new earth. How the Two Testaments Fit Together The Old Testament is not obsolete. Jesus said He came to fulfill it, not abolish it (Matthew 5:17). The New Testament constantly quotes and explains the Old, showing that Christ is the true temple, the better Moses, the perfect high priest, the faithful Israel, and the eternal King. Everything in the Bible centers on the supremacy and preeminence of Christ that we have been studying in Colossians 1. He is the goal of the Old Testament promises and the living reality of the New Testament gospel. The whole book calls you to trust Him, repent of sin, and live under His rule until He returns. If you want to go deeper into any section—especially how Colossians fits into the larger biblical theology of Christ’s preeminence—let me know which part to unpack next.
    THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS — VICTORY WHERE ADAM FAILED
    Matthew 4:1–11 | Mark 1:12–13 | Luke 4:1–13
    The temptation of Jesus was not merely a story about three conversations in the wilderness. It was a powerful revelation of how Satan attacks, how Christ responds, and how victory over temptation is possible.
    After Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness, where He fasted for forty days and nights. Then Satan came to tempt Him.
    «“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.” — Matthew 4:1»
    Notice something important: Jesus was not tempted because He had sinned. He was tempted because He was righteous.
    THE FIRST TEMPTATION — “COMMAND THAT THESE STONES BE MADE BREAD”
    Jesus was hungry. Satan attacked Him at His weakest physical moment.
    «“If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” — Matthew 4:3»
    Satan was essentially saying, “Use your power to satisfy yourself. Put your physical desire before obedience to God.”
    But Jesus answered:
    «“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” — Matthew 4:4»
    The lesson is simple:
    Your greatest need is not always the thing your flesh is demanding.
    Food is important, but obedience to God is more important.
    Jesus did not allow hunger to become an excuse for disobedience.
    THE SECOND TEMPTATION — “CAST THYSELF DOWN”
    Satan then took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple and quoted Scripture.
    «“If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down.” — Matthew 4:6»
    Notice carefully: Satan quoted Scripture!
    This teaches us something extremely important:
    Not everyone who quotes the Bible is teaching the truth.
    The devil quoted Psalm 91, but he twisted its meaning to encourage Jesus to test God.
    Jesus answered:
    «“Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” — Matthew 4:7»
    The lesson:
    Knowing Scripture is not enough. We must understand Scripture correctly and submit to its true meaning.
    The devil can use Bible words while promoting a message that contradicts God's will.
    THE THIRD TEMPTATION — WORSHIP ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE KINGDOMS
    Satan showed Jesus the kingdoms of the world and offered them to Him.
    «“All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.” — Matthew 4:9»
    What was Satan asking for?
    Worship.
    Jesus answered with absolute firmness:
    «“Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” — Matthew 4:10»
    Jesus would receive the kingdom—but not by compromising His loyalty to God.
    The lesson:
    Never exchange obedience to God for temporary success, popularity, money, power, pleasure, or worldly recognition.
    There are things Satan may offer that look attractive, but anything that requires disobedience to God is too expensive.
    JESUS WON WITH “IT IS WRITTEN”
    Look at Christ's weapon throughout the temptation:
    “It is written.”
    He did not answer Satan with human philosophy.
    He did not argue from emotion.
    He did not negotiate.
    He stood upon the Word of God.
    This is why Scripture says:
    «“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” — Psalm 119:11»
    If the Word of God is not in your heart, what will you stand upon when temptation comes?
    JESUS SUCCEEDED WHERE ADAM FAILED
    There is a beautiful contrast here.
    Adam was tempted in a perfect garden, surrounded by abundance—and he fell.
    Jesus was tempted in a barren wilderness, weakened by forty days of fasting—and He remained faithful.
    Adam listened to the serpent.
    Jesus answered the serpent with God's Word.
    Adam disobeyed God.
    Jesus obeyed God.
    Where Adam failed, Christ stood victorious.
    And Hebrews gives us this encouragement:
    «“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” — Hebrews 4:15»
    Jesus understands temptation—not because He surrendered to it, but because He faced it and overcame it without sin.
    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US?
    Temptation itself is not sin.
    Giving in to temptation is sin.
    When temptation comes, remember:
    When your flesh says, “Satisfy yourself,” remember: “Man shall not live by bread alone.”
    When Satan twists Scripture, remember: “It is written.”
    When the world offers you success in exchange for compromise, remember: “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God.”
    And when you feel weak, remember:
    «“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13»
    The Christian life is not about pretending temptation does not exist.
    It is about learning to stand when temptation comes.
    Jesus did not overcome temptation by compromising with Satan.
    He overcame by trusting His Father, standing upon Scripture, and refusing to disobey.
    THE FINAL LESSON
    Satan can tempt you, but he cannot force you to sin.
    The choice remains before you.
    When temptation comes, don't negotiate with it.
    Don't entertain it.
    Don't twist Scripture to justify it.
    Stand on the Word. Trust God. Choose obedience.
    Because the same Christ who overcame in the wilderness is able to strengthen those who follow Him today.
    «“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7»
    Jesus overcame.
    Jesus is our example.
    Jesus is our strength.
    And through Him, victory is possible.
  • Devotion: Luke 10:19
    Luke 10:19: “Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you.”
    Thoughts:
    Accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and thus inviting the Holy Spirit into your life, you also gain power through God; power to face even the most daunting enemies and challenges.
    If you live your life in honor of God, if you understand that His presence in your life is a constant, you never need to be afraid again.
    Fear makes us weak, it makes us doubt that God can intervene in time to save us. If we stand firm in the knowledge that we have power through our belief in the Lord, if we face the future with courageous hearts, we can (and will) overcome any obstacle in our way.
    Fear gives the devil a foothold, he thrives on us being afraid and uses it against us. When we take our stand against evil, against the world, knowing that we are children of the Almighty; children with God-given power, even the devil and his minions will fall. Luke 10:17: “....Even the demons obeyed us when we gave them a command in your name."
    A word of warning, though, remember that with this power comes a warning:
    Luke 10:17: “But don’t be glad because the evil spirits obey you; rather be glad because your names are written in heaven.”
    Therefore you should accept our God-given power and use it to quench the human fear still lurking in our lives. In our commitment to God we can use this power to overcome even the darkest of enemies and do so to glorify His name. For it is only through Him that we can claim this power and only with His blessing that we can use it in our daily battle.
    Ask yourself:
    Are you ready to accept God's challenge and take up the powerful sword God gave you? Are you ready to trust in Him so that you can live a life to His glory, victorious agaist the treachery of the world?
  • The Faith of our Fathers
    What Does it Mean to Have the "Faith of Our Fathers"?
    When we open Hebrews 11 often called God’s "Hall of Faith" we aren't just reading ancient history. We are looking at a masterclass on how to walk with God in a hostile world.
    Looking closely at Hebrews 11:23–28, we see the faith of Moses and his parents. Their lives reveal 3 core characteristics of real faith and an actionable model we can live by today: S.E.E.F.
    Let’s dive deep into what God’s Word teaches us!
    Characteristics of the Faith of Our Fathers
    1. A Faith That Protects (v. 23)
    "By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents..."
    True faith doesn't throw up its hands in fear when society or government laws contradict God. Moses’ parents (Amram and Jochebed) faced a decree from Pharaoh to kill all male babies. Yet, their faith drove them to protect what God had entrusted to them.
    Application: Faith acts as a shield over our families, our calling, and our spiritual lives against the enemy’s attacks.
    2. A Perceiving Faith (v. 23)
    "...because they saw he was a beautiful [proper/special] child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command."
    Physical eyes only see problems; eyes of faith perceive God’s divine purpose. Moses’ parents didn't just see a newborn baby—they perceived by faith that God had a specific destiny for his life. This perception cast out their fear of Pharaoh.
    Application: Faith gives you spiritual vision to see God's plan hidden inside difficult circumstances.
    3. A Faith That Perseveres (v. 24)
    "By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter..."
    Notice that Moses' faith matured as he grew up. He didn't just rely on his parents' religion; he developed a personal, enduring faith that stood the test of time and temptation.
    Application: Real faith lasts. It carries you through childhood into adulthood, through changing seasons, and through life's trials.
    The Faith of Moses — The "S.E.E.F." Model
    Moses' life gives us a 4-step blueprint for walking in victorious faith:
    S — Self-denying Faith (v. 24–25)
    Moses gave up royal status, boundless wealth, and the top position in Egypt. Why? Because faith chooses to suffer with God’s people rather than enjoy the short-lived pleasures of sin.
    True faith knows when to say "NO" to the world so it can say "YES" to God.
    E — Expectant Faith (v. 26)
    "...esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward."
    • Moses wasn't focused on what he was losing in Egypt; he was focused on what God promised in eternity. Expectant faith keeps its eyes on God's ultimate reward, making present sacrifices feel small.
    Faith measures value by eternity, not by worldly success.
    E — Enduring Faith (v.27)
    "By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible."
    Moses faced the rage of the most powerful ruler on Earth, yet he stood firm. How? Because he saw the invisible God as more real than the visible king.
    When you can "see" the Invisible God, you can endure any visible trial.
    F — Faith in God’s Message of Salvation (v. 28–29)
    Moses kept the Passover and applied the blood of the lamb so that the destroyer would not touch Israel. He led the people through the Red Sea by trusting God's word.
    Ultimate faith always anchors itself in God’s plan of salvation through the Blood of the Lamb!
    PERSONAL REFLECTION:
    Faith isn't passive, it protects, perceives, perseveres, denies self, expects God's best, endures hardship, and rests in Salvation.
    Which of these area(s) is God challenging you to grow in this week?
