  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    SUNDAY AUGUST 2, 2O26.
    "TAKE THE PLUNGE (2)"

    β€˜β€¦Underneath are the everlasting arms...’ Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV

    PICTURE THIS: A father and his two small children are playing. He’s in the swimming pool, and he invites them to run and jump into his arms. One does, the other doesn’t. The one who doesn’t, watches gleefully, applauds, and jumps up and down. But when her dad invites her to do the same she shakes her head and backs away. Is that you? Living on the edge of the pool, never taking the plunge, happy to experience life vicariously through others? Preferring to take no risk, rather than any risk? For fear of the worst, you never enjoy the best. You say, β€˜But I’m not sure what I’m jumping into!’ Read this: β€˜Underneath are the everlasting arms.’ Foolishness is closing your eyes and jumping before you know there’s even water in the pool, or that your father has said, β€˜Come, I’ll catch you.’ Faith is knowing that the only way to conquer your fear of the water is to take the leap, because the One who is calling you has been there for you from the moment you became His child. Nothing is more important to Him than your safety, the development of your faith, and your total success in life. God told Joshua, β€˜β€¦arise, go over this Jordan…to the land which I am giving Eunice Gankpe …Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go’ (Joshua 1:2, 7 NKJV). Note the words, β€˜Arise, go, be strong.’ In other words: take the plunge!

    *Humanity has witnessed incredible feats over the centuries, especially in the fields of science and technology. While these developments have improved the standard of living across the world, it has equally fuelled or, at most, reinforced atheistic and contemptuous dispositions of despisers of God. Some folks, indeed, think that God should completely stay away from the affairs of earthlings. They can boast of transgender surgery that changes sex identity at birth to something that God did not intend, all in an attempt to part ways with Him. Unknown to such warped minds, they are only trying to deform or alter what God has created. The effective way of parting ways with God would have been to create their own man or woman before meddling with their features, but not from the dust of the soil which He created. This is simply impossible!*

    *Our Lord Jesus Christ was unequivocal about man's grave inability to exist or function without Him. Just as man and his habitat could not have come into existence without Him, so we should always lean on Him, not only for sustenance, but also for survival. We live at the pleasure of God. Our breath comes from Him. Nature, through its atmosphere, land, vegetation, oceans, and rivers, from which we draw what we consume in food, manufacturing, and industry, belongs to Him. The feeble man is humiliatingly overwhelmed by his Creator.*

    *Thus helplessly exposed, man must not be arrogant or presumptuous because of any inventions, whose feats and contraptions are toys as they stand in contrast to the great galactic formations overlooking our planet. We must revere the One Who brought them forth. It's contemptuous to contemn Him by telling Him we have had enough of Him, and that we can take care of ourselves.*

    *Everyone needs God and His unfailing love and laws more than ever before to deliver them from the trap and deadly consequences of sin. We need more of Christ's presence to dominate our souls, government structures, homes, schools, public places, and worship centres. We need His peace in a troubled world on the brink of collapse. We need Him also to usher us into the hereafter of eternal joy.*

    *The burning bush symbolises the condition of the children of Israel in Egypt. God appeared to Moses miraculously to draw his attention to the suffering of His people in the hands of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.*

    *Moses turned aside to see the burning bush, and God spoke to him about the affliction of His people and sent him to deliver them from Egypt. Sinning youths are expected to turn to God for their salvation without delay.*

    ```Key Verse:``` _*"They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham" (John 8:39).*_
    Has someone ever told you that you resemble one of your parents? That can only happen if that person has known your parents before. However, that remark may only be true about your physical appearance, but not in your conduct.
    There are some children, of course, whose physical appearance and conduct are entirely different from those of their parents. That means, good and godly parents can produce bad and wicked children, like the case of Eli and his sons.
    Jesus knows who Abraham was (John 8:58). The Lord said He could not see any part of the character of the children of Israel that resembled that of Abraham they claimed to be their father. How could they claim to be children of Abraham who feared, obeyed and loved God, and yet go against the way and the will of God? Jesus concluded that they were children of the devil and not of Abraham (John 8:44).
    One's behaviour betrays him or her. No one can hate Christ, disobey His word, reject Him as Saviour and even want to kill Him, and claim to be a child of God. There are many people who use religion as a cover-up to hate and reject Christ. That is because they do not know the true God at all.
    *Are you one of those children who say they are children of God, friends of Jesus, but their behaviours are sinful and ungodly? It is only through your Christ-like and righteous life that others can know whether you are a true friend of Jesus or not.*
    *ABIDING IN CHRIST: THE SECRET OF A FRUITFUL LIFE*
    *TEXT:* JOHN 15:1–5
    1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
    2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
    3. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
    4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
    5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
    *TimelessTruth:*
    _Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord._ (1 Corinthians 15:58).
    *INTRODUCTION*
    George Washington Carver (1864–1943), the renowned agricultural scientist and devoted Christian, transformed farming in the southern United States by encouraging crop rotation and better soil management. He often spent time in prayer before beginning his research, believing that wisdom came from God. Carver once remarked, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour." One of the lessons farmers understand is that a branch separated from the vine cannot bear fruit, regardless of how healthy it once appeared. Its life depends entirely upon its connection to the vine. The branch does not struggle to produce fruit; it simply remains connected, and the life of the vine flows through it.
    Jesus used this familiar agricultural picture in John 15 to teach one of the greatest truths of the Christian life: fruitfulness is the result of abiding in Him. *"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.*
    ( Jeremiah 17:7–8)
    Our effectiveness in Christian living does not depend upon our talents, education or strength, but upon our continual fellowship with Christ.
    His followers, are not merely to admire the Vine, but to abide in it. The Christian life is not sustained by occasional moments of devotion, but by a continual relationship with Christ. The branch has no independent life. Its strength, nourishment and fruitfulness all come from the vine. Likewise, believers flourish only as they remain connected to Jesus through faith, obedience, prayer and His Word.
    This passage challenges us to examine our lives:
    Are we merely attached to Christ outwardly or are we truly abiding in Him?
    Are we busy with religious activity while neglecting personal fellowship with the Saviour?
    Is the fruit of the Spirit becoming increasingly evident in our character and conduct?
    God is more concerned with fruitfulness than mere busyness. A fruitful life glorifies Him, blesses others and bears lasting eternal value. When difficulties come, remember that the Father's pruning is not punishment, but preparation. He lovingly removes what hinders growth so that we may bear more fruit. May we daily abide in Christ, depend upon His strength and allow His life to be seen through ours.
    *1. The Source of Fruitfulness*
    a. Jesus identifies Himself as the True Vine and His Father as the Vinedresser.
    Jesus alone is the true source of spiritual life and lasting fruit. The Father lovingly removes unfruitful branches and prunes fruitful ones to increase their productivity.
    b. God's purpose is not merely that believers exist, but that they bear much fruit for His glory. God desires every believer to grow spiritually. His discipline and pruning are expressions of His love, preparing us for greater usefulness.
    *Questions*
    Am I allowing God to remove attitudes, habits or priorities that hinder my spiritual growth? Is my life producing spiritual fruit that brings glory to God?
    *2. The Secret of Fellowship*
    a. Jesus calls His disciples to remain in Him continually.
    The disciples had been made clean through Christ's teaching. Abiding is a daily, deliberate choice to remain in close fellowship with Christ.
    *Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving*
    (Colossians 4:2).
    b. Spiritual life flourishes through constant dependence upon Jesus. A fruitful Christian life is maintained by regular prayer, Bible study, worship and obedience.
    *Questions*
    What practical habits help me remain closely connected with Christ each day. Am I spending time with Christ consistently or only when difficulties arise?*
    *3. The Strength of Dependence*
    a.Jesus declares that apart from Him, believers can do nothing of eternal value. Every ability for effective Christian living comes from Christ.
    Apostle Paul declared: *β€œI can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)* Fruitfulness begins when believers surrender completely to Christ's leadership.
    b. Those who abide in Christ bear much fruit because His life flows through them.
    Lasting spiritual success is not achieved through self-effort, but through continual dependence upon Christ.
    *Questions*
    Am I relying on my own strength or on Christ's power in my daily life and ministry? Can others see evidence of Christ's life and character in me?
    *Prayer Points*
    1. Lord Jesus, help me to abide in You daily through prayer, obedience and Your Word.
    2. Father, produce in my life the fruit of the Holy Spirit that glorifies Your name.
    3. Lord, give me grace to accept Your loving discipline so that I may become more useful in Your service.
    4. Heavenly Father, keep me from relying on my own strength and teach me to depend entirely upon Christ.
    *Hymn:* I am Thine Oh Lord.
    *THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 4-5.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. ⏀ Psalm 118:24
    The soul needs Sabbath to rest and recharge. ⏀ Wesley L. Duewel
    O God, we thank You for this holy Sunday. It is Your day, honored and made sacred by You from the beginning. It was made even more holy by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is full of holy hopes as it reminds us of the eternal rest in Heaven. We thank You for all that this day means to us in our personal lives and for the blessings it has brought to our home. We thank You for its quiet rest, that we can cease from our weekday toil and spend the day with You.
    May You make this a day of real blessing to us. May Heaven’s windows be opened, and may holy blessings be poured upon us. Bless our home life today. May we grow closer together as a family. May our affection be sweetened. Fill our hearts with Your loveβ€”then we will love each other as we should. Bless our home conversation. May it be beneficial to us, ministering grace to our hearts, and may it be worthy of the day. Help us to shut out of our lives anything that is worldly or unworthy of You. May Your Spirit fill our home, bringing gentle, enriching influences.
    Bless our worship in Your house. Go with us and help us to honor You in the public services. Open our eyes to see wonderful things in Your word. Sanctify the worship and instruction we receive in the sanctuary. May we be so blessed in our hearts by waiting on You that we will be ready for good service all week.
    Help us also to be a blessing to others today. Fill us with Your Spirit so that every life that touches ours will receive a blessing from us.
    We ask all these Sunday blessings from Your hand, humbly, faithfully, and joyfully, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
That can only happen if that person has known your parents before. However, that remark may only be true about your physical appearance, but not in your conduct. There are some children, of course, whose physical appearance and conduct are entirely different from those of their parents. That means, good and godly parents can produce bad and wicked children, like the case of Eli and his sons. Jesus knows who Abraham was (John 8:58). The Lord said He could not see any part of the character of the children of Israel that resembled that of Abraham they claimed to be their father. How could they claim to be children of Abraham who feared, obeyed and loved God, and yet go against the way and the will of God? Jesus concluded that they were children of the devil and not of Abraham (John 8:44). One's behaviour betrays him or her. No one can hate Christ, disobey His word, reject Him as Saviour and even want to kill Him, and claim to be a child of God. There are many people who use religion as a cover-up to hate and reject Christ. That is because they do not know the true God at all. *Are you one of those children who say they are children of God, friends of Jesus, but their behaviours are sinful and ungodly? It is only through your Christ-like and righteous life that others can know whether you are a true friend of Jesus or not.* πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ ```πŸ…ΏοΈrayer:``` _*Lord, in all my desires and lifestyle, help me to be like You.*_ πŸ™πŸ½ ```πŸ“– Further Reading:``` *Titus 1:14-16* Children Unlike Their Father https://dailymanna.app// *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#SincereMilk2ndAugust2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS] [01/08, 8:46 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY β“‚ANNA* SUNDAY, 2ND AUGUST, 2026 *ABIDING IN CHRIST: THE SECRET OF A FRUITFUL LIFE* *TEXT:* JOHN 15:1–5 1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. *TimelessTruth:* _Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord._ (1 Corinthians 15:58). *INTRODUCTION* George Washington Carver (1864–1943), the renowned agricultural scientist and devoted Christian, transformed farming in the southern United States by encouraging crop rotation and better soil management. He often spent time in prayer before beginning his research, believing that wisdom came from God. Carver once remarked, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour." One of the lessons farmers understand is that a branch separated from the vine cannot bear fruit, regardless of how healthy it once appeared. Its life depends entirely upon its connection to the vine. The branch does not struggle to produce fruit; it simply remains connected, and the life of the vine flows through it. Jesus used this familiar agricultural picture in John 15 to teach one of the greatest truths of the Christian life: fruitfulness is the result of abiding in Him. *"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.* ( Jeremiah 17:7–8) Our effectiveness in Christian living does not depend upon our talents, education or strength, but upon our continual fellowship with Christ. His followers, are not merely to admire the Vine, but to abide in it. The Christian life is not sustained by occasional moments of devotion, but by a continual relationship with Christ. The branch has no independent life. Its strength, nourishment and fruitfulness all come from the vine. Likewise, believers flourish only as they remain connected to Jesus through faith, obedience, prayer and His Word. This passage challenges us to examine our lives: Are we merely attached to Christ outwardly or are we truly abiding in Him? Are we busy with religious activity while neglecting personal fellowship with the Saviour? Is the fruit of the Spirit becoming increasingly evident in our character and conduct? God is more concerned with fruitfulness than mere busyness. A fruitful life glorifies Him, blesses others and bears lasting eternal value. When difficulties come, remember that the Father's pruning is not punishment, but preparation. He lovingly removes what hinders growth so that we may bear more fruit. May we daily abide in Christ, depend upon His strength and allow His life to be seen through ours. *1. The Source of Fruitfulness* a. Jesus identifies Himself as the True Vine and His Father as the Vinedresser. Jesus alone is the true source of spiritual life and lasting fruit. The Father lovingly removes unfruitful branches and prunes fruitful ones to increase their productivity. b. God's purpose is not merely that believers exist, but that they bear much fruit for His glory. God desires every believer to grow spiritually. His discipline and pruning are expressions of His love, preparing us for greater usefulness. *Questions* Am I allowing God to remove attitudes, habits or priorities that hinder my spiritual growth? Is my life producing spiritual fruit that brings glory to God? *2. The Secret of Fellowship* a. Jesus calls His disciples to remain in Him continually. The disciples had been made clean through Christ's teaching. Abiding is a daily, deliberate choice to remain in close fellowship with Christ. *Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving* (Colossians 4:2). b. Spiritual life flourishes through constant dependence upon Jesus. A fruitful Christian life is maintained by regular prayer, Bible study, worship and obedience. *Questions* What practical habits help me remain closely connected with Christ each day. Am I spending time with Christ consistently or only when difficulties arise?* *3. The Strength of Dependence* a.Jesus declares that apart from Him, believers can do nothing of eternal value. Every ability for effective Christian living comes from Christ. Apostle Paul declared: *β€œI can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)* Fruitfulness begins when believers surrender completely to Christ's leadership. b. Those who abide in Christ bear much fruit because His life flows through them. Lasting spiritual success is not achieved through self-effort, but through continual dependence upon Christ. *Questions* Am I relying on my own strength or on Christ's power in my daily life and ministry? Can others see evidence of Christ's life and character in me? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord Jesus, help me to abide in You daily through prayer, obedience and Your Word.πŸ™ 2. Father, produce in my life the fruit of the Holy Spirit that glorifies Your name.πŸ™ 3. Lord, give me grace to accept Your loving discipline so that I may become more useful in Your service.πŸ™ 4. Heavenly Father, keep me from relying on my own strength and teach me to depend entirely upon Christ.πŸ™ *Hymn:* I am Thine Oh Lord. *THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 4-5. 2. Morning Prayer for today.     MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    FRIDAY JULY 17, 2026.
    "ARE YOU 'STEPHENβ€˜? (4)"
    '…Stephen, a man full of faith…’  Acts 6:5 NIV
    ANOTHER QUALITY that opened the door to leadership in the church for Stephen was: faith. Oswald Chambers said, β€˜Faith that is sure of God is the only kind of faith there is.’ When drought hit some farming communities, faith made a little girl take her umbrella to a prayer meeting called especially to pray for rain, while all the grown-ups wore sunglasses. Faith isn’t just what you say, it’s what you do. And it’s not just about what you can do, but what you can trust God to do. When it comes to faith, you must: 1) feed your faith. The Bible is faith food. β€˜β€¦Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God’ (Romans 10:17). Note the word β€˜hearing’. When you read God’s Word out loud, it enters your spirit through both the eye-gate and ear-gate, doubling its impact. 2) protect your faith. When terrorists attack, they have more in mind than just blowing up a few buildings and killing some people. Their goal is to strike fear into your heart and cause you to capitulate. Jesus warned Peter that his faith was about to come under attack (Luke 22:31-32 NKJV). It’s not just your finances or your health or your relationships that are under attack; it’s your faith! 3) Use your faith. Faith is like money; it’s the currency of God’s kingdom. You must have it in order to do business with God. When Christ encountered someone who demonstrated real faith, He was ecstatic. And He always responded to them. So you must β€˜exercise’ your faith daily until it becomes your β€˜reflex action’ in any given situation.
    *OUR PEACE OFFERING* πŸ«΅πŸ½πŸ½β€πŸ½β€πŸ½πŸ½β€πŸ½
    ```TEXT:LEVITICUS 3:10-13```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the LORD" (LEVITICUS 3:10, 11).*_
    *The Hebrew word for "peace" _shalom,_ represents wholeness and right relationship with God, others, and creation. The peace offering, as a voluntary offering, signifies restored relationship with God. This type of offering is indicative of a voluntary expression of faith, thanksgiving, and gratitude.*
    *Our passage today pertains to the detailed instructions given for the peace offerings. These offerings were important for maintaining a harmonious relationship between an individual and God. Specifically, the passage outlines which parts of the animal are to be removed and offered to the Lord. It also gives us the role of the priests in the exercise. The kidneys and the fat signify the best portions of the sacrifice, which were to be dedicated to God. This act of offering the choicest parts is a form of worship and reverence, recognising God's supreme authority and generosity.*
    *From that context, it is clear that such offerings were to be made accurately and respectfully. The focal point of burning these parts was to create a "sweet savour unto the LORD," signifying that the offering was pleasing and acceptable to Him. The prescribed portions for the peace offerings highlight the significance of giving God the best, demonstrating the importance of sacrifice, and dedication in worship.*
    *However while the Old Testament gives us the details of how to make acceptable blood sacrifices, Jesus Christ, in the New Testament, offered up Himself as the Lamb of God who took away our sins on the cross at Calvary. "For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us" (Ephesians 2:14). With Jesus as our peace, we need not kill any animal to make peace for our iniquities, but only embrace Him wholeheartedly. Praise the Lord.*
    ``` MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 TIMOTHY 4:12).*_

    *To remain spiritually relevant is very important. Having been born again and backsliding eventually is a sad commentary. Most saints of old served God well and finished strong. Joshua, for example, was a young man who served God under Moses. He was hard working and faithful.*

    *When Moses died, leadership responsibility was transferred to him, he served Israel well till he died at the age of 110. On his leadership impact, the Bible records this about him: "And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua..." (Joshua 24:31).*

    *Joshua was spiritually relevant from his youth to old age and even after death. Being spiritually relevant is not about being popular in the Church. It means to be committed to God, and living an impactful life for His kingdom.*

    *Beloved, maintain your spiritual experiences. Also, be devoted to God by having regular and meaningful quiet time, evangelising and reading, meditating and applying the word of God in your life. Moreover, maintain regular fellowship with the believers (Acts 2:42).*

    ```Key Verse:``` _*"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death" (2 Corinthians 7:10).*_
    Margaret, with a tone of regret, called her friend and said, *"If only I had done what I knew was right. If only I had listened to my parents..."* Continuing, she said, *"I wish I could go back and change some decisions I took."*
    She thought about the sinful actions and choices she had made. She regretted not following the advice of her godly parents and living by God's word. Regret is a feeling of sadness about a wrong action or about a mistake made. It is a wish that things could have been different and better.
    Nobody loves the feeling of regret, which many times is avoidable. Regret can come from missed opportunities. It might also arise from poor performance because of poor preparation. Regrets can arise from the pain of disobedience or from bad choices made.
    *The most painful regret everyone must avoid is missing heaven. Surrender your heart totally to Jesus Christ. Achan, Judas Iscariot and Herod probably wished they had made different choices. Avoid eternal pain and regret. Choose to obey God and His word even if you are the only one.*
    *BRINGING CHRIST'S PEACE TO OUR RELATIONSHIPS*
    *TEXT:* LEVITICUS 3:10-13.
    11Β And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto theΒ LORD.
    12Β And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before theΒ LORD.
    13Β And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.
    *Timeless Truth:*_"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us"_ (Ephesians 2:14).
    *INTRODUCTION*
    The world, with all its beauty and splendour, will not be a worthy place to live in when peace is absent. The same with families, communities and individuals. Where there is no peace, the world will not even be as habitable as the animal kingdom. A relationship that is void of peace will produce bitterness and wormwood rather than joy or happiness. Peace is multidimensional starting with an individual person's peace which is the most important and the first thing Jesus gives those who come to Him. Then there is peace between man and God which goes simultaneously with true personal and individual peace. Lastly, we talk of peace between fellow human beings. This is the main reason why Jesus, the Prince of peace, came to pay the ultimate price to reconcile man with God. This subject is therefore, very important to God and must be important to anyone that desires to walk with God and work for God. The text gives us some valuable information on this all important subject of peace.
    *1. The Price of Peace*
    a. The price of peace is not cheap as we could notice from what must be sacrificed in the peace offerings offered to God. Anyone who desires to enjoy peace on a platter of gold may be living in the fool's paradise. There is a price to pay. The two kidneys and the fat must be removed from the animal sacrifice and burn as an offering to God on the altar while the remaining animal can be eaten as they wanted. *"And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away"*. Kidneys are vital organs in the body. When the kidneys are defective or dead, the person is as good as dead. This vital organ is what God demanded for Himself as His own portion of the peace offerings. The fat of the animal gives aroma to the meat and makes it pleasant to eat. Fat is one of the most precious parts of the animal. It is the energy repository of the animal. It is instructive enough that God also reserved the fat to Himself, indirectly showing that consuming too much of fat is not good for human health as shown by modern scientific discovery. *"And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto theΒ LORD"*. The kidneys and the fat were burnt for God while the remaining belong to man.
    b. God demands the best for Himself just as the kidneys and the fat are vital parts of the animal. Man, with due respect to God, must give God the best time or hours for fellowship with Him and for devotion with God. The best of man is the heart and so the heart should be given to God. Just as God asked for the kidneys, God is asking man, *"give me your heart"*. The best of man's possessions and treasures should be given to God. Just like the popular hymn says, *"Give of Your Best to the Master".*
    *Question*
    Do you give of your best to the Master in every area?
    *2. The Personification of Peace*
    a. Jesus is our peace offerings and that is the best the Father can give to us. God sacrificed His only begotten Son for the world that is totally void of true peace. Jesus offered Himself to the Lord for our peace. *"And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before theΒ LORD"*. We also must be willing to offer our best that is possible and available for peace.
    *"For he (Jesus) is our peace (offerings), who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us"*. The wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles was broken down by Christ so that there would not be enmity between the Jews and the Gentiles any longer. Also, the enmity between God and sinners has been destroyed by the offering up of the living body of Christ. The sinful man can now repent and come into direct fellowship with God. *"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace"*. This peace offering of Christ makes reconciliation with God an experiential reality. *"And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby"*. Jesus did not only yield His precious body as an offering for sin, His messages are centred on peace. *"And came and preached peace to you..."* (Ephesians 2:14-17).
    b. Though the sacrifice is already done by Christ, man has his own part to play. The sinful man, through the priest, must *"lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about"*. The sinner must identify with the sacrifice for the transaction of peace to be perfected and effectual. In order to enjoy the peace of God, the sinner must identify with the sacrifice of Christ by accepting it by faith and petition His blood to produce peace in the heart and peace with God.
    *Question*
    Have you identified with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by faith in Him?
    *3. The Pathway to Peace*
    a. The peace that God first gives is the peace with God which simultaneously results in the release of peace of Christ in the heart. Without peace of Christ in the heart, all other types of peace become elusive. *"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"*. The offended God forgives our sins and becomes our loving Father after repentance from sin through faith in the atoning sacrifice of peace offering of Christ. All efforts of man to bring peace to the world, families and relationships without first experiencing the peace of Christ in the heart will not yield a lasting and enduring peace.
    b. Just as Jesus paid a heavy sacrifice for peace, believers in Christ must be willing to pay the price of humility, forgiveness, longsuffering and forbearance among others, so as to enjoy peace with our relations and neighbours. This peace must be pursued at all times because without it there is no heaven. It must also be preached and encouraged among people because *"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God"* (Matthew 5:9). It is the possession of peace and grace to make peace with others that distinguishes a true child of God as genuine. No price is too high for peace. The problem of the nations is that the nations are being ruled by people who have not experienced the peace of God in their hearts.
    *Prayer Points*
    1.Give praises to Jesus Christ for paying the ultimate price for our peace .
    2.Ask for the peace of God to reign supreme in your heart and to pay any scriptural and needful price to make peace with anyone that you are not at peace with you .
    3.Promise God that you will be committed to the ministry of making peace between sinner and God and fellow man to fellow man. Ask for the grace and the heart to always give your best to the Master .
    4.Pray for where you know that peace is lacking and that the peace of Christ will be embraced and allowed to reign .
    2. Morning Prayer for today.
    MP.i. Morning Prayer
    Rejoice in the Lord always: [and] again I say, Rejoice. ⏀ Philippians 4:4
    We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and bring its power down to earth. ⏀ Andrew Murray
    O God, our Father, we thank You for this bright morning. We want to share in the joy that’s all around us. All of Your creation praises You, and we want to join in that praiseβ€”not just with our lips, but with our hearts and lives. We want our lives to be like songs that bring joy to those around us. Help us live victoriously today, not letting our cares and trials get the best of us, but keeping Your praise in our hearts even in the darkest times and toughest challenges. Breathe Your Spirit into our souls this morning so that we can go out and live with cheerfulness all day. Don’t let the hard things discourage us or take the joy out of our hearts and the brightness out of our faces.
    We thank You that You’ve promised to give us what we need. We know that while You are always with us, You come even closer to us when we’re in trouble; that while You always give us strength, You give us even more when we’re feeling weak. Come to us today in exactly the way we need.
    Sometimes we get discouraged and frustrated. Keep us today from falling into these negative moods. Help us live among our neighbors in such a way that they see that we have God helping us. Keep us from worry and anxiety. Teach us to cast all our cares on Jesus, who cares for us. May we trust You so completely that no matter what happens, we can be happy and strong in You.
    We pray for everyone in our home. Prepare us for all the duties, tasks, and responsibilities of the day. Keep us safe from accidents and bring us back together again in the evening. We ask all these things, along with the forgiveness of our sins, in the Savior’s precious name. Amen.
    Good morning, brethren. The second post under Morning devotion every morning has 4 categories. Daily guides for Adult, Youth, Children, and Daily Manna devotionals. You can choose your group that suit you and use it. Thanks. 1. Morning devotion for today: MD.i. πŸ˜€πŸ’πŸŒΊπŸŽπŸŒΉπŸŽ€ MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY FRIDAY JULY 17, 2026. "ARE YOU 'STEPHENβ€˜? (4)" '…Stephen, a man full of faith…’  Acts 6:5 NIV ANOTHER QUALITY that opened the door to leadership in the church for Stephen was: faith. Oswald Chambers said, β€˜Faith that is sure of God is the only kind of faith there is.’ When drought hit some farming communities, faith made a little girl take her umbrella to a prayer meeting called especially to pray for rain, while all the grown-ups wore sunglasses. Faith isn’t just what you say, it’s what you do. And it’s not just about what you can do, but what you can trust God to do. When it comes to faith, you must: 1) feed your faith. The Bible is faith food. β€˜β€¦Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God’ (Romans 10:17). Note the word β€˜hearing’. When you read God’s Word out loud, it enters your spirit through both the eye-gate and ear-gate, doubling its impact. 2) protect your faith. When terrorists attack, they have more in mind than just blowing up a few buildings and killing some people. Their goal is to strike fear into your heart and cause you to capitulate. Jesus warned Peter that his faith was about to come under attack (Luke 22:31-32 NKJV). It’s not just your finances or your health or your relationships that are under attack; it’s your faith! 3) Use your faith. Faith is like money; it’s the currency of God’s kingdom. You must have it in order to do business with God. When Christ encountered someone who demonstrated real faith, He was ecstatic. And He always responded to them. So you must β€˜exercise’ your faith daily until it becomes your β€˜reflex action’ in any given situation. Bible In A Year: Acts18-19; Matt 10:11-20; Ps 146; Pr0 16:4-5. The peace offering, as a voluntary offering, signifies restored relationship with God. This type of offering is indicative of a voluntary expression of faith, thanksgiving, and gratitude.* *Our passage today pertains to the detailed instructions given for the peace offerings. These offerings were important for maintaining a harmonious relationship between an individual and God. Specifically, the passage outlines which parts of the animal are to be removed and offered to the Lord. It also gives us the role of the priests in the exercise. The kidneys and the fat signify the best portions of the sacrifice, which were to be dedicated to God. This act of offering the choicest parts is a form of worship and reverence, recognising God's supreme authority and generosity.* *From that context, it is clear that such offerings were to be made accurately and respectfully. The focal point of burning these parts was to create a "sweet savour unto the LORD," signifying that the offering was pleasing and acceptable to Him. The prescribed portions for the peace offerings highlight the significance of giving God the best, demonstrating the importance of sacrifice, and dedication in worship.* *However while the Old Testament gives us the details of how to make acceptable blood sacrifices, Jesus Christ, in the New Testament, offered up Himself as the Lamb of God who took away our sins on the cross at Calvary. "For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us" (Ephesians 2:14). With Jesus as our peace, we need not kill any animal to make peace for our iniquities, but only embrace Him wholeheartedly. Praise the Lord.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Any talk about peace that excludes the Prince of Peace is a piece of delusion.*_ πŸ“œπŸ“œ```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *EXODUS 1-4*πŸ“œπŸ“œ Our Peace Offering https://dailymanna.app// *RECOMMENDED GOSPEL HYMNS AND SONGS - GHS 237: PEACE! Having been born again and backsliding eventually is a sad commentary. Most saints of old served God well and finished strong. Joshua, for example, was a young man who served God under Moses. He was hard working and faithful.* *When Moses died, leadership responsibility was transferred to him, he served Israel well till he died at the age of 110. On his leadership impact, the Bible records this about him: "And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua..." (Joshua 24:31).* *Joshua was spiritually relevant from his youth to old age and even after death. Being spiritually relevant is not about being popular in the Church. It means to be committed to God, and living an impactful life for His kingdom.* *Beloved, maintain your spiritual experiences. Also, be devoted to God by having regular and meaningful quiet time, evangelising and reading, meditating and applying the word of God in your life. She regretted not following the advice of her godly parents and living by God's word. Regret is a feeling of sadness about a wrong action or about a mistake made. It is a wish that things could have been different and better. Nobody loves the feeling of regret, which many times is avoidable. Regret can come from missed opportunities. It might also arise from poor performance because of poor preparation. Regrets can arise from the pain of disobedience or from bad choices made. *The most painful regret everyone must avoid is missing heaven. Surrender your heart totally to Jesus Christ. Achan, Judas Iscariot and Herod probably wished they had made different choices. Avoid eternal pain and regret. The same with families, communities and individuals. Where there is no peace, the world will not even be as habitable as the animal kingdom. A relationship that is void of peace will produce bitterness and wormwood rather than joy or happiness. Peace is multidimensional starting with an individual person's peace which is the most important and the first thing Jesus gives those who come to Him. Then there is peace between man and God which goes simultaneously with true personal and individual peace. Lastly, we talk of peace between fellow human beings. This is the main reason why Jesus, the Prince of peace, came to pay the ultimate price to reconcile man with God. This subject is therefore, very important to God and must be important to anyone that desires to walk with God and work for God. The text gives us some valuable information on this all important subject of peace. *1. The Price of Peace* a. The price of peace is not cheap as we could notice from what must be sacrificed in the peace offerings offered to God. Anyone who desires to enjoy peace on a platter of gold may be living in the fool's paradise. There is a price to pay. The two kidneys and the fat must be removed from the animal sacrifice and burn as an offering to God on the altar while the remaining animal can be eaten as they wanted. *"And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away"*. Kidneys are vital organs in the body. When the kidneys are defective or dead, the person is as good as dead. This vital organ is what God demanded for Himself as His own portion of the peace offerings. The fat of the animal gives aroma to the meat and makes it pleasant to eat. Fat is one of the most precious parts of the animal. It is the energy repository of the animal. It is instructive enough that God also reserved the fat to Himself, indirectly showing that consuming too much of fat is not good for human health as shown by modern scientific discovery. *"And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto theΒ LORD"*. The kidneys and the fat were burnt for God while the remaining belong to man. b. God demands the best for Himself just as the kidneys and the fat are vital parts of the animal. Man, with due respect to God, must give God the best time or hours for fellowship with Him and for devotion with God. The best of man is the heart and so the heart should be given to God. Just as God asked for the kidneys, God is asking man, *"give me your heart"*. The best of man's possessions and treasures should be given to God. Just like the popular hymn says, *"Give of Your Best to the Master".* *Question* Do you give of your best to the Master in every area? *2. The Personification of Peace* a. Jesus is our peace offerings and that is the best the Father can give to us. God sacrificed His only begotten Son for the world that is totally void of true peace. Jesus offered Himself to the Lord for our peace. *"And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before theΒ LORD"*. We also must be willing to offer our best that is possible and available for peace. *"For he (Jesus) is our peace (offerings), who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us"*. The wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles was broken down by Christ so that there would not be enmity between the Jews and the Gentiles any longer. Also, the enmity between God and sinners has been destroyed by the offering up of the living body of Christ. The sinful man can now repent and come into direct fellowship with God. *"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace"*. This peace offering of Christ makes reconciliation with God an experiential reality. *"And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby"*. Jesus did not only yield His precious body as an offering for sin, His messages are centred on peace. *"And came and preached peace to you..."* (Ephesians 2:14-17). b. Though the sacrifice is already done by Christ, man has his own part to play. The sinful man, through the priest, must *"lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about"*. The sinner must identify with the sacrifice for the transaction of peace to be perfected and effectual. In order to enjoy the peace of God, the sinner must identify with the sacrifice of Christ by accepting it by faith and petition His blood to produce peace in the heart and peace with God. *Question* Have you identified with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by faith in Him? *3. The Pathway to Peace* a. The peace that God first gives is the peace with God which simultaneously results in the release of peace of Christ in the heart. Without peace of Christ in the heart, all other types of peace become elusive. *"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"*. The offended God forgives our sins and becomes our loving Father after repentance from sin through faith in the atoning sacrifice of peace offering of Christ. All efforts of man to bring peace to the world, families and relationships without first experiencing the peace of Christ in the heart will not yield a lasting and enduring peace. b.   • Matthew 13:18-23 Sow Where?
    To understand this parable it is important to know how sowing seed or farming has changed. These days seeds are planted in neat rows to give room for harvesters and equipment to tend to the plants in the field. Not so in Jesus’ day.
    Bags of seed were either slung on the backs of animals to be spread as the animal is led over the field or it was a single individual with a giant bag from which he is casting seed by hand, EVERYWHERE. What's important is to get as much seed growing as possible and that requires maximum distribution.
    But this is a parable of encouragement for the sower and a warning for those listening. The warning and the encouragement have the same words. β€œNot all seed that is cast will flourish.”
    He has already taught that the varied grounds upon which the seed is cast will affect the growth of the plant and the grounds represent the heart of those who hear the word. The first is the hard path which doesn't allow seed to root or grow.
    Satan, represented by the crows, comes to steal the seed before it has a chance to take root and grow. In other words, to remove it before the seed and time has a chance to make that seed grow. These are those for whom the gospel message is misunderstood or simply not believed.
    The second type of soil is the rocky places, where depth of rooting is not possible. Here, the seed (word) springs up quickly. But because the conversion is shallow, and when the inevitable hard times come, the ecstatic eager faith dies and the believer falls away from the faith.
    Sadly, many in today's churches live with a lifelong shallow faith because the persecution never arrives. Their faith cannot be tested because it's simply not strong enough to be. When some Christians are persecuted, it strengthens them. These are not those believers.
    The third soil is the soil with shrubbery, and thorns that grow with the seed and choke the life from these. Jesus says this represents those who believe for a short time and then the worries of the world, concern for riches begin to choke out the seed of growth.
    Again sadly, many churches today are more concerned with programs, buildings and things of this world than they are with the word of God. These worries stifle the work of the spirit and the actual growth of the Kingdom never occurs. But these congregations limp along barely surviving because the focus of their work has been redirected.
    Finally, there is the fourth type of soil, the good soil. Good soil can result in a little growth or in a lot of growth, but all things being equal, growth occurs. Preachers who only ever reached one person for Christ experienced growth. Those who reached thousands also experienced growth.
    First, let's cover what this doesn't say. It doesn't say we are to attempt to locate the type of soil (person) prior to casting (preaching). The idea that we are to limit preaching to those we consider, β€˜good soil’ and avoid every other kind of soil is not biblical. Some preachers deliberately avoid the populations of some communities for fear of preaching to rocky ground hearers.
    But let's make something clear, we are to preach to EVERYONE. The condition of their heart is the hearers responsibility, it's the preaching that is our responsibility. Some are tempted to not preach at Pride events or in the center of other Satanic inspired event because β€œthose people just won't listen”. That's not our right to declare someone worthy of hearing the gospel. It's for ALL.
    Second, and this is the most essential lesson of this text to take away from this lesson. The type of the soil, representing the condition of our hearts can change at various times in one's life. Many solid believers were once resistant or hostile to the gospel message perhaps of a hard hearted nature and now, are not.
    Who is to say that the word that was preached to you before, wasn't somehow lodged deep below, not germinating, but lying dormant waiting for the right time to sprout forth because now you are ready to hear it? So preach, sow, the word of God around you. Maybe a fourth of them will listen the way they should. And of that fourth, some will gain many and others will gain few regardless, we have an obligation to preach to everyone.
    And that is what is known as the Parable of the Sower.
    [18] β€œListen then to the parable of the sower. [19] When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one sown with seed beside the road. [20] The one sown with seed on the rocky places, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; [21] yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution occurs because of the word, immediately he falls away. [22] And the one sown with seed among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. [23] But the one sown with seed on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much.”
Sadly, many in today's churches live with a lifelong shallow faith because the persecution never arrives. Their faith cannot be tested because it's simply not strong enough to be. When some Christians are persecuted, it strengthens them. These are not those believers. The third soil is the soil with shrubbery, and thorns that grow with the seed and choke the life from these. Jesus says this represents those who believe for a short time and then the worries of the world, concern for riches begin to choke out the seed of growth. Again sadly, many churches today are more concerned with programs, buildings and things of this world than they are with the word of God. These worries stifle the work of the spirit and the actual growth of the Kingdom never occurs. But these congregations limp along barely surviving because the focus of their work has been redirected. Finally, there is the fourth type of soil, the good soil. Good soil can result in a little growth or in a lot of growth, but all things being equal, growth occurs. Preachers who only ever reached one person for Christ experienced growth. Those who reached thousands also experienced growth. First, let's cover what this doesn't say. It doesn't say we are to attempt to locate the type of soil (person) prior to casting (preaching). The idea that we are to limit preaching to those we consider, β€˜good soil’ and avoid every other kind of soil is not biblical. Some preachers deliberately avoid the populations of some communities for fear of preaching to rocky ground hearers. But let's make something clear, we are to preach to EVERYONE. The condition of their heart is the hearers responsibility, it's the preaching that is our responsibility. Some are tempted to not preach at Pride events or in the center of other Satanic inspired event because β€œthose people just won't listen”. That's not our right to declare someone worthy of hearing the gospel. It's for ALL. Second, and this is the most essential lesson of this text to take away from this lesson. The type of the soil, representing the condition of our hearts can change at various times in one's life. Many solid believers were once resistant or hostile to the gospel message perhaps of a hard hearted nature and now, are not. Who is to say that the word that was preached to you before, wasn't somehow lodged deep below, not germinating, but lying dormant waiting for the right time to sprout forth because now you are ready to hear it? So preach, sow, the word of God around you. Maybe a fourth of them will listen the way they should. And of that fourth, some will gain many and others will gain few regardless, we have an obligation to preach to everyone. And that is what is known as the Parable of the Sower. [18] β€œListen then to the parable of the sower. [19] When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one sown with seed beside the road. [20] The one sown with seed on the rocky places, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; [21] yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution occurs because of the word, immediately he falls away. [22] And the one sown with seed among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. [23] But the one sown with seed on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much.”
    THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE.
    *TOPIC:*
    SICKNESS AND DISEASES.
    *TEXT:*
    2 KINGS 5:20-27.
    20. Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, β€œMy master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”
    21. So Gehazi hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him. β€œIs everything all right?” he asked.
    22. β€œEverything is all right,” Gehazi answered. β€œMy master sent me to say, β€˜Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’ ”
    23. β€œBy all means, take two talents,” said Naaman. He urged Gehazi to accept them, and then tied up the two talents of silver in two bags, with two sets of clothing. He gave them to two of his servants, and they carried them ahead of Gehazi.
    24. When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the things from the servants and put them away in the house. He sent the men away and they left.
    25. When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, β€œWhere have you been, Gehazi?” β€œYour servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.
    26. But Elisha said to him, β€œWas not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves?
    27. Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprousβ€”it had become as white as snow.
    *TOPIC:*
    SICKNESS AND DISEASES.
    *THE MESSAGE:*
    Sickness and diseases are signs of physical or mental unwellness. In 2 Kings 5, Naaman was healed of leprosy through faith and obedience, revealing God's power. In contrast, Gehazi, Elisha's servant, fell into sin due to greed. Driven by the love of money, he deceitfully pursued Naaman to acquire gifts Elisha had refused. His actions were not hidden from God. Through divine insight, Elisha confronted Gehazi and was struck with the same leprosy that had afflicted Naaman. Greed leads not only to spiritual ruin but also to physical consequences. Today, because of the love of money, some have indulged in prostitution. Some have contracted sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) while others are living miserably as a consequence. Are you compromising your faith for a fleeting gain? Seek God's mercy in repentance.
    *REFLECTION:*
    Be warned! Greed can destroy your life.
    *PRAYER:*
    Mighty God, help me to overcome greed in my life, in Jesus' name. Amen.
    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    12Β TheΒ LORDΒ shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
    14Β And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
    *Timeless Truth:*_"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:...That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith"_
    Galatians 3:13,14.
    *INTRODUCTION*
    The blessings God gave to Abraham is summarized in Genesis 12:2,3. They entail making him a great nation and a great name in addition to making him a blessing to mankind. This blessing is all encompassing covering spiritual, physical, social and material. Our text is a break down of those blessings to the natural seed of Abraham, which is the nation of Israel. It can be zeroed down to the citizens since the blessings on the citizens are blessings on the nation and vice versa. Even when individuals miss out of the blessings through carelessness and faithlessness, the nation will still enjoy the blessings as a whole. The Church of God automatically, inherits these blessings through the death of Jesus Christ that made it possible for the wild olive tree to be grafted into the olive tree. There are some striking observations. As the Old Covenant started with blessings or blessedness, the same thing with the new covenant when Jesus pronounced blessedness on the believers (Matthew 5:3-11). So the essence and motivation of divine covenants is not judgements, but blessings. The blessings or blessedness of the Old Covenant as revealed in the text are majorly earthly and material with little touch of spiritual blessings. However, all the blessedness mentioned by Jesus, in Matthew 5, are on spiritual, the material can only be gotten by inference. Thus, the emphasis of the blessedness in the New Covenant is spiritual blessings while the material blessings are not denied either. These spiritual blessings are called *"the promise of the Spirit through faith"* (Galatians 3:14). Thus, those pulpits and people who put more emphasis on the material blessings than the spiritual blessings of Abraham's blessings are still, by implication, living in the Old Testament. Also observe that the blessedness Moses pronounced in the Old Covenant are just four, while the blessedness Jesus pronounced in the New Testament are nine which is the same number of the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. Thus, the blessings of the New Testament are greater and better than that of the old. *"But now hath he (Jesus) obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises"* (Hebrews 8:6). Just as the blessings of the Old Covenant is for the Nation Israel and individuals are expected to tap into each of them, the blessedness of the New Covenant is for the Church and individuals have the responsibility to freely tap into any and all of them by faith. In the text is the breakdown of the blessings and the conditions. They are self explanatory. Happy is he that takes the bull by the horn and does all that is necessary to be a partaker of those blessings, most especially the spiritual blessings.
    *1. The Multidimensional Blessings*
    *a. Professional Blessings*
    The major occupation of Israel was farming and raising livestock. Both are done in the field. *"Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field"*. Obviously, this promise is only for those who work and have a clear work profession and not for the lazy and indolent.
    *b. Procreation Blessings*
    The first blessing God gave Adam and the living beings He created is procreation. *"And God blessed them, saying, be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth..."* (Genesis 1:22, 24, 29). *"Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep"*. Procreation and multiplication are both responsibilities and the demand of God on all. Unwillingness to procreate, for whatever reason is not the will of God. Lack of procreation is not just a fundamental right, but a fundamental failure.
    *c. Prosperity Blessings*
    a. Their harvests and their profitable labours or sweats are also blessed. *"Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store"*. There are also social blessings. *"Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out"*. Honour and happiness, are not shame or disgrace are marked for true children of God. He promised, *"My people shall never be ashamed"* in the midst of the saints and sinners. There is a divine command of blessings *"in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which theΒ LORDΒ thy God giveth thee"*. You don't have to run to another land for blessings. *"And the LORDΒ shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee"*.
    *d. Protection Blessings*
    Prosperity and blessings do attract enmity, envy, and hatred of the wicked. There is divine complete comprehensive insurance in the Covenant. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways"*. The divine response to any attack of the wicked will not be commensurate with the attack, but will be seven times the attack showing that total, not partial, victory is guaranteed.
    *e. Purity Blessings*
    This is the only one of the blessings that is spiritual. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee"*. You can only be established in what you possess. So it shows that God would first make them holy and they shall remain in holy living by the power of God. The implication is that your lifestyle will be unarguably godly. This is also fulfilled for the Church when the believers in Christ are called Christians. While the idol worshippers and sinners resemble Satan, the God of this world, believers in Christ are to avail themselves of the grace of God and be Christlike and gracious.
    *"And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of theΒ LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee"*.
    *f. Partaking Blessings*
    The blessings of God are not only to be enjoyed, but to be shared with people to partake. God will give abundance that is enough to give others partake from. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall open unto thee his good treasure...and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow"*. Your impact is known by what you share and not according to what you possess. *"God is able to make all grace abound towards you so that you have all sufficiency in all things"*
    How about that?
    *g. Preferential Blessings*
    The last but not the least of the blessings God has for you is to excel in every good thing above the godless. *"And theΒ LORDΒ shall make thee the head, and not the tail"*. It is God that will do it for you, but beyond that. It is not just excellence in some areas of life, but excellent in every area. *"And thou shalt be above only"*. What is the significance of the word *"only"* in the promise?
    *Question*
    Which of the blessings is not yet manifesting in your life? Why Not?
    *2. The Manifestations of Believing*
    Do you believe that these blessings are yours? The only way one can demonstrate faith in God's blessings is through obedience of faith. Abraham himself manifested faith in what God said. *"Abraham believed God and it was counted for righteousness"*. Faith in God is active. It produces obedience. Obedience to all that God commanded starting from repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, followed by consistent holy walk with God like Abraham that God commanded, *"walk before me and be thou perfect"*. This condition of obedience is repeated over and over. *"And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that theΒ LORDΒ thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth"*. A lift above equals and all above sinners is a function of diligent obedience to the Word of God. This also applies to the Church as a whole. *"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of theΒ LORDΒ thy God"*. This is emphasised again and again. *"If thou shalt keep the commandments of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, and walk in his ways"*. They are conditional blessings. *If that thou hearken unto the commandments of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them"*. In this age of hypergrace, this emphasis cannot be overemphasised. Since enjoying the blessings of Abraham is conditioned on obedience of faith, the same blessings will require the same conditions in the New Covenant. Grace does not cancel obedience, but makes obedience very easy. *"And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them"*.
    *Question*
    Do you take obedience to the Word of God very seriously?
    *Prayer Points*
    1.Give praises to God that qualifies you to be a partaker of Abraham's blessings .
    2.Ask for faith and grace to take obedience very seriously .
    3.Ask for any of the blessings not yet visible in your life .
    4.Just as the blessedness of the New Testament prioritize the spiritual blessings, pray that pastors and people will put more emphasis on spiritual blessings
    *HYMN:* Showers of Blessings
    *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* GENESIS 17-20.
    2. Evening Prayer for today:
    EP.i. Evening Prayer
    Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. ⏀ Psalm 139:23-24
    Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed. ⏀ George Whitefield
    As evening comes, we turn to You, God, to end the day as we began itβ€”with You. We asked You to help us keep the promises we made on Sunday and to live out the spiritual insights we gained.
    We’re thankful for the help You’ve given us today. You’ve watched over us, guided us, and blessed us. We’re grateful for everything You’ve done for us today.
    But we also admit our shortcomings. We didn’t do everything we promised to do. We found ourselves too weak for some of today’s challenges, temptations, and burdens.
    We ask You to forgive us. We always need Your forgiveness because we always fall short. But tonight, we pray that You’ll help us grow stronger so that tomorrow we’ll do better and live closer to You. We want to grow in grace, overcome our faults, develop good habits, and become stronger against temptation.
    So our prayer is that You’ll cleanse us, make us more like You, and fill our hearts with more of Your Spirit so we can live better lives.
    If we’ve hurt anyone today with a careless word or action, please forgive us and help us make it right. If we failed to show kindness or didn’t help when we should have, please forgive us and teach us to be more caring in the future. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Honour and happiness, are not shame or disgrace are marked for true children of God. He promised, *"My people shall never be ashamed"* in the midst of the saints and sinners. There is a divine command of blessings *"in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which theΒ LORDΒ thy God giveth thee"*. You don't have to run to another land for blessings. *"And the LORDΒ shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee"*. *d. Protection Blessings* Prosperity and blessings do attract enmity, envy, and hatred of the wicked. There is divine complete comprehensive insurance in the Covenant. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways"*. The divine response to any attack of the wicked will not be commensurate with the attack, but will be seven times the attack showing that total, not partial, victory is guaranteed. *e. Purity Blessings* This is the only one of the blessings that is spiritual. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee"*. You can only be established in what you possess. So it shows that God would first make them holy and they shall remain in holy living by the power of God. The implication is that your lifestyle will be unarguably godly. This is also fulfilled for the Church when the believers in Christ are called Christians. While the idol worshippers and sinners resemble Satan, the God of this world, believers in Christ are to avail themselves of the grace of God and be Christlike and gracious. *"And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of theΒ LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee"*. *f. Partaking Blessings* The blessings of God are not only to be enjoyed, but to be shared with people to partake. God will give abundance that is enough to give others partake from. *"TheΒ LORDΒ shall open unto thee his good treasure...and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow"*. Your impact is known by what you share and not according to what you possess. *"God is able to make all grace abound towards you so that you have all sufficiency in all things"* How about that? *g. Preferential Blessings* The last but not the least of the blessings God has for you is to excel in every good thing above the godless. *"And theΒ LORDΒ shall make thee the head, and not the tail"*. It is God that will do it for you, but beyond that. It is not just excellence in some areas of life, but excellent in every area. *"And thou shalt be above only"*. What is the significance of the word *"only"* in the promise? *Question* Which of the blessings is not yet manifesting in your life? Why Not? *2. The Manifestations of Believing* Do you believe that these blessings are yours? The only way one can demonstrate faith in God's blessings is through obedience of faith. Abraham himself manifested faith in what God said. *"Abraham believed God and it was counted for righteousness"*. Faith in God is active. It produces obedience. Obedience to all that God commanded starting from repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, followed by consistent holy walk with God like Abraham that God commanded, *"walk before me and be thou perfect"*. This condition of obedience is repeated over and over. *"And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that theΒ LORDΒ thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth"*. A lift above equals and all above sinners is a function of diligent obedience to the Word of God. This also applies to the Church as a whole. *"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of theΒ LORDΒ thy God"*. This is emphasised again and again. *"If thou shalt keep the commandments of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, and walk in his ways"*. They are conditional blessings. *If that thou hearken unto the commandments of theΒ LORDΒ thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them"*. In this age of hypergrace, this emphasis cannot be overemphasised. Since enjoying the blessings of Abraham is conditioned on obedience of faith, the same blessings will require the same conditions in the New Covenant. Grace does not cancel obedience, but makes obedience very easy. *"And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them"*. *Question* Do you take obedience to the Word of God very seriously? *Prayer Points* 1.Give praises to God that qualifies you to be a partaker of Abraham's blessings πŸ™. 2.Ask for faith and grace to take obedience very seriously πŸ™. 3.Ask for any of the blessings not yet visible in your life πŸ™. 4.Just as the blessedness of the New Testament prioritize the spiritual blessings, pray that pastors and people will put more emphasis on spiritual blessingsπŸ™ *HYMN:* Showers of Blessings *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* GENESIS 17-20. 2. Evening Prayer for today: EP.i. Evening Prayer Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. ⏀ Psalm 139:23-24 Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed. ⏀ George Whitefield As evening comes, we turn to You, God, to end the day as we began itβ€”with You. We asked You to help us keep the promises we made on Sunday and to live out the spiritual insights we gained. We’re thankful for the help You’ve given us today. You’ve watched over us, guided us, and blessed us. We’re grateful for everything You’ve done for us today. But we also admit our shortcomings. We didn’t do everything we promised to do. We found ourselves too weak for some of today’s challenges, temptations, and burdens. We ask You to forgive us. We always need Your forgiveness because we always fall short. But tonight, we pray that You’ll help us grow stronger so that tomorrow we’ll do better and live closer to You. We want to grow in grace, overcome our faults, develop good habits, and become stronger against temptation. So our prayer is that You’ll cleanse us, make us more like You, and fill our hearts with more of Your Spirit so we can live better lives. If we’ve hurt anyone today with a careless word or action, please forgive us and help us make it right. If we failed to show kindness or didn’t help when we should have, please forgive us and teach us to be more caring in the future. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/01/evening #taptapstudio #youdevotion.
    TITLE: "Serving God with Excellence and Diligence"
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S)
    Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
    Colossians 3:23 (KJV) "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
    QUOTE TO REFLECT ON
    "Excellence is worship when every task is done wholeheartedly for the glory of God."
    DAY'S REFLECTION
    Every day presents opportunities to serve God through the work He has entrusted to us. Whether in ministry, business, teaching, parenting, farming, or any other vocation, God values not only what we do but also the attitude with which we do it.
    Solomon encourages us to do whatever our hands find to do with all our might. This is a call to diligence, commitment, and excellence. Life is a gift with limited time, and each day offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact before our earthly assignment is complete.
    Paul adds another important perspective: our work should be done heartily, as unto the Lord and not merely to impress people. This transforms ordinary tasks into acts of worship. A teacher preparing lessons with care, a carpenter crafting quality furniture, a minister preaching faithfully, or a student studying diligently can all glorify God through their work.
    Consider a mason building a house. If he cuts corners because the owner is absent, the building may later develop dangerous cracks. However, if he works with integrity and excellence, the structure will stand the test of time. Likewise, when we remember that God sees every effort, we are motivated to give our very best, even when no one else is watching.
    Today, approach every responsibility with diligence, integrity, and joy. Your work is more than a dutyβ€”it is an opportunity to honour God and bless others.
    MEDITATION SCRIPTURE(S) WITH FULL VERSES
    Proverbs 14:23 (KJV) "In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury."
    1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
    LIFE LESSONS (IMPLICATIONS)
    1. Every task deserves your best effort.
    2. Work done for God's glory has eternal value.
    3. Excellence reflects integrity and godly character.
    4. Diligence opens doors to greater opportunities.
    5. God rewards faithfulness, even in ordinary responsibilities.
    EVERYDAY ACTION:
    Complete today's work with excellence.
    Avoid procrastination and carelessness.
    Serve others with integrity and joy.
    Offer every task to God in prayer.
    PRAYER
    Heavenly Father, help me to serve You faithfully in all I do. Give me a diligent spirit and a heart that seeks to glorify You through my work. In Jesus' name, Amen.
    DECLARATION
    I will work with excellence and integrity. My labour brings glory to God.
    I serve the Lord with all my heart. My hands are blessed and fruitful. Everything I do will reflect God's excellence.
  • This Week's Post from China Partnership
    Editor’s note: Join us this June as we pray for the city of Fuyang in Anhui Province. Fuyang culture is strongly traditional, and most people work in agriculture. Fuyang has many believers, thanks to the rural revival that swept through the area in the 1980s and 90s. Church leaders say they have experienced significant persecution over the last few years, but that God has matured them and their churches through the difficulty.
    Fuyang: A Long Christian History
    Meet the Fuyang Leaders
    China Partnership: Briefly introduce yourself, your family, and your church.
    Song Xile: I am bi-vocational, and serve my church as an elder. My wife and I have one child.
    Our church has faced persecution over the last years. During that same period, I had to set aside ministry for a time because of illness.
    The last year has been difficult because [after persecution] many were worshiping alone at home. That was not good. Now, we’re trying to gather in person a little more. We are fairly stable, and slowly recovering from persecution. Spiritually, many have grown a great deal.
    Hu Laiyang: I’m a member serving in the same church. I have two children.
    Zhang Ping: I’m a seminary student, studying theology. My wife and I both grew up in Christian homes, and we have two children. For now, our church is just a “preaching station” because we don’t have a pastor.
    Wu Huizhi: My wife and I became Christians in college, through her believing mother. We have several children.
    We’ve had a lot of outside pressure these last years, but we’ve also had really good shepherding. I think that is God’s great grace.
    I came to faith in college, and my training and theological grounding came through a traditional house church. But after I finished seminary and began serving the church, I was attracted to the Reformed faith. So, I left my traditional house church, hoping to eventually join a Reformed church.
    I started out serving a Christian school. Back then, and even still today, Christian schools were springing up all over China. My school was eventually disbanded by the authorities. Now we have been at this church for several years, and I continue to serve our church’s school. Our school’s goal is to educate Christian children so they know God’s word from an early age.
    We’ve had a lot of outside pressure these last years, but we’ve also had really good shepherding. I think that is God’s great grace.
    Tan Jianli: Fuyang is my wife’s hometown, and I moved here when we got married. We have very young children, so I’m a little dazed from staying up at night with them. I serve through teaching theology to older students at the Christian school.
    Long Christian History
    CP: What makes Fuyang unique among Chinese cities?
    Song Xile: Fuyang is very populous, with more than nine million people. It’s in China’s Central Plains region. Southerners see Fuyang as a northern city; northerners see it as southern. Fuyang sits in between, so the culture is mixed, not really north or south.
    Economically, Fuyang hasn’t developed well, and the average income is low. It’s mostly farmland and agriculture; not much industry. Overall, the education level is also pretty low. Not many highly educated or influential people choose to stay in Fuyang.
    Fuyang has a long Christian history, and was one of the earliest places in inland China to receive the gospel. I’m a third-generation believer – my grandfather has been a Christian more than 70 years. Many in his generation heard the gospel, but had a weak grasp of the truth. For a Chinese city, Fuyang has a relatively high proportion of believers. But, precisely because so many believe, the depth of faith and its influence on rural background believers isn’t as strong.
    Faith Grounded in Rural Revival
    Zhang Ping: I grew up in Fuyang as a second-generation believer. Early evangelism here often came out of Henan Province. Watchman Nee’s Little Flock churches were widespread, and fundamentalist teaching was common. The rural revival of the 1970s and 80s brought a wave of conversions among whole families.
    Fuyang has a long Christian history, and was one of the earliest places in inland China to receive the gospel.
    About 10 to 15 years ago we encountered Reformed teaching, and starting moving toward that. Later, we began pursuing Christian education. Now our church is Reformed Presbyterian in structure and governance. In the past decade, Reformed churches have grown quickly in Fuyang, even as traditional house churches still remain large.
    Over the past few years, we have faced persecution. Right now, we meet online, in smaller, in-person groups.
    Generational Arc as Christianity Matures
    Hu Laiyang: Fuyang is a large city with a big population. Transportation is well-developed, and many people work away from home. Cultural and educational levels are relatively low, income is low, and the economy relies mainly on agriculture, aqua farming, and migrant labor.
    North of the Huai River, most people eat wheat-based foods, but near the Huai, rice is more common. Fuyang has a strong, vibrant night-market and street-life culture.
    The China Inland Mission arrived early, in the 1880s, and became the largest Protestant group. By 1937, there were more than two thousand believers. Catholicism also came to this area, but that eventually faded. Older believers tell me gospel work in Fuyang was very vibrant in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Believers in those generations were zealous, spreading the gospel widely, preaching throughout Fuyang and surrounding regions.
    Believers from that time left many beautiful testimonies to the next generation. Many children of those believers were raised up. As they grew, they focused on Sunday schools, theological training, and church-building. In the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, many young people dedicated themselves to seminary. Fuyang has a seminary that has been running for more than 20 years, and graduates from that seminary are found serving faithfully in Fuyang and across China.
    Over the past decade or so, people began coming into contact with Reformed theology. Although the older generation was fervent, passionate, and devoted, their theology was genuinely weak. But in the last 15 or so years, people slowly began establishing Reformed churches, and focusing on theology and church polity. Traditional house churches still make up the majority of Fuyang churches. Other Christians are in the official, government-sanctioned Three-Self church, and some of us are in the Reformed tradition.
    Believers from that time left many beautiful testimonies to the next generation. Many children of those believers were raised up. As they grew, they focused on Sunday schools, theological training, and church-building.
    The generational arc began with the evangelizing generation, then moved to the theology-building generation, and then to the church-order generation. As the Christian children of the 80s and 90s grew up and began starting their own families, they looked toward the faith of the next generation. They wanted to do more than just build up the children once they were grown, more than just Sunday school. Instead, they hoped that from childhood, through full-time education and participation in Sunday worship, all of it would be a process of glorifying God. So, our generation is building up Christian education.
    Reformed Churches: Small but Influential
    Wu Huizhi: Fuyang is a third-tier city. Agriculture is the main industry, and there are not many universities, so local education resources are quite limited. Most young people leave Fuyang and go to cities like Shanghai to find work. Others leave for education. As a result, it’s hard for Fuyang to hold on to talented people. When young people leave for work or study, not many come back, because they find more opportunities for work, study, and even ministry in big cities.
    Although Reformed churches have been in Fuyang for 15 or so years, these churches are still a minority in the Christian community. Most churches are fundamentalist evangelical, built around a spiritual leader’s life and influence. Reformed churches, with clear confessional statements, theological structure, church constitutions, and formal polity, are few in number. But, although there aren’t as many, Reformed churches have done a lot of work in many areas, especially education. Because of that, Reformed churches have attracted government attention.
    Strong Tradition
    Tan Jianli: Fuyang people love to eat. There are restaurants everywhere, and popular spots are always packed. People, especially older generations, are very superstitious. During every major holiday, there are all kinds of special rules. I’m from another city, and there aren’t so many rules back home. But here, there are many traditions. For instance, a married daughter returning to her parents’ home has to bring specific gifts, like two fish. There are all kinds of rules like that. I also find that people from older generations strongly prefer sons over daughters. If a married couple doesn’t have children, the older generation finds that very hard to accept.
    Song Xile, Hu Laiyang, Zhang Ping, Wu Huizhi, and Tan Jianli are pseudonyms for house church elders and deacons in Fuyang.
    HOW GENESIS STANDS APART
    When we read Genesis 1 today, we often read it through the lens of modern science. We ask questions about biology, geology, and time. But to the original ancient audience, Genesis was not just a record of origins. It was a mic drop that systematically dismantled the most powerful religions of the ancient world. While Israels neighbors, the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Canaanites, were terrified of their gods, Genesis presented a reality that changed everything. The archaeology of ancient myths reveals that the Biblical account was not just a story. It was a revolutionary document.
    In the Babylonian creation myth, Enuma Elish, the world begins with a violent, bloody war between gods. The hero god, Marduk, murders the chaos monster Tiamat and slices her corpse in half to create the sky and the earth. Creation was born out of violence and trauma. Genesis enters the scene and makes a radical claim: there was no fight. There was no rival power God had to overcome. God speaks into the darkness, and the darkness obeys. By using the Hebrew word tehom, which means the deep and is a linguistic cousin to the name Tiamat, the author of Genesis is essentially saying that the monster everyone else feared was just water, and it moved whenever the true God told it to.This subversion continues when we look at the sky.
    To the Egyptians, the Sun was the mighty god Ra. To the Mesopotamians, the Moon was the god Sin. These were entities to be worshipped and feared. Genesis handles these deities with a sense of divine irony. The text does not even give them their names. It simply calls them the greater light and the lesser light. To the biblical author, the sun and moon are not gods to be appeased. They are merely light fixtures God hung in the hallway of the universe to help us keep time. In one sentence, the Bible demoted the supreme gods of the ancient world to the status of household equipment.
    Perhaps the most beautiful difference is found in why humans were made. In almost every other ancient myth, humans were an afterthought. They were created from the blood of a defeated rebel god to be slaves to the winners, doing the hard labor of irrigation and farming so the gods could rest. Genesis flips the script entirely. God did not create humans because He needed labor. He created humans for fellowship with Him. We are not the sludge of a cosmic war. We are the Image Bearers of the King. In the ancient world, only a King was called the Image of God, but Genesis declared that every human being is royalty in Gods eyes and designed for a personal relationship with their Creator.
    The archaeological record shows us that ancient people lived in a world of unpredictable gods. You never knew if the Nile would flood or if the rain would come because the gods were moody and temperamental. Genesis introduced the concept of a Created Order. Because God is logical, the world is logical. This mindset is actually what laid the groundwork for the study of nature. If the world is not a battlefield of moody spirits but a designed system of a rational Creator, then we can study it and steward it with confidence.
    Genesis was not written to satisfy modern scientific curiosity. It was written to answer the Who of the universe. It tells us that we live in a world designed by the God of peace, not violence; the God of logic, not whim; and the God who views you not as a servant to be used, but as a person made specifically for fellowship with Him. Our Lord God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
    God's Creation = 100 / evolution = 0 HOW GENESIS STANDS APART When we read Genesis 1 today, we often read it through the lens of modern science. We ask questions about biology, geology, and time. But to the original ancient audience, Genesis was not just a record of origins. It was a mic drop that systematically dismantled the most powerful religions of the ancient world. While Israels neighbors, the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Canaanites, were terrified of their gods, Genesis presented a reality that changed everything. The archaeology of ancient myths reveals that the Biblical account was not just a story. It was a revolutionary document. In the Babylonian creation myth, Enuma Elish, the world begins with a violent, bloody war between gods. The hero god, Marduk, murders the chaos monster Tiamat and slices her corpse in half to create the sky and the earth. Creation was born out of violence and trauma.
