READ WITH ME – DAY 15 Topic: Dare to Be Daniel Key Verse: "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank." — Daniel 1:8 Today's Reflection Every day, we are faced with choices. Some seem small, while others shape the course of our lives. Will we follow God or follow the crowd? Will we stand for what is right, or compromise just to be accepted? Daniel faced the same challenge. Though he was taken captive to Babylon and surrounded by a culture that opposed God, he made a decision before temptation came—he purposed in his heart to obey God. His conviction was not based on convenience or popularity. It was built on a deep commitment to God. Today, peer pressure may not come through a king's table, but it comes in many forms. Friends may encourage dishonesty, immorality, gossip, cheating, or other choices that dishonour God. Like Daniel, we must remember that pleasing God is more important than pleasing people. Standing alone is not always easy, but you are never alone when God is with you. Daniel's faithfulness brought God's favour, wisdom, and promotion because he refused to compromise. Purpose in your heart today to honour God in your words, your choices, your relationships, and your lifestyle. A heart fully surrendered to God cannot easily be pulled away by the pressure of the world. Today's Takeaway: A person who has already purposed in his or her heart to obey God will not easily be persuaded to compromise when temptation comes. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Daniel. Give me the courage to stand for You even when it is difficult. Help me not to follow the crowd or compromise my faith because of fear or pressure. Fill my heart with a deep love for Your Word and the strength to remain faithful in every situation. Whenever you have behaved poorly, are you truly remorseful, or do you easily excuse your actions with the thought, “That’s just the way I am?” Making excuses for your bad behavior does not make it right in God’s eyes. The truth is, you DO have the power to change! Through the strength of Jesus Christ, everyone has the ability to live a godly life, exercising discipline and self-control. The choice is yours! You can be victorious over selfish desires by claiming Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When you practice self-control, you reflect God’s own character. God doesn’t just make rash decisions, nor does He make mistakes! His plan is perfect, and so is His timing. He never gets in a hurry, but He always gets there on time! Give your character flaws to God and ask Him to create within you a clean heart and a right spirit! It doesn’t matter if you are struggling with appetite, gossiping, lying, cheating, anger issues, or any other character imperfection . . . whatever it is, God can handle it and He will wipe your slate clean, giving you a fresh start! It will be as if you had never sinned! And thankfully, God doesn’t rub your face in your transgression, nor does He say “I told you so.” He just opens wide His arms of love! Pray and ask Jesus to give you more self-control, and with His Holy Spirit power you will begin to change . . . one thought, one word, one action at a time! "DEAL WITH THE STUMBLING BLOCKS (1)" 'Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block…in your brother’s way.’ Romans 14:13 NIV IF YOU want to win someone to Christ, there are certain stumbling blocks you may have to remove. Let’s be honest, people are turned off by religion for a lot of reasons—legitimate ones. Let’s look at some: 1) Hypocrisy. Think about the twelve disciples; one of them betrayed Jesus, one denied Him, and one doubted Him. That’s a 25% failure rate! But the good news is, Jesus continues to love us and work with us in spite of our problems. 2) Terminology. If you grew up in the church, you’re probably familiar with Bible terminology. But don’t assume everybody else is, or you’ll talk over their heads. When Jesus talked to shepherds, He discussed sheep. When He talked to farmers, He discussed sowing and reaping. Identify the person’s interests and spiritual needs, then use language they understand. 3) Negative emphasis. If your major emphasis is on what people can’t do, they’ll run in the opposite direction. A well-known preacher says, ‘I grew up understanding what our church was against, but never what it was for. Basically, we were against everything!’ Smiling, he added, ‘We preached against smoking and drinking. We especially preached against adultery, because we believed that could lead to dancing.’ Seriously, the gospel is not about what you lose when you come to Christ, but what you gain. Jesus said, ‘…I have come that they may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10 NIV). If you’re serious about winning people to Christ, you must recognise the stumbling blocks that stand in their way and try to remove them. However, towards the end of the examination, the teacher noticed that Emily was restless and behaving in a suspicious way. She walked up to her table and asked her to raise her answer booklet. Lo and behold, there was a full page of all the answers neatly scribbled. The teacher wrote *"CHEATED"* on her examination answer booklet in bold letters and walked her out of the examination hall. Check yourself! Do you engage in stealing, cheating, backbiting, and other vices that you condemn in other people? *Like Jesus warned, you're to remove the log of wood in your own eyes before removing the speck from others. It is true that you cannot give out what you don't have. Instead of always pointing accusing fingers at others, examine yourself and pray to be free from every form of sinful behaviour. God is impartial and He expects His children to reflect His character in their relationships with others. Favouritism is the act of treating people differently based on their appearance, wealth, social status, tribe or influence. Scriptures strongly condemn this attitude because it contradicts the gospel of Christ, who died for all and takes every soul to be equally in need of redemption. Every believer must guard against prejudice and show the same love and respect to everyone, knowing that all people are created in God's image. *1. The Commandment against Favouritism* a.James begins with a direct command: *"My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ... with respect of persons."* The Christian faith is incompatible with favouritism and partiality. Genuine faith in Christ cannot coexist with partiality. God created each soul with His breath, He gave the same life to all and made the same heaven for all without discrimination. The gospel is the same and the conditions for salvation are the same for all. It is the same Rapture for all believers. The Gospel of Christ breaks all barriers, via social, race, status, education and wealth. During Christ days here on earth, He welcomed the rich and the poor, the influential and the rejected without discrimination. When believers show favouritism, they misrepresent the nature of Christ and weaken the testimony of the Church. b. The faith of Christ is a leveler. *"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus"* (Galatians 3:28). True Christianity values people because of who they are before God, not because of what they possess. *Question* Does my attitude towards people reflect Christ's impartial love or am I influenced by their social status and outward appearance? *2. Cases of Favouritism* a. James illustrates favouritism with the example of giving the wealthy man a place of honour while humiliating the poor man. Such conduct exposes worldly thinking and evil motives. Definitely, people have different positions and some are given special honour because of their positions. However, giving honour to such people should not translate to dishonouring or disrespecting others. Everyone should be given due honour and respect. *"Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king"* (1 Peter 2:17). The Church should be a place where everyone receives equal dignity and acceptance. Judging people by external appearance instead of godly character creates division and dishonours God. Believers must consciously reject every form of discrimination based on wealth, education, ethnicity or influence. b.Those who are partial *"are become judges of evil thoughts"* because it involves pride, deriding and degrading God's creatures in their thoughts. The Scriptures ask, *"Who maketh thee to differ?"*. All God's human creations regardless of race, social and material status are equal before Him. Also, in the day of judgment, there will be no special consideration or special treatment of anybody before God. God will judge without any partiality where everybody will be naked before Him and the servant will be freed from their masters. *Question* Do I ever treat someone differently because of his or her appearance, possessions, position or background? *3. Concerns Over Favouritism* a.James gives serious reasons why favouritism is sinful and does not make sense. The people who are poor are often more serious with their faith than those we specially esteem because of who and what they possess. *"Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom?"*. The people Jesus chose as His disciples were not even lettered men and yet they were the people who *"turned the world upside down"* and their ministries remain blessings to generations after them. God has often chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of His kingdom. Ironically, some of those receiving preferential treatment are sometimes the very people who oppress the poor. b. Above all, favouritism violates the royal law: *"Love your neighbour as yourself."* Anyone who practices partiality becomes guilty of sin before God. Love cannot be selective; it must be impartial, sincere and Christ-like. *Question* Am I fulfilling the royal law of love by treating every person with equal respect and compassion? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, forgive me for every form of favouritism, prejudice and partiality in my heart 🙏. 2.Father, fill me with Christ's love so that I will treat every person with dignity and respect 🙏. 3.Purge Your Church from all carnal discriminations and favouritism 🙏. 4.Lord, help our church to reflect Your impartial nature and welcome everyone without discrimination🙏. *HYMN:* The way of the cross leads home *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EPHESIANS 1-3. 2. Help us to know You as our Father, to trust in Your fatherly love for us, and in Your fatherly care. Still Relevant in 2026. Still God’s Truth. ✝️ If Hebrews 13:1–5 were written to Gen Z today, it might sound something like this: Don’t stop caring about people. In a world that often values followers over friendships, keep showing genuine love. Be kind, even when no one is watching. Don’t ignore people simply because they’re strangers or different from you. A small act of kindness can change someone’s life, and you never know how God may use your compassion. Don’t scroll past people who are hurting. Whether they’re struggling with depression, loneliness, poverty, illness, or injustice, don’t say, “That’s not my problem.” Put yourself in their shoes. Jesus calls us to carry one another’s burdens. Treat marriage with honor. It isn’t just another relationship you can walk away from when things become difficult. God designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant built on faithfulness, trust, and sacrificial love. Don’t let a culture of hookups, pornography, cheating, or casual sex convince you that purity no longer matters. God’s standards haven’t changed because society has. Don’t spend your life comparing yourself with everyone else. Social media will always show someone with a better job, a better body, a better car, a better vacation, or a better lifestyle. Chasing what everyone else has will only steal your peace. Learn to be grateful for what God has already given you. Most importantly, remember this promise: God has never ghosted you. Friends may leave. Relationships may end. People may disappoint you. But Jesus says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” That promise is stronger than any trend, algorithm, or opinion. The world will constantly tell you to want more, be more, and chase more. John 16:33 NLT I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Good morning and praise God. I hope you're having a great day. One day we were in mission field. We had visited many families living in what looked like farm life and were so happy. Then we say a home that was different. We were not sure the gate would even be opened for us. Surprisingly we were welcomed by a man who was slightly high. We shared word Word with him and when we were about to pray we invited him to share with us if he had anything that pressed him that we should pray and also if he wished to accept Christ. He was silent for a moment but then in tears opened his heart to us. He told us how he had worked hard outside country whilst supporting his family back home. After explaining so much he laid bare his most hurting reality that had pushed him to be alcoholic. He once returned home to find that his wife trusted wife had been cheating on him. She had affairs whilst enjoying the fruits of the man's labor. The man had then opted for a lone home than do something worse. Look at your life, do you really have the joy of the LORD? Do you have peace? It is unfortunate that nobody sees beyond the outside beauty except God who inspects the deepest part of us. We have many whose lives may be likened to a grave with the best looking tombstone. We know that no matter how much flowers we put up there the decomposing body inside is the reality! Christ therefore calls "Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God." Rev 3:2 To expound to you and from all I have learned is that real peace is not in much wealth, positions, skills, connections or what else this world preaches but rather in your having peace with God. Having this strong bind to your Maker that poverty, sickness and all other world causers of trials and sorrows cannot breach. I walked into gated community and saw some people there have abject poverty albeit in their hearts for outside they look rich and living best lives! You will never know until you interact with some only to realize how much pain they have decided to hold by themselves and almost blowing up! Lover of God, we have a higher calling. Jesus remind us that real peace can only be found in Him! It is not so easy especially when you've been corrupted to believe that the riches in this world will ever give you peace. It is not until you realize that your insufficiency is part of your calling. God said to Paul when he had cried so much about his condition "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." I know of someone thinking that I am preaching the poverty gospel and I would still astonish them with this answer "happy are the poor in spirit, for theirs is kingdom of Heaven." Matt 5:3 We must recognize our insufficiency and instead of crying day in day out trust His supplications for what doesn't profit a man to gain whole world and forfeit their own soul? If your insufficiency, your sorrows and trials doesn't drive you nearer to God,you must have been held up so long in elementary spiritual classes. Grow up! In conclusion, Christ overcome the world for you and me. It is however your duty and my duty to get near to Him and learn from Him. One time He took a whip and threw the money changers out of the temple; another time He healed the sick and fed the hungry. There’s a lesson here: you can become complacent and say, ‘I know there’s trouble in the world. It’s regrettable. But as long as it doesn’t touch me personally, I’d prefer not to think about it. Cheating goes on every day in business and politics. That’s just the way things are.’ Like the priest and the Levite in the story of the Good Samaritan, you ‘pass by on the other side’ (Luke 10:30-36). The sad fact is that even churches that faithfully preach the Word and win souls (two all-important missions) fail in this area. Why? Because they’re afraid of being identified with those who promote a ‘social gospel’. But the opposite should concern us! ‘If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity…how can the love of God be in him?…Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth’ (1John 3:17-18 NIV). What moves you? Success in business? Building a great family? Excelling in ministry? Those are worthy goals, but if you want to know what moved Christ, read this: ‘When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion.’ So don’t lose your compassionate edge. Isaac was an only son whose name meant _laughter,_ a child of promise and therefore very beloved to his parents. Yet Abraham was willing to sacrifice him to God.* *By that act, Abraham's obedience and faith were only being put to the test. He was willing to part with his highest love and hope on earth... to even go on a three-day journey to obey God's extraordinary command. He was moved neither by Isaac's affecting remark nor the thought of how others would react to him. Satisfied that Abraham's devotion to Him was no half measure, God intervened and prevented him from sacrificing Isaac. A lamb was divinely provided in his stead, a pointer to the Lord Jesus Christ, the "Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world".* *As you reflect on all these, consider how you will fare in God's test of obedience and faith. He requested Abraham to *"walk before me and be thou perfect"* (Genesis 17:1). Jesus also emphasised that the first commandment, broadly speaking, has to do with perfect love for God (Mark 12:30). It is easier for man to profess love for someone without actually, having or demonstrating that love. Great blessings of God, especially those that are earned and not just unmerited, are based on our love for God. True love for God, beyond mere mouth profession, must be tested by God to ascertain its genuineness. It is necessary for man so that man will see himself the way God sees him and not his mere mouth profession. Abraham, did not just profess love for God, He actually, manifested it and great generational blessings followed. *1. Costly Test: Futuristic Significance* a. Abraham had passed through many things that demanded great sacrifices for God. It started with God asking him to leave his country to a strange land that he had never been to. At a point, he had to also separate from his nephew, Lot that he loved so much. The climax of the sacrifice that God expected from him was the sacrifice of his only promised son. It was a test of his professed perfect love for God. The greater the divine blessings coming the way of anyone, the more severe and demanding is the test of love for God that must be passed. Don't be worried about the trials of faith and divine demands, focus on the blessings, both temporal and eternal, that await you. b. *"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt (or test) Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am"*. Abraham was always available to God without giving any excuse at any time. To him, God is first and every other engagement is secondary. Can you think of what God asked Abraham to do? First, Abraham understood that it was God speaking and not a stranger. Believers should be well groomed in the Bible and in hearing from God that they can discern the voice of God from other voices. *"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah"*. The divine emphasis was to help Abraham to see the gravity of the sacrifice so that he would be able to make an informed and not just sentimental or emotional decision. *"And offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of"*. Abraham, from his first encounter with God knew that if God would tell him to go anywhere, he would not tell him the exact place as at the first. When he was called to leave his country, he was just told to take off to a land he would show him. God repeated this same mode here. Always watch for the way God uses to lead you. It may not be the same way He leads others. Did Abraham know that it was a test? The context does not show that. This is how man's test is different from that of God. In most cases, when a divine test comes unannounced, the tested will not know that it is a test from God. However, it is a test of his love for God and faith in God. *Question* How is this a test of his faith and a test of his love for God? *2. Courageous Triumph: Faith Sacrifice* a. Human sacrifice was condemned by God and that was one of the reasons the land of Canaan was overthrown. Interestingly, Abraham counted himself too small to question God since he had no doubt that it was from God. Unquestioning and immediate obedience to God is one of the evidences of our love and faith in God. Willingness to sacrifice your most loved "Isaac" without looking back is true spirituality in action. *"Abraham rose up early in the morning..."* Obviously, he did not tell the wife and all those who could have discouraged him. He had known in his walk with God that God would never do evil but bless. He practiced the consecration of the New Testament saints where in Luke 14:26 Jesus said it is only those who can sacrifice all their relationships for Christ that can be His disciples. *"On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off"*. Three days was enough for Abraham to have a rethink, but his mind was fixed. Those who love God have a fixed mind which cannot be swayed by any relation or public opinion. Abraham also did not allow his young men to go far with him because they could also use emotions to discourage him from doing the will of God. *"And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you"*. The consecrated are not seeking human sympathy. Their song is "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back". b. Abraham decided to go alone with Isaac to the place of sacrifice. Isaac was about 19+ years of age at this time. So, he could carry the wood and other things. He was intelligent enough to ask his father questions. *"And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"*. This question could force tears and emotions from Abraham, but Abraham was determined to obey God at all cost. Isaac himself had strong faith and confidence in his father and of course in his God, so he did not rebel. He behaved like Jesus who *"....he is brought as a Lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth"* (Isaiah 53:7). b. Abraham was a man of faith truly. The New Testament says that he believed God will resurrect Isaac because the promise of God for him was based on Isaac being alive (Hebrews 11: 19). Our consecration to God is a function of our faith in God. When there is strong faith in God as a faithful Rewarder now in time and eternity; when there is faith in the pronounced promises and promised eternity, consecration becomes very easy. *"And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering"*. The father exercised perfect love and faith in God while the son likewise demonstrated perfect voluntary obedience. *"And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son"*. *Question* Do you have the faith of Abraham and Isaac? *3. Compensation for the Trustworthy: Faithful Saviour* Abraham was totally ignorant of the purpose of the test that it was beyond him and that God wanted to use it for a generational lesson. Apart from the test of his faith and love for Him, it was meant to present a figure of the coming Son of God who voluntarily submitted Himself to sacrifice for the salvation of the whole world. It was to present the gospel in the Old Testament. He really wanted to sacrifice his son before *"the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I"*. What did Abraham lose by his uncommon consecration? Nothing. What did he gain? Revelation of the gospel and confirmation of generational blessings. No sacrifice should be too big for a true child of God. It is always a blessing in disguise. There are always reciprocal blessings when you love God purely and perfectly above all else. God will always lavish the blessings of heaven on you in return. *Question* Are you ready to fully love God perfectly and always be willing to consecrate anything God demands without questioning? *Prayer Points* 1.Father circumcise my heart to love You perfectly 🙏. 2.Give me grace to be willing that nothing will be too much to consecrate to You 🙏. 3.Give me the faith of Abraham that always looks beyond the present but focuses on Your promises 🙏. 4.Father, Take all Your children deeper in the love of Jesus🙏. *HYMN:* Nothing Between *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 23-25. 2. Guidelines for Living. July 21st, 2026 What Does It Mean To Have Integrity? Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. James 4:17, NLT. Question: Would you hire a contractor to build a house for you who comes up with the cheapest bid, though you have read about him being sued for cheating on materials he has used for others, substituting inferior products for the more expensive ones called for in the specifications? Would you allow a doctor to operate on you who cheated his way through med school? Or how would you feel about flying on an airplane if you knew the safety inspector had been given a bribe to sign off on safety regulations, certifying that the plane was safe to fly when, in fact, he knew there were major mechanical problems that could bring down that plane? Foolish questions? Not really. C. S. Lewis once said that you have to know what a straight line is before you know what a crooked one is. Contractors who cheat, doctors who are incompetent, and safety inspectors who take bribes lack something that for centuries has been called integrity. No matter how modern theorists camouflage and whitewash the issues, you get very uncomfortable quickly when you think you might become the victim of someone’s lack of integrity. P.B. Fitzwater defined integrity as “the sum and total of a person’s choices.” Your daily choices and decisions, right or wrong, define your integrity, and integrity is the backbone of your character. Time allows a few observations and reflections that may help you bring the whole issue into clearer focus in your personal life. First, I would like to point out that you are not born with integrity or expedience. It is something that you learn. Character is usually formed during the early years of your life as you learn that certain things are right and others are wrong. But when integrity is lacking it can be developed just as any skill or ability is. That’s what conversion is about; an understanding of right and wrong, of that which is moral and immoral, it all contributes to character development. Observation #2: Your character is the sum total of your choices and decisions in life. Daily choices come with consequences attached to them, and when you come down on one side or the other, the sum of those consequences determines who you are. The aggregate total of what you decide to do—right or wrong—is the material that constitutes your personality and who you are. Observation #3: Your reputation is what others think you to be, while character is what you really are. Remember that integrity is not measured in percentages as a batting average. Either you have it or you don’t. Observation #4: Doing right is its own reward. In an airport bookstore I made a purchase with a charge card. The clerk inadvertently put both slips—the customer’s and the merchant’s in the binding of the book; it meant his boss wouldn’t get paid for the book. “Excuse me, I said, “If you don’t have the charge slip, your boss doesn’t get paid for my book.” Did he thank me? No. Instead he looked at me with a kind of “you’re really stupid” look, which, for a moment, made me feel like a sucker. But I’m not. Long ago William Shakespeare said, “To thine own self be true and it shall follow as the day the night, thou can’t not then be false to any man.” Regardless of what others choose to do, integrity is my choice, and I made it a long time ago. It’s part of who I am and part of whom I chose to be. Finally, God blesses those who choose the somewhat less traveled path of integrity. Read Psalm 1, friend. TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS. SERMON TOPIC: GOD'S ANSWER TO CORRUPTION Anchor Text: Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." A WAKE-UP CALL Corruption is one of the greatest enemies of individuals, families, churches, businesses, and nations. It destroys trust, weakens institutions, steals the future of the young, and dishonors God. Today, corruption is no longer seen only in government offices. It appears in schools through examination malpractice, in businesses through dishonesty, in churches through manipulation, in homes through deception, and even in personal lives through compromise. Many ask, "Who will save our nation?" God's answer is clear: He changes people before He changes nations. God's solution to corruption is not merely better laws—it is transformed hearts. > 2 Chronicles 7:14 – "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land." KEY BIBLE PASSAGES 1. Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness lifts a nation; corruption brings shame and destruction. 2. Micah 6:8 "He has shown you... what is good: to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." God demands justice, mercy, and humility—not exploitation. 3. Luke 19:1–10 (Zacchaeus) A corrupt tax collector encountered Jesus, repented, restored what he had stolen, and became a changed man. This shows that genuine repentance produces visible transformation. 4. Exodus 18:21 Moses was instructed to appoint leaders who were: Able God-fearing Truthful Haters of dishonest gain Godly leadership begins with godly character. POINT 1: GOD CHANGES THE HEART BEFORE HE CHANGES THE NATION > Ezekiel 36:26 Corruption begins inside the heart before it appears in society. A greedy heart will produce dishonest hands. A selfish heart will create unjust systems. God's answer is a new heart. Religion alone cannot cure corruption. Only Christ can. Spiritual Insight: Every national problem is first a spiritual problem. POINT 2: INTEGRITY IS GOD'S CURRENCY > Proverbs 11:3 Integrity means doing what is right when nobody is watching. God blesses honest people. Dishonest gain may produce temporary wealth but permanent sorrow. Many have money but no peace. Integrity attracts God's favor. Joseph refused corruption in Potiphar's house. Daniel refused compromise in Babylon. Their integrity eventually promoted them. POINT 3: REPENTANCE MUST PRODUCE RESTITUTION Zacchaeus did not merely say, "Lord, forgive me." He also said, "If I have cheated anyone, I restore fourfold." POINT 4: BELIEVERS ARE THE LIGHT AGAINST DARKNESS > Matthew 5:13–16 The church must not imitate the corruption around it. Believers should be known for: Honesty Transparency Faithfulness Accountability Justice We cannot condemn corruption publicly while practicing dishonesty privately. Your office should become better because you work there. Your business should reflect heaven's values. Your family should demonstrate integrity. BIBLICAL CASE STUDY ZACCHAEUS (Luke 19:1–10) Zacchaeus became rich through dishonest practices. People hated him because of corruption. Then Jesus entered his house. One encounter with Christ changed everything. Instead of stealing more, he started giving. Instead of cheating, he started restoring. Jesus concluded, "Today salvation has come to this house." Salvation transformed both his heart and his conduct. REAL-LIFE ILLUSTRATION A contractor was offered a large government contract on the condition that he paid a bribe. He refused because of his Christian conviction. He lost the contract. Months later, investigators uncovered widespread corruption involving that project. Because he had remained honest, his reputation stayed intact, and he was later entrusted with an even greater opportunity. Integrity may seem costly today, but it often protects and rewards tomorrow. PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS 1. Refuse every form of bribery and dishonesty. 2. Be truthful in your workplace, business, and family. 3. Return what does not belong to you if possible. 4. Teach your children that character is more valuable than quick wealth. 5. Pray regularly for righteous leaders and for God's mercy upon your nation. 6. Let your daily life reflect Christ wherever you are. DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS Corruption flourishes where the fear of God disappears. Integrity is worship in everyday life. National revival begins with personal repentance. God is more interested in holy people than merely prosperous people. Lasting change comes through transformed hearts empowered by the Holy Spirit. QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION 1. Are there areas of compromise in my own life? 2. Would people describe me as trustworthy? 3. Am I willing to lose money rather than lose my integrity? 4. CALL TO ACTION God's answer to corruption is not merely stricter laws or harsher punishments. His answer is changed hearts, righteous living, and courageous believers who refuse to compromise. The world does not simply need more intelligent people—it needs more people of integrity. When Christians walk in truth, they become salt that preserves society and light that exposes darkness. Today, make a fresh commitment: Choose righteousness over riches, integrity over influence, and obedience over compromise. As we surrender our hearts to Christ, He can use us to bring healing to our homes, our churches, and our nation. Satan enslaves people by enticing them to sin. He lied to Eve and tricked her to sin. He caused Cain to kill Abel. He turns people against the truth to subject them to bondage. Satan has never changed his tricks. Today's text describes him as a liar and a murderer. He deceives people into believing that lying, cheating, hatred, unforgiveness, fighting, and killings are normal. He turns them from the truth as well as giving them empty promises. The one who listens to and follows Satan consistently is in perpetual bondage. Are you in bondage of sin? He was a very wicked king who ordered James to be killed and Peter to be arrested and put in jail. He planned to kill Peter too, but the Church prayed, and Peter was miraculously delivered. At this point, God did not bring judgment upon Herod, probably to give him a chance to repent. Yet, Herod hardened his heart and became proud. He had no regard for the miracle of the deliverance of Peter. Now, the people gathered to tell him that he is equal with God. Instead of Herod to reject such praise, he was happy. He did not think of giving the glory to God. An angel of the Lord was sent to deliver Peter, while an angel of the Lord was also sent to strike down Herod the proud king. He was thereafter eaten up by worms. The Bible says that *"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall"* (Proverbs 16:18). Pride is not the nature of God, and anyone who does not manifest the nature of God cannot see God at last. *Having the nature of God starts when a sinner repents and surrenders his life to Christ.* *A child of God will in humility always give glory to God for all that he is able to achieve and become in life. Are you proud because of the achievements of your parents, or because you are an 'A' student?
