  • Let's talk about it.
    WHEN CONTROL OUTPACES FAITH

    Genesis 27:5–13, 28:1–5

"Now Rebekah was listening as Isaac spoke to his son Esau... Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'Look, I heard your father say to your brother Esau, "Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat... so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the Lord before I die." Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you...'"
    — Genesis 27:5–8

Rebekah was a woman who knew the promises of God. Years earlier, while pregnant with twins, God gave her a direct revelation: "The elder will serve the younger" (Genesis 25:23). She knew Jacob was destined to carry the spiritual mantle of Abraham’s lineage.

However, as she watched Isaac prepare to bestow the primary family blessing on Esau, panic took root. She saw human favoritism threatening a divine promise—and she decided God needed her help.

Rebekah’s response is deeply human and intensely relatable:

She substituted scheming for supplication: Rather than bringing her distress to God in prayer or confronting Isaac in honest dialogue, she crafted a deceptive blueprint.

She bore the moral weight alone: When Jacob expressed fear of being caught, Rebekah responded, "My son, let the curse fall on me" (Genesis 27:13). Her maternal instinct to protect and position her favorite son led her to rationalize sin.

The painful aftermath: Jacob got the blessing, but the cost was severe. The family fractured instantly. Jacob had to flee for his life, and scripture gives no indication that Rebekah ever saw her beloved son again before her death.

God never requires our sin to fulfill His promises. When we force God's timeline through human maneuvering, we often inherit the promise wrapped in unnecessary sorrow.

Rebekah’s story isn't just an ancient family drama; it's a mirror reflecting our own struggles with control, family dynamics, and trust.

Where are you trying to force an outcome? Are there situations in your career, relationships, or family where you feel tempted to manipulate circumstances because you don't trust God to handle them?

Are you taking responsibility for things God hasn't asked you to carry? Rebekah felt the weight of securing Jacob’s future. Trusting God means acknowledging that His sovereignty does not depend on our control.

    Action steps for today:

Step 1 (Identify/Unload Control): Name one fear or outcome you are currently trying to control or manipulate.

Step 2 (Surrender/Confess & Release): Speak it out in prayer, acknowledging that God’s methods are as important as His promises.

Step 3 (Trust/Rest in Sovereignty): Practice waiting. Allow God to work without stepping in to "fix" the timeline.

Lord, thank You that Your plans cannot be thwarted by human weakness, yet forgive me for the times I try to take Your place. I confess that like Rebekah, I often let fear convince me that I must take matters into my own hands.

Help me to trust Your timing and Your methods. Give me the courage to wait on You rather than rushing ahead in my own strength. Guard my heart from manipulation, and teach me to rest in the security of Your sovereign care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Spend the remaining minutes in quietness with this question: "What is one area of my life where I need to step down from the director's chair and let God work in His own way?"

  • “QUIT DUMBING DOWN THE WORD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD”
    Texts: Jeremiah 23:28–29 • Hebrews 4:12 • 2 Timothy 4:1–5 • Revelation 2–3
INTRO WHEN GOD SENDS A SOUND
There are moments when God doesn’t whisper.
    He doesn’t nudge.
    He doesn’t suggest.
    He ROARS.
He releases a sound that shakes nations, rattles churches, exposes idols, and summons His people back to the ancient, unshakable, unchanging truth of His Word.
This is not a teaching moment.
This is not a gentle reminder.
This is a clarion call a trumpet blast from the throne of the Most High.
Because the church has grown too comfortable with:
    a gospel that costs nothing
    a discipleship that demands nothing
    a Christianity that confronts nothing
    a Word that changes nothing
But the Spirit of the Lord is thundering:
    “ENOUGH.
    QUIT DUMBING DOWN MY WORD.”

    I. THE WORD OF GOD IS A VOLCANO NOT A VIBE
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not My word like fire… and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”
    A. The Word is not a suggestion it is a SUPERNATURAL FORCE
The Word is not meant to be cute.
It is not meant to be comfortable.
It is not meant to be culturally acceptable.
    It is meant to ERUPT.
    It is meant to BREAK.
    It is meant to BURN.
    It is meant to TRANSFORM.
    B. We have turned the Lion of Judah into a housecat
We preach Him like He needs our help.
We present Him like He needs our approval.
We treat His Word like it needs our editing.
But the Lion does not need permission to roar.
    C. The Word is not fragile WE ARE
The modern church acts like Scripture is too harsh.
No our flesh is too soft.

II. THE WORD OF GOD IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE
    Hebrews 4:12 “Sharper than any two-edged sword…”
    A. A sword that never cuts is a decoration
If the Word never wounds your flesh, it will never heal your soul.
    B. The gospel is not meant to be “relatable” it is meant to be REVOLUTIONARY
Jesus didn’t come to fit in.
    He came to overthrow.
    He came to disrupt.
He came to divide light from darkness.
    C. Revival does not come through comfort it comes through CONFRONTATION
Every revival in history began when the Word was preached without apology.

III. THE CHURCH HAS LOST ITS APPETITE FOR TRUTH
2 Timothy 4:3 — “They will not endure sound doctrine…”
    A. We have raised believers who want inspiration, not instruction
They want sermons that make them feel good, not sermons that make them holy.
    B. We have created a Christianity that avoids the cross
    We preach resurrection without repentance.
    We preach blessing without obedience.
    We preach grace without transformation.
    C. We have replaced the altar with an audience
People don’t come to be changed they come to be entertained.
But revival does not come to the entertained.
Revival comes to the broken, the hungry, the repentant, the desperate.

IV. GOD IS CALLING HIS PEOPLE BACK TO THE HARD TRUTHS
This is the revival cry the trumpet blast the shaking of the foundations:
    1. Return to the FEAR OF THE LORD
    Not fear of culture.
    Not fear of criticism.
    Not fear of losing followers.
    Fear of the Most High.
    2. Return to HOLINESS
    Holiness is not legalism.
    Holiness is not optional.
Holiness is the standard of the Kingdom.
    3. Return to REPENTANCE
    Not excuses.
    Not explanations.
    Repentance.
    4. Return to OBEDIENCE
    Not partial obedience.
    Not convenient obedience.
    Total obedience.
    5. Return to DOCTRINE
Doctrine taught to us is not boring, it is the backbone of revival.
    6. Return to the FULL COUNSEL OF GOD
Not the parts that make people shout.
Not the parts that make people comfortable.
    All of it.

    V. ILLUSTRATION — THE WATERED-DOWN ANTIDOTE
A city is dying from a deadly poison.
A doctor has the antidote — pure, potent, life-saving.
But he waters it down so people won’t complain about the taste.
    They drink it.
    They smile.
They feel better for a moment.
But they die because the antidote lost its power.
This is what happens when the church waters down the Word.

VI. THE FINAL REVIVAL CALL — LET THE WORD BE THE WORD
This is not the hour for soft preaching.
This is not the hour for diluted doctrine.
This is not the hour for comfortable Christianity.
    This is the hour for:
    Fire
    Repentance
    Holiness
    Truth
    Boldness
    Conviction
    Unfiltered Scripture
    Let the fire burn.
    Let the hammer break.
    Let the sword cut.
    Let the truth thunder.
    Let the Word stand.
Quit dumbing down the Word of The Most High God
and let revival shake the earth.

  • Hello everyone!

I'm Cole and it's a blessing to know you. I hope my thoughts won't mind you as it's a lot and some have said, "quite unique", like my food preferences. Sometimes, it may be a bit crazy, or just plain and relatable. I know, I know it will reach you at the right moment. To bless you, to surprise you maybe even confuse you, over all I know it will stick to you!
With that being said, I'll pray for you and I pray you find this post well.

    Sincerely,
    Cole

  • Vlad Savchuk (Make the Devil Homeless) ...
As a young teenager, I got hooked on pornography without the help of smartphones, the internet, or social media.
My neighbor had asked me to mind his cats while he was on vacation.

Being new to the United States, I was curious to see how other people lived. So I watched some VHS tapes I found in his closet. Something changed in me that day. Immediately I felt guilty and repented. But the pull was too strong. I kept returning to watch more videos. My only hope for stopping was for my neighbor to return and take back his keys.

At the time, I thought the issue was simply the lust of the flesh—a sin I needed to repent of and forsake. That’s true for some people, but I kept falling back into pornography no matter how many times I repented. It was as though porn would find me. I would stumble upon it in the most unlikely places, including Christian bookstores. I felt targeted, and I wondered whether something deeper than the lust of the flesh was involved.
Eventually I realized that when you’re addicted, you’ve got company. I’m not saying that every addicted person has a demon, but I soon realized that I did. A book opened my eyes to my struggle I understood that I’d been dealing with the symptoms of my issue but missing the root cause. I was trying to eliminate spiderwebs without taking care of the spider. My self-deliverance began with fasting and prayer, and lust lost its grip on my life. But complete deliverance happened later. Although I believe in self-deliverance and will soon guide you through the steps, were very productive: The spirits of Leviathan, Jezebel, death, and lust were all cast out.
You might wonder how I knew which spirits came out. Well, they spoke.
I thought my problems had started with my exposure to pornography, but there was a deeper issue. Lust was a small demon running errands for the bigger spirit of death. And death itself did the bidding of higher-level spirits like Leviathan and Jezebel. To get to the root of my addiction, I also had to confront and renounce generational curses, especially curses of death.
    NOT-SO-HARMLESS ENTERTAINMENT
In Western culture we often see demons through the lens of movies, art, and entertainment. Movies have thrilled audiences by portraying demons as terrifying forces that possess people, haunt houses, and wreak havoc. Movies like The Exorcist, The Conjuring, and Paranormal Activity depict demons as powerful and almost unbeatable beings. As these films provide glimpses of demonic activity, they often become open doors through which the demons on the screen inhabit movie-goers who sought only to be entertained.
Other films and shows normalize demons, turning them into antiheroes or misunderstood creatures. Movies like Hellboy and shows such as Lucifer glamorize demons, presenting them as relatable and even sympathetic characters. This approach deceives people into seeing demons as harmless beings who do good. This deception dulls spiritual discernment and causes people to ignore the dangers of demonic influence.
Video games and fantasy stories often use demons as plot devices, including enemies to defeat, bosses to fight, or powers to harness. In games like Doom, Diablo, or Dark Souls, demons are presented as dark, destructive enemies. Harmless as games might seem, they create a fascination with the demonic. Players can become desensitized to the reality of spiritual warfare or drawn to explore occult ideas out of curiosity. Some games go further, allowing characters to use demonic powers or work alongside demons. This is another open door to the demonic.
Today’s culture swings between two extremes where demons are concerned. On one hand, demons are presented as terrifying and all-powerful. This approach opens the door to fear. On the other hand, demons are glamorized, normalized, and even mocked as harmless characters who do nothing more than entertain us. This deludes people and makes them more spiritually vulnerable.

  • Dear Father,

There is an attribute the natural man rarely pays attention to, perhaps because the cost seems to outweigh the benefits, and because, unlike the pursuit of material things, this one requires mastery: efforts consistently applied until not just the man, but heaven and earth themselves, testify that he has gained mastery over himself. One of the greatest achievements a man can attain in his lifetime is self-mastery.

I came across a passage in Scripture which says, “Encourage the young men to be self-controlled.” The very mention of self-control can feel restrictive, in how the subject “anger management” might first seem like a more relatable substitute.

Yet self-control cuts across all spheres of our lives: in the unrestricted and uncontrolled reach of our appetites; the borderless and unsettling freedom of our sexual desires; the unguarded indulgence in sleep; the silence of prayerlessness and the neglect of spiritual hunger; the habit of postponement; and the absence of commitment to a worthy course. Father, I could send a list full of related cases, and even a library may not be enough.

So the question lingers on my mind: how much of all these do we take into consideration? Yet one of the greatest attainments of a man is found in the mastery he has over himself.

*It was around 1941 when Nazi brutality was getting to its height that a Polish Franciscan Priest named Maximilian Kolbe became the symbol of sacrificial death for others during _World War II._ The inspiring incident happened in the Auschwitz concentration camp, when he voluntarily took the place of a fellow prisoner, Franciszek Gajowniczek, who was condemned to die. Kolbe offered his life so that Gajowniczek, a husband and father, could live. This monumental and inspiring act is now tagged: _"The Sacrifice of Maximilian Kolbe (1941)"._*

*Apart from the iconic sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Himself, this relatable story has inspired generations of believers and missionaries to consider nothing too precious to give up in order to rescue people from impending damnation. There have been countless number of missionaries that have paid the supreme price in South America, Africa, Asia and elsewhere. Others faced the harshness of the _Iron Curtain_ nations in the Communist era, and confronted other hostile communities in an attempt to share Christ's gospel of redemption.*

*Kolbe's act of selfless love and sacrifice no doubt mirrors the infinitely greater redemptive love of Christ that believers must model. Of course, the narratives in the New Testament and the actual historical event of His passion, agonising prayer at Gethsemane, betrayal by one of His close disciples, His kangaroo court trials, cruel treatment, mocking and eventual crucifixion, only affirm His sacrificial love for mankind.*

*It is said that when Jesus was nailed to the cross, our sin was also nailed there. He was punished so that we will be set free from condemnation. He died so that we can live. As prophetically revealed in the Scripture, Christ paid a high price for our salvation.*

*There are a few lessons we need to take away from this meditation. These include our obligation to reciprocate that sacrifice through our unconditional love for Christ and His sheep; our total submission to His perfect will; our commitment to take the gospel message to others, lest His suffering and death at Calvary be a waste in the lives of those who may perish without hearing and receiving the good news.*

  • Dear Father,

I came across a wedding ceremony between two women, and I was shocked. It’s not the first time I have seen something like this, but this time, I knew one of the women involved. There have been many reports as to why people of the same sex become attracted to each other. While some reasons are linked to traumatic pasts, others believe they were born that way, and still others desire the freedom to express their choices.

Today, I found a prophecy in Scripture which says: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days, and people will be lovers of themselves.” It is shocking to see the questionable heights we have reached in exercising our will, and how easily what was once considered wrong can become acceptable.

In striving to give expression to sinful desires, the enemy treads on what seems like legal ground. What better way to legitimize an abominable act than to present strong, relatable reasons? For instance, after being raped by a woman, a lady may become attracted to other women--empathetic, emotive, perhaps even understandable, yet still a subtle framework of deceit, and, in a way, a fulfillment of prophecy.

When clouded by emotions arising from traumatic experiences, we may find it difficult to recognize deception. What was once rejected becomes normalized and gradually woven into culture. Father, open my eyes to recognize the lies within my reasoning.

  • Dear Father,

There’s a man in Scripture I love so much. The passage about him says, “Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the publicans, was rich. And he sought to see Jesus, who He was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was little of stature. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him.”

I am particularly drawn to this scripture because it describes a relatable struggle in our faith walk. Zacchaeus, despite being rich, could not see Jesus because he was small in stature. I find myself pondering the many reasons that are, in fact, justifiable, yet limiting in our pursuit of You.

At times, it may seem impossible to balance the demands of the day with our scheduled time with You. And other times, it feels easier to rest on the thought that You understand, because You see how difficult things can get. But Zacchaeus did something notable--he climbed a tree to see Jesus.

I believe this speaks to how our walk with You may sometimes require us to seek creative ways to fellowship with You. I recall my brother once said, “Daily, fight to have a moment with God.”

Father, keeping our time with You may sometimes require a fight.
