TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR AUTHORITY IN CHRIST
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: LUKE 10:19 (KJV)
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
    Devotional Message:

In Luke 10:19, Jesus reveals a profound spiritual truth concerning the believer’s position and victory in Him. Interestingly, two different Greek words translated as “power” are used in this scripture.

The first word is “exousia,” which means authority — delegated authority, privilege, or legal right. The second word is “dunamis,” which means power, strength, or ability. This means Jesus was essentially saying:“I give you authority over all the power and ability of the enemy.”This understanding is very important for every believer.

In ourselves, we do not possess the ability or strength to defeat Satan and the powers of darkness through human effort. However, through Christ Jesus, believers have been given authority over the enemy.

Our authority in Christ can be compared to a traffic police officer standing in the road directing vehicles.Physically, the officer does not possess the strength to stop moving vehicles with bare hands. Yet cars stop because the officer operates under delegated authority backed by the government.

Likewise, believers operate under the authority of Jesus Christ Himself. The power behind our authority is not human strength, intelligence, emotions, or personal ability — it is God Himself. This is why demons trembled when Jesus spoke, and why the apostles could cast out devils and heal the sick in the Name of Jesus. Heaven backed the authority they exercised.

The believer must therefore become conscious of:Their position in Christ, authority given through Jesus, victory secured at the cross and power behind the Name of Jesus.Fear disappears when believers understand who stands behind them.

Many believers live intimidated lives not because the devil is stronger, but because they are unaware of the authority already given to them in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians teaches that we are seated together with Christ in heavenly places — a place of authority, dominion, and victory. Therefore, believers are not called to beg Satan for freedom but to enforce the victory Christ already secured.

However, authority becomes effective when believers:Walk in obedience,Remain submitted to God,Stand upon the Word,Exercise faith and Speak with confidence in Christ.

    Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the authority You have given me in Christ Jesus. Open the eyes of my understanding to know my position in You. Help me to walk boldly, fearlessly, and confidently in the victory Christ secured for me. Teach me to exercise spiritual authority with wisdom, faith, and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • THE DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is usually studied under three headings: His personality, deity, and work. Teaching on the personality of the Holy Spirit is significant because the cults and the liberals, contrary to the Bible, contend that the Holy Spirit is not a personality, but He is merely to be equated with a power. To support their view they quote Acts 1:8, where Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to empower man's witness. Others say the Holy Spirit is only an influence that God exercises in people's minds. They quote John 14:26 where Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to teach the disciples.

THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Scriptures show that the Holy Spirit is a personality—not a mere power, or influence, or an impersonal attribute of God. This is obvious because personal pronouns, which indicate personality, are used in reference to Him. Although the Greek term "pneuma," meaning "spirit," is a neuter noun, whenever the Scriptures speak of the Holy Spirit, masculine pronouns (He, Him, Himself) are used. The Greek language is quite complex, and if the Holy Spirit were simply a neuter power or influence, the writers would have used neuter pronouns; but instead, whenever the Holy Spirit is spoken of, masculine pronouns are used of Him, indicating that He is a personality. The term "paraclete," which is used in John 14:26 of the Holy Spirit, is the same one used in 1 John 2:1 of Christ, the man.

The Holy Spirit has attributes of personality such as wisdom and knowledge (1 Corinthians 2:10-12; 12:8). In Romans 8:26-27 Paul spoke of the "mind of the Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:11 shows that He wills to do things. He teaches (John 14:26); He can be grieved, indicating that He has emotion (Ephesians 4:30); He reproves the world of sin (John 16:8); and He appoints, commissions, and commands (Acts 13:2; 20:28). Paul was forbidden by the Holy Spirit in Acts 16:6-7 from going into certain areas to preach, but was sent instead to other places. The Holy Spirit was active in creation (Genesis 1:2; Job 33:4). A mere influence or power could not speak, but He spoke in John 16:13 and Acts 13:2. In Revelation 3:22 Jesus said, "Let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

The Scriptures lend no support to the error that the Holy Spirit is just a power or influence. If they did, it would result in tautology, that is, needless repetition in many passages. For example, Acts 10:38 reads, "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power." Substitute the word "power" for the Holy Spirit, then it would read, "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with power and with power." The matter is settled in Zechariah 4:6 where spirit and power are contrasted. "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."

THE DEITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The deity of the Holy Spirit is a truth which is denied by the cults and the liberals, but is seen throughout the Word of God. First, in the triune passages the Holy Spirit's deity is shown in that He is equated with God. The Great Commission given to the church by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Also see 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2.

Secondly, the Holy Spirit is called God in certain passages. For instance, in Acts 5:3-4 Ananias and Sapphira sold their property and brought a certain part of the money to the church. They said they were giving all they had received, but they were only giving part. Peter said to Ananias, "Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God." In verse 3 Peter said they lied to the Holy Spirit, but in verse 4 he said they lied to God; so obviously, the Holy Spirit is God. Other passages in the New Testament where the Holy Spirit is equated with God are: 1 Corinthians 3:16; 12:4-6; Ephesians 2:22.

Thirdly, the Holy Spirit is revealed to be God by the fact that He possesses divine attributes. He is said to be omnipresent in Psalm 139:7. "Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?" The Holy Spirit is also omniscient, all-wise (1 Corinthians 2:10). His omnipotence is shown in that He created the heavens and earth (Genesis 1:2), and He is the agent of the new birth (John 3:7-8)

THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
When speaking of the work of the Holy Spirit, one should avoid the error of dividing God's activity into dispensations to such an extreme that it borders on Sabellian-ism or the "oneness" error. This heresy, which confronted the early church and is still present today, teaches that God existed in three successive modes. Those who believe this say that in the Old Testament was the ministry of the Father; in the New Testament was the ministry of the Son; and in the present church age is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Stated another way, this would mean that God is not one divine Spirit who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; but He has existed in three successive modes: first, the Father; then, the Son; and now, the Holy Spirit.

On the contrary, in every work and activity of God, the eternal, triune God is personally and actively present. While it is true that each personality or personification of the triune God occupies certain offices or has specific functions within the unity in the Godhead, the Godhead cannot be divided. One never works without the entire Godhead acting. In John 14:16 Christ promised to send the Holy Spirit; in verse 18 He said, "I will come"; then in verse 23 He said, "We [the Father and I] will come unto him, and make our abode with him." In this passage it is clearly shown that Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, which He did on the day of Pentecost; but it would be He, Himself, who would be coming back, and not only He, but the Father also. Jesus was saying that when the Spirit is present, then the Father and Son are present. This may be difficult to comprehend; nevertheless, it is true. God is what He reveals Himself to be in His Word; He is one divine Spirit who eternally personified Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit's work in relation to the Old Testament is threefold. The Holy Spirit was the agent in creation (Genesis 1:2; Psalm 104:24,30; Job 33:4). In Colossians 1:16 Paul revealed that Jesus Christ was the creator of all things, which is confirmed in John 1:1-3. How did He do it? He created by the Spirit of God; therefore, there is no contradiction. The Holy Spirit, as the agent in creation, actually did the forming.

Secondly, the Holy Spirit empowered men by anointing them for special functions or work, as seen all through the Book of Judges. The Holy Spirit fell upon Samson, for example, and he was supernaturally empowered to do mighty works on behalf of God. It is interesting to note that there is a distinction between the work of the Holy Spirit with respect to believers in the old dispensation and in the New Testament. There are numerous cases in the Old Testament where He would anoint individuals for a certain task; He would be with them, and then He would leave after the work or function was finished. In the New Testament, however, when a believer received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit would indwell him permanently. Jesus said in John 14:17 that the Holy Spirit "dwelleth with you, and shall be in you," referring, of course, to the initial outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost, and also to those in later times who would receive this experience.

In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit inspired men with wisdom, knowledge, and skills. This empowering enabled the men to implement the plans that God gave Moses for the tabernacle and the later temple and its furnishings. God gave skills by His Spirit to those He had chosen to perform these works (Exodus 31:3). He also inspired the prophets to speak (Zechariah 7:12). In Nehemiah 9:30, for example, God spoke to the Israelites through the prophets by His Spirit.

It was the Holy Spirit who inspired the Old Testament Scriptures. David was inspired to write the Psalms, for he said, "The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue" (2 Samuel 23:1-2). The apostle said in 2 Peter 1:21 that "holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." According to 2 Timothy 3:16-17 all Scripture is inspired by God—both Old and New Testaments.

The Holy Spirit's work in relation to the New Testament dispensation is fourfold. First, with respect to Scripture, it was He who inspired the writer. In John 16:13 Jesus was even more specific. He said, "When He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." This is a direct statement of the fact that the Scriptures are inspired. In other words, "I will show you things to come by my Spirit. I will teach you all things by my Spirit."

Secondly, the work of the Holy Spirit was inseparably related to Jesus from His birth. According to Luke 1:35, Jesus' birth was to be a virgin birth by the Holy Spirit. Luke 3:22 says that after Jesus was baptized, "the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him." When Jesus began His ministry as teacher, He said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach" (Luke 4:18). In Matthew 12:28 Jesus said He cast out devils by the Spirit of God. Further, He warned that if someone spoke against His works, he would be blaspheming the Holy Spirit, because Jesus did the works by the Spirit of God. The Bible also speaks of the Spirit's work with respect to the resurrection of Christ; it was the Spirit of God who raised Him from the dead (Romans 8:11).

Thirdly, the Spirit of God has a ministry in relation to the church. He is seen to be the creator of the church, which had its beginning when the believers were baptized by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). Paul said in 1 Corinthians 12:13 that all believers are baptized by one Spirit into one body, speaking there of the Spirit's work of regeneration, not of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:22 says that Christians "are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." The Holy Spirit directs the church's ministry, as seen, for example, in Acts 13,16,20, as well as throughout the New Testament. It is evident in those passages that He is the sovereign agent in evangelism, for He told Paul to go one place and not to go to another. The Holy Spirit was not only empowering the church's witness, but He was also directing where they were to witness, just as He will today if Christians will look to Him for guidance.

Fourthly, the Holy Spirit's ministry in relation to the individual Christian is quite extensive. He convicts of sin, according to John 16:8; then, upon belief of the gospel, He gives regeneration—the new birth. He then enables the new convert to make a saving confession of Christ. "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:3). As stated earlier in this text, that does not mean man cannot say those words, but he cannot make a saving confession from the heart except by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is also the one who sanctifies; that is, He sets believers apart unto service in God's kingdom (2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2). Further, He educates and illumines the minds of His children (John 14:26; Mark 13:11; 1 Corinthians 12:8).

The Holy Spirit also empowers the Christian with respect to his ministry, witness, and walk with Christ. In 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 Paul shows that the Holy Spirit empowers the believer's ministry through the gifts of the Spirit. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said the Holy Spirit would empower the church's witness. In Galatians 5:16,22-23 the fruit of the Spirit is manifest through the saints. Paul taught that disciples of Jesus are to walk in the Spirit, and he listed the fruits of the Spirit which should be evident in their lives. The Holy Spirit intercedes for Christ's followers, according to Romans 8:26. Finally, He preserves the elect, according to Ephesians 4:30; and will resurrect them as He did Christ (Romans 8:11).

CLARIFICATION OF THE TERMS REGARDING THE HOLY SPIRIT
In the study of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, there are a number of terms and concepts which are sometimes confused or misunderstood. These include the gift of the Spirit contrasted with the gifts of the Spirit, as well as the earnest, sealing, anointing, baptism, infilling, fulness, and indwelling of the Spirit. Some of these terms are used synonymously—being baptized in the Spirit (Acts 1) is being filled with the Spirit (Acts 2:4).

The first term to be discussed is the gift of the Holy Spirit which is the "baptism of the Holy Spirit." In Acts 2:12 the Jews were amazed when they heard the disciples speaking in tongues or other languages, and they inquired of Peter, "What meaneth this?" Peter replied that what they were observing was that which had been spoken by the prophet in Joel 2:28, and that they could also "receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Many people confuse regeneration with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They think a person automatically receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit when he is saved; however, they are not the same. In Acts 1:4,5,8 Jesus' promise was not "Wait to be born again," but was in essence, "Wait to be empowered; wait for the Holy Spirit."

In regeneration the Holy Spirit imparts life or the new birth, as seen in John 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power [the authority or right] to become the sons of God." The Greek term, translated "power," is "exousia." The term used in Acts, however, is "dunamis," from which the word "dynamite" is derived. In Scripture it is the enabling to do mighty works. Jesus said, "Ye shall receive power Batte Ronald" in Acts 1:8. In the one case the promise is for the authority and right to become a son of God; in the other case, it is for empowering.

Just as the gift of the Holy Spirit is not to be confused with regeneration, neither is the gift of the Spirit to be confused with the gifts of the Spirit. The gifts (plural) are supernatural manifestations of the Spirit through the body of Christ, and are described in 1 Corinthians 12; 14; and Romans 12. The gift of the Spirit, as it is called in Acts 2:38, is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:45 and 11:15-17 speak of the gift of the Holy Spirit being poured out upon the Gentiles.

Another term used regarding the Holy Spirit is the earnest of the Spirit, which occurs in 2 Corinthians 1:22. Paul said, God "hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." This signifies that God has given a down payment, an earnest or a part, as a pledge or guarantee that the remainder will be given. There are two aspects of the earnest of the Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is God's pledge of full redemption; and it is also the prospect of the fulness of the Spirit, which will be mentioned later.

A third expression is the sealing of the Holy Spirit which occurs in 2 Corinthians 1:22, as well as in Ephesians 1:13-14 and 4:30. The earnest of the Spirit is God's pledge of full redemption, and the sealing is God's assurance of this. It is like an envelope—God put the promise inside and then sealed it.

Another term is the anointing of the Spirit, which is also called the unction of the Spirit in the King James Version. 1 John 2:20 says, "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things," and verse 27 continues, "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you." Paul also spoke of the anointing in 2 Corinthians 1:21.

What is the meaning of anointing! In the Old Testament the prophets, priests, and kings were anointed with oil to signify that they were being set apart for service unto God, a ritual which depicted the Holy Spirit being put upon them. In the New Testament the anointing is said to be within the believer (John 14:17).

What is the purpose of the anointing! It brings illumination to the essential truths of Scripture (1 Corinthians 2:14; 1 John 2:20,27; John 16:13). The anointing enables Christians to witness effectively (Acts 1:8 with 2:37-47). The anointing is the enablement to minister the gifts (1 Corinthians 12; 14; Romans 12). The anointing is an empowering to preach and teach the Word, as in Luke 4:18 where Jesus was anointed to preach. The anointing gives believers the power needed to walk and live a consecrated life. Those who are baptized in the Spirit will experience the anointing in these various ways.

The Bible shows that being baptized in the Spirit is to be filled with the Spirit. These two terms are used interchangeably in the Book of Acts. However, the fulness of the Spirit is manifested in the Christian's life to the extent he yields himself to the Spirit after he is baptized in the Spirit. The baptism is an instantaneous experience received with the asking (Luke 11:13), but the fulness is a growth (Ephesians 4:11-16). The fulness is not a once-for-all experience, but is a gradual maturing unto the likeness of Jesus Christ. The command in Ephesians 5:18, "Be filled with the Spirit," was given to saints who had already received the infilling of the Spirit; but Paul knew that they needed to go on to the fulness. Since Acts 1:5 and 2:4 equate the baptism of the Spirit with being filled with the Spirit, obviously a deeper meaning is implied by Paul's exhortation to be filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5:18. Shared.

God willing, more will be posted soon. All glory to Jesus alone.
❤️THE DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is usually studied under three headings: His personality, deity, and work. THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT The Scriptures show that the Holy Spirit is a personality—not a mere power, or influence, or an impersonal attribute of God. The Holy Spirit has attributes of personality such as wisdom and knowledge (1 Corinthians 2:10-12; 12:8). In Romans 8:26-27 Paul spoke of the "mind of the Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:11 shows that He wills to do things. In Revelation 3:22 Jesus said, "Let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." THE DEITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT The deity of the Holy Spirit is a truth which is denied by the cults and the liberals, but is seen throughout the Word of God. I will teach you all things by my Spirit." Secondly, the work of the Holy Spirit was inseparably related to Jesus from His birth. CLARIFICATION OF THE TERMS REGARDING THE HOLY SPIRIT In the study of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, there are a number of terms and concepts which are sometimes confused or misunderstood. The first term to be discussed is the gift of the Holy Spirit which is the "baptism of the Holy Spirit." In Acts 2:12 the Jews were amazed when they heard the disciples speaking in tongues or other languages, and they inquired of Peter, "What meaneth this?" Peter replied that what they were observing was that which had been spoken by the prophet in Joel 2:28, and that they could also "receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Many people confuse regeneration with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They think a person automatically receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit when he is saved; however, they are not the same. In Acts 1:4,5,8 Jesus' promise was not "Wait to be born again," but was in essence, "Wait to be empowered; wait for the Holy Spirit." In regeneration the Holy Spirit imparts life or the new birth, as seen in John 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power [the authority or right] to become the sons of God." The Greek term, translated "power," is "exousia." The term used in Acts, however, is "dunamis," from which the word "dynamite" is derived. In Scripture it is the enabling to do mighty works. Jesus said, "Ye shall receive power [dunamis]" in Acts 1:8. Shared. ❤️ God willing, more will be posted soon. All glory to Jesus alone.

STOP CRYING LIKE A VICTIM WHEN YOU HAVE THE BADGE OF A VICTOR!
Grace and apostolic dominion to you! I am coming to you today with a fiery, unyielding word from the throne room. The Spirit of God is heavily indicting a modern Church that has forgotten its identity. We have believers sitting in the pews, crying, begging, and negotiating with demons, completely ignorant of the badge of authority they wear!
Demons are laughing at your tears. They are not intimidated by your religious vocabulary. They do not care how loud you scream. The kingdom of darkness only bows to ONE thing: AUTHORITY. Today, we are tearing up the victim mentality. We are doing a deep, expository dive into the most dangerous weapon in the believer's arsenal: Luke 10:19. If you have been living under the harassment of the enemy, read this carefully. It is time to shift from defense to offense!
THE EXPOSITORY REVELATION: DECODING LUKE 10:19
Jesus did not leave us as orphans to be bullied by the devil. He looked at His disciples and declared in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Let’s break down the spiritual legalities of this verse:
    1. "Behold, I give you AUTHORITY..." (The Greek word is Exousia)
Authority (exousia) is vastly different from sheer power (dunamis). Think of a traffic cop standing in front of a massive, 18-wheeler truck. The cop does not have the physical power to stop the truck with his bare hands. But when he raises his hand, the truck stops. Why? Because the cop has authority—he is backed by the entire weight, law, and government of the state!
The Indictment: You are trying to fight the devil in your own physical strength, your own intellect, and your own willpower. You will lose! When you command a demon to leave, you are not speaking in your own strength; you are raising the badge of the Blood of Jesus! You are backed by the Supreme Court of Heaven! (Matthew 28:18-19)
    2. "...to trample on serpents and scorpions..." (The Demonic Hierarchies)
Jesus was not talking about a trip to the zoo. He was identifying the tactical operations of demonic hierarchies.
Serpents: These represent spirits of deception, manipulation, and subtle poison. The serpent operates in the grass—hidden agendas, whispering lies, and distorting the Word of God. (Genesis 3:1)
Scorpions: These represent spirits of sudden, agonizing, and paralyzing attacks. A scorpion strike brings immediate pain, representing sudden financial ruin, unexpected sickness, or sharp marital strife.
The Reality: Whether the enemy comes subtly like a snake or suddenly like a scorpion, your mandate is not to run from them. Your mandate is to TRAMPLE them under your feet! (Romans 16:20)
    3. "...and over ALL the power of the enemy..."
Notice Jesus did not say some power. He said ALL power!
The Indictment: Stop exalting the devil's power over God's authority! Generational curses, witchcraft, territorial spirits, and familiar spirits all fall under the category of "the power of the enemy." There is no demon in hell with a high enough rank to override the Name of Jesus Christ! (Philippians 2:9-11)
    4. "...and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Divine Immunity)
This is the clause of divine protection. When you step into your identity as a true labourer and enforce the Kingdom, you walk in a bubble of divine immunity. (Psalm 91:7)
PRACTICAL WARFARE: WHY DEMONS MUST OBEY YOU
Why do some believers quote Luke 10:19, yet the demon stays? Because demons can smell an identity crisis.
In Acts 19:15, the evil spirit answered the seven sons of Sceva, saying, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" They had the right vocabulary, but they lacked the authentic, relational authority.
You cannot wield the authority of a King you do not intimately know. You cannot exercise dominion in the spirit realm if you are living in secret rebellion in the natural realm. Demons do not obey your title; they obey the Christ who is seated on the throne of your heart. When a fully surrendered, uncompromising disciple opens their mouth, hell doesn't hear a mere human—hell hears the roar of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah!
    YOUR CALL TO ACTION!
It is time to stop begging God to do what He already gave you the authority to do! Rise up, take your badge, and evict the trespassers from your territory!
DO THESE 3 THINGS RIGHT NOW TO SHIFT YOUR ATMOSPHERE:
DECREE YOUR DOMINION: Type "I EXERCISE MY AUTHORITY IN CHRIST TODAY!" in the comments to set a prophetic record in the spirit realm!
SHARE THIS BROADCAST APOSTOLICALLY: There are believers on your timeline right now who are terrified of the dark, hiding from generational curses, and letting the enemy run their homes. Hit SHARE and hand them their weapons back!
PRAY THIS ENFORCEMENT DECREE OUT LOUD: "Father, I repent for walking in fear and operating with a victim mentality. Today, I pick up my blood-bought authority! In the Name of Jesus Christ, I trample upon every serpent of deception and every scorpion of sudden attack. I command every demonic entity operating in my family, my health, and my finances to bow to the Name of Jesus! I am a fully authorized representative of the Kingdom of Heaven, and my territory is secured. Amen!"
Stop crying. Start commanding. Sharpen your sickle!

  • Kingdom Authority and Power — What You've Been Given | Born Again in Today's World Day 3 | Kingdom Living

You got saved. You got a new identity. You started renewing your mind. Now it's time to find out what you're carrying.

Day 3 of the "Born Again in Today's World" series picks up where the morning training on Philipsburg Live and God's Love Live left off and goes DEEP into the authority and power that every Kingdom citizen has been given — and why most believers never use it. We break down the difference between exousia (delegated authority — the RIGHT to act) and dunamis (supernatural power — the ABILITY to act) — and why you need both. We walk through Peter and John at the Beautiful Gate, the seventy-two returning with joy, and the moment Jesus told His disciples He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Then we bring it to the break room, the drive-through, and the drive home— because Kingdom authority that only works inside the church building isn't Kingdom authority at all.

Fair warning: you will laugh, you will get convicted, and you will never look at a 120-pound police officer the same way again.

  • BIBLE TEACHING

Generational Curses, Unclean Things, Familiar Spirits, Tattoos, Media, Doors, and Freedom in Jesus Christ

We need to speak plainly about something many believers do not handle carefully enough: spiritual contamination. Some people live in repeated cycles and never ask why. The same patterns keep showing up in the family. The same bondage keeps returning. The same anger, addiction, poverty, lust, brokenness, fear, and confusion keep appearing from one generation to another.

The Bible does not teach fear. It teaches discernment. The Bible does not teach superstition. It teaches holiness. The Bible does not teach legalism. It teaches freedom in Christ.

This is not about becoming paranoid. This is about becoming spiritually awake.
The center of all of it is this: Jesus Christ sets people free.

The New Testament word for freedom is ἐλευθερόω (eleutheroō) - to set free, to liberate, to make free indeed. Jesus did not come to decorate bondage. He came to destroy it.

    WHAT IS A GENERATIONAL CURSE?

A generational curse is not a magical spell sitting on a family tree. It is a repeated spiritual, moral, and often practical pattern of sin and consequences that passes through generations because the same rebellion, idolatry, disobedience, and unbelief keep being repeated.
In Exodus 20:5–6, God says He visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Him, but He also shows mercy to thousands who love Him and keep His commandments.

The Hebrew word for iniquity is עָוֹן (ʿavon) - crookedness, guilt, perversity, the twisted consequences of sin. That means sin is not just a private act. Sin carries weight. Sin leaves a trail. Sin can shape a family atmosphere.
What a parent opens, a child can inherit. What a generation normalizes, the next generation may continue.
But the Bible also gives balance in Ezekiel 18:20, where God says the son will not bear the guilt of the father, and the father will not bear the guilt of the son. That means each person is accountable before God for their own sin.

So we must hold both truths together:
    Sin can produce family patterns.
But nobody is doomed forever if they come to Christ.

That is why Galatians 3:13 matters so much: “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.”

The word for curse there is κατάρα (katara) - a curse, a pronouncement of doom. The word redeemed is ἐξαγοράζω (exagorazō) - to buy out of slavery, to purchase out from under ownership.
Jesus did not only forgive sins. He broke the legal right of the curse over those who belong to Him.

BLOODLINE CURSES ARE REAL PATTERNS, BUT JESUS IS GREATER

When people talk about bloodline curses, they are often talking about repeated patterns in a family line.

    It may look like:

    repeated divorce
    repeated poverty
    repeated addiction
    repeated fatherlessness
    repeated anger
    repeated occult involvement
    repeated sickness
    repeated unforgiveness
    repeated rebellion
    repeated sexual immorality

    These patterns can come through:

    generational sin
    family agreements with darkness
    unresolved trauma
    idols in the home
    spoken words
    repeated rebellion
    hidden practices that invited oppression

But the good news is this: Jesus Christ breaks every chain.
In Colossians 2:14–15, we are told that Jesus canceled the record of debt that stood against us and triumphed over principalities and powers through the cross.

    The Greek words matter here:

ἀρχαί (archai) - principalities, ruling powers
    ἐξουσίαι (exousiai) - authorities
χειρόγραφον (cheirographon) - handwritten record of debt

That means Jesus did not just forgive. He canceled the accusation and disarmed the powers.
So the blood of Jesus is not a symbol only. It is victory. It is authority. It is deliverance. It is legal cancellation. It is the end of the enemy’s claim.

    FAMILIAR SPIRITS AND SPIRITUAL AGREEMENTS

Familiar spirits are spirits that attach themselves to families, homes, or individuals, often because of repeated sin, rebellion, occult involvement, or agreements with darkness.
The Old Testament warns against them in Leviticus 19:31 and Deuteronomy 18:10–12.

The Hebrew terms often associated with this are:

medium, familiar spirit, spirit of the dead - אוֹב (ʾov)
familiar spirit, spirit of knowing - יִדְּעֹנִי (yiddeʿoni)

These are forbidden because they are counterfeit spiritual access. They are a false doorway into the invisible realm.

    Familiar spirits can manifest as:

    recurring strongholds
    unexplained fear or anxiety
    repeated deception
    oppression in the home
compulsions or habits that feel unbreakable
cycles that seem to “know your family”

They can attach to bloodlines, objects, or even generational curses. Often, the enemy uses them to continue cycles of sin or to intimidate believers.
But the Word is clear: no familiar spirit has authority over a child of God.
In Acts 16:18, Paul commands a spirit to come out in the name of Jesus, and it obeys instantly. The authority of Jesus is not theoretical. It is active.

    Jesus said in Luke 10:19:

“I have given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.”
The word authority there is ἐξουσία (exousia) - delegated right, legal authority, permission to act under a higher King.
So familiar spirits are real, but Jesus is greater. We are not powerless. We are not victims. We are conquerors in Christ.

    HOW DO DOORS OPEN SPIRITUALLY?

    Doors open in several ways:

Through personal sin - giving room for darkness.
Through family patterns - repeated rebellion or occult involvement.
Through unclean objects and practices - items connected to idolatry, death, witchcraft, or rebellion.
Through media and entertainment - movies, music, and visual content can shape your mind spiritually.
Through spoken words - agreements with darkness, curses, or self-condemnation.
Through unforgiveness - leaving a place in the heart empty allows the enemy to return.

Jesus warned in Matthew 12:43–45 that when an unclean spirit leaves and finds the house empty, swept, and put in order, it can return with more trouble.
The Greek idea of the house there is οἶκος (oikos) - house, household, family environment.

That means deliverance is not enough if the house is left empty. The house must be filled with the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, prayer, worship, and obedience.
Jesus closes every door when we repent, renounce evil, and fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit.

    UNCLEAN THINGS IN THE HOUSE

A house is not only a structure. A house is a spiritual environment.

What you allow in your home matters:

    music
    movies
    symbols
    idols
    occult items
    sexual impurity
    curses spoken in the house
    constant anger
    disrespect
    ungodly altars
    witchcraft objects
    rebellion normalized as entertainment

In the Old Testament, Joshua 7 shows how hidden sin can bring judgment on the whole camp. One man’s secret disobedience became a public problem.

In 1 Corinthians 10:20–21, Paul warns against participating in what belongs to demons.
That means believers should not be casual about what they bring into their homes.
Do not ignore objects connected to darkness. Remove agreements with sin. But remember this carefully: objects themselves do not have power over God’s children. The issue is what they represent, what they were used for, and what spiritual agreement they carry.
A home must not only be clean physically. It must be clean spiritually.

    CLOTHES, SCARVES, BONES, AND SYMBOLS

Clothing or objects themselves are not magical. But clothing can represent identity, allegiance, honor, shame, rebellion, paganism, modesty, or holiness.

The Bible speaks about this in several places:
Deuteronomy 22:5 - clothing and identity distinctions
    1 Timothy 2:9 - modest apparel
Acts 19:11–12 - objects as points of contact for God

In Acts 19, cloths and aprons associated with Paul were used by God in healing. That does not mean cloth has power by itself. It means God can use physical things as points of contact when He chooses.
So if a scarf, cloth, bone, charm, or symbol is tied to witchcraft, occult practices, ancestral rituals, or death worship, remove it. Do not keep agreements with darkness.
We do not worship objects. We do not fear objects. We do not give objects more power than Christ.
But we also do not stay careless about spiritual symbols.

TATTOOS: WHAT DOES THE WORD REALLY SAY?

People often quote Leviticus 19:28, where God says not to make cuts in the body for the dead and not to tattoo themselves.
The Hebrew idea here is tied to pagan mourning rituals and idolatrous identity. In context, God was setting Israel apart from the nations around them.

So what is the real issue?
Not just ink. The issue is pagan identity, covenant loyalty, and holiness.
The New Testament adds an important truth in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20:
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Greek word for temple there is ναός (naos) - the holy sanctuary, not just a building, but the place where God dwells.
That means your body is not yours to glorify rebellion, vanity, lust, death, gang identity, occult symbolism, or self-worship.

Tattoos are not condemned automatically. But motives matter:

    Is it honoring God?
Is it tied to rebellion, lust, death, occult, or vanity?
Does it glorify Christ or self?

If someone already has tattoos, the blood of Jesus is greater than the ink on the skin. They are not condemned if they are in Christ. But if someone is considering tattoos, they must not treat the body lightly.
The heart behind the tattoo matters more than the ink.

MOVIES, MUSIC, AND WHAT WE ALLOW INTO THE MIND

Matthew 6:22–23 says the eye is the lamp of the body.

The Greek word for eye is ὀφθαλμός (ophthalmos), and the idea is that what enters through the eye affects the whole inner life.
What you watch shapes your imagination, conscience, appetite, fears, and worldview.
Repeated exposure to occult themes, sexual immorality, revenge, witchcraft, rebellion, or darkness opens doors spiritually.
That does not mean every movie is evil. But it does mean believers must not be careless.
You cannot feed on darkness and then wonder why your spirit feels weak.
You cannot normalize sin in your entertainment and then expect spiritual sensitivity.
What enters the mind shapes what grows in the heart.

    GENERATIONAL, NORMAL, AND BLOODLINE CURSES

There are different kinds of curse language in Scripture and in life:

Generational curses - repeated sin across family lines
Normal curses - spoken words of evil
Bloodline curses - family patterns of oppression
Self-curses - agreements with negative words about yourself

But always remember: the authority of Christ is greater than any curse.
In Numbers 23:23, Balaam says there is no enchantment against Jacob. In Isaiah 54:17, the Word declares that no weapon formed against God’s people shall prosper.

That does not mean weapons won’t form. It means they will not win.
The curse may come. The curse may speak. The curse may threaten. But in Christ, it does not rule.

    JESUS SETS US FREE

This is the center of the message.

John 8:36 - “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
1 John 3:8 - Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - in Christ, you are a new creation.

Galatians 3:13 h redeemed from the curse.

The Greek word for new creation is καινὴ κτίσις (kainē ktisis) — not repaired, but made new.
That means curses, bloodline oppression, occult powers, and familiar spirits are all subject to Jesus.
He is not one power among many. He is Lord over all.

    WALKING IN DELIVERANCE

Deliverance is not only a prayer event. It is a life of surrender.

    You must:

    repent
    renounce darkness
    forgive others
    remove unclean objects
    close spiritual doors
    stop feeding on darkness
    renew your mind
    pray over your family
    speak the Word
    walk in obedience
stay filled with the Holy Spirit

The Greek word for repent is μετανοέω (metanoeō) - to change one’s mind, to turn, to reorient one’s whole life.
A cleaned house and life must be filled with Christ.

A cleaned house without Christ becomes vulnerable again. A cleaned heart without the Word becomes unstable again. A cleansed life without discipleship becomes empty again.

    TEACH CHILDREN SPIRITUAL WARFARE EARLY

    This is very important.

    Teach children:

    prayer
    discernment
    rejection of evil
honoring God with the body and mind

    The Bible says:

Proverbs 22:6 - train up a child in the way they should go
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 - teach God’s words diligently to children
Ephesians 6:4 - bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord

The Greek word in Ephesians 6:4 for nurture is παιδεία (paideia) - training, discipline, instruction. Children are not just to be corrected; they are to be trained in truth.

Teach them early to know Jesus, resist darkness, and walk in truth.
Do not wait until the world has discipled them first. Train them while they are young.

Generational curses broken in Jesus’ name. Bloodline oppression destroyed. Unclean things removed. Spiritual doors closed. Bodies sanctified. Minds renewed. Children protected.

Christ redeems, cleanses, restores, and sets free.

    CLOSING DECLARATION

    I declare:

Every curse broken in Jesus’ name. Every familiar spirit removed. Every unclean object removed. Every door of darkness shut. My body a temple of the Holy Spirit. My mind belongs to Christ. My children will walk in truth. My home belongs to Jesus.

Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

BIBLE TEACHING Generational Curses, Unclean Things, Familiar Spirits, Tattoos, Media, Doors, and Freedom in Jesus Christ We need to speak plainly about something many believers do not handle carefully enough: spiritual contamination. So we must hold both truths together: Sin can produce family patterns. But nobody is doomed forever if they come to Christ. That is why Galatians 3:13 matters so much: “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.” The word for curse there is κατάρα (katara) - a curse, a pronouncement of doom. The word redeemed is ἐξαγοράζω (exagorazō) - to buy out of slavery, to purchase out from under ownership. Jesus did not only forgive sins. He broke the legal right of the curse over those who belong to Him. BLOODLINE CURSES ARE REAL PATTERNS, BUT JESUS IS GREATER When people talk about bloodline curses, they are often talking about repeated patterns in a family line. It may look like: repeated divorce repeated poverty repeated addiction repeated fatherlessness repeated anger repeated occult involvement repeated sickness repeated unforgiveness repeated rebellion repeated sexual immorality These patterns can come through: generational sin family agreements with darkness unresolved trauma idols in the home spoken words repeated rebellion hidden practices that invited oppression But the good news is this: Jesus Christ breaks every chain. In Colossians 2:14–15, we are told that Jesus canceled the record of debt that stood against us and triumphed over principalities and powers through the cross. The Greek words matter here: ἀρχαί (archai) - principalities, ruling powers ἐξουσίαι (exousiai) - authorities χειρόγραφον (cheirographon) - handwritten record of debt That means Jesus did not just forgive. He canceled the accusation and disarmed the powers. So the blood of Jesus is not a symbol only. It is victory. It is authority. It is deliverance. It is legal cancellation. It is the end of the enemy’s claim. FAMILIAR SPIRITS AND SPIRITUAL AGREEMENTS Familiar spirits are spirits that attach themselves to families, homes, or individuals, often because of repeated sin, rebellion, occult involvement, or agreements with darkness. The Old Testament warns against them in Leviticus 19:31 and Deuteronomy 18:10–12. The Hebrew terms often associated with this are: medium, familiar spirit, spirit of the dead - אוֹב (ʾov) familiar spirit, spirit of knowing - יִדְּעֹנִי (yiddeʿoni) These are forbidden because they are counterfeit spiritual access. They are a false doorway into the invisible realm. Familiar spirits can manifest as: recurring strongholds unexplained fear or anxiety repeated deception oppression in the home compulsions or habits that feel unbreakable cycles that seem to “know your family” They can attach to bloodlines, objects, or even generational curses. Jesus said in Luke 10:19: “I have given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.” The word authority there is ἐξουσία (exousia) - delegated right, legal authority, permission to act under a higher King. So familiar spirits are real, but Jesus is greater. We are not powerless. We are not victims. We are conquerors in Christ. HOW DO DOORS OPEN SPIRITUALLY? Doors open in several ways: Through personal sin - giving room for darkness. UNCLEAN THINGS IN THE HOUSE A house is not only a structure. A house is a spiritual environment. We do not fear objects. We do not give objects more power than Christ. But we also do not stay careless about spiritual symbols. TATTOOS: WHAT DOES THE WORD REALLY SAY? THE CRISIS OF THE CROWN: Why Your Commands Have No Compass
Listen to me, Ambassadors of the Kingdom!
I see a generation of believers shouting at demons until they are red in the face, yet the demons are laughing. I see "prayer warriors" who spend hours "taking authority" over their cities, yet they cannot take authority over their own appetites. You are using the name of Jesus like a magic spell, but the spirit realm is not responding to your noise; it is responding to your nature.
The Spirit of the Lord sent me to bring a stinging correction to your spiritual warfare: Authority is not a muscle you flex; it is a position you occupy. If you don't know who you are, the devil doesn't care what you say.
    1. The Source of the "Tread"
We often rush to the "power" part of the promise while ignoring the "legal standing" of the believer.
    Luke 10:19 declares:
    > "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Look at the Greek word used for "power" at the beginning of this verse: Exousia. It does not mean "raw strength" (Dunamis); it means Delegated Authority or Legal Right.
An ant has no strength to stop a truck, but a traffic warden—standing in the Identity of the State—can stop a fleet of trucks with one hand. The truck doesn't stop because the warden is physically strong; it stops because of the Uniform and the Government behind him. Your "tread" is only as heavy as your realization of your "Sonship."
    2. The Indictment: The "Sons of Sceva" Syndrome
The reason your "I bind you" feels hollow is that you are trying to use an authority you haven't identified with.
In Acts 19:15, the evil spirit gave a chilling response to the Seven Sons of Sceva:
    > "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?"

The Confrontation: The spirit realm keeps a "registry of identity." They know who has surrendered to the Lordship of Christ and who is just "borrowing" the language of the church.
    * You are trying to command the "Spirit of Poverty" while you still identify as a "victim of your background."
    * You are trying to rebuke "Lust" while you still identify with your "fleshly cravings."
    * You are trying to rule as a King, but you still think with the mind of a Slave.
Authority flows DOWNWARD. If you are not "under" the authority of Christ (Identity), you cannot be "over" the works of the devil.
    3. The Revelation: Seated Before You Stand
You cannot "tread" on what you are not "above."
Ephesians 2:6 tells us God has:
    > "...raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

Your identity is not "a sinner saved by grace" (that's your history). Your identity is "The Righteousness of God in Christ" (that's your current position). If you are praying from the "ground" up to a "high and mighty" devil, you have already lost. You must pray from the Seated Position. You don't fight for victory; you fight from victory.
THE IDENTITY AUDIT: WHO ARE YOU?
    * The Victim Identity: "Why is this happening to me?" (Result: Zero Authority).
    * The Religious Identity: "I fast and pay tithes, so I should be powerful." (Result: Legalism, no Power).
    * The Sonship Identity: "I am hidden in Christ. His blood is my seal. His Word is my mandate." (Result: Demons Tremble).
CALL TO ACTION: RECLAIM YOUR BADGE
The days of being bullied by the enemy are over. But the shift starts with your Mirror, not your Mouth.
    * Repent of Identity Theft: Ask God to forgive you for believing the lies of the enemy about who you are. Stop calling yourself "unworthy" when God has called you "Joint-Heir."
    * Renew the Mind: Spend the next 7 days meditating ONLY on "In Christ" scriptures. You must kill the "Slave" to let the "King" speak.
    * Exercise the Decree: Don't "beg" the mountain to move. Based on your identity as a son/daughter of the King, command the situation to align with the Word of God.

  • Jhn 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

The word "right" in verse 12 says a lot! Think about this! When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, God the Father gives us the"RIGHT" to become the children of God!
The Greek word for "right" is exousia (ex-oo-see'-ah). It means: exousia

    Thayer Definition:

    1) power of choice, liberty of doing as one pleases

    1a) leave or permission

    2) physical and mental power

2a) the ability or strength with which one is endued, which he either possesses or exercises

    3) the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege)

So as Christians we must need to always remember not to take the grace we have been given for granted, but ALWAYS remember what our right to become children of God cost!!!
