  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    FRIDAY AUGUST 14, 2O26.
    "PROMISES, PROMISES!' (1)"

    ‘…when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.’ Hebrews 10:36 NIV.

    MANY OF us remember singing in church, ‘Every promise in the Book is mine!’ Exciting words—but are they entirely true? If you’ve prayed for the fulfilment of a Bible promise that didn’t materialise, you may have wondered, felt disillusioned, or even stopped trusting. What’s true is that every promise in the Book intended for you, is yours! God is committed to keeping every promise He has made (Matthew 24:35). So how can you know which Bible promises are yours? Here are some scriptural guidelines to help you: 1) Be sure you understand the promise. God is committed to His Word, not to your interpretation of it. When Jesus said, ‘…Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up’ (John 2:19 NKJV), His audience completely misunderstood Him, thinking He meant the literal temple when He meant His body. 2) Walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. Walking in the Spirit, Peter received divine understanding of Christ’s deity. When Jesus asked, ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘…this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father…’ (Matthew 16:15-17 NIV). Soon afterwards, walking in the flesh, the same man totally misunderstood Jesus and was severely rebuked by Jesus (Matthew 16:21-23). Why? Because ‘…the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God…nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned’ (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV). So submit your thoughts to God; pray for His guidance, and in due course, you’ll get the insight you need.

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy" (HABAKKUK 3:2).*_
    *Reviewing the history of revivals in Christendom, English author and theologian, Os Guinness, states that these spontaneous supernatural acts occur during turbulent times. Examining the periods of the Christian Reformation, Revival, and Renaissance, he concludes that the darkest hour is often just before the dawn. Consequently, we should always be people of hope and prayer rather than gloom and defeatism. God can turn the situation around in a moment.*
    *The cleric took lessons from the experience of Habakkuk, the prophet who was struck with terror on learning from the Lord that the land of Judah would be attacked by the fierce Chaldean troops from Babylon. Already disturbed by the iniquities of injustice and impunity around him, on which he expected the Lord to act, Habakkuk was now informed that more disquietude was on the way. The prophet was made to understand that even the Chaldeans, who were to be used as an instrument of punishment, were themselves to face the wrath of God for their wickedness. His anxiety was relieved when he realised that the God of mercy he served was at the point of reviving His people in the process. He went on to intercede for precisely that.*
    *With humanity now also traumatised by sporadic assaults coming through technological inventions like Artificial Intelligence (AI), wars, insecurity, dysfunctional governance, threats of nuclear conflagration, there are fears that man is on the brink, looking into the bottomless abyss. Really? Not so. The Christian is challenged, rather, like Habakkuk, to plead for revival among the turmoil. It is the hour to ask for an unprecedented move of God's Spirit in the world, an event that should usher multitudes to repentance and turning to Christ for succour in trying times.*
    *The Lord's second coming is imminent, going by the signs we are witnessing. It is a timely call for vigilant heaven-seeking Christians to strengthen their commitment to holiness, evangelism, study of God's word, fellowship, and acts of kindness. We shouldn't be despondent as we observe the events that signal the end-time; instead, we should discern revival on the horizon.*
    Time is a gift from God to everyone. We have a lot of time on earth, but it won't last forever. Our time here will end at some point. Therefore, we must use our time wisely. That requires good planning. Proper use of your time will help you make the most of opportunities and succeed in life.
    There's a time for school, homework, play, house chores, and rest. Make time for prayer and Bible reading. Do the right thing when it is needed. Don't waste all your time on phones, television and games. Say no to procrastination.
    SATURDAY, 15TH AUGUST, 2026.
    *PRAYER AND PASSION FOR REVIVAL*
    *TEXT:* HABAKKUK 3:1-2.
    1.A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.
    2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lotrd, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
    *Timeless Truth:* _"My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word"_ (Psalm 119:25).
    *INTRODUCTION*
    Revival, in the Christian context, is the sovereign visitation of God that brings renewed spiritual life, deep repentance, holiness, restoration and fresh power to His people. There are many contemporary cases of revival in addition to the one in Bible days. Jonah was used by God to bring Revival to the people of Nineveh where all the 120,000 inhabitants got convicted and converted. There were revivals in Israel during the time of king Hezekiah and Josiah. The Early Church also experienced great revival immediately after the Pentecost. When there is spiritual coldness and indifference to spiritual things, when there is no clear distinction between the world and the Church, when saints are distracted from heavenly desire to earthly preoccupation, then revival is needed. When the saints are weak, powerless and fainting in scriptural conviction and consecration, then we need revival. When formalism and entertainment fill our worship instead of true and holy devotion to God and heavenly things, revival is needed. In order to experience revival, there must be deep concern and burden for prayer coupled with passion for revival. It takes a revived person to be an instrument of revival.
    *1. The Man of Prayer*
    a. The man God uses must be a man of bended knees with power of prayer. *"A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.”*
    Habakkuk was not merely a prophet who preached; he was also a man who prayed. His direct communication with God was not clogged. God could express His mind and vision to him clearly and He also could hear from God and communicate with God effectively and fruitfully. He was a true servant of God that stood between God and man as mediator. He lived a life that was pleasing to God and God could speak to him about people. He dwelt in the midst of compromised and corrupted people without being defiled and with boldness to declare unto them their sins and evil as God had told him without fear or favour.
    His response to the difficult circumstances surrounding Judah was to seek God. The spiritual condition of a nation should drive God's servants to their knees. Revival begins when someone becomes sufficiently burdened to pray as he comes out of the cocoon of self seeking and self satisfaction.
    b. There is no revival that ever came in human history without people who had the passion and power of prayer from God. Habakkuk's prayer demonstrates that prayer is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of dependence upon the Almighty. The revival God wants to bring may begin with one person who is willing to stand before Him in persistent intercession. Churches need prayer warriors who will carry the burden of their generation before God. The praying saints or warriors that bring revival concentrate their prayers on heavenly things and not on earthly benefits and blessings. Earnest, consistent and persistent prayers by holy people with deep burden and passion for the glory of God, salvation of souls and perfection of saints are indispensable to a true God sent revival.
    *Question*
    Am I sufficiently burdened by the spiritual condition of my generation to become a man or woman of prayer?
    *2. The Manifestation of Passion*
    *"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid"*.
    Habakkuk's prayer reveals intense spiritual passion. Having heard God's Word and understood His dealings with His people, he was moved deeply. He was such a person that was not indifferent to the Word of God. The Word of God moved, burned and melted his heart. It became fire in his bones that only revival could quench. First he heard the voice of God. Second he was afraid. He was like Noah who, after hearing the Word of God, believed and *"being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house"* (Hebrews 11:7). True passion for God is not passive. It actively engages in things that will bring change and revival.
    b. Passion for revival means longing to see God glorified, sinners saved, believers renewed and righteousness restored. Habakkuk did not ask God merely to improve circumstances; he asked Him to revive His work. True revival passion is therefore God-centred rather than man-centred. We must pray until spiritual hunger replaces spiritual complacency.
    *Question*
    Does my prayer life demonstrate a genuine passion for God to revive His work in my generation?
    *3. The Mercy from the Potentate*
    a. What does this world need desperately from God? Mercy! The degree of worldliness and ungodliness are inexcusable. Man deliberately lives his life, spurning His Word and commandments as if God does not exist. Saints' lives are soiled with carnality, worldliness and corruption. Their focus has shifted from serving the Lord to what mundane things the Lord will give to them.
    b. Passionate prayer for the mercy of God is an indication that we accept that God has been offended and He is angry at us because of our coldness and carnality. It should always be a prayer point constantly. *“In the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”*
    Habakkuk recognized God as the sovereign Potentate who has authority to judge, revive, restore and show mercy. He therefore pleaded, *“in wrath remember mercy.”* Revival cannot be manufactured by human ability; it must come through divine mercy and sovereign intervention.
    The prophet understood that although God's people might deserve judgment, God's mercy could provide restoration. This should encourage us to approach God humbly and plead for mercy upon the Church, families, communities, and nations. When God shows mercy, dry bones can live again, cold hearts can burn again and His work can flourish again.
    *Question*
    Am I humbly pleading with the sovereign God to remember mercy and revive His work in our generation? What decision are you making to be an agent of revival in your church and community?
    *Prayer Points*
    1.O Lord, make me a man/woman of prayer, burdened continually for revival and spiritual awakening.
    2.O Lord, ignite within me an unquenchable passion for Your glory and the advancement of Your work .
    3.O Lord, the sovereign Potentate, revive Your work in the Church, in families and throughout our nation .
    4 Lord, in wrath remember mercy; pour out Your Spirit, save the lost, restore the backslidden and let genuine revival come upon our generation .
    *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit
    *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 22-25.
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    [It is of] the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness. ⏤ Lamentations 3:22-23
    God will meet you where you are in order to take you where He wants you to go. ⏤ Tony Evans
    Lord, You created us in Your own image so that we might truly be Your children. We come to You this morning seeking Your favor. Please take away anything that hinders us from fully experiencing Your love. Just as the rising sun drives away the darkness, may Your love drive away the shadows in our souls. As the morning light spreads across fields and valleys, may Your grace surround us and fill us with Your holy love.
    We confess that we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. We have not lived in a way that honors You. We want today to be the best day we’ve ever lived. Please give us special grace, a special measure of Your Spirit, so we can stay close to You. Help us to do our everyday work better—more skillfully, more neatly, and more quickly than ever before. Help us to keep You in our thoughts as we go about our tasks. Give us more of the mind of Christ so that we may be sweet-spirited and kind-hearted. May Your love shine through us so that we reflect You in everything we do and say. Sanctify our influence on others.
    Many of our friends need Your help and blessing today. Some will find their duties hard because they are discouraged. Life hasn’t been easy for them. They’ve faced setbacks and losses. Please remember them and bless them in their discouragement. Keep them from losing heart. Give them courage and hope, and sustain them with Your grace. There are homes in distress because loved ones are sick. Please bless those homes tenderly. Spare the lives of those who are ill if it is Your will. We ask for these mercies, confident in Your compassion, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Once the rapture happens, it will be too late. *If you are still living in disobedience, the right time for you to sincerely repent and be saved is now!* 🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥 ```🅿️rayer:``` _*Dear Father, help me to be wise and to do the right thing at the right time.*_ 🙏🏽 ```📖 Further Reading:``` *2 Corinthians 6:2* Time Is A Gift https://dailymanna.app// *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#SincereMilk15thAugust2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS] [15/08, 12:11 am] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* SATURDAY, 15TH AUGUST, 2026. *PRAYER AND PASSION FOR REVIVAL* *TEXT:* HABAKKUK 3:1-2. 1.A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. 2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lotrd, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. *Timeless Truth:* _"My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word"_ (Psalm 119:25). *INTRODUCTION* Revival, in the Christian context, is the sovereign visitation of God that brings renewed spiritual life, deep repentance, holiness, restoration and fresh power to His people. There are many contemporary cases of revival in addition to the one in Bible days. Jonah was used by God to bring Revival to the people of Nineveh where all the 120,000 inhabitants got convicted and converted. There were revivals in Israel during the time of king Hezekiah and Josiah. The Early Church also experienced great revival immediately after the Pentecost. When there is spiritual coldness and indifference to spiritual things, when there is no clear distinction between the world and the Church, when saints are distracted from heavenly desire to earthly preoccupation, then revival is needed. When the saints are weak, powerless and fainting in scriptural conviction and consecration, then we need revival. When formalism and entertainment fill our worship instead of true and holy devotion to God and heavenly things, revival is needed. In order to experience revival, there must be deep concern and burden for prayer coupled with passion for revival. It takes a revived person to be an instrument of revival. *1. The Man of Prayer* a. The man God uses must be a man of bended knees with power of prayer. *"A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.”* Habakkuk was not merely a prophet who preached; he was also a man who prayed. His direct communication with God was not clogged. God could express His mind and vision to him clearly and He also could hear from God and communicate with God effectively and fruitfully. He was a true servant of God that stood between God and man as mediator. He lived a life that was pleasing to God and God could speak to him about people. He dwelt in the midst of compromised and corrupted people without being defiled and with boldness to declare unto them their sins and evil as God had told him without fear or favour. His response to the difficult circumstances surrounding Judah was to seek God. The spiritual condition of a nation should drive God's servants to their knees. Revival begins when someone becomes sufficiently burdened to pray as he comes out of the cocoon of self seeking and self satisfaction. b. There is no revival that ever came in human history without people who had the passion and power of prayer from God. Habakkuk's prayer demonstrates that prayer is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of dependence upon the Almighty. The revival God wants to bring may begin with one person who is willing to stand before Him in persistent intercession. Churches need prayer warriors who will carry the burden of their generation before God. The praying saints or warriors that bring revival concentrate their prayers on heavenly things and not on earthly benefits and blessings. Earnest, consistent and persistent prayers by holy people with deep burden and passion for the glory of God, salvation of souls and perfection of saints are indispensable to a true God sent revival. *Question* Am I sufficiently burdened by the spiritual condition of my generation to become a man or woman of prayer? *2. The Manifestation of Passion* *"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid"*. Habakkuk's prayer reveals intense spiritual passion. Having heard God's Word and understood His dealings with His people, he was moved deeply. He was such a person that was not indifferent to the Word of God. The Word of God moved, burned and melted his heart. It became fire in his bones that only revival could quench. First he heard the voice of God. Second he was afraid. He was like Noah who, after hearing the Word of God, believed and *"being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house"* (Hebrews 11:7). True passion for God is not passive. It actively engages in things that will bring change and revival. b. Passion for revival means longing to see God glorified, sinners saved, believers renewed and righteousness restored. Habakkuk did not ask God merely to improve circumstances; he asked Him to revive His work. True revival passion is therefore God-centred rather than man-centred. We must pray until spiritual hunger replaces spiritual complacency. *Question* Does my prayer life demonstrate a genuine passion for God to revive His work in my generation? *3. The Mercy from the Potentate* a. What does this world need desperately from God? Mercy! The degree of worldliness and ungodliness are inexcusable. Man deliberately lives his life, spurning His Word and commandments as if God does not exist. Saints' lives are soiled with carnality, worldliness and corruption. Their focus has shifted from serving the Lord to what mundane things the Lord will give to them. b. Passionate prayer for the mercy of God is an indication that we accept that God has been offended and He is angry at us because of our coldness and carnality. It should always be a prayer point constantly. *“In the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”* Habakkuk recognized God as the sovereign Potentate who has authority to judge, revive, restore and show mercy. He therefore pleaded, *“in wrath remember mercy.”* Revival cannot be manufactured by human ability; it must come through divine mercy and sovereign intervention. The prophet understood that although God's people might deserve judgment, God's mercy could provide restoration. This should encourage us to approach God humbly and plead for mercy upon the Church, families, communities, and nations. When God shows mercy, dry bones can live again, cold hearts can burn again and His work can flourish again. *Question* Am I humbly pleading with the sovereign God to remember mercy and revive His work in our generation? What decision are you making to be an agent of revival in your church and community? *Prayer Points* 1.O Lord, make me a man/woman of prayer, burdened continually for revival and spiritual awakening🙏. 2.O Lord, ignite within me an unquenchable passion for Your glory and the advancement of Your work 🙏. 3.O Lord, the sovereign Potentate, revive Your work in the Church, in families and throughout our nation 🙏. 4 Lord, in wrath remember mercy; pour out Your Spirit, save the lost, restore the backslidden and let genuine revival come upon our generation 🙏. *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 22-25. 2. Morning Prayer for today. MP.i. Morning Prayer [It is of] the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.     Very Far from Evil
    In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you. Isaiah 54:14 (NKJV)
    God putting you right with Him puts you at a distance from oppression as far as the east is from the west and the north from the south. It is not only your spirit that is at distance, even your mind and your physical body. You are far from oppression because you are no longer in the territory of the oppressor; you are in the kingdom of light by reason of your salvation.
    You are also far from terror because of your right standing with God. Terror means overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety. It is the instrument the terrorist uses to paralyse faith and neutralise confidence in God. It is when the terrorist succeeds in instilling fear that he hands over the person to the oppressor. Your salvation which is divine visitation is a limitation to the terrorist whether from hell or from the world. This is your day.
    Wisdom Fountain: “Divine freedom from oppression is the spiritual truth that no human chains can bind a soul aligned with the Divine.”
    Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come with a heart full of thanks. You broke my chains and lifted the heavy weight of oppression. You are my strong tower, and I praise You for your saving power and sweet release in Jesus’ name.
  • HOW TO KNOW GOD'S WILL FOR IMPORTANT DECISIONS IN YOUR LIFE. Part 5 of 6.
    How God Makes Known His Will for Specific Decisions and Needs. Continued.
    God is under no obligation to fulfill the promise in James 1:5 to give us wisdom unless we are willing to meet the conditions for obtaining it. Moreover, God declares that He only answers prayer when the motive is right, and that mere asking is not sufficient (Jam. 4:3). Frequently the Christian prays for guidance, or a revelation of God's will about some matter, but already has his mind made up as to what he wants to do, or how he would like for God to answer. Some people have been known to lie awake all night pleading with God to answer their prayer with no higher motive than the desire to persuade Him to come over to their side and give them their own way.
    Therefore, it is just as great a fallacy to emphasize the notion which is so popular today that prayer is the solution to all our problems, as it is to neglect prayer, using it only in an emergency. That is to say, we find the unscriptural idea being promoted on every hand that mere prayer is supposed to be the panacea for all our needs. In every time of crisis, when problems or troubles arise, when a difficult or seemingly impossible situation confronts us, the first thing most people advise is prayer.
    "Have you tried prayer?" they will ask. Or we are told, quite sincerely, "Did you know, prayer changes things?" They do not tell us, of course, just how prayer will change things, nor do they
    teach us how to pray about the problem confronting us. We are not advised, furthermore, as to whether or not God requires anything from us in the matter. "Just pray" we are told, "for prayer usually helps."
    However, as we have seen, God clearly states that He does not answer every prayer, in fact, He emphatically declares that He does not even hear our prayers unless they meet the conditions
    He has set forth in His Word. One of the most important conditions we must meet when asking for divine wisdom and guidance is that we must ask in faith, believing, without any reservations, that God will answer our request. This is clearly stated in James 1:5-7: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him. But how? Let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord."
    The prayer of faith is simply a prayer of expectation. What God tells us here in James 1:5-7 is that when we ask for divine wisdom and guidance we should pray expecting Him to grant
    our desire.
    Moreover, the prayer of faith is to be offered but once, for Jesus tells us in Mark 11:24, 'What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them." Faith asks but once for God to fulfill a promise. To continue to pray, pleading with God to answer, is our confession that I do not really believe that He has answered when we pray as He tells us to do (Mark 11:24).
    In view of this fact, if we pray ten times for the same promise, we have prayed nine times in unbelief, for faith knows when to stop praying about the promise and start praising God for the
    answer. There is a time to stop praying or you will pray yourself out of faith. When is this? You should always stop praying for a promise when you believe you have received the answer. Since
    Jesus tells us to believe we have received when we pray, quite obviously we should do our believing and receiving when we pray. Then we should cease praying for the answer and begin
    praising God that the manifestation of the answer is on the way.
    Jesus does not say in Mark 11:24 that the symptoms will improve immediately when we pray, or that the circumstances will show immediate change, but that we are to believe that He has both heard and granted our petition when we pray and that we shall have it. Faith keeps a distinction between accepting the answer and receiving it to our sight. We are to accept the answer when we pray (believe that God has granted our petition), and we shall have it (manifested to our sight). Merely because we do not see it immediately does not mean that God has not heard our petition and granted the answer, but only that He has not manifested the answer as yet.
    The question often arises concerning the widow and the judge in Luke 18, as to whether or not Jesus here approves of repetition in prayer for the same thing. This is not, however, an instance of repetition prayer, for Jesus would not contradict Himself elsewhere, but here He is stressing the need of persistence and perseverance in prayer; that is, holding onto a promise by faith, reaffirming daily, by praise and thanksgiving, that we believe that He has heard and granted our petition. In Matthew 6:7-8, Jesus condemns repetition prayer as typical of the prayers of
    the heathen, saying, "But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking," but "when you pray believe that you receive" (Mk. 11:24).
    Our first concern, therefore, when guidance from heaven is needed is not merely to resort to the shallow suggestion we so often hear today that one should "try prayer" as it may help, but
    it should be a time of searching the Word, and then our hearts, to see if we are fulfilling the conditions for God hearing our prayers and granting our petitions.
    As A. W. Tower once remarked, the popular notion that God always answers prayer (with "yes" or "no") is a device of Satan to deceive the carnal or indifferent Christian whose request was not answered because of his failure to meet God's conditions. To think that God always answers prayer, even if He says "no," is to take God's refusal to answer a disobedient Christian as the answer itself, contending, "Well, after all, God did answer me - He said 'no'." Such a view of prayer is contrary to Scripture, for God clearly states that He does not even hear those prayers which are not in harmony with His will (1 Jn 5:14-15; Ps. 66:18). Moreover, if an individual erroneously believes the popular notion that God always answers any prayer, and that "no" can also be an answer, then this person is never challenged to face the fact that his failure to receive an answer was due to his disobedience, lack of faith, or his failure to meet some other condition.
    I can personally testify to the fact that when we are careful to meet the scriptural requirements, then God delights in directing our steps, giving divine guidance and wisdom concerning those
    matters we place before Him. Thank God it is true, if any man lacks wisdom he may ask of
    God and it shall be given to him. Do you need wisdom or guidance in some important matter?
    Have you tried asking God, and in faith expecting Him to answer you? You are invited to do so in James 1:5.
    By Direct Revelation;
    As stated at the beginning of Chapter 2, there are eight scriptural methods by which God's will is revealed - three are active, in which we take the initiative, and five are passive, whereby we become the recipients of divine revelation concerning God's will for us. Passive revelation always comes to us unsought.
    Direct revelation may be either by vision, as in the case of Paul's vision in Acts 16 which was revelation of God's will for him to carry the Gospel into Europe; by direct voice, as seen in the case of God's call of Samuel (1 Sam. 3); by angelic visitation, as, for example, in the angel's visit to Mary and his revelation to her of the birth of Christ; or by dream, as we find, for instance in God's revelation to Daniel of the establishment of His Kingdom (Dan. 7).
    Jesus promised to continue revelation to the Church after His ascension, saying, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come (Jn. 16:13).
    When the Church lost the experience of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, she closed the channel and source of revelation. As a consequence, the Church changed her theology to conform
    with her experience, and there arose the erroneous concept that God purposed that all revelation was to cease with the apostles in the first century. It is interesting that there is not a word in the Scriptures to support this theory, but, on the contrary, God clearly states in 2 Corinthians 12-14 and Ephesians 4:11 that He has set in the church the gifts and ministries of revelation. In Romans 12:3-6 and 1 Corinthians 14 He admonishes us to ask for and use the gift of prophecy. In Joel 2 He clearly promises that in the last days "I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" (2:17); While He promised in John 16:13, quoted above, to continue revelation to the Church through the Holy Spirit whom He would send. The various methods by which He would give His people direct revelation are stated to be by means of prophecy, vision and dream (Num. 12:6; Acts 2:17-18; 1Cor. 12; 14), by direct voice and vision (Jn. 16:13), "speak"' and "show" and on occasion, by angelic visitation (e.g. Luke 1; Acts 10:12; 27:23-24; cf. Heb. 13:2).
    It is important that we understand that although God occasionally uses each of the passive methods of revelation to unveil His will to us when He so chooses, we should not seek guidance by these means.
    Why does God choose the direct means of revelation, as, for example, through visions and dreams as a method of communication of His will and purpose? Why does He not merely illumine our minds as to His will as we pray or read His Word seeking guidance?
    Among other reasons, occasionally He must speak directly to us because of the urgency of the matter about which we are seeking guidance which must be dealt with immediately, or in a certain way, often contrary to what our wisdom and logic might tell us to do. At other times He speaks directly, imparting instruction or guidance, not concerning some matter about which we are praying, but about some important purpose which He wants to accomplish in or through us, which could only be made known to us by direct revelation. Again He speaks to us in visions for the obvious reason that one picture is worth a thousand words.
    God sometimes communicates His will to us through dreams, inasmuch as the state of sleep has certain definite advantages. At this time the conscious mind is at rest and is free from distractions. The spirit, of course, remains awake and can accept without analyzing and questioning what God desires to impart to us. Moreover, through the medium of vision and dream God can impress upon us revelation which transcends the sense realm and the ability of the intellect alone to comprehend. In some instances, God speaks directly in an audible voice
    in order to instruct us or reveal His will in some matter.
    By Indirect Revelation:
    God speaks to us occasionally by direct means, but generally He communicates His will to us indirectly. It may in the form of an inward knowing or witness in our spirit, or it may come as an inner witness to our spirit, or it may come as an inner witness from the Holy Spirit. At other times the Holy Spirit may give the guidance we need by the illumination of our minds to understand and interpret some portions of scripture which He will direct us to, or by giving the necessary wisdom and insight we require to make the correct decision concerning some matter about which we have prayed for direction.
    It is in the realm of indirect revelation that the importance of being completely yielded to the Holy Spirit is so evident, as was pointed out in the first chapter. To the extent one is yielded to the Spirit will he be sensitive to His voice when He speaks, and to the extent one is sensitive to His voice will he be able to respond. Moreover, there are many voices seeking to influence the believer, some of which are from God and some are not. Unless one is fully yielded he may be insensitive to the voice of the Spirit, or be deceived and ensnared by that which is false. A small puppy will respond to anyone who calls or offers it a crust of bread, but a well trained mature dog will not do so. It is sensitive only to the voice of its owner. It did not get this way by spending all its time running and playing with the other dogs, but it is the result of devoting long hours in discipline and training, learning to obey and respond to the voice of its master. We become sensitive to the influence and leading of the Spirit in the same manner.
    God is preparing His children for spiritual warfare ahead which will consist of men and women who will be so sensitive to the voice of the Spirit they will respond immediately and obey without question. Like a computer, they will be able to filter out that which is false and sense any error immediately. They will not have to call the pastor and ask if this or that doctrine is scriptural, or whether the prophecy which they heard is true or false, or whether or not some task they feel led to undertake is from God, the flesh, or the devil. However, the only way the believer will become sensitive will be through total consecration to Jesus and fully yielding to the Spirit.
    At present we find Christians so untrained in the Scriptures and so insensitive to the voice of the Spirit that many frequently will reject what God is saying and allow themselves to be deceived by that which is false and unscriptural, just as Jesus predicted would occur in these last days (Matt 24; 2 Tim 4:1-4). Again and again we are hearing of those who are falling victim to various errors, such as ultimate reconciliation where God will save everyone regardless if they repent or not including the devil and his demons, false hyper-grace gospel where a Christian does not need to confess sin after he is saved or does not need repentance to stay in fellowship with God, errors on the Godhead where they deny that the Father, Son, Holy Spirit are co-eternal and co-equal, once saved always saved that it does not matter how a person lives his life after salvation, we are all sinners even after salvation and no need to live a consecrated life, the give to get carnal prosperity gospel where you give me money and 100 fold comes back so you will be rich. Or the heresy taught by some that Jesus had to become a sinner on the cross to redeem us and suffered three days in hell tormented by demons.
    We find others, in a time where we are witnessing the revival of all forms of the occult, being deluded by believing everything supernatural is from heaven, and everyone who prophesies, has a vision, or predicts the future is from God. We find men and women calling themselves Apostles and Prophets commonly now who were never appointed or anointed from heaven but self-appointed deceiving many. As Jesus said, take heed lest YOU be deceived. (Matt 24:4)
    DISCERNING THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
    AND RECOGNIZING THE WITNESS WITHIN;
    In order to mature in faith and become effective instruments in God's hands so that we will be in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing, it is necessary for us to learn how to
    recognize the inner witness of the Spirit, as well as discern the voice of the Holy Spirit. These are the two basic ways by which God leads and directs His people, whether in answer to some prayer for guidance, or in order to fulfill His will and purpose in their lives. We find that God frequently endeavors to speak to His people by means of the voice of His Spirit in order to
    direct guide, teach, or influence them along some line, but since they have not been taught how to discern His voice He often goes unheeded. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice and they follow me" Jn. 10:27). How can they follow Him if they do not know how to discern His voice? He certainly did not mean that He intended to shout down out of heaven in order to direct them, but He did promise that He would speak to them by His Spirit which would be within them: "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you in all truth" (John 16:13), and "he shall teach you in all things" (14:26).
    Some Christians are waiting for God to give them a revelation through a vision or prophecy concerning His will for them, or regarding some important matter about which they are praying,
    when, if they only realized it, God is already trying to communicate His will to them by His Spirit within them. If they would spend a little more time in His Word and in prayer, and be willing to get still before Him for a while, then they would begin to discern His voice and hear Him speaking inwardly to their spirits.
    The inner voice of the Holy Spirit is the voice of God speaking directly to your spirit in order to guide, admonish, teach, warn, or influence you concerning some matter (about which you may or may not be praying).
    God also enables us to know His will regarding some matter about which we are praying, or about some question which concerns us, by means of a witness within. This is an inward
    knowing in your spirit that a certain contemplated action on your part, or some doctrine, or revelation, for example, is right or wrong. Not only is the Christian the temple of the Holy Spirit,
    Who abides within to speak the direct revelation of God's will to him (Jn 16:13; 1 Cor. 2:10-13), but he also has, by virtue of the new birth, a new heart to discern spiritual things himself, and know the will of God intuitively by his own spirit (1 Cor. 2:14-16). He has received an anointing which abides in him and teaches him all things (1 Jn. 2:27).
    Thus, we find that it is also through his own enlightened spirit that the Christian is able by an inward knowing or witness to discern whether or not something is right or wrong. Let us say, for example, that you are praying about some matter about which you must make a decision, such as whether or not to buy a certain piece of property, marry a particular individual, or accept an invitation to speak to some religious group. If after thinking and praying about the question you find that inwardly there is a positive confirmation in your spirit to go ahead in the matter, or, you find that you experience a sense of uncertainty, reluctance, or heaviness of spirit, then this is an inner witness in your spirit informing you of God's will in the matter.
    In the former instance, your spirit was witnessing to you to go ahead, and in the latter, it was a warning not to take the proposed action. The witness within is an inward knowing intuitively, through the enlightened spirit of a Christian, that a certain contemplated action, a doctrine, some individual, or a ministry, for instance, is right or wrong, whereas the inner voice of the Holy Spirit is God speaking directly by His Spirit within you concerning some matter. It must be stressed, however, that the inward witness and the inner voice of the Spirit are not merely some "feeling" we may have about a matter. They have nothing to do with what one feels either with the physical senses or the emotions. It is either an inward knowing (inner witness) that something is right or wrong, or it is an inner awareness that the Spirit of God is speaking directly to our spirit about some matter (inner voice of the Spirit). In every time of crisis, when problems or troubles arise, when a difficult or seemingly impossible situation confronts us, the first thing most people advise is prayer. "Have you tried prayer?" they will ask. Or we are told, quite sincerely, "Did you know, prayer changes things?" They do not tell us, of course, just how prayer will change things, nor do they teach us how to pray about the problem confronting us. We are not advised, furthermore, as to whether or not God requires anything from us in the matter. "Just pray" we are told, "for prayer usually helps." However, as we have seen, God clearly states that He does not answer every prayer, in fact, He emphatically declares that He does not even hear our prayers unless they meet the conditions He has set forth in His Word. One of the most important conditions we must meet when asking for divine wisdom and guidance is that we must ask in faith, believing, without any reservations, that God will answer our request. This is clearly stated in James 1:5-7: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him. But how? Let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord." The prayer of faith is simply a prayer of expectation. What God tells us here in James 1:5-7 is that when we ask for divine wisdom and guidance we should pray expecting Him to grant our desire. Moreover, the prayer of faith is to be offered but once, for Jesus tells us in Mark 11:24, 'What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them." Faith asks but once for God to fulfill a promise. To continue to pray, pleading with God to answer, is our confession that I do not really believe that He has answered when we pray as He tells us to do (Mark 11:24). In view of this fact, if we pray ten times for the same promise, we have prayed nine times in unbelief, for faith knows when to stop praying about the promise and start praising God for the answer. There is a time to stop praying or you will pray yourself out of faith. When is this? You should always stop praying for a promise when you believe you have received the answer. Since Jesus tells us to believe we have received when we pray, quite obviously we should do our believing and receiving when we pray. Then we should cease praying for the answer and begin praising God that the manifestation of the answer is on the way. Jesus does not say in Mark 11:24 that the symptoms will improve immediately when we pray, or that the circumstances will show immediate change, but that we are to believe that He has both heard and granted our petition when we pray and that we shall have it. Faith keeps a distinction between accepting the answer and receiving it to our sight. We are to accept the answer when we pray (believe that God has granted our petition), and we shall have it (manifested to our sight). Merely because we do not see it immediately does not mean that God has not heard our petition and granted the answer, but only that He has not manifested the answer as yet. The question often arises concerning the widow and the judge in Luke 18, as to whether or not Jesus here approves of repetition in prayer for the same thing. This is not, however, an instance of repetition prayer, for Jesus would not contradict Himself elsewhere, but here He is stressing the need of persistence and perseverance in prayer; that is, holding onto a promise by faith, reaffirming daily, by praise and thanksgiving, that we believe that He has heard and granted our petition. In Matthew 6:7-8, Jesus condemns repetition prayer as typical of the prayers of the heathen, saying, "But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking," but "when you pray believe that you receive" (Mk. 11:24). Our first concern, therefore, when guidance from heaven is needed is not merely to resort to the shallow suggestion we so often hear today that one should "try prayer" as it may help, but it should be a time of searching the Word, and then our hearts, to see if we are fulfilling the conditions for God hearing our prayers and granting our petitions. As A. W. Tower once remarked, the popular notion that God always answers prayer (with "yes" or "no") is a device of Satan to deceive the carnal or indifferent Christian whose request was not answered because of his failure to meet God's conditions. To think that God always answers prayer, even if He says "no," is to take God's refusal to answer a disobedient Christian as the answer itself, contending, "Well, after all, God did answer me - He said 'no'." Such a view of prayer is contrary to Scripture, for God clearly states that He does not even hear those prayers which are not in harmony with His will (1 Jn 5:14-15; Ps. 66:18). Moreover, if an individual erroneously believes the popular notion that God always answers any prayer, and that "no" can also be an answer, then this person is never challenged to face the fact that his failure to receive an answer was due to his disobedience, lack of faith, or his failure to meet some other condition. I can personally testify to the fact that when we are careful to meet the scriptural requirements, then God delights in directing our steps, giving divine guidance and wisdom concerning those matters we place before Him. Thank God it is true, if any man lacks wisdom he may ask of God and it shall be given to him. Do you need wisdom or guidance in some important matter? Have you tried asking God, and in faith expecting Him to answer you? You are invited to do so in James 1:5. By Direct Revelation; As stated at the beginning of Chapter 2, there are eight scriptural methods by which God's will is revealed - three are active, in which we take the initiative, and five are passive, whereby we become the recipients of divine revelation concerning God's will for us. Passive revelation always comes to us unsought. Direct revelation may be either by vision, as in the case of Paul's vision in Acts 16 which was revelation of God's will for him to carry the Gospel into Europe; by direct voice, as seen in the case of God's call of Samuel (1 Sam. 3); by angelic visitation, as, for example, in the angel's visit to Mary and his revelation to her of the birth of Christ; or by dream, as we find, for instance in God's revelation to Daniel of the establishment of His Kingdom (Dan. 7). Jesus promised to continue revelation to the Church after His ascension, saying, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come (Jn. 16:13). When the Church lost the experience of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, she closed the channel and source of revelation. As a consequence, the Church changed her theology to conform with her experience, and there arose the erroneous concept that God purposed that all revelation was to cease with the apostles in the first century. It is interesting that there is not a word in the Scriptures to support this theory, but, on the contrary, God clearly states in 2 Corinthians 12-14 and Ephesians 4:11 that He has set in the church the gifts and ministries of revelation. In Romans 12:3-6 and 1 Corinthians 14 He admonishes us to ask for and use the gift of prophecy. In Joel 2 He clearly promises that in the last days "I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" (2:17); While He promised in John 16:13, quoted above, to continue revelation to the Church through the Holy Spirit whom He would send. The various methods by which He would give His people direct revelation are stated to be by means of prophecy, vision and dream (Num. 12:6; Acts 2:17-18; 1Cor. 12; 14), by direct voice and vision (Jn. 16:13), "speak"' and "show" and on occasion, by angelic visitation (e.g. Luke 1; Acts 10:12; 27:23-24; cf. Heb. 13:2). It is important that we understand that although God occasionally uses each of the passive methods of revelation to unveil His will to us when He so chooses, we should not seek guidance by these means. Why does God choose the direct means of revelation, as, for example, through visions and dreams as a method of communication of His will and purpose? Why does He not merely illumine our minds as to His will as we pray or read His Word seeking guidance? Among other reasons, occasionally He must speak directly to us because of the urgency of the matter about which we are seeking guidance which must be dealt with immediately, or in a certain way, often contrary to what our wisdom and logic might tell us to do. At other times He speaks directly, imparting instruction or guidance, not concerning some matter about which we are praying, but about some important purpose which He wants to accomplish in or through us, which could only be made known to us by direct revelation. Again He speaks to us in visions for the obvious reason that one picture is worth a thousand words. God sometimes communicates His will to us through dreams, inasmuch as the state of sleep has certain definite advantages. At this time the conscious mind is at rest and is free from distractions. The spirit, of course, remains awake and can accept without analyzing and questioning what God desires to impart to us. Moreover, through the medium of vision and dream God can impress upon us revelation which transcends the sense realm and the ability of the intellect alone to comprehend. In some instances, God speaks directly in an audible voice in order to instruct us or reveal His will in some matter. By Indirect Revelation: God speaks to us occasionally by direct means, but generally He communicates His will to us indirectly. It may in the form of an inward knowing or witness in our spirit, or it may come as an inner witness to our spirit, or it may come as an inner witness from the Holy Spirit. At other times the Holy Spirit may give the guidance we need by the illumination of our minds to understand and interpret some portions of scripture which He will direct us to, or by giving the necessary wisdom and insight we require to make the correct decision concerning some matter about which we have prayed for direction. It is in the realm of indirect revelation that the importance of being completely yielded to the Holy Spirit is so evident, as was pointed out in the first chapter. To the extent one is yielded to the Spirit will he be sensitive to His voice when He speaks, and to the extent one is sensitive to His voice will he be able to respond. Moreover, there are many voices seeking to influence the believer, some of which are from God and some are not. Unless one is fully yielded he may be insensitive to the voice of the Spirit, or be deceived and ensnared by that which is false. A small puppy will respond to anyone who calls or offers it a crust of bread, but a well trained mature dog will not do so. It is sensitive only to the voice of its owner. It did not get this way by spending all its time running and playing with the other dogs, but it is the result of devoting long hours in discipline and training, learning to obey and respond to the voice of its master. We become sensitive to the influence and leading of the Spirit in the same manner. God is preparing His children for spiritual warfare ahead which will consist of men and women who will be so sensitive to the voice of the Spirit they will respond immediately and obey without question. Like a computer, they will be able to filter out that which is false and sense any error immediately. They will not have to call the pastor and ask if this or that doctrine is scriptural, or whether the prophecy which they heard is true or false, or whether or not some task they feel led to undertake is from God, the flesh, or the devil. However, the only way the believer will become sensitive will be through total consecration to Jesus and fully yielding to the Spirit. At present we find Christians so untrained in the Scriptures and so insensitive to the voice of the Spirit that many frequently will reject what God is saying and allow themselves to be deceived by that which is false and unscriptural, just as Jesus predicted would occur in these last days (Matt 24; 2 Tim 4:1-4). Again and again we are hearing of those who are falling victim to various errors, such as ultimate reconciliation where God will save everyone regardless if they repent or not including the devil and his demons, false hyper-grace gospel where a Christian does not need to confess sin after he is saved or does not need repentance to stay in fellowship with God, errors on the Godhead where they deny that the Father, Son, Holy Spirit are co-eternal and co-equal, once saved always saved that it does not matter how a person lives his life after salvation, we are all sinners even after salvation and no need to live a consecrated life, the give to get carnal prosperity gospel where you give me money and 100 fold comes back so you will be rich. Or the heresy taught by some that Jesus had to become a sinner on the cross to redeem us and suffered three days in hell tormented by demons. We find others, in a time where we are witnessing the revival of all forms of the occult, being deluded by believing everything supernatural is from heaven, and everyone who prophesies, has a vision, or predicts the future is from God. We find men and women calling themselves Apostles and Prophets commonly now who were never appointed or anointed from heaven but self-appointed deceiving many. As Jesus said, take heed lest YOU be deceived. (Matt 24:4) DISCERNING THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND RECOGNIZING THE WITNESS WITHIN; In order to mature in faith and become effective instruments in God's hands so that we will be in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing, it is necessary for us to learn how to recognize the inner witness of the Spirit, as well as discern the voice of the Holy Spirit. These are the two basic ways by which God leads and directs His people, whether in answer to some prayer for guidance, or in order to fulfill His will and purpose in their lives. We find that God frequently endeavors to speak to His people by means of the voice of His Spirit in order to direct guide, teach, or influence them along some line, but since they have not been taught how to discern His voice He often goes unheeded. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice and they follow me" Jn. 10:27). How can they follow Him if they do not know how to discern His voice? He certainly did not mean that He intended to shout down out of heaven in order to direct them, but He did promise that He would speak to them by His Spirit which would be within them: "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you in all truth" (John 16:13), and "he shall teach you in all things" (14:26). Some Christians are waiting for God to give them a revelation through a vision or prophecy concerning His will for them, or regarding some important matter about which they are praying, when, if they only realized it, God is already trying to communicate His will to them by His Spirit within them. If they would spend a little more time in His Word and in prayer, and be willing to get still before Him for a while, then they would begin to discern His voice and hear Him speaking inwardly to their spirits. The inner voice of the Holy Spirit is the voice of God speaking directly to your spirit in order to guide, admonish, teach, warn, or influence you concerning some matter (about which you may or may not be praying). God also enables us to know His will regarding some matter about which we are praying, or about some question which concerns us, by means of a witness within. This is an inward knowing in your spirit that a certain contemplated action on your part, or some doctrine, or revelation, for example, is right or wrong. Not only is the Christian the temple of the Holy Spirit, Who abides within to speak the direct revelation of God's will to him (Jn 16:13; 1 Cor. 2:10-13), but he also has, by virtue of the new birth, a new heart to discern spiritual things himself, and know the will of God intuitively by his own spirit (1 Cor. 2:14-16). He has received an anointing which abides in him and teaches him all things (1 Jn. 2:27). Thus, we find that it is also through his own enlightened spirit that the Christian is able by an inward knowing or witness to discern whether or not something is right or wrong. Let us say, for example, that you are praying about some matter about which you must make a decision, such as whether or not to buy a certain piece of property, marry a particular individual, or accept an invitation to speak to some religious group. If after thinking and praying about the question you find that inwardly there is a positive confirmation in your spirit to go ahead in the matter, or, you find that you experience a sense of uncertainty, reluctance, or heaviness of spirit, then this is an inner witness in your spirit informing you of God's will in the matter. In the former instance, your spirit was witnessing to you to go ahead, and in the latter, it was a warning not to take the proposed action. The witness within is an inward knowing intuitively, through the enlightened spirit of a Christian, that a certain contemplated action, a doctrine, some individual, or a ministry, for instance, is right or wrong, whereas the inner voice of the Holy Spirit is God speaking directly by His Spirit within you concerning some matter. It must be stressed, however, that the inward witness and the inner voice of the Spirit are not merely some "feeling" we may have about a matter. They have nothing to do with what one feels either with the physical senses or the emotions. It is either an inward knowing (inner witness) that something is right or wrong, or it is an inner awareness that the Spirit of God is speaking directly to our spirit about some matter (inner voice of the Spirit).     THE WORD FOR TODAY
    MONDAY AUGUST 10, 2O26.
    "WORKING IN THE KINGDOM (1)"
    ‘…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. Mark10:43 NIV
    DISNEYLAND IS referred to as ‘the Magic Kingdom.’ For those who work there, one value is emphasised above all others. It’s what puts the ‘magic’ into that kingdom. What is it? Servanthood! Employees are told that when you walk through those gates, you serve. You treat every encounter with people as if they were your personal guest. If they need directions, you escort them. If they ask a question you’ve heard a hundred times, you answer it as if you’d never heard it before. There’s a ride called the Jungle Cruise, and the most common question asked about it is, ‘How long is this ride?’ So the staff is given a prepared, standard answer: ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ But one employee had been asked it once too often, so when a couple asked, ‘How long is the Jungle Cruise?’ he said, ‘Three days.’ The couple got out of the line, left the park, went back to Disney Hotel where they were on their honeymoon, packed up their suitcases, checked out, and came back to the line at the Jungle Cruise. The next day the Disneyland employee was gone, and someone else was standing at the line saying, ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ When you represent God’s kingdom you’re supposed to go out of your way to facilitate people, love them and meet their needs. Why? Because Jesus, Who is the king in this kingdom, said, ‘…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…’ (Matthew 20:28 NIV).
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God" (ACTS 10:4).*_

    *Jack Wugman was walking down the beach one day. He saw an unusual glass bottle. He bent over and picked up the bottle. His life would be forever changed. There was a note inside, from a man named Singer, who invented and perfected the sewing machine. Singer penned a note, WHOEVER FINDS THIS BOTTLE SHALL INHERIT MY WHOLE ESTATE. The judge validated the note, and Jack inherited millions of dollars from a man he had never met. What if Jack never picked up the bottle? It definitely was a pivotal moment in Wugman's life.*

    *Not everyone reading this today has a bottle floating out there with a million-dollar inheritance, no. But there are pivotal moments God has set for each of our lives. A life-changing moment that is not orchestrated by man, nor induced by any goodness or nobility any of us may have in our history. Cornelius was said to be a devout man who gave alms to support people. He was not an Israelite, but a Roman soldier, a gentile, outside of the commonwealth of Israel. Being a centurion means he was a leader over 100 men. An angel was sent to him by God to acknowledge his devoutness and alms giving. Knowing that that wasn't enough, he was directed to invite Apostle Peter to expound to him the gospel requirements for salvation more perfectly.*

    *The text highlights the significance of understanding Cornelius's character as the key to his esteemed relationship with God, which transcended his position as a centurion. Despite his military rank and prestige, Cornelius's true legacy lay in his love for the Lord and his generosity. His devout lifestyle inspired others, yet it was emphasised that neither good deeds nor religious piety can secure salvation; faith in the Gospel is essential. The angel's visit to Cornelius was not intended to preach the Gospel, as it is divinely decreed that those who have experienced salvation share the Gospel message, underscoring that salvation is a matter of grace through faith, not works.*

    *The main lesson here is the need to impact the world with our resources. We are remembered for what we do for others. God has left a far more valuable treasure for us than whatever was promised by Mr. Singer in our introduction. God wants to use us to tell other people about this treasure. We need to urgently preach Christ to our neighbours. He is the only way to eternal life.*

    *Just like the nine lepers who were cleansed and healed but never returned to show appreciation to Jesus who healed them, so do many find it highly unnecessary to testify of the goodness of God after receiving miracles from Him today. Appreciation is pivotal in our interpersonal relationship with fellow men, needless to talk about our relationship with God.*

    *Those who lack this virtue may not go far in their endeavours because appreciation attracts more blessings as we can find from our text that Jesus was pleased with the only person who came back to show gratitude when he was cleansed of his leprosy.*

    *John F. Kennedy said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." This means our gratitude to God for the good things He has done for us must not be a mere lip service but from the bottom of our hearts.*

    A man who was a Christian went to a barber's shop to have his hair cut. While the barber was cutting the hair, the Christian used the opportunity to share the good news about Jesus with the barber.

    The barber refused to listen through. Instead, he interrupted and told the Christian that there is no God. To him, if God exists, why are people in pain, sickness and poverty. The Christian, who was not ready to engage in any argument, quietly left the barber's shop after the haircut.

    As he was going, he saw a man with an unkept and untidy hair. He therefore turned back to the barber's shop and said to him, *"You know what? Barbers do not exist." "How can you say that"* protested the barber. *"I am here and I am a barber; what happens is that people do not come."*

    *"Exactly,"* said the Christian. *"God does exist, but man do not go to Him and do not look up to Him for the solution to their problems. They rather engage in murmuring, complaining and words of unbelief."*

    *THE UNSTOPPABLE GOSPEL*

    *TEXT:* ACTS 10:1-8.

    1There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
    2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
    3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
    4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
    5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
    6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
    7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
    8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa

    *Timeless Truth:*_"But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God"_ (Acts 5:39).

    *INTRODUCTION*

    There is no way of worshipping God that has faced so much oppositions from both powers and peoples as the gospel of Jesus Christ. If human powers and wisdom could destroy Christianity and the Bible, they would have been destroyed not long after it was birthed at pentecost. The Jewish leaders did all they could to stop the Gospel, but it was birthed by pentecostal power and became dominant among the Jews. The external powers could not stop the spread. Apostle Peter, by the Holy Spirit, opened the door for the evangelization of the Jews at Pentecost in fulfilment of Matthew 16:19 despite the stiff oppositions by the Jews. *"And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom..."* Though Jesus Christ commanded that the Gospel should be preached *"to the uppermost part of the world"*, the mindset of the Apostles was to preach the gospel to the Jews exclusively in *"the uppermost part of the world"*. Jesus had to break this mindset by using Apostle Peter to bring the gospel of salvation to the non-Jews or Gentiles, thus, breaking the internal barrier to the salvation of the Gentiles. This monumental breakthrough in the preaching of the Gospel is the subject of the text.
    When God determines to save a soul, no barrier of race, culture, distance, status or tradition can ultimately stop Him. The Gospel advances because God Himself is committed to its fulfilment.

    *1. Ardent and Faithful to God*

    a. Cornelius was not the first Gentile convert of the Gospel. Phillip, seven years before then, had preached the gospel that led to the conversion of the Eunuch of Ethiopia (Acts 8). That was made possible through the ministry of an angel. Were it left to Phillip to decide and preach to the Gentile Eunuch, he might have refused. Cornelius and his family were the first Gentile family or household to receive the Gospel and and got converted. Under the Law, we could claim that he was saved and righteous, though a Gentile. *“A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house.”* His deep devotion was backed up by works. *"Who gave much alms to the people and prayed always"*. Under salvation by works, he was a candidate for heaven. However, under the gospel of salvation by grace, he was not qualified for heaven. He needed to know Jesus Christ, the only way to God, and believe the Gospel. *"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). If Cornelius had rejected the gospel, but relied only on his righteousness, he would have been damned. *"He that believeth not shall be dammed"*.
    b. The case of Cornelius reinforces the fact that good works and personal righteousness are not enough for salvation. In fact, faithful devotion to God in prayers, fasting and good works are too impotent to bring real salvation to the heart of man. There must be faith in the atoning work of Christ on the Cross and acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Outside Christ, *"all our righteousness is as filthy rags"* (Isaiah 64:6).

    *Question*

    Do you rely on your good works and self righteousness for salvation?

    *2. Angelic Facilitators of the Gospel*

    a. When Phillip, the evangelist, first got a gentile converted, it took the ministry of an angel. The same to Apostle Peter and the conversion of the Cornelius and his family. The conversion of Cornelius was more celebrated and noticed by the Early Church because, unlike the Eunuch of Ethiopia, Cornelius was not only saved, his whole family was included and they also received the baptism with the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in unlearned and unknown language. None of these two ministers would have reached out to those Gentiles without the ministry of the angels because of their biases against Gentiles when it came to salvation of souls. Cornelius *"saw in a vision evidently...an angel of God coming"*. The angel called him by name and assured him that his prayers and charitable deeds had come before God as a memorial. Sinners who are sincere with God will always be given the opportunity to know the truth unto salvation. This throws a challenge to Christians to be sensitive to God as to who and when to reach out to a soul. This divine visitation demonstrates that heaven was actively working to bring Cornelius into contact with the Gospel. God was more eager to get him saved than anybody else including Apostle Peter. He is *"not willing that any should perish"*.
    b. God can employ extraordinary means to advance His saving purpose. Angels may facilitate God's work, but they do not replace the preaching of the Gospel. The angel did not preach Christ to Cornelius; instead, he directed Cornelius to send for Apostle Peter. God uses heavenly and earthly instruments together to accomplish His redemptive purposes. The divine-human partnertship are needed to effect the work of God and in particular the preaching of the gospel. Believers therefore, must be prayerful and sensitive to divine guidance in order to be fruitful. The less we rely on the arms of the flesh and the more we put our full confidence and trust in the guidance of the power of the Holy Spirit, the more fruitful we will be in the work of soulwinning.

    *Question*

    Am I available for God to use me as an instrument through whom someone else may hear and receive the Gospel? Do I wait on God to receive divine guidance in soulwinning?

    *3. Assignment Towards Gospel Fullness*

    Cornelius' salvation is rooted in his obedience to the voice of God and not the voice of any other. He was not only saved, but was baptized with the Holy Spirit. It must be observed that apart from the fact that Phillip did not publish the conversion of the Eunuch, he did not minister the baptism with the Holy Ghost to him. Cornelius and his household were baptized with the Holy Spirit while Apostle Peter was still preaching.There was an uproar and noise that the Gentiles could get the same experience of power of the Holy Spirit. The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit and the devils hate the power of the Holy Spirit too for obvious reasons. Salvation in Christ Jesus is a complete salvation. However, salvation without the power of the Holy Spirit is insufficient for a believer to do great exploits for God and be a terror to the kingdom of darkness. The Holy Spirit is given to them that obey Him. *"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him"* (Acts 5:32). Cornelius did not delay, debate or disregard the divine instruction. His obedience became an important link in God's plan to bring the fullness of the Gospel to his household.
    This reminds us that divine instructions demand human cooperation. God may open doors, prepare hearts and arrange circumstances, but believers must respond obediently.

    *Question*

    What Gospel assignment has God placed before me and am I faithfully obeying Him without delay like Cornelius and Apostle Peter did?

    *Prayer Points*

    1.Lord, teach me more never to rely on my personal goodness and righteousness for divine favour and salvation .
    2.Father, make me a willing instrument through whom You can facilitate the spread of the Gospel to others. Help me to be sensitive to divine guidance .
    3.Lord, I ask for more power of the Holy Spirit for more fruitfulness in the preaching of the gospel .
    4.Father, give understanding to the church goers (you can mention names) who are not yet saved because they are trusting their self righteousness and good works and help them to get real and genuine salvation in Christ.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

    Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. ⏤ 1 John 3:1

    We are all missionaries. Wherever we go we either bring people nearer to Christ or we repel them from Christ. ⏤ Eric Liddell

    O God, we are grateful that we are Your children. We are not just Your creations. You made the stars, the birds, and the flowers, but unlike them, You made us in Your own image and gave us immortal souls. We thank You for the special place we hold in creation. Help us to live up to the dignity of being Your children and to live as Your children should.

    You created us with a purpose. You have a plan for each of our lives—something You intend for us to be and to do. We want to fulfill Your purpose for us. Help us to accept Your will and to do what You would have us do. As we go out into the world this morning, guide us in the path You have set for us. We want to serve our generation. Show us what You would have us do and enable us to do it.

    Fill our hearts with Your love so that we may see the world as You see it. May we look upon others with Your compassion, patience, and a desire to help. Though our efforts may seem small in this vast world, help us to trust that no true work done for You is ever in vain. Help us to make our little corner of the world holier, brighter, sweeter, and happier. Help us to live out Your life in the place You have assigned us, serving those around us. In this way, we shall be a blessing to our small part of the world.

    Give us a day filled with Your love and grace, our Father. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

    Good morning, brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. MD.i. 😀💝🌺🎁🌹🎀 MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY MONDAY AUGUST 10, 2O26. "WORKING IN THE KINGDOM (1)" ‘…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. Mark10:43 NIV DISNEYLAND IS referred to as ‘the Magic Kingdom.’ For those who work there, one value is emphasised above all others. It’s what puts the ‘magic’ into that kingdom. What is it? Servanthood! Employees are told that when you walk through those gates, you serve. You treat every encounter with people as if they were your personal guest. If they need directions, you escort them. If they ask a question you’ve heard a hundred times, you answer it as if you’d never heard it before. There’s a ride called the Jungle Cruise, and the most common question asked about it is, ‘How long is this ride?’ So the staff is given a prepared, standard answer: ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ But one employee had been asked it once too often, so when a couple asked, ‘How long is the Jungle Cruise?’ he said, ‘Three days.’ The couple got out of the line, left the park, went back to Disney Hotel where they were on their honeymoon, packed up their suitcases, checked out, and came back to the line at the Jungle Cruise. The next day the Disneyland employee was gone, and someone else was standing at the line saying, ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ When you represent God’s kingdom you’re supposed to go out of your way to facilitate people, love them and meet their needs. Why? Because Jesus, Who is the king in this kingdom, said, ‘…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…’ (Matthew 20:28 NIV). It definitely was a pivotal moment in Wugman's life.* *Not everyone reading this today has a bottle floating out there with a million-dollar inheritance, no. Knowing that that wasn't enough, he was directed to invite Apostle Peter to expound to him the gospel requirements for salvation more perfectly.* *The text highlights the significance of understanding Cornelius's character as the key to his esteemed relationship with God, which transcended his position as a centurion. Despite his military rank and prestige, Cornelius's true legacy lay in his love for the Lord and his generosity. His devout lifestyle inspired others, yet it was emphasised that neither good deeds nor religious piety can secure salvation; faith in the Gospel is essential. The angel's visit to Cornelius was not intended to preach the Gospel, as it is divinely decreed that those who have experienced salvation share the Gospel message, underscoring that salvation is a matter of grace through faith, not works.* *The main lesson here is the need to impact the world with our resources. We are remembered for what we do for others. God has left a far more valuable treasure for us than whatever was promised by Mr. Singer in our introduction. God wants to use us to tell other people about this treasure. We need to urgently preach Christ to our neighbours. Kennedy said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." This means our gratitude to God for the good things He has done for us must not be a mere lip service but from the bottom of our hearts.* *Attitude of appreciation solidifies the miracles or breakthroughs we receive from the Lord. The Christian, who was not ready to engage in any argument, quietly left the barber's shop after the haircut. As he was going, he saw a man with an unkept and untidy hair. He therefore turned back to the barber's shop and said to him, *"You know what? Barbers do not exist." And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: 6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. 7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; 8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa *Timeless Truth:*_"But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God"_ (Acts 5:39). *INTRODUCTION* There is no way of worshipping God that has faced so much oppositions from both powers and peoples as the gospel of Jesus Christ. *1. Ardent and Faithful to God* a. • Not every prophet carries a message.

    Some carry a weight.

    A holy heaviness that settles upon the soul without asking permission.

    They cannot explain it.

    Only bear it.

    The world calls it sadness.

    Heaven calls it the burden of the Lord.

    Before Jeremiah spoke with fire,

    Before Ezekiel prophesied,

    The Nabi does not merely hear God's voice.

    He feels God's heart.

    He loses sleep because heaven is awake.

    The burden comes before the word.

  • HOW TO KNOW GOD'S WILL FOR IMPORTANT DECISIONS IN YOUR LIFE. Part 1 of 6.
    God’s Basic Will for Every Christian.
    "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" (Eph. 5:17).
    How does God make known His will to us? He revealed His will to Joseph in dreams, warning him to take Mary into Egypt with the child Jesus; and again, after the death of Herod, God instructed him in another dream to return to Palestine. He spoke directly to Samuel during the night, and to Moses from a burning bush, imparting to them revelation concerning His will and purpose. God revealed His plan for the redemption of the Gentiles in a vision to Peter, and sent an angelic messenger from heaven to Zechariah announcing the birth of John the Baptist
    who was to be the forerunner of Christ. In answer to the prayers of the Church at Antioch, the Holy Spirit made known God's will concerning the apostolic ministry of Paul and Barnabas (Acts13), while He confirmed His purpose to Gideon through the use of a fleece. He continually imparted, both to Israel and the Church, revelation of His will and purpose through His anointed prophets. Also the Scriptures themselves, as seen for example in Paul's epistles to the churches, were intended as a divinely inspired revelation of God's will for the believer.

    In these and other ways, God has unfolded His will and purpose in the past, and continues to the present time. God has a plan for the life of every believer; and it is His desire, by one method or another, to reveal His will to you. The Christian may be assured that there is no need to stumble through life bewildered and confused, imploring heaven for divine guidance, as if God must be persuaded to give us help and direction. On the contrary, the Scriptures not only declare over and over God's willingness to make known His will to us, but also tells us that He has provided the means whereby we may ascertain it. This will be unfolded in the following studies which set forth: God's basic will for every Christian, and how God makes known His will for specific decisions and needs.

    God's plan and purpose for your life did not begin the day you were born–it did not begin when you were saved–it did not begin at the time you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit– but the Scriptures declare that you were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, and have been called to fulfill His purpose in you (Rom. 8:28-30; Eph. 1:3-6). You will find that God many times has been working in the circumstances of your life months or years before He reveals some aspect of His purpose to you.

    The popular notion held by most Christians that God's plan for our lives does not begin until our conversion. That God, like man, is more or less at the mercy of our circumstances, in that He must wait until He learns what we are going to do, or not do, and then adjusts His plans accordingly, has absolutely no basis in Scripture. On the contrary, the Scriptures show that God already has a complete and perfect plan for every Christian's life, and that it does not fluctuate and change to conform to our notions and beliefs. Nor does He adjust it to fit our lives when we
    do not know His will for us, but He expects us to seek diligently to learn His will and do it. One basic cause for much of the sickness, worry, anxiety, frustration, and failure of the Christian life is directly related to his lack of knowledge concerning God's will for him, and, as a consequence, he finds himself compelled to live much of the time in a state of confusion, disharmony, and defeat.

    How then can we learn God's will and put an end to such frustration and failure in order to fulfill His plan and purpose for our lives? This will be made clear in the discussion which follows.

    STUDY 1
    God’s Basic Will for Every Christian.
    Basically, God's will for every believer is three-fold. While God's will and purpose for the individual Christian will vary, inasmuch as no two individuals are alike in their needs, spiritual
    maturity, understanding, obedience, or their function in the Body of Christ, nevertheless, His will is the same for every believer in three important areas. These are a vital and necessary part of the Christian experience, as well as in the fulfillment of God's will in our lives. Upon conversion, the believer is expected first of all to–

    1. Receive the Promise of the Spirit.
    And being assembled together with them, he commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which said he, you have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit... (Acts 1:4-5). The Apostle Paul admonishes us in Ephesians 5:17, saying, "Where-fore be not unwise, but understanding what the will of God is," he then informs us how this is to be accomplished, saying, "be filled with the Spirit" (5:18). In John 14:26, Jesus declares that when the Holy Spirit comes to the believer that "He will teach them in all things." Therefore, a Christian who has rejected the experience of the baptism in the Holy Spirit as valid for today, to pray for God to reveal His will for his life, or to ask for divine wisdom in order to make an important decision, finds that, all too often, such prayers are ineffective.

    Does such an individual really expect that God should make an exception for him and reveal His will for his life, giving him divine wisdom and guidance when he has rejected the Holy Spirit, Whom God has sent for this express purpose? In large measure, the cause for much of their confusion, frustration, and failure, as well as the cause for much unanswered prayer, results
    from their inability to discern the will of God.

    It is a great blessing to know heaven's will for our lives, to be given divine guidance day to day, and have the wisdom we need to make important decisions – which is largely impossible without the infilling of the Spirit. The Christian without this experience spends much of his time out of the will of God, wandering aimlessly about, fearful and anxious, often wondering if he has made the correct decision about this or that matter. His life hindered and frustrated because of doubt and worry, which resulted from his ignorance concerning the will of God.

    Therefore, God's will for every Christian is, first of all, that he in faith receives the promise of the Father, experiencing Pentecost just as the first disciples. He is to be filled with the Spirit, in order that he will "not (be) unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" (Eph. 5:17-18). Being filled with the Spirit is equated with the baptism in the Spirit in the New Testament (e.g., Acts 1:4-5 with 2:4), which is to be received by asking for this experience in faith, (Luke 11:13). It will be accompanied by the sign of the baptism as one acts upon his faith and begins to speak in new tongues as the Spirit gives him utterance (Acts 2:4).

    Do you wish you knew the will of God for your life? Do you desire His guidance each day and want to put an end to your doubts, worries, and frustrations, which are due to your inability
    to discern His will concerning decisions you must make? Then ask for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, for God tells us that His Spirit has been sent to give you such understanding, concerning
    the will of the Lord (Eph. 5:17-18).

    After the believer has received the promise and experienced Pentecost, he is then called to -

    2) Go Back to Calvary.
    If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me (Mt. 16:24). God's basic will for every Christian after being filled with the Holy Spirit is, in the second place, to yield completely to the Spirit, "Who has come to bring the believer into conformity to the death of Christ (Gal. 2:20).

    Few Christians realize that after having received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit they still have not fulfilled God's ultimate will for their lives, nor attained His higher purpose. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is but the doorway to a deeper experience with God. It is God's call to live the crucified life.
    God in this hour is calling Spirit-filled believers to walk on a higher spiritual level then they have ever known before. He is calling them to yield themselves fully to Him and allow the Spirit to: bring them into a place of the crucifixion and death of self (Gal. 2:20; Phil. 3:10), so that the resurrection power of Christ may be manifested in and through them. The manifestation of the resurrection life and power of Christ, as the Apostle indicates in Philippians 3:10, comes through
    our conformity to the sufferings and death of Christ. The crucified life is the deeper life in the Spirit, which is God's higher purpose for the Christian. It is the Spirit-filled believer's growth
    "unto a full-grown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Eph. 4:13).

    The way into the fullness of Christ is the way of the cross. It means to take up the cross and follow Jesus. It is, in a word, the death of the self-life, for Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Failure to understand this is to fail to understand the purpose why God filled you with His Spirit and to frustrate God's will for your life. We are called to go to Calvary twice– the first time, in order to meet Jesus and partake of His life– the second time, in order to go with Jesus and partake of His sufferings and death (Mt. 16:24).

    The majority of those who are receiving the baptism in the Spirit today have little or no conception of this divine purpose and have not understood, or have misinterpreted, the nature of their calling. God's will for every Spirit-filled believer is for him to understand the purpose for which he has been filled with the Spirit, and to submit himself to it. This, as we have seen, is God's call to accept the crucified life to the end that we may experience the fullness of Christ (Eph. 3:19; 4:13), as preparatory for the restoration of all things now at the consummation of this age.

    Acceptance of the crucified life, by yielding ourselves to the Holy Spirit involves basically two things. To the extent we fail to understand them and submit ourselves to them, to that extent
    we frustrate God's end-time purpose for us. We will find ourselves moving outside the sphere of His will for our lives.

    (1) To accept the crucified life is to understand that the Biblical experience is not to "do" but to "die."
    It is not surprising that most Christians who have been spiritually dry and unfruitful for so many years prior to receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit interpret their experience, especially in the light of Jesus words in Acts 1:8, as a call to do more for God, Now that they have been empowered by the Holy Spirit, they look upon their baptism as the means by which they may increase their religious activities, or become a more efficient worker in the church, or more effectively promote the Kingdom of God. It often comes as a surprise, therefore, to learn
    that God has not called them to be anything or do anything for Him, but that He has called them to be crucified with Christ by submitting themselves completely to the Spirit's direction and control.

    "But I thought that Jesus teaches in John 15 that He has chosen us to go forth and bear fruit," exclaims an astonished Christian. This is true; but even before He said this, in John 12:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if
    it dies, it brings forth much fruit.

    The crucified life is not trying to "do" more for God after receiving the baptism of the Spirit; it is not merely praying more, giving out more tracts, reading the Bible more, witnessing more, or increasing our religious works. It is not activity–, it is surrender–it is being crucified with Christ. It is not Christ and us, but Christ in us, that will make our lives effective and produce the fruit. There is no such thing as living the crucified life without the death of "self" as in this way Christ may then live His life in us and fulfill His will through us (Gal. 2:20). Otherwise, all we are doing is perpetuating what we already have a man-made partnership with God, in which "self" is still on
    the throne, and the Holy Spirit is considered little more than the means by which we may empower our programs and promote our religious institutions, organizations, and ideas.

    Christians have been led to believe that church programs are sanctified and all religious work made acceptable to God merely because these things are consecrated to Him and done in Jesus' name. One of the most difficult lessons Christians must learn is that such a conception has no scriptural basis whatsoever, and that God does not call us to devise plans as to the most effective means by which we can get the world converted to Christ, or promote the work of the Kingdom with His help. His call is always a call to submit to the Spirit without reservation; it is a call to be crucified with Christ to the end that He may then be able to fulfill His will through us.

    One writer, whose ministry in the deeper things of the Spirit is well-known, relates her transforming experience in this regard. After some years of dedicated service to the Lord, the Spirit revealed to her in a very graphic manner just how worthless and unacceptable religious works are which are not produced by the Spirit through a fully yielded vessel, but which result merely from one's desire to serve the Lord and be involved in religious work.

    One morning she awoke and beheld before her a hand holding up a handful of filthy rags, when a voice spoke, saying, "This is the outcome of all your past service for God."
    "But Lord," she protested, "I have been surrendered and consecrated to You all these years, it was consecrated works" "Yes, My child," the Lord replied, "but all your service has been consecrated for yourself; the outcome of your own energy; your own plans for winning souls; your own devotion.. All for Me, but yourself all the same!"

    Then came the deeper revelation by the Spirit that God does not call us to do something for Him by our own efforts, but that we are called to submit to Him, so that He can then do something in us in order that He might then do something through us. We are called to pick up the cross and follow Jesus to Calvary and there be crucified with Him.

    From that hour she relates that she understood that it is in dying, not doing, that spiritual fruit is produced, for "except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit."

    The deep work of the Spirit in us, as we submit ourselves fully to Him, may be compared to a tree in the wintertime. In winter the tree stands barren and still. All evidence of life and beauty are gone. The tree's ability to provide shade is gone. There is no fruit to be seen. Death seems to have conquered it. But if we could see beneath the ground we would find that life still exists. Down beneath the surface it is doing a deep work–new roots are being formed, while old ones are growing stronger and pushing deeper into the earth, becoming more firmly rooted to enable the tree to withstand the trials and storms ahead. It is in the tree's apparent death–when it grows still and ceases all outward activity–that the deep work of God is taking place beneath the surface.

    And so it is in the deeper work of the Spirit in us; it is only as we submit ourselves in total surrender in Him and become still, ceasing from all religious commotion and fleshly activity, that He can perform His deeper work in our lives. It is only in this confinement on the cross that we can really learn to be still before God (Ps. 46:10), often stripped of our "leaves" and "fruit," with
    nothing really monumental happening in which we can boast, just hanging there–learning that bearing fruit is not in "doing," but in "dying"--patiently waiting upon the Lord to complete His work in us so that He can then do a work through us.

    (2) To accept the crucified life in the second place is to understand that the deeper experience is not God's call to work for Him, but to learn to move with Him.
    This means we must learn to move only at the Spirit's command and under His direction, as we see, for example, in the lives and ministry of the apostles and other saints (Acts 10:1f.; 13:1f.; 16:6-10, 14-15).

    God is preparing believers who will be so sensitive to the voice of His Spirit that they will immediately respond to His leading and obey without question or doubt. This is to be a spiritual army of specialists, thoroughly trained in spiritual warfare, completely emptied of self, joyfully submitted to the yoke of Jesus, fully equipped with the divine armour (Eph. 6), speaking with such authority that the very foundations of Hell will tremble at their voice, and able to pull down every stronghold of Satan by their faith alone.

    Soldiers in the United States Army are not called to work for the army, but to learn to work and move with it. No soldier takes it upon himself to devise his own plans for winning the war all by himself, or for campaigning on his own in behalf of his country. He doesn't say, "I'll take myself one of these big tanks with a big gun and go out and shoot a lot of holes in the enemy forces and win a lot of victories for the army to prove my devotion to my country." No. He doesn't move until the commander tells him to move, and even before he can do that he must undergo an extensive period of discipline and training in which he learns to deny himself, submit to authority, and become sensitive to the desires and commands of his superiors.

    Often when a man gets a degree from the seminary, he then feels this equips him to go out and build the Kingdom all by himself. "Now that I am thoroughly trained," he says, "I think I will start a church over here, or a mission over there, as I know God desires to see churches built and souls saved." But he is surprised when it does not always work out just that way. Disillusioned, he laments, "I just don't understand it. I know God wants to see His work prosper, but I've done all I know to do, and yet I've not been able to arouse much interest."

    A pastor who has knocked on all the doors in his community without much success, and now feels, since he has received the Spirit filled experience, that this was the missing element in his visitation program, and he is bewildered to find there is still as little response as before to his invitations to church, as he walks about the community still knocking on doors.

    In another church, the Spirit-filled pastor is disappointed to discover that he cannot use his experience to "pump" life into the old denominational program, having surmised that the only reason it did not prosper before was his lack of the Holy Spirit. He, just as the others mentioned, has failed to see that all he would be doing, if he were to succeed in his efforts, would be to perpetuate the old denominational practices and forms of religion of one kind or another, and that the Holy Spirit will not empower him to be a witness against Himself by promoting the programs and teachings at men.

    Failure is just as assured in the life of a Spirit-filled Christian as one without the experience, unless he learns that God is not pouring out His Spirit to empower him to get busy in some form of religious activity. He is not calling men and women today to work for Him, but to learn to move with Him. When we learn to move with the Spirit, then God will send this one and that one to us, or send us to one who is in need. We will find, moreover, that the Spirit has already been there ahead of us and prepared their hearts to receive our message or ministry. Edited. Shared.

    ❤️HOW TO KNOW GOD'S WILL FOR IMPORTANT DECISIONS IN YOUR LIFE. God revealed His plan for the redemption of the Gentiles in a vision to Peter, and sent an angelic messenger from heaven to Zechariah announcing the birth of John the Baptist who was to be the forerunner of Christ. How then can we learn God's will and put an end to such frustration and failure in order to fulfill His plan and purpose for our lives? This will be made clear in the discussion which follows. STUDY 1 God’s Basic Will for Every Christian. Basically, God's will for every believer is three-fold. Therefore, a Christian who has rejected the experience of the baptism in the Holy Spirit as valid for today, to pray for God to reveal His will for his life, or to ask for divine wisdom in order to make an important decision, finds that, all too often, such prayers are ineffective. Then ask for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, for God tells us that His Spirit has been sent to give you such understanding, concerning the will of the Lord (Eph. 5:17-18). After the believer has received the promise and experienced Pentecost, he is then called to - 2) Go Back to Calvary. 2:20). 46:10), often stripped of our "leaves" and "fruit," with nothing really monumental happening in which we can boast, just hanging there–learning that bearing fruit is not in "doing," but in "dying"--patiently waiting upon the Lord to complete His work in us so that He can then do a work through us. I know God wants to see His work prosper, but I've done all I know to do, and yet I've not been able to arouse much interest." A pastor who has knocked on all the doors in his community without much success, and now feels, since he has received the Spirit filled experience, that this was the missing element in his visitation program, and he is bewildered to find there is still as little response as before to his invitations to church, as he walks about the community still knocking on doors. Edited. Shared. To be Continued. ❤️ God willing, more will be posted soon. All glory to Jesus alone.

    THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE THREE BIRDS SENT OUT OF THE ARK BY NOAH

    Grace, apostolic authority, and the uncompromising fire of the Holy Ghost be multiplied to your spirit. As disciples of the Kingdom, we must recognize that the Holy Scriptures are not merely historical records; they are profound prophetic blueprints. Every detail, every animal, and every sequence is a calculated revelation of God’s dealings with the human soul.

    Today, the Spirit of God is unlocking the mystery of Genesis 8. As the floodwaters of judgment receded, Noah did not simply open the door and walk out. He tested the spiritual climate of the earth by releasing birds. This sequence—the raven, and the successive flights of the dove—is a surgical exposure of the battle between the flesh and the Spirit in your life. Prepare your heart, for this is an apostolic summons to absolute consecration.

    The First Release: The Raven and the Appetite of the Flesh

    "And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth." — Genesis 8:7

    Noah first released a raven. The scripture records that the raven flew "to and fro" and never returned to the safety of the ark. Why? Because the raven is a scavenger. It is an unclean bird that feeds on carrion—dead and decaying flesh. Even though the earth was completely destroyed and covered in the judgment of the flood, the raven was perfectly comfortable landing on the floating carcasses of the old world.

    The Prophetic Diagnosis: The raven represents your carnal nature—the unredeemed flesh. The flesh is perfectly at home in chaos. It feeds on the decaying matters of this world: gossip, bitterness, lust, and rebellion. When a believer is operating in the flesh, they do not crave the presence of God (the Ark); they are satisfied surviving on the dead things of their past. The raven requires no holiness to find rest. If your soul is not completely surrendered to Christ, the "raven" within you will always find a carcass to feed on.

    The Second Release: The Dove and the Standard of Holiness

    "Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated... But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth..." — Genesis 8:8-9

    Next, Noah released a dove. Unlike the raven, the dove is a clean bird. It cannot feed on dead meat, and it will not land on filth. Finding the earth still covered in the waters of judgment and death, the dove found no resting place and immediately returned to the Ark.

    The Prophetic Diagnosis: The dove is the ultimate biblical symbol of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16). Here is the terrifying truth of Christ Discipleship: The Holy Spirit will not tabernacle in a contaminated vessel. He refuses to share a resting place with your unjudged flesh. Many believers are begging for an outpouring of the Holy Ghost, but their lives are flooded with compromise, secret sin, and carnal entertainment. The Spirit of God will visit you, scan the landscape of your heart, and if He finds no pure, consecrated ground, He will withdraw. You cannot host the Dove while feeding the raven.

    The Third Release: The Olive Branch and Permanent Habitation

    "And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off... And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more." — Genesis 8:11-12

    Noah waited seven days and sent the dove again. This time, she returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf. The olive leaf is the biblical symbol of the anointing (oil), peace, and the undeniable proof of new life springing forth from the earth. Finally, on her last flight, the dove did not return. The earth was clean, and she had found her permanent habitation.

    The Prophetic Diagnosis: God does not just want to give you a temporary visitation; He is after a permanent habitation. When the floodwaters of repentance genuinely wash your soul, the old nature is buried. The Holy Spirit will bring the "olive branch" of His anointing and peace to confirm that new life has begun in you. But the ultimate goal of discipleship is that final release—where your mind, will, and emotions are so thoroughly cleansed and surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus that the Holy Spirit makes His permanent, uninterrupted dwelling inside of you.

    The Altar of Absolute Surrender

    The apostolic question you must answer today is this: Which bird is finding rest in your life? Are you accommodating the raven of the flesh, allowing it to feast on the dead things of the world? Or are you preparing a holy, consecrated resting place for the Dove of Heaven? It is time to starve the flesh and surrender entirely to the Spirit.

    Prophetic Decree and Prayer of Consecration

    "Father, in the supreme, consuming Name of Jesus Christ, I bring my soul to the altar of absolute surrender today. I repent for every area of my life where I have allowed the raven of my flesh to feed on the dead, carnal things of this world. I renounce compromise, hidden sin, and spiritual laziness. Lord, let the floodwaters of Your Holy Ghost wash my vessel clean! I desperately want to be a resting place for the Divine Dove. I surrender my mind, my will, and my habits to Your Lordship. Bring the olive branch of Your anointing into my life, and completely take over my existence until my flesh is dead and only Christ remains. Make me Your permanent habitation! In Jesus' matchless Name!"
