When we were born again, we were "firmly rooted." The foundation is secured, and we are safe in Christ. No one can pluck us up, because noone can ruin what the Lord has planted. Having eternal life, we now grow and mature in Him; "built up in Him." This confidence and reliance on Jesus alone for our salvation, and our continued right standing with God, is being "established in your faith." 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 NASB "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. [21] He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." How then might we be "reconciled to God?" 👇👇👇 Colossians 1:19-20 NASB "For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, [20] and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross." We CAN'T reconcile ourselves to God. There's nothing from us that is worthy of the Father's favor. We may only submit ourselves to the reconciliation God freely offers through Christ and his FINISHED work at the cross. God made a way, through his Son, to make peace with us, despite how evil we have been or how terrible we can become, through the blood of Jesus on the cross. It is the obedience of Christ to submit to the cross and not our own obedience that saves us and goes on saving us. That's the gospel folks. Psalm 32:1-2 KJV "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. [2] Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile." Hallelujah!! That is the believer's state of right standing with God. By the grace of God, because of our faith in Jesus and his "finished" work at the cross, we are not only blessed with already having all of our sin debt washed away in the blood of Christ (our transgressions forgiven and sins covered), but also we enjoy a continued blessing going forward of God not counting our iniquities against us. We are forgiven, and we continue to be held in a state of sinlessness. Such blessings are not due to our performance. Jesus' blood is sufficient for our salvation. Our redemption is given as a gift to us who place our faith in that blood. The Thief was saved by the Savior who had bled that blood while on the cross sealing the new covenant between the Father and the Son by paying the cost for all mankind. The Thief was the first of the born again under that new covenant. He didn't have to partake of the Lord's Supper. No works were necessary. No sacraments were necessary. He believed, and, despite not having been baptized in water, Jesus declared that the Thief would be good to go. Perhaps, after Jesus died, the Thief sinned before he too died. Maybe, he looked down on the soldiers there and hated them for what they had done and were doing to him and the others on crosses. It wouldn't have mattered though. He had already received the assurance of eternal life through his belief in Jesus. Nothing else was necessary, and there isn't anything necessary for anyone else either. When we are born again, we are adopted by God. God is a good father, and he would never unadopt his children. He adopts us despite our iniquities, despite our transgressions, despite our ungodlyness, and we stay safe in that same blessed assurance. Since we are contained in such a magnificent and incredible grace, we are not, as some people think, encouraged to go out and sin with abandon and live a licentiously loose lifestyle. Quite the opposite, and that is why believers who are not following the direction of the Holy Spirit, which was imparted to them at the moment of belief in Christ as their only source and their only hope of salvation, their conscience convicts them. Couple that awful feeling of anxiety and guilt and remorse and regret with the devil whispering in their ears that they are no longer acceptable, and even believers will walk in shame rather than resting in faith knowing their sins are forgiven and their transgressions are forgotten despite the evil they have done or how bad they can become. Walk in faith then. Worship the God who saved us and saves us still. Trust him, be dependent upon him, listen to him, and live your life in honor of him. Do these things, not to keep your right standing with God, but because you believe that you already have right standing with God. Yesterday, I was accused of contempt for God, because I demonstrate contempt for his law. Like the Apostle Paul wrote, and I concur that, "we uphold the law," for the purpose in which the law was given. We use the law to show unbelievers their guilt and need for Jesus, but once the person has come to Faith in Christ for their salvation, the purpose of the law has been fulfilled for them in Jesus. Saved people no longer need the law. We are not led by the law. We are led by the Holy Spirit, the writer and giver of the law. Since we believers have the giver of the law in our hearts, what further need could we possibly have for the law? Trust that the Holy Spirit actually does what Jesus said he would do in the believer's life. Contempt for the Lord? The worst kind of contempt for the Lord is diminishing the power and sufficiency of the blood of his son, Jesus. Don't think that your obedience to the commandments given to Israel, just like the legalistic Pharisees back then, buys you brownie points with God. Without faith, the Bible says, it is impossible to please God. Here's the truth... we believers, those who have placed our faith in Christ alone for our salvation, we believe that our redemption, our sanctification, our justification and our continued right standing with God are all gifts by the grace of God through faith in Jesus as our only source and our only hope of that salvation and righteousness. Don't misplace your faith in the incorrect object of faith. Don't place your faith in yourself. That's putting your faith in your own obedience. It's in your own holiness. It's in your own performance. If that's what you think, repent of your unbelief! Place your faith in the correct object of faith. What is the correct object of faith? Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 1:23-24 KJV "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; [24] But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." People want the law. It's natural for us. It just seems, to our reasoning, that we need it. We think it might be good for us. We think it's a good medicine. Legalism seems like a pill we should take, but the law is a big pill. In fact, it's too big for us to swallow. "Oh well," our logic comes up with the solution, "I know. I'll cut it up into smaller pieces. Pieces that will still be good for me, but pieces I'm able to take." So, religious people sliced and diced the law up in their pill cutter-like brains and came up with sections that they labeled "civil law," "ceremonial law" and "moral law." God gave the law. All 613 commandments. It was people who cut it up. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗽. Even the most legalistic people though think that they don't have to take the ceremonial lump. To them, all they need is the moral part. It only has ten commandments, after all. Oh, maybe they sort through the bigger pieces they sliced off and pick out some other small bits they can take off of one of the big chunks. Some think that they should still abide by the dietary laws, and they decide that they shouldn't eat "unclean foods." Some think they should still honor feast days. Some cut off a little of the regulations for daily living as something they can swallow. The pill of the law brings with it some negative side effects. It causes bitterness and divisiveness and pride. People on the pill of the law can be angry and out of their mouths comes vitriol and disgust, especially to those that disagree with their doctrine. I’m left wondering … where is the fruit of the Spirit demonstrated here? Where at least is Christian love and compassion? Praise God we believers are free and no longer burdened like those under the law. The weight of their own guilt and condemnation causes them to be disgruntled, angry, hostile, and unable to show the love that believers ought to demonstrate. You see? If you're going to take the pill, you need the entire dose... not smaller, more palitable, easier to take sections. If you even miss one crumb of it, you are completely in the wrong and will experience the negative side effects.

Galatians 3:10-14 NASB "For all who are of works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all the things written in the book of the Law, to do them.” [11] Now, that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “the righteous one will live by faith.” [12] However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “The person who performs them will live by them.” [13] Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— [14] in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Being under the law comes with a curse. Living under legalistic religious demands is a doomed endeavor. You have to do it perfectly. You can't. You don't. That's why we are told that, "no one is justified by the Law before God." Living by faith, trusting in Jesus and his finished work as all that is needed for righteousness, comes with the blessing of Abraham. Live by faith. 1 Corinthians 4:1 NASB "This is the way any person is to regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." Many people who have been deceived into believing false Gospels, those that add any human effort to salvation, which is a gift from God to all those who place their faith in Jesus alone, think that they are servants of Christ because they go about spreading their false gospels. BUT they believe in a different gospel and follow a different christ. Ministers of the true gospel are "stewards of the mysteries of God." The word "steward" was translated from the Greek word οἰκονόμος, pronounced oy-kon-om'-os, and it means, according to Strong's Exhaustive Dictionary, "a house distributor (that is manager) or overseer that is an employee in that capacity; by extension a fiscal agent (treasurer); figuratively 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 (𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹): - chamberlain governor steward." Preachers of the true gospel preach about the mysteries of God. 👇👇👇 1 Corinthians 2:7-13 NASB "but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; [8] the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; [9] but just as it is written: “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the human heart, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.” [10] For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. [11] For who among people knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? So also the thoughts of God no one knows, except the Spirit of God. [12] Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God. The great mystery is this: that God would so love us that he withheld nothing from us, even offering up the body and blood of his own son for us, so that if we'd only believe in Jesus and his finished work at Calvary as being sufficient for our salvation, that we would be given the righteousness of God in Christ, salvation, redemption, justification, sanctification and inherit eternal life through no effort of our own or any of our own works through obedience to the commandments. Genesis 15:6-8 NASB "Then he believed in the Lord; and He credited it to him as righteousness. [7] And He said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess it.” [8] But he said, “Lord God, how may I know that I will possess it?'” Look at that! 👀 Look and see how quickly belief can turn to doubt. Yes, Abraham believed. Yes, God gave him right standing, not because of his actions but simply because he believed God had told him the truth. The Apostle Paul made Abraham's righteousness through faith a significant point of the gospel message, and he was right in doing so. Belief is what Jesus told Nicodemus was necessary to inherit eternal life. Abraham believed God. God accounted Abraham's belief as enough reason to give right standing to Abraham. Yet, in the next line, we read that God said something else to Abraham right after Abraham was declared righteous. God told Abraham that he would possess the land he was in, and Abraham's response to this new promise? Doubt. "How will I know that I will possess it," he asked? Keep the faith! Colossians 2:13-14 NASB "And when you were dead in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, [14] having 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 the 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 of debt 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 against us, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀; and He has taken it out of the way, having 𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 it to the cross." We believers were spiritually dead in sin and guilty of wrongdoings too, but Jesus washed that all away and made us spiritually alive! That born again spiritual life is "eternal life." We will never be judged again for our sins, because even the "𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲" "𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀" "𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀" has been "𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱" and "𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱" to the cross. What is this certificate consisting of decrees that are hostile to us? 👇👇👇 Ephesians 2:15-16 NASB "by abolishing in His flesh the hostility, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 composed of commandments expressed in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two one new person, in this way establishing peace; [16] and that He might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the hostility." Notice the answer. The thing hostile to us consisting of decrees, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, is the law. It is NOT the ordinances themselves. It is the 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. The Amplified Bible puts it this way. 👇👇👇 Ephesians 2:14-15 AMPC "For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us, [15] By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 [which He annulled]; that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace." How can the commandments be "𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲" to us? Because to be subject to them, to be under them, we are held accountable to our performance at obeying them. If we disobey, if we break them, which we do, which we did, we were guilty of sin, and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The good news is that we are no longer under the law. We are under grace (Romans 6:14). How's that possible? Because, for the believer, the law has been "𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱," so we are no longer accountable to it. We are dead to it (Romans 7:4). We have been reborn as a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are born again, and we have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 4:13-15 NASB "But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written: “I believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸, [14] knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus, and will present us with you. [15] For all things are for your sakes, 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, will cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God." We believers proclaim the good news of God's grace, so that the gospel of grace will spread to more people and free them from sin and legalistic religion (which results in death) and cause them to rejoice in thanksgiving that brings glory to our God who saves and gives eternal life. #jesus #grace #faith #believe #cross

Psalm 51:1-2 NASB "Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness; According to the greatness of Your compassion, wipe out my wrongdoings. Wash me thoroughly from my guilt And cleanse me from my sin." To be washed clean from our guilt isn't a result of our baptism in water or even our works of confession and pleas of mercy, due to our sorrowful regret over our wrongdoings. The forgiveness of sin, and our rightstanding with God, is according to the faithfulness and compassion of God.

It 𝐢𝐬 about trust. The gospel is all about placing trust in Jesus and his finished work at the cross. Trying to earn and/or keep God's approval through obedience to the law is placing trust in yourself. We can’t keep the law. The Jews thought they could. They watered it down to ways in which they believed they were keeping it. Jesus showed them how high the standard was. The standard is perfection. "Be holy for I am holy," God said. Moses told them, Jesus said, not to commit adulatory, but then Jesus lifted it to an even higher bar by bringing in their thought life as another way to fall short of God's holy standard regarding human conduct. Most people remember this verse, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 NKJV It speaks the truth. You sin, I sin, we all sin. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐞 of us can keep the law. We are NOT doomed though. Let’s look at the surrounding verses too. Romans 3:19-24 NKJV Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. [20] Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. [21] 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰 the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, [22] even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; [23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [24] being justified freely 𝐛𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Look to Jesus. Demons & Devils Believe? James 2:19 NASB “You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.” Believing God is, as James pointed out, one thing, but putting your trust in him alone for your salvation is another. Besides, whether James still hadn’t fully grasped new covenant thinking or not when the letter was penned, Hebrews 11:1 makes it clear that seeing isn’t believing. Believing is placing faith in Jesus without even seeing. Meanwhile, James’ entire point of the chapter is to demonstrate that seeing IS believing for the rest of the unsaved. He wants us to “prove” our faith to unbelievers by showing it through good works towards others. We, of course, need not prove anything to anyone. We just stand sure in our faith and follow the directions of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Good works will flow out of our grateful hearts for the grace shown to us. We will want to do good for others. Devils believe, but they do not believe into salvation. They believe the word of God, but they don’t place their trust, their reliance or their confidence in Jesus. They are still in rebellion. Christian believers trust in, rely on and give full confidence to Jesus for their salvation. They are not in rebellion. They have willingly submitted to Jesus’ lordship in their lives. Our kind of belief is Bible belief in Jesus. Bible belief is not just a warm and fuzzy feeling it must be true. Demons 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 it’s true. Positioned in Christ has only one thing to do with performance … good works flow out of people that are securely in Christ. The Holy Spirit fills us with his fruit and we exhibit it. Performance doesn’t matter at all though to keep our position in Christ. That’s where people that push their obedience and works centered ideas are “dead wrong.” They think faith without works dies, but that’s not what the Bible says. Acts 28:23 NASB When they had set a day for Paul, people came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening. That's what Jesus did too for the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

Did you mess up? Did you sin? Is your conscience convicting you into shame, remorse, regret and even self loathing? Move forward in faith that the word is true. Look at what the word says about believers. 👇👇👇 Romans 4:7-8 NASB “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered. [8] “Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.” True? Yes! So, accept it. Embrace it. Shake off the guilt, the shame, the remorse, the bad conscience. Walk in the grace God has given you through your faith in Jesus. Press forward, and don't let the desires of your flesh rule you. We all make mistakes, but thank God our mistakes in life don't affect our eternal life or our relationship with him. We are adopted. We are accepted. Rebuke the devil. Rebuke your own soul's conscience that is convicting you. Shake it all off and learn from it in order to do the right thing next time. Sin is bad. There are real world consequences, even physical ones to our mistakes. Jesus told a man he healed to, "sin not, lest a worse thing come upon you." Hebrews 4:16 NASB "Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need." We have a great confidence from our position in Christ. Is it based on our performance? No. We sin. We screw up. We are still broken people in recovery from our past. It is based on our position. Where are we positioned? In Christ. We walk in faith believing we are redeemed, justified and sanctified by the blood of Jesus which was shed for us despite how bad we have been, how bad we are or how bad we can become. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.” The imperishable seed endures forever. No one needs the definition of good works. We know what those are. I could tell you most assuredly though that nothing we can produce could even remotely come close to the good works that would be necessary to secure our right standing with God. Thankfully, we receive righteousness now, not because of our performance, but by placing our faith in Jesus and his finished work at the cross as being sufficient for our salvation. Does this mean we do nothing in the body of Christ? Of course not! We do things. We are productive in the kingdom. We witness to others, we help others, we feed others, we go where we are led to go and we say what we are led to say.
