“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 14:12 (also repeated in Proverbs 16:25, KJV)
Devotional Message: Walk in God’s Wisdom, Avoid Deception
Not every path that looks right is truly good. Human judgment is limited — we often make choices based on feelings, culture, or convenience. Without God’s guidance, what seems right may lead to destruction.
Notice that this warning is repeated in Scripture. When God repeats a truth, it emphasizes importance, urging us to pay attention and internalize His Word. Repetition strengthens our discernment, reminding us that God’s ways are the only safe paths to life.
Walking in God’s wisdom means surrendering our will, testing every decision against His Word, and following the Holy Spirit’s leading. True safety and life come not from what seems right to us, but from obeying what God says is right.
1. Trust God Above Your Understanding
Don’t rely on your own judgment — seek His guidance first.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5–6)
2. Pray for Daily Discernment
Ask God for wisdom to recognize deception and follow truth.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…” (James 1:5)
3. Test Every Path with Scripture
Let God’s Word be the standard for every choice.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
4. Follow the Spirit’s Guidance
The Spirit protects and directs us toward life.
“When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…” (John 16:13)
5. Stay Humble and Teachable
A humble heart is willing to be corrected and guided.
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (James 4:6)
