  • It is written, “Be holy, because I am holy.”
    1 Peter 1:16

    Thought Of The Day...
A wise person once said, “You live in the presence of God; act accordingly.” Those words capture the essence of God’s will: to be holy in everything we do. Unlike a life driven by endless do’s and don’ts, a holy life is both a gift and a goal.
The Bible tells us much about God’s holiness. The Bible praises God’s infinite holiness and celebrates his steadfast love and care, making clear that we owe the Lord all praise and honor. God’s holiness sets us apart from him and exposes our sin. But the Father has given us Jesus, his Son, to set us free from our guilt. God’s gift to us is a holiness we receive through faith in the Savior. Set apart by God for his service, we become “eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:14).
Our goal then becomes holiness, like that of our heavenly Father. God’s gift becomes our passion. The psalmist asks, “How can those who are young keep their way pure?” And God’s child willingly answers, “I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:9-11).
God’s great love invites us to live in his holy presence. We show our love by joyfully embracing a life lived before God’s face.
Is this the wisdom of your life?

    Prayer...
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your love and grace. We are in awe of your holiness and your perfect character. As we read in 1 Peter 1:16, you have called us to be holy, just as you are holy. Help us to understand this calling and to live it out every day.

Lord, you have set the standard for holiness and we ask for your guidance and strength to follow it diligently. May your Spirit dwell within us, convicting us of any unrighteousness and leading us towards a life that is pleasing to you.

Father, make your holiness our passion and purpose. May it be the driving force behind all our thoughts, words, and actions. Help us to faithfully imitate your character in all areas of our lives, whether it be at work, with our family, or in our communities.

We pray that through our pursuit of holiness, others may see your light shining through us and be drawn closer to you. Thank you for your constant presence and for the example of holiness that we see in Jesus Christ. In His powerful name, we pray, Amen.

  • John 6:48 I am the bread of life.

Today we explore what Jesus meant when He called Himself the bread of life. To fully understand this short Scripture, we need to continue reading. Read verses 48 through 51. “I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Bread of life is a metaphor describing how we can find true satisfaction and a full life in Jesus alone. Jesus calls Himself the bread of life in the first of His “I am” statements found only in the book of John. He compares the fulfillment and satisfaction He gives with the experience of the Israelites in the desert. After fleeing Egypt, God provided them with manna, but they only had temporary satisfaction from it. They had to gather new manna each day.

Just like the manna that came down from heaven, Jesus also came from heaven to meet a need in each of us. Our spiritual hunger is satisfied by “feasting “ on His Word and through a personal relationship with Him. And it is long lasting, eternal. It does not need to be done again each day. Our choice to follow Him, to accept Him as our Savior, satisfies our “hunger” once and for all. He became the bread that gives us new life, a life in Him as a new creation.

Is He YOUR bread? Taste and see that the Lord is good. Trust in Him to fully satisfy your spiritual hunger.
