August 16, 2026 (day 228/365) SUNDAY GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY “The Strength of Humility” Numbers 12:3 “Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any person who was on the face of the earth.” This is the Word of God. Numbers 12 shows how jealousy and pride led Miriam and Aaron to speak against Moses. Yet Moses did not defend himself with anger; he remained humble and left the matter in God's hands. Humility does not mean weakness. It means trusting God enough not to fight for our own position or recognition. When others are honored, we can rejoice rather than become jealous. Saturday, 15th August, 2026 TITLE: "HOLD FAST: GOD IS FAITHFUL TO HIS PROMISES" ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S) Numbers 23:19 (KJV) "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" QUOTE TO REFLECT ON "God's promises are dependable because His character never changes." DAY'S REFLECTION Human beings can make promises and later change their minds, forget their commitments, or become unable to fulfil what they said. God, however, is completely different. Numbers 23:19 declares that "God is not a man, that he should lie." His character is perfectly truthful, and His Word can always be trusted. The word "faithful" describes someone who is dependable, trustworthy, and consistent. When God speaks, His Word carries the certainty of His character. He does not make empty promises. If He has said it, He has the power and integrity to bring it to pass according to His will and timing. The second part of the message comes from Hebrews 10:23: "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering." To hold fast means to cling firmly and refuse to let go. Wavering means becoming uncertain, unstable, or doubtful. Faith does not mean that we never experience questions or difficult emotions; it means that we refuse to abandon our confidence in God when circumstances become difficult. Life can test our faith. Sometimes we pray for an answer and nothing seems to change. Sometimes circumstances appear to contradict what God has promised. At such moments, our feelings may say, "Give up," but God's Word says, "Hold fast." Notice why we can hold fast: "for he is faithful that promised." Our confidence is not based on how strong we feel today. It is based on how faithful God is. Even when our strength is weak, His character remains unchanged. Therefore, do not measure God's faithfulness by today's circumstances. Continue trusting Him. Keep praying. Keep obeying His Word. Keep your confession of faith strong. The God who made the promise is faithful, and He knows exactly when and how to fulfil His purposes. Hold fast. Do not waver. God has not changed. Daily Bible Lesson. TRUTH IS NOT POPULAR—WHY DO SO FEW FOLLOW JESUS IN HIS OWN SABBATH PATH? “As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.” — Luke 4:16 Luke does not describe a rare visit. He reveals Christ’s custom. The Sabbath was not an accident in His life. It was part of His faithful walk with the Father. TRUTH IS NOT DECIDED BY THE CROWD Noah stood with God while the world laughed. Elijah stood for truth while a nation compromised. Jesus stood upon Scripture while religious leaders defended tradition. The crowd may be sincere— and still be wrong. “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil.” — Exodus 23:2 Jesus did not ask: What is popular? What is comfortable? What does the majority practice? He answered: “It is written.” — Matthew 4:4 Truth is not settled by numbers. It is settled by God’s Word. JESUS LEFT AN EXAMPLE—NOT MERELY A MESSAGE Jesus did not only say: “Believe in Me.” He also said: “Follow Me.” — Matthew 4:19 The Savior who died for us also showed us how to live. “Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps.” — 1 Peter 2:21 Many admire Jesus. Few imitate Him. Many call Him Lord. Few follow when obedience becomes unpopular. “Why call ye Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” — Luke 6:46 JESUS REVEALED TRUE SABBATH-KEEPING The same Jesus who created the Sabbath also kept it. “The Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.” — Mark 2:28 He stripped away man-made burdens and restored its true beauty: Worship. Mercy. Healing. Fellowship. Rest in God. “It is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.” — Matthew 12:12 Jesus did not abolish the Sabbath. He rescued it from legalism and revealed its Christ-centered purpose. The Sabbath points to Him as: Creator. Redeemer. Lord. Rest for the weary soul. “Come unto Me… and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 THE SABBATH WILL OUTLIVE SIN The Sabbath did not begin with Israel. It began in Eden—before sin, before nations, and before denominations. “God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.” — Genesis 2:3 Jesus honored it during His earthly life. And Scripture reveals that the redeemed will worship from Sabbath to Sabbath in the new earth. “From one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me.” — Isaiah 66:23 The Sabbath began before sin, was exemplified by Christ during redemption, and will remain when sin is gone forever. What God sanctified in Eden, what Jesus honored on earth, and what the redeemed will celebrate eternally— should not be strange to Christ’s followers today. ONLY JESUS SAVES We are not saved by keeping a day. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. “By grace are ye saved through faith.” — Ephesians 2:8 But saving grace does not excuse rebellion. It forgives the sinner, transforms the heart, and writes God’s law within. “I will put My laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” — Hebrews 8:10 Obedience is not the price of salvation. It is the fruit of salvation. “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15 Truth without Christ becomes cold. Obedience without love becomes legalism. But faith that beholds Calvary produces loving loyalty. THE REAL ISSUE IS AUTHORITY The deepest Sabbath question is not merely: Which day? It is: Who rules my conscience—Christ or tradition? Christ warned against worship built upon human commands. “In vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” — Matthew 15:9 A tradition may be ancient. It may be popular. It may be defended by millions. But age cannot sanctify error. Popularity cannot replace divine authority. “To the law and to the testimony.” — Isaiah 8:20 CHRIST IS CALLING YOU CLOSER Perhaps you followed tradition sincerely. Jesus is not calling you to pride, bitterness, or argument. He is calling you to: Repentance. Faith. Surrender. Obedience. Repent of placing human authority above His Word. Believe—not in your obedience, but in His cleansing blood. Surrender to His transforming grace. Follow wherever His truth leads. “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” — 1 John 1:7 “These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth.” — Revelation 14:4 “The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable Christian.” — The Ministry of Healing, p. 470 The narrow path has never been crowded. But Jesus walks there. The crowd cannot forgive you. Tradition cannot transform you. A denomination cannot save you. Only Christ can. Do not measure truth by the crowd. Measure everything by Christ and His Word. Prayer Lord Jesus, forgive my compromise. Cleanse me by Your blood, write Your law upon my heart, teach me to keep Your Sabbath as You did—with worship, mercy, love, and joy—and give me courage to follow You from this earth into eternity.

Matthew 19:13-26 After his treatise on divorce and marriage, Jesus is tired as the disciples are trying to limit the numbers of those approaching them. Again, Jesus emphasizes the importance of the Child and tells them that His kingdom only belongs to those who are as children. So Jesus lays hands on them, imparting blessings we will never know upon them. Then as He leaves there, He is approached by a man with the energy of an eager student speaking to his favorite professor asking what's going to be on the test. What good thing must I do to get eternal life? Jesus can see the eager attitude and this man's heart that he isn't truly willing to do what it takes to receive eternal life so he tells him simply, “Keep the commandments” At this the man probably felt good, “keep the commandments“? I could do that in my sleep. What else? And it's at this question that Jesus looks at him and sees his heart. Sees what it is that would make this man a true follower of Jesus and sees the first thing that will stop his progress. Which ones? The man asks and Jesus listed a few, do not murder being the first. I mean it's not all that difficult to not murder someone. And with the eager enthusiasm as a young student would have confidently asks a question you can just hear the tone of as Jesus has answered this man positively the previous three times he asked a question. You can almost hear the smugness as he asks, Is there anything else I lack? And Jesus addresses the one issue that will keep this man from obtaining eternal life, go, sell all you own to give to the poor and come follow me. And the young man walked away sad because he was rich. There's a saying I never really understood until recently “the poor are some of the most generous people on earth.” And I've seen it displayed over and over again. A homeless man offers a dollar to someone in more need than he is. While a rich man seals up his wallet and tucks it away when asked. But Jesus is cautioning his disciples about the rich. First, He is not saying that all rich people are condemned as some have done so based on a religion featuring a progressive political agenda that is not what He ever intended. Second, He's essentially saying that following Him will cost the disciple everything. If what you have, you cling to, it may be necessary to sell all you have. Any thing(s) that may get in the way of total dedication to Him must be cut off and eliminated. It truly is a heavy cost to follow Him. In some countries, following Him costs your life. In this country it's becoming more and more difficult to follow Him if you follow with biblical vigor and faith. For all it costs something, for some, it costs everything. [13] Then some children were brought to Him so that He would lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. [14] But Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” [15] After laying His hands on them, He departed from there. [16] And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?” [17] And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” [18] Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony; [19] Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” [20] The young man *said to Him, “All these I have kept; what am I still lacking?” [21] Jesus said to him, “If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” [22] But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property. [23] And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. [24] And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” [25] When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?” [26] And looking at them, Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Psalm 89:34 READ: Genesis 17:1-8 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. MESSAGE: In today's Bible reading, God made a covenant with Abram and promised to make him a father of many nations, then changed his name to Abraham. God never lies, so all the promises that He made to Abraham were fulfilled. Numbers 23:19 says: "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" When God makes a covenant with a person, He always fulfils His part, and this gives the fellow access to everything he or she will ever need on earth. These things include long life, prosperity, favour, blessings, joy, peace, divine health, and everything good. The devil, on the other hand, is unable to keep any covenant he makes. He breaks his promises at will because he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44). People often enter into covenants with other parties to receive something from them, while also giving something in return. The real weight of a covenant, however, comes when one of the parties involved is unable to fulfil their obligations. In most cases, a heavy weight of death is the consequence for breaking a covenant. When people join secret societies, they enter into covenants. When they do not do the things they are asked to do in the group, the penalty is usually death. You might be asking yourself, "Why would anybody want to join a cult knowing that it could lead to their death?" Some people claim that they join secret societies because they need protection, while others say that it is for prosperity and other benefits. It is important to note that the devil lures them into such societies with the promise of those things, but in return, he takes their souls and destroys them. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul (Matthew 16:26)? A soul is too heavy a weight for anyone to surrender to the devil. Beloved, do not allow the devil to tempt you into establishing an evil covenant with empty promises, and if you have entered into any covenant with hell and signed a pact with satan, Jesus can set you free if you run to Him. He will not cast away anyone who comes to Him (John 6:37). I pray that the Lord will establish His covenant of peace with you and your household, in Jesus' name. KEY POINT: Any covenant that is made with the devil is based on lies. Thank You for the grace of adoption into sonship. 3.Father, thank You for the fulfillment of Your promises in times past; thank You because You are not a man that should lie nor repent, for You are able to do what You say. 4.Father, thank You for granting me access to long life, prosperity, favour, blessings, joy, peace, divine health and all that I will need in life to fulfill Your purpose on earth through Christ Jesus. 5.Father, please help me to fulfill my own obligations for the fulfillment of Your covenant with me. Victory Belongs to the Lord Scripture Judges 7:2 (NKJV) And the Lord said to Gideon The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me saying My own hand has saved me God Works Best When We Rely on Him Judges chapter 7 continues Gideon’s story at a surprising moment. Gideon has gathered an army to face the Midianites but God says the army is too large. This seems backwards. Yet God’s concern is not military strength but spiritual clarity. If Israel wins with overwhelming numbers they may believe the victory came from themselves. God reduces the army in stages until only three hundred men remain. The purpose is clear. The victory must point unmistakably to God. When success cannot be explained by human strength God alone receives the glory. This chapter teaches that God sometimes removes what we rely on so that we learn to rely fully on Him. Weakness in our hands becomes strength in God’s hands. What feels insufficient is often exactly what God uses to display His power. For believers today Judges 7 reminds us that God is not impressed by numbers resources or human ability. He desires hearts that trust Him completely. When we depend on God rather than ourselves He works in ways that leave no doubt that He alone brought the victory. Reflection Questions 1. Am I relying more on my ability or on God’s power 2. Has God ever reduced something in my life to strengthen my faith 3. How can I give God full glory for the victories I experience Prayer Lord God help me to trust You fully and not rely on my own strength. When You remove what I lean on teach me to lean on You instead. May my life point to Your power and may You receive all the glory for every victory. In Jesus name Amen.

DON'T STAND ON THE THRESHOLD OF TEMPTATION Many believers think temptation becomes dangerous only after they commit the sin. That is not how Scripture presents it. There is a threshold. There is a middle place where you are simply considering whether you will obey God or not. That is where many people lose the battle. It is like the bird flying over your head. The bird has not built a nest yet, but you allowed it to keep flying around because you refused to deal with it immediately. That is why the Bible says not to give room to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). Don't give him a foothold. Don't let him stand on your veranda. The attitude should be, "Why are you standing here?" Deal with it immediately. Many Christians remain in that middle place. They entertain thoughts they should have rejected the moment they appeared. They consider things that should never have been considered. Then comes the next stage. You begin to agree with the thought. You enjoy it. You rehearse it. You keep turning it over in your mind. You defend it. You begin to justify it. "There is nothing really wrong with it." "Even other Christians struggle with this." "Even pastors have weaknesses." You start building arguments for something God already condemned. Finally, you begin planning how to act on it. That is why sin rarely happens suddenly. It has already been welcomed long before anyone sees the outward action. David did not suddenly commit adultery. First, he saw. Instead of turning away, he lingered. He kept looking. He imagined. The thought was welcomed and furnished. Then he inquired. He asked, "Whose wife is that?" That inquiry should never have happened. Fantasy had already begun looking for support. Many people excuse themselves by saying, "I'm just curious." No. There are questions you should never ask. There are numbers you should never request. There are conversations you should never begin. There are places you should never investigate. Every time someone has confessed how they fell into sin, there was an inquiry that should never have happened. If you know something is a temptation for you, avoid it completely. Don't negotiate. Don't stand at the threshold. Reject it while it is still outside the door. That is how many battles are won, before they ever become battles. Do have a wonderful evening!
