🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 223 DATE: 11TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:2 CORINTHIANS 6:17 (NKJV) “Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.’” Devotional message God raises people within a generation to become instruments of transformation and deliverance. Therefore, we must arise and take our rightful place. But there is a condition: if you must become a deliverer, you cannot continue participating in the bondage from which you are called to deliver others. The Apostle Paul commands us, “Come out from among them and be separate.” This is a call to separation—not isolation from people, but separation from the sinful patterns, values, and practices that oppose God. Moses provides a powerful example. Although he had been raised in Pharaoh's household, there came a time when he refused to identify himself with the privileges and identity of Egypt. Hebrews 11:24–25 tells us that by faith Moses, when he had become of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. Child of God, you cannot become a saviour while remaining a captive to the same darkness. You cannot effectively pull someone out of a pit while you are still sitting in the same pit. You cannot lead people into holiness while deliberately embracing immorality. You cannot preach freedom while remaining enslaved to sin. You cannot become light to a generation while continually participating in the works of darkness. Scripture says, “For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” (2 Peter 2:19). Whatever you continually submit yourself to can eventually gain mastery over you. Therefore, when others are complaining, do not automatically join them. When others are compromising, choose obedience. When others are engaging in immorality, choose purity. When others are embracing corruption, choose integrity. When others are walking in darkness, choose to walk in the light. This does not mean that we become self-righteous or condemn those who are struggling. Rather, it means that we position ourselves in Christ so that we can become instruments through whom God brings them out. Light does not overcome darkness by becoming dark. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14). The reason light is valuable in darkness is because it remains light. If the light becomes darkness, it loses its ability to illuminate. Child of God, your generation needs people who will be different. Your family needs someone who will break ungodly patterns. Your community needs someone who will choose righteousness. Your workplace needs someone who will uphold integrity. Your nation needs men and women who will refuse corruption and pursue justice. You cannot deliver others from the darkness you have refused to leave. Prayer: Heavenly Father,Thank You for calling me to become an instrument of transformation in my generation. May I never become a captive of the very darkness You have called me to confront. " PATRIA POTESTAS" '...you received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing son-ship]...’ Romans 8:15 NKJV PAUL’S AUDIENCE would have understood his use of Roman adoption in teaching the benefits we receive as redeemed members of God’s family. A Roman father held absolute right and control, legally entitled ‘patria potestas’, over his children at any age. Roman adoption was a two-step process that transferred children from one patria potestas to another. 1) Emancipation. This step included a symbolic sale where the natural father twice ‘sold’ and ‘bought back’ his child, and a third where he didn’t buy them back, ending his paternal rights. 2) Vindication. Here the adoptive father presented his case for adoption to a Roman magistrate, who legally transferred the child to his patria potestas. Likewise, we have been transferred from satan’s grip to our heavenly Father’s blessed patria potestas! The benefits of Roman adoption were Paul’s chief focus in Romans chapter eight: a) The adopted person lost all rights in their old family and gained a new father, plus all rights of a legitimate member of their new family. b) They became heir to their new father’s estate. When there were other siblings, they became joint-heirs together. c) All their debts were completely cancelled, legal records of their history were expunged; the past had no effect on their new life. d) Seven citizens witnessed all legal adoptions. If the adoptee’s legitimacy was ever challenged, each witness could testify to their legitimate standing. That was a demonstration of true forgiveness.* *Apostle Paul, in today's text, showed similar forgiveness to an errant member of the Corinthian church. The young man was involved in the egregious sin of sleeping with his father's wife. News of this incest and the associated scandal so grieved the apostle that he cancelled his planned trip to them and wrote a stern rebuke, instructing them to excommunicate the offender. With time, when the discipline had had the expected effect of godly sorrow and repentance on both the incestuous fellow and the church, the apostle recommended that the man be restored fully to fellowship. The penitent offender needed the forgiveness and acceptance of the church to assuage his agony and recover his spiritual confidence.* *This narrative highlights a balanced blend of chastisement and charity. Apostle Paul reasoned that abandoning the excommunicated offender, even after his repentance, would cause him further torture and give Satan a chance to hijack the affair; "...for we are not ignorant of his devices", he said. Many believers seem to be ignorant of Satan's devices in this regard. Very often, a fallen Christian is left to rot on the island of banishment. Many such forgotten ones would have traced their way back home to Calvary and church, but for the hostile attitude of the believers around them.* *If God, Apostle Paul, and the Corinthian church could forgive the repentant incestuous backslider, who are we to keep such fallen brethren away from the means of grace? A church without discipline for erring members is not a church of Christ, but a mere association of religious people. God disciplines those that err and He expects us to follow suit. *"But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons"* (Hebrews 12:8). It is not designed to destroy offenders, but to correct, restore and preserve the purity of Christ's church. In this passage, Apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian believers on how to handle a repentant offender. He emphasized that discipline must be fair. Repentance and forgiveness must be genuine and believers must be vigilant against Satan's schemes. Every church should maintain a proper balance between firmness against sin and compassion toward the repentant. The attitude of those on discipline should also reflect humility and teachability according to the Word of God. *1. Proportionateness in Discipline* a. The offender committed immorality with his step mother. That was a heinous sin with no sign of remorse from the culprit and no discipline from the church leadership, until Apostle Paul rebuked them of the gravity of the sin. The man was eventually, excommunicated from the church (1 Corinthians 5). The most serious sin next to physical murder attracted the most serious discipline of excommunication. The discipline must be commensurate with the evil or wrongs that need to be judged or corrected. Paul the apostle declared that the punishment already administered by the majority was sufficient. This teaches that discipline must always be proportionate to the offence and should never become an instrument of revenge or bitterness. There are disciplines that only demand rebuke while there are some that will have more severe punishment. The punishment is to show God's displeasure with sin and to wake up the backslider or sinner from spiritual slumber. b. The first is to determine the gravity of the sin and what we want the punishment to achieve, which is majorly restoration. Once the purpose of correction has been achieved, prolonged discipline only produces unnecessary pain. God expects church leaders to administer discipline with wisdom, fairness and love, remembering that the ultimate goal is restoration rather than condemnation. This person was restored to membership and fellowship when the purpose of the excommunication was fulfilled. In fact, the church was not willing to shorten the punishment until Apostle Paul passionately, intervened. True and right attitude of repentance and restitution should command total and timely forgiveness and restoration, especially when the tendency to revert to such things have been crucified and destroyed. *Question* Do I administer correction with love and fairness or do I prolong discipline beyond what is necessary? *2. Pardon for Deserving* a. After genuine repentance comes genuine forgiveness. The man had the right attitude towards discipline. Some church members are averse to church discipline. Instead of enduring the pain, they decide to go to other churches where their sins would be overlooked. Such are not heaven bound. This man had originally separated himself from the Gentile sinners and identified with believers in Corinth. But the discipline put him in isolation from the only set of people he was closed with, i.e. the believers. Obviously, it is expected that there would be loneliness, isolation and sorrow. Since he refused to go back to the world, but endured the punishment, that was a commendable and expected attitude. b. Paul the apostle urged the church to forgive, comfort, and reaffirm their love for the disciplined brother so that he would not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. True Christian discipline always opens the door for restoration. Refusing to forgive a repentant believer contradicts the grace that God has freely extended to us in Christ. Forgiveness heals wounds, restores fellowship and reflects the heart of the gospel. The same thing happens when we are offended by fellow believers. We should be magnanimous in grace and forgiveness when there is genuine repentance. *Question* Am I willing to forgive and restore those who sincerely repent, just as Christ has forgiven me? *3. Projects of the Devils* a. Satan is never idle or passive. He has his own mapped out agenda, plans, projects for the saints and he always looks out for loopholes and times of carelessness through which he strikes at the least prepared time against the saints. Apostle Paul warned that unnecessarily prolonging the discipline and failure to forgive could give Satan an advantage over the church. The devil exploits bitterness, division, resentment and unforgiveness to weaken Christian fellowship. b. While discipline protects the church from sin, unforgiveness opens the door to Satan's destructive work. Believers must therefore, remain spiritually discerning, resisting every scheme of the enemy by walking in love, humility and reconciliation. *Question* Is there any unforgiveness or bitterness in my heart that could give the devil an opportunity in my life or church? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, grant me the wisdom to uphold biblical discipline with justice, love and compassion 🙏. 2.Father, give me a forgiving heart that willingly restores every genuinely repentant believer 🙏. 3.Give me the right attitude of humility, patience and teachability when I am rebuked or put under discipline 🙏. 4.Lord, deliver Your church from bitterness, division and every scheme of Satan 🙏. *HYMN:* Lower and lower *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 8-9. TRULY BORN AGAIN "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17 There are a few essential points when it concerns being born again. 1) There must be a confession of sins. In other words: you must regret your sins. You have to acknowledge that you have sinned against God. An example is King David's prayer which shows his remorse: 'Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love… Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin… Against You, You only, have I sinned' (Psalm 51:1-4). 2) You have to know what Jesus Christ did at Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus Christ is the only One who can take sin away. 'The blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin' (1 John 1:7). 3) There must be a real change in your heart when you are born again. This change is so great that you can say like 2 Corinthians 5:17 that you are created again by God. A whole new life has begun. A radical change These are the essential points to be truly born again. It is not only by believing that you come to heaven; nor do you get to heaven because you go to church. The evil one also believes that Jesus is the Son of God. There are so many things people say which make them think they are born again. My question is: 'what happened when you gave your life to Jesus'? To truly be born again this radical change has to take place in your life. This change makes you turn your back on your old self. Many Christians long to grow in their faith, yet they distance themselves from one of God's primary means of growing them, the local church. You cannot expect to become spiritually mature while consistently neglecting the fellowship, teaching, accountability, encouragement, and shepherding that God has graciously provided. Christianity was never designed to be lived in isolation. The church is not perfect because it is made up of redeemed sinners still being sanctified. You will encounter disappointments, misunderstandings, and imperfections. But those realities are not reasons to abandon the church, they are opportunities to practice grace, humility, forgiveness, and love. If you have drifted away, don't stay distant. Return. Worship with God's people. Sit under the faithful preaching of His Word. Serve with joy. Encourage one another. Grow together. God never intended for His children to grow alone. Devotional message: Yesterday, we saw that the Word of God is the fuel that keeps the fire burning on the altar. Today, we consider another vital key to igniting, receiving, and sustaining spiritual fire—fellowshipping with men and women who are burning for God. The people we surround ourselves with greatly influence our spiritual lives. Scripture declares that "iron sharpens iron." If you desire to grow spiritually, one of the wisest decisions you can make is to fellowship with believers who are passionate about God. Their hunger for prayer, love for God's Word, devotion to holiness, and pursuit of intimacy with Christ will inspire and strengthen your own walk with the Lord. Perhaps your prayer altar has grown cold, or you find it difficult to study the Scriptures or maintain a consistent fasting life. Do not remain isolated. Position yourself among believers who are genuinely on fire for God. As you pray with them, worship with them, study the Word together, and learn from their example, your own spiritual fire will be rekindled. God often uses the fellowship of believers to stir, encourage, and strengthen His people. We see this pattern throughout Scripture. The mighty men who gathered around David were transformed into courageous and valiant warriors. Likewise, the early Church devoted themselves continually to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayers. As a result, they remained spiritually vibrant, and God worked powerfully among them (Acts 2:42–47). Child of God, never underestimate the value of godly fellowship. Avoid isolation and seek the company of those who will encourage your faith and challenge you to pursue Christ more deeply. As you continually fellowship with believers who burn for God, your passion for prayer, the Word, holiness, righteousness, and intimacy with Christ will continue to grow. Godly fellowship sharpens, strengthens, and rekindles spiritual fire. Walking with those who burn for God helps us remain fervent in our devotion to Christ. *Prayer:* Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of fellowship with other believers. Surround me with men and women who love You sincerely and whose lives inspire me to pursue You more deeply. Help me to encourage others as they encourage me, and let our fellowship stir a greater passion for prayer, Your Word, holiness, and intimacy with You. Keep my spiritual fire burning for Your glory. *Good morning Everyone *BUILD RELATIONSHIPS BEFORE YOU NEED THEM* Many people say, "I don't have time to reach out to people. I'm too busy." But let me tell you something: It is far better to build relationships than to live in isolation. The same way you are too busy to call someone is the same way others may be too busy to call you. Life is not meant to be lived alone. We all need one another at different seasons of life. A phone call, a visit, a message of encouragement, or simply checking on someone can strengthen relationships that may one day become a great blessing. Do not allow pride, a busy schedule, or personal ambition to keep you from connecting with people. Humility builds bridges, while isolation destroys opportunities. The Bible reminds us: Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 And again: A man who has friends must himself be friendly. Proverbs 18:24 Remember, nobody is an island. We are created for fellowship, encouragement, and mutual support. So, make time for people. Build meaningful relationships before you need them. May God give you the wisdom, humility, and grace to value people and cultivate godly relationships. God bless you. **One of the world's most isolated Christian communities existed on an island almost no one remembers.** Far out in the Arabian Sea lies **Socotra**, a remote island off the coast of Yemen. Its towering dragon blood trees and otherworldly landscape look like something from another planet. But its most fascinating secret isn't its wildlife. It's its forgotten Christian history. Ancient tradition says that **Thomas the Apostle** stopped at Socotra on his journey to India and planted the seeds of the Christian faith. While historians debate whether Thomas himself visited the island, there is strong evidence that an ancient Christian community existed there for many centuries. Cut off from the rest of the Christian world, these believers developed their own customs while faithfully preserving the core of their faith. Medieval Arab travelers recorded meeting Christians on the island. Around **1280**, **Marco Polo** also described the island's Christian inhabitants, noting that they had lived in isolation for generations and were led by their own bishop, largely independent from the great Christian centers of the world. When Portuguese explorers arrived in **1507**, they, too, found Christians still worshiping there. For nearly a thousand years, the Gospel endured on one of the most remote islands on earth. Life is full of challenges. Life is full of uncertainties. My grandfather (Bishop David Oyedepo) said: to be challenged is scriptural but to be defeated is unscriptural. Challenges are real, our victory is more real. Challenges are gateway to our liftings in life. If there are no test and trials, how would you qualify for promotion? Your spiritual position, religious affiliation or association does not and will not exempt you from challenges in life. What defines your victory over those challenges is your ability to TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. You must be ready to take your life in your hands and fight. This is possible via personal approach in separation. Many are tired of their situation but are unwilling to seek God's face personally. They want a quick fix. They want an anointed man, a prophet to save them. BUT EVERYONE HAS EQUAL AND ACCESS TO GOD. The power and results generated during isolation and separation is highly potent and productive. Jacob, had an encounter with God that got him victory over Esau during separation. Moses had an encounter with God alone, that delivered the ten commandments. My victory over 2yrs barrenness came when I separated myself, alone at the redemption camp. Your challenge is not unique, your foundational problem is not peculiar, your inability to separate yourself, alone is what makes it peculiar. LEAVE EVERYTHING, ABANDON EVERYTHING AND SEPARATE YOUR SELF ALONE FOR AN ENCOUNTER WITH GOD FOR YOUR CHANGE OF DESTINY. You have explained to every prophet, it's time to talk to God directly. Yet his spirit remains remarkably intact, anchored by his faith, his music, his 3D printing hobby, and his life with Kristie and their family in New Braunfels. Separation is not an act of idleness. It is not a means to become slothful or inactive. It is rather an opportunity to be more engaging. It is an opportunity to tactful. There is always a greater purpose for every withdrawal. Destiny is established on intentional and purposeful engagement. Take a look at scripture: JACOB'S EXAMPLE: And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him. Jacob separated for warfare. He knows he can't win with Esau until he wins in the spiritual so he stayed back alone, to address this matter spiritually first. THERE ARE BATTLES YOU CAN'T WIN IN THE CHURCH - VICTORY IS ONLY ACHIEVED IN THE SECRET PLACE. JESUS'S EXAMPLE: And he withdrew himself...and prayed. Luke 5:16. Jesus always withdraw to commune with divinity. Every major event in the ministry of Jesus that culminates in signs and wonders is always preceded he withdrawing himself to pray. He withdraws always to draw virtue always no wonder miracles accompanied his ministry always. MOSES'S EXAMPLE: Moses Ascended Mount Sinai alone for 40 days to receive the Law Exo 24:18, and spent years in isolation in Midian before leading Israel. APOSTLE PAUL'S EXAMPLE: After his conversion, he spent three years in Arabia, away from the church, for reflection and preparation Gal 1:17-18. THE EAGLES/BILL GATES EXAMPLE: The Eagle withdraws to renew, revive and regrow. While Bill Gates withdraw to meditate and re-evaluate. What you do in isolation is what defines what you draw from it. The secret to life, success, progress and greatness is the capacity to self-withdraw for engagement with destiny. ARE YOU READY?
