📘 Daily Devotion — June 18 | Acts 2:17 (NKJV) 💯 God’s Spirit for All His People Acts 2:17 is part of Peter's explanation of the events that occurred on the Day of Pentecost. As the crowd wondered what was happening, Peter pointed them to the prophecy of Joel, showing that God was fulfilling His promise to pour out His Spirit upon His people. What the people witnessed was not a random occurrence but the unfolding of God's redemptive plan. This verse highlights the generosity of God. He promised to pour out His Spirit, not sparingly, but abundantly. Under the old covenant, the Holy Spirit often came upon specific individuals for particular tasks. Now, through Christ, God was extending His Spirit to all who would believe. Men and women, young and old, would experience His presence and power. The emphasis of this passage is not on age, status, or position but on God's willingness to work through ordinary people. The Lord delights in using those who make themselves available to Him. His Spirit equips believers to serve, encourages them in their faith, and empowers them to fulfill His purposes. For Christians today, this verse is a reminder that God desires an active relationship with His people. The Holy Spirit is not merely a doctrine to understand but God's presence dwelling within believers. He teaches, comforts, convicts, guides, and strengthens us as we walk with Christ. No matter your age, background, or stage of life, God can use you for His glory. The same Spirit who empowered the early church continues to work in and through believers today. Our responsibility is to remain surrendered to Him and willing to follow His leading. Reflection Questions 1. Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and direct my daily life? 2. In what areas do I need to be more available for God to use me? 3. How have I seen God's Spirit working in my life and in the lives of others? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Help me to walk in obedience to Your leading and to remain sensitive to Your voice. Use my life for Your glory and strengthen me to serve You faithfully. Fill my heart with a greater desire to know You and follow Your purposes each day. In Jesus name Amen. PERILOUS TIMES We are living in a generation that perfectly reflects the prophecy concerning the last days. Everywhere we look, there is moral decay, violence, deception, selfishness, greed, and increasing rebellion against God. The Bible calls these days "Perilous Times." The word perilous means dangerous, difficult, stressful, fierce, and hard to endure. Yet, God has not left His people without direction. He has given us His Word to guide us through these challenging times. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV) "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." What Are Perilous Times? Perilous times are seasons characterized by: Spiritual decline Moral corruption Increase in wickedness False teachings Lawlessness Persecution of believers Matthew 24:12 "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Jesus warned that sin would increase, causing many people to lose their passion for God. Signs of Perilous Times 1. Self-Centered Living 2 Timothy 3:2 "For men shall be lovers of their own selves..." Many people today are focused only on themselves, their success, and their pleasure rather than God's will. 2. Love of Money 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil..." The pursuit of wealth has become more important to many than righteousness. 3. Disobedience and Rebellion 2 Timothy 3:2 "...disobedient to parents..." Respect for authority is diminishing in homes, churches, and society. 4. Increase in Deception Matthew 24:24 "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets..." False doctrines and misleading teachings are spreading rapidly. 5. Love of Pleasure Over God 2 Timothy 3:4 "...lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." Many people prioritize entertainment, comfort, and worldly desires above God. How Should Christians Live in Perilous Times? 1. Remain Faithful to God Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." Our commitment to Christ must remain strong regardless of the pressures around us. 2. Stay in God's Word Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The Word of God provides direction and protection in confusing times. 3. Be Prayerful Luke 21:36 "Watch ye therefore, and pray always..." Prayer keeps believers spiritually alert and connected to God. 4. Walk in Holiness 1 Peter 1:15-16 "Be ye holy; for I am holy." God expects His children to remain pure despite a corrupt world. 5. Do Not Fear Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee..." Even in dangerous times, God remains our refuge and strength. God's Promises During Perilous Times Psalm 91:1-2 "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." God promises protection for those who trust Him. John 16:33 "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Jesus assures us that He has already overcome every challenge we face. Romans 8:37 "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us." Believers are not victims of perilous times; they are conquerors through Christ. Lessons from Perilous Times The Bible is being fulfilled before our eyes. We must remain spiritually vigilant. Holiness is more important than ever. Prayer is essential for survival. Christ's return is drawing near. Luke 21:28 "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Conclusion Perilous times are not meant to discourage believers but to prepare them. While the world grows darker, the light of Christ should shine brighter through His people. God is calling His church to remain faithful, prayerful, watchful, and holy. Those who endure to the end shall receive the crown of life. Closing Prayer Heavenly Father, give us wisdom, strength, and courage to stand firm in these perilous times. Help us to remain faithful to Your Word, walk in holiness, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Protect us from deception and strengthen our faith until the day of Christ's return. But Bible prophecy tells us to listen carefully when civil power begins invoking the language of God and religion. 👀 In recent years, Donald Trump has repeatedly made public statements blending church and state—and every student of Revelation 13 and the Three Angels’ Messages should pay attention. ⏳🔥 This is not about attacking a man. It is about recognizing the movements prophecy said would appear just before the final crisis. Below are Trump’s own public, documented statements, forming a pattern every Adventist should weigh prayerfully. —————————————— 1. “Christianity is under siege… and we’re going to protect Christianity.” (Trump, South Carolina rally, Feb. 2016) 🛑 When leaders claim divine mandate to protect Christianity, they step into spiritual territory reserved for Christ alone. Jesus said: “My kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36) —————————————— 2. “We will restore faith and family to the center of American life.” (Trump, CPAC 2023) ⚠️ Restoring “faith” by state authority is exactly the danger Adventist pioneers warned about. Uriah Smith wrote that the beast becomes dangerous “when it assumes the right to dictate matters of religion.” —————————————— 3. “We will be one glorious nation under God.” (Trump, Museum of the Bible, 2024) 🇺🇸✨ Beautiful words—but Scripture warns of a nation with lamb-like profession and dragon-like speech (Revelation 13:11). The danger is not saying “under God.” The danger is enforcing religion in God’s name. —————————————— 4. “I’ll get rid of the Johnson Amendment and allow churches to speak their minds politically.” (Trump, National Prayer Breakfast, 2017) ⛪➡️🏛️ This merges pulpits with politics—one of the very steps Adventist pioneers said would lead toward church-state enforcement. Ellen White warned: “The line of distinction between professed Christians and the ungodly is now hardly distinguishable… Church and state are now making preparations for the future conflict.” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 210) —————————————— 5. “I want pastors to take a stand. They have tremendous power over their people.” (Trump, 2016) 💬🛐 Treating pastors as political power brokers fulfills the outline of Revelation 13—religion influencing the state, and the state empowering religion. —————————————— 6. “In America we don’t worship government. We worship God.” (Trump, Faith and Freedom Coalition, 2017) 📣❤️ Sounds good—but historically these claims are used to justify state involvement in worship. When rulers speak as if they represent God, enforced worship follows. —————————————— 7. “Christianity will have power.” (Trump, Iowa rally, 2016) ⚡ This is one of the clearest, most prophetic statements. But which Christianity will have power? The commandment-keeping faith of Revelation 14? Or the fallen, apostate system of Revelation 13 and 17? Ellen White wrote: “The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of Roman power.” (Great Controversy, p. 588) Church + state = prophecy fulfilled. —————————————— THE PROPHETIC PATTERN IS FORMING 🔥⏳ Taken together, the trajectory is undeniable: • “Christianity is under siege — I will protect it” • “Christianity will have power” • “Pastors have tremendous power” • “Restore faith to American life” • “Churches should influence politics” • “One nation under God” This is the exact sequence Adventist pioneers foresaw: Moral crisis → calls for religious revival → union of church + state → enforced worship. Many follow fake religion, where there is no real change of heart. Paul also warned that false teachers would take advantage of people who don’t know the truth well. The lesson for us is simple: Don’t be fooled by the crowd. Don’t be swayed by nice-sounding words. Hold on to God’s Word and let His Spirit guide you. The world may change, but God’s truth never changes. 🔎 1.
