People might rise against you, tough situations may challenge you, and foes may seem to have the upper hand, but God has the power to dismantle their plans and confidence. The outcome of the battle isn’t dictated by what you see right now; it’s determined by the God who holds the ultimate authority. When God takes charge, the enemy’s strength starts to diminish. Additionally, the verse mentions they “shall be afraid.” This signifies a divine turnaround: those who sought to instill fear in David ended up being the ones who were afraid. God can flip situations in ways you might never have imagined. What once made you anxious can transform into your story of triumph. So, don’t let fear dictate your life when facing opposition. Place your trust in God, for He is greater than any challenge that stands in your way. The phrase “out of their close places” implies that even the safest hiding spots can’t shield those who oppose God’s plans. What may be concealed from you is never hidden from God. You don’t have to uncover every secret scheme or battle every hidden conflict on your own. God sees what you can’t, and He’s fully capable of revealing, thwarting, and overturning anything that goes against His will. Trust Him to take care of what’s beyond your control. The heart of Psalm 18:45 reveals a powerful truth: divine intervention and reversal. You might start your fight feeling scared, overwhelmed, and unsure, but that doesn’t mean you have to end it that way. God has the ability to transform your fear into bravery, your struggles into stories of triumph, and your battles into victories. Remember, the enemy doesn’t get the last say—God does. So, stand strong, keep your faith, and trust in the Lord, because the same God who rescued David is more than capable of delivering you today.

Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you. It is early this morning. My eyes are barely open. However, that usually makes for a very entertaining post with the wrong word choices, punctuation, and overall topic. Have you ever gotten an idea in your head that you could accomplish something in a certain way or amount of time and were determined to prove it could happen? You knew that all you had to do was stay focused, keep pressing on, and not allow a little thing like… oh, let’s say… nightfall stop you. That was me yesterday. The gent that I borrowed the mower from to mow my yard brought it back yesterday and I jumped on the opportunity to get the rental yard done and part of mine. In my mind, after I returned home from the rental, I had enough time to mow the back-back yard. Oh, let me tell you, I was really cooking too. I was getting her done. UNTIL. Yep, the sun was going down faster than I could push that mower. Yet, me … being me … said to myself, “Self, you can still see the last set of tire tracks for the return run … keep going.” I did this until I could barely see to get back to the house. Haha. Final verdict: NO, I did not finish that part of the yard, but I did get 98 percent of it done. The 2 percent that is still there, uncut … in the covering of trees and there was absolutely no light. As I am racing the sinking sun ball, I am thinking to myself two thoughts … 1. You should have known it was too late to get this done, and 2. I am going to get it and show everyone it was possible. Bouncing through the rough patches of the yard, moving as quickly and safely as possible, and still making the yard look good. I was determined. The closer I got to the finish line, the more excited I got that I would actually accomplish this particular task. I even mowed some of the tree-capped lane out of sequence because I knew it would be difficult to see. Hindsight, I should have done both sections of the tree-capped area; however, I did not. Thus, there is a small tree-capped area I need to finish today. When I finally gave up and put the mower away, I was actually excited to tell my little story of ‘how close’ I came. Then listen to everyone’s bets on whether I would keep going after the moon was fully in bloom in the sky. It made for a great story and giggle fest. Have you ever been in a situation when, though the time frame in which you really have to get something done is not as long as you thought, but you are determined to complete the task in that allotted time anyway? Did you make it and celebrate or did you fall a little short? If you fell short, how did you defeat? Myself, I made fun of the race I had with the sun and moon and created a fun story and memory. When we fall short of a goal, whether it's realistically capable or sketchy at best, how we handle the end result is the true prize. If success is in the air, do we boast to the point of arrogance, or do we boast to the satisfaction of a job well done? But if it is not success, do we sulk and find excuses or problems that were clouding the path to success … or … do we see the accomplishment and celebrate what we did accomplish? The result in our hearts is completely our choice. I did not look at the clock last night, when I returned from the rental property. If I had, I may have thought against the attempt to mow in the back part of the property. Why? I know how long it takes; I know when the sun is going to disappear, and I know the odds. However, I rolled the dice on a beautiful night’s temperature and chose to swing for the fences. The result: a nearly complete mowed back portion with only 5-10 minutes left. Today, as you go about your daily routines, think about how you are looking at your to-do list. Is it overwhelming or is it just a staircase that you will succeed at one step at a time … until you reach the top landing? When your day comes to an end today, how will you look at your to-do list? Was it a grand slam and everything got accomplished? Was it a triple down the first base line in the corner and nearly everything got accomplished? Was it a triple down the left-field line, nearly everything got accomplished, but it was a close play at the bag? Was it a bunt for a single or a sacrifice? In any one of these scenarios, you choose how you view the outcome. I suggest you view them all as victories and keep the overwhelming Light of Love in full view of your day. Because God made us, we didn’t make Him. A god you can make is a god you can control and make do whatever you wish. The ancient Greeks had a host of gods, all created by men. Some demanded human sacrifice; others permitted prostitution and even promoted it in their temples. When we reverse the order and start to create God in our own image (according to our own imagination) we get the following things: 1) A god who’s liberal or conservative, a hawk or a dove; a god politicians conveniently pull out of a box at election time to gain votes even though they don’t truly serve him. 2) A flexible god who permits you to do whatever you want, and you can then say, ‘I just felt led to do it.’ 3) A god who promises to bless his children but never discipline them. 4) A god you can ‘keep in his place’ until you need him. 5) A god who is not supreme but happy to be one of many deities offering many ways to heaven. Not so! God says, ‘I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no saviour.’ Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’ (John 14:6 NKJV). But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul"_ (Hebrews 10:38,39). *INTRODUCTION* 40 years have passed now when they left Egypt with great joy and hope coupled with triumph over the oppressive and terrorizing Egyptians. Little did they know the challenges that will greet them on the way. A few days journey from Kadesh to Jordan turned to 40 years. All the adults, except Caleb and Joshua, who left Egypt died without reaching the promised Canaan. Unfortunately, Moses, their faithful leader, including their high priest Aaron, and Miriam the Women Leader were painfully casualties. They just finished mourning Moses for 30 days. That was not their plan and expectations when they left Egypt. However, they must move on and enter the land of promise after all those setbacks. This takes courage and faith in God. The Christian life is similar especially, when the heart is not sanctified. Starting with the indescribable Joy of Salvation, the journey to heaven began. But unexpectedly, along the way, there are battles to fight, divine disciplines to endure and challenges meant to perfect that will be experienced. Those experiences and setbacks should not becloud our forward march to heaven; we must keep moving on until we enter the promised heaven. The Apostles were said to be *"Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom"* (Acts 14:22). *1. The Command to be Observed with Unwavering Faith* a. Joshua commanded the captains to *"Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals"*. Some people who willingly obey the commandments in their work places, public transports, whether land, air or sea, deride commandments when it comes from God through church leaders or shepherds. Some refused or stopped going to church because of their hate for commandments. They often talk of human rights, human free will etc when commandments are given by God through His ministers. The truth is that no man, no matter how wise or intelligent, can live happily or successfully in the world without learning to listen to instructions or commandments and follow them in every sphere of life. The Word of God is filled with instructions and commandment because none can claim to know the correct and fulfilling routes in life when he has never passed through it. Human security, safety, fulfillment and joy are tied to the ability to hear, listen and obey godly instructions and commandments. The 'dos' and 'don'ts' of the Word of God, which carnal minds reject, are actually, the path way to a happy and fulfilling life. b. Moses, their Prophet par excellence who used to see and hear from God directly was gone. Yet they did not idolize Moses that since Moses was gone all hope was lost. Their confidence was in God without any cult personality. True believers should not see any of their leaders as a cult personality to idolize. Cult personality in the household of faith is carnality and idol worship in action. Any God-given leader at any time should be obeyed and followed because it is the commandment of God and His Word that matters most and not the human vessel. Israel lost nothing as a result of the death of Moses. The same God who moved mightily in Moses also moved greatly in Joshua that Israel never regretted the death of Moses. The Command of Joshua was military in nature, but obeying it will require courage and faith. *"Within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it"*. Looking back, many souls have died without receiving the promise. Looking forward to Jordan that it would take a great miracle like it happened in the Red Sea before they could pass. However, Joshua gave the commandment as if the Jordan challenge was not there. Israel also did not raise alarm about the humanly impassable Jordan. They all jointly and unitedly believed God that crossing was a done deal since it was God who commanded and God had done it before. We must move on by faith to the hope set before us with courage. Since God has promised to take us to heaven, no need to fear the assault of persistent temptations, the murmurs of persecutions and afflictions, the threat of marital and career setbacks and the cruel dread of principalities and power. Just move on in obedience and faith according to His Word and be sure you will land on the other side of the river. *Question* Have you decided to continue the journey to the end no matter the challenges on the way? *2.Care to be Offered to the Unsettled Families* a. The Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh were given their land and possession before they crossed the Jordan River. Now that the soldiers of those tribes were settled, it was tempting for them to quit the journey and go to their rest. Moses settled that need for genuine brotherly love before he died. Joshua recalled that because he knew that the commandment of God does not die with the vessel that God used to declare it. He said, *"Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land"*. The vulnerable were to stay behind in the promised land while their soldiers joined the remaining Israelites to fight the Canaanites. There was no rest for them until their brethren had rest. Obeying that would require faith and a golden caring heart. First, who would protect those vulnerable two and half tribes when all their soldiers leave them behind? David did that for his wives and vulnerable followers in Ziklag and the Amalekites overran the wives and carried away everything belonging to them. Was that commandment of Moses reasonable? It was reasonable since it was given by God. It was reasonable because faith in God would not be disappointed. It was reasonable because the law of love is stronger than the law of self protection. This is the lesson for us as to how God works. b. *"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill ye the law of Christ"* (Galatians 6:2). Any law, policy or principle that does not visibly reflect the care and love for one another in the family, church and among neighbours is not of God no matter how the world exalts it. Practical and sacrificial care for one another is the hall mark of Christianity. When that is missing, the Christian faith is not different from other religions. Believers should lighten burdens of others, wiping off bitter tears, relieving the oppressed, putting the balm of Gilead in the troubled souls in addition to assisting and supporting others through prayer. Selfishness, self interest, self protection, self respect, etc.are being imported into the church as wisdom, but they are not Christlike. *"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others"* (Philippians 2:4). This is a commandment. *Question* Are you practically bearing others burdens or are you hypocritically selfish? *3. Consecration to Obedience and Unity by the Faithful* a. Christian consecration is the solemn act of setting apart a person, place or thing from ordinary, secular use and dedicating it entirely to God and holy purposes. This includes consecration to do and obey the Word of God. It is difficult in these last days of superficial christianity and devotion to deliberately, doggedly and determinedly stick to the Word of God without definite consecrations. When it comes to unity among brethren, many things often threaten unity and it takes consecration with godly unity in order to ensure the unity of the saints. This is needful because the victory, the blessings and divine visitations on a people are tightly connected to unity. Unity must be encouraged and enforced in order to enjoy God's bests. *"Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace"*. We must preach it, pray for it, practice it and pass it on to the future generations. Would the Holy Spirit have descended on the Early Church if they were not united in the Upper Room? If the Trinity is not united, what would the world look like? *"And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go"*. It takes deliberate consecration to God to obey all the commandments of God without complaining. It takes consecration to follow a man of like passion wholeheartedly. Consecrations are milestones to spiritual maturity and profitability in the hands of God. The engineer was brought on his bed to the scene of the beautiful bridge spanning the wide river. As he watched for the first time as cars sped over the bridge, and as he looked at the blueprints which he held in his hands, tears began to fill his eyes, and he cried out, "It's just like the plan; it's just like the plan." Undoubtedly, the sense of accomplishment brought tears of joy to the eyes of the intelligent and fulfilled engineer. His good works serve humanity! What a lesson! We must live to add value to others.* *Today's passage centres on the preparation of Israel to go in and possess the Promised Land under the able leadership of Joshua, the son of Nun, the commander of the army of Israel after the death of Moses. This time, they were on the verge of entering Canaan. Strategically, he told the army to prepare, and he reminded the three tribes: Reuben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh of their promise to Moses that they would cross the River Jordan and fight alongside the nine and the half tribes until they possessed their inheritance before returning to settle on the east side of Jordan. The tribal leaders affirmed their commitment and promised to follow Joshua as they followed Moses, irrespective of the challenges ahead.* *The salient lesson here include the unity among the tribes, cooperation with the leader, and Joshua's uncompromising, indefatigable leadership style that gave Israel the edge. As a result, the nation won battles, conquered adversaries, and possessed the Promised Land.* *Families, churches, societies and nations that desire victory in life's battles and challenges must follow the same pattern. Beyond earthly victories and possessions, there is an enduring possession in heaven for the saints of God. Strength Is Found in Faithfulness Scripture Judges 16:28 (NKJV) Then Samson called to the LORD, saying, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes. God Can Restore the Repentant Judges 16 records one of the most tragic chapters in Samson's life. God had uniquely called him from birth to be a Nazirite and a deliverer of Israel. The Lord had given him extraordinary strength through the power of the Holy Spirit, yet Samson repeatedly compromised with temptation instead of walking in obedience. His relationship with Delilah exposed the weakness that had been growing in his heart. Rather than guarding the calling God had entrusted to him, Samson toyed with sin until it eventually overcame him. After revealing the secret connected to his Nazirite vow, his hair was cut, the Lord's empowering presence departed from him, and the Philistines captured him. They blinded him, bound him, and forced him into humiliating labor. One of the saddest statements in Scripture is that Samson did not realize that the LORD had departed from him. Sin had gradually dulled his spiritual awareness until he no longer recognized what he had lost. Yet God's grace had not reached its end. While Samson was imprisoned, his hair began to grow again. More importantly, his heart turned back to God. At the end of his life, Samson finally humbled himself and prayed. He no longer trusted in his own strength but cried out for God's strength. His final victory came not because of his ability but because of God's mercy. God answered Samson's prayer. Though Samson suffered the consequences of his disobedience, God restored him for one final act that accomplished more than many of his earlier victories. This chapter reminds believers that compromise always carries consequences, but repentance opens the door to God's mercy. Our failures do not have to be the end of our story when we return to the Lord with sincere humility. God delights in restoring those who genuinely repent and place their trust in Him. Reflection Questions 1. Is there any area of compromise that I need to confess before it grows into greater bondage? 2. Am I relying on my own strength instead of God's power? 3. Have I allowed failure to keep me from returning to the Lord, or am I trusting in His restoring grace? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy and Your willingness to restore those who turn back to You. Guard my heart from compromise and help me to walk faithfully in the calling You have given me. When I fail, lead me quickly to repentance and remind me that Your grace is greater than my weakness. Depending on God After Victory Scripture Judges 15:18 (NKJV) Then he became very thirsty; so he cried out to the LORD and said, You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? Depending on God After Victory Victory can sometimes become one of the greatest tests of our faith. Before a battle we often pray with urgency, but after a victory we can easily forget how dependent we still are on God. In Judges 15, Samson experienced an incredible victory over the Philistines because the Spirit of the Lord empowered him. Yet immediately afterward, he became exhausted and overwhelmed with thirst. At that moment, Samson realized that the same God who gave him victory was also the One who could sustain his life. Instead of trusting in his own strength, Samson cried out to the Lord. He acknowledged that the victory was not his own achievement but God's deliverance. His strength had limits, but God's power did not. God answered Samson's prayer by providing water, refreshing him, and restoring his strength. This reminds us that God not only equips us for the battle but also cares for us after the battle. He is concerned with both our victories and our weaknesses. Many believers experience spiritual victories only to become weary afterward. Ministry, serving others, overcoming temptation, or walking through difficult seasons can leave us physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. God never intended for us to live on yesterday's strength. He invites us to seek Him daily for fresh grace, renewed strength, and continual dependence upon Him. The Christian life is not sustained by past victories but by a present relationship with the Lord. Every day we need His wisdom, His strength, and His provision. Success should never replace surrender, and victories should always lead us back to worship. Reflection Questions 1. After seasons of victory, do I continue to depend on God for daily strength? 2. Am I giving God the glory for the victories He has brought into my life? 3. Where do I need God's refreshing and renewal today? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for every victory You have given me. Help me never to rely on my own strength or become prideful because of past successes. Teach me to remain fully dependent on You every day. Refresh my spirit when I am weary, renew my strength when I feel exhausted, and remind me that every good thing comes from Your hand. May every victory draw me closer to You and deepen my trust in Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR Key Scriptures: Romans 8:37; 1 John 5:4; Philippians 4:13 Life can throw some tough battles, challenges, and opposition your way, but as a believer in Christ, remember this: you’re not fighting for victory—you’re fighting from a place of victory. Your identity isn’t that of a victim; you’re a victor because Jesus Christ has already triumphed over sin, death, and the forces of darkness. The Bible confidently states, "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). No matter what you’re up against today, the power of God within you is far greater than any obstacle in your path. Throughout the Scriptures, we see how God granted ordinary people extraordinary victories simply because they placed their trust in Him. Take David, for instance—he took down Goliath with unwavering confidence in the name of the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45–50). Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land because God was right there with him (Joshua 1:5–9). And then there’s Paul, who faced persecution, imprisonment, and all sorts of hardships, yet he remained steadfast because Christ was his strength (2 Corinthians 11:23–28; Philippians 4:13). Their victories weren’t about their own skills; they were all about God’s faithfulness and power working through them. Whatever battle you’re facing today, don’t give in to fear or discouragement. "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world" (1 John 5:4). The same God who granted victories to His servants in the past is fighting for you right now. Stand firm in your faith, keep trusting in His promises, and move forward with confidence. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13). You are more than a conqueror—not because of your own strength, but because Christ lives in you. Your victory is assured, your future is bright, and your greatest triumph is still on the horizon. 🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 233 DATE: 21ST AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: RELY ON THE LORD ANCHOR SCRIPTURE2 Chronicles 13:18 (NKJV) “Thus the children of Israel were subdued at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the LORD God of their fathers.” Devotional message: Scripture is filled with testimonies of men and women who placed their confidence entirely in God and experienced victory. Their strength was not in their human ability, resources, experience, or influence; their confidence was in the Lord. Our anchor Scripture gives us a powerful explanation for Judah's victory: “They prevailed because they relied on the LORD.” Their victory was connected to their dependence upon God. Consider Jehoshaphat. When three nations came against Judah and the situation appeared impossible, he did not place his confidence in military strength. He sought the Lord. As Judah worshipped, God intervened and caused their enemies to fight against one another. What Judah could not accomplish through human strength, God accomplished through His divine intervention. We also see this principle in the battle against Amalek. Moses stood on the mountain with the rod of God, while Joshua fought below. As Moses lifted his hands, Israel prevailed; when his hands became heavy and came down, Amalek prevailed. Aaron and Hur therefore supported his hands until victory was secured. There are battles where our greatest strength is not what we can do, but our posture of dependence upon God. David lived by this principle. Before many battles, he inquired of the Lord. Even when he encountered Goliath, his confidence was not in his previous victories, weapons, or military experience. David understood that the size of the enemy could never be greater than the power of the God he trusted. Child of God, where is your confidence today?Perhaps you are facing an examination, a business challenge, difficulties in your marriage, a ministry assignment, financial pressure, opposition, or a situation that appears beyond your ability. Do not make yourself your ultimate source.Your education is valuable, but it is not your ultimate source.Your experience is valuable, but it is not your ultimate source.Your connections are valuable, but they are not your ultimate source.Your resources are valuable, but they are not your ultimate source. The Lord is your source.This does not mean that we abandon preparation, wisdom, diligence, planning, or responsible action. Rather, it means that we do all these things while depending upon God instead of depending upon ourselves.
