Jesus asked His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered for the 12: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to Peter in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Cf Matthew 16: 13 - 20).

In short, the modern clergy system is far removed from the thought of God. It puts the living, breathing organism of the church into an Old Testament straightjacket. Many are benevolent dictators. Some are spiritual tyrants with a Machiavellian quest for power who imprison and freeze the life of their congregations.

There is a powerful lesson here for every believer: faithfulness is more important than position, and character matters more than a title. We live in a world that encourages us to chase recognition, influence, platforms, and authority. But Scripture continually calls us back to something greater—faithfully serving God wherever He has planted us. Before seeking a bigger platform, be faithful with the one you already have. Before asking for more influence, steward the influence God has already given you. Before looking for recognition, ask whether your life is producing fruit. This is one of the great dangers facing Christianity today. Some people have become die-hard followers of personalities rather than disciples of Christ. If their leader is right, they defend him. If their leader is wrong, they defend him. If Scripture contradicts him, they defend him. If someone questions his teaching, they attack the person questioning him.
