This passage encourages believers to live productive, truthful, and purposeful lives as taught in the scriptures. God desires fruitfulness, not wastefulness or sinful living. To be useful, you must shun lies, embrace the truth, and engage in honest work. Hard work brings rewards, growth, and opens doors of opportunity, keeping you from the grip of poverty, unfruitfulness, and shame. It is disheartening to see young people spending their time on social media, pursuing fruitless ventures, and missing numerous opportunities. Usefulness involves taking initiative, being creative, and serving both God and others with diligence and integrity. ED.ii. WHAT WAS I BORN FOR? "'You are a king, then!' said Pilate. Jesus answered: 'You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.'" - John 18:37 Jesus knew what He was born for. There are many people who do not know why they are here on earth. I believe, however, that man was created quite uniquely. So how can you think we were put on earth without a purpose and just for fun? It is good to think about: What was I born for? Is this what God has for me? There is only One who can give you the right answer to that and it is God. He knows exactly why you were born. God's children save themselves from a lot of difficulties when they consult Him; God wants to speak as well as answer them. The purpose of our existence God did not create us to only build a life here on earth and then die. No, God created mankind to eventually go to heaven to be with Him forever. That is the main reason why He created us. However, that is not God's only purpose. On earth we are on our way to our ultimate goal and while we are here, we must consult the Lord: 'Lord, what do You want me to do? What is the earthly purpose for which You want to use me?' Go and consult God about the earthly job you should practice and what you can do for Him, so you will know: This is the reason why I was born! Find ways to bless others. Make yourself available to people who need comfort and support. 'Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me' (Matthew 25:40). Give us the grace to let go of the past and press on toward the goal of our high calling. Help us to cast aside every weight and the sins that so easily trip us up, and to run with endurance the race set before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. This world pulls us back, holding us from aspiring heavenward. May we have the strength to resist these earthly temptations and instead be drawn toward the blessings of a heavenly life. Help us to live more and more for the things that are unseen and eternal. Earthly things, though sweet and beautiful, are temporary—like flowers that are fragrant today but wilted tomorrow. May these fleeting blessings remind us of You and turn our thoughts to You. Let us not rest in these temporary joys or build our hopes on them. Instead, teach us to rest in You and build our hopes on the enduring rock of Your eternity. Then, no matter what earthly disaster or loss comes our way, we will be safe and secure in You, our unchanging God. As we step into the world today, fill our hearts with thoughts of Your love and grace. Go before us, lead us, and help us follow You wherever You guide. Give us wisdom to respond rightly in every situation. Grant us courage to face difficulties and overcome obstacles. And give us gentle hearts so we may be a blessing to others. Colossian 1:11 ESV* > “May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience wiColossiansThe Greek word there is _dunamis_ — it means God’s explosive, resurrection power. Same power that raised Jesus from the dead. What it actually means *1. It’s God’s power, not yours* “according to His glorious might” — You’re not being told to try harder. You’re being prayed for to be filled with _His_ strength. It’s like plugging into a power source bigger than you. *2. The purpose of the strength* Paul doesn’t say “so you can be rich” or “so life gets easy.” He says: *“for all endurance and patience with joy”* So God’s might is given to help you: - *Endure* — keep going through hard seasons without quitting - *Have patience* — with people, with waiting, with trials - *Do it with joy* — not bitter, not complaining *3. “All might” = enough for anything* It’s not a little boost It’s _all_ might. Whatever situation you’re facing — grief, temptation, hard work, sickness, ministry — God’s power is sufficient for that exact thing. How it works practically Ephesians 3:16 says the same thing: _“strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner man.”_ So it’s an inner strengthening. You might still be tired on the outside, but on the inside you get steadiness, peace, and the ability to not give up. *Analogy*: Like a phone battery. You can’t run on 2%. “Strengthened with all might” is God fast-charging your spirit so you can keep doing what He called you to do. Prayer from Colossians 1:9-Paul actually prayed this over the church. You can pray it for yourself: _“God, strengthen me with all Your power so I can endure this with patience and still have joy.”_

🌿 Mystical Gardens Tale 🌿 🪑 The Empty Chair Mary had friends, technically she wasn't alone. That was what she always told herself. She had people she could call. People who would answer a message. People she could talk to about the weather, the latest news, or something funny that had happened during the day. What she didn't have was someone to do things with. She wasn't completely alone, but there was a difference between having people she could talk to and having a companion to spend time with. Mary knew there was a difference. She knew it every evening when she came home. She knew it when she made dinner and automatically put two plates on the counter before realizing there was only one person eating. She knew it when something funny happened on television and she turned toward the other side of the couch to share the joke, only to find an empty cushion. She knew it when she poured herself a glass of tea and, without thinking, reached for another glass. Then stopped. There was no one to pour it for. One evening, Mary sat on the couch with her dinner untouched beside her. The television was playing, but she wasn't watching it. Her eyes kept drifting toward the empty chair across the room. It wasn't anything special. Just an old chair with a cushion that had lost some of its shape, but tonight, it seemed to be extra empty. Mary stared at it for a long time. Then she whispered, “I wish somebody was here.” The words surprised her. She had spent years teaching herself not to say things like that. Whenever she admitted she was lonely, someone would remind her that she already had friends. Whenever she said she wanted companionship, someone would tell her she needed to learn to be happy alone. Whenever she complained about having no one to do things with, someone would say, “You just have to get out there.” Mary knew they meant well, but sometimes she wanted more than advice. She wanted someone to sit beside her. Someone to go places with. Someone to call and say, “Want to grab a coffee?” Someone who would watch a terrible movie with her and laugh at how terrible it was. Someone who would notice when she was quiet. Someone who didn't have to be invited because they were already there. Mary leaned back against the couch. “I don't want to be needy,” she whispered. The room offered no answer. The loneliness tightened around her heart. The loneliness engulfed her and tears formed in her eyes. Mary closed her eyes, curled into a fetal ball, and allowed herself to cry. When she opened them again, she wasn't in her living room. She was sitting in a beautiful garden beneath a giant tree. The mystical garden stretched around her in the soft evening light. Flowers moved gently in a breeze she couldn't feel. Somewhere nearby, water trickled over smooth stones. Mary didn't know how she had gotten there, but she wasn't frightened. She had been to this garden before. Some people claimed it was magical. She looked up at the giant tree. “You know why I'm here, don't you?” The leaves rustled. Mary smiled sadly. “I'm so lonely.” The tree remained silent. Mary pulled her knees toward herself. “I know what everyone says. I know I do have people in my life. I do have friends. I know I should be grateful. I really am grateful.” She swallowed. “But I want someone...” The words finally came out. “I want someone to share my life with.” A breeze moved through the branches. Mary looked up. “Can you help me?” The tree did not answer. Mary waited. “Can you find someone for me?” Still nothing. Her smile disappeared. “It's silly, but I thought that since I just appeared here, maybe you had some magic that could help me.” The branches swayed gently. Mary looked away. “Apparently not.” She stood and began walking through the garden. At first, she noticed all the companionship around her. She saw two birds that sat together on a branch. A pair of rabbits chased one another through the flowers. A butterfly rested on another butterfly's wings. Even the bees seemed to have somewhere to go and someone waiting for them. Mary stopped beside the pond. “Even the animals have someone.” Her voice cracked. “And I don't.” She sat beside the water. For a long time, she didn't notice anything different. Then something strange began. The garden seemed to change. Mary watched as a bee landed on a flower. The flower gave it the nectar that it searched for. A bird flew down to the pond where it found a worm in the soft soil and water to quench is thirst. A fruit fell from one of the branches and disappeared into the soil where the seed would grow. Mary watched quietly. She finally began to understand. The garden wasn't showing her perfect lives. This wasn't exactly the companionship she longed for. What it was showing her was a different kind of companionship. It showed her the connections that are made in all life. Little ones. Simple ones. Necessary ones. Then its leaves shimmered and Mary heard a whisper in her heart. "You are not wrong for wanting companionship.'' Mary's eyes filled with tears. People had told her it was good to be independent. They had told her to enjoy her own company. They had told her she didn't need anyone, but nobody had told her that wanting someone beside her wasn't a weakness. Mary rested her hand against the tree. “I don't want someone to rescue me.” The leaves rustled. “I just don't want to do everything alone. I just need a friend to do things with.” The tree remained silent, but somehow Mary understood. There was a difference between being incomplete and being lonely. She could be whole and still want someone to share some of the things in her life with. She could be grateful and still wish for a little companionship. She could love herself and still want someone sitting in the empty chair. Mary wiped her eyes. “Then why can't you find someone for me?” The tree's branches slowly moved toward the ground. One small branch pointed toward the garden gate. Mary frowned. “You want me to leave?” At first she was hurt, but then she understood. The garden couldn't choose another person's heart. It couldn't manufacture friendship. It couldn't make someone walk into her life. It couldn't promise that tomorrow she would meet the person she'd been waiting for. But it could give her somewhere to come back to when the loneliness became too heavy. It could remind her that loneliness wasn't proof that she was forgotten. Companionship had many different forms. Perhaps most importantly, it reminded her not to close her heart simply because she had been disappointed before. Mary stood. The tree's leaves shimmered. “I guess I just stopped trying.” She looked toward the garden gate. “Because every time I tried, I got hurt.” The garden grew very still. Mary took a deep breath. “Maybe I decided it was easier to do things alone, preferring to be lonely than to be hurt. That's not the same thing as being okay, is it?” The tree answered with a gentle shower of golden leaves. Mary laughed through her tears. “No,” she whispered. “It isn't.” When Mary returned home, the television was still playing. The empty chair was still there. Nothing about her house had changed. But Mary had. She looked at the chair. For years, she had thought the empty chair was proof that nobody was coming, no one wanted to be with her. Tonight, she saw it differently. It was simply an empty chair waiting to be filled. The next morning, Mary picked up her phone. She stared at the screen for several minutes. If she wanted a friend, she should make an effort. There was a woman she occasionally talked to. They had always talked easily, but Mary had never asked her to do anything outside their usual conversations. Her finger hovered over the call button. Then she pressed it. “Hi,” Mary said when the woman answered. “I was wondering…” She almost stopped. She fears that the woman would be too busy. That she would think Mary was being strange. But Mary continued. “Would you like to have coffee with me sometime?” There was a pause. Then came the answer. “I'd love to.” Mary smiled. It wasn't a miracle. It wasn't the end of her loneliness. It wasn't the person she had dreamed about finding for a relationship. It was simply coffee and the beginning of a new friendship. Sometimes the beginnings of any kind of relationship are very small. Sometimes they sound like: Would you like to come with me? Would you want to watch a movie? Do you want to get coffee? Would you like to sit here? Mary still visited the garden. She still had lonely evenings. There were still nights when she looked at the empty chair and wished someone were sitting in it, but now she wouldn't allow the loneliness to tightened around her heart. She knew she could ask for simple companionship when she felt lonely and she could always come here for comfort and peace. Wanting someone beside you does not make you weak. Being lonely does not mean you are forgotten. An empty chair is not a threat that no one will ever come. Sometimes… It is simply a chair waiting for a story that hasn't been written yet. Seed from the Garden “God setteth the solitary in families.” — Psalm 68:6 Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two people are better than one because they can help each other up. God sees the lonely places we don't always know how to explain. He doesn't shame us for wanting companionship. While He may not answer that longing in the way or timing we expect, we can trust that our loneliness does not mean we have been forgotten. His condition became an opportunity for Jesus to reveal the power and glory of God. The disciples asked whether his blindness was caused by his own sin or the sin of his parents. But Jesus redirected their attention from blame to purpose. «“Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” — John 9:3» Sometimes we focus so much on “Why did this happen?” that we fail to ask, “What can God do through this?” Jesus is still able to bring light into places where people see only darkness. 🔥 THREE TRUTHS FROM JOHN 9 1️⃣ JESUS CAN TURN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS INTO TESTIMONIES. 🙌🏽 The man had never seen. Humanly speaking, his condition seemed permanent. But one encounter with Jesus changed his story. What people may consider hopeless is never beyond the reach of Christ. Your present situation is not necessarily the final chapter of your life. God can still write a testimony. ✝️ 2️⃣ SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS IS GREATER THAN PHYSICAL BLINDNESS. 👁️❤️ The man received physical sight, but the religious leaders who could physically see were spiritually blind. They witnessed the miracle but refused to recognize Jesus. This teaches us that it is possible to have healthy physical eyes and yet have a heart that cannot see the truth. We need more than physical sight. We need spiritual eyes to recognize Christ, understand His Word and follow His ways. «“One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” — John 9:25» What a testimony! The man did not have an answer for every theological argument. He simply knew what Jesus had done for him. Your testimony is evidence of God's work in your life. 🔥 3️⃣ TRUE SIGHT LEADS US TO WORSHIP JESUS. 🙏🏽 When Jesus found the man after he had been rejected, Jesus revealed Himself to him. The man responded: «“Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” — John 9:38» This is the ultimate purpose of spiritual revelation. When God opens your eyes to who Jesus is, your response should be faith, surrender and worship. We do not seek miracles merely for the miracle. We seek Christ. We do not follow Jesus only because of what He can give us. We follow Him because He is Lord. 🌿 TODAY'S REFLECTION There are different kinds of blindness. Some people are blind to God's goodness. Some are blind to their own condition. Some are blind to the truth of God's Word. Some are blind to the opportunities God has placed before them. And some are blind to the presence of Jesus. Today, ask God: “Lord, open my eyes.” Open my eyes to see Your goodness. Open my eyes to see my weaknesses. Open my eyes to understand Your Word. Open my eyes to recognize Your direction. Open my eyes to see Jesus more clearly. Never allow familiarity, pride or unbelief to make you spiritually blind. The man in John 9 moved from blindness to sight, from rejection to acceptance, and from ignorance to worship. May that also be your testimony. I was blind, but now I see! 👁️🔥 🙏🏽 PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. Lord, open my spiritual eyes. Remove every blindness that prevents me from seeing You clearly and understanding Your Word. Help me to recognize Your presence even when circumstances are difficult. Where I have been confused, give me clarity. Where I have been spiritually blind, give me revelation. Where I have been discouraged, give me hope. Where I have been rejected, remind me that I am accepted in Christ. Let my life become a testimony of Your transforming power. May I never allow the opinions of people to make me deny what You have done in my life. Give me grace to believe, follow and worship Jesus faithfully. ✝️ THE GOSPEL FROM CALVARY 📅 Wednesday, 19th August, 2026 🍷 JESUS: THE MIRACLE WORKER AND TEMPLE OF GOD ✝️🔥 📜 TEXT: JOHN 2:1–25 📜 🔑📖 KEY VERSE: «“This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” — John 2:11 (KJV)» John 2 introduces us to two significant events in the ministry of Jesus: His first recorded miracle at Cana and His cleansing of the temple. These two events reveal something powerful about Jesus. He is not only able to change circumstances; He also desires to cleanse and transform lives. At Cana, Jesus turned water into wine. In the temple, Jesus confronted everything that had corrupted a place meant for worship. The message is clear: Jesus has power to transform what is empty, restore what is broken, and cleanse what has become polluted. 🔥✝️ 🔥 THREE LESSONS FROM JOHN 2 1️⃣ INVITE JESUS INTO YOUR SITUATION. 🕊️ At the wedding in Cana, the wine ran out. Mary brought the situation to Jesus. John 2:3 says: «“They have no wine.”» The situation appeared embarrassing and hopeless. But Jesus was present. Sometimes we focus so much on what is missing that we forget who is present. You may have a situation that seems impossible today. You may have run out of strength. You may have run out of resources. You may feel like your joy has disappeared. But if Jesus is present, there is still hope. ❤️‍🔥 Take your situation to Jesus. Don't only complain about it. Don't surrender to fear. Don't depend solely on human strength. Bring it to Christ. 🙏🏽 💧 2️⃣ JESUS CAN TRANSFORM THE ORDINARY INTO SOMETHING GLORIOUS. 🔥 Jesus instructed the servants to fill six waterpots with water. Then He performed the miracle. Water became wine. John 2:9 records the servants' astonishment at what had happened. This teaches us that Jesus can take ordinary things and use them for extraordinary purposes. Your life may look ordinary. Your resources may seem small. Your abilities may seem insignificant. But when you place them in the hands of Jesus, He can do something extraordinary. Never underestimate what God can do with a surrendered life. Your testimony can change. Your character can change. Your family can change. Your ministry can change. Your future can change. Jesus is still a transformer. 🔥 ❤️‍🔥 3️⃣ OBEDIENCE IS PART OF THE MIRACLE. 👣 The servants at Cana had a role to play. They had to fill the waterpots. They had to draw out the water. They had to obey the instructions of Jesus. They did not understand everything Jesus was doing, but they obeyed. Sometimes we want to see God's miracle while refusing to follow God's instructions. But faith and obedience belong together. When Jesus says forgive—obey. When Jesus says pray—obey. When Jesus says leave sin—obey. When Jesus says serve—obey. When Jesus says go—obey. You don't need to understand everything before you obey God. 🏛️ JESUS CLEANSES THE TEMPLE Later in John 2, Jesus entered the temple and found people buying and selling. The house of worship had become a marketplace. Jesus drove them out and declared: «“Make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.” — John 2:16» Jesus was deeply concerned about the holiness of God's house. This should challenge us as believers. Paul later teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we must ask: What have I allowed into my life that Jesus would want to remove? Are there attitudes that need to go? Is there bitterness that needs to go? Is there secret sin that needs to go? Are there relationships that are pulling you away from God? Are there habits that are damaging your spiritual life? 🧹 LET JESUS CLEAN YOUR TEMPLE Sometimes we ask Jesus to bless our lives while resisting His desire to cleanse our lives. We want His miracles but not His correction. We want His blessings but not His discipline. We want His presence but not His holiness. But Jesus does both: He transforms and He cleanses. Allow Him to examine your heart. Allow Him to remove what does not glorify Him. Allow Him to restore your spiritual altar. 🔥 DON'T TURN YOUR WORSHIP INTO A TRANSACTION The temple was designed for worship, but it had become a place of business. This warns us against treating God like a transaction. Don't serve God only because you want something. Don't pray only when you need something. Don't worship only when life is going well. Don't follow Christ only for blessings. Jesus deserves our worship because He is Lord. 👑✝️ 👑 JESUS KNOWS WHAT IS IN OUR HEARTS John 2:24–25 says that Jesus knew all people and knew what was in man. You may hide things from people, but nothing is hidden from Christ. He knows your thoughts. He knows your motives. He knows your struggles. He knows your secret battles. And yet He still calls you closer. Therefore, don't run from Jesus because of what He already knows. Run to Him for transformation. ❤️‍🔥 ✍🏽 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When Jesus enters your life, He does not only change your circumstances; He also cleanses your heart and transforms you into a vessel for His glory. 🔥✝️ 🙏🏽 PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for revealing the power and glory of Jesus Christ through His Word. Lord Jesus, come into every area of my life. Transform what needs to be transformed and restore what has been broken. Teach me to trust You even when I do not understand Your ways. Give me grace to obey Your Word completely. Cleanse my heart from every attitude, habit, desire, relationship, and sin that does not glorify You. Make my life a holy temple where Your presence is welcomed and Your name is honored. Help me never to treat my relationship with You as a transaction. As the gospel spread, many people turned away from sinful practices and publicly demonstrated their repentance by destroying items connected with their former way of life. Their transformed lives became evidence of God's power at work. Luke concludes this section with a simple but powerful statement: "The word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed." Despite opposition, spiritual darkness, and resistance, nothing could stop God's truth from accomplishing His purpose. This verse reminds us that God's Word continues to transform lives today.
