  • Daily Devotion — June 2 | Mark 14:8 (NKJV)

    Faithful with What We Have

Mark 14 records a beautiful act of devotion by a woman who came to Jesus with an alabaster flask of very costly oil. While others criticized her actions and viewed the offering as wasteful, Jesus saw something entirely different. He recognized a heart of worship, love, and faith that was willing to give sacrificially.

Jesus defended her and declared, “She has done what she could.” These simple words reveal an important truth about God's expectations. The Lord does not ask us to do what we cannot do. He calls us to faithfully offer what we have, where we are, with the resources and opportunities He has given us. The woman was not praised for doing more than others but for giving her best to Jesus.

Her act also demonstrated spiritual sensitivity. While many around her did not fully understand what was about to happen, she honored Jesus in preparation for His burial. Her devotion reflected a heart that recognized His worth and responded with wholehearted worship.

Believers today can learn from her example. God values obedience, love, and sacrifice that flow from sincere devotion. We may not always have great resources, influence, or recognition, but we can offer our time, gifts, service, and worship to the Lord. What matters most is not the size of our offering but the condition of our hearts.

When we faithfully do what we can for Christ, He sees our devotion and uses it for His purposes. No act of genuine love and obedience toward Jesus is ever wasted. Following the devotional pattern reflected in the provided example, we are reminded that God honors hearts that willingly give Him their best.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Am I giving Jesus my best or only what is convenient?

    2. What gifts or opportunities has God given me to use for His glory?

    3. How can I express greater love and devotion to Christ this week?

    Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for the example of wholehearted devotion shown in this passage. Help me to faithfully offer You my best and to serve You with a sincere heart. Teach me to value Your approval above the opinions of others and to use all You have given me for Your glory. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    - Give your time and talents to God with a willing heart.

    - Serve Christ faithfully even when others do not understand your commitment.

    - Look for opportunities to express love and gratitude to Jesus through worship and obedience.

    Takeaway Thought

God is honored when we faithfully offer Him our best with a heart of genuine devotion.

DAY 1 – HERE I AM TO WORSHIP
When My Heart Responds to the King
#WorshipAndTheWord – Come Let Us Adore Him
    #HereIAmToWorship #ChrisTomlin
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.” — Psalm 95:6 (NIV)
    THE CALL TO BOW
True worship begins when we stop exalting ourselves and start beholding Christ. Worship is not merely singing songs — it is surrendering our hearts before the King of glory. When Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, his response was humility, repentance, and awe.
Jesus did not come merely to improve our lives — He came to reign over them. Every time we worship, we acknowledge that He alone is worthy of our affection, obedience, and praise.
    LIGHT OF THE WORLD
The song reminds us that Christ stepped into darkness so we could walk in His marvelous light. He left heaven’s glory to redeem us through the Cross. Worship flows from revelation — when we truly see who Jesus is and what He has done, our hearts cannot remain indifferent.
John 8:12 — “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” (BSB)
    PRAYER
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see Your beauty and Your holiness. Teach me to worship You with sincerity and surrender. May my life become an offering that honours You. Amen.

  • A HEART OF INTEGRITY: LIVING FAITHFULLY BEFORE GOD

The truth is, God is not playing games. When you make a vow to Him, you enter into a covenant. Breaking that commitment is not a small matter. As seen in Acts of the Apostles 5:4, Peter made it clear that the property belonged to Ananias before he pledged it—but after committing it, it became a matter of truth before God.

This also reveals another important principle: faithfulness begins with the small. If a person is not faithful in giving from little, they will not be faithful when they have much. Obedience is not determined by the size of the blessing, but by the condition of the heart. A faithful heart honors God in every season.

Therefore, we must break every pattern of inconsistency and unfaithfulness. If you have been making promises to God and not fulfilling them, it is time to correct that pattern. Stop playing “hide and seek” with God. Walk in truth, integrity, and reverence.

In raising a generation that will serve God, we must teach them honesty in their commitments. Let them see that when we promise God something, we fulfill it. Let them learn that God deserves the best, not leftovers, and that every offering must come from a sincere and obedient heart.

The story of Ananias and Sapphira is not meant to condemn us, but to awaken us. God desires truth in the inward parts. Let your giving be genuine. Let your promises be fulfilled. And let your life reflect a heart that honors God completely.

  • ‎The Danger of Commercializing God’s Work

‎We live in a time when many who once served God with purity now serve Him with a price tag.

‎What was once ministry has now become market. What was once service has become service rendered only if paid for.

‎The altar is losing honor because many hands are now working for money, not for God.

‎This sermon calls the Church back to purity, sacrifice, and genuine service.

‎1. GOD NEVER DESIGNED MINISTRY TO BE A BUSINESS

‎Ministry is a calling, not a career. It is an assignment, not an advertisement.

‎Matthew 10:8 – “Freely you have received, freely give.”

‎Jesus reminded His disciples that everything they had came by grace, not by payment.

‎The anointing is not for sale. Miracles are not for sale. Prayers are not for sale.

‎When ministry becomes a market, the power of God departs.

‎2. COMMERCIALIZING GOD’S WORK IS A SIGN OF CORRUPTION

‎When Gehazi saw money instead of ministry, he lost destiny.

‎2 Kings 5:20–27 – Gehazi chased Naaman for money after the prophet refused it.
    ‎The result? Leprosy.

‎Many Christians today are chasing “Naaman money” instead of “Elisha purity.”

‎When your priority changes from souls to salary, you are already corrupting the calling.

‎3. TRUE SERVANTS DON’T SERVE FOR PAYMENT, THEY SERVE FOR GOD

‎Colossians 3:23–24 – “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men… knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward.”

‎God is the One who rewards His servants.

‎Money is not wrong, but making money the reason for ministry is wrong.

‎If you are a chorister, drummer, usher, evangelist, media worker, or cleaner and you only work when paid, you are no longer serving God—you are serving salary.

‎4. JESUS HIMSELF REBUKED THE SPIRIT OF COMMERCIALIZATION

‎John 2:13–16 – Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers.
‎He said: “You have turned My Father’s house into a marketplace!”

‎This is the same cry of the Spirit today.

    ‎Church is not a shop.
‎The altar is not an ATM.
‎The anointing is not for hire.

‎Anything done in God’s name for money loses heaven’s approval.

‎5. WHEN YOU COMMERCIALIZE YOUR GIFT, YOU LIMIT GOD’S USE OF YOU

‎When money becomes your master, God steps aside.

‎Matthew 6:24 – “You cannot serve God and mammon.”

‎Many lose spiritual gifts because they commercialized them.

‎The Holy Spirit withdraws where money becomes priority.

‎You cannot be both a minister and a merchant at the same time.

‎6. GOD BLESSES THOSE WHO SERVE HIM FREELY

‎Those who serve without price earn God’s supernatural provision.

‎1 Corinthians 9:18 – Paul said he preached the gospel “without charge.”
‎He knew that real reward comes from heaven, not honorarium.

‎When you put God first, He puts your destiny first.

‎7. A WARNING TO THOSE WHO TURN THE CALLING INTO A CAREER

‎God warned Israel about prophets who prophesied for money.

    ‎Micah 3:11 – “Her prophets divine for money…”
‎God condemned them and declared judgment.

‎Anyone who commercializes God’s gift is walking in dangerous territory.

    ‎The calling is holy.
‎Don’t turn it into a business.

‎8. A CALL BACK TO TRUE SERVICE

‎Return to the days when you sang without pay…

‎When you drummed without expecting transport fare…

    ‎When you cleaned God’s house with joy…

‎When evangelism was your passion, not your payment.

‎Romans 12:11 – “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”

    ‎Serve the Lord—not money.

‎You cannot carry power if your heart is full of price tags.

‎You cannot be used by God when you are ruled by money.

‎God is calling His people back to purity, sincerity, and genuine service.

    ‎Let ministry remain ministry.

    ‎Let God’s work remain holy.

‎Let your gift bring glory to God, not money to your pocket.

    ‎PRAYER
‎Father, purify my heart. Deliver me from the spirit of commercialization. Restore in me the joy of true service. Help me to serve You with sincerity and sacrifice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    ‎Pastor Abiodun Kadri
