TODAY'S MESSAGE
SERMON TOPIC:
REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF KIDNAPPING AND TERRORISM.
A Cry We Must Not Ignore
Every day, somewhere in our nation and around the world, innocent people wake up expecting a normal day, only to become victims of kidnapping, terrorism, violence, and fear.
Some are taken from their homes. Some are attacked on the road. Some families wait endlessly for the return of loved ones. Children become orphans. Mothers become widows. Communities are left traumatized.
As believers, we must not become comfortable with the pain around us. We must not allow repeated news reports to harden our hearts. God calls His people to remember the suffering, pray for the afflicted, and become instruments of hope.
Today, God is calling us to remember the victims of kidnapping and terrorism.
Key Bible Texts
Hebrews 13:3
> "Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
The writer reminds believers to identify with those who suffer. We are not to ignore them or forget them. Their pain should move our hearts toward prayer and action.
Psalm 34:18
> "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
God does not abandon the hurting. He draws near to them.
Isaiah 41:10
> "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God."
This promise remains true even in seasons of fear and uncertainty.
Proverbs 31:8-9
> "Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction."
God expects His people to speak for those whose voices have been silenced.
Point 1: God Sees Every Victim
Many victims feel forgotten.
Some are hidden in forests, camps, or unknown locations. Some families cry in silence because the world has moved on.
But God sees every tear.
Psalm 56:8
> "Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle."
Every tear matters to God.
The enemy may hide people from society, but nobody is hidden from God.
Spiritual Insight
The God who found Joseph in prison, Daniel in the lions' den, and Paul in chains can locate every victim wherever they may be.
Point 2: Compassion Is a Christian Responsibility
The Church is called to care.
We cannot say, "It does not concern me."
Galatians 6:2
> "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."
When one family mourns, the Body of Christ should mourn with them.
When one community suffers, believers should stand with them through prayer, encouragement, and practical support.
Spiritual Insight
Compassion is not merely feeling sorry for people. Compassion is love in action.
Point 3: Prayer Is a Weapon Against Darkness
Kidnapping and terrorism are not only security challenges; they are manifestations of evil.
The Church must engage in spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:12
> "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers..."
Prayer invites God's intervention where human strength fails.
Throughout Scripture, God answered the cries of His people when they called upon Him.
Spiritual Insight
When the Church prays, heaven moves. Prayer releases divine wisdom, protection, and intervention.
Point 4: God Calls Us to Be Agents of Hope
Victims need more than sympathy.
They need hope.
Matthew 5:14
> "Ye are the light of the world."
Believers must become carriers of God's comfort.
A phone call, a visit, financial assistance, counseling, encouragement, and advocacy can help restore broken lives.
Spiritual Insight
Darkness grows where light is absent. The Church must shine brighter in troubled times.
Point 5: Justice Belongs to God
Many victims ask, "Why do evil people seem to prosper?"
God assures us that evil will not reign forever.
Romans 12:19
> "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."
God is a God of justice.
Every act of wickedness has an appointed day of judgment.
Spiritual Insight
The apparent success of evil is temporary. God's justice is certain.
Biblical Case Study
The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:30-37
A man was attacked by robbers and left half dead.
Many people passed by and ignored him.
But the Good Samaritan stopped, cared for him, treated his wounds, and paid for his recovery.
Jesus used this story to teach that true faith responds to human suffering.
The Samaritan did not ask who caused the problem. He simply became part of the solution.
Likewise, God calls us to stand with victims of violence, terrorism, and kidnapping.
Practical Action Steps
1. Pray Consistently
Set aside time to pray for victims, families, security personnel, and national leaders.
2. Support Affected Families
Offer encouragement, material help, counseling, and emotional support.
3. Promote Peace
Refuse to spread hatred, violence, and divisive speech.
4. Advocate for Justice
Support efforts that protect vulnerable people and promote security.
5. Be a Messenger of Hope
Share God's promises with those who are hurting.
Questions for Reflection
1. Have I become insensitive to the suffering around me?
2. How often do I pray for victims of violence and insecurity?
3. What practical help can I offer to hurting families?
4. Am I contributing to peace in my community?
5. How can I become God's instrument of comfort and hope?
Prayer Points
1.
Father, comfort every victim of kidnapping, terrorism, and violence in Jesus' Name.
2.
Lord, rescue those currently held captive and bring them safely home.
3.
Father, heal the emotional, physical, and psychological wounds of survivors.
4.
Lord, strengthen grieving families and wipe away their tears.
5.
Father, protect our communities from every attack of the enemy.
6.
Lord, grant wisdom, courage, and integrity to security agencies and leaders.
7.
Father, expose every network of terrorism, banditry, and criminal activities.
8.
Lord, let Your peace reign in our nation and across the world.
9.
Father, raise the Church as a beacon of hope, compassion, and healing.
10.
Lord, let righteousness, justice, and peace prevail in our land.
Closing Call to Action
Church, let us not forget those who suffer.
Let us remember the captives, pray for the oppressed, comfort the grieving, support the wounded, and stand for peace and justice.
The measure of our faith is not only in the songs we sing or the sermons we hear, but also in how we respond to the pain of others.
May God give us hearts that care, hands that help, knees that pray, and voices that speak hope.
Remember the victims. Pray for the victims. Stand with the victims. And become part of God's answer to their cries.
Amen.
