READ WITH ME – DAY 14 Topic: King Josiah Was Eight Key Verse: "Josiah was eight years old when he became king... And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left." — 2 Kings 22:1–2 Today's Reflection Many people believe greatness begins in adulthood, but the life of King Josiah proves otherwise. At just eight years old, he became king of Judah, and instead of following the sinful examples around him, he chose to follow God. Josiah did not grow up in a godly environment. His father and grandfather had led the nation into idolatry, yet he refused to let his background determine his future. He made a personal decision to obey the Lord. As he grew older, his love for God became even more evident. He ordered the repair of the temple, and when God's Word was discovered and read to him, he humbled himself, repented, and led the nation back to God. Josiah's story reminds us that God is not looking for the oldest or the most experienced person. He is looking for hearts that are willing to obey Him. No matter your age or background, you can choose to stand for what is right and become a godly influence to others. Today's Takeaway: God is not looking for the oldest person in the room. He is looking for the heart that is willing to obey Him. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of King Josiah. Faced with pressure and threats, they boldly declared that obedience to God must come before obedience to human authority when the two are in conflict. Their response demonstrates unwavering commitment to God's truth. They understood that their highest allegiance belonged to the Lord. Even though obedience brought hardship, they chose faithfulness over comfort and courage over compromise. Believers today may face situations where following Christ is unpopular or difficult. While Scripture teaches respect for authority, our ultimate loyalty must always be to God. When His Word is clear, we must stand firm regardless of opposition.
