Let's talk about it. YOUR MIND AND HEART NEED GOD’S WORD Just as a plant cannot grow without water, our mind and heart cannot truly flourish without the Word of God. Every day, we are surrounded by voices—opinions, distractions, temptations, fears, and worries. What we continually feed our minds will eventually shape our thoughts, and what fills our hearts will eventually influence our words, choices, and actions. That is why we must intentionally water our lives with God’s Word DAILY. When you are discouraged, read His promises. When you are confused, seek His wisdom. When you are tempted, remember His truth. When you are afraid, hold on to His Word. When you are tired, let His presence renew you. The Bible is not merely a book to display—it is God’s truth to live by. It corrects us when we are wrong, strengthens us when we are weak, guides us when we are lost, and reminds us of who God is when life becomes difficult. A neglected plant withers. A heart neglected from God grows cold. A mind without God’s truth becomes vulnerable to deception. But a life continually nourished by God’s Word becomes stronger in faith. God's Purpose - Psalm 18:28 by Carl H. Stevens There certainly will be times in our lives when we will be surrounded by darkness. Our first reaction is often to get out of it as quickly as possible, but let us consider the purpose God has for troublesome times. In difficulties, we can do one of two things: we can draw near to God (2), or we can run away from the trial set before us. We can expect to have great loneliness while in darkness. Psalm 88:18 says, "Lover and friend thou hast put far from me..." God does this so we will seek Him out and allow Him to become our source of life, rather than people. We must search for the light, knowing that He is Light (3). Light always arises out of darkness (4). Each night has a morning. These times of darkness will be great, and may be painful, but if you do not depart from the Word and continue to feed upon it, then Christ will become your provision. Psalm 112:7-8 tells how the writer´s heart was fixed on trusting the Lord. Do not despair while in darkness. Use it as an opportunity to draw near to Him Who does not change (6). You may discover riches stored in those dark places (7). Psalm 18:28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. To Live and Then Live --- Civilization is like a coin tossed in the air, waiting to fall to the ground. On one side, it promises progress. On the other, it crushes millions beneath its weight. Most of humanity comes from humble beginnings. For them, the universal basics—food, clothing, shelter—remain unmet. When your energy is consumed entirely by survival, there is little room left for anything else. The motivation to pursue higher callings doesn't even register. You're trapped in a relentless rat race, chasing what should be fundamental, yet experiencing unending failure and dissatisfaction. This is the tragedy of modern life: being too busy staying alive to actually live. But flip the coin. Once basic needs are met, once there is psychological comfort, something shifts. The desire to fulfill why we were created becomes the focus. The question transforms from "How will I survive?" to "What am I here for?" This is where civilization fulfills its noblest purpose—as a stepping stone for self-actualization. Civilization is an ongoing work in progress—the refining of ideas from generation to generation, adapting knowledge into daily life, forming a progressive paradigm. Yet here we are. The majority of people today are stranded in life. They find themselves: · Influenced · Lived (instead of living) · Controlled · Manipulated · Surrounded by the ideas of others So consumed are they by external voices that they lose the ability to focus on their own thoughts, their own ideas, their own lives. You were not born to merely survive. You were not born to be a vessel for someone else's vision. You were born to contribute your unique piece to this ongoing work of civilization. First, live—meet your needs, find your footing. Then, truly live—discover your purpose, nurture your ideas, and bring them into the world. The coin is still in the air. August 25 🌿 “WHO GOD IS TO ME” MY HIDING PLACE 📖 Psalm 32:7 (LLV) — “You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” Sometimes we need a place to hide. Not because we are running from life. Not because we refuse to face what lies before us. But because our hearts need somewhere safe to become quiet again. David knew such a place. “You are my hiding place.” Notice that David does not say, “You provide a hiding place for me.” He says, “You are.” God Himself was the place David could go. When guilt weighed heavily upon him. When enemies surrounded him. When fear filled his thoughts. When life became too loud, David knew where to retreat. To God. There is a difference between hiding from God and hiding in God. We hide from God when shame makes us afraid to come near. We hide in God when we finally understand that He is the safest place we can go. We do not have to arrive with everything figured out. We do not have to pretend we are stronger than we feel. We can simply come. And remain for a while. “You will protect me from trouble.” David does not say trouble will never come. He had already experienced far too much to believe that. But trouble would never have the final word. Then David says: “You surround me with songs of deliverance.” What a change. At first, David is surrounded by trouble. But when he rests in God, he discovers something else surrounding him. Deliverance. Grace. Faithfulness. The evidence of all the times God has already carried him through. Perhaps we sometimes need to become quiet enough to hear those songs again. To remember the prayers God answered. The doors He opened. The strength He provided. The valleys He carried us through. And the grace that met us when we thought we had wandered too far. There will always be noise outside our hiding place. But inside, there is a familiar voice reminding us: You are safe with Me. A new beginning sometimes begins by withdrawing for a little while: when life becomes too loud for my heart, God Himself is my hiding place. Reflection: When my heart becomes overwhelmed, where do I instinctively retreat—and have I learned simply to become quiet in the presence of God? Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my hiding place. When life becomes noisy, when worries crowd my thoughts, or when my own heart becomes weary, draw me close to You. Teach me the difference between hiding from You and finding shelter in You. Quiet my heart long enough to remember Your faithfulness and hear again the songs of deliverance with which You surround me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Monday Encouragement — Now Let Us Live What We Believe Blessings, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Yesterday we had the wonderful privilege of gathering with God’s people on the Lord’s Day. We worshiped our sovereign God, heard His precious Word proclaimed, prayed together, and were reminded once again of the saving grace that is ours through our Lord Jesus Christ. But now Monday has arrived. The worship service has ended, but our worship has not. Today we return to our homes, workplaces, ministries, communities, responsibilities, and challenges. And this is where the truth we heard yesterday must become visible in the way we live today. It is easy to proclaim our trust in God while surrounded by fellow believers on Sunday. The greater challenge comes on Monday when difficulties return, unexpected problems arise, and the noise of this world begins competing for our attention. Yet the God we worshiped yesterday is the same God who walks with us today. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” — Hebrews 13:8 Whatever this week brings, let us resist the temptation to immediately depend upon our own understanding and strength. Before making decisions, pray. When difficulties arise, pray. When opportunities appear, pray. When someone needs encouragement, ask God to give you the words to speak. And wherever the Lord places us this week, let us remember that we carry something this world desperately needs—the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are not called merely to observe the darkness around us. We have been commanded to carry the Light into it. There may be someone God places before you this week who needs to hear that there is hope. Someone may need to experience Christian compassion. Someone may simply need to see through your life that Jesus Christ truly makes a difference. Let us therefore begin this week asking one simple question: “Lord, how can You use me today for Your glory?” “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” — Colossians 3:23 May the Lord guide our steps, guard our hearts, strengthen our faith, and give us courage to faithfully proclaim Christ wherever He sends us. Yesterday we gathered to worship. Today we go forth to serve. Serving Christ Together for His Glory Alone. Soli Deo Gloria.

TEEN MISSIONARIES GET MARRIED AFTER MEETING ON A MISSION TRIP, 24 HOURS LATER THIER LIVES WERE TAKEN. A Young Christian couple who dedicated their lives to missionary work had just stepped into marriage when their story took a devastating turn. They met while serving as missionaries in South Africa, both passionate about sharing the Gospel and living out their faith on the mission field. Their love grew quickly, rooted in their shared calling and devotion to God. Soon, they were engaged-and believed they were stepping into a lifelong journey of ministry together as husband and wife. They held a simple courthouse wedding surrounded by close family. It was a moment of joy, faith, and new beginnings. But just one day after saying "I do," tragedy struck. The newlyweds were involved in a fatal car crash, cutting their marriage story down to less than 24 hours. One passed away at the scene, and the other later died in the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash. What should have been the start of a lifetime together became a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life truly is. Yet even in the sorrow, those who knew them continue to speak of their deep faith and devotion to Jesus. Their lives may have been short, but their testimony of love for Christ continues to speak. In the midst of grief, many are reflecting on a deeper biblical truth found in Isaiah 57:1: ' "The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; devout people are taken away, while no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil." Though their time on earth was brief, their legacy of faith, love for Christ, and missionary devotion continues to speak.

🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 236 DATE: 24TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: RELY ON GOD _4 ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:Daniel 1:8 (NKJV) “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank...” Devotional message: Yesterday, we saw that one of the ways we demonstrate our reliance upon God is through prayer. When we pray, we acknowledge that we need God and cannot successfully navigate life by our own strength. Today, we look at another evidence of genuine dependence upon God: choosing purity and holiness even when compromise appears attractive.Our reliance upon God is not demonstrated only by what we say in prayer; it is also demonstrated by the decisions we make when nobody is watching and when compromise appears to offer us an advantage. Joseph is a powerful example.When Potiphar's wife repeatedly attempted to entice him into sexual immorality, Joseph refused. His response revealed where his confidence was anchored:Genesis 39:9 (NKJV)“How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Joseph understood that compromising his purity would not merely be an offence against Potiphar or his wife—it would ultimately be sin against God.He valued his relationship with God more than the temporary pleasure being offered to him. Daniel demonstrated the same conviction. Although he had been taken into Babylonian captivity and was surrounded by a culture that did not honour his God, he purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's provisions.Daniel could have reasoned that circumstances had changed and therefore his standards could change too. Instead, he remained faithful. Then we see Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When commanded to bow before Nebuchadnezzar's golden image, they refused—even when the consequence was being thrown into a fiery furnace.Their response demonstrated remarkable confidence in God:Daniel 3:17–18 (NKJV)“Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace... But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods...” Child of God, one of the clearest ways you demonstrate that you trust God is by refusing to compromise your convictions when obedience becomes costly.There will be moments when an opportunity may appear attractive because it offers money, promotion, influence, relationships, pleasure, acceptance, or recognition. But you must ask yourself:“Is this worth compromising my relationship with God?” Remember, God does not need sin to bless you. You do not have to compromise your values to enter your destiny.Therefore, do not trade what is eternal for what is temporary.Do not exchange your relationship with God for an offer that will eventually disappear.Do not sell your convictions for temporary comfort.Stand firm. Remain pure. Walk in holiness. Trust God. When you refuse to compromise because you believe God is able to sustain you, you are demonstrating genuine reliance upon Him.
