Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this beautiful Sabbath morning. Thank You for life, for Your mercy, for Your protection, and for bringing us safely into a new day. Lord Jesus, help us to slow down today and remember that You are our Creator, our Provider, and our source of strength. Fill our hearts with peace and our homes with Your presence. Forgive us for the things we have done wrong, the words we have spoken carelessly, and the opportunities we have missed to do what is right. Give us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. Father, bless our families, our work, our businesses, and our plans. Give us wisdom to make good decisions, courage to face challenges, and patience to wait for Your timing. Where there is worry, bring peace. Where there is weakness, bring strength. Where there is confusion, bring direction. Where there is lack, provide. Where there is discouragement, restore hope. May this Sabbath remind us that our success does not come from our strength alone, but from You. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 Lord, guide us throughout this day. THE PILGRIMS GUIDE  SATURDAY AUGUST 22, 2026 STRENGTH THROUGH HIS SPIRIT  A WORD FROM THE WORD: "That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,." Ephesians 3:16 NKJV. In this life, especially as a believing child of God, there are battles that you cannot win by physical strength, emotional intelligence, mental intelligence or willpower. Your true victory begins in your inner man, the very spiritual core of your being. When your inner man, powered by God's Spirit is strong, external situations and circumstances would surely lose their power to overwhelm you. Paul the apostle, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit had a clear understanding of this truth, and so his prayers were not for external blessings, but for inner strength. Reasons for this are simple: When your inner man is strengthened, the following (though not exhaustive will definitely be evident. 1). You will endure and overcome challenges without breaking down. 2). You will firmly withstand situations and circumstances that overwhelmed others. 3). Your view will always be from God’s perspective instead of reactionary actions resulting from fear. 4). Your demeanour and walk will be in anchored in peace even in times of turbulence. So many lives, even that of Christians, are in disarray because their inner man is not strengthened by God's Spirit. One of the mistakes God's children make is to daily feed their bodies, and neglect and starve their inner man, yet expect to walk in victory. The Holy Spirit helps you draw strength from Him through prayer, God's Word, worship, and a consistent walk with God (Jude 20). Your inner man receives supernatural strength when your spirit is fortified, and you become unshakable. Won't you rather draw strength for your inner man through His Spirit? PRAYER BULLETS: Father LORD, strengthen me in my inner man by Your Spirit. Renew my courage, fortify my faith, and fill me with divine strength for every assignment You have given me. The Battle May Come, But It Won’t Have the Final Word God never promised that challenges would never come. He promised that they would not have the power to destroy His purpose for your life. Isaiah 54:17 reminds us: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” Sometimes opposition can make you question whether God is still with you. People may misunderstand you, speak against you, or situations may suddenly become difficult. But remember this: the presence of a battle does not mean the absence of God. You don't have to respond to every accusation. You don't have to prove your heart to everyone. Keep walking in truth. Keep praying. Keep your peace. Let God handle what you cannot control. What looks like a setback today may become part of your testimony tomorrow. Life Lesson: Don't measure God's protection by the absence of battles. Measure it by the strength He gives you to overcome them. Let's Pray 🙏 Father, thank You for being my refuge and defender. When challenges arise, give me wisdom, courage, and peace. 🌿 A Future of Peace Under the Reign of God — Micah 4:1–5 Micah had just confronted corruption, injustice, and failed leadership. https://patrickryanlewis.com/2026/08/20/a-future-of-peace-under-the-reign-of-god/ Then, in Micah 4, the picture suddenly changes. He sees a day when people are drawn to God, nations seek His instruction, weapons of war are turned into tools of cultivation, and people live securely without fear. Why? Because God is reigning. Micah 4 reminds us that our ultimate hope is not found in better politics, stronger institutions, greater wealth, or humanity finally figuring everything out. Our hope is in the righteous reign of God and in Jesus Christ, the King who will make all things right. But this passage also challenges us today. If God’s kingdom is our future, then His ways should shape how we live in the present. We should seek His Word.
We should pursue peace.
We should practice justice.
We should resist fear.

📘 Daily Devotion — August 21 | Acts 20:2 (NKJV) 💯 The Ministry of Encouragement As Paul continued his missionary journey, he traveled through the regions where churches had already been established. Rather than simply passing through, he intentionally spent time encouraging the believers. Paul understood that following Christ was not always easy, and God's people needed continual strengthening through biblical teaching, loving fellowship, and reminders of God's faithfulness. Paul's ministry demonstrates that encouragement is an essential part of Christian service. His words helped believers remain steadfast in their faith despite persecution and challenges. He invested in people, knowing that strong disciples would continue the work of spreading the gospel. For believers today, this verse reminds us that God calls us to encourage one another. A kind word, a sincere prayer, a Scripture shared at the right moment, or simply being present with someone can strengthen their faith. God often uses ordinary acts of encouragement to accomplish extraordinary work in the lives of His people. Reflection Questions 1. Who has encouraged me in my walk with Christ? 2. The Story Behind the Hymns THE STORY BEHIND " WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE? " “Who Is on the Lord’s Side?” is a stirring Christian hymn written by Frances Ridley Havergal, the English poet, hymn writer and devotional author whose words often called believers to deeper commitment and wholehearted service to Christ. The hymn was written in 1877, during a period when Havergal was deeply involved in Christian ministry and devotional writing. Its central question is direct and searching: “Who is on the Lord’s side?” Rather than simply asking believers to identify themselves as Christians, the hymn challenges them to consider whether they are truly willing to stand with Christ and serve Him. The hymn’s inspiration is closely connected with the biblical language of choosing whom one will serve. Its message echoes Joshua’s declaration in Joshua 24:15: “Choose you this day whom ye will serve,” while also drawing on the New Testament call to follow Christ faithfully. Each verse develops the theme of surrender and allegiance. Havergal speaks of giving oneself fully to the Lord, following His leadership, enduring hardship and remaining faithful to His cause. The hymn therefore moves beyond a declaration of faith to a call for action, courage and consecration. The familiar opening asks: “Who is on the Lord’s side? YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR Key Scriptures: Romans 8:37; 1 John 5:4; Philippians 4:13 Life can throw some tough battles, challenges, and opposition your way, but as a believer in Christ, remember this: you’re not fighting for victory—you’re fighting from a place of victory. Your identity isn’t that of a victim; you’re a victor because Jesus Christ has already triumphed over sin, death, and the forces of darkness. The Bible confidently states, "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). No matter what you’re up against today, the power of God within you is far greater than any obstacle in your path. Throughout the Scriptures, we see how God granted ordinary people extraordinary victories simply because they placed their trust in Him. Take David, for instance—he took down Goliath with unwavering confidence in the name of the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45–50). Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land because God was right there with him (Joshua 1:5–9). And then there’s Paul, who faced persecution, imprisonment, and all sorts of hardships, yet he remained steadfast because Christ was his strength (2 Corinthians 11:23–28; Philippians 4:13). Their victories weren’t about their own skills; they were all about God’s faithfulness and power working through them. Whatever battle you’re facing today, don’t give in to fear or discouragement. "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world" (1 John 5:4). The same God who granted victories to His servants in the past is fighting for you right now. Stand firm in your faith, keep trusting in His promises, and move forward with confidence. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13). You are more than a conqueror—not because of your own strength, but because Christ lives in you. Your victory is assured, your future is bright, and your greatest triumph is still on the horizon. DAILY BREAD FELLOWSHIP DBF-001-027 Today’s Scripture John 2:6 (ESV) “Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.” Opening the Scriptures John now draws our attention to something standing nearby at the wedding: six large stone water jars. These were not ordinary drinking containers. John specifically tells us that they were connected with Jewish purification practices. The jars were large. Together they could hold well over one hundred gallons of water. At this point, however, they were simply standing there. The servants did not yet know why Jesus would soon direct their attention toward them. This detail reminds us of something important when reading Scripture. God often accomplishes His purposes through things that appear completely ordinary. The servants saw water jars. Jesus knew what He was about to do. Living God’s Word Today We often think God can use us only when we possess something impressive. We may believe we need greater ability, more education, more money, greater influence, or better circumstances before we can serve Him effectively. But Scripture repeatedly challenges that thinking. God is not limited by what appears small or ordinary to us. The question is not whether what we possess seems impressive. The question is whether it is available for His purposes. Those stone jars could not perform a miracle. Neither could the servants. The power belonged entirely to Christ. That distinction is essential in Christian service. Whenever God accomplishes something through our lives, ministries, churches, abilities, or resources, we must never confuse the instrument with the One who supplies the power. Christ receives the glory. Perhaps you sometimes feel that what you have to offer God is insignificant. Do not measure usefulness according to human standards. Bring what you have under the authority of Christ. Your time can be used by Him. Your home can be used by Him. Your abilities can be used by Him. Your resources can be used by Him. Your ordinary conversations can become opportunities to speak truth and demonstrate the love of Christ. But never forget: the power is not in us. We are servants. Christ is Lord. The six stone jars were standing at Cana, ready to be used according to His command. The servants would soon discover that ordinary obedience placed them in the service of an extraordinary Savior. Our responsibility today remains the same. Be available. Listen to His Word. Obey what He commands. And give Christ all the glory for whatever He accomplishes. Question for Today: Are you willing to place what you have at Christ’s disposal for His purposes? Respond: “Lord, use what You have given me for Your glory.”

Devotion: Luke 10:19 Luke 10:19: “Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you.” Thoughts: Accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and thus inviting the Holy Spirit into your life, you also gain power through God; power to face even the most daunting enemies and challenges. If you live your life in honor of God, if you understand that His presence in your life is a constant, you never need to be afraid again. Fear makes us weak, it makes us doubt that God can intervene in time to save us. If we stand firm in the knowledge that we have power through our belief in the Lord, if we face the future with courageous hearts, we can (and will) overcome any obstacle in our way. Fear gives the devil a foothold, he thrives on us being afraid and uses it against us. When we take our stand against evil, against the world, knowing that we are children of the Almighty; children with God-given power, even the devil and his minions will fall. Luke 10:17: “....Even the demons obeyed us when we gave them a command in your name." A word of warning, though, remember that with this power comes a warning: Luke 10:17: “But don’t be glad because the evil spirits obey you; rather be glad because your names are written in heaven.” Therefore you should accept our God-given power and use it to quench the human fear still lurking in our lives. In our commitment to God we can use this power to overcome even the darkest of enemies and do so to glorify His name. For it is only through Him that we can claim this power and only with His blessing that we can use it in our daily battle. Ask yourself: Are you ready to accept God's challenge and take up the powerful sword God gave you?
