  • Joy in Dying as a Believer

    Friday June 19

    Acts 20:24 (KJV)
“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”

This verse comes from the apostle Paul as he is heading toward Jerusalem, fully aware that hardship—and possibly death—awaits him. Yet his response is not fear. It’s clarity. And even more, it’s joy.

    1. A life no longer held tightly

Paul says, “I count my life not dear unto myself.”
That doesn’t mean life has no value. It means his life is no longer something he clings to for self-preservation or comfort.

For a believer, death loses its final authority because Christ has already secured eternal life. So life becomes a vessel, not a possession.

    2. Joy comes from finishing, not avoiding

Paul’s joy isn’t in escaping danger—it’s in finishing the course.
There is a deep spiritual shift here: joy is not tied to survival, but to faithfulness.

“so that I might finish my course with joy”

That means a believer can face the end of earthly life with peace when they know they’ve lived in obedience and purpose.

    3. Death is not loss, but completion

For Paul, dying is not tragic defeat—it is the completion of a mission.
The believer’s “course” is not cut short by death; it is concluded.

This is why Scripture consistently describes death for believers as “sleep” or “being with Christ,” not annihilation.

    4. The real source of his courage

Paul’s strength is not personality or bravery—it is his calling:

“the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus”

When a life is anchored in Christ’s calling, even death cannot undo its meaning.

    5. What this means for a believer today

Acts 20:24 doesn’t romanticize suffering—it redefines it. It teaches:

    * Your life is not random
    * Your calling is greater than your comfort
    * Your death is not your end
    * Your obedience is what matters most

So even in facing mortality, the believer can say:
“I am not being taken—I am being completed.”

    Closing thought
Joy in dying, for a believer, is not emotional excitement about death itself. It is the settled confidence that Christ is worth everything, and nothing—even death—can separate you from Him or cancel your purpose.

Jesus spoke of heaven not to satisfy curiosity but to inspire faithfulness, hope, and trust. His teachings remind us that heaven is - Heaven Is a New Creation

"Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them."
    — Revelation 21:3

Jesus spoke about "the renewal of all things" (Matthew 19:28). The Bible's vision of eternity is not merely souls escaping earth; it is God renewing His creation.

The final picture of heaven is one of restoration, beauty, worship, fellowship, and God's presence filling all things. Heaven is not the end of God's story—it is the beginning of an eternal life in His perfected kingdom.

The future awaiting believers is not uncertain. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we have confidence that His promises are true. One day faith will become sight, and God's people will enjoy His presence forever.

    Prayer
Jesus, thank You for the hope of a new creation. Help me live with eternal perspective and confidence in Your promises. Keep my heart fixed on You until the day I see You face-to-face. Amen.

  • Joy in Persecution

    Thursday June 18

“And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.” (Acts 5:41, KJV)

This comes right after the apostles were beaten and commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus. Instead of bitterness or fear, they walked away with something unexpected joy.

Joy that doesn’t depend on comfort

Their joy wasn’t because the suffering felt good. It was because it meant something. They saw persecution as confirmation, not rejection. Being mistreated for Christ became evidence that they truly belonged to Him.

Worthy to suffer for His name

Most people avoid shame. The apostles embraced it—not because they loved pain, but because they loved Christ more than approval.

    There’s a quiet strength here:
If the world pushes you back because of your faith, it may actually be a sign you’re standing in the right place.

    Thursday June 18

Jesus spoke of heaven not to satisfy curiosity but to inspire faithfulness, hope, and trust. His teachings remind us that heaven is - Heaven Is a Kingdom of Righteousness

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." — Matthew 5:6

One reason our world feels broken is because injustice, sin, and evil still exist. Jesus taught that God's kingdom is coming in its fullness, and when it does, righteousness will reign.

In heaven there will be no corruption, hatred, violence, deception, or selfishness. God's perfect goodness will fill everything. Relationships will be healed. Love will be complete. Every wrong will ultimately be made right.

The longing we feel when we see injustice points us toward the future kingdom Jesus promised. Heaven is the home of perfect holiness and perfect love.

    Prayer
Father, help me live as a citizen of Your kingdom today. Give me a hunger for righteousness and confidence that Your justice will prevail. Amen.

    Today's Thought
Heaven is where God's goodness is experienced without any trace of evil.

  • Joy in Troubles

    Wednesday June 17

    James 1:2 (KJV)
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;”

James is not saying trials feel joyful—he’s saying they can be counted as joy because of what God produces through them.

Troubles don’t just test us; they refine us. Pressure reveals what faith is made of, and God uses it to grow something deeper than comfort: patience, maturity, and endurance.

When life feels scattered or heavy, this verse reframes it—our situation isn’t wasted ground. It’s growing ground.

So the “joy” isn’t in the pain itself, but in the confidence that God is still at work inside it, shaping something stronger than what existed before.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain."
    — Revelation 21:4

Although these words come from the vision given to John, they align perfectly with Jesus' mission to defeat sin, death, and suffering.

Every person carries wounds—grief, regret, sickness, disappointment, or pain. Heaven represents the complete restoration of what sin has broken. Death will no longer separate loved ones. Sickness will no longer weaken bodies. Fear and anxiety will have no place.

Jesus spent much of His earthly ministry healing people and restoring lives. Those miracles were signs of the greater restoration still to come. Heaven is the place where Christ's victory is fully realized.

    Prayer
Lord, thank You that pain and sorrow will not last forever. Strengthen me in present struggles and help me trust in Your promise of complete restoration. Amen.

  • Joy in Prayer

    Tuesday June 16

    John 16:24
“Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

Jesus connects prayer directly to joy—not just answered requests, but fullness of joy. The promise isn’t only that God hears, but that He invites us into a relationship where our needs, burdens, and desires are brought before Him openly.

Prayer is not meant to be reluctant or last-resort—it’s meant to be a pathway to joy. Why? Because when you ask God, you’re acknowledging dependence, and that dependence opens the door to trust, peace, and contentment in His timing.

Sometimes the answer is “yes,” sometimes “wait,” and sometimes “no”—but the joy Jesus speaks of is deeper than the outcome. It’s the joy of being heard by the Father who knows what you need before you ask.

    Simple takeaway:
Joy doesn’t come after prayer is answered.
Joy grows while you are praying —because you are not carrying it alone.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Come and share your master's happiness."

Jesus often described God's kingdom as a feast, a wedding banquet, and a celebration. These images reveal that heaven is not a place of boredom or endless inactivity. It is a place overflowing with joy.

Many people picture eternity as sitting on clouds doing very little. Yet Jesus' teachings point to vibrant life, meaningful worship, fellowship, and delight in God's presence.

  • Joy in Reading the Word of God

    Monday June 15

    Jeremiah 15:19 (KJV)
“Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me… and thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.”

There is a deep joy that comes when a heart turns back to God’s Word. In Jeremiah 15:19, God calls His servant away from discouragement and back into closeness with Him. The promise is not just restoration—it is purpose: “thou shalt be as my mouth.”

That is what Scripture does. It doesn’t only comfort; it realigns us. It pulls us out of confusion and brings us back to clarity. When we return to the Word, God strengthens what has grown weary, corrects what has drifted, and renews what has been broken.

The joy of reading God’s Word is not simply emotional happiness—it is the steady assurance that God is still speaking, still calling, and still restoring.

When life pulls you away, the invitation remains the same: return. And in that return, you find not only peace—but purpose again.

    Prayer
Lord, draw my heart back to Your Word. Restore my joy in reading it. Make me steady, faithful, and ready to speak what You say. Amen.

Jesus spoke of heaven not to satisfy curiosity but to inspire faithfulness, hope, and trust. His teachings remind us that - Heaven Is Being with Jesus

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." — John 14:3 (NIV)

When people think about heaven, they often imagine streets of gold, angels, or endless beauty. While Scripture describes wonderful things about heaven, Jesus emphasized something even greater: being with Him.

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus comforted His disciples by promising that He was preparing a place for them. Heaven is not merely a destination; it is the fulfillment of a relationship. The greatest joy of eternity will be seeing Jesus face-to-face and dwelling in His presence forever.

Whatever disappointments, loneliness, or losses we experience now will be overshadowed by the reality that we will never be separated from Christ again.

    Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for preparing a place for me. Help me remember that the greatest treasure of heaven is being with You. Increase my love for You and my anticipation of that day. Amen.

  • Not every conversation is worth having, not every influence is safe to take in, and not every argument is worth your time or energy. Sometimes, wisdom means to simply step away before you get drawn into frustration, wrongdoing, or confusion.

  • I AM THE DOOR

    John 10:7-9 NLT
I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.

Many doors in life promise happiness, success, security, or purpose, yet leave us empty. Jesus doesn't merely point to the door—He says, “I am the door.” He is the entrance into a relationship with God, the refuge for weary souls, and the Shepherd who leads His people to abundant life. When uncertainty surrounds us, we can rest knowing that the Door is open and His invitation still stands.

    Prayer
    Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus, the Door to salvation, peace, and eternal life. Help me to trust Him fully and not seek security in the things of this world. Lead me through every challenge and keep me close to Your heart. Thank You that through Christ I have forgiveness, protection, and the promise of abundant life. May I follow my Shepherd faithfully each day.

  • Eternal Life through Christ Jesus

    1 John 5:11-13
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John’s message in today’s verse is straightforward: “He who has the Son has life; he who does not, does not.” For Christians, this is a reminder that we can be confident—not just wishful—that eternal life is ours through Christ Jesus. For those who reject Him, Jesus will sadly say, “Depart from me, I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23, KJV).

These words can bring comfort to believers, but they might also unsettle those who choose not to believe, as despite hearing the message repeatedly, they’ve decided to deny Christ’s existence.

    Perhaps Today
I will make the decision to believe in the Son of God

  • Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for sustaining America through these past 250 years. Through wars and rumors of wars, through terroristic attacks, through seasons of depression, hardship, division, uncertainty, and loss, Your hand has still been upon this nation.

Lord, we thank You for the moments of joy, freedom, healing, courage, and unity You have allowed us to experience. We thank You for those who sacrificed, served, prayed, rebuilt, protected, and stood in the gap when times were difficult.

Father, forgive us where we have forgotten You. Turn our hearts back to righteousness, humility, truth, and compassion. Heal our land, strengthen our families, guide our leaders, protect our communities, and let America never forget that every blessing comes from You.

As we look back with gratitude, help us also look forward with faith. May the next chapter of this nation be marked by repentance, revival, courage, justice, mercy, and a renewed dependence on You.

Thank You, Lord, for sustaining America. Thank You for Your mercy in the storm and Your goodness in the joy.

    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Perhaps Today - Wisdom on Anger

    Wednesday June 10

Do Not Let Anger Control You

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”
    Ephesians 4:26 KJV

Anger itself is not always sin, but what we do with it matters. Holding on to anger gives it power over the heart. God invites us to deal with it before bitterness takes root.

    Something to Consider
When you are feeling angry, remove yourself from the situation, take a walk and talk to God first, let your mind settle down, then come back and restart the conversation with a clear head.
